Teaching methods on Kamino change drastically after the Jedi Order starts to supervise the clones' training, which leads to a sort of generational/cultural shift: Clones of the first generation were exposed to considerably more brutal conditioning methods and objectification in their training than clones that would finish their training during the war.
Additionally, the Jedi encourage clone cadets to embrace, value, and insist on their self-worth, as demonstrated by, for example, Yoda and Plo Koon in the early episodes.
Hence, we can observe this stark contrast between Rex and Fives when confronted with a situation that requires them to stand up for themselves, as most prominently exemplified during the Umbara Arc.
Throughout the show we see multiple instances of Rex's struggle with prioritizing his loyalty for the Republic over his and his brothers' needs, while Fives is willing to die for what he believes is right.
Rex's individuality seems more defined by external means, constructed through his (forced) service as an extension of the Republic.
Fives's individuality seems more defined by intrinsic means, constructed through his (forced) service as an addition to the Republic.
I like the idea that this difference between Rex and Fives might reflect (it's just me speculating) the effect of the Jedis' philosophy and influence on the clones' training.

I see a lot of people perceive Dick to be Bruce's 'favorite' of all the robins. Would you say this is a fanon thing or is there some credibility to it?
This definitely has a canon basis. You often see Bruce thinking back about how much he misses the early days with Dick, other characters commenting that Bruce “seemed happier with Dick.” You have Bruce saying that Dick is the only thing he’s ever done right.
(Justice League of America #73)
One of the plot points of Under the Red Hood is that Jason believes if the Joker had killed Dick, Bruce would have killed the Joker. Yet Bruce won’t go that far for Jason (ouch). There’s also other writers in the industry who say that Dick Grayson’s death is the one thing that could get Bruce to kill.
In Infinite Crisis, this was explored after Dick took an energy blast meant for Bruce.
Bruce almost shot the person responsible. (BRUCE. The person who hates guns above all else.)
Bruce has never explicitly said that Dick is his favorite, but Dick is the only Batkid that Bruce consistently thinks back on and recognizes in this regard.
“And your favorite. Subject Beta– Grayson, Richard– Nightwing.” – Infinite Crisis #4
This is the closest we have to an admission of favoritism for Bruce, and it comes from OMAC, a program that Bruce designed. For that reason, I’d say this scene has a lot of credibility. For further thoughts on this subject, [click click].

Currently I am also 3/4ths of the way through Convergence (which I am enjoying very much, Path of Deceit is probably still my favorite of Phase II, but I think this one might be my second favorite, Lydia Kang's writing is really working for me here), halfway through Starlight Stories, and on episode 18 of Young Jedi Adventures.
All of it continues to be fun and I'm still impressed by the sheer number of moving parts that feel like they all fit well together and there are few individual moments that I feel the need to yell about, but what I think I would recommend this project for most is that feeling of a large scope story that's told throughout so many mediums and gives a sense of satisfaction for it. I don't approach The High Republic in the same way I necessarily do the originals or the prequels, I'm not personally really into it for fanworks (though, some of the fanart really scratches a nice itch) or a ton of meta (I tend to have prequels brain so my meta does get filtered through the lens of 'how does this parallel the prequels'), instead it's more of a story to experience. A really, really big story with a ton of characters that come and go and some really beautiful art to go along with it. I have affection for it and I could see it being a fanworks kind of jam for others, but I think it's also okay if you want to get into it just for the experience of a fun Star Wars spinoff series, however you approach THR is fine!
So, speaking of, how's everyone else's progress going? Have some of you picked it up recently? Made progress? Still in Phase I or are you caught up to Phase III? (Honestly, I think my favorite so far was Phase II, I feel like the world had settled into what it wanted to be and I liked the characters a lot in it, which makes me very curious how Phase III is going to go, now that they've had two phases to get their feet under them.)
