i got a liiiiittle carried away with this one, hope that's alright!

Horropedia as a character is fascinating because at a surface level he's a mess and a walking stereotype - a "nerdy nerd" with a very specific hyperfixation on the horror genre, the tall guy with glasses who explains the plot and does his own thing regardless of how others view him, the first one to die in a movie solely because he's perceived as cringe etc, etc.

And yet, his medium is "logic" - he, better than anyone, understands the nonsensical laws that make up the concept of horror, he sees the patterns and the reason why some things are done this way instead of that way. Through logic, pattern recognition and analysis, Horropedia can pretty much understand anything and work his way around any problem, no matter how unorthodox his solutions may be.

In a sense, I'd compare Horropedia to Pavia. Both are characters who are subject to the stereotypes and images others assign to them - but whereas Pavia both fights and plays into all of these roles, Horropedia just brushes it off and continues doing his own thing, being genuine and unapologetically himself.

When it comes to romance, it's easy to assume Horropedia has no interest in it - they're two different genres that don't go together most of the time. It's also easy to assume that he would be a troublesome partner, due to the laser focus attention he gives to his interests. And the latter is partially true: his lackluster love life is entirely because romance hasn't entered his radar, at least not enough to pull his attention away from his one true love.

But I think this is where the aspect of "logic" comes into play. All Horropedia needs is that spark, to find something to truly become invested in when it comes to romance - once he finds it, he'll dedicate the same amount of attention to detail and care as the horror movies he loves so much.

On the subject of Horropedia developing a crush.

Similar to Click, Horropedia would need some time to start noticing the signs of a crush - the difference is that Horropedia is a little quicker when it comes to realizing he's fallen for someone. His forte is horror movies, but he still knows a thing or two when it comes to other genres.

When he cannot rationalize his behaviour around you in a way that makes sense to his current fixation or situation, that's when he knows. And given how straightforward (to the point of bordering on obliviously rude) Horropedia can be, I'd say he'd also be the type to address this crush right away. Now that there's this brand new thing in his life, he'd like to understand it better - to dissect and study the way romance is potrayed, explore how it feels and just analyze it to hell and back. Basically, he wants to know the rules, to figure out how to best proceed.

Of course, he wouldn't dream of confronting you directly, only an amateur would do such a thing. Instead, he asks his friends and pretty much anyone within his general vicinity. He wants to understand romance from every angle, to hear about it from all sorts of people until he feels like he knows enough to start forming his own opinions.

His questions are all theoretical situations that begin rather innocent, innocuous. What does the hero of a romcom do to get the romantic interest? Does it follow a three act structure? And should the third act climax start with a confession or the breakup?

Overtime, they become a little more specific. To the point where his closest friends might suspect something is up, until Horropedia finds himself asking about your interests so that he can figure out the perfect gift for you. Just in case. He finds himself watching romcoms and making extensive research and charts and essays into the genres.

The funniest thing to me is that Horropedia would be extremely casual about this whole ordeal, this crush makes him extremely intrigued in the concept of romance (an oddity for someone so themed around horror), he finds himself staring at you from across the room (this is the third time he's walked into a door because of it) and so on and so forth. But he's so chill about it.

When confronted about his crush - should Blonney or anyone else decide to tease him a little by prodding - Horropedia has no problem blurting out that he has, indeed, fallen for someone. But he'll take your name to the grave, not out of shame or embarrassment but because "he doesn't want to spoil the plot, as obvious as it might be".

On the subject of Horropedia confronting his feelings and some more insight into his mentality.

I'd say there is this small possibility of Horropedia feeling disheartened if he begins to neglect his real passion for the sake of his feelings - it's that sort of guilt and shock one gets when they realize they've forgotten their wallet the moment they're meant to pay for dinner, or when they realize they've forgotten to turn off the oven.

Horror is a huge part of his life and who he is as a person - literally look at the name he's chosen for himself - and given how heavily coded he is to be neurodivergent, I can understand this aspect of him. The feeling like one must choose between two things they enjoy, and all the other things that might come with hyperfixation, both positive and negative.

This is the biggest obstacle for Horropedia when it comes to finally taking the first steps into forming a relationship with you or confessing - the irrational thought that by doing so, he's prioritizing you and romance over horror, something that he holds very dear. One of his stories gives some insight about Horropedia's relationship with horror and how it's something he shared with (and possibly was started by) his grandfather.

I feel like he'll grow a little distant, as a way to set some boundaries for himself or draw a line between his identity and his feelings for you, separate the two so that he doesn't have to feel guilty for giving one more attention than the other. Maybe he simply stops bringing up films around you, because "you're probably not that interested anyway". Masking, he's masking.

But overall, I can see Horropedia being capable enough to get out of this mindset by himself - or with a little help from someone else. Either way, he simply loops back to realizing the obvious: you two were friends, before he realized his feelings for you. You were fine with the whole Horropedia Experience. You liked him for who he was. And he liked you just as you were.

Horropedia is the one who confesses first, the one who asks you out. 100%. And it's so unnecessarily dramatic.

I DO think that Horropedia would make sure to be the one who confesses, just so he can put everything that he's learned about romance into play. And he delivers the most award worthy performance. It would be all about redirection, an unexpected reveal - his skills and animations are also all about fake outs and misleading the audience, after all.

In my head, there's this whole scene about Horropedia asking everyone to help him out confess to you, and everyone is so excited for it - but then he just asks them to fuel this slow rift that formed between you and him, to act vague, distant and mysterious should you ask Blonney or Tooth Fairy about him. Again, unorthodox and weird, but he's cooking. This is all done with the intention of forcing a confrontation between the two of you, just so he can pour his heart out right there - it's all or nothing.

Again, I want to insist that Horropedia, despite being a logical man, still makes as many aspects of his life revolve around the things that he loves and is interested in - he likes films, he likes you. And while romance is not his preferred genre, he still wants to explore all there is about it all thanks to you.

That alone should tell you how much you mean to him. Even if his methods aren't the "proper" way, you know he's putting his whole heart into this. It's all over the top, there's fake rain, etc etc. Of course, your reaction to this is up to you!

If you're mad at him for such convoluted plan, he'll sit there and allow you to scold him to your heart's content - he's used to it as one of the many troublemakers that the Foundation failed to raise as model students. If you laugh at him because of how ridiculous this guy can be sometimes, he'll laugh along, trying to get you to tell him what he could've been done better to get a third act reconciliation. And if you start crying, jump into his arms and play along then he'll be over the moon, trying every single impactful one-liner from every romcom he's watched in the past few weeks.

On the subject of Horropedia and how he acts when he's in a relationship.

Dating Horropedia is pretty easy, because you're dating your best friend. However, it is very easy to misunderstand Horropedia's way of showing affection - those who are more on the insecure side or less receptive to his subtleties may feel like there's been absolutely no shift in the dynamic, that he's treating you the same way he'd treat Tooth Fairy or Vertin.

This is far from the truth! Once Horropedia finally settles into the relationship, he grows very comfortable and allows himself to just exist around you - which isn't saying much since he doesn't mask as much around friends, but it's all about the subtle things!

I like to think Horropedia is very particular about space, as in he makes a point not to invade people's spaces if possible and he'd rather remain in his little bubble. But when it comes to you, he's very casual with physical touch. He's not as cuddly and touchy as characters like, let's say, Matilda, Jessica or Pavia, but being able to rest his head on your shoulder means a lot to him, or just have you lean on him when sitting together. This is pushed to the limit when you two pull all-nighters, binging all of your favorite movies.

He's on cloud nine when you pay attention to his ramblings and makes sure to listen when you ramble to him as well. More than often, he'll do his own little research into the topics you like, just so you have someone to properly discuss things with! Horropedia more than anyone knows what it's like to be brushed aside for being too much or too weird, to have no one listen. Despite his confidence, he has had days of feeling like he keeps on talking to a wall, so he doesn't want you to ever feel like that.

It's all about sharing interests and recommending things that you may like, keeping up with the latest events and so on and so forth, having looong discussions at night about whatever topic you two are extremely invested in.

If these discussions get a little heated and end up as arguments, expect Horropedia to insist on arguing because he's just stubborn like that - it'll take him time to realize that he might've hurt your feelings, or that he might've be hurting too, but he'll come around eventually to talk it out.

Overall, dating Horropedia would be fun because he's full of surprises and excitement, but he's also considerate in his own way.

Analyzing King Magnifico

Oooh boy, I have a lot to say! This is gonna be long. So brace yourself. But first 👇

‼️Note, this is my very personal opinion‼️

I'm honestly glad how the multitude of people realizes that we don't have a villain here. And honestly, while some nag and whine around that they didn't get one, I'm not mad at all that we got Magnifico the way we got him.

So in the end, it doesn't matter to me if disney actually failed to create a villain or purposely created a good guy who changes to be the antagonist.

Ok, now to the analizing part

The very first thing we learn about Magnifico is that he has a pretty dark past. He lost his home and his entire family, anyone he ever loved, all in one night. And in a very curel way. That banner tells us a lot!

First of all, if we study the picture, we see a palace in the back, some houses and right down below young Magnifico and his parents. Now, why is that so important? Back in the days only very important people were potrayed on banners. Such as royals, families of very high status or knights. Banners and wallrugs were also used to tell important stories. And since the palace is on the banner, I'm pretty sure we have a royal family here. That would mean that Magnifico had been royalty from the very start.

Further we see that the bottom got burned. This tells us that there was a big fire. Which leads me to conclude that what Magnifico saw and experienced was most defenitely hell on earth. Imagine, his family, his home, everything burns. Screams of terror everywhere, the stench of dead burning flesh and smoke that nearly suffocates you! And he was very young when that happened. So we now know that the king has big time PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) Keep this in mind, because it's literally the key to this whole analysis.

Out of his trauma, Magnifico strived to build a safe haven, where he could make sure no tragedy like the one he'd suffered would ever happen again. He build his kingdom, (on top of already existing buildings, as we know from the art book) He taught himself magic to actually have power to protect. He made sure his people are safe and live well. That no one has to suffer, endure hunger or hardships. Sounds like a evil rotten monster right?

Just look at the way he looks at the (wishes) dreams of his people. He appreciates and treasures them!

His genuine desire to protect and keep safe has always been good!

We only see him snap after Asha triggers him. And while ptsd people react overly sensitive or exaggerated, it is understandable once you know where they come from.

Analyzing Magnifico's ptsd closer and how it influenced his actions and decissions

Magnifico had looked for an apprentice that truly understands where he comes from and shares his ambitions. But the first thing Asha asks as soon as she gets the feeling she has the job safe, is if he can grant her grandfather's wish. I understand, that she cares for her grandfather but I also see Magnifico's feelings. Can you imagine how used he must feel? Constantly feeling the pressure of "I must protect what's dear to me! I must make sure my past never repeats!" And yet, the most people see him as is the "wish-granter".

Trauma shapes you, it shapes the way of thinking and if something triggers a response, you just react. If you like it or not. And oftentimes you're not even aware you're acting up. I can tell from personal expirience ...

So what about him being slightly vain and wanting respect?

Respect is earned. Generally everyone deserves to be threated with respect unless someone gives you a solid reason not to.

So let's recap some of the things Magnifico actually deserves respect for :

Surviving a horrible tragedy and still standing

Building up an entire kingdom and reigning it well (protecting his people fiercly and sucessfully bringing order)

Being selfless

Being king and carrying a freaking lot of responsibility

Now, let's look at Magnifico's "vanity moments" more closely and examine the things he does and says with questions of why?

The thing with his hair. He makes sure his hair looks nice. Ok, is this a bad thing? Does this make one ultimately vain? No. Being content with your hair and wanting to have it look good isn't vain. Neither is being happy about it. Or looking at yourself in the mirror and like yourself. You even should be able to look at yourself and love what you see. Pure vanity is something different.

What about what he says about himself in his song?

I can't help it if mirrors love my face

It's genetics! Yeah, I got these genes from outer space

Lets consider the situation and emotional state he's in. He's pissed. And I'm pretty sure this a way to try and lift himself up a bit. I mean, like mentioned above, there is nothing wrong with liking your appearance. And he IS freaking handsome. He's not lying when he acknowleges that fact.

Of course you could twist his words and say, oh he's arrogant and vain. But people can say lots of things and not actually be a bad person.

And while true vanity is a bad trait, it doesn't make one a villain. Let's compare Magnifico to Gaston for a second.

Gaston is rude from the very beginning. He's selfabsorbed and narcissistic all the way and the only thing he cares about is himself. He shows off to be praised simply for selfgratification and because he thinks he's the center of the world.

Magnifico cares immensily for others and wants acknowledgement for it. Who wouldn't? If you do something great and constantly care for others and still aren't really appreciated for it, who wouldn't be like, "I do all this and you thank me by doubting me and wanting even more? How ungrateful can one be?" And the only things we see people acknowledge him for, is 1. His ability to do magic and grant wishes, and 2. His handsome looks.

I totally understand that he's fed up at one point. Deep down wishing someone would see him for the man he truly is below all his abilities and appearance.

Gaston would walk over dead bodies to get what he wants and in order to look good. He has 0 compassion and 0 remorse.

So, even though Magnifico is a "little" vain, he's not out of evil reasons! It literally doesn't harm anyone and it doesn't cause others to suffer. If someone tells him "You're handsome." He replies, "I know."

Good! Too many people look into the mirror and hate themselves. Of course, humbler people would just reply with "thank you." But still, this isn't a solid point to call someone a villain or bad person.

Ok, now. So far we have absolutely no reason to assume Magnifico is a "villain" so let's skip to the part where it get's interesting!

The thing with the shape shifiting entity (star) happens. Something that is outside of Magnifico's power, something he doesn't understand and it terrifies him! Why? Not because he's a power hungry psycho, not because he enjoys controling people out of complacenty and is afraid to lose that. No. It's the desperation of feeling helpless, the terror of losing control, the fear of having the past repeat itself. That is what drives him mad.

Ultimately he becomes desperate and anxious enough to let himself get possesed. Even during the whole process, he says that he never wanted this, he swore he'd never let himslef be posessed. He further says, "To this book, I don't wanna be tethered, but desperate times call for desperate measures."

Let's hear that again folks! Real loud for all those in the back! He tell us 3 times, 3 times ! How he doesn't want to turn to darkness but he feels forced to do so. Why? Because of his trauma! Not because he's a villain. He doesn't want to lose his control out of fear!

Let me show you something.

There you have it! 🫴 it's that simple. I'm tired of traumatized characters being labeled as villains.

Oh yeah but he literally goes bonkers after he let himself be possesed by the evil from this book!

Yeah, sherlock, of course he behaved EVIL after that. That's literally the evil that possesed him! This doesn't make him a villain! It make's his whole situation even sadder and more tragic. The actions are obviously bad, "villainous" if you wanna call it that, but it doesn't make him a villain!

What happens to a scared animal that you force into a corner? It bites. Does this mean the animal is evil because it bit? No. It doesn't make the bite ok, but it doesn't make it evil either.

So, I, like many others also underline that Magnifico is in no way a villain but a traumatized good guy who sadly slipped.

His personality

Composed when needed

He can be bubbly as much as he can be calm. One of the first things Amaya tells Asha is that Magnifico likes to talk a lot, yet we never truly see him talk a lot! He is more calm than he is loud.

When Asha has her interview, he gives her room to talk rather than showering her in lectures of what he wants and what he expects. He's like "Go ahead, you tell me! Imma listen."

I actually feel this very personally because I'm someone who loves to talk. If I'm comfortable around someone and I made sure I can trust them, I can ramble for hours. I can talk and talk and talk like a waterfall. But at the same time, I can also be intensly quiet and listen well.

Childlike behavior

One of my absolute favourite characteristics in Magnifico is his childlike goofyness. He has this really pure cuteness to him and a bombastic humor. He doesn't pay heed if his behavior could seem akward to others, he just acts however he feels like. He's one of those adults that would still do all the things they enjoyed doing as a child or things that children normally do and I love that!

I cannot stop chuckling over the fact that he hippity hopps down one of his corridors, giving cookies to knight armors. If that isn't adorable I don't know what is! 😂

Also, please, that whole scene! The dance moves, the excitement, the expressiveness! Aaawwww!

He has a whole miniature model of his kingdom and he makes little interactive figures! I laughed tears because it's so funny and adorable! Like he's that kind of man that would cheer at the simplest accomplishments like a child unwrapping the toy the really wanted on christmas day.

There is so much we can find in here. He's :

Playful, creative, quirky, funny, passionate, imaginative, spunky, talented - the list goes on!

But let's keep going and listen to what else shimmers through the things he sings.

I'd give the clothes off Benito's back, if you really needed that

He doesn't just blabber nonsense here or lies. He truly would do all those things! Why else would he sing this while alone? He has no one around so one could say he's saying this on purpose to look good. He's frustrated, offended and slightly hurt and is speaking his mind and emotions. And we are shown this as an audience.

What do these lines tell us then? They tell us just what he actually is! Altruistic. It leads us right back to what we found at the beginning. His actual desire to help, keep safe and protect.

Why would he be the first one to volunteer if a home crumbles? Because his did. A king actually doesn't need to get his hands dirty. He has enough people to do things for him, yet he'd go out of his way to take matters into his own hands because he genuinly cares!

I let you live here for free and I don't even charge you rent

Doesn't sound like a power hungry, wealth loving, gold hoarding dictator to me. Get this, you are living in a kinddom for fee! No rent! The most money you make you keep and only a bit of it goes to the king to sustain the community. That's pretty awesome if you ask me.

I clean up all your messes and I'm always there when you need to vent

So he's not only selfless but a good listener as well. He doesn't judge. He, well -

I give and give and give and give-

He wants to make sure everyone is pleased. That's actually impossible but he still tries and is secrerly suffering deep down from it. If a person only ever gives and hardly gets anything back ... it's like you fill a container with water and there is no hole to drain it. Eventually you are so overly full of others problems, you suffocate or overflow.

It's SO sad that he doesn't have ANYONE to really talk to. He runs across half the palace to let out his emotions rather than seeking comfort from someone. (Which would be the oportunity to talk about Amaya but this is for another post!)

Charming, charismatic, proud, confident

The characteristics that make him attractive besides his looks. He's a gentleman, he knows how to use words well, he isn't afraid to speak his mind and carries himself with confidence, which is displayed in the way he walks. He either strides, has a light bounce to his step or a heavyness.

Ok, now, that we have the positives, we can acknowledge the negative and neutral ones. And everyone has negative traits. Again, some of Magnifico's negative traits are caused and or intensified by his ptsd.

Idealistic and perfectionistic -Magnifico constantly obsesses over how things should and could be. Chaos irritates him. He feels safe in clear structures and always strives for the best outcome for things. If something doesn't make sense for him, he feverly searches for answers until he finds them. If not, he panics. The tiniest feeling of potentially failing wrecks his nerves.

Impulsive - He's got a short temper. Yes, he can swallow a lot but if one crosses a certain line, he snaps. His emotions control him more than he controls them. And that goes both ways. Happy, sad, angry. He feels everything intense and reacts intense.

Stormy and insecure - He reacts very sensitive to stress. He feels a certain degree of urgency in his feelings and tends to be sucess-oriented. He always wants to improve and thus pressures himself.

Controlling - Magnifico's obsessive feeling of need to control comes from his traumatic past. As long as he's in control, he feels secure. He feels safe. Control is his safeplace. Not because he has evil motives but because in reality he's deeply insecure and anxious.

Paranoid and pessimistic - Again a trait that has been heavily altered by his ptsd. Originally he'd belong to the more cautious kind. Being cautious isn't something negative, it can be very helpful since one analyzes and observes carefully before choosing to trust or do something. But his trauma causes him to always assume the worst. He becomes critical where he wouldn't need to be because of his fear. (We see this with his decissions over wishes. He disregards some not because of ill will, ignorance or arrogance but because of his anxiety)

Stubborn - If Magnifico has set his mind on something he could go through walls with his head. Once he's determinded to do something, it's nearly impossible to stop him.

Distrustful - His paranoia and pessimism makes it hard for him to trust others. He becomes hard to read and hard to understand.

Now, once the evil that has been trapped in the book posesses Magnifico, he becomes ruthless, cruel and cynical. He steps into "villainous behavior" but is it what he truly is? NO! Of course not! If people talk about a classical villain, they mean a purely evil person from the very beginning of a movie/story. If we have a originally good guy, who, through circumstances, starts reacting and making wrong choices, we're talking about an antagonist.

And good grief, Magnifico was more than redeemable! If someone actually hadn't been blind to the true struggle of his soul, if someone had actually cared enough to save him! If someone had only truly loved him. He was used, wronged, backstabbed, betrayed, left alone and dropped like a hot potato the second he snapped. Poor Magnifico. He deserved better. Far better.

Do you guys ever wonder if Obi-Wan had a moment where he just, I don't know, sat down and thought about the sheer number of Sith coming after him and only him specifically?

I know it's pretty much just a meme at this point in the SW fandom that Obi-Wan has something like a sixth sense or something for attracting literally almost every Dark Side user in the nearest vicinity.

But, like ... if you remember how Obi-Wan is potrayed as a Jedi Initiate and later on as a Padawan, it's kinda crazy/hilarious to think about how this super anxious and emotional kid, who constantly questioned whether he would ever measure up to the expectations placed on him (by himself and others), went on to not only become one of the most famous Jedi in the galaxy but also a sort of legend in his own right. And then straight up became so popular that even the Sith couldn't ignore him.

And this arguably all sort of started after he defeated Maul (for the first time), who was believed at the time to be the first Sith/Sith Lord to appear in over a millenium. And not only did he gain the title of Sith Killer, but he later joined the Jedi Council as one of their youngest members and then went on to play a pivotal role in the Clone Wars as High General.

Like ... he was already a pretty big deal in his own right before the Clone Wars even began. But once the war was in full swing, the man never fucking stopped.

Besides obvious plot and writing reasons, it does sort of make sense then for all these Sith and Dark Side users to constantly target Obi-Wan. I mean, what Sith wouldn't wanna have at least one go at the legendary "Sith Killer?" Why wouldn't they want to test their abilities against a famous Jedi, especially when their head honcho Sith Lord is all but begging them to do everything they can to just fucking end him?

But then, of course, because Obi-Wan is Obi-Wan and he's never one to back down from a challenge, I do find it very compelling and hilarious that his go to reaction when faced with a Sith/Dark Sider is to just taunt and drag them for filth. It's almost like he can't help himself. He's just so clearly unimpressed with them and it's really funny to see the Sith/Dark Sider he's facing get riled up over that. They take is so fucking personally. Every. Single. Time.

Like: "How fucking dare he not take me seriously! How dare he imply that I'm not his equal! How dare he criticize my fashion sense and my abilities in the force! How dare he try to lecture me on the better way to execute my attacks (even if that was actually sort of helpful advice, but I will die before I ever admit that)!"

The fucking gall of this guy, amiright fellas?

So to get back to my original point: Do you guys think Obi-Wan ever regretted his flirting/taunting tactics? Because clearly all those ever did was sort of encourage the Sith/Dark Siders he faced to become a little bit more obsessed with him. Maybe even a little enamored (not in a romantic sense, but no shame to those who like this interpretation). It's weird 'cause aside from Darth Sidious, most of the Sith Obi-Wan encounters seem to sort of respect him? If not on an individual level, at they very least they respect him as a worthy opponent and fighter.

(Small aside: I don't know if I'd go so far as to say Maul ever truly respected Obi-Wan. I'm sure on some level he must have because he literally made obsessing over Obi-Wan his entire personality. But I'd concede that maybe somewhere, deep deep DEEP down in his tiny little cockroach of a heart, Maul respected Obi-Wan enough to at least hate him to the point that even death could not stop him from continuing to wreak havoc on his life.)

And while, yes, this tactic is very amusing to watch and clearly a quite successful one ... I can't help but wonder if maybe it works a little too well. Lord knows Anakin/Darth Vader and Maul never got over Obi-Wan's little taunts. And Asajj seemed to all but look forward to trading witty remarks with him at every given opportunity, even when they were temporary allies. Dooku, of course, basically went full grandpa mode trying to reconnect with his grandson and then took full offense to said grandson not buying into his Sithy bullshit. Obi-Wan didn't even give Dooku a chance to finish submitting his request for adoption/Force custody before dragging his ass for failing Qui-Gon.

I'm almost willing to bet that if Obi-Wan had been alone in a room with Darth Sidious (master plan and true identity fully revealed), Sheev would just withered to an even wrinklier raisin after the absolute READ Obi-Wan would have given him.

Tldr: I just think the idea of a worn out Obi-Wan lying face down on the floor while regretting all his life choices--mainly the whole "I must throw my opponents off by flirting as much as possible. Yes, this is an actual tactic and not am excusable way I can be petty while not violating the Jedi Code"--is a fucking hilarious mental image.

EEE! First ask! (Hais, I fucking love you) There is a lot that has been going downhill, but I can kind of list out a few (from the top of my head) -The infantilization of Persephone (Also a fetish!!!). It was half-decent in the first season, but it slowly went downhill, and now she quite literally looks like a toddler with large breasts. She even acts like one! -She's quite literally Rachel's self-insert (I'm not even kidding, this is true). The thing is, I would be fine if it was quietly hinted at or something, but nOOooOO, it is VERY obvious. Especially after Season 2. -Fetishes. There. Are. So. Many. Fetishes. Thrown around. You don't realize until you look into it, but it is THERE. (especially feet. I swear Persephone has her dogs out all the time. Usually Hades is doing something with them too.) And sure, fetishes are normal, I don't care about them but Lore Olympus is the face of Webtoon. -How all the men clamor over Persephone and all fall in love with her. When it happens, it gets REALLY obvious that Persephone is a self-insert. The men who don't are portrayed as bad guys. -Apollo and the rape thing??? My rant on this is actually my top post lmao, but Apollo rapes Persephone (and then now all the Lore Olympus fans start hating on people who like myth Apollo. Quote on the word myth). I am a victim of assault (not rape), and how they potrayed it in a way that was nearly romantic disgusts me. -How all the characters were mischaracterized. Especially Demeter. She was someone who loved her daughter and grieved her and started winter because of her and Lore Olympus took her and made her some over-controlling mother (Persephone also took her Winter.) Apollo is now a bad guy. Hades is now a good guy. *shudders* -The whole storyline and unfinished plotholes. Rachel literally forgets about 64% of her plots. Not only that, when she's called out on it she throws a hissy fit. (She thoughts Apollo raping Persephone was romantic! She literally had to be told by her fans it was rape. Then she proceeded to make it the worst plot ever. -How Hades is a groomer and a pedophile and is portrayed as romantic. I am a victim of assault. It makes me want to cry sometimes. -Rachel making all these sex things, pedophilia, and things that are definitely not suited for YOUNG TEENS (majority of her readers) and is AWARE OF IT. There is so much more but it's getting long. The romanticism of the grooming and the mischaracterizations piss me off the most. (Funny story. I had this like substitute debate teacher who had LOHades as his Slack profile. Hi! Loved your posts a lot. I love Nightwing and redhood .But the thing that annoyed a hell out of me is the way fandom jason is potrayed . Jason stans always want jason to be Nightwing 2.0.Their question is always like why jason isn't respected among heroes like dick? Why jason doesn't lead the titans like dick? .Was jason as good looking as dick?. Jason should be well suited to be spy than dick . Jaybabs is better than dickbabs.Dick is worst friend to roy. Jason should be Tim role model not dick.sometimes it confuses me if they both have same personality with different names. What's your thoughts on this.

I want to step carefully with this answer because I don't want to make it seem like Jason fans are a monolith (they're most definitely not, half of my Cool People in this fandom are the most excellent DC fans you'll ever meet and Jason is Their Guy!!!) or that I'm talking about anything other than a very specific subset of fans. And that any time I say "Jason fans", it is specifically about the subsection who falls into this, not the whole of his fandom!! And, as a caveat, I'm only talking about my experiences in Jason fandom--of which I do consider myself a part of!--but that someone else who is deeper into Jason fandom than I am may have COMPLETELY different experiences than what either you or I have experienced! And, to be clear, I will point the finger in any direction, that every Bat has a subset of fans that is deeply frustrating, Tim fans have it, Damian fans have it, Dick fans have it, Bruce fans have it, etc. Every one of them has that group of fans that I go ??? over. But also I think I should be clear in that I think we should try to approach other corners of fandom with empathy, because a) we're all annoying nerds to someone else as well, that's just what fandom is and b) this fandom is hostile enough over comic book characters of all things, I'm going to try to limit the amount of gasoline I throw on the fire. ;) I think what causes a lot of fanon Jason in a certain subset of fandom comes from a mix of - Not a lot of regular appearances/his own book/GOOD appearances in his own book/a consistent characterization in those books - A lot of people read more fic than they do the comics - People naturally want their babygirl to have nice things, that's a pretty human response - Jason was kind of created to be a Dick Grayson clone in the first place, in some ways, so it's a natural extension

Jason fans have it rough in canon because he is all over the place, he's not written consistently, so half of the time he's written as the woobie, half of the time he's written as two steps away from being full villain, and it feels like every author has a different take on how Jason sees himself or what he wants. It's hard to agree on what Jason's character is like/what the point of him in the larger comics landscape is, because even the canon can't agree on that. So, then you throw in all these epically long fics that are written by extremely talented authors, who have a consistent take within their own writing, which explores Jason's issues in a way that feels like it has a lot more depth and vulnerability to him, and it's easy to go, yeah, okay, comics are kind of thin, but now I have this strongly developed sense of him in my mind! And when comics don't match that, when Jason is meaner or more of a villain or less cool in the comics, because the comics didn't do all that character work, the fic did, it becomes easy to go, "This isn't what Jason deserves, he deserves to have his issues explored better!" And, like. Jason does deserve better than what Nu52 gave him. It's a thing that a lot of fic vs comics have--like, there's a subset of Tim's fandom that writes him as the most delicate character ever (there's a lot of fic that explores Tim's vulnerabilities, I am not talking about those!!!) and, guess what, has to make Dick a terrible person in those fics as well, like the whole "Dick tried to send Tim to Arkham" is a straight up lie about what happened, but how many of us have still come across it? Which I think comes from that Dick Grayson is a character that you just kind of can't remove from the foundational Batman narrative and mythos, like you can't remove Bruce and still get what you need for the set-up--but Bruce occupies the space of "Dad" for the characters, so he has a very different, defined place in the Robin Of Choice's life. Dick, on the other hand, you can't just lift him out--he created Robin, he was the one that dragged Bruce out of the dark in the first place and created the role of Adopted Kid Who Bruce Is Complicated About, and still occupies that space very strongly. Even when he hasn't been Robin in a long time, his shadow casts extremely long, because honestly I'll die on the hill that I think he's everyone's favorite Robin to this day. Bruce? Yeah. Jason? Yeah. Tim? Yeah. Damian? Even if he never met Robin!Dick, I'd bet he's still say Dick was his favorite Robin. Superman? Explicitly said it in a comic.

(And I feel like there's an element that can be explored on how Dick also set the expectation of how to grow out of being Robin--he moved on to being Nightwing, so we expect that of the other Robins. I've been complaining forever that Tim needs to be allowed to finally do this, to step out of being Robin and not just be Red Robin, but to find his own unique thing. And, honestly, that probably does look more like Nightwing than not. I think there's an expectation that eventually Damian will realize that he doesn't want to be Batman and will instead be something else--or at least that it's a strong possibility. Which again looks a lot more like Nightwing than it maybe should. Because what else do you do with characters when you want to establish them out on their own? So Jason should follow that same path, right? He's kind of halfway onto it, with being Red Hood now, it's just that Red Hood has such a complicated history with how many people he's murdered, so what other options should there be? And patterning him after Nightwing, just as his Robin was patterned off of Dick's Robin in a lot of ways, could be a natural step forward for him there, too.) So, the specter of Dick Grayson hangs over the role and the Bat-son's place in Bruce's life--two things that are big issues in Jason's life. Then you add in that Jason was basically created to replace Dick Grayson exactly, like you can't even tell the difference in half of the panels of Jason's time as Robin if you don't already know. Then you add in that, to try to flesh out Roy's character, they gave him Roy and Kory as friends, two people who were Dick's friends first. And that makes sense--who else would you have as Jason's friends, given his general age? The Justice League is too old for him, Young Justice is too young for him, the only major team in his age bracket are the Titans--characters he does have some connection with, via Roy and Kory. And it's a natural question of, well, why didn't Jason lead them, too? Because Dick lead a team, Tim lead a team, it felt like a thing Robin was supposed to do, to the point that, when Dick introduced Damian to the Teen Titans, he automatically assumed he would lead (well, that's also just Damian XD) because that's what Robins do, why shouldn't Jason, too? So, I see where all of it comes from and understand the appeal--it's a lot more fun than the canon for Jason can be at times and feels like it understands his character better and fanon Jason is a lot more likeable and there's often times a lot that's explore that is really, really good character stuff. I think a lot of Dick's characteristics get ported over to Jason because there's just not as much else established for him in the canon, whether friends or a solidified narrative presence or even a consistent characterization, and Dick's a fun character, he has a rich history of friends and complicated dynamics with characters, like his relationship with Bruce is ridiculously fun to dig into, his relationship with Jason can actually be really interesting, his relationship with Tim is both adorable and has some nice crunch, his relationship with Damian is heart-wrenching--who wouldn't want a character with a wealth of dynamics and characterization to step into? Especially when you go back to canon and Jason's borderline a villain who isn't justified in killing people but still does it anyway, whose trauma is not getting explored in a way that's as satisfying as fanon's version of him is, because canon Jason is a lot more of a hot mess and stepped over the line, while fanon Jason tends to be more righteous and still on the right side of the line. (Or at least intended to, there's a lot of "Jason should be allowed to kill people and not be a bad guy for it." out there.) I think this is why I get a lot of Jason fans reblogging my comics posts about canon who yell at me for liking garbage comics when, guys, I'm just reacting to what's actually on the page for Jason.

Jason is a character who has this massive fandom that has been built up around the potential of the character, much of which had to be borrowed from Dick because that's the only really available options and because his central relationship (the one with Bruce) has so many parallels to Dick's relationship (with Bruce) and because Dick being who he is means that he's very easy to like (Dick's not perfect and I'm certainly biased here, but I do genuinely think that Dick is pretty easy to like as a person) and because he has such a rich history of dynamics and relationships that fans see as being really fun to explore, if only Jason had had those relationships instead. I suspect a lot of it comes down to that there's this massive fandom for Jason--fic, posts about him, fanart of him, headcanons for him, etc., throw a rock in fandom and you'll hit a popular post that has Jason as their babygirl Blorbo--and comics themselves don't often match that and comics fandom are pretty notorious for hating their source material/throwing it out in a way that's borderline assumed default MO, so Jason fans aren't any different from people complaining that this comic or that comic coming out right now are garbage. Anyway, that's been my experience. It's not that Jason fandom doesn't do unique things with Jason's character (his death is different from what Dick's experienced, his relationship with Bruce does often come in different flavors, etc.) but the places where they overlap are ones that I can understand why it happens, even if I often personally find that it doesn't match up to who he is in the source material now and feel like there's a lot of really good, crunchy unexplored angles for a character who has been deeply hurt, but went over the line about it, like that's why the recent short story in Beast World Tour: Gotham went so hard for me, because it felt like it had teeth and claws in a way that I've been wanting for Jason for a long time.

How do you reconcile the Nazi-apologia aspects of Hetalia as a Jewish fan (I presume you are Jewish because you made a Passover headcanon, if you are not, apologies). I don't mean this as a callout or accusation or anything, I'm asking for advice. I'm also Jewish, and I want to enjoy Hetalia, like, I stumbled on this fandom and this anime and I want to enjoy it! But I can't get the guilt and shame out of the back of my head.

I don't think Himaru intentionally meant Hetalia to be anti-Semetic. I'm not accusing anyone of being a Holocaust denier for engaging in this fandom. But it doesn't change the fact that this anime is about the Axis Powers during WWII and they're portrayed as good guys. Like, you can't even argue they're villain protagonists or anything they're just straight up lil cinnamon rolls. And it is fucking adorable, but it makes me feel so dirty! Like, its not intentional but when I'm watching any WWII episode or reading one of the WWII strips I'm watching it feels like Nazi apologia. And when these characters' fascist uniforms are their standard designs, when the imagery of fascism is used without context, it unintentionally erases the real, extremely fucked up, and personally traumatizing, history.

So how do you personally find a balance? Like how do you engage in a way you feel like doesn't cause further harm? How do you reconcile canon, history, and your own thoughts on these characters? And do you have any advice on how I can?

I've thought a lot about this question since I got it, and I have a lot of thoughts but I don't know if I can organize them very well. （also yes I am Jewish you assumed right)

So I guess the first thing I'll tackle is that my own thoughts on the characters trump everything in canon, especially with Germany. For an American, I have a pretty strong connection with Germany. I've had a German penpal since I was 13, I've visited Germany, one of my favorite professors was German, and right before I started typing this I spent almost 3 hours talking with the German students that come to the music camp I work at. I've met a LOT of Germans in my relatively short life, so I have that personal connection to influence my thoughts on the Hetalia character. And I've completely separated my view on the German people from my view on that time in their history. I think then it was easy for me to separate the character Germany from that time in history.

Bouncing off from that, Hetalia isn't REALLY about WW2. Yes, the catalyst for Germany, Italy, and Japan being friends is WW2, but there's nothing in the anime that is explicitly WW2. The "battle" scenes take place on a deserted island, their "war meetings" amount to nothing, and no specific dates or events are really mentioned when WW2 is involved. Now in the manga, however, I kinda just steer clear of the specific WW2 stuff?? But even then the only example of Hima explicitly mentioning something that happened in WW2 I can actually recall is an old strip about the Anschluss. That strip is from very early Hetalia though and Hima has definitely shifted his focus to other aspects of world history and culture.

Another thing about Hetalia is that pretty much everyone is a "good guy". There are no real antagonists or villains. There are literally only protagonists, with the main protagonists being the axis powers.

From your ask I kinda gather that you're very new to Hetalia and maybe you have the wrong impression of the anime and fandom from people who hate it. But honestly, Hetalia is not inherently antisemetic or even about WW2 when you really get down to the meat of it. Hetalia is a comedy anime and it doesn't take itself or the things it's presenting seriously (with some exceptions). Hima doesn't really doesn't delve too deeply into ANY of the history he potrays, so it would be a little out of place to see him addressing the very serious war crimes committed by those countries.

Also idk where to fit this in, but the countries in Hetalia are not representative of their government, but their people. Which I think is how Hima avoids talking about serious war crimes committed by governments. He's more interested in talking about culture, rather than history. Or he uses historical settings to talk about fun facts or culture.

I understand feeling guilty though. Personally, I avoid the historical hetalia side of the fandom, just so I never run the risk of seeing something weird (not saying that people regularly write that kind of stuff). In my own art and thoughts about the show, I'm more interested in portraying the characters as real, modern people, based on my own experiences with people from those countries. I also do a lot with my favorite character Austria, who is jewish coded. My favorite characters in the series are the axis affiliated ones, countries I've visited and met people from and built a connection with. But I've also been in the fandom for 10+ years at this point, so it's much easier for me to entirely change Hima's characters and morph them into something that fits what I want.

I'm really tired because I've been working a music camp all week, so I hope this makes sense. I definitely have more thoughts and I'd love to talk to you more about this, please feel free to dm me here and we can exchange discords or something. I always like talking to other jewish hetalia fans, and I think it's nice to have these kinds of conversations so we can help each other.

But to answer your question in a short way - I just don't think about it. Maybe that makes me a bad person but it's what I have to do at this point, because I can't not like hetalia

"don't you ever wonder how it would be like?" Felix brought his face near yours and asked you "hm?"

You could feel your face getting warm as you stare into his eyes "w-what?" You stammer hoping he wouldn't notice anything

"do you ever wish we were in a movie?" He asked you grinning

Thankgod he didn't notice anything different

"pft no that would be silly" you remark watching Felix frown "I don't think ive never wished that"

I've always wished for that, every night before sleeping, everyday after waking up

"really? You never wanted to be the star in your movie?" Felix asked you

"No.. not really"

Yea... All the time, if it means things could be different between us

"well" Felix huffed as he crossed his arms "I have. Just wait y/nnie. I'm gonna find the kind of love they talk about in the movies, I might not have found them yet but I'll find them!" he exclaimed

You felt a pang of pain in your heart, what about you? Could you be the kind of love Felix was searching for?

"yea yea alright mr. Romantic that enough. Now help me clean up my bed" you stand up clearing your throat

Felix smiled at you and yoy felt your heart melt

"I'll clean up don't worry-"

"we can do it together it's fine"

"no hey wait-"

"yea you, your charming. Got everybody starstruck"

It was a understatement to say that Felix was attractive.

With a smile as pretty as that and a personality as bright as the sun, you weren't surprised that you fell for him

The thing was, so did everyone else.

"uh ...hi uhm I just wanted to say-" a blushing girl approached you and Felix in the cafe

You look behind her to see another group of girls who were hyping her up. Oh boy, this was the third time this is happening today. You look over to Felix who was seated facing you, he didn't seem to mind nor notice

"hi.. can I help you?" He asked in his deep voice and you could almost swear that the girl would have fainted any second. You can't blame her though, you always felt yourself swooning over his voice as much as you tried not you.

You raise you eyebrows as the girl struggles to form sentences getting annoyed

You clear your throat and Felix throws you a dirty look

you throw him another look

"do you need something?" You ask the girl who only seemed to notice you now, staring between you and Felix dumbfounded

"oh uh- I didn't know you had a lover" she said as she looked at you.

"they're not my lover" Felix quickly corrected her with a smile

It pained you to see how fast he was to correct her, was it that bad for him when others thought that they were dating? Was it that bad for him to imagine you as his lover?

"oh! I'm glad to hear that!" The girl exclaims, completely shifting her attention to Felix now

You decided at this moment that you didn't like her. Not one bit

"My name is Yuna. I was hoping to get your number? If that is you want to give it to me ofcourse!"

Hah no way Felix would give his number to her..right?

"I know how you always seem to go. For the obvious instead of me"

"I can't believe it...a girl like that liked me y/n!" Felix said to you a little to excited for your liking on the bus ride back to your apartment

"I can't believe you gave your number to her..what was so special about her.." you mumble to yourself looking out of the window.

"wow..she was so cute. Don't you think so? Could she be the one?" Felix continued to ramble on as he talked animatically

You felt the tears prick your eyes, Felix always went for the obvious choice. Pretty girls with long hair and big eyes.

What about you, couldn't you have been a choice for him? Did the thought ever occur to him that you were there too?

"hey y/n you okay?" Felix asked you in concern when you didn't reply back to anything he said

"oh yea..I'm fine. I'm just a little tired" you mumble while refusing to look at his face.

"here you can sleep on me. I don't mind" Felix said smiling "my shoulder is reserved specially for my bestfriend!"

You weakly smile back as you rest your head in his shoulder as you felt small butterfly's erupt in your stomach just by the contact between your head and Felix's shoulder

Bestfriend... really? Is that what you'll ever be to Felix?

"hey Felix?"

"hm? Yea?"

"are you gonna contact that Yena girl?" You say the wrong name intentionally wondering if Felix would correct you.

"it's Yuna" Felix quickly said

Oh..he did correct you

"and yes I will" Felix paused for a while "...she had the prettiest face. She's the one..I feel it" he pressed his heart and his cheeks tinted red

"oh okay Lix.." you try your best to blink your tears away. You pressed your heart and you could almost swear that you heard it cracking.

"But get a ticket and you'll see"

You watch as Felix showed you numerous different outfits

"do you think this looks good?" He asked you everytime he tried something on

You've never seen him act like this before, he never behaved like this on all his other dates except for Yuna.

You grew to hate that name, the name that made Felix smile all widely, the name that Felix loved.

The name that made Felix's heart skip a beat while yours cracks even more

You try to pick the worst outfits for him to wear but everything looks so good on him its impossible for you to sabotoge his date.

But how could you sabotoge his date? How could you when Felix was so excited? When he told you that she was the one, when he sang her name everytime the both of you hanged out

How could you possibly sabotage Felix and Yuna's relationship when it brought joy to Felix, you weren't that cruel.

You didn't mind breaking your heart for Felix.

"wear this outfit" you point out to him "it will make her heart skip a beat. I swear"

"really? What makes you so sure?"

Because it made my heart skip a beat

"just trust me okay?"

Felix grinned at you "thankyou y/n..I don't know what I would do without you!"

"I don't know what I would do without you too" you whisper to yourself as you watch Felix carefully pick up the outfit you chose for him

"Now go get ready or you'll be late for your date" you laugh out even though there was nothing funny "c'mon you don't want to keep Yena waiting?"

"whatever" you roll your eyes as you push him to get ready

You stare at the freckles which were splattered all over Felix's cheeks looking like constellations.

You watch his grin grow wider as his fingers began typing even faster

"who are you texting?" You ask him even though you already know the answer

"Yuna" he quickly said without breaking contact from his screen

There seemed to be a question plaguing your mind ever since Yuna and Felix started dating.

You always asked yourself what did Yuna do that you didn't for Felix to fall head over heals over her?

What did she have that you didn't?

You continue staring at Felix's smile, the pure genuine smile that was reserved only for Yuna and never you

Those eyes which showed nothing but pure admiration for Yuna once used to bring comfort to you but now it brought nothing but pain. You knew he looked at her in a way he'll never look at you

You knew that Felix was perfect. He knew you better than anyone.

He knew that your favourite colour was blue but not the sort of blue that painted the sky, the sort of blue that the ocean had.

He knew that you hated thunderstorms but loved the rain

He knew just how you liked your coffee and how much sugar to add

Felix was perfect for you

But you weren't perfect for him

You were clumsy and forgetful but not in a cute way, rather in a annoying way

It shocked everyone but you didn't mind one bit. As long as you had Felix it was fine. As long as you had your friendship with Felix it was fine.

They say it's hard for middle school friendships to last but that wasn't the case for you and Felix. Until you fell inlove with him during highschool.

And you've been inlove with Felix ever since.

But could you be blamed? Of course you were going to fall for him. Did you try to stop yourself? Yes but did it work? No quite the contrary instead you found yourself falling for him even deeper as the days went by

All those small hugs, small presents, words of affirmations and constant smiles had made you fall for him even harder.

There were times when you wondered if Felix could ever fall for you.

We're all those small lingering hugs there for nothing? Those showers of compliments from him whenever you felt insecure

The thing is, it was love. But it wasn't the kind of love you wanted from Felix

You wanted him to kiss you softly like he does to Yuna, you wanted him to hum into your ear like he does to Yuna

In movies, the bestfriends always fall inlove with eachother. They realise that they've been inlove this whole time and end up together happy.

But this wasn't the movies and this wasn't a sappy romcom.

This was real life

And your bestfriend was inlove with someone else.

Watching Yuna and Felix hold each other's hand was one thing, them leaning on eachother was another but being their third wheel was the last straw.

"hey uh- I'm gonna go. I already saw this movie so-" you grab your bag as you stand up

"oh you did?" Felix asked so nonchalantly "okay see you"

He was probably glad you were going after all he wanted to spend time with his girlfriend. Alone

"okay..let's meet up in the cafe nearby y/n" Yuna whispers to you giving your hand a slight squeeze as if she was signalling you a thankyou for giving them their alone tims

You wince slightly as you walk out of the theater quickly, you didn't want to be around them another minute

You rush out of the theater hall not looking infront of you causing you to bumb into someone, dropping your bag

"oh my god I'm so sorry" you apolagise as you scramble down to pick up your bag and all the items that was spilled on the floor

"hey it's chill. No problem" a male voice says as he helps you pick up your things

You look up to meet a pair of fox eyes and plump lips which quickly turned up to smile at you

"I'm Yeonjun. You alright? You looked like you wanted to get out of there" he pointed to the theater hall from which you rushed out from

"hah..yea I guess you could say that" you sling you bag onto your shoulder "thankyou for helping me"

"no problem" Yeonjun smiles at you lifting his eyes expectantly

"oh- sorry I'm y/n...uh I already saw the movie so..." You quickly ramble

"y/n... pretty name" the boy said "too bad you already saw that movie. I heard it sucks tho?"

You let out a laugh "it kinda does"

"hm...do you want to watch another movie?" He points to another movie poster "i heard that pretty good"

Your eyes widen at his sudden proposal unsure of what to say. Your eyes drift to the poster he pointed to and to the theater hall you just escaped from

Yeonjun smiles at you "what do you say?"

What could go wrong? Isn't this what always happens in the movies?

"sure...I'd like to watch that movie"

Yeonjun grins at you "I'll get the tickets. Just wait here"

You watch Yeonjuns figure approach the counter. He turns around to give you a thumbs up.

"the movies gonna start. let's go" Yeonjun grabs your hand as he leads you to the theater hall.

You watch the pitch black screen slowly turn bright, you looked over to the boy sitting next to you. It reminded you of a scene in a movie or a book you read.

Maybe you didn't mind that it was just like the movies. Maybe you always wanted it to be.

THANK YOU finally someone here has a good take regarding the "haha barok and kazuma violently hate each other" thing?? ppl insisting that their dynamic post-game is always gonna keep being the exact same as when they're at their most extreme emotional states just... baffles me, especially since they're literally shown to be civil to each other right afterwards. it's Right There! idk why so many ppl ignore this! in general their circumstances are so unique that it's a huge disservice to boil them down just to being haters.. like yeah they're gonna be huge mess after everything, but not in the way that fandom usually potrays them. if kazuma fully hated the guy i don't think he'd insist on keeping the apprenticeship the way he did in game. sorry if any of this makes no sense, i have too much bottled up rage regarding fandom nonsense. nuance and character growth are nonexistent to people here

also scrolled through your other posts a tiny bit and i feel you, it truly is hard to be in this fandom and not be an as//ry liker, especially if you're a kazuma enjoyer. difficulty level: impossible. you're not alone tho! :')

ANON….THANK U…..i feel like a big problem with the dgs fandom in particular is that they dont really consider how 2-5 affects character dynamics post-canon? because all the change is right there. ive talked about this but its like portraying kazuma’s relationship with ryuunosuke as Exactly The Same post-canon when it would be DRASTICALLY different despite them still loving each other very much, because ryuunosuke now sees all of kazuma. he was only seeing a very small part of who he was before, and his entire perception of his best friend got dismantled and replaced by a completely different one in a really short period of time.

the exact same is true for kazuma and barok: they have despised each other so deeply and irrevocably for a DECADE and now suddenly they have to accept the fact that nobody really did anything wrong. kazuma tried to send barok to his death, but he was doing it out of grief and rage built up over ten years. barok convicted genshin and that led to him dying, but he was young and naïve and grieving and being manipulated by stronghart the entire time. genshin killed klint but he did so honorably. klint was a murderer but all he wanted was to make his home a better place for the people in it. its all so complicated and nobody is completely innocent or completely at fault. everyone did something wrong for good reasons and everyone did something good for the wrong reasons. it’s too nuanced of a situation for them to truly go on hating each other the way they used to, because they’re both MATURE ADULTS who can understand the intricacies of the situation.

do i think they dunk on each other post-canon? i mean. yes. obviously. do i think they HATE each other, still, to this inane degree? no. obviously. their relationship is going to be strained. there’s literally no way that it wouldn’t be. but they respect each other, they hold each other in high regard, and they’re respectful. and it sucks because these changes in dynamics are literally SHOWN at the end of 2-5 but people just like. cant. comprehend them. like i just don’t get it. also if kazuma is going to hate anyone in the cast its going to be herlock like he fucking SHIPPED HIS AMNESIAC CORPSE TO CHINA and never apologized for it i would NOT be letting that go anytime soon

SYPNOSIS — `` | minji has done everything in her power to pursue her greatest story but all of it seems to backfire at her. was love always this cruel? it wasn't like anything kim minji had envisioned before.

kim minji has always thought of her life like it was a story.

a story so well-written that whoever reads it falls in love with it the moment they've seen the first sentence. minji likes to think that she was the main heroine of a romance novel that potrays the perfect life of hers.

however, she had never gotten a romantic partner in her entire life.

sure, many had confessed to her about their feelings— but she knew that what they felt towards her was only temporary attraction that would disappear after losing interest in her. minji has read far too many books where those kind of confessions were written.

“the moment my eyes caught sight of you, it was like love at first sight.”

that was the most familiar sentence she had seen from all those letters she'd received. minji thinks that 'love at first sight' is simply stupid. what stupid person would fall in love just by seeing someone for the first time?

and then, pham hanni— oh-so-gorgeous and talented foreign exchange from australia pham hanni came and ruined her vision of love at first sight.

kim minji swears that the first time she had laid her eyes at hanni, there was that butterfly feeling she had heard of in her stomach. it was surreal, really.

the foreign student looked so ethereal with their school's uniform, it fits her albeit a bit too perfectly.

oh wow, look who was experiencing that 'stupid' love at first sight. how truly ironic.

"hi, uhm, do you mind if i sit here...?"

minji loved hanni's honey-like voice— perhaps the angels had rang the bell from heaven because she was hooked from the first time she had heard of it.

"oh, not at all!" the kim recovered quickly and flashed a small smile at the shorter girl, looking at her friends who only gave their own thumbs-up.

she just noticed it now, but hanni was speaking in slight broken korean— well, what could minji say? she was a foreign exchange student! duh, minji. "my name is minji kim, by the way. you can call me just minji!"

it was a relief that she had her fair share of english-speaking experience. the exchange student seemed stunned for a second before that smile took over her face, "hanni pham. i'm pleased to meet you, minji."

ah, if minji could turn back time, she would have encourage her younger self to push hanni away.

what a big mistake she had done.

that was the first flaw in kim minji's greatest story.

minji never knew why she agreed on the date that changed everything for both her and hanni.

she should have known better.

"minji, you look great! stop pacing around, you're making us all dizzy!"

her friends (who had helped her find the perfect outfit for this 'date') were fed up by her constant mutterings about how nervous she was and how she wanted to back down now.

"but guys–!"

"seriously, min. you're looking incredible! and don't back down now, it's finally your chance."

the girl huffed, trying to calm herself down. "she's almost here, you know." one spoke bluntly, making the now calm female panic again. "great job!" they smacked the former whilst minji looked at her mirror.

"you'll be fine... it's just pham hanni..."

it's just pham hanni.

it's just that damned pham hanni.

there was a knock on her door, making her snap out of her daze. "SHE'S HERE—!" the kim slapped her hand on one of her friend's mouth, glaring at them for being so loud. "shush!"

they began pushing minji down the stairs, practically forcing the girl to her date. "you got this, min! it's just that pham hanni!"

right, it's just that pham hanni.

she took a deep breath before opening the door, pushing her friends to hide. there she saw that pham hanni, grinning brightly as she stood in front of kim minji.

"hey, min! ready for our... date?"

there was a blush painting her cheeks for a second as she hesitated, smile growing shy.

minji, flustered and not trusting her voice at the moment, only nodded with a meek smile.

"uhm, let's go?"

"sure!"

if the present minji could turn back to that day, she would've convinced the minji back then to listen to her thoughts.

"it's not a date— you do not like hanni, kim minji."

ah, what a shame.

"ma, did you regret anything in your past?"

to hear her daughter, out of all people, question her that, minji was thrown back to reminiscing her days back then and she thought back to those days where the flaws in her perfect story started to appear— all because of one person.

pham hanni.

"no, i had never done anything to regret my past."

minji could remember it quite vividly. how she fell in love so quickly with that idiot's antics, how her stupid smile seemed so infectious, how her eyes seemed to hold the stars that were supposed to be in the dark skies, how hypnotizing her voice sounded whenever she was talking or singing.

everything about pham hanni is so perfect— minji thought of her as another main heroine in her perfect little story. that was such a mistake in her part because hanni— her precious hanni pham turned out to be the main antagonist in her story.

quite the unexpected kind of antagonist, if i must say so myself.

their separation was inevitable. kim minji, herself, had known this ever since the day they first got into a heated argument. hanni would always walk away as to not continue their argument and goes straight to y/n's room, eyes losing the anger that consumed it at the sight of her daughter.

how does minji know this? of course, she had seen it.

pham hanni loved her daughter more than anything. she was the one who thought of the name 'y/n' back when they were still in high school, it was oh-so-sweet at first. she loves the name, really she does!

but now, all kim minji could taste was the bitterness of that pham's broken promises whenever she was talking with her beloved daughter whom she had taken custody over of.

minji does not blame y/n for their separation throughout all those years, she knew that it was for the better if her relationship with hanni ended before it could do some real damage on the child's life.

but y/n— oh-so-innocent and naive kim y/n is so much like that woman.

their personality, resemblance in many ways, and everything; it was completely the same. minji hated it but can she really say that out loud? she loves her daughter with her whole heart, after all.

but that aside, the kim knew that she had to end it all herself.

their relationship was very much toxic and highly mentally draining. arguments were like a daily routine for them, insults always thrown around in the air, tension is always thick and suffocating, shading each other, and things she could not bring herself to remember anymore.

and on that very day, kim minji snapped.

"wouldn't it be just better to end this now, pham hanni?"

pham hanni never looked so pitiful until that very moment. "but min—"

"it's over for us, and you know it."

her voice was as cold as ice, poker face placed on so perfectly. ah, even now, she is flawless. her marvellous love story is finally coming into an end, what a shame. "min..."

"...i'm tired, hanni. i'm so sick of this. let's end this already."

she felt that familiar hand desperately clinging into her own, as if stopping her from doing what she had feared the most. "minji, please." hanni sounded so desperate.

minji almost felt bad for doing such a thing, but it had to be done.

"get out, pham hanni!"

"let's not— minji, stop. don't you care about what y/n would feel?!

they were raising their voices again, not caring if their daughter would hear them arguing now. "of course i care! she's my child, too!"

"then, why are you doing this?!"

"because i'm so sick of arguing with you every fucking day!"

minji never had thought that her story would become so... miserable.

"it's normal, isn't it?!"

"no, it's not! fuck, hanni... stop gaslighting yourself into thinking that all you've been doing is right all along!" she took a deep breath, calming herself a little as she held the doorknob of the entrance of their once cozy and warm home. "i'm doing it for our family!"

"did you think that leaving me alone for the whole day waiting for you to arrive home on our anniversary and forgetting about y/n when you were supposed to take her home strengthening our bond as a fucking family? well surprise, surprise! it does not! you're leaving a gap between y/n and me, not closing it, you idiot!"

hanni silenced herself, clutching her head in frustration as she closed her eyes. minji took a breather before speaking once more, "i loved you, hanni. so much that i ignored all those things your family and my family said about us. i tolerated those because i knew that you were always there for me, so... what happened to us?"

what happened to us?

that was the million dollar question that minji persistently tried to answer.

"what happened to the pham hanni i fell in love with? what happened to those promises you made with me...?" minji gripped the knob, feeling tears streaming down on her cheeks. she never bothered to wipe it away, expecting hanni to wipe the tears for her—

oh, right.

it's never going to happen when hanni is in a worser state than her.

"i loved you so much, hanni. you don't know how much time i've spent waiting for you to come home, how much time i've spent staring at my phone to see if you replied, how much time i've spent overthinking about what i did wrong for us to become like this!"

the kim panted lightly before turning away from the sight of the pham clinging into the door frame, "that was how much i've loved you, hanni. so, please get out of this house."

minji never cried before, not in front of hanni nor y/n— not in front of anyone. so, seeing her parents fighting once again and seeing her mother crying so much, y/n didn't waste any time; rushing to the scene right away.

"mom..? ma..?"

hanni slowly turned to her dearest daughter, smiling sadly with tears running on her cheeks before patting her head softly. "sorry, y/n. i made your ma cry," minji turned away from the two, not liking the fact that both of her loved ones (one former) was seeing her in such a miserable state.

"i'm going now. take care, alright? have the sweetest dream, you two. and i'm sorry again, for ruining our family."

"mom? where are you—"

hanni smiled at the confused look y/n had. "i'll be back soon, champ. we'll play all day when the time comes, alright?" the young y/n brightened up. "you promise?!"

"promise! in the meanwhile i'm gone, take care of your ma, alright?"

"of course!!"

"great! i'm going now, goodbye."

minji never bothered bidding her farewell, simply walking back to their shared room.

what has happened to us? perhaps, we were too in love that god got sick of it. perhaps, we were too happy in the eyes of others. perhaps, we're never really meant to be. she don't know, but one thing was for sure;

kim minji regretted so many things.

Tbh i don't know if I want "monsters" yn to ya know seek revenge, go into a dissociation episode or end up being critically hurt. Emma just trying her best to help yn out, so much that she snaps at her brothers "what if it was me who got hurt?".

That it takes Emma saying that for the two idiots to realize how cruel their being to yn. When they mainly Mikey promised to protect the weaker

Hmm, I've actually thought about this a lot.

I don't want to give too much spoilers because the answer to this might spoil the end but they might have an empathy moment. For now, the both of them think they're both in the right and their anger towards y/n is justified due to dehumanization.

Tbh for someone to be seen as weaker they have to be seen as human first. If you notice, the first chapter Mikey sees y/n as her new toy or a pet dog and Izana in the second chapter sees her as a thing - like a new drug to be addicted to. The two labels are dehumanizing and it is done on purpose so as not to see what they are doing as wrong. In the fic so far, Mikey is the nice guy and he watches out of girls. Izana is the troubled guy but sweet talks every of his girls to get what he wants, rather than be violent.

I wanted to potray that in the sense that as good as these two seem on the outside, they are capable of evil. Even in the original series, they are not above going low to hurt people when they feel wronged, even the ones they love. Sometimes, they know what they are doing IS wrong, but they feel it is out of their own control. It has to be this way. Which is why we had so many evil timelines.

I do think in the next chapter, the two brothers will see reader in a different light that will graduate her into protection. But not necessarily in a humane way (they've crossed that bridge) but more in a keeping a dog in a cage kind of way. Something to be looked at and loved only by them. Something they expect good behaviour from even after all the evil they have done.

As for reader, she's not going to be normal after chapter 2. She might seem normal, but you'll see cracks bit by bit, trying to hold on to her sanity, even to her own detriment. I know both her and Emma will snap at some point, but I'm still figuring out how to arrange the skeletons properly.

sheldon is also not the only one whos autistic imo. im not certain of who i all headcanon as such, but i feel its a fitting one for amy and bernadette actually. i think a lot of the problems with the way sheldon's autism is written is the fact that other characters don't *respect* him about it. like his needs and behaviors are often belittled or treated as nonsensical. overall i think everyone should be much kinder and understanding about it towards him seeing as they are literally his friends and all.

also probably a nitpicky thing and a matter of my own autistic sensory preferences but i feel it makes more sense for sheldon to NOT wear his sleeves rolled up for sensory reasons. whatever though im allowed to project. also i think they missed an opportunity to explore his interest in vexillology more? like there was maybe 1 or 2 episodes i remember about it but if youve ever met a vexillology enjoyer you know its a common topic they gush about.

speaking of gushing i think the dynamic between sheldon and amy would be like. two autistic best friends who love to infodump at eachother and do parallel activities. at most maybe they have some sort of queerplatonic thing going on? but im not actually super versed in what that means despite being aromantic myself xP

oh anothet thing that bothers me is how the female characters are written as not getting any of the geeky stuff??? it's stupid. like, yeah penny isnt a nerd, but she's an aspiring actress i think she would know what a star trek is. -_- honestly like, all of them would understand a lot of those things and are probably into similar stuff. bbt seems to think that like, these are Guy interests that all women dont understand or get when in reality like, dc comics n shit like that, literally your average person can follow along so i hate that they make the women seem as if they don't understand star wars references.

obviously this is probably one of the most common complaints about the show but id love to have made a lot of the pop culture references controlled and niche. we dont need a reference every other 5 minutes, id like to define each character's interests in a more sensicle way outside of just "haha guys look theres nerd stuff on tv hahah did you guys get that reference"?

also another problem is the way howard behaves. like some episodes his behavior is like, sexual harassment at times, which is met with a laugh track every time. not cool, and unnecessary, should be written to be more respectful. and then of course id like to make him have a better view of his mother, the dynamic in the show is one based off of antisemitic stereotypes about jewish mothers, and thats shitty. i wont retcon it to be a perfect mother/son relationship, like they would definitely still bicker, but i want to potray his mother as more than nagging and obsessive, like perhaps she does care too much and doesn't always treat him as an adult at times, but i dont find a lot of the overall nastiness that happens in the show between them to be funny or interesting.

raj is a pretty okay character imho, but definitely needs to be written more respectfully. He is a major example of the trope of characters of colour being sidelined. like the fact he was the ONLY character to be single in the end of the series? its kinda fucked up lol. obviously as mentioned before i think raj x howard should be the canon outcome. howeber both of them are bisexual, they both are potrayed as having interest in women; but i also think their interest in eachother is serious, or at least should be written as such. its also probably likely that the way he's written in terms of his culture should be improved but i havent gotten around to that just yet. i also think his anxiety issues should have been written with more respect, like the fact he was physically unable to talk to girls i think shouldnt have been an issue he had with *just* women. it seems they were trying to potray him as having selective mutism? but obviously thats not a thing that ONLY happens when one is a around ppl they r attracted to.

bernadette im actually rlly excited to write better because she reminds me of myself at times. i will dial her mischievous nature and her interest in microbiology up to 10. i will make her infodump about prions just i do.

also imho leonard is transmasc. i dont have any like, "evidence" or theory for why i think that other than just he feels that way to me. not that we even need justifications for transgender headcanons around these parts though.

also wil wheaton will NOT be existing anymore as a character in the narrative due to the fact he blocked me on tumblr for some dumbass shit. LOL.

light=good and pure and dark=bad. so i intentionally subvert in my stories. you can see this in Chaos where B'trayed is potrayed with white and are the Bad Guys and the heroes mostly wear darkerish clothing and are the good guys, or, to be more specific, Nick's uncle eventually gets the power of darkness but is the biggest dork of the cast and has a cat named Pancake

4.In your works, is blood thicker than water or is the blood of the covenant thicker than the water of the womb? (Are familial ties or friendship ties more important?)

its a mixture of both and it depends on the characters, though honestly i like leaning towards the latter.

this is from my last draft but a lot of the stuff i written in it will be carried over in the final draft because i'm just that iconic

10. What scene was the most fun to write for you and why?

i think it's the gala scene to be honest, mostly because i had fun describing what the characters were wearing and how it (mostly) correlates to their characterization (except for poor Nick because he hates suits lol)

in the final draft im gonna expand more and actually have them dance and maybe even fight dance at some point. yes i loved that scene in owl house why'd you ask

18. What writers have inspired you with their use of language? What are some of your favorite quotes?

aw man this one hurts because a long, long, long time ago i would've told you it was rick riordan and how he's the literal reason why i'm a writer because of how he described the world in the stories he write and how his characters influenced mine with his language (i dont have any quotes because memory problems lol) but i cant. cause he's a zionist. and it fucking hurts. so i gotta try to find more people to get inspired by so i can answer this one properly.

22. How do you come up with character names? Do the names have a special meaning? If so, what are they?

imma be real with you. i just go on behind the names and try to find the ones that are the most fitting for the character's personality lol there are some that fit; once again, Amandus, his name means worthy of love which i think its nice.

Is the Pjo fandom aware that Percy is like.......actually not a normal person.Not the demigod thing,i mean he's neurodivergent and has mental illnesses from trauma so his set of beliefs,thoughts,onward actions and tastes are completely different from society's ideals and norms.It's not like he acts the way he does as a joke or to look cool,it's kinda a big thing he can't stop acting like himself no matter what???It gives him self-eestem issues but it really is for the better for everyone involved because it makes him an actual role model for irl troubled kids who got to read him grow all the way up until adulthood alongside us and him never masking being potrayed as what made him the best and realest hero in the whole franchise

He's never been tempted to join the gods and talks shit to them because he has no interest in power and they're child abusers who run an oppressive system,not because he's a BAMF and 'sassy'.He dosen't try to cover up his 'sensitive' and 'soft' emotions because he thinks they're stupid,it's a defense mechanism from growing up with an abusive stepdad,ableist bullies and teachers and a society that expects peak masculinity from him despite his desire for femininity instead and there's a reason why almost all his friends in the og series were girls and he insults other guys based on being too manly

Related to that,her complete lack of romantic interest in Nico wasn't because she's 'a tragically straight boy' but because she's A)At least only partially a man(transfem bigender)and he's gay and B)Too old for him and has some damn decency so she loves and treats him like her little brother and pseudo-son instead and she shouldn't be expected to return his feelings,much less be called a bad person for not,when she never fucking said she likes him or flirted with him and he loves her as his older sister/brother and sees her as mom/dad back and she also proceeds to do the same with Hazel within ONE book of knowing her since she's in the same parental situation as Nico and she used to take care of Tyson before he moved in with Poseidon and of Bianca as well before she died

Her loving and dating Rachel at one point wasn't 'toxic' or 'unrealistic' or especially not 'one-sided',they were just two teenagers finding solace in eachother due to similar experiences and being happy to indulge in the other's interests to the point where it became some of their's too and y'all deserve to get smacked upside the head for having the AUDACITY to make fun of her when Percy was all over her and Jason more than he was Book!Annabeth's little femcel ass(not you Leahbeth,never you Leahbeth)and erase her to say 'Percy's type is blondes' as if any actual punk like Percy would be into someone because they live up to traditional standards and when she hates 2/5 of the blondes y'all are talking about(Luke and Apollo)and her demisexual ass barely knows 1/5 of them,them also having an actual canon bf(Magnus + Alex)

They never wanted to be normal or special,they wanted to be ACCEPTED.They're an outcast because they can't hide who they truly are even though none of what makes them different is bad but they're not this or they're so that so it can't possibly be actually good that they're the way they are and do the things they do and that's how they get treated in-universe AND by bloggers who have 'a woman's place is in the revolution' or 'Boykisser' on their theme but get squeemish at the thought of positive change or queerness that's not packaged shipping tropes.Percy Jackson's not suddenly 'the standard protagonist' instead of a staple of representation for freaks because you're a poser
