Ooooh~ Drink mix up? >.>
Because! Wes DID, in fact, get that dream job. HAS learned... after many, many hours of "beat about the head and shoulders with an ethics pamphlet by his great aunt", to keep his mouth shut! Family curse of Sight? WHAT family curse?
He doesn't see shit! Mind your business.
What're you? A cop?
Look, he sent Fenton a gift basket. He was a shitty, shitty "I have to be RIGHT and nothing else matters!" Stubborn lil asshole of a kid. He got better. Grew up. No one is there best Self during puberty. He DOES, in fact, regret it.
Which is WHY, he is deliberately ignoring Kent's terrible, awful, paper-thin, "who meee~?" Aw shucks BULLSHIT excuse of a disguise, like it isn't blatantly obvious he's Superman. Yep. Nothing to see here! Nothing but us chickens! Mmmmm, morning coffee! Delicious.
But see, here's the THING.
The Itty, bitty, teeny lil PROBLEM...
Wes grew up in Amity "Totally Not Supernatural Hotspot For Centuries" Park. He is... to put it mildly, genetically? A freak. His biology is ALL fucked up. Everyone's is. And it WAS NOT made better by the Fenton's playing fast and loose with their hell basement. The Ectoplasmic NUKE that was that portal.
There is a REASON his morning coffee? Is COVERED. Contained. Fenton brand, LEAD LINED, specialty cups. The sort that can't be EATEN from the inside out. Eroded after a few uses. They're ugly as sin, but they work. He even ordered a few covers from Star's etsy shop. (Apparently he wasn't the only one who hated how ugly they looked. Good for her though, he heard it was doing well.)
He SAYS this? 'Cause his morning brew is less... straight COFFEE... and more... how to put this? A blend? Brew? Potion, really. Like an energy drink. From hell. Or, partially at least, the Zone. It's the combination of roots, seeds, and a few dried berries. Kinda like a tea, actually!
Tasty. Adds this nice fruity, warmth. A zing. Goes GREAT with the coffee. And it really perks you up... if you are Limnal. If you AREN'T? It'll desolve your esophagus like swallowing straight acid. And that's not TOUCHING the... witch-y, more Seer specific bit of the blend.
That stuff is medicinal. You know, "calm the mind" and "mental clarity". That sorta thing. With a good ol helping of "don't blurt out everyone's secrets, you spacey bitch! For the love of God, those are our INSIDE THOUGHTS!". Which? Really helpful! Infinitely less likely to get decked. It's a family staple.
Poisonous, though.
They're fine cause they've basically developed an immunity to that part, but like? Wouldn't recommend. It's why he NEVER shares his drinks. Food? On occasion. If he PLANS it and knows not to add and interesting spices. But DRINKS? Never. Weston family brews are basically NEVER safe.
Which? Begs the Very Important Question ™!
Who's Coffee Is This?
Cause it SURE AS FUCK AINT HIS!
You never realize quite how fast you can go from "completely calm and kinda sleepy" to "bomb strapped to my chest, primal panic AWAKE" until it happens to you. His coffee was ON HIS DESK. People have passed by. He talked to them. Cups put down and picked up. Lazy early morning. He doesn't even register, really, as his chair crashes to the ground.
He's shouting.
People confused. They don't realize yet. His head whips around, looking for that distinct cover. Before it's too late. Before someone takes that fatal sip. He spots it. Bolting from his desk. Crashing through coworkers, over desks. Chaos and outrage. "It's 'just' coffee!" They cry.
Kent turns, confused. Pretending. Raises his (HIS! Oh god!) cup to his lips, unknowing. Wes SCREAMS a warning. But he doesn't listen. "It's 'just' coffee" They never listen. Curse of Cassandra. God's damn it. This is why his family fucking CONVERTED!
He TACKLES the man of steel.
RIPS his cup away from him, knows his eyes are frantic. How much have you had?! Spit it out! Wes voice ECHOES in the sudden silence. I'm a META, Kent! It could KILL YOU!
And oh, Oh NOW they get it. Or perhaps it is the burn in his mouth that finally registers. He rolls, spits oil slick nebulae that eat away the floor. There is blood mixed within it. It took mere moments. Superman stares, transfixed and horrified, as Wes shakes. He... he should probably get off of him.
He'll move in a moment.
When his legs no longer feel weak from terror.
The news room is in chaos. Lane kneeling by her husband, Perry trying to do damage control. He... he's probably gonna lose his job, isn't he? Wes wants to cry. Protection laws only go so far, after all. And warning his boss about his dietary needs means jack shit, after an incident like this. Beloved as Kent is. Not that anyone likely believed him.
They never do.
And now he's nearly killed Superman.

“Not Metropolis?”
“If I’m going to be dealing with superheroes, I don’t want to also deal with aliens.”
She was still keeping decent pace with him- perks of not actually being a person he guessed- but Gotham was getting on his nerves. Probably on purpose, the city didn’t want him here and She apparently was willing to annoy him to a second death over it.
“And New York?”
“Shit’s fucked.” Danny offered. “I don’t even want to know what’s going on there.”
“Gods. Above the Empire State Building.” She said, and he tripped on cracked sidewalk, barely slowing his run.
“See? You’re my best bet. I’m late for class and your school’s the opposite direction.”
“I don’t go to school.”
“Tell that to your ‘Gotham Academy for the wealthy or whatever the name is’ uniform and your schoolgirl ponytail.”
“I’m a representation of the people.” She shot him a look, eyes again glowing as the spirit tapped into the the energy around her. “Amity Park, go home.”
“Lady Gotham, respectfully. Nah.”

Enough Caffeine to Kill an Elephant
Listen. It was an accident. He didn't mean to! It just kinda happened.
So maybe he brought a drink with enough caffeine in it to kill an elephant within a few minutes, and maybe he forgot to put the sleeve on his cup so he could tell it apart from the others, but it's not his fault! He didn't think anyone else was going to have the exact same Yeti cup as him! It's not like he'd seen any of the others carry one before. Besides, he worked with superheros. They should be smart enough to check before drinking someone else's drink.
Danny had been summoned by the Justice League Dark a few years back in order to help with a world ending crisis and he just didn't leave. It's not like he could go anywhere anyway. His ghost half hadn't grown past fourteen and his human half had stopped visibly aging at eighteen. He'd had to leave town as Danny Fenton, but he'd stayed in Amity Park as Danny Phantom. When his parents died of old age, thank god, he'd closed down the portal, stuck around for a few more years, before traveling the world as Danny Fenton.
Anyway, he'd taken up residence in the House of Mysteries after the JLD had summoned him. Constantine, at first, had been wary, but he and the rest of the JLD had grown to accept him. He was an honorary member of the team.
At some point, just after Robin had become Red Robin, Danny had been introduced to the Justice League. He liked those guys, too, and worked with them sometimes. Though, he usually only went to bug them.
Red Robin had been very interested in the fact that his was fourteen and working with grown heros, like he was one to talk, but Danny hadn't explained anything other than saying that he had died and come back. The following conversation was an interesting one that lead to Danny knowing that Nightwing was the Batman he'd met and that Batman was lost somewhere. He'd confirmed that the man was not dead, but he hadn't offered to help look for him. He probably should have, in retrospect.
Back on topic! Everyone in the JLD knew not to touch Danny's drink. They'd all seen him make it before and had been horrified on varying degrees. It's not like it could kill him. He's already half dead! So long as he only drank this specific brew as Phantom, he'd be fine.
The Justice League, apparently, didn't get the memo. He blames Constantine because Zatanna and Raven can do no wrong. No, John, he's not biased.
The point is, Red Robin just had a sip of Danny's drink. The horror he now felt was akin to the fear he held when he'd told his parents he was Phantom. (An interaction that had gone very well, thank you very much.)
Danny knew the exact moment that the vigilante realized he grabbed the wrong drink. His eyes widened to an astonishing degree, and, if he'd been able to seen his eyes behind the mask, Danny knew that the man's pupils would've completely overtaken the irises. His hands started shaking, too. Oh, no. The man's already addicted to hellish amounts of coffee. This is only going to make it worse!
Quickly, and without drawing any attention, thank the Ancients, Danny rushed over. "You, um, you okay, man?" Obviously not, but he tends to talk when he's anxious and he was certainly anxious right now. He could've possibly just killed a man via poison!
"What the fuck is in this coffee?" Red Robin asked, going to take another sip.
Danny pulled the Yeti from his hand and gave him the proper one. "Enough caffeine to kill an elephant."
"Obviously not, seeing as I'm still alive."
"Yeah, I can't tell if that's a good thing or not."
"Excuse me?"
"I-I mean-! I didn't-! You know what I mean." Caffeine is poisonous in excess, and his drink was way beyond excess, but it's the only thing that works for him as a ghost! Superpowered metabolism and all that.
"Do I?" The laugh in his voice answered for him. He took a sip from his drink and frowned at it. "I don't think any coffee will ever be enough again."
"And that's my cue to get my drink very far away from you." Danny turned, fully intent on moving to the other side of the room. Besides, the meeting was going to start as soon as the Flash and Kid Flash arrived, which would be soon. Something about one of their Rouges getting out?
"What?" Red Robin asked, "Why?" If he was a little desperate to get another sip of that coffee, he'd rather not acknowledge it.
"Because you don't need anymore lethal coffee," he muttered, "The sip you took will already keep you awake for three days at least, and it probably jump started an addiction. Best to stop it now. Besides, I need to go have my crisis on how the hell you're still alive after even a sip of this stuff."
"Again, rude." The bird themed vigilante crossed his arms as best he could while holding his cup. "If it's so dangerous, why do you drink it?"
Danny took a deliberate sip as he locked eyes with the technically younger man. "I'm dead. I don't need to worry about my heart stopping or having a seizure."
"Excuses."
"No, it's not 'excuses'. I'm saving your life."
"You're a kid. If I can't have that coffee, then you shouldn't be having it."
"First, I'm older than you. Second, I already told you: I'm dead. This isn't going to hurt me. Third, you can't tell me what to do."
"There's no way you're older than me. You're like, ten."
"I'm thirty-eight!" He balked, "I only look fourteen because I died when I was fourteen. We've been over this."
Neither noticed the entire Justice League looking at them. The two they were waiting on had arrived a few minutes ago and everyone was ready to start the meeting, but they'd been distracted by the two's conversation. Was that true? Had Phantom really died so young? They'd all been made aware he was not living, but they didn't think he'd died so young! Though, that was probably the denial speaking.
The Justice League Dark had been fully aware of this and didn't really bat an eye. Though, someone should probably get this meeting started. A potentially world ending threat was the topic, and that was a pretty important thing to discuss.
Captain Marvel was the first to pull himself together, though that was only after Atlas and Zeus had mentally slapped him out of his stupur. "As, ah, riveting as this conversation is," he stepped between the two boys- er, boy and man? "we really need to start this meeting."
Batman did not clear his throat because he'd not lost his voice in the first place. "He's right. Everyone take your seats."

i told y’all. i told y’all i was gonna go crazy over this post made by @gummy-goat-galaxy
full disclosure i drew literally all of this before looking into the details of the AU so this is 70% my interpretation of his original post but i need to explain my thought process so. here’s the post explaining the details of the actual AU!!! and below is what my brain made up on the spot
ok so belos finds tiny child luz and is like “fuck everyone. this is mine now” and treats her like a goddamn princess. to him, she is a Gift From God to remind him to stay on his Righteous Path. an innocent little girl who is just so bubbly and always tries to see the good in everything, including him. she is a reminder of how Pure and Good humanity is, and seeing as though she’s the literal only human he’s had any contact with besides caleb in 400 fucking years, he is never letting the demon realm corrupt her like it did to him.
she’s basically his Lamb and he the Shepherd, and because he’s so desperate to keep her “““pure”““ he strictly keeps her within the castle and even then not all of the castle is available to her. he keeps her contact with witches to an absolute bare minimum.
he entrusts her protection specifically to hunter, despite the fact he’s only 2 years older. his reasoning is “caleb did a pretty good job raising me so this’ll be fine probably.” when belos himself cannot keep an eye on her, it’s hunter’s job. luz and hunter end up being raised in a sorta similar situation to catra & adora from she-ra but they are actually siblings and not just best friends.
(if u havent seen she-ra, basically its their abusive caretaker creating a golden child + scapegoat dynamic, where one kid can do absolutely no wrong (which doesnt mean they cant still be abused/manipulated!!) while the other kid is blamed for literally everything that goes wrong. the caretaker also regularly pits them against each other to encourage competition & keep the all power in the caretaker’s hands.)
similar to catra & adora, the whole competition thing doesnt really work. luz is just too damn kind and too damn good for hunter to ever resent her, and she’s all he really has. because hunter is the scapegoat, he grows wise to belos’s manipulations WAY sooner. it’s easier to figure out when you’re being mistreated when you literally watch ur guardian treating ur sibling so much better than how they treat u.
unfortunately, because luz cannot help but see the good in absolutely everyone and can be empathetic to a fault, she doesnt realize belos’s game until she ends up sneaking out of the castle. she actually really loves belos and is thankful for him taking her in for a long time. she calls him uncle like hunter, despite belos nudging her towards seeing him as a father bcus he sees her as a pseudo-daughter. (but luz remembers her dad, and has no desire to replace him with someone else no matter how much she cares for belos)
belos does love & adore luz, he would do almost anything to keep her happy and “innocent” and “pure”, but not to the extent that he could still end up redeemed. he still manipulates & subtly emotionally abuses her to keep her in line, but it’s only when she sneaks out and meets eda the owl lady does she start getting clued into this. and once luz learns what belos has done to hunter it’s all fucking over.
hunter loves luz. she is his sister and always will be. but while he’s stuck to belos because of his duties as golden guard, she sees how green the grass is on the other side and doesn’t even hesitate to hop over there. watching her slowly grow more and more distant while she keeps sneaking out to visit with her new friends (eda, king, willow, gus, amity, etc.) is one of the most painful things hunter has had to deal with.
he feels betrayed at first, as if luz is replacing him with other people who arent broken like he is, and when luz actually leaves for good- belos lies to the public and says she was kidnapped- hunter is the one who leads the hunt to find her and bring her back home safely. when they confront each other, luz tries to do her whole dramatic speech about how wrong belos is and how he’s been lying their whole lives, but hunter already knows. the only reason he stayed was for luz, but she couldnt even stay from him? it fuckin hurts man.
they end up on opposite sides for a minute. hunter gains no satisfaction from trying to ruin this new life she’s found for herself but goddamnit, he has a job to do. he cant just defect. and then he defects after watching belos try to kill luz because she’s let herself become corrupted by the witches.
thats about all my brain got for this so far. TL;DR basically just listen to the “first time in forever” and “mother knows best reprise” and “broken crown” by mumford & sons and thats pretty much the gist of it.

On god, I got my new glasses a day ago and it feel’s like I’ve finally harnessed the true power of my ADHD.
So anyways 2/?? Halloween prompt tw body horror and experimentation
Rotting corpse au lol.
So the nasty burger explosion happens except there’s no Dan. Vlad decides to attempt killing off Danny’s ghost side. Becoming enfatuated with the idea of “resurrecting” Danny, torturing him in the process. Because if he can resurrect someone who’s half dead there’s a chance he’d be able to resurrect Maddie too. Nobody can save Danny because everyone who know who he was and where he might be is either dead or torturing him.
Suddenly there’s no Fenton’s or phantom to protect amity park. Only red huntress who like Danny, is just a teenager. She can’t handle every single ghost that comes through the portal and she sure as hell can’t fight off a plasmius who’s lost his damn mind and given up any scrap of morals in his shriveled ballsack of a heart. Valerie and the rest of Amity park is forced to realize that Phantom is a hero and is needed just as much as Red huntress.
Vlad is becoming more and more deplorable, erratic and irrational. Desperate as his constant medical experiments on Danny turn out fruitless. Vlad finally decides he need to practice with a test subject that’s less dead then he and Danny were.
Jason isn’t happy when he wakes up in a strange lab. He’s even more pissed when he finds the greying old bastard who kidnapped him placed him in a cell with a Child’s carcass laying on cot.
The rage become pure disgusted and unadulterated terror when the corpse has a mental breakdown upon seeing him. The kid’s eyes were milky and lifeless, lips blue and skin almost grey and peeling. You could see his veins beneath paper like skin and his muscles and joints were deteriorating where they were used the most. The kid no longer had eyelids and maggots were festering in the child’s skin.
Jason stared, bile rising up his throat. “Do you still feel pain?” Jason prayed for the answer to be no but the kid just nodded, gesturing at Jason’s emptied gun holster before pointing at his own skull and pretending to shoot himself.
They needed to get out of here fucking asap.

Danny learns bruce is his bio dad when wayne visits fentonworks. That night batman shows up to meet him and immediately shares his identity as bruce. Apparently b had danny pegged as a secret vigilante the moment he laid eyes on him, and identified him as phantom halfway through his introductions. Danny's smart enough to realize he just won the fucking superhero allegiance lottery. He's gonna milk this so hard, he's gonna THRIVE. Just point bats at all of his enemies and watch the world burn.
Oh man I’ve seen many variations of Danny’s reaction to being Bruce’s bio kid but it’s never been something like this.
Tumblr media
Danny not going “yeah this is my town” and instead going “thank gOD now I can get some REST! Hey Damian, can you fight this guy who wants to take my skin so I can study?”
Batman goes and instantly creates dozens of contingency plans for all of the ghosts. Is a ghost harming Danny? Cool they’re getting captured in a Even Better ghost thermos that allows the ghost to still communicate even when captured and Batman terrifies them into not returning to Amity.
Both Batman and Danny fully accepting the situation, (there’s still some holy fuck I have another dad/son crisis but that doesn’t linger for too long).
Batman so glad that he has a son that’ll accept his fucking help whenever he’s asked and he doesn’t have to bully his kid into needing assistance.
Danny is so happy because he has a mentor figure that he knows is fully capable as a vigilante and doesn’t have to worry about them dying in a fight with his rogues gallery.
There’s so much angst with the debacle of “wait what the fuck I got another kid.” Sure, it’s a fun thing to write, but in doing this you can write about other conflicts:
Bruce or Danny patching the other up after a fight and chiding them for not blocking themselves more.
Bruce or Danny teaching the other how their tech works. One being the dozens of Bat gadgets, the other being Fenton gadgets. Could be a fun bonding moment talking about either technical stuff, Bruce being fucking baffled that Danny’s parents seem have their machines made out of mostly duct tape and prayer, discussions about how ectoplasm is used as a power source, or things of the sort! Don’t make Danny hide his tech! He goes “fuckin take these blueprints and help me make something that’s 100% effective” to the Batfam.
Bruce making Danny a new suit for better protection and Danny making Bruce a new suit so he can punch ghosts and be brought into the GZ.
Bringing the Batfam into the GZ to meet Frostbite, Fright Knight, or Clockwork! Have the strange father figure meet the other strange father figure and have them bond about worrying over this strange little halfa boy.
Worrying about if Jazz will accept being adopted too and Jazz going “it’s about time” and accepting far easier than they expected.
Jazz walking into the Batcave, sees Jason’s Robin suit on display, and goes “yeah that’s gonna have to be moved. Oh and Bruce, you’re meeting me in the third floor grand office closest to the stairs and we’re having a therapy session.”
Since Danny isn’t hiding from his family or anything, (well maybe but these guys are oblivious as hell. Let them just strangely accept that their kids have caught the attention of another billionaire and that they’re glad that Danny seems happier ever since he first met Mr. Wayne.) so he can have Tucker and Sam over to Wayne Manor. He can stay the night at Wayne Manor (Bruce tells them he uses a private helecopter, Danny just ghost zone portals himself over) and hang out with his new friends.
Anon you are fucking brilliant and I love this oh so much. This is a “Danny is Wayne’s Bio-kid” concept that NEEDS to be tapped into.

I rewatched Owl House.
First season is so average, like they make it by a notebook
Lilith get off the hook too easily
Fucking body swap plot is annoying in anything but Gravity Falls and Adventure Time
Willow and Amity reconciliation is too quick
Titan Trappers are exist only to exist
Who the fuck put this magic door in Titan’s skull and then put Collector Dish there
How did witches have information to tell legends about the Collector?
When Amity and Hunter are cut off from they Evil Pumping Stations they are lost all personality
Belos is boring as fuck. His only character trait is that he is evil, which is laughable for the show that tell us people are complex. That’s why he only will be referred as Evil Dude
Odalia is so stupidly evil that it’s impossible to take seriously
Lumity is not developed further than “Girlfriends” and the only reason why Lunter could be better is because it’s just easier to develop
Luz and Evil Dude’s parallel starts and ends with the fact that they are humans
Evil Dude is an idiot
Collector could be named Plot Device
Raine is very meh. They only personality is that they are hero
Evil Dude is said to be the strongest witch ever, but he almost looses to five teenagers
What was the point of standing against coven system if in the end we have a squad from a fucking RPG game. Character form plants, character for illusions, character for abominations, character for teleportation
Evil Dude have as much super powers as the plot need
Characters have zero reaction of learning they arch enemy story
Evil Dude looses all small glimpses of being an actual character and become villain of the week
Absence of chemistry between Hunter and Willow can cause physical pain
For the Future is one of the most useless things created by a human being
Caleb Wittebane appears for reasons and never affects anything, so he will referred as Fan-service Background
Collector is an insult to God
I hate Collector
“One character hears half of what other character says and is offended by it, only for the audience learn that other character didn’t actually mean what first character thought they mean” plot line is a violation of Geneva Conventions
Evil Dude spending 98% percent of his screen time in finale as giant roaring green blob is a final shot from a shotgun in a head of his characterisation
Luz is Chosen One now. Message of the show is annihilated by Atomic Bomb
Titan is an asshole who assaulted a child because there was no one else to assault
There two villains. One looks like a child, have sparkles in his eyes, and flies and a star with happy face. Second is goopy skinny, rots in real time, have eyes in places that supposed to be without eyes, and he shrieks like an Alien. Who of the two is going to be redeemed?
The moment Evil Dude is dead Boiling Isles is an utopia. If you take this seriously, I don’t feel sad for you, I will laugh at you
Hunter becomes Caleb 2.0, and that’s why you dig up in the fact that you are a clone, my boy. You never know if your actions are actually yours
Evil Dude’s death better than Toffee’s only because this time main antagonist dies by the end of the series
The fact that Owl House doesn’t redeem it’s main antagonist like Steven Universe or have a better ending than SVTFOE is not an argument
Fuck Collector
I could write what I liked but it would be boring

Danny: Wow this coffee is so good I hope nothing happens to it…
Jason, spilling Danny’s coffee all over his shirt: Oh no, I think you need to take that off. Right now ;)
Tim: Can you guys fucking STOP and flirt like NORMAL PEOPLE?
Bernard, secretly filming: No, don’t listen to him, keep going.
-
Danny, sleep deprived and in desperate need of caffeine: *catches a glimpse of Jason*
Danny, blinking: God?
Jason, absolutely smitten: Not quite, sweetie :’)
Danny: Oh, good, I thought I died again for a second
Jason: HUH?
-
Danny: Oh I think that barista gave me her number by accident lol it’s clearly meant for you
Jason, taking off his shirt: He’s so fucking stupid I must have him
-
Danny: lol yeah Amity is Super Haunted
Tim, full conspiracy board mode: Why the fuck have I never heard of Amity before?
-
Danny: Okay time to lay low and be completely normal. No Phantom, no problem :)
Also Danny the second Amity is brought up, no self control in sight and ready to spill everything: So ghosts are actually real and there’s this one really cool one named Phantom who’s basically my best friend —
-
Danny, telling a story and casually mentioning ghosts like it’s nothing bc he’s used to no one in Amity Park batting an eye at the paranormal: — and then Skulker came around and threatened to ‘mount my pelt’, which after the hundredth time hearing is just kind of like, ‘yeah, whatever dude we get it, can I just buy my ice cream now?’ like he’s a serious vibe killer y’know but his girlfriend Ember is pretty cool when she’s not mind controlling people with her music an—
Any Gothamite he speaks to thinking he’s insane: Yo, what the fuck?
Danny, confused: What? You’ve never seen a ghost? Weird :/
-
Danny, resigned to collecting strays: Whatchya got there, Ellie?
Ellie, holding a smoothie and two feral kittens: Uh, a smoothie.
-
Jason: Get me a notepad.
Tim: Are you going to just draw a dick like last time?
Jason: … No.
Tim: You hesitated.

Alright so the TOH brainrot has come back in full force after the finale came out so now i too am making one of them lists of things that i liked/stuck out to me. Also sorry if this ends up just being a bunch of incoherent nonsense
HOLY SHIT TITAN!LUZ. the design is so cool what more can i say. Furthermore,
HOLY FUCK LUZ DIED????? i was so not expecting that and good lord was it heartbreaking. Eda and King's reaction to Luz's death were also heartbreaking, and so was the Collector finally realizing what death really is. And oh my god puppet!Camila crying as the balls of light pass by her, showing us that she has had the realization that her daughter died. After the grief and trauma of losing Manny, Camila and Luz had a heart to heart which made their bond stronger than ever, only for Camila to lose Luz aswell.
LUZ SAID THE THING! NOW EAT THIS SUCKAAAAAA!!!!!
THE BOILING ISLES IS BIGENDER BABY! i honestly love the titan so much now. His bad girl coven t-shirt and glyph pants and dad-bod are absolutely everything. (Also what's with the little hooty worm sticking out of her eye socket??)
The goddamn bread pun 😭 that warms my heart so much
The raeda in this episode was IMMACULATE. I was really hoping for a kiss but i'm still happy with what WAD gave us. The loving stares, Raine's absolute joy when Eda and Titan!Luz came to their rescue in the throne room, the hugs and nuzzles, the cuddling in their new nest, etc. They seem so relaxed and happy at the end. The world has been saved and now they can finally live their lives together and rekindle their relationship. Oh and how could i forget the EARRING SWAP!! they're wearing eachother's earrings!!! I've seen quite a few ppl interpreting the exchanging of earrings/jewelry as a marriage custom in the demon realm, implying that Eda and Raine are married in the timeskip. I never cared much for the idea of raeda getting married but you know what? I like this headcanon.
Raine whistling raine's rhapsody/eda's reqiuem.
Hunter is a palisman carver! And he has a new palisman! Apparently the little blue jay's name is Waffles and that's just adorable.
Raine also has a palisman now and it's a little fox! I wonder what their name is though.
The entire hexsquad has matching Flapjack tattoos! Also Flapjack's grave, that gave me so many feels. But im so happy to see how Hunter has healed!
Harpy Lilith!
Eda is the principal of a school now?
Eda's hook arm! Also just everyone's new outfits/appearances in general. I love Raine's fully white hair and their scars and their outfit just oozes gender. I love Luz's outfit and punk eyeliner. I love Amity's hairstyle. I love how Lilith kept her short ginger hairstyle. I love Gus's new hair and his little beard. I love Willow's shorter hair and sporty outfit. Mattholomule has a real mustache now!
Fuck yeah they figured out how to remove sigils so now the BI residents can do magic like the Titan really intended!
Aladarius canon??
Everyone reuniting with their dads. Amity running to Alador whilst Odalia just stands at the side with an annoyed face. Fucking priceless. Willow's dads kissed on screen! Hunter thinking no one would be there for him only for Darius and Eberwolf to show up and accept him into their family. my heart 😭❤️
Eda and Camila finally got to meet!
Luz reuniting with King and Eda made me sob so unbelievably hard.
Luz and Vee graduated together!
Luz goes to college in the demon realm!
I thought she was giving all her Azura stuff away at first but i think she's actually bringing it all with her to college.
I love everything about Luz's quinceañera (or should i say KING-ceañera)
I love the very last part where every character we've come to know and love over these 3 wonderful years (except Odalia lmfao) say "Byeee!" to the audience. What a perfect way to end this series.
I think that's it lol i have so many thoughts

Oh... my god? Ghost Reporters.
Imagine it. Their office is in the Zone. They literally FEED of hunting for The Next Big Scoop! And Revealing The Truth! Every honest reporter that got silenced for getting a little too close to the facts. The bloody, beating, heart of societies underbelly.
Every Lois Lane that had no Kryptonian to stop some rich and powerful jackals putting them in the ground.
Well Death sure didn't stop THEM! They STILL want answers! But now they have co-wokers. Oh~ and SUPERPOWERS! And best part?
The newly appointed KING is going too and from the living world. That must mean it's okay now, RIGHT? Your majesty? You're not a RAGING HYPOCRITE, aaaaare you? :) 🎤
And... look. Danny knows full well what these piranhas are up too. He's not stupid. But Madeline Fenton raised a lot of things. Fool? Not one of um. That a LOT of reporters with sharp, sharp teeth and bloodlust in their eyes. He wants to half-live.
He compromises. Illusion of control and all that. Yeah, yeah, they all tooootally respect his authority etc. Give them Them Scoop! He, wisely, gets the fuck out of the way. Whoosh! Off they go!
Thats.... probably gonna be a problem. *siiiiiips his morning coffee* But it's not HIS problem. Not right now.
And? Suddenly all these politicians and business leaders are getting fucking AMBUSHED. Oh? You thought you'd get soft ball "aren't I a man of the people. Buy oil!" Bullshit questions? HA! Where were you on June 27th, 1978, at-
And "according to YOUR words, exact quote as follows-"
Just? They BEAT the leader with the STICK. "Oh but you'll lose access". They'd love to see HOW! They can go through WALLS! Answer the question, coward. "Your gonna make powerful enemies!" Oh nooooo, what are they gonna DO?
Shoot us TWICE?
Hey Mr. Family Values! How's the three mistresses your wife doesn't know about?? "No comment"? That's fine. We already have THEIRS. >:D Good luck with your upcoming election!
And like? As newspapers are shutting down and turning clickbait all across the country? This ONE(1) tiny, middle of nowhere town? Somehow has a horrid, horrid, ARMY of Satan's own Reporters. All apparently willing to die for the News. Throwing themselves at dictators and Supervillians alike.
"We see no God here but the Truth" is literally their papers MOTTO.
The damn thing is basicly a BRICK. You get a paperback of news. Entire planet AND THEN SOME. How?! How are they reporting, IN DETAIL, on the break down of talks between two planets 16 galaxies over? Hal says it's accurate. But what Earth paper would even HAVE that information?
And?? The whole town treats this as normal? There are human children, complaining about the weight of papers, because it makes their paper routes a pain in the ass. Soccer moms discussing alien celebrity drama. Farmers muttering over foreign unrest and how it will impact their corn harvest.
Fucking Lex Luthor, clearly deciding to roll with it, coming to sign himself up for a paper. Gaining a new life long Nemesis upon meeting Vladimir Master, whom he decides is both hot and unbearable. Someone is heard shouting "oh god, there's TWO OF THEM!"
And?? Look. Clark isn't MAD. Or JEALOUS. Nor is he in a secret Reporting War with Jerry from the Amity Chronicle. Because that would be petty and childish. He's just SAYING, maybe they should check the place out!
Maybe Jerry is a DICK and deserves it, is all. (Lois stop laughing.)

Here's a super rough draft of some angst.
It's more of an outline than a ficlet. I just needed to get it out of my head because it won't let me sleep. Kek
Clone Danny Au.
Danny is a clone of Jazz.
Jazz and Jason get a frantic phone call from Danny. Jazz can hear the fear in his voice, she rushes to Amity Park with Jason.
Jack and Maddie had discovered his ghost half. Instead of strapping him down to a table, they do something equally as worse, they disown him and kick him out of Fenton Works.
"Jazz are you sure my birth certificate is in here, all I see is old paperwork. Danny said to his sister sitting next to him on the floor of his former parent's closet.
"I'm sure it's in here. Ah, look here it is." Jazz says. Picking up an envelope with Danny's name on it. She opens it and pulls out an old file. "Huh, I wonder what this is." She opens it and starts reading the contents of the file. Her eyes go wide and her mouth hangs open. "Oh my God! What the fuck is this!" Jazz suddenly yells in shock.
"What! Jazz what is it? Jazz? JAZZ!" Danny says out loud.
Jazz is too shocked to reply to him. She just hands him the file with a hand covering her mouth. Danny takes it and reads the file. He re-reads it again and again still not believing what is written down on the old computer printout.
"This can't be real? It can't be, how, why, why would they do something like this?" Danny asks not believing what he had just read.
Jazz numbly replies that she found his birth certificate handing it to him and taking back the file. She gets up off the floor and starts to head out of the room and down the stairs to the living room where Jack and Maddie are waiting.
"Hey Jazz wait what are you doing? Jazz!" Danny nervously asks her. She ignores him continuing her way to the living room with fury in her steps.
Maddie eyes the familiar-looking file in Jazz's hand. "Jack I thought you got rid of that." She harshly asked her husband. Jack doesn't bother to respond to her.
Jazz comes to a stop in front of them, with her standing protectively in front of Danny
"What the fuck is this?" Jazz asks holding up the file for the two of them to see. "This says that you cloned me? That Danny your son my little brother, is my clone?"
"That thing hiding behind you is not my son!" Maddie answers Jazz with venom in her voice.
Jazz felt her core flair up with rage to protect Danny, to protect her little brother, her everything, her baby, and now her son.
"You know what Danny was never your son!" "You and Jack were never his parents." "All you two ever cared about was that stupid fucking portal!" Jazz yelled back with equal amounts of venom in her voice.
"I always felt more of a mother to Danny than a sister! and now I know why! Because I practically am! He's practically my son!
I raised him! I clothed and fed him!" I was the one to take him to his first day of school and all of the million other things that you two never did!" Jazz huffed out in rage.
Danny was holding on to the back of Jazz's sweater to keep himself from turning invisible from all the fear, rage, and anger he could feel in the air.
Jazz can feel her fangs and claws coming out, and the tips of her ears starting to get pointy. She can taste the fear rolling off of Danny in waves. She's struggling to not transform into her ghost half and end the threat in front of them.
"Your son" Maddie laughs "if you want that thing as your son then we have no children."
Jazz lets out a growl. "Fine" She hisses. "We're leaving."
Jazz pulls Danny to the front door where his belongings are packed up. They gather the bags and open the door to Jason with his hand on the holster in his jacket. His eyes flashed a Lazarus pit green from having heard the conversation inside. He snaps out of it seeing Jazz and Danny. He turns around and goes to open the trunk of the rental car.
After putting the bags in the trunk Jazz and Danny climb into the back seat with Jason taking the driver seat. They drive off leaving Amity Park behind them.
Jazz pulls Danny into a tight hug growling and whispering assurances that he is safe and protected into his hair. Finally feeling safe Danny lets himself break down. Sobbing into Jazz's chest that he didn't mean to break up their family and ruin her and Jason's vacation.
"Danny, Danny sweetheart you didn’t ruin anything. None of this is your fault. Not one thing. Shhhh. Shhhh everything will be okay do you hear me, baby? Shhhhh." Jazz says letting out loud purrs from her core.
Danny lets out pained whimpers and Jason can feel his heartbreak at the sound.
After a few hours of driving and Danny falling asleep with his head in Jazz's lap, they pull over to decompress.
"So do you want to talk about what happened back there?" Jason asks Jazz looking at her in the rearview mirror.
Jazz lets out a tired sigh. "Jack and Maddie cloned me, Jason. "My Little brother is my clone and I don't know what to think or what to do about it right now." Jazz answered him while carding her hand through Danny's hair. She was on the edge of exhaustion.
"You should get some rest Jazz, we'll figure this out when we get back to Gotham. Jason replied. Jazz yawns and closes her eyes and falls asleep.

Why TOH really doesn't want a theme of discrimination.
Every demon in the show is depicted as evil, dumb or as good... because they don't want to be a part of demon culture.
That's the thesis and it's not an over exaggeration. In the main cast, the only demon of the DEMON REALM is Hooty who is treated as slow, less intelligent than the other members of the cast, and as a joke by the writers as he never elevates himself above being simply comic relief. Association with him seems to be the earliest sign that Lilith is meant to be seen as a joke and her relationship with Hooty ostracizes her from the rest of the cast. Makes her appear weird because she's the only one who can like the bird tube.
Otherwise, they're all antagonists. Most of them are just one note villains for that matter. In S1, every demon with a real speaking role is a villain. The monster hunters, Warden Wrath, Tibbles, the basilisk, the publisher for King and even Boscha if her third eye denotes demonic heritage. Anyone who we see at least as neutral are pretty much just background characters. The ones from the prison in the first episode are really the only ones who get a moment of heroism.
Now you might say: What about Bat Queen? She's the richest person on the Isles and she... Isn't a demon. She's a palisman. Made by, or at least for, a god with the insinuation they give. Bare minimum: Not for any demon known to the Isles. So she doesn't count.
There ARE witch antagonists in S1 thankfully. They're Matt, who goes on to obviously be a good person at heart, Amity who... Duh and Lilith who is also redeemed. None of this happens to any of the demons though even if ostensibly this is their world since the entire dimension is named after demons.
Which, as a note, also is part of why saying TOH is anti-colonial means ignoring an entire race.
Even KING, who should have been the demon representative in the main cast, was then retconned not to be one. Worse yet, only once that retcon began did the show start treating him with any real respect. As a demon... He was just a dumb comic relief character as far as the show is concerned.
So when we FINALLY get a reoccurring demon... It's Kikimora. That should be all I need to say there.
Now the final argument: Vee. Vee is a good person, right? She's not a villain or antagonist, just a good person. And you would be right. The framing on Vee is the problem. As the ONE genuinely just good demon, we have to evaluate how she is different. She is different... Because she rejected the Demon Realm. Her parallels with Luz are even supposed to make it clear that she is better at being a human THAN LUZ. Which has the awful implication, if we want to say TOH has anti-discrimination theme, that the only good demon, is a domesticated demon. One who wants to be a human.
That's. Fucking. Awful.
And just to cover my bases: Yes, discrimination is more than a race thing but the concept of discrimination on race is actually pretty much the only one ever brought up. The fact that no one gives a shit about ethnicity or sexuality or gender actually hurts the theme because you have to project those things onto the show instead. And any allegory to discrimination is explicitly done through races. Fantasy races but that still frames it as a racial issue so its theme on anti-discrimination is going to struggle to branch out beyond racial lines because it effectively ignores that any other form of discrimination might even EXIST.
And for the finale!... I don't think any of this is on purpose by the writers. Yes, they bring discrimination into the show but just like how real life conflicts will often ignore the complexities of all the groups present, such as us referring to all Native Americans as one whole group rather than their separate tribes and histories, the show effectively forgets about the demons. They're just there for flavor because if literally all of the characters of the demon realm were elves, it wouldn't feel like it fits the name at all. It adds spice to a scene and adventure if you have demons of all sorts and sizes.
But the witches are the conventionally attractive characters who are easy to latch onto and so they are the main cast. Everything that looks other becomes a target for villainy because of that juxtaposition. Unfortunately, none of this helps any sort theme of inclusivity. That we are supposed to look past the outer shell and see the person within, regardless, race, gender, sexuality, etc. like that.
Instead, TOH tells a very basic fantasy story and in doing so, falls into the fact that a lot of classic fantasy was written by racist white dudes and the fact that the term demon is charged due to LOTS of religions that paint them out as wholly evil. Without actually interrogating these concepts, it can be easy to fall into them.
So yeah, I think this is a theme people need to stop trying to apply to TOH.

Fearless Magazine
Tumblr media
Part 1 , Part 2 , Part 3
Prompt:
A mysterious stranger leaves an item of the main character’s front door with a note attached saying “For a rainy day”
***
“If you like him just go and tell him,” Lynn says to me curtly
“And what if he doesn’t like me and is just trying to use me?” I say exasperated.
Lynn looks up from her lunch to face me, “He kissed you, what more do you need? A proposal?”
I sigh and rest my head on my hand, “We both know his reputation.”
Eric was well known for a loner but when he did entertain the presence of a woman it was always a hit and quit.
“Yeah, he’s a whore,” Lynn spits out the statement as if she was claiming that water is wet. “However, he did more with you than he’s done with any other girl.”
“What’s that?”
“Talked to you and acknowledged your presence afterwards,” She says before stuffing her face with food. “He’s probably been laying awake at night thinking about his beautiful Y/n,” Lynn says mockingly, she hugs the air and makes kissy noises. I ball up a napkin and throw it at her while she laughs.
“He made his move, your turn.”
“Ugh! Why is this so complicated?” I ask myself while rubbing my forehead with my fingers.
“I still can’t believe big bad Eric is a softie for you!”
“Whatever! I’m going back to work!”
***
All day Eric and I caught eachother’s eye. At one point he even winked at me.
I don’t wanna be another girl you charm and then throw off to the side.
I sit on my bed against the wall. My thoughts going back to the night he kissed me, the way his hands felt on me, his soft lips on mine.
The dating cultures of Amity and Dauntless were complete opposites. Dauntless moved too fast. You meet someone and by the first date you are together, left to figure things out as you go.
In Amity, you begin by leaving a gift of the person’s doorstep and if theyre interested, they’ll leave on on yours. Each gift comes with a note telling them about yourself and your favorite things, in hopes that you have some in common. From there you’ll meet in person and go for a walk or sit down and get to know each other.
Maybe I should give him a gift.
Eric’s Pov
I sit on my couch with my useless leg propped up by a pillow flipping through a book I’ve read a thousand times. *Knock* *Knock*
Who the fuck is that?
I grab my crutch off the coffee table and rock myself forward in a huff. I frown to myself thinking about all the times I took having two working legs for granted.
I look through the peephole.
Oh my fucking god not this again.
I open the door and come face to face with the last person I wanted to see: the faction gossip.
“Hello, Samantha. What can I do for you?” I try my best to be nice to an elder but pieces of my dislike for her seep through.
“What’s this someone left on your doorstep?” She pries.
“I don’t know, I didn’t know it was there.”
She looks at me suspiciously pursing her lips, the deep wrinkles on her face showing contempt.
“You better not be fooling around with anymore girls,” She warns me before handing me the box that she no doubt opened before knocking on my door.
“I never was,” I defend myself. The glare she shoots my way almost makes mine look like child’s play. “Ma’am,” I add quickly hoping she’d put the glare away.
“Boy, don’t lie to me. I’ve seen the girls coming in and out of your room.” She puts her finger on my chest, poking me to emphasis her words. “There was that one with the funny accent and then a blonde one that was here the other day.”
“First off, the one with the accent was my ex girlfriend of two years, who hasn’t been here in months. And second, I didn’t have a blonde woman in my room recently.”
“Of course you did! She was the weird looking one with the short hair.” She argues.
“FOUR!?” I blurt out coming to the realization.
“Young man don’t you raise your voice at me!”
“Yes, ma’am, I didn’t mean to. Can I please go inside, I need to take my medication.” I lie while motioning to my cast, desperately trying to get away from her.
She waves her hand in a “go away” motion before turning away from my door.
I shut the door almost leaning against it with relief. I crutch my way back to my spot on the couch, sitting with the box on my lap. I examine the unexpected gift, I almost chortle at the polka-dot box stuck to the top as I open it. Inside lies a container with hot chocolate written across in red with a little santa in a sleigh and a note: “For a rainy day 🙂” written in cursive.
I flip the note looking for a sender but find nothing. I can only assume it’s from Y/n, trying to court me with her Amity-ness.
My grin stifles as I remember what Elder Samantha said, “You better not be fooling around with anymore girls!”
Is that what she’s been telling the faction? That I’m hopping bed to bed!?
My heart begins to feel heavy at the thought of Y/n hearing the rumors. I can only wonder what she’ll think of me when she does hear. As fierce as she is, deep down she’s still shy and delicate. She hasn’t been entirely conditioned to dauntless and the viciousness of the elders that live to complain about the changes in the faction, even improvements from when they were young.
What if she already knows?
Y/n’s Pov
“I forgot to put my name on it!”
Lynn hits her forehead with her hand.
“Who else could it have been from?!” She looks at me flabbergasted. “I don’t understand these dating rituals. In Candor you just go up to someone and tell them ‘I like you’. None of these theatrics,” She says disgruntled.
I frown at her, “I’d hate to get broken up by a Candor. They’d probably sit there and tell you every little thing that’s wrong with you until shrink,” I cross my arms.
“That’s the good part! It helps you improve as a person.”
We go silent upon hearing Eric’s crutch echo down the hallway. He comes through the door, usually he’d at least glance in my direction but today he looked at the ground when he passed me.
“Uh oh,” Lynn whispers before taking a sip of her latte. “Maybe he’s allergic to chocolate and thought you were trying to kill him.”
I shoot her a sharp look.
***
That day I noticed Eric was more to himself than usual. He didn’t stay late with me as he had the last two days. I wanted to ask him if he was alright but didn’t want to step out of bounds.
Maybe he changed his mind. Maybe he found another girl.
I fuss to myself. It was a friday night and I was cooped up in my bedroom ignoring Lynn’s texts telling me to come out.
Maybe I should go out and get my mind off him.

how disarming you can be
word count: 3921
see end of post for content warnings
Danny woke up to a familiar tingle in his throat.
Then came the beeping.
Something was in his wrist and oh—fuck. Something was on his face. He was strapped down and this was it. The GIW had finally caught him. It was game over.
When he opened his eyes he caught sight of a thin white sheet wrapped around his body and wires and tubes and speckled gray ceiling tiles. When he moved his arm, the IV tube moved with it and before he knew it there were warm hands on his arm and Danny flinched.
Danny tried making out the words spoken to him, but everything sounded like he was underwater.
“—up his drugs a bit more. He’s coming to soon.”
In his peripheral vision, two white-clad agents in shades stood by the door with matching grins.
And the world went dark.
*
The next time he woke, there was a woman in front of him wearing scrubs. He couldn’t make out the words but there was a badge clipped to her chest with her face on it and the logo for West Amity Hospital—he remembered that much from after the accident at least. In the photo, her eyes were kind. They were a deep chestnut color and if Danny focused enough they could almost make the incessant tug on his wrist and nose disappear.
“—said, can you hear me, Danny?”
Oh, right. Danny was his name.
He nodded.
“Good. Now, can you tell me what year it is, Danny?”
Why wouldn’t she know?
But she seemed so sincere that Danny couldn’t not help her, so he told her the answer.
“And the current president?”
He told her the president.
She reached somewhere to her left and grabbed a clipboard. And jotted something down. Because this was a hospital, or it seemed from the looks of it. What happened to him that left him in the hospital—?
Oh God. He was a ghost. He couldn’t be here.
They’d know from his vitals alone that there was something wrong with him and then they’d call the government on him—and worse they’d tell his parents he was a ghost and so then he wouldn’t even be able to go home or back to his life and—
“Danny. Danny, are you with me? Your heart rate just went up by a lot.”
The world seemed to swing from a pendulum, and Danny had to pat the bed to make sure that he actually hadn’t floated off of it. He dug his nails into the thin, hospital bed and scrunched his eyes shut so that the world would stop moving but it didn’t help because he could still feel the swaying movement, tying knots in his stomach, and oh God why wouldn’t it stop.
“—having what looks like a panic attack. Danny, I need you to focus on the sound of my voice. Can you do that for me?”
“Stay—stay away from me!”
He couldn’t have them find out. If they didn’t already know. He was fucked. He needed to find a way to leave, to turn into Phantom. But he couldn’t have them find out about his ghost powers, so as long as he was monitored he was screwed. Where were Sam and Tucker and Jazz? They’d planned contingencies to make sure Danny never ended up in a hospital. How had he even gotten here in the first place?
The last thing he remembered was—
Ember.
She’d been at the mall, releasing her new demo. It’d been a quick fight all things considered, maybe she was still weak from the last time they’d clashed or maybe he’d just gotten the jump on her, but it took under fifteen minutes for him to wrap up the fight. All in all, not a personal best for Ember but close to it. He’d just gotten the cap on the thermos secured when the GIW arrived guns blazing.
Danny made a run for it. They chased him to the outskirts of town and Danny was so close to just jumping into a ditch, turning human, and hoping for the best. He couldn’t let them catch him, no matter what. And then they got a lucky hit. There was a glowing green spear jutting out of his shoulder and he had just enough time to register that fact before his flight gave out and he plummeted to the ground. Hard. It’s been a while since he’s hit the pavement that hard, but usually he’s able to bounce back given enough time to recuperate.
They were waiting for him on the ground. White boots surrounded him.
The last thing he remembered was the mechanic whir of a thermos and then squeezing tight darkness.
It just didn’t make sense how he ended up here.
The woman was still talking. Trying to assure him to calm his breathing, doing some kind of counting exercise that sounded like one of those meditation things Jazz liked to rattle off. Danny couldn’t afford to be off his guard.
“How did—how did I get here?” he ground out.
The woman paused.
“How much do you remember?”
“Answer my question first.”
“A lot has happened while you’ve been out, Danny. I’m not sure which parts you are aware of or not.”
“Fine. I remember being at school. Then I can’t remember anything after that.”
“School?” She paused, as if deciding how to phrase something. She gave a nod. “You were found injured on the shoulder of the road near the edge of town. You’ve been unconscious for several days.”
“That’s not right.”
Because the GIW had him. They’d put him in a thermos. Then they just let him go?
“You were found by a truck driver passing through the area. When we contacted your friends, they said they weren’t sure why you were out there.”
“You’ve talked to Sam and Tucker?”
She smiled. “Yes. Sam and Tucker. And your family, too.”
“Where are they?”
“Well, I imagine they’re at home. You’ve been out for several days, but they’ll be here eventually. Though, there is the matter of…”
“Matter of what?” he asked.
“I think it’s best that the doctor tells you,” she explained. “Now, is there anything I can get for you, Danny? Anything at all?”
“You could start by discharging me?”
She chuckled. “Not till you have a clean bill of health. Now, I have to go for a bit but I promise I’ll be back.” She tapped the remote built into his hospital bed. “Feel free to watch whatever you want in the meantime.”
In a matter of seconds, she strutted out. Left alone with the soft hum of the machines.
If he was going to escape anytime, it would be now.
He leaned forward, but as he moved there was a sharp pang of pain in his upper left shoulder. He pulled down his hospital gown and found that his shoulder had been bandaged thoroughly. As he shifted his weight, there was also a sharpness at the back of his neck that made black spots dance at the edge of his vision. Nausea pooled in his stomach and Danny slumped back against his hospital bed.
He wasn’t going anywhere.
Shit.
*
Danny didn’t know why his ghost powers weren’t kicking in to heal him, but since the doctors obviously hadn’t caught on, he wasn’t going to look a gift horse in the mouth. His vitals were also less fucked-up-looking than he expected. He’d checked his vitals in human form with Sam and Tucker several times, all of which were within impossible ranges for human beings (a resting heart rate of thirty beats per minute and normally hypothermic) but none of that was directly reflected in Danny’s vitals.
From what he could figure, the weapon that the GIW had hit him with must’ve done something to his core which explained why he wasn’t healing like he normally would. It rendered him visibly human. As long as it didn’t tip off the doctors, Danny didn’t really care about what it did. Though, there was the eventual issue of potentially permanent damage to his core, but he’d deal with that once he wasn’t being monitored by nosy doctors twenty-four-seven.
Now that he was awake, the doctors informed him that for some reason or another, some long string of word soup that Danny’s drugged brain couldn’t follow, they thought it best that neither his family nor friends would be allowed to visit him because of something with the stress levels of his injuries yada yada yada. Danny told them that sounded illegal. They asked him what law said that, and reminded him that he was still a minor. So, Danny shut up.
At least it spared him from Jazz’s flavor of overbearingness.
Though, admittedly he did miss his friends. He could only watch so much cable TV. The hospital’s channels sucked ass, hard. It was all shitty reality TV shows, movies from the ‘80s, and Cheers reruns. They didn’t even get the local news stations, so Danny couldn’t really keep up with the town at all. Unfortunately, the hospital said his phone had been smashed whenever he was found (made since, from the height of that fall—not his first broken phone nor his last) so his only way of knowing what was going on in the world was through his TV and the hospital staff and the hospital staff wasn’t budging.
The only person on staff that Danny liked was Carmen, the nurse from when he first woke up. The doctors kind of just brushed him off as a stupid mouthy kid, but she actually took the time to have a conversation with him.
“You know, your parents are good people,” she told him. “Must be cool with all their ghost-hunting gadgets and stuff. Or I bet you get tired of it after a while. Loses its charm when you’re around their stuff all the time.”
“Yeah, I mean their job has always been cool but it’s also a lot to deal with. Their stuff… is a little aggressive sometimes.”
“Aggressive? You don’t mean it ever targets you or anything?”
“Uh, I mean. It’s not supposed to,” he assured. “But Mom and Dad are still working out the kinks. It’s just part of their process. Stuff is a little sensitive around me, I think.”
“Just you? Why’s that?”
“Oh, you know. I’ve just been exposed to a lot more ecto-radiation than most people. Growing up in a house like that, it uh, you run into experiments eventually.”
“Your medical record shows that the last time you were with us, you were admitted for an electrical shock from one of your parents’ inventions.”
“Hehe, yeah. Um. The Fenton Ghost Portal. Don’t recommend getting too close to that during its power-on. Just a little shock, nothing too bad. I mean, Sam and Tucker made it sound worse than it was and so of course Mom freaked out and I didn’t even need to be admitted because nothing happened.”
“You were electrocuted by the portal?” Carmen’s eyes widened. “Did it hurt?”
Did it hurt…
Lightning wracking his body, pain touching every single nerve. The pain ended where Danny began and both bled into each other until they were one and the same. His body seized up, unmoving, except he could feel himself twitching as he was caught in the portal’s start-up, and he knew in that moment that he wasn’t going to survive. Screams ripped through his throat but he couldn’t hear them, didn’t even register their echoes because he was too far gone. Danny was dead. He wasn’t coming back.
And then he did.
“It was a pretty nasty shock, I guess.”
Her brow furrowed. “So, could that have made you sensitive to your parents’ inventions? You said something about—what was it?—ecton-radiation?”
“Ecto-radiation,” he corrected. “And yeah, that was probably it. I mean, their inventions started malfunctioning around me after the accident, but I don’t think it means that much.”
She hummed. “Probably.”

Danny needed surgery on his shoulder. He wasn’t sure what they could do exactly, but he was starting to panic because if they had him under the knife, then surely they’d see that his insides are a little too ghostly to be human. And even if they fail to notice that he bleeds a little green, what if by fixing the injury to his shoulder his core starts healing and they notice that his vitals aren’t right and then they never let him go home because he’s a freak of nature?
Danny’s fucked.
“I’m sorry, Danny, but your parents have consented to your surgery.” Carmen smiled. “They also told me to tell you that they love you and know you’re strong enough to get through this.”
Carmen squeezed his hand and Danny tried to believe her, even though he knew it was futile. They were going to find out he’s part-ghost and there’s nothing he can do about it.
“Now, let’s get you ready for surgery.”
*
When Danny came to after surgery, there were no government agents lurking at the edge of his bed. There were no baffled stares from the doctors. There were no ghost cuffs around his wrists.
There was one of the surgeons, Dr. Nguyen, and Carmen, standing to his left.
“Danny,” Dr. Nguyen greeted, “glad to see you’re awake. The surgery was a success and you’ll be able to regain use of your shoulder in the next few days or so, so no worries about that.”
He waited for it.
The ‘but.’
“But—” he held his breath “—when we were doing examinations after the surgery, we noticed something weird.”
Oh God. Here it is.
‘We  found out that you’re actually some sort of weird human-ghost hybrid and we’re going to have to release you to the care of the Ghost Investigation Ward. Sorry about that!’
Dr. Nguyen shuffled through some papers. “Your appendix is pretty inflamed, enough that we’re worried it might be cause for concern. Do you know what appendicitis is?”
What.
*
They had to be the least observant doctors in the world or something really, really weird was going on here.
Danny was a freak of nature. There was no way they couldn’t put two and two together and not come up with ghost physiology.
Now, the doctors were preparing him for a second surgery and none of them seemed concerned about the fact that Danny’s blood was a lot thinner than it should be and was also, you know, somewhat green. Maybe whatever damaged his core had affected his blood-ectoplasm proportion or something?
He was at a loss.
He was almost tempted to ask, but the last thing he wanted to do was give them something to look for if they hadn’t noticed on their own. So he kept his mouth shut and ate his stupid, sugar-free hospital jello and watched the stupid hospital cable. He was getting sick of Cheers, but it was somewhat favorable to the Real Housewives of Whatever Fresh Hell they’ve descended on now.
(Note to self: Real Housewives parody set in actual Hell. Sam would like that.)
*
“Any word from my family?”
Danny had been in the hospital for almost two weeks now, and he was about to go in for his appendectomy. Carmen had been at his side almost the whole time and it seemed like she was the only one who cared enough to relay messages from Danny’s family to him.
“Jazz says she knows this surgery will be a breeze for you and your parents know you’ll be out in no time,” Carmen said. “Is there anything you want me to tell them back?”
“Tell them I’ll see them soon.”
Danny would be out before long. He didn’t care if the doctors didn’t think he could handle seeing his friends and family, he was getting sick of being trapped in this stupid hospital room and he was going to make them discharge him. He had a life to get back to, after all.
“Will do,” Carmen said.
*
Danny was knocked out before arriving in the Operating Theater. He expected to wake up in his bed like he had during the previous surgery. He hadn’t been expecting to wake up on a cold, metal surface with a light shining in his face, white barren walls framing his vision, and a gloved hand streaked with red and green ooze digging into his torso.
Oh God.
There was a fucking HAND in his chest—!
“—subject’s heart rate spiked, I think he’s awake.”
“Knock him back out. Now!”
“—working—on it—!”
Danny wanted to cling to the vestiges of his consciousness because something was deeply wrong here. His blood had been green and there was no mistaking it.
But the world sank into nothingness all around him.
White walls.
Fading.
To black.
*
He awoke with a gasp. Carmen sat on a stool across from his bed. Expectantly with those oh-so-kind eyes he’d grown to know.
He wasn’t sure if he trusted them anymore.
“You know,” he exhaled.
They all knew he was a ghost hybrid. They’d been lying to him. And for—for what!
“I’m not sure what you mean, Danny,” she said softly.
“I woke up.”
“The doctors told me. That’s a traumatic thing to happen. The drugs don’t often wear off, but it’s a frightening thing when they do and—”
“No. I saw my blood. I know that you know about the ectoplasm, and for some reason you haven’t—why haven’t you—”
“Oh, Danny. We have been meaning to tell you everything, it’s just with your powers, the doctors and your friends were afraid that you would react the wrong way if we told you the truth.”
“My friends?”
“Your friends, Sam and Tucker.” Carmen stood from the stool and hovered beside his bedside. “The truth is, the night that you were found, you were captured by the GIW in a thermos. But then—we’re not sure what happened—they lost you somehow. You were brought here, bleeding out. Your vitals were off the charts, all of which your friends told us was normal. The GIW tried to get you back—”
“They what?”
“They did. But because you’re part-human, they can’t touch you here. You’re safe. As long as you’re in our care, they can’t harm you. Though, the drawback is that you’re also an ecto-entity and you can’t receive any visitors, which is why your family and friends haven’t visited. We thought it best that you have no knowledge of this because you might try to escape and put yourself in danger’s path before you receive medical treatment.” Her eyes were pleading. “Do you understand why we hid this from you, Danny? To keep you safe.”
So the doctors weren’t stupid.
He was.
“So that—so my vitals here. They’ve been fake?”
“Yes. We have access to your real vitals.”
He took this in.
Then there was nothing wrong with his core. Except.
“Then—then why didn’t—?" He touched his shoulder. “Why was I not healing?”
There were holes in her story. He wasn’t sure what they all were yet, but things still weren’t adding up.
“I’m not sure what you mean.”
When he’d woken up the first time, he’d thought it had been a trick of the mind, but he’d sworn he’d seen…
And when he woke up during surgery, all the walls were…
He looked beneath his hospital gown and etched onto his chest was…
No.
“Carmen,” he said tentatively, “did I ever escape from the Guys in White?”
She looked at him with wide, doe-like eyes. “Danny, are you sure you’re feeling okay?”
There were no windows in his room. She was standing between him and the door, so he’d have to make a run for it and fast. If there really was a real hospital outside of this room, then no harm no foul—Carmen would just chalk this up to extreme paranoia.
The other alternative was that there was no such thing as Nurse Carmen.
Danny didn’t waste time ripping out his IV. Instead, he just phased his arm out of it. After not using his powers for so long, his arm felt tingly and numb when he pulled on his core (and not in the familiar way). He leaped to the side, and his chest BURNED and he was suddenly aware of the stitches up and down his torso but he didn’t have time to think about that now because Carmen had just snapped out of her stupor and realized he was making a break for it.
Danny made a mad dash for the door and outside there was a dimly lit vacant corridor. There were no other medical personnel in sight. Danny pulled on his core and let his full transformation sweep over him. He wasn’t sure what he was doing yet, but he didn’t have time to think about it. He tapped into intangibility and flew upwards. He hit the ceiling with a resounding SMACK and careened down toward the floor.
Ghost shield.
“Danny,” Carmen shouted somewhere behind him, “Danny, you’re going to hurt yourself!”
If he couldn’t go up, he would have to follow the corridor until he found a way out. Danny shot down the corridor and noticed as he passed that there were plates for each room number, but none of the doors were open. All were shut. Lights off inside.
Because Danny was the only patient here.
He finally reached the end of the corridor. Where there should be a turn or a door, there was nothing. He tried phasing, but just as he’d tried phasing through the ceiling he hit a ghost shield.
Shit.
Carmen, frizzy hair in a high ponytail and donning teal scrubs, caught up to him.
“Danny, come to your senses. If you leave, the GIW will capture you. You need to recover. Let us buy you some more time.”
“I’m not falling for your tricks again!”
If the ghost shield was inside the wall, he couldn’t do anything as Phantom. However, if the wall wasn’t there… Fenton could step through.
Danny fired up an ectoblast.
Just as he did, there was a pinch at the back of his neck.
No.
Not a pinch.
Waves of white-hot pain—!
Electricity. He was being electrocuted.
He knew the feeling like nothing else. You never forgot how you died.
He crumpled to the floor like a rag doll and Carmen stood over him, a slender white button in her hand.
“A shame,” she frowned, and her voice was sapped of all the warmth he’d come to expect. “I’d hoped our game could go on for a little bit longer.”
Footfalls. More people were coming, from somewhere. Somehow.
Everything hurt.
Everything was on fire.
Carmen crouched down and lolled his head so that he looked her in the eye. “I want you to know that when I agreed to do this job, I was afraid I’d find something human in you. A scared kid. A sympathetic hero. Something.”
His nerves were BURNING—!
Carmen smiled, but not her kind smile. A twisted facsimile of what it once was. “And when I got to know you, I didn’t find it.” She let his head drop to the floor. “Ghost.”
He just wanted it to be OVER oh God oh God oh God—
“What now, Agent C?”
“Put him in the cell with the others. He’s had enough luxury treatment. We got the intel we needed from him.”
Her voice echoed. Quieter.
“Now, the real fun begins.”
