he hates himself for not being able to talk. obviously, he can speak, but not in the way he wants—not in the way where he can outwardly illustrate in words how much he adores your smile, your laugh, your kindness, your everything. he tells you this, and you’re always reassuring him that its okay; you understand he isn’t the best at these things given his troubled past. but what you don’t tell him is that he doesn’t need to tell you his feelings in words because its written plainly in his actions. it’s written in the way his eyes crinkle at jokes only when you’re laughing, and the way he watches intently at your every move and reacts if your body is too close to the corner of the table or stairs. in the way his mouth opens ever so slightly when you wear that dress he loves so much and the tracing of your name on your back when he’s anxious. thus, despite his doubtful mind, you know he loves you. nonetheless, every so often you two will lay in bed, waist cradled between his arms, eyes shut in false slumber as you listen to his rambling. “i love you. a lot. i’m sorry i don’t say it enough. do i deserve you? sometimes i feel selfish for keeping your perfection to myself. someday i’ll get over myself and find out how to tell you how much i love your eyes, your face when you’re excited over the things you like, and the way you’re so understanding over everything. i’ll love you forever. i hope that’s obvious.” the confession is so quiet, you can’t be sure if it’s real, but it’s enough for a smile to ghost your lips as you turn around to press a chaste kiss to his lips. “i love you too.” “you were awake?!”

summary: a small argument results in long-term consequences.
warnings: light angst, insecurities, suggestive stuff towards the end
pairing: tsukishima kei x popular!reader
notes: did you guys know tsuki is actually really insecure about himself?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
why did you ever think dating an outwardly rude guy was such a great idea?
there you were, sobbing into your pillow because the both of you had an argument. the whole thing was just idiotic in a sense; the argument started out with a discussion about something stupid but turned heated as you both went on and on.
of course, the two of you had had arguments before but they weren't to the extent that you had to press pause on the relationship.
that was the exact reason you were currently sobbing.
it was never excepted that this argument would have tsukishima impulsively pause the relationship.
you didn't get to cry for long as your eyelids felt heavy and before you knew it, you had fallen asleep.
the next day was hell because you had to act like nothing was wrong—like everything was perfect in your life. the most popular student shouldn't have a flaw nor problem in her life. that was the standard you set for yourself to follow.
so with that, you put on a charming smile and proceeded to behave as though nothing was wrong.
it irritated tsukishima when he watched you interact with others in such a normal way, even he was acting more impolite than usual because of your fight. you, on the other hand, were acting as if everything were fine and dandy.
and he didn't like that.
"you know, you can go apologize instead of just watching from a distance like a stranger."
yamaguchi suggests but tsukishima only tells him to shut up, which the green haired boy happily complies to.
how would i even begin to apologize if she's treating things like normal?
the taller male doesn't voice these thoughts, though, as he feels it would be useless to get advice from yamaguchi.
even at practice he notices you're more chipper than usual. it was the calm before the storm, tsukishima concludes finally.
the first few hours of school you hadn't talked with your boyfriend and it was fine, but when the last hours of school ticked by you grew worried.
you knew tsukishima was a stubborn and prideful guy, and so it wasn't a problem when you two wouldn't talk for a few hours. but he would never go to the extent of straight up ignoring you for eight days.
at this point, you were close to breaking down in public because of this. other students have already began noticing your extremely happy mood these past few days.
friends would ask if you were alright and that you seemed off.
you denied answering any of these questions and only resumed with whatever you were doing because you didn't want to worry them.
in light of this, you reacted strangely and this caused students to be more attentive of you.
well, not everyone.
your boyfriend still ignores you—even if you make the effort to try and talk to him.
"oi, tsukishima."
tsukishima looks up from his seat on the floor of the gym and sees kageyama with that serious expression of his.
the blonde only raises an eyebrow at his sudden appearance.
"what did you do?"
kageyama asks which shocks tsukishima slightly, the king would never talk to him about anything other than volleyball—unless accompanied by the ginger.
"what?"
"to my sister."
not even about his own sister.
the raven points at you in the distance. you looked awfully gloomy—actually you've been gloomy all week, but you hid it with a deceiving smile.
tsukishima was annoyed at that, annoyed because you were behaving as though everything was fine, and annoyed because of your fight.
but why was he even angry with you?
it wasn't your fault to begin with.
"i would never do that."
you say, tears threatening to fall from your eyes. tsukishima scoffs at the answer you give him.
"i saw the messages, so don't lie to me!"
"what texts?!"
"the one with that friend of yours! that– that stranger you always text."
it was your turn to scoff at the ridiculous accusation.
"your just misunderstood, kei."
you try to explain the situation but tsukishima wouldn't have it, he was rambling at that point.
"i don't even know why you chose me. you could have chosen anyone at your disposal but you chose me out of what? pity?"
those tears feel hot against your cheeks now.
"no! i don't pity you, kei. why would i?!"
"i don't know, maybe because i asked you out in front of your classmates? maybe because i looked pathetic doing it so you just had to say yes as to not damage your reputation?"
you were shaking in bitter laugher.
"what reputation?"
"you know what i'm talking about! you're popular, you've always been so popular, perfect, likable.. so why? why, out of everyone, would you choose me?"
"because i–" i love you.
the words stumble in your mouth.
"because you're who i want, who truly sees me as me, who i can be myself around. that's why i chose you."
"well you chose wrong."
it felt as if a sword pierced through your heart when you heard those words.
"i need time to think."
"kei, wait please!"
the blonde distinctly remembers you leaving his home with red puffy eyes because of the argument.
"that's none of your business."
he finally answers, but it only makes kageyama more infuriated.
"you better fix it, fast."
is all he says, however, as he didn't want to make a scene.
"whatever."
tsukishima stands and steps to tower in front of the shorter student as he says,
"it's still none of your business."
you were watching the interaction happen with a glum look until yachi taps your shoulder. the gesture makes you turn towards her with a forced smile.
"what's wrong?"
the female student says before any words are spoken between you two.
"nothing, i'm just feeling a bit down today."
"i suppose you've been down for the past week as well?"
her words surprise you and, immediately, you glance at where tsukishima was in nervousness.
yachi also looks toward his direction and 'ah's knowingly—something she began doing instead of reacting loudly ever since you all became second years.
"relationship problems?"
"it's complicated.."
"tell me about it."
the events from that night taunted you, but you desperately wished to vent to someone—luckily it had been hitoka as she already knew about the relationship.
the second year sits on the polished wood floor and pats the space next to her.
you sigh, following her actions and sat on the floor.
"it was a fight. kei, he accused me of cheating and i tried to explain that it wasn't like that but he changed the topic to why i was even with him. he told me that i pitied him, and that i was only in a relationship with him because i didn't want to damage my reputation."
your thoughts become incoherent, unclear, and hard to follow so you pause to try and collect yourself.
"but i don't, i don't pity him– i wouldn't. i just care for him so much and i don't want to lose him. i don't know how to make this right, i don't know how to apologize because this wasn't even my fault! i just.. i just want everything to be ok between us again."
tears form in your eyes but don't spill, the agony of having to hide the frustration seemed to be reaching closer to the surface everyday.
yachi, who had been quietly listening, extends her arm for a hug.
"it's going to be alright, he'll come to you when he's ready to apologize."
"i hope it'll be soon because i don't know how much longer i can put on a fake smile."
you laugh sarcastically and stand up, holding your hand out for hitoka to take.
that was tsukishima's queue to leave the area. he overheard the conversation you had with the second year, and it made him realize it doesn't matter if his insecurities were giving him doubts.
"my duty is my heart."
he would always hear you say. he thought it was stupid, who would make their heart their duty? it was idiotic to follow your heart, that mindset would only get you hurt in the end.
but maybe, just this once, he would follow his heart.
he would follow his heart all the way back to you.
you were bidding some school friends goodbye as it was the end of school when tsukishima approached you.
the tall male looks at you and gestures to a more private place to talk.
"what do you need, kei?"
you ask. you already knew why he needed to talk, but having been ignored for a week straight, you wanted to hear him apologize.
tsukishima hesitates before speaking.
"last week i reacted poorly and irrationally. i accused you of things i know you didn't do, and i.. i'm sorry. can you forgive me?"
you cross your arms over your chest in annoyance.
"you're an asshole, you know that?"
the blonde clenches his fists at the comment as he stares at you in slight desperation. the annoyance in your expression fades as you smile brightly—which confuses tsukishima.
"you're an asshole, but i forgive you. i forgive you, tsukishima kei."
you watch as your boyfriend sighs in relief and relax at your answer.
"you aren't mad?"
"oh, i'm very mad. you ignored me for a whole week and accused me of something i would never do. of course i would be mad."
tsukishima tenses again, but you hold his hand to reassure him.
"but, i still forgive you. i care for you, kei, a lot. i don't even think i could go two days without a good morning or goodnight from you, that's how much i like you."
"i care about you too, so much. i was just feeling insecure and seeing you with other people much better than me.."
you shut him up with a squeeze of his hand and a gentle smile.
"you have every right to be insecure but trust me when i say you are more than enough for me. sure, you may be an asshole but you're my asshole, and i'm not going to replace you with anyone else for as long as i live."
"so you'll get together with someone else in the afterlife?"
kei jests and you lightly punch his arm in response, a smile growing on both your faces.
"i might if you keep talking like that."
"good luck finding someone who's more of a pain in the ass than me."
arrogant as always, you roll your eyes at the comment jokingly.
"it won't be hard."
the words come out as a whisper as you pull him towards you and lean in close.
"that's believable."
tsukishima replies in a sarcastic tone, moving closer until your lips touch.
it was light and soft, like a feather brushing your arm, but soon it felt like a fireplace's heat as the desperation for each other seeped into the gentle kiss.
it had only been a week but that seemed like one week too long for the both of you without each other's touch.
the next day you were layered with familiar purple bruises around the upper part of your body. it was a joy tsukishima decided not to cover your jaw or areas on your neck that were visible.
after all, he was quite generous with them yesterday.
still, your body ached from the fast and needy pace your boyfriend had marked you in—that same boyfriend who was currently eyeing you down.
"what?" you ask in suspicion.
"maybe we should have heated arguments more often if i get to do this to you."
"kei!"

Donnaaaaaa………just thinking about kissing HQ men like Akaashi, Ushijima, n Kags :<
what kind of kissers would you consider them? where do you think they prefer to kiss you? hehe
Hey Grey!! Mm, soft kisses are on my mind today so this was a lovely ask! <3
Akaashi Keiji
He is a patient kisser. Akaashi wants you absolutely desperate for him, for his lips. The man is calculated and precise, brushing his lips at the shell of your ear and planting kisses to the inside of your wrist. Anything that will make your heart flutter just for him. Personally, I don’t think he always wants to drive the kiss and is happy to let you lead, he might even let out a moan if you push your tongue over his teeth… 🤭
Given that he is a clever man, forever strategising, this does mean that sometimes he can get lost in it. Where does he kiss first once he has you beneath him? Your chest, the sweet crook of your neck, your swollen lips (either set 😏)? Give him direction because he works well with it. Every part of you is his favourite part so please tell him where you want his mouth and he’ll worship you as you deserve.
Ushijima Wakatoshi
He’s a stoic man, there’s no getting past that, but he loves deeply. Honestly? I think he would be a very passionate kisser. He isn’t into PDA but in the sanctity of your home he is known to pull you onto his lap when his kisses deepen. Ushijima doesn’t know how to feel only on a surface level, he is an all or nothing man imo, and you are his everything. If he wants to kiss you then it’s going to be deep nearly every single time.
As for where he likes to kiss you? Your lips, of course. He’s traditional like that, and you fit so perfectly against him. But when I say your lips, that is not neglecting the set between your legs… he is a ravenous man when it comes to eating pussy, and can become drunk on your arousal insanely easily. For someone that doesn’t emote outwardly very often, he sure does smile real wide and lopsided when his chin and mouth are glossy and slick.
Kageyama Tobio
Surprisingly tender? He just craves that reassurances that sometimes he can only get from you. For someone so talented and skilled in his profession, he can be self-conscious in his personal life. It took him an age to find the nerve to ask you out, and now that he has you in his life, he never wants to lose you. Kisses are a way of grounding him when his mind is hectic and he savours those moments when he can pull you close and taste you.
The crook of your neck is his second home. Kageyama will spend so long buried into the soft juncture between your neck and shoulder. He loves to inhale your scent mingled with the dabs of your perfume. His lips skate over your collarbone and settle against the rhythmic pulse in your neck. He loves to feel your fingers card through his hair and if you’re draped over his lap then he’s not easily going to be moved. He has all the time in the world so why not indulge until you’re begging for more?

On 20th March 2013, Miya Atsumu’s soulmate’s voice manifested clearly inside his head. All of his excitement and anticipation from months of waiting for his soulmate went down the drain from only four words.
“I don’t want you.”
It was a boy, that’s all Atsumu could tell. He sounded young, probably younger than him. That was the only thing he knew about his soulmate.
The rejection was already devastating, but the silence from his soulmate after days, months even, of begging, demanding for answers, was what prompted Atsumu to finally give up on everything he had ever wanted.
He fell on bad habits, drinking away his sorrows and fooling around. Upon seeing Osamu’s devastation at his self destruction, Atsumu stopped and started recovering.
On his second year of playing with MSBY Black Jackals, his soulmate reached out to him again.
“Hey.”
Atsumu almost flubbed his game. Despite the obvious concern from his teammates, he gritted his teeth and continued. His silence towards his soulmate felt damning but a big part of him was petty, still heartbroken from the rejection.
“I know you’re listening.” His soulmate spoke again, when Atsumu was in the locker room. He’d won the game, but he still feel defeated.
He had plenty of questions but Atsumu didn’t want to talk to someone who didn’t want him.
“I’m sorry. I’m sorry for rejecting you. I’m sorry for hurting you. I’m sorry I wasn’t ready for you.” The voice said, almost desperate with remorse. Atsumu was on the bus back to the team’s dormitory.
He ignored his soulmate.
“If.. you ever find it in you to talk to me again, to fix this, you can find me. My name.. is Sakusa Kiyoomi.”
Atsumu cracked a small, hollowed smile in his kitchen. He wasn’t surprised. He’d known since Kiyoomi had opened his mouth to introduce himself back in training camp.
The confirmation felt like a nail on his coffin. He’d known.
That felt a lot like his downfall. Kiyoomi didn’t know it was him. How could he, when he refused to even give Atsumu a chance to talk?
So, out of the goodness of his heart, he decided to give his soulmate a proper farewell.
“I don’t want ya either.”
There was stunned silence. He knew Kiyoomi had heard him. He knew Kiyoomi knew who he was. He smiled, empty and bitter as he listened to the pleas that filtered through his mind before finally putting up the walls that blocked his soulmate from invading his head, just the way Kiyoomi had done after his rejection.
He knew he was being petty, cruel, but he never wanted to chase after people who didn’t want him. Not when he was in middle school, shunned by his peers, not when his haters jeered at him, especially not now when his own soulmate had rejected him.
Everything comes in full circle when Atsumu shows up to MSBY’s recent try outs and comes face to face with the regret and frustration on the face of his soulmate, Sakusa Kiyoomi. Atsumu feels rattled but keeps his composure, even though he can feel his soulmate’s stare heavy on his back.
When the official recruits join their team, Atsumu isn’t surprised that Kiyoomi got in. MSBY would’ve been idiots if they rejected someone as talented as him. The newly reformed team goes out for drinks.
Like any other social groups, their topic gravitates towards soulmates. Atsumu tries not to feel bitter as Meian recounts his meeting with his soulmate, but both of them choose to remain platonic. She was his “best man” at his wedding. Or that Shoyou had always known his soulmate was Kageyama Tobio from their first meeting. Or how Keiji had never told him to shut up during work whenever Koutarou went on mental spiels on their link.
Of course, the conversation lands on Atsumu, because nobody was brave enough to bother Kiyoomi and his vicious, cold glares.
“What about you, Atsumu-san?” Oh so sweet Shoyou asks innocently.
The older members exchange looks. Koutarou outwardly winces. Shoyou looks at them, confused. Atsumu keeps his eyes on his glass, avoiding Kiyoomi’s gaze on him like he’d been doing the whole time.
“He didn’t want me.” Atsumu says offhandedly. At Shoyou’s stunned look, he hurries to say, “ ‘s okay. I don’t want him either. I don’t make a habit of wantin’ people who don’t want me. I made peace with it.”
“Still.” Koutarou pouts. “You’re his soulmate. Aren’t soulmates meant to be? You can’t just reject them!”
Atsumu smiles as he drinks. He meets Kiyoomi’s gaze unwaveringly as he says, “even fate makes mistakes, it seems.”
For the first time that night, Kiyoomi speaks; “Maybe they had their reasons.”
The team looks at him with varying degree of concerns and suspicion. Atsumu chuckles without humor.
“Maybe he did, but I ain’t gonna stick around and find out. I don’t give second chances.” He slams his empty glass on the table, startling everyone.
“That was fun, but imma dip.” He says, standing up. Atsumu lets his gaze roam his new team, but pointedly skips over Kiyoomi. “I gotta help out ‘Samu with his shop tomorrow so I can’t do much fun shit tonight.”
He can tell that Kiyoomi wants to leave, wants to catch up to him and get them to talk. When his soulmate stands, Atsumu brushes past him, completely shutting down any of his attempts.
He’d been hurt once. Never again.
Atsumu doesn’t give second chances, even if it’s his soulmate.

Tumblr media
ft.: futakuchi x f!reader
word count: ~800 words
a/n: my second entry for @cup-of-fluff's a time to shine collab! luna, thank you again for letting me join!
Tumblr media
Futakuchi is in a sour mood.
It isn’t because his teacher scolded him for showing up late to class. And it isn’t because of the depressing grey and rainy weather outside that meant the team is stuck in the gym all day for after-school practice. And it isn’t because he’s currently been at practice for less than ten minutes and Kamasaki already scolded him for failing to be respectful to his upperclassmen.
Well, maybe that last thing is slightly irking him, but how could it not? Kamasaki’s presence and demands that he be more respectful was like a constant thorn in his side.
No, what had been bothering him was the image of you, one of Date Tech’s managers, and Koganegawa entering the school grounds together, underneath the same umbrella.
It wasn’t like he was jealous or anything. Why would he be jealous? You and Futakuchi were friendly, nothing more and nothing less. He was simply curious why you two were walking together.
Was there something going on between you and Koganegawa?
Futakuchi has to remind himself that it was highly unlikely. The first-year is undoubtedly a hardworking and loyal teammate, but he also is kind of like a baby giraffe: tall, lanky, a bit awkward and slightly naive.
Meanwhile, you are charming, intelligent, beautiful, funny and generous. There were countless guys at school who pined after you and Futakuchi knew that you’ve received a few confessions in the past. But no matter how sweet or well-thought out the confessions were, you turned every single one of them down politely. Futakuchi always assumed that this signified that there was someone you already liked. Maybe Koganegawa is the one you like?
But again, Futakuchi tells himself, he is only mildly curious about the situation. Not jealous at all.
“Oi, what’s with that pouty look on your face?!” a voice calls out to him from the door of the storage room, snapping the second-year out of his thoughts. Futakuchi looks up from the cart of volleyballs he was supposed to wheel into the gym and sees Kamasaki, who appears to have forgotten about their little squabble earlier.
“I don’t have a pouty look on my face,” Date Tech’s ace retorts as he hides away any emotion (and potential pout) on his face with a mask of nonchalance. Why was Kamasaki still hanging out at practice again anyways? He didn’t need to be here since he, Moniwa and Sasaya all decided to leave the team after their loss to Karasuno.
“You totally do!” Kamasaki barks out laughing before leaning against the door frame, a knowing gleam shining in his eyes. “Let me guess: you finally asked Y/N out and she rejected you?”
Irritation swells through the brown-haired boy as he pushes the cart of volleyballs out of the room, forcing the former middle blocker to jump out of the way.
“For the millionth time, I don’t like Y/N in that way,” Futakuchi grumbles as he shoulders past Kamasaki.
As much Futakuchi denies his feelings towards you to himself and everyone on the volleyball team, it is obvious that he has a crush on you. He isn’t overly snarky towards you. Perhaps occasionally sarcastic, but you always fired back with your own sarcastic comments, which made him laugh. He was never mean to you or gave you a hard time. Whenever you were around, he was more attentive and more outwardly kind. And it was impossible to miss the fact that he genuinely smiles whenever you talk together.
Kamasaki was about to open his mouth and point this all out to the stubborn new captain when you suddenly sprint past them towards Koganegawa, who was leaning against the gym wall, trying to imitate Kageyama Tobio’s nail care routine before practice commenced.
“Kogane! I wanted to thank you again for this morning!” Futakuchi hears your angelic voice announce.
From the corner of his eye, he catches the big-bone setter giving you a bright smile as he cheerfully responds, “No problem, Y/N!”
“I can’t believe I forgot my umbrella today. When it started raining on my way to school, I thought I was going to have to show up to class completely soaked.”
“Good thing I ran into you then!”
“Definitely,” you reply with a wide grin that makes Futakuchi’s heart ache. “Well, I’ll let you get warmed up for practice then.”
And with that, you leave Koganegawa and jog past Futakuchi once again, but this time, you throw him a small smile that causes his aching heart to skip a beat. As you make your way to help Nametsu set up the gym for practice, he is left wondering why small gestures like these are allowed to have such an effect on a person’s heart.
“Looks like you have no reason to pout anymore,” Kamasaki quietly remarks and Futakuchi senses that a knowing and teasing smirk is gracing his upperclassman's lips. But instead of confirming this assumption, Futakuchi watches you with his own small smile.

3/6/24 Mob Psycho 100
I'm always thankful for class choice week cause it allows me to either visit someone's favorite work, or in this case allow me to rewatch a series that had a profound impact on me over the course of its run. Mob Psycho 100 is an outwardly simplistic, goofy-looking show that happens to involves great action and a power system as commonly seen with any popular Shonen series. However, where Mob differs in how it handles its characters, with there not being a long intensive plot like Attack on Titan, but instead a focus on the character development of our main cast for an effective coming-of-age story for all that are present. Through these episodes we are introduced to the main dynamic of the show, Shigeo Kageyama or "Mob" works for the psychic fraud Reigen Arataka who eventually become accompanied by the spirit Dimple, where shenanigans ensue each episode as the trio deals with either spirits, other psychics, and eventually entire organizations, however these plotlines are not what the show mostly focuses on. This anime focuses on growth and personal development, with Mob being blessed with godlike psychic powers but outwardly rejecting to use them as a crutch and instead working towards bettering himself the normal way, this puts him at odds with the psychics and spirits he often encounters that possess a sense of superiority due to their powers. This serves as another narrative crux on the responsibility that comes with such powers and influence like with Mob, where he is seen as the most powerful but a mystery to many of the other characters as to how he chooses to use them. This sense of responsibility grants Mob a sense of emotional intelligence and empathetic ability that allows him to resolve many of the conflicts of his show, aside from Mob's own intrinsic battle for identity and self acceptance as he progresses through the many challenges of his adolescence. Mob Psycho 100 effectively serves as commentary for Shonen as a whole with how unorthodox the main cast is, Reigen being seen as a scrupulous conman who pawns off his "psychic services" when in reality he possesses none of these abilities, an outwardly negative look at his character. However, this conman is a fantastic role model for a figure like Mob who stresses the responsibility of his powers and serves as a mentor and friend during his tumultuous times in middle school and his battles with psychics, twisting an outwardly negative character to an endearing mentor that serves as the soul of the show. Speaking of soul, Dimple serves as a foil character to Mob for a majority of the show with him constantly desiring power and fame for his strength, when in reality Mob treats him like a friend and doesn't particularly note his superiority and plans of domination as he's stronger than him. This dynamic all comes to a head in Ep. 30, where Mob confronts Dimple who has essentially become a deity-like figure of psychic power and refuses to fight him because he sees Dimple's desire for fame and adoration for what it really is, a desire for friendship that Mob was more than willing to engage with. This culminates in Dimple's sacrifice for Mob allowing him to escape the battlefield of the giant Broccoli tree, an action done out of the love for his friend. This idea of surface level silliness sheltering nuanced character writing is best emphasized with the art style and color choices that the anime chooses. Everyone is simplistic looking and almost can be seen as a caricature of people and an exaggeration of spirits, but this outward appearance serves as a foundation for the gorgeous animation to work off of due to the natural simplicity of the character designs. Alongside this, we have the choice of colors, where I think this anime's usage of color is top notch, with it having a base palette that is only expanded to showcase the psychic abilities or whenever Mob reaches "???%" to characterize the sheer awesome nature of his abilities, and only further signifying the uniqueness of these abilities. In short, I feel that this work is a wonderful coming-of-age story!

Tumblr media
The depiction of 100% courage is that of a change in art style, overall tone, and an almost magical-girl like sentiment that oozes throughout the sequence. This clear transition signifies the influx of emotional control mob possesses over abilities, further showcasing his growth in not just his character but in his abilities facing the new esper threat in Mogami.

◇───────◇──◇──◇───────◇
Everything felt so heavy on your body. The air was thick, so suffocating you wondered if it was enough for you to drown on land. The noise around you, the beautiful giggles you had blissfully listened to when everyone laughed at the relationship between Kageyama and Shoyo, was no longer present in your mind. Everything felt like a blur. You couldn't remember when you last felt happiness in your life as you stared hopelessly at your phone.
"Dear student,
You are receiving this email due to a lack of satisfaction with the university. You must appeal to be reinstated. The university will send a separate form with instructions for the scholarships and financial aid. This includes a decrease in assistance. The department will need documented evidence for the appeal.”
What the fuck.
You couldn't hear anything. The lump in your throat increasingly grew; your world felt like it was crumbling down to the ground. Why was this happening? How do you give the university documented evidence of all the struggles you have gone through in life? Especially the last three years when a man ruined your life? How could you allow this man who took so much from you already, to continue to take more things? How could you become so weak? You just started college, and it's barely under your grasp already. You felt like life played you as a joke. What else could go wrong? What more can you lose. "Fuck," You softly mumbled to yourself. You wanted to scream so desperately at the failure you've become.
Suna's eyes stared deeply at you with concern. Everyone was gathered in the restaurant, a time for friends to catch up after the university days came to an end for the year. He watched you carefully in the background, the way your nose scrunched in pain as you stared at your phone. He swore that he could see utter misery flash across your features, knowing inside how desperately you were trying to hold on to whatever emotions you had going on inside. Yet, when you didn't look up with that beautiful smile he loves, he knew that whatever you saw must have pushed you over the edge. It baffled him how no one else picked up on this mood change you outwardly showed, how your body screamed to be held, to be cooed that everything would be okay. You are okay in this world, and nothing else will come in the way of your dreams.
Suna knew how much you struggled throughout the first year of college, even if others hadn't noticed. He always watched how you would smile at Shoyo with sadden eyes, your lips never making their way up to the point that your eyes could scream just how much joy you were experiencing At that moment. He couldn't understand how someone who played the role of happiness could be so broken inside. He wanted to grab you, kiss you, love you in every way possible to see a genuine smile on your lips. His hand itched to feel all of your body, telling you just how insanely beautiful you are. His lips wanted to touch your frowning ones. He wanted to experience how softly they would move against his own in the way that they moved against Atsumu's lips. Lips that didn't deserve to touch yours. A pair of hands that had no right to roam your body so freely. I love you's that slipped his best friend's mouth without true meaning.
Suna wanted to change that. To show you what true love is, how much better it is than Atsumu's love. Why was he so invisible to you? Even if he could stare at you for hours, you never noticed. He watched the way all the light you ever had in your eyes disappeared at this very moment, and your boyfriend couldn't give two shits. Why were you with him? Why do you let his empty I love yous hold so much meaning in your heart when Atsumu wouldn't even look your way? When he was too busy flirting his way into another girl's heart in front of your own eyes? His golden fox-like eyes searched for an answer, a reaction from you. His eyes shifted over to Atsumu, openly flirting away with the waitress. His heart filled with anger, his mind getting clouded. He opened his mouth to speak, to give Atsumu a piece of his mind but a hand stopped all of that.
Almost in an instant, he turned to look at the person who had placed their hand on their shoulder. Osamu. The ungrateful brat's twin brother. His eyes were soft, but his head shaking no said otherwise. What a fucking jerk. How could his brother allow this to continue knowing that Y/n was broken inside? Osamu sighed, leaning in to whisper in Suna's ear. "It's not our relationship. It is not our business to get involved. Let her go" He grumbled in a monotone voice. "She has to decide what's best, not you. It may not seem like it, but my brother does love her." He continued on, not realizing how much those words could shatter Suna's heart. Not realizing how distracted he got by them until he saw you were gone. You slipped away once again from his grasp.
You quietly stood up from your chair. You didn't want to draw anyone's attention. Deep inside, you knew that if someone questioned if you were okay or not, you would break on the spot. No one needs to see inside you. No one needs to know what goes on in your life. It's your life for a reason, it is your problem to deal with. Silently, you pushed your chair in. Your beautiful eyes glanced over at your boyfriend, watching how his body faced the waitress. How easy it was for him to give another woman the attention you craved so deeply inside from him. You watched for a moment, how his hands touched hers, sliding up and down along her small forearm as he smiled at her with the cheekiest smile, a smile you missed too much from him. A smile you wish was only reserved for yourself. A soft sigh left your lips, and from there you were gone. Your footsteps felt so heavy, the rain outdoors soaking your clothes and hair. Part of you cursed at the weather, but the other part of that was crying had praised the rain for covering the tears that streamed down your face. Your nails dug into your soft flesh, little drops of blood-forming around them as your body trembled from the overwhelming emotions that hit you at once. You are suspended from college. Your boyfriend is openly flirting in front of all your friends. You were all alone right now and you wanted to ju-
"Where the fuck do you think you're going?" Atsumu harshly grabbed your wrist to yank your body back into his. Your eyes widened, mouth-drying up more than it already was. You felt your body tremble more under his darkened eyes, his lips in a straight line as his grip tightened with every minute that passed. "Answer the fucking question," He growled lowly at you, his body towering over your own. You watched as his hair became more and more damped, the bright soft color of his shirt darkening from the droplets of the water. He's so angry. He's really angry. "I-I was going to go back home. I just wanted to go home and think" Your voice sounded more like a plead that a statement of truth. That is what you wanted to do. You wanted to run away from all this agony you felt inside. You wanted to be under your bedsheets with soft music bouncing off your walls. You didn't want to watch your boyfriend cheat anymore. You didn't want to fake your happiness again, at least not today.
"Who gave you permission?"
"P-permission?"
His eyes stared into yours, you swear you couldn't read what they screamed inside. "Who gave you fucking permission to leave?" Atsumu pulled you closer, a soft whimper leaving your lips as you felt your wrist bone ache in pain from his grip. "Atsumu, please, you’re hurting me.." You whispered softly, your other hand trying desperately to pry off his own from your aching wrist. Atsumu's eyes softened at this, his hand loosening as he muttered a small apology to you. Why was he this way with you? He did again. “Fuck” rang in his head as his arms snaked their way around your shoulders, pulling you in a gentle manner to give you a hug. "Fuck. Fuck, I'm so sorry baby. I did it again, didn't I?" He whispered softly into your hair, his chin on top of your wet head from the rain.
"I'm sorry baby, I was just worried, okay? You disappeared from me. I got anxious and came looking for you" He grumbled, your eyes staring at his chest emptily. "It's okay.." Your voice sounds so angelic in his ears, even when he is the biggest asshole to you. The way you spoke so softly to him even after he repeatedly hurt you makes him crumble under your touch. He knows you deserve so much better than him. He knows you deserve someone to treat you like you're their world. He didn't understand why he treated you this way or when it started. All he knew inside was that this was a constant pattern with him. "I'll take you home, okay?" His voice now sounded soft and with love, his hands making their way to your waist to give a gentle squeeze. You glanced up at him, teary eyes staring into his dark ones. A soft smile began to spread along his lips, loving just how broken you looked. It took you a moment to process how soon the two of you had connected your lips together. Your eyes were wide but slowly closed as you felt his soft ones move along your own. Your breath was being taken away with this kiss, your hands reaching his shirt to pull him in closer. His own hands tighten around your waist, pulling your body closer to his own. "A-astumu" you whispered softly against his lips, trying to let him know that you needed air but he didn't care. He only grinned sheepishly against them, his hands now making their way down to your hips as he pulled you as close as possible. His kiss became more hungry, much more aggressive. "Shut the fuck up." he grumbled back in response, wanting pure silence from both of you as he kissed you like there was no tomorrow.
Shut the fuck up? Suna's golden eyes watched the way that Atsumu kissed you with so much hunger. The way that you stood on the tips of your toes to accommodate his own height. He listened from a distance how you quietly whimpered his name for air, only given a couple of seconds to let you breathe before being thrown into another kiss of hunger. The way that your back was held by his own large hands, while the other one rested on top of your ass. It was a sight that everyone else would feel uncomfortable witnessing, but all Suna could feel inside is envy. Anger. Frustration. How could you let someone so cruel to your heart hold you this way? He wanted to be the one to hold you gently, to kiss you passionately instead of hungrily. To touch your body in the privacy of his room instead of showing the world how beautiful your body is under a person's touch. He looked away, shoving his hands in his pockets. He needs to get away from this. He needs to get away from you. He can't handle everything you do to him. He can't handle how his body reacts when he watches his best friend kiss you, your shoulders, your hands. He can't handle the impure thoughts that rush to his mind every time you would touch his shoulders softly when standing up from the couch in the Miya twin's house. He can't handle watching you cry in the distance when your boyfriend openly flirts. How can you forgive so easily? How can your heart be so big to someone who loved seeing you break under their touch?
He didn't notice the way that Atsumu stared at him as he kissed you hungrily, a satisficed smirk slipping along his lips for a second in victory. That's fucking right. She's mine. He watched the way that Suna left the scene, staring daggers into his best friend's back before he pulled away from your soft lips. A string of saliva pulled as you two separated, an indication of just how deeply that kiss went until it broke and you two were no longer connected. You breathe heavily, glad to finally get some air even if the rain made that a little more difficult. Talk about kissing in the rain cliché. Atsumu glanced down at you, a cheeky smile on his face from the way you looked. You looked so adorable, a cute little mess from his touch. The way your mouth was slightly parted as you took in much air, the light pink dusted along your cheeks and the way the tip of your nose was a rosy pink made his heart squirm a little. He loves it when you blush, especially when you cry from hurt. This was a distraction enough for you. A temporary distraction from the agonizing pain you felt inside after reading that email. It was better to just deal with that later than now. He had your attention. No, he owned your attention. He owned you, and you weren't going to fight that. Moments like these made you feel so much more loved inside than those where he yelled at you for dropping a spoon or called you a slut for speaking to suna. It was enough to keep you in this relationship. It was enough to endure his insults, his possessiveness. It was enough to continue to smile through the pain. You were addicted to him, intoxicated by his touch that everything else was durable. You love him.
---
The alarm made its presence known too well for your liking, your hand lazily hitting your nightstand until you found that blaring clock. With a push of a button, it stopped screaming at you to wake up and start your day. Your body ached so badly, a white stream of dried drool on the side of your mouth. Your hair already felt like it was way too tangled for your liking so maybe a shower is the better choice than sitting there and brushing it out. Atsumu was still heavily asleep beside you, taking up almost the entire bed with his large, muscular body. The sheets barely hanging onto his hips, his legs spread a little. His face was cutely against one of your pillows as he drooled into it as well. His forearms rested underneath the pillow, his biceps prominent, but so soft looking. The sheets were so thin that while they rested on his hips, his ass was still nicely seen under them, capturing the round shape you adore. A smile crept along your lips, remembering the events that happened last night.
Your hands tugged at his hair, soft whimpers leaving your lips as you squirmed under his touch. His tongue worked its magic, swirling around your clit while his fingers pumped deeply into your dripping cunt. His brown eyes filled with lust watching the way you melted under his touch. "A-Atsumu" You'd whimper, hoping that the hint of begging in your tone would make him stop abusing your pussy as much as he already was. He only chuckled against your heat, his fingers pumping in and out at a faster rate that made your back arch. Your knuckles turned white from the way you gripped the sheets so tightly, feeling another euphoria coming along quickly. He didn't care if you were currently crushing his head with your thighs, the way you would moan his name drove him crazy enough to the point he was grinding his hips a little to feel any kind of fraction against her member. He sucked your clit harshly, little tingles of pain shooting across your body as you moaned his name with curse words flowing behind. Your body shivered from the euphoria, shuddering as he continued to eat you out, loving the way you taste against his mouth. His fingers slipped out, covered in your juices and cum. He sat up, groaning lowly when his member hit against his abdomen, his other hand lightly tugging at it to ease the pulsing sensation that ran along its long length. "Suck." He ordered in a low voice,  his fingers in your face. You slowly opened your mouth, surprised at how fast he shoved his digits into your mouth. You lightly sucked on them, tasting yourself on his fingers. It made you cringe a little, before, but it's become a part of your sex life that you no longer cared about tasting yourself. Actually, you always craved to feel his fingers deep in your throat after eating you out so ruthlessly. Your mind was so occupied with his order that you squealed loudly when he shoved his length inside your throbbing, worn-out pussy. Tears formed on the corners of your eyes, feeling pain shoot up from your core at the stretching of your muscles. He groaned softly when he had pushed into your core, loving the way you felt so tightly around him. He's addicted.
It started slow, gentle even. The way his hips thrust into your throbbing core, his fingers out of your mouth at this point. His hand was on one side of your head while his other was on the headboard of your bed. It felt sensual, it looked perfect from another perspective. He looked so angelic fucking your brains out. The way his hips would move could keep you mesmerized forever. Each thrust made you moan loudly, your hands finding their way onto his shoulder as you closed your eyes. Your lips getting caught between your teeth, legs shaking lightly at his thrust. His lips found their way onto your neck, placing slopping and wet kissing along with it. He never hesitates to mark what he owns. You're his. You're only his and no one else's. Not even Suna's, and he will always make sure he knows that. His thrusting became more frantic, quite grateful you had gotten the birth control implant in your arm. He could finally feel all of you in a raw matter. His head continuously hits that spot that always drives you over the edge, his hand coming off the headboard to slide along your thigh. He pulled your thigh forward so your knee was closer to your chest, his nails digging into your soft flesh as you started to raise your voice with each thrust. The room getting filled with both of you two's moans, his desperation taking over as became more restless, his hips now slamming into yours to catch to his own high. Your nails digging into his back, not caring that you're leaving deep red marks along his muscular back. "Atsumu!" You screamed in a moan, your body shaking violently. Your eyes rolled backward, your walls clenching along his member. He followed you right after, spewing curse words and your name into your neck. His warm cum coated your walls, making your body shudder more as he continued to give you sloppy thrusts before stopping. His body fell on top of yours in exhaustion, breathing heavily into your neck. Your leg that he held up flopped around his hips loosely. His arms snaked around your waist, nuzzling his nose into the crook of your neck. His eyes had fallen shut, ready to just sleep. You on the other hand, as much as you wanted to sleep, were not going to risk a yeast infection. You smacked his bicep hard, "Atsumu, pull out. I don't want a yeast infection." You had grumbled at the man, who only whined into your neck like a child.
You couldn't help but let a giggle slips your soft lips, shaking the memory away from your mind as you glanced at your boyfriend. Why couldn't he be that way more often? Whine like a child, kiss you with more love than ever before. Why did he have to be so degrading through the rest of the relationship? This made the giggles die fast, a sad smile now on your face. You love him. You love him. You kept thinking that repeatedly, telling yourself that it's not as bad as you think. He only flirts with other girls. He has never kissed another girl. He has never fucked another girl behind your back. That much, you know and you were okay with that. Your love for him was much stronger than you realized, and you hated that sometimes because you wished that you could hate him.
You were just desperate for affection.

hellooo! I'm interested in your take on this: in the star plasma arc when touji tells getou that he killed gojou.. getou does not react emotionally at all. like he just says "OK so I kill u heh" and thats it. It seems a little off to me compared to gojou who struggled so, so much with having to kill getou at some point and obviously thinking about getou's mortality. But in this scene getou seems so... Indifferent? What do you think about this?
Holaaaa 😆!
Hey anon, thanks for your patience. Quite honestly, to answer your question I had to go back and re-read the arc in question + I needed all three braincells in my brain firing on all cylinders + coffee.
Basically it took me a while to think through your ask. Also... listen, my brain works in mysterious ways. There’s absolutely no way I can give a short answer. I am dumb like that.
That said: What a great observation you make. I do believe Gege is very intentional in how he depicts his characters (from dialogue and design, to their cursed techniques), so you might be onto something there.
While I could be wrong, after doing “research” to answer your q, I see Geto as a complex character who experienced a traumatic event that ultimately led to him being true to himself. As a result, I believe we get to see his true colors:
Tumblr media
He has a sense of superiority that he is unaware of and looks down on non-sorcerers. Not to mention the power trip he’s in.
Or as you say: “indifference”.
But there is, of course, much more to it than that...
You know what's below the cut? Word vomit! 🤮 Took me a while, but words were vomited yes...
Since I am a word vomiter extraordinaire, feel free to skip to the very end for the TLDR summary.
Also, I haven’t properly brain rotted about Geto until your ask came through. Soooooo I may only scratch the surface of his character and his character arc in attempting to answer your question.
Not to mention that my interpretation will inevitably be influenced by my own subjective experience. After all, the only one with the objective truth about the characters in JJK is none other than Gege. The rest of us in fandom are left to experience JJK through the lens of our own subjective life experience.
OK! All three braincells firing on all cylinders! Woo!
Onto the fun part!
The Shonen Power Duo trope
As always, bear with me while I go off in an odd tangent, I promise it will pay off...
Tumblr media
Not sure how long you’ve been watching or reading Shonen anime and manga but one of the most common tropes is that of “the Shonen Power Duo”.
In this trope, two characters with seemingly opposing personalities are paired together as rivals and/or allies:
- Geto and Gojo (Jujutsu Kaisen)
- Megumi and Yuji (Jujutsu Kaisen)
- Aki and Denji (Chainsaw Man)
- Kageyama and Hinata (Haikyu!)
- Sasuke and Naruto (Naruto)
- OF COURSE I JUST HAD TO MENTION Kurogane and Fai (Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle)
... the list goes on.
You get the point.
Also, notice the order in which I mentioned them: “Yin” (passive) character first, followed by “yang” (active) character.
That’s because in addition to having personalities that oppose each other and therefore balance each other out (yin + yang), another characteristic all of these power duos have in common is that these two characters in question are often presented as being the strongest two and are almost equal in power. As a result, either one or both of these two characters tend to see each other as rivals.
So for me, the simplest answer to your question is to say that Geto’s personality is the yin to Gojo’s yang. Sooo you can expect for them to have reactions that oppose one another in style and quite possibly psychology.
In other words, where Gojo’s personality is outwardly expressed (although he hides a more serious personality, he’s a bit of a trickster figure, he clowns around, is quite possibly extroverted)...
Tumblr media
Geto’s personality, on the other hand, is internally expressed (he’s seemingly more calm and collected).
Tumblr media
Ah! there you go, name has been confirmed. Don’t kill me but until your ask came through I couldn’t even remember his first name.
I am, OF COURSE, making a MASSIVE over-generalization about their personalities here. But if you boil the personality trope down to its core, Gojo’s outgoing personality (yang) and Geto’s more calm personality (yin) are the characteristics that define their character tropes at the most basic level.
But we love JJK precisely because characters are incredibly multidimensional, don’t we? And aside from that, personality is all surface-level “stuff”.
So yes, it could just be that their personalities are different and that’s why they had diametrically different reactions: Gojo outwardly expressing he cares a lot vs Geto appearing indifferent because he doesn’t outwardly express himself as much as Gojo does.
But again, that's just the face-value layer for the panel in question, and JJK is more of a multi-layered experience.
The thing is that the panel in question...
Tumblr media
...is the culmination of a long and drawn out process.
It is also the beginning of a chain of events that shook Geto to the core.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And I wonder whether it all started with this here moment...
Tumblr media
Geto Suguru, the irony of his character
So I never thought anything of Geto’s ears until I started writing this. But Geto’s elongated ears look to me like they are meant to make a statement about his character.
In Buddhism, elongated ears symbolize “making the conscious choice to reject the material world in favor of spiritual enlightenment.” They also symbolize “wisdom and compassion.”
But.... Why does a character who calls non-sorcerers monkeys (because he clearly looks down on them), and who wants to commit mass genocide, have Buddha ears as part of his character design--the symbol for wisdom, compassion and the pursuit of spiritual enlightenment?
Tumblr media
I may be missing the point here, but Geto’s way of thinking is not entirely compassionate.
I totally get that Geto came face to face with the injustices of the system he was a cog for. I also personally feel like his reaction to the events that “changed him” is totally and 300% understandable.
Tumblr media
Part of his tragedy was that he subjected himself to horrible experiences for the sake of a lie he was telling himself because he needed to find a reason to not feel the way he truly felt. More on this in a bit.
Tumblr media
Not to mention that in trying to protect Sorcerers from non-sorcerers, Geto is also showing us how much he cares.
For this reason, to be honest, I am having a hard time deciding whether he was compassionate before he was broken by the Jujutsu-scheme of things, or whether he was never compassionate to begin with. Hence why his reactions appear “indifferent” to you.
If he was a truly wise and compassionate being, his reaction to "non-sorcerers as monkeys” would have been one of trying to understand how their very human suffering creates the conditions for curses to be born from them. Instead, his reasoning is to kill them.
Consider that compassion is a state of being of the body-mind-soul, not a mental concept (but this is a can of worms for another day).
While I am not sure whether we can call Tsukumo Yuki compassionate, she is at least “trying to understand”.
OF COURSE I JUST HAD TO MENTION Compassion looks more like trying to understand another’s suffering and knowing you can never fully do so because you are not them.
Tumblr media
And yet you still feel for other’s pain, and try to understand because suffering is part of the shared human experience.
In fact, the character in the panel above, Sumeragi Subaru, has what I would call a pathological propensity for compassion. Subaru’s compassionate kindness won’t allow him to harm others and will bring that harm onto himself instead. I only share the panel to illustrate what a compassionate character REALLY thinks and behaves like.
But Geto has instead chosen to look down on the very same “monkeys” whom he thought he should be protecting.
Looking at Geto through this lens, I have to ask myself whether Geto has always looked down at “weakness in general” but had convinced himself to protect the weak/non-sorcerers because he was told that’s what Jujutsu Sorcerers do.
You could also argue that he looks down on non-sorcerers BECAUSE of what happened to him, and that his decision to commit mass genocide is based on his resentment.
Buuuuut, I strongly suspect he always felt a sense of superiority over non-sorcerers that he hid from others--including himself, hence why I say he was not true to himself and came to reveal his true colors towards the end of the arc.
Tumblr media
To which Yuki tells him:
Tumblr media
The idea that Geto had been resisting the feeling of looking down at non-sorcerers is implied by Yuki in the panel above. And since Geto went onto murderer an entire village (including his parents), we already know that he decided to be true to this feeling of looking down on non-sorcerers--he decided to be true to himself at last.
From my perspective, perhaps Geto came to believe that Jujutsu Sorcerers are spiritually evolved beings and therefore superior to humans, whom, again, he sees as no better off than monkeys.
Tumblr media
Myes yes I had tons of fun creating this graphic.
That said, it’s interesting to me that both Gojo and Geto use “Buddha” symbolism (Gojo quotes Buddha and Geto has elongated ears) because to me this speaks to their exalted state as spiritual beings.
But I feel that unlike Gojo, Geto is missing the point of what strength and following a “spiritual” path truly means.
Also, when I use the word “spiritual” I am not using it in the traditional sense of the word but in the JJK-sense of the word. Basically Jujutsu sorcerers use their “spiritual/psychic” powers to exorcise curses--in other words, they have conscious control of their “Cursed”/Psychic Energy.
Now, I get that Geto has “good” intentions for wanting to commit genocide. I actually sympathize with his rather twisted logic and somehow feel compassion for the suffering that brought this on for him. After all, a Jujutsu Sorcerer’s job is a massive exercise in futility in the grander scheme of things.
Tumblr media
All this said... Geto may have the symbolism of an enlightened being and be one of the strongest, but his fatal flaw, his greatest mistake, from my perspective, was both not being true and being true to himself.
Again, “only weak people apply reasoning and responsibility to Jujutsu.”
The panel in question
So, ALL OF THAT TO SAY that to me what you are seeing as a strange reaction: “ok then die”, is Geto perhaps reaching a tipping point in which he started to question if he truly felt like he should continue to follow the logic he had adopted--“Jujutsu sorcerers protect the weak”.
I personally think that while he convinced himself that “Jujutsu sorcerers protect the weak,” he did not necessarily feel that in his heart of hearts but became a cog to the system because it was what was expected of him. Duty and dharma are important concepts in Japanese society and Buddhism after all.
So when Toji, a “monkey,” shows up and declares he has killed Gojo, the Star Plasma vessel, and her caretaker, all people that Geto had come to care for, the only thing that made sense was to kill the monkey that should have been weaker than him.
Tumblr media
So here we have a tipping point. A defining moment in Geto’s character arc.
Geto made a quick decision: this monkey needs to die. There is no rhyme or reason for it, he simply needs to die.
In other words, I headcanon he chose not to follow the logic of “protecting the weak because he’s a Jujutsu Sorcerer” but rather followed his desire to kill “the monkey”, Toji.
Perhaps this is a moment in which Geto was finally true to himself. In turn, this moment led to him wondering how much he wanted to continue rejecting the feeling of looking down on non-sorcerers.
And like... good for him? There is nothing more freeing than being true to yourself unless you want to commit mass genocide then maybe you should probably seek help.
Now... remember how in the Shonen Power Duo trope the two characters in the duo have opposing personality traits?
Well, here’s when it comes into play.
Consider that the trope doesn’t just have to be about how their personalities  are opposites of one another, but rather it can also highlight how their internal characteristics and character arcs also oppose each other--i.e. what these character’s values and morals are, and what they believe in can also be opposites of one another.
Enter one of the beings with the strongest sense of self...
Tumblr media
Gojo Satoru, the strongest
The reason the Shonen Power Duo trope is important here is because it’s literally used to juxtapose how Gojo’s sense of self (ego/mind) and Geto’s sense of self has resulted in a gap in strength that cannot be bridged unless Geto overcomes his mental cages--applying reasoning to Jujutsu.
Tumblr media
In other words, Gojo is the strongest because of his sense of self. That is the paradox of the question from the panel above.
Gojo = strong sense of self, and in JJK strong sense of self = power.
Which inevitably means that Geto’s sense of self is not on the same level as Gojo’s.
The purpose of the Hidden Inventory/Star Plasma Arc was probably to show how their respective character arcs were affected differently by the trauma of their respective encounters with Toji.
Tumblr media
Which is why I dedicated so much word vomit towards explaining how I think Geto was lying to himself and was only true to himself when he decided to follow his instinct to kill Toji.
When it comes to ego, or sense of self, psychologically-speaking, a strong sense of self requires that you know yourself first and foremost. Which is no easy feat because the moment you THINK you understand your unconscious biases, another one comes up in your blind spot or shadow to be integrated into consciousness.
Such is the nature of ego and consciousness.
Geto seems to think he’s higher on the psychospiritual totem pole of evolution but he’s failed to realize the nature of ego and consciousness is such that he is caught in a mental cage of his own making (applying reasoning to Jujutsu) until he develops a sense of self based on self-understanding.
Unlike Geto (and his elongated Buddha ears) Gojo achieved such self-understanding or enlightenment. In fact, the kanji for his first name, Satoru, is the pictorial representation for the concept of enlightenment: 悟.
Gojo has seen what is beyond his ego/mind--infinity, and transcended himself.
Tumblr media
And yet, unlike Geto, as someone who experienced enlightenment, I headcanon that Gojo experiences true compassion for the suffering of mankind.
Think of it this way:
If Gojo doesn’t need a reason (or a logical train of thought) for not committing mass genocide, then why not just do it?
“The only ones who are able to transcend beyond merely strong are those with an overwhelming sense of self and a complete disregard for others.”
Tumblr media
After all, we’ve been told in more than one occasion that it’s not just a strong sense of self that equals power, but also that the most powerful sorcerers are those who disregard others.
I go into more detail about the trope that Gege is using here, "enlightenment does not always result in benevolent beings”, in my liveblog for chapter 181. Check it out if you’re interested because it’s a fascinating subject that is also present in Urobuchi Gen’s Puella Magi Madoka Magica and Psycho-Pass.
In JJK, Geto continues to apply reasoning (ego) to solve his problems, while Gojo has transcended reasoning and is in tune with a more cosmic consciousness--he’s become a Bodhisattva, a person who has reached enlightenment but chooses to remain Earthbound out of compassion in order to save suffering beings.
I mention this because this could explain why you felt like Gojo shows he cares a lot compared to Geto’s reactions. To me, Gojo not killing when he could easily do so shows he might be a highly compassionate being.
Again, Shonen Power Duo trope in action--two characters who are the yin to the other’s yang and viceversa.
TLDR
Tumblr media
Geto did not look disturbed because he did not really feel it in his bones that he should be protecting non-sorcerers. I really think he reasoned himself into believing he should protect the weak/non-sorcerers. After seeing how sorcerers were suffering because of non-sorcerers, he realized who his heart truly wished to protect and revealed his true colors.
Gojo, on the other hand, appears to be a Bodhisattva, a person who has reached enlightenment but chooses to remain Earthbound out of compassion in order to save suffering beings. Hence why his reactions reflect a much deeper level of “caring”.
Sorry anon who asked about Geto...
Right.
I am certifiably crazy.
I go in crazy tangents...
Tumblr media
And then I often wonder if I can explain things in simple terms but I’ve come to accept that this is how my mind works bahaha.
Like I said, there is nothing more cathartic and liberating than being true to yourself and accepting yourself as you are. Unless you want to commit mass-genocide, then please seek help.
Thank you for reading if you’ve made it this far.
To be frank this was a difficult ask for multiple reasons and I am choosing to say this because what I wrote here is my opinion--since you so kindly asked for it.
The main reason I struggled writing this was because part of the fandom does not like it when people have opinions about the “darker” side of the characters they love that they don’t agree with (I speak from experience *cough cough Dark Megumi*).
Let it be known that I have a soft spot and love for problematic characters who royally fuck up because there isn’t anything more human than making mistakes and learning from them.
Also, I hope I have not sounded like I know what I am talking about when it comes to Geto. I have strong opinions and I trust my conscience, but I know I can and have been wrong about certain details in the past.
The fact that I have to write this goes to show that this fandom is massive and different opinions abound.
The problem isn’t having a different opinion, but rather when people bully others over having a different opinion.
Also, I’d be a hypocrite if I did not admit that sometimes I read what others write and think “mmm you’re missing the point” or “this person shared a headcanon while thinking they’re being objective.”
But the truth is that what I have written here could very well be headcanon to others.
Tumblr media
In the spirit of one of the most beautiful lessons from JJK: let’s remember that other’s way of seeing things is right for them, and that doesn’t mean that ours isn’t.
So as always, take what I write with a grain of salt and exercise that sexy brain of yours by thinking critically about the word vomit you read in my blog.
I’ve done my best to remain objective. But as I shared in the beginning, there are limits to objectivity and the only one who truly knows without a shadow of a doubt what he wanted to portray in that panel is Gege.
ALL THAT SAID, thank you for trusting me with sharing my thoughts on the matter and thank you for your patience!
Sorry it took me so long to answer your ask anon who asked about Geto 😂.

Chapter Three: The Formidable Ally
Tumblr media
Summary: Shōyō Hinata loves volleyball! There is no doubt that all he really thinks about is volleyball. His sister, however, isn’t the same way. Sakura is ready to start her first year of high school at Karasuno with her twin brother and doesn’t really want to do anything, unlike Shōyō. Though she can’t help it when she gets dragged into the antics of the volleyball club.

SNEAKERS SQUEAKED ACROSS THE POLISHED GYM FLOOR as the newest members to the boy's volleyball club practiced with each other. Though by practice, it was really just Kageyama berating Shōyō every time he did something subpar. At this point, Sakura had gotten over listening to the king yell at her brother. She knew already that Shōyō might not be the best volleyball player, but he had raw athleticism and passion for it. While it annoyed her to listen to the boy, who she had found a large dislike for since last year, talk badly to her twin, Sakura didn't feel a need to shout at Kageyama for belittling Shōyō. Perhaps it's a good teaching style? After all, it usually takes a lot to instill a lesson in Shōyō for him to actually understand it. Maybe getting yelled at would speed up the process. Besides, it's always a hassle having to confront someone as temperamental as Kageyama.
"Damnit!" Kageyama shouted in frustration as Shōyō, once again, missed a receive and had dove flat on his face. "Stop dragging your feet, what happened to those reflexes you had? Get it together."
"All I've been doing is receives." Shōyō complained and jumped up, "Kageyama, we're running out of time I wanna jump around, I wanna do some spikes."
"Well, that's too bad!"
"That's enough!" Tanaka shouted at the younger boys, obviously annoyed with their behavior. Perhaps Endo was right the other day, having to help these two morons will definitely be trouble. "A word to the wise, Daichi's a nice guy most of the times but you will not like him when he's mad. Trust me."
The two chorused together at the reminder, "Yeah, we know."
"If he were to find out we were practicing early, I'm so dead. Not that I'm afraid of him or anything, of course not, that would be ridiculously ridiculous."
"Right," Sakura spoke up boredly from the sidelines. A small amount of amusement tainted her words as she smirked from her seat on the ground, "you totally don't sound scared at all."
Tanaka bristled slightly at her words but cleared his throat and ignored her, "Anyway, its probably for the best that we keep this little practice session a secret between the four of us."
Suddenly, the gym doors slid open abruptly as the grey-haired third-year from the team burst through, startling the other boys. Sakura flinched slightly but outwardly kept her composer at the older teen's entrance. "Aha, just as I suspected."
"Suga!" Tanaka exclaimed in surprise and worry.
Suga smiled widely, "Hey."
"How'd you know!?"
Suga chuckled at the second-year and started to put on his gym shoes, "Come on, something was obviously up. I mean why else would you offer to take the key to the gym when you always show up to practice at the last minute." Tanaka jumped at his words and slowly started to worry that he was in trouble with the vice-captain. Suga shook his head, knowing that they were worried about being caught. "Don't worry, I won't tell, your secret is safe with me. A clandestine crash course, pretty exciting."
The three boys sighed in relief knowing that Suga wasn't going to tell Daichi. Sakura snickered which caused the boys to stare at her with narrowed eyes, she obviously liked seeing them in distress. Shōyō seemed to be the only one who didn't find her amusement surprising or annoying. After all, he was pretty used to it at this point. Sakura just hid her laughter and amusement as they started to practice some more. What could she say, she liked seeing people in pain like this. She found it to be one of the most amusing things.
Tanaka and Kageyama paired up so the king could practice his setting with the outside hitter. Shōyō had been denied getting to hit any sets and instead had been paired with Suga to do some more receives. Shōyō was certainly getting frustrated that he couldn't do the one thing he had wanted since he first set foot in the gym.
Sakura wanted nothing more than to just head to class already. After all, she had nothing to do at this point. It's not like she was also a volleyball player who could practice with them. She served no purpose at the moment. Sakura would have left already if it wasn't for the fact that Shōyō had begged her to stay for "moral support". All she could do was grumble to herself on the sidelines as she fell victim to his puppy-dog eyes. Sakura could never really say no to her brother, especially not when it's about something he really cares about. So she was forced to just watch the four boys practice for a while.
Tanaka screamed as he jumped up in order to spike another ball over the net from Kageyama. Once he hit it over, he was pumped at his own powerful hits, "Whoo, I'm on fire!"
Shōyō was distracted by watching Tanaka's powerful spikes over the net. He watched in fascination and envy, why didn't he get to spike balls? Why was Kageyama so insistent that he didn't get any sets? Sure, working on his receives was important, and he should improve on them, but he should also get to practice his spikes! He was then brought back to his own task when he was hit in the head by a volleyball. Suga shook his head at the distracted boy, "Hey, you're not paying attention."
The orange-haired teen just ignored his upperclassman and shouted at the stubborn setter, "Hey, I wanna hit too. Throw me a bone here Kageyama." The setter turned to Shōyō with his ever-present scowl. "You're all about your sets aren't ya? Go ahead, send one over this way. Come on just one, for practice, please?"
There was a moment of silence as Kageyama pursed his lips at Shōyō before turning away from him, "No."
Shōyō, Tanaka, and Suga all blanched at his blunt answer. How could this guy be so cruel? To bluntly reject Shōyō's enthusiastic attempts to work on his volleyball skills. Did he dislike Shōyō that much!?
"Aw man, don't be like that!"
"Yeah, dude send him one," Tanaka agreed.
At the upperclassman's exclamations, Kageyama turned and spiked a ball straight at  Shōyō. The orange-haired boy was not ready to receive it, so the ball bounced off his forearm and flew over by Sakura. Said girl watched the interaction with narrowed eyes as her upper lip started to lift in a sneer. She caught the discarded volleyball and held it tightly in her hands, it almost looked like it was going to pop as her annoyance started to fester. The young setter shook his head, "I sent that one head-on, you receive to make a set and attack. Don't run your mouth if you can't follow through. I'll be sending all the sets to Tanaka during the match on Saturday. Leave all the attacking to him. You just do your best to not get in my way."
Anger started to bubble up inside of the small teen at Kageyama's dismissive behavior. He let out a breath, "Okay, fine, then as soon as I get good enough at receives will you at least throw a few sets to me too."
"I'll set to whoever I have to to win." He dramatically turned around to face Shōyō, "It's just, I highly doubt that person is going to be you."
"Watch your mouth," Tanaka grumbled at the blatant disrespect from the first-year.
Suga gasped, "How's he ever going to learn if you not going to set to him?"
Kageyama brushed off their reprimands and started to walk away, "It's almost seven, we should clean up."
"Oh, crap, hurry up! We can't leave any traces!" Tanaka shouted as he ran off to start hiding any signs that they had been there.
Suga also ran off with the same amount of panic, "We need to find a mop!"
Kageyama bent down to pick up one of the discarded volleyball to start cleaning up. His shoulders were tense like they always had been, as he seemed to scowl at nothing in particular. His back was still turned to the smaller volleyball player, who continued to glower. His anger simmered within him at the what Kageyama had said. Sakura, who has gathered all of her things, walked over to her brother and placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder to try and calm him down. Shōyō visibly relaxed but there was still a lingering wave of annoyance wafting off of him. She always had a way to calm him down just with her presence, most likely a twin thing.
Once Kageyama did stand up to put the balls away, he found himself being hit in the back of the head which nearly sent him to the ground. He clutched the back of his head and growled lowly at the fact that someone had decided to hit him. The angered setter spun around to see who wanted to face his wrath so much only to find Hinata's clone standing in front of her brother with a scowl.
Her thin lips were screwed so tightly into a frown, that it almost seemed like it would be stuck like that. Her right eye twitched slightly in anger while she glared at him. Kageyama almost had half the mind to shiver. Even though she was such a small girl, she was just as terrifying as a six-foot boy. "Asshole," she only said one word, but it was enough to keep Kageyama from saying anything else. With that, she grabbed her brother and started to get him to help clean up. Right now, all she wanted was to get away from that dick and head to class. She was starting to get a headache now.
---
"Wow, Hinata-chan!" Shimada marveled with sparkles in her eyes as she looked at the pictures on Sakura's camera. The pictures that Sakura had taken the other day of the boy's volleyball club had come out really well, apparently. They only needed a few edits to be made here or there, but other than that they were perfect for the yearbook or newspaper or anything else. Honestly, Shimada thought that they could be used for professional posters. "These look awesome!"
Sakura scratched her cheek slightly to hide the small hint of pink that spread up her ears, "Thanks." She was used to getting compliments, though they were mainly just from her family as she never really showed anyone else her pictures.
The two of them stood in the hallway outside of Shimada's classroom, which is where they agreed to meet up the other day. After all, Sakura wanted to show her senpai that she had already taken some pictures. To show that she was quite enthusiastic about being in the club, which she wouldn't say out loud.
"You've got a real talent here." Shimada complimented with a large toothy smile, "Especially, with these action shots, even I wouldn't be able to get shots like these!"
Sakura could feel the tips of her ears starting to turn a dark red, but she remained calm. "It's not that big of a deal..."
Shimada gaped at the girl, the seeming dismissal of her natural talent was disbelieving. "Are you kidding, I swear these could put on a bunch of posters or something!"
Her shiny eyes drifted off into space as she imagined seeing Sakura's pictures on a poster that could bring even more attention to the photography club. If people actually liked these, then they may be inspired to join the club! After all, as the president, Shimada is always looking for new members at any time.
Sakura watched her as the third-year mumbled to herself about the pictures. She slowly took her camera back from her senpai and eyed older girl wearily. "Well, I'll send you the pictures later, when I get home."
Shimada still stuck in her own fantasy about the club getting tons of new members, nodded her head absentmindedly. "Sure, sure."
"Alright," Sakura said putting the camera around her neck and turned to walk away with a lazy wave over her shoulder, "later."
She made her way through the third-year hallway and started to search for her brother who she was certain had found a space to practice. Eventually, she turned a corner and found the arrogant setter that she despised standing by the vending machine. He lazily sipped on a drink of milk while looking around the corner, seemingly trying to listen in on something and stay hidden. Sakura could hear her brother and Suga talking just around the corner. She knew that Shōyō wanted to practice some more during the break. He was adamant about fixing his receives in order to get Kageyama's approval to practice spikes.
Why he wanted his help was beyond her. The arrogant "King of the Court" has got to be the biggest assholes that Sakura has ever encountered. She could just set some for him if he asked, as she has done so in the past. Though she knew it was more than just practicing, it was teamwork. Kageyama and Shōyō had to work together now after they had vowed to beat each other when they next saw each other. Though they couldn't really do that if they were on the same high school team. So Sakura understood that Shōyō wanted to prove himself to Kageyama not only as a rival but as a teammate. In order to do that, he has to get Kageyama to set to him, at least once.
Shōyō was so determined to get this to work out, especially now that they had the match on Saturday. If anything, Sakura thought that he wanted to prove himself to Kageyama that he had improved, even if he couldn't use these new skills against the king. If it were her, Sakura probably would have given up at this point. She wouldn't go as far as Shōyō to prove herself. Another difference between the two of them.
"You know, it isn't nice to eavesdrop." Kageyama jumped slightly at the sudden voice and nearly spit out his milk. He turned to find the cold stare of the second half to the Hinata twins pointed at him. Sakura stared at him and clicked her tongue. "Listen, I know my brother can be a lot to handle, but you're not helping anyone by being a jackass."
"Hn," He grunted and took another sip of his milk. Her words didn't mean all that much to him, not really. All he wanted to do was ignore her just like he ignores her brother.
Sakura let out a long sigh and stared up at him with a tired and bored expression, "At least try to work with him. You are teammates after all." With that, she brushed passed him and walked around the corner to see Suga and Shōyō practicing. She was ready to just sit by the boys and watch them practice while enjoying her lunch.
All the while, Kageyama watched her go with narrowed eyes. However, there was a small flame that started to burn in them. He wasn't sure why she was trying so hard, considering she must know how stubborn he is, but she was definitely adamant about trying to get him to work well with Shōyō. It was almost admirable, to him. To stick up for her brother against him.
How the hell are those two idiots twins? Kageyama wondered to himself. After all, they seemed to be on the opposite ends of the spectrum from each other. Shōyō was overexcited while Sakura was unenthusiastic. Shōyō couldn't intimidate an elementary kid, but Sakura could strike fear into anyone's hearts, and he spoke from experience. They looked so similar to each other, yet acted nothing alike. Honestly, Kageyama was quite certain that he would actually get along with Sakura if it wasn't for the fact that she was related to the annoying ball of sunshine. He shrugged his shoulders at his thoughts and decided to head back to class. After hearing what Shōyō said to Suga and Sakura's words, he had a lot to ponder over.
---
The next practice for the volleyball club was pretty lackluster. After what had happened yesterday, today seemed to be kind of boring. The craziness that had happened with the first-years had definitely caused a stir within the team. Add in the fact that the team now also had their own photographer now, and the guys were pretty enthused about what the rest of the year would be like. Though since those two first-years had not been allowed to practice with them, and their photographer most likely wouldn't be at the practice today, it was probably going to be a boring day.
Suga and Tanaka let out a large yawn together. They were obviously tired after having to be at the gym early for the two first-year morons to practice. Though even if they wanted to try and hide that fact, their captain was quite observant, "You two look sleepier than usual."
The two jumped at Daichi's observation and spun around to face him with fake smiles. Hoping that they were able to keep their secret under wraps. "Uh, really?" Suga questioned wearily, "Maybe I've been studying too hard or something."
"I've been studying hard too," Tanaka joined in, which earned a pointed glare from Suga.
"It doesn't sound very convincing when you say it."
Tanaka glowered, "Eat it."
"Oya Oya," Endo slid over to the two and wrapped his arms around their shoulders. It seemed like he didn't know the term "personal space" at the moment. His sly blue eyes watched his two friends with a teasing spark in them. He overheard the conversation and knew that he had to butt in, as he usually does. Endo certainly couldn't miss any possible tidbit of gossip from anyone. "It looks like you two are hiding something, huh?"
"Excuse us." A different voice interrupted Endo's attempts to get the scoop over his friends' tired behavior.
"Oh, hey guys." The captain greeted the two new people who now stood in the doorway. The two of them were tall, like extremely tall. The tallest of the two was a blonde with black-rimmed glasses on his nose and headphones around his neck. The other was a boy with light brown hair and a light dusting of freckles on his cheekbones. The others marveled at the sheer size of the two boys and stared in awe. "These are the other new first-years. Normally, we'd wait till next week to start new members but since we have that match on Saturday, we're making an exception and bringing them in now."
"Nice to meet you," the two newbies said together as the brown-haired first-year bowed while the blond didn't.
Endo eyed the two of them closely. He sized them up, just like he did the other day with Kageyama and the Hinata twins. His blue eyes were sharp and observant as he watched the shorter of the two stood up from his bow. Now, Endo usually has a very good idea of a person after first meeting them.
The big, blond beanpole seemed to be the one to watch out for. He almost seemed a bit annoyed that he had to be there. Like he didn't like the fact that he even joined the team, which made no scense cause it was his choice. Though there was a certain kind of malice around him that Endo didn't like all that much. A bored arrogance that kind of reminded him of their new little paparazzi-chan. Though she wasn't arrogant in any way from what Endo saw, unlike Mr. Glasses.
The other boy seemed to be a meek kind of guy, to Endo. He wasn't much like the other first-year as he was shorter and had a light brush of freckles over his cheeks. Endo thought he looked like a nice guy, unlike the blond. Though he'd have to wait a while to figure out just what their deals were.
Either way, with this new set of first-years, Endo knew that they were all in for an interesting year. He smirked widely as his eyes sparkled dangerously. Endo couldn't wait to see what kind of drama pops up from all of this.
---
Sakura let out a tired pant as she put away her bike at home. Her and Shōyō had just arrived home after their long bike ride from school. It was extremely late and she was a little peeved off that she would have to stay up a bit later to do her homework. She really should have done it while she waited for her brother in the meeting room for the photography club. However, she ended up taking a nap there by accident.
It wasn't until Shimada had woken her up and told her that she was locking up the room that she finally went to meet up with her brother. Though once she found Shōyō and Kageyama, both of them seemed to be beyond exhausted and horribly annoyed by something. She didn't question it, as she didn't want to be dragged into whatever it was that angered them. The king especially seemed to be angered by something or other. Still, Sakura didn't care.
Though now that they were home, it seemed like she was going to end up involved anyway. As soon as they had gotten inside, greeted their mother and little sister, and went into their shared room to settle down before dinner, Shōyō had started to rant.
"Calm down, Shō," She said while plopping down on her bed. "You're going to give me a headache with your complaining."
Shōyō sighed heavily and jumped on his own bed after already talking extremely fast. He was just so heated after meeting Tsukishima and Yamaguchi. After what they said about Kageyama and how they dismissed him so easily. Though it was more Tsukishima than Yamaguchi, Shōyō would admit. Either way, it was still frustrating!
"I don't know why he would even say that!" He exclaimed in anger as his face started to turn red.
Sakura leaned up on her arms to face her brother, "Hold on, hold on. What did he say?" It wasn't like she cared all that much, but she knew that if he didn't rant about it, she would never hear the end of it. Better to just let him vent and then shut up about it than let his emotions bubble over.
"He said that Kageyama's nickname was from his team and not other people, and then he said that his team probably abandoned him and Kageyama got upset by it, and he called me short, and ignored me, and even said he'd throw the game on Saturday because he doesn't care!" Shōyō said all in one breath.
With all of that information to process, Sakura stared at her brother with wide eyes. She had no idea how he hadn't passed out from lack of oxygen after not breathing for that long. He was obviously upset by what that guy said, which was obvious from how he wouldn't sit still and he was rambling a lot.
She tilted her head back onto her bed in disinterest, "who was this again?"
"Tsukishima Kei and Yamaguchi Tadashi!"
She hummed in acknowledgment, she didn't recognize those names, so they must be in another class. Either way, she didn't care enough to really think about it. The more pressing matter on her mind was the home that she'd have to do in a few minutes. Besides, Shōyō has a tendency to over-exaggerate things. So for now, she'd take what he said with caution. These guys might not be as bad as he says, or they are, she didn't care. As long as they don't bother her, she has no opinion on them.
"Well, I want to get my work done, so should you." She lazily grabbed her school bag to take out her assignments for the night. If she got them done now, then all she had to do was eat and go to sleep.
"But—"
She cut him off and threw his own bag at him, effectively shutting him up and giving him a bruised face. "Worry about those guys later, you have homework."
Shōyō huffed at her but did as she said and started to pull out his work. There was no need to argue with her at all, especially over something like homework. She was always the one to focus on assignments and grades more than him. Sakura studied as much as she could to get the grades she got and did a very good job at it. She constantly encouraged Shōyō to focus on his schoolwork at times when he had been too obsessed with volleyball to do his homework. It's a good thing she did, or Shōyō definitely would have failed some of his classes. So he did as he was told begrudgingly, though he muttered under his breath every once in a while. Sakura just shook her head at him and started her own work.
---
Just like yesterday, Sakura was forced to wake up at the ungodly hours of the morning by Shōyō. He pestered her to get up as quickly as possible, eat a small breakfast, and mount their bikes to head to school. She was far more annoyed than the previous day since she got even less sleep than last night. A grumpy, sleepy Sakura was not a good Sakura. Nobody better mess with her today, or they're probably going to end up fearing for their lives.
Still, she went with him even if she complained all the way there. What kind of a sister would she be if she didn't go? This was for Shōyō's sake as he wanted her there for support. She could never deny something from her twin. He was probably her only weakness, honestly. Shōyō could most likely make her do anything if he flashed her his puppy-dog eyes for long enough.
Things were just about the same as yesterday. She still sat on the sidelines and watched Shōyō, Kageyama, Tanaka, and Suga practice together. Sakura will admit that she did take a small nap while she waited, which ultimately ended up with her being squished by Tanaka as he gushed about how cute she is... only to end up with a nice fist-sized bruise on his cheek after that.
Though now it was lunchtime, thankfully. Shōyō, once again, had met up with Suga to practice as much as he could, which left Sakura alone for the time being. Now, she would have gone to sit with them and munch on her food, but she wasn't up for it. Too tired from waking up so early for two days in a row had taken its toll on her. She's a growing girl who needs her sleep! A full night's sleep is always important, especially to Sakura.
So, here she was, sitting on the ground underneath a tree casually eating some rice. It was quite peaceful to be by herself. She should really do this more often. All her life, she's kept herself practically glued to Shōyō's side, as he did the same with her. They never strayed far from each other as they always calmed each other down if Sakura got too heated, or Shōyō got too enthusiastic. They knew how to control each other's emotions when they needed it. Their mother always said that they were inseparable since birth, which is true. Though she also encouraged the two of them to try and do things on their own. So, Sakura moved on to photography at the beginning of middle school to try to distance herself from Shōyō. Though no matter how much she tried, she really couldn't do it. Being separated from her twin for a long period of time always made her anxious in a way.
Though at this moment, for a short time, she was perfectly content without Shōyō. Just munching on some rice, lazily scrolling through the pictures that she has already taken, and enjoying the quiet.
Though the quiet didn't last as long as she would have liked.
“Hey, shorty," A snide voice said which caused Sakura to stiffen at the name-calling. "I thought you would be practicing non-stop, you seemed quite hell-bent the other day. Did you lose your determination already?”
“What?” The orange-haired teen turned around to glare up at the boy walking up to her.
Tsukishima's eyes widened a fraction as he realized his mistake. This certainly wasn’t Hinata. While they did have the same hair, small stature, and pale skin, she also was… well, a girl. Her feminine features were quite a dead give away of that, even if there weren’t many. Her cheeks were soft and round with wide brown eyes that were currently glaring up at the beanpole. Obviously, she wasn't that happy with being called "shorty".
Yamaguchi gaped, seeing that they mistook the girl for the spit-fire volleyball player. He flailed his arms, “Tsukki didn’t mean that! We thought you were someone else.” He sharply bowed down at a ninety-degree angle in apology. "So sorry!"
She crossed her arms over her chest and scowled, “hm?” She stared at the two with a calculating gaze. They were freakishly tall, compared to her. They made her look like a little kid with their height. She's used to being short but these guys were just making it ridiculous.
The one who was frantically apologizing had light brown hair and a multitude of freckles covering his cheeks. The other one was blond with glasses and headphones around his neck. The bored look in his eyes was something that was mirrored in her own. Well, at least she knows that she's had that same look before. As people have told her.
She narrowed her eyes, “how do you know nii-san?”
Neither of the giants were surprised that the girl in front of them was related to the annoying first-year. It would be especially weird if they weren't related because they were nearly identical. They didn't hear Hinata say that he had a sibling, let alone a younger sister, at the school or anything. Then again, they've only had the one interaction with him and it didn't include talking about family.
"W-we're in the volleyball club with him." Yamaguchi coughed and scratched at his blushing cheek. He glanced down at the girl and saw the bored glare she had on her face. If he had to be honest, she scared him just a little bit, and all she had done was ask a question. Scarily enough, it reminded him of his best friend. Oh boy, another Tsukishima?!
She pursed her lips and seemed to relax just a little bit. A small amount of tension washed away from her face, though she was still wasn't completely relaxed. She clicked her tongue and tilted her head, "Oh, I see. You're Tsukishima and Yamaguchi, right? The two other first-years on the team."
Yes, she had heard quite a bit about the two of them. Shōyō had ranted and raved about them last night even after she made him do his work and eat. It was quite easy to rile up Shōyō as he could be a bit sensitive and emotional about the littlest of things. That being said, usually, Sakura didn't take what he would say to heart, especially when they were about a person. However, she would make a bit of an exception at this moment. While Yamaguchi didn't look like much of a bad guy, Tsukishima was a bit of a different story.
The freakishly tall blonde stared down at her with narrowed eyes. He stood over her with a standoffish kind of attitude that she didn't really appreciate. Not only that, but he seemed to be entertained that he annoyed her. The lenses of his glasses gleamed slightly when the light hit it the right way, making him just a tad bit more intimidating. Though that didn't affect Sakura.
"Ah, Hinata didn't mention a sister," Tsukishima said.
Sakura rolled her eyes, "pretty sure it was because you were too busy berating the king and underestimating my brother."
Tsukishima eyed her for how she referred to Kageyama as his volleyball nickname and the distaste that coated her tongue. Someone else who didn't like the King? It's to be expected considering how arrogant that kid can be. Still from what she said, it almost seemed like she was defending him. He scoffed, "I didn't think you would care about the king."
"I don't," Sakura eyed him lazily and turned back to her food. "I don't care what you say about him, I only care about you thinking less of my twin. You definitely riled him up yesterday." Her eyebrows scrunched up in distaste, "thanks for that, by the way, I had to listen to him complain about it all night."
The blond huffed, "whatever, I was only stating facts."
Sakura hummed, uninterested. She certainly wasn't going to rise to the bait that Tsukishima was trying to set out for her. Sakura knows what type of person he must be now, and she didn't appreciate it. He was the type to enjoy discord and upsetting people to a certain degree. Putting people down must be his favorite pastime, she thought. Though, unlike Shōyō, she was uninterested in what he may have to say, "Sure, sure. Now, can you two leave me alone, I was enjoying my lunch until now."
Yamaguchi nodded his head frantically, seemingly wanting to not upset her since having mistaken her for her brother. "Yeah, sure thing Hinata-chan!" He started to push Tsukishima back in the direction that they had come from. Yamaguchi definitely didn't want his best friend to end up upsetting another person. He's used to Tsukishima's abrasive and blunt personality by now, though he knew that he liked to be mean to others. Yet upsetting Hinata-kun's younger sister was probably not going to be a good idea. Then Tsukishima would have both of the twins on his case, Yamaguchi was just trying to save him the trouble of having to deal with them.
She grunted as she heard the two of them start to walk away from her. Though she couldn't help herself from saying the last word, "Word to the wise, my brother is definitely going to give you a run for your money, beanpole." She glanced over her shoulder to stare up at him. Her bored, coffee-brown eyes bored into his sharp, golden ones as a small smirk lifted the edges of Sakura's lips. "Doesn't matter if you want to throw the game or not, he's not gonna leave you alone now."
With those last words, the two other first-years turned to leave. Leaving behind tension now residing between Sakura and Tsukishima. While Sakura was not going to let go of the fact that the blond had tried to belittle her brother, Tsukishima was annoyed that she was nothing like her brother. Sure, he didn't know that she was actually his sister instead of Hinata himself, but he would have hoped that she would be easy to rile up just like him. Yet all he got out of her was light scoffs and eye rolls. She was far more controlled and calm than her twin, that was for sure. Those twins were complete opposites of each other, and it kind of ticked him off. Though he didn't dwell on it for long as he would rather dismiss the girl entirely. No doubt in his mind, she'd just end up being another annoyance that he'll have to deal with.
---
The next few days were a blur for Sakura. She woke up with Shōyō for the rest of the week to go with him to his practices at the gym. Sakura had gotten better at waking up, but it still bothered her. She enjoyed her sleep immensely, she didn't like missing out on it. Though she still helped her brother when he needed it. She kept him focused on his school assignments when he was too distracted by practice, or even helping him at home with his receives. Shōyō's skills had improved a lot in the past few days thanks to the practices with Kageyama, Suga, Tanaka. No doubt, he'd be ready to get a set from the infamous king soon enough.
So now on a nice sunny Friday morning, Sakura watched as Kageyama spiked yet another ball at Shōyō. She and Suga had been watching both of them go back and forth with each other for a while now. Shōyō was throwing himself around the court to receive all of the hits. He had improved exceptionally since the beginning of the week, which both Kageyama and Suga noticed.
Tanaka then came in through the door, late as usual. He eyed the two boys who were practicing already. He walked over to Suga and Sakura with a quirked eyebrow. "Damn how long have those two been back and forth like that?"
Suga shrugged his shoulders, "Well, I got here like fifteen minutes ago, so."
"It's been nonstop? Wow!"
They watched as Shōyō fell down after hitting another ball back towards Kageyama. Despite showing signs of being completely exhausted, he was still willing to push himself to the limit. It was nothing new to Sakura, as she's seen it plenty of times from him. Sometimes, she wished she could be like him in that regard. To push herself even more to do something, to have that powerful amount of motivation and determination within her. Though it seemed like Shōyō was the twin to get all of that, while she was stuck with next to none.
"Everybody has their limits!" Kageyama suddenly shouted as he hit yet another powerful spike at Shōyō. He received it perfectly despite his forearms stinging so much as they turned a bright red from so many hits. "Let's take a break--"
"NOT YET!" Shōyō cut him off loudly, "No! It hasn't hit the floor!"
"Okay, fine." He exclaimed before hitting the ball again, only for it to go soaring over Shōyō instead of straight at him.
"That's brutal, can he hit that?" Tanaka asked loudly as Kageyama blanched at his force of habit.
"Hinata-kun has had amazing athletic ability since middle school," Suga said as they watched the small teen rush after the ball. He gained Tanaka and Sakura's attention, "But besides all that, he's got this insane thirst for victory that keeps him going."
"That's just how Nii-san is," Sakura spoke up from beside him, now drawing both of the older boy's attention to her. "He likes a challenge and will do anything to prove his worth." She clicked her tongue and rolled her eyes as she grumbled, "Plus, he's far too optimistic for his own good, honestly."
They watched as Shōyō pushed himself one step further and dove at the ball, successfully saving it from hitting the ground. "He did it!" Tanaka cheered as they watched him in shock, "Nice one, little man!"
Kageyama watched the ball come back towards him as he started to remember Shōyō's sheer determination. Not only that but Sakura's words about them being teammates now. Perhaps it wouldn't hurt to actually work with him. After all, it would be counter-intuitive for him to keep putting down his new teammate. So, Kageyama set a spike up from Shōyō to the surprise of just about everyone.
"Here we go!" Tanaka yelled.
Suga stared with wide eyes, "There it is, he finally set him one."
"Too bad," Tanaka said as they looked over to the panting Shōyō, "there's no way he's got enough strength to spike it down."
Though at the sight of an actual set, the biggest grin broke out on Shōyō's face. Sakura couldn't help herself but feel warm inside at the sight of her brother being so happy. Something as simple as a volleyball being set up from him to spike brought such joy to her twin, and in turn to her. All she ever wants is for Shōyō to be happy like this. They watched as Shōyō sprinted up to the net and jumped to a seemingly impossible height for someone like him and spike the ball to the other side of the net.
"I gotta hand it to him, the kid can jump." Suga marveled as Tanka stood in surprise at Shōyō's unrelenting athleticism.
"I can't believe he managed to hit that." Tanaka said in shock as they saw sparkles radiate off of the small teen, "Check out the stupid look on his face."
Suga started off in space as he started to think about when he and Shōyō had been practicing during breaks. "So I guess getting a set must be really important to the guy, huh? I suppose getting tosses from a setter is something we always took for granted."
Sakura shook her head as she reminisced about their time in middle school. The reminder that it was something amazing for Shōyō to actually get a setter to set him a ball. Since he never truly had someone to help him out, other than her. "Nii-san didn't have anyone to really set him for spikes. I did my best, but there's only so much I can do." She did her best to help Shōyō with setting him some spikes when they were in middle school. She wasn't the greatest setter, but she was decent enough to help him at least a little. Though she wasn't the most athletic when it came to helping him overall with volleyball. Still, for him, she did her best. A small smile made its way onto her face, one that neither Suga nor Tanaka thought she could possibly muster, "I'm glad he's finally got what he wanted; a team."
"Hey," Kageyama said while looking down at the tired teen who panted on the ground, "tomorrow we'll win."
Shōyō nodded his head firmly, "Yeah, tell me something I don't know!" His cheeks then inflated as his face started to turn green. All that exercise must have made him sick as he threw up all over the floor.
"Aw, that's sick!" Tanka screamed in disgust as Suga instantly started to run around to help Shōyō.
"Tanaka, get some water! Oh god, and a bucket, and some towels!"
Sakura walked over to her sick brother, making sure to avoid the mess, and patted him on the back. "You'll be fine, Shō."
---
Saturday was usually a day that Sakura used to sleep in, like most other people. Though today was different, as she had a feeling that most of her weekends were going to be. It was the day of the match between the first-years. Though at the moment, she watched as her brother started to sprint at full speed towards the gym.
Sakura rolled her eyes at Shōyō's behavior. Why he decided to try and race Kageyama to the gym was beyond her. All he'd do is tire himself out before the game. Literally, as soon as they had put the bikes down, he had taken off running once he saw that Kageyama was ahead of them. She had to hand it to her brother though, he was pretty fast.
There was still no way that she would run after him, so she strolled after them at a leisurely pace. She wouldn't have come to the game, as Shōyō even said that she could rest for the day. Sakura had argued that if she had to get up all week for him to practice, she was going to see how well he did at this match.
She finally walked up to the gym to find a glaring match between Kageyama, her brother, Yamaguchi, and Tsukishima. Sakura raised a delicate eyebrow at them and scoffed, "you guys are ridiculous." They're all on the same team after all. How were they suppose to work together if they had some petty disagreement with each other? She just lazily raised a hand at them in greeting, "Hi, Yamaguchi-san, beanpole."
Tsukishima looked over at the girl he wasn't exactly expecting to be there. After all, it was a match just between the team, so why would she be here? "Ah, if it isn't shorty number two."
"Hey, don't call her short!" Shōyō jumped to his little sister's defense like a good brother should.
"Calm down, Shō." Sakura just waved her hand dismissively, "He's just annoyed since he knows he'll lose this game." She took pride in seeing the small twitch in the blond's eyebrows as his golden irises sharpened dangerously.
Before Tsukishima could say anything else to the orange-haired girl, A different blond popped his head out of the gym door. "Aw look at that, you're all getting along so well!" Endo teased them all with a sly smile. He then caught sight of the only girl among the group and cheered happily, "Hinata-chan! Here to take even more pictures of me, huh?"
Sakura took a deep breath and disregarded the third-year as she walked through the group to enter the gym. She grunted at the older boy in greeting and didn't give him anything else to satisfy his ego. Today was definitely going to be a different Saturday for her.

It Takes Two (on a Tuesday)
Where I talk about some of my favorite duos from Haikyuu! Today's Terrific Two are Daichi and Suga!
Tumblr media
I couldn't not start with them as they have to be one of my favorite duos in this anime. They just balance each other out so well and they're strong in their own ways.
Daichi's strength is his presence and ability to lead. Sure part of it is him being Karasuno's captain but even off the court, he's a leader and someone you can always count on to give sound advice. He has an outwardly confident manner that really makes his team and others (Michimiya and Terushima) look up to him.
For Suga, it's his emotional intelligence and thoughtfulness. He's very easy-going and Suga is always able to flex to his team. Whether it's giving Kageyama advice or matching Nishinoya's energy, he can do it all. No one knows his team better than him. On top of that, he's always thinking about what they need to succeed like the hand signals or ensuring Kageyama and Hinata smoothed out their arguments.
These two really are the foundation of Karasuno. It wouldn't be Karasuno without either of them ❤️❤️

Similar to her older brother, Daina is born with black hair and sharp blue eyes that are covered with long lashes. She is described as a girl with unbeatable beauty and charming aura. She usually ties her hair up into a high ponytail or twin tails during club activities whilst leaving her fringe to flow in front of her forehead. During normal school hours, Daina will leave her hair free. Aside from her looks, Daina’s most notable feature is her height, having been tall since young and still growing in high school. Due to having been active and athletic, Daina’s body is quite toned, but she still managed to maintain the typical desired figure because of her foster sister, Miwa, and her relative, Suzue.
Because of her intensive training, Daina has several scars on her legs that she had grown insecure about. This resulted in her wearing covering her legs even at home, even in the summers. She wears reading glasses at home, and contact lenses in school and during training. If she stays up too late the previous night, she will go to school in her spectacles as well and will promptly change into her contact lenses, which acts as a digital device for her AI butler as well.
Overall, Daina's physical appearance is very captivating and attractive to many people around her, having been described as having a deadly beauty that seemed out of this world and every tiny gesture will gain onlookers to stare.
[Just think of Medea Solon if you would prefer :)]
Personality
Although Daina doesn’t look as stoic compared to her siblings, she is still known to be hard to approach due to how intimidating her height and looks are amongst her peers. She isn't the most outgoing or lenient individual. Because of her strict attitude and harsh disciplinary ways when it came to volleyball and inflexible when it came to training schedules, she was given the nickname “Wooden Ruler” in middle school. However, those brave enough to approach her will soon learn that she was actually kind and easy to converse as she doesn't get offended by much.
Daina is also a very observant person, being able to discern even Tobio, despite his lack of social and communication skills. Because of this, she is able to prick others with her words, knowing exactly what to say to get under their skin. Daina’s ability to use her words to get to people was one of the reasons she was chosen to be her middle school volleyball team captain.
Daina is also a very doting sister, and would spoil Tobio since young, and in turn, getting doted on by Miwa, despite not being blood related. Although not outwardly forward with praises, Daina spare no chances to compliment Tobio in order to boost his confidence and self-esteem when need be. After the incident in middle school, Daina would also scold her brother if he was getting too hard to get along as she didn't want Tobio to repeat the situation that traumatized him.
She also cares for her schoolmates and friends, wanting the best for them. If there is any conflict, she always tries to intervene and will personally seek them in private to comfort them to reduce misunderstanding and miscommunication.
However, Daina is capable of being heartless to those that wronged her or her loved ones, easily cutting them out of her life. As long as someone gets out of line in her eyes, she isn't afraid to call them out. She isn't particularly fond of people who had once crossed her, and will stop at nothing to make them uncomfortable.
Relationships
With Daisuke, Daina is very much obedient and would check up on him regularly. Although they did not grow up together after a certain age, they still keep in close contact and isn’t awkward with one another when they meet face to face during rare visits. Daisuke regularly sends souvenirs to Daina, even some famous volleyball player's autographs as well. He also sends gifts to the Kageyamas as a thank you for taking care of his sister. Daina is also worried about Daisuke's feeling of emptiness but is unsure of what to do as she felt a little empty as well.
Daina shares a close relationship with Suzue, and often update each other on their daily life. Suzue is also known to be Daina’s biggest fan when it came to volleyball, and will be very extravagant in showing her support, sometimes bringing a whole custom banner, much to Daina’s silent embarrassment.
Kikuko and Daina seem to cares for each other, and the former will visit Miyagi once a month to check up on Daina and the Kageyamas. She was also the one who fork out funds for to cover for Kageyama Kazuyo's funeral.
Daina and the Kageyamas share a good relationship, having took her in and looked after when she was still in elementary school. She is especially close with Tobio, since they are both closer in age and share a common love for volleyball. Many mistaken Daina as a Kageyama due to having the same black hair and blue eyes, but they never deny it because they truly saw Daina as part of their family.
With the Karasuno boy's team, Daina cares for them deeply and believes that they are capable of winning every match. With the girl's team, Daina has stopped communication with most of them aside from their ace and captain.

Daina is known for her agility and powerful spikes since middle school, and was prospected to become one of the top female volleyball players in Japan. She is described to be a high-calibre player and has a good grasp on all basics for every position on the court. Similarly to Tobio, Daina is able to play all positions, including setter and middle blocker, but she only played Wing Spiker and Libero in official matches. Daina is not picky about the position she is assigned, and understands that every position is needed to win and plays her best. When in middle school, her coach decided to switch her to play wing spiker and honed her to be the team's ace. Because of this, these two positions became what Daina is known for in the media.
Skills
Spiking: Having been playing volleyball and practising as a Wing Spiker, Daina's spiking is accurate and mostly difficult to dig for most people by the time she begins to play as a starter member in middle school matches. She is most well known for her line shot, but is able to perform a cross spike, although she rarely uses it. As a first year in Karasuno, Daina is considered to have the deadliest spike amongst her teammates, even out beating the Ace. She is also the only one who was able to spike Tobio's “King Toss”, making her the first person to be able to keep up with her brother.
Digs/Receives: As a libero in her elementary team, Daina was praised for solid receives that she has been polishing them for years. Because of her quick respond time and agility, she is able to make quick saves and increase her team's defence even during high tension. Daina has saved multiple impossible spike as both a libero and wing spiker, and was awarded to be the best female spiker in Miyagi for her last tournament match in middle school.
Jump Serves: Daina's jump serve was taught by her coach. She practices it with Tooru and old coach Ukai occasionally, thus becoming a powerful asset in her routine. She has scored multiple service ace with her serves, giving her team a head start and gain momentum. Furthermore, she is said to have an aggressive serves that acts like a spike in order to gain a guarantee score
Endurance: Although Daina's stamina isn't the best in the beginning, she would purposely prolong a rally in order to tire her opponents if she needed to. As the captain, Daina is able to move her players accordingly to her rally play in order to reduce stamina wastage amongst her players whilst forcing the other team to scurry. This strategy isn't usually used due to how strenuous it can get, but it is something Daina is able to pull off without needing her coach to assist.
Court Awareness: Daina is very visually aware of her surroundings most of the time. As a libero, Daina makes sure to stay out of her spikers' ways and will always reposition herself for the next incoming attack. Even after playing as a Wing Spiker, she is still able to retain her acute awareness and maintain a wide visual range for the sake of her spikes and blocks. She has high concentration and focuses on her court from the start till the end of every game.
Love Language Stats
Daina's love language is physical touch as she believed one's actions always speak louder than words (words of affirmation). She loves to gift others, and spend quality time as well. Acts of service is the most basic of all forms of love language in Daina's eyes, however she still shows much appreciation to those actions as well.
Receiving:
Physical Touch: 5/5 Quality Time: 4/5 Gifting: 3/5 Act of Service: 4/5 Words of Affirmation: 3.5/5
Providing:
Physical Touch: 5/5 Quality Time: 4/5 Gifting: 4/5 Act of Service: 3/5 Words of Affirmation: 3/5

Tumblr media
꒰ atsumu ꒱
it was hard to imagine that miya atsumu, of all people, had times where he felt empty and alone. after all, he was so loud and outwardly confident. no one would've ever imagined he'd be crying on his bedroom floor after a rough loss in his favorite sport; asking you if he was even good enough to continue this career, if he was good enough for you. but this is reality, the vulnerable atsumu no one gets to see, except for you. you rub the mans back as he sobs into your neck, soothing him with sweet words and i love you's and kisses on his shoulder. "of course you're good enough, 'tsumu. you will always be good enough. one loss doesn't determine your worth." your words only make him cry harder, "and you'll always be good enough for me." you finish, pressing a kiss to his temple before you wipe his tears away. "you will always, always be good enough for me." you offer him a smile and he sniffles, slowly nodding his head to let you know he understands.
꒰ kageyama ꒱
you always knew kageyama to be hard on himself. he always had to be the first in everything, always so eager to win that gold medal and when he doesn't, it hits him hard. not that kageyama can't take a loss, because he can, it's the feeling that he didn't do well enough that gets him the most. the overwhelming feeling of trying and working so hard only to fail in the end. he tries not to let it show, but it's no surprise you can see right through him in the car ride home. "tobio, you know you did great today, right?" he tightens his grip on the steering wheel, unable to say anything in response. "i know you're feeling disappointed, but try to look at the good things that came from the game too, not only the loss. you all did very well and you worked hard. it just wasn't your time and that's okay. i'm still proud of you either way." though he doesn't say anything in response, the way he moves his hand from the steering wheel so he can hold onto yours tells you that he's thankful for the encouragement.
꒰ oikawa ꒱
if there's one thing oikawa is good at, it's keeping his composure even when he feels like breaking down and crying. even now, when he's shaking the other teams' hands he holds back tears, not daring to let his teammates, their opponents, or the fans in the stadium see him so vulnerable. its only when you both walk into your shared apartment he allows himself to be vulnerable. "we should have won that game. it's my fault" his voice breaks as he hangs his coat up. "tooru, you did all you could do, you can only carry your team so far." he faces you, "what's that supposed to mean?" "your teammates are talented, but it seemed like you were the only one really working out there. you can only do so much, they have to want it too. you did your job and you should be proud of yourself for that. i'm proud of you for all that you did on that court tonight, you never fail to impress me, tooru, really. you should be proud of yourself." he can't the tear the runs down his cheek as he engulfs you into the tightest hug you've ever shared, "i love you." he mumbles, words muffled into your shoulder, "i love you too, always."

Which of the haikyuu men would enjoy getting choked the most? And which one should would prefer choking? I love your writing hehe
ugh this ASK. also thank u sm lovely <333
warning; choking, breath play, degradation, humiliation
Tumblr media
HAIKYUU MEN THAT PREFER CHOKING
iwaizumi hajime
ugh first person that popped up in my head. loves to see his much larger hand wrapped so tight around your throat, gripping tightly enough to leave bruises. oh my god the bruises. just littering the sides of your neck. gorgeous. and he lives for both the feel of your breath hitching every time his hand comes around to choke you and how fucked out you always look. loves loves loves to choke you when in missionary, with your hips raised up, nearly bent in half as he leans over you. he keeps your upper body down with a tight hand around your throat— and the way you squirm so much and cry and beg for him,,, he’s a goner.
miya atsumu
this bitch fucking loves it. if he discovers it’s your kink somehow, he’ll do it out of the blue mid-sex to stun you, and it’s the most satisfying feeling ever for him: the way your eyes widen and the feel of you clenching tightly around him. he just thinks you look so so so pretty with a hand wrapped around your throat!! also loves to snake it down to play with your nipples and chest. just. he lives to overstimulate you in every possible way. his favorite way to choke you is when he’s hitting it from the back, and he just lifts you up (possibly by your hair) and keeps your back pressed to his chest with a hand around your throat. ugh so sexy of him <3
tsukishima kei
omg... loves to humiliate the shit out of you. “this gets you off? you like it when i’m rough? dirty, dirty.” he makes you feel so awful about it, but that’s only outwardly. he can’t help but adore how perfectly your throat rests in his hands, the way you lean so leniently into his touch, how responsive you are, how braindead you get from just that one action. loves to choke you when you’re sitting spread out between his legs, a mirror preferably before you, one hand between your legs, toying with you, the other wrapped gently around your throat. he doesn’t need to have a tight hold to keep you in check after all :)
suna rintarō
oh my god this man does it all the time, during sex or not. you’re just standing and chatting with him and he has a hand wrapped around your throat endearingly, nodding to your words lightly, the slightest smile or smirk on his face. does it in pictures all!!! the time!!! does it when he’s pulling you in for a kiss too!! but his favorite would have to be when you’re sitting all pretty on his lap, riding him just so perfectly, rolling and grinding and swiveling your hips, and his cock’s filling you up so well, and his hand just travels along your chest, up to the base of your throat, smoothing his thumb along your neck and then you throw your head back!!! what a sight !!!!!!!!!!
matsukawa issei
are you kidding me??????? are you kidding me?????? this man. this man. his fingers are so long and thick and his hands are so big, and his fingers are always, always adorned with silver and black rings. when i say he loves to choke you, i mean he loves you to choke you, and in every possible way too. he loves to do it as he’s fucking into you, just grabbing your neck, gripping your throat tightly and just forcing you to tilt your head back and consequently arching your back into him and he just goes, “atta girl,” or something like that. but !!! he also just ,,, he makes you choke on his fingers basically, and the rings he wears are always glistening with your spit and he’s always grinning so wildly when you cough and gag ugh
bokuto kōtarō
shit he loves it. LOVES IT. like grabbing your throat with both his hands and squeezing loves it. bokuto gets lost in his pleasure and seeing yours so easily that when it comes to choking, it’s instinctive. it always turns into breathplay and that led to a couple of ,,, not very nice incidents where you genuinely couldn’t breathe and had to wheeze out your safe word, but over time he started to get the hang of it!! and you in turn started to trust him more!! he just loves the sight and feel of pounding into you and bending you in half as he squeezes at your throat and derives you of oxygen. just that dependency on him. he lives for it.
konoha akinori
he teases, he teases so much. when he chokes you, it’s much more for show and for the idea of it than the actual action. like you get so obedient and fall so pliant for him the moment his hand just simply comes to rest around your throat that he never has to exert any strength into it. he just thinks you look so stunning like that, all for him. and he loves it when you personally grab his hand and bring it up to your neck, all bashful and shit it drives him insane he won’t be able to stop smirking at you ugh.
sugawara kōshi
this sadist shit knows what he’s doing when he chokes you, and the most infuriating part is he acts all innocent and clueless about it. if you ever ask him to choke you, he’ll pretend to not know shit as he brings his hand up around your throat, asking in a teasing voice with the cheekiest, most mischievous grin ever, “like this?” but he’s squeezing the sides of your throat so perfectly and resting his palm ever so gently and his hand fits so snug around your throat that there’s no way. there’s no way he doesn’t know what he’s doing. loves to talk shit and degrade the hell out of you in the most faux innocent way as he’s fucking you. just, “aw, poor baby wants me to be mean?”
HONORARY MENTIONS; daichi sawamura, semi eita, akaashi keiji, kuroo tetsurō, kyōtani kentarō, aran ojirō, sakusa kiyoomi, meian shūgo, (possibly) kita shinsuke, shirabu kenjirō, (sometimes) satori tendō, timeskip!hinata shōyō
Tumblr media
HAIKYUU MEN THAT PREFER GETTING CHOKED
miya osamu
hear me out. osamu loves when you ride him, like it might be one of his favorite positions ever. everything about it is so perfect to him. and although he’s naturally more dominant in bed, having your hand slither up to rest around his throat is so. electrifying to him. especially if you’re even slightly smaller than him, specifically your hands!! like there’s no way you can actually dominate him but— it still feels like he’s in power, but he’s completely putty in your hands too. idk just choke this man he needs it <3 and !!! and he loves loves loves it like shivers up his spine loves it when you’re kissing him and cupping the back of his neck then one hand comes around to wrap around his throat to pull away from the kiss and push his head to tilt a little to suck at his neck he’s just. wow.
oikawa tōru
he looks so, so, so fucking gorgeous with a hand wrapped around his throat. it doesn’t matter the position, he just always looks so good getting choked. like as he’s fucking into you from above, just grab him by his throat and pull him in for a searing kiss and he might just cum in that moment. or squeeze at his throat as you use it for leverage to bounce on his lap and watch his eyes roll to the back of his head. and !!! he’s huge on breathplay too (receiving and giving). he’s obsessed with how fuzzy his head gets from the lack of oxygen and always begs you to do it when he’s about to cum. he sounds and looks so fucking GORGEOUS pls im in love w him
kageyama tobio
i like mean kags, i like dominant, rough kags. but get this. shy kageyama. kageyama as a stuttering mess. kageyama who nearly cums in his pants when your hands wrap around his throat for the first time. i’d say that’s how he developed a choking kink, by letting you try it on him for the first few times. he fell in love with just. everything about it, from the feel to the concept itself, and eventually fell in love with the idea of choking you. but honestly, he much prefers your hands around his throat, even if he’s the one completely in control of everything.
hanamaki takahiro
he likes it because he’s a little shit that gets off of tormenting you. you’ll be choking him and he’s grinning up at you maniacally. he loves it of course; it genuinely does feel really good, both you squeezing so tight around him and your hands squeezing at his throat, but he loves annoying you about it even more. just grinning up at you the whole time as your ride him, or if he’s above you and your hands start to slip, he’s grabbing at your wrists and going, “ah, ah, ah,” like :| maybe you should kill him while you’re at it. but no he fucks harder when he’s getting choked so,,, maybe save the murder case for later
goshiki tsutomu
idk i just wanna make him cry. he probably does cry when he gets too sensitive, but anyways he loses all coherence the moment you wrap your hands around his throat. his entire body goes limp and you have to fuck yourself onto him. his eyes are rolling back, all dewy and pretty, and his tongue is slipping out slightly and he’s drooling and his eyes start to cross with his cheeks all pink and streaked with tears and he’s trembling beneath you. ugh he’s so cute, please choke him more often. he’s in love with it.
HONORARY MENTIONS; yamaguchi tadashi, kenma kozume (is very much a switch when it comes to choking though), lev haiba, koganegawa kanji
Tumblr media

you know a haikyuu boy has a crush on you when he...
ᴋᴇɴᴍᴀ ᴋᴏᴢᴜᴍᴇ — lets you push his boundaries for the better. kenma’s known to be stubborn, and hates getting out of routine for anyone. but for some reason, you’re the exception to that. it starts with the little things, like braiding his hair while he games. anyone who has known kenma knows he hates when someone touches his head while gaming. next thing he knows he’s trying out new things with you just because it’ll make you smile, and that makes kenma smile, for whatever reason. ᴛᴏʙɪᴏ ᴋᴀɢᴇʏᴀᴍᴀ — asks questions about you. since when has kageyama ever gotten out of his way to learn about someone else if it wasn’t related to volleyball in any way? he’s curious about you, and sometimes you feel like you’re in an interrogation rather than having a conversation, but it’s endearing how fascinated he is about every aspect of you. maybe now would be a good time to start dropping hints that these questions would be great to answer over dinner or a cup of coffee. ᴏɪᴋᴀᴡᴀ ᴛᴏᴏʀᴜ — always has an eye on you. he’ll try to look away when you start to feel someone staring but he’s not very good at hiding it. when he’s not on the court, oikawa can get pretty egotistical, but when you’re around you’re all he can think about. if it gets too overbearing iwaizumi will call him out on it, but have the time he doesn’t even realize he’s looking at you, you’re just that captivating to him. even in a crowd of adoring fans, he’ll look for you and only you in the stands. ᴀᴋᴀᴀsʜɪ ᴋᴇɪᴊɪ — writes notes to you in class. he’s a teacher’s pet, there’s no doubt about it. studies are first and foremost for akaashi. but when you whisper “psst” and pass him a scrap of paper how can he resist? your conversations back and forth making jokes about the teacher is what gets him through class now. he can’t tell if his heart is racing because you two almost got caught or if because you drew a little heart next to name in the piece of paper in his hand. ᴛsᴜᴋɪsʜɪᴍᴀ ᴋᴇɪ — shares things with you. he’d never outwardly admit it when someone calls him out on it, but he definitely has a soft spot for you when it comes to letting you in on spaces he likes to keep for himself. people know better by now to ask tsukishima for something, so it would take you a bit to notice. whether that be one of his earbuds while he’s listening to music, or some of his food while he’s eating. though his words may seem harsh, his gestures tell you a whole different story about how he feels about you. ɴɪsʜɪɴᴏʏᴀ ʏᴜᴜ — is uncharacteristically quiet around you. nishinoya has always got something to say. it’s not that he’s at a loss of words, since given the right moment he could go on about you for hours, he just doesn’t want to miss anything about you. he’s extremely attentative, but usually has trouble making eye contact with you. at first you think he might hate you, but if you confront him about it and he turns into a bumbling mess about how awesome you are, hopefully you realize that he likes you a lot more than you knew ɪᴡᴀɪᴢᴜᴍɪ ʜᴀᴊɪᴍᴇ — always goes out of his way to walk with you. it’s difficult to spend quality time with someone you like, especially with school and volleyball. though, he’ll always accompany you to your classes, mentioning that it’s no problem at all despite overhearing that his classes are all the way across campus. he likes to make the most out of the few moments he spends with you, and he looks forward to the mondays he’s not at practice to walk you home and make sure you’re safe. ʙᴏᴋᴜᴛᴏ ᴋᴏᴛᴀʀᴏᴜ — wants to make you smile whenever he’s around. he will go through extreme lengths just to make you laugh. from praising you to cracking jokes, bokuto isn’t satisfied with himself until he could get a genuine smile out of you. when he does, he feels like he’s on top of the world, and it’s pretty painfully obvious how much he loves to see you happy. why would he want to hide that fact, after all? ᴋᴜʀᴏᴏ ᴛᴇᴛsᴜʀᴏᴜ — knows your favorite things like the back of his hand. he’ll leave a snack you mentioned once that you liked on your desk every morning. he’ll hand you a drink from the vending machine before you could even say you’re thirsty. he’ll always ask if he’s right, but the smirk on his face means he knows he is. it’s not entirely intentional, but he wants to let it be known that he’d make an amazing boyfriend should you feel the same about him.
sᴜɢᴀᴡᴀʀᴀ ᴋᴏsʜɪ  — stays up late for you. sugawara usually likes to get a full night’s sleep, but if you’re up at asscrack hours texting him to ask if he’s up, you’ll get a text back saying “of course! what’s up?” within 5 minutes and won’t bat an eye till he knows you’ve fallen asleep. you start to realize something is definitely up when the next school day comes around and the boy is BEATT. text him to ask if he’s okay and you may just put together that he has a special ringtone just for you.
a/n: i hope these are okay! i was definitely inspired by the format of haikyuu boys’ toxic traits (by haik-choo) and them falling in love by (by ahtsumu). i really enjoyed writing this, even if some of them might be ooc. i’m a new acc, so if you’d like to send requests my way thatd be amazing <3

their s/o gets a lip ring
Tumblr media
characters: kageyama + kenma + kuroo + tsukki + (gn!reader)
request: hi omg ur writing is literally god tier,, can I request suggestive/nsfw hcs with kenma, kuroo, kageyama, and tsukki with a s/o w a lip ring 👀 like their reactions and them just being like generally obsessed w it mayb a lil flustered 🖤 ty ily • by @simp-alert
warnings: a bit of suggestive tings
notes: i did their initial reactions  <3 i’m not too sure about lip ring “etiquette” tho so some things may be wrong skjdfghs
Tumblr media
kageyama:
his eyes would widen as soon as he notices your lip ring
it’s the first thing he notices when he sees you, since his eyes always drift to your lips
(he likes them a lot)
you’d walk up to him and smile and he’d just stare at your lips, mouth open for a few seconds before he remembers how to speak
“you––” he gestured to his lips, eyes still staring, unblinking. “you got––that’s new.”
you laughed and his eyes finally trailed up to yours. “yeah i did.” you tilted your head up so he could see more clearly, “do you like it?”
he nodded immediately, his hand making it’s way towards your face before he paused, eyes wide. “can i––”
you smiled, “yeah.”
gently, his hand came up to rest on your cheek and his thumb passed over your lip every so slightly, you could barely feel it. “does it hurt?” he practically whispered and you shook your head.
“well a little.” he pulled away immediately in fear of hurting you and you grabbed his hand to reassure him. “but as long as i don’t pull on it or move it really, it’s fine.”
he nodded, interlocking his fingers with yours. “so i should wait for it to heal before kissing you then...” he was staring at the ring intently, seemingly fighting his urge to press his lips against yours the way he wanted to. he wanted to know what it felt like against his lips, his tongue, along with other parts of his body...
you nodded, “since i got it a few hours ago, it’s still sensitive.”
he swallowed and nodded too, tearing his eyes away from your lips to help himself calm down. “okay.”
taking note of his reaction, you smirked to yourself, “don’t worry tobi, soon enough you’ll be able to kiss me.” you put a hand on his cheek and pulled him close so that your lips were almost grazing, “and you’ll be able to feel my lips all over you too.”
he pulled away and cleared his throat, subtly tugging his pants.
it was going to be really hard for him to control himself, especially if you kept being a tease like this.
Tumblr media
kenma:
you’d gotten it on a whim one day literally before stopping by kenma’s house since you’d been thinking about getting it for a while and you got the courage to do it randomly
he knew you wanted to get one but you didn’t tell him or anyone that you were actually getting it
when you got to his house, you opened the door with the key he’d given you so he didn’t see you until you walked into his room
at first he didn’t notice it cause he was playing a game and he only briefly glanced at you
but you could tell when he realized because he stiffened and his eyes widened and you could sense that his focus wasn’t completely on the game anymore
you were about to sit on the bed when kenma turned around in his desk chair to look at you, eyes observing your face as they widened slightly. “you got it.”
you nodded, an excited smile spreading on your face as he smiled back.
he opened his arms signaling for you to come and sit on him and you did just that, wrapping your arms around his neck as you looked down at him. “did it hurt?”
you tilted your head from side to side, “not too bad.”
he nodded, his eyes locked in on the jewelry as he licked his lips, seemingly deep in thought. he shuffled under you a bit, his hands finding their way under your sweatshirt to grip your waist and you smirked.
“you really like it, don’t you?”
his eyes widened slightly and a light blush appeared on his cheeks before he blinked and tried to act casual. he looked down for a moment, “i mean...it looks really good on you.” he looked back into your eyes and now it was your turn to be flustered, the glint in his irises making your heart flutter. he put a hand on your cheek and stroked it gently with his thumb, “and i can’t help but think about how it’ll feel when you’re putting that mouth to good use.”
when he noticed how speechless you’d become he smirked to himself and turned back around to face his computer, pulling you closer with one arm and kissing your cheek gently. “you’re cute.”
Tumblr media
kuroo:
kuroo was very persistent and insisted on going with you to get your piercing done
“come on kitten, you think i’m gonna let you go alone?”
so there’s that
he held your hand while you were getting it done, cracking jokes and kissing your cheek before moving to the side so the piercer could have space to work
his eyes never left your face and he squeezed your hand in reassurance, kissing the back of it when you flinched from the pain
of course, he paid as well before you could even get your wallet out
by the time you got home, you lasted about two minutes before you were lying down on the bed, kuroo hovering above you
you looked up at him curiously and noticed his eyes were focused on the lip ring, a smirk on his face. “you know getting that was probably one of your best ideas, kitten.” he practically purred to you and you felt a familiar heat spread through your body.
you blinked up at him, your voice small. “yeah?”
he nodded, “yeah. you have no idea what it’s doing to me.” he grinded onto you and you gasped softly at the feeling of his bulge, he really wasn’t exaggerating.
“i think i have some idea,” you said softly and he looked into your eyes, his smirk widening.
he leaned in so that his lips were grazing yours, before swerving his head to the side subtly to whisper in your ear. “i know you’re still sensitive, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have some fun, right?”
he kissed your cheek and slid down your body, his hands trailing up to the waistband of your pants. “your mouth may be off limits...but mine isn’t.”
Tumblr media
tsukishima:
you didn’t tell tsukki you were getting your lip pierced cause you wanted it to be a surprise
he didn’t react to things outwardly often
but you wanted to see if this would get you a reaction to remember
you were hanging out with him at your place and you were anxious for him to arrive
when he got there, he came in (since u left the door unlocked for him) and said hi as he went to the kitchen to put the food he got for you two down on the counter
you were sitting on the couch so he couldn’t really see you too clearly
it’s only when you made your way to the kitchen that he noticed
he raised a brow, “you coming to eat or what? i didn’t buy all this for it to just sit here.” his voice was serious but you could hear the humor and sarcasm hidden in his tone––it was his love language.
you laughed and got up, “i’m coming, i’m coming––”
you leaned up to kiss him on the cheek, well, really tap him lightly with your cheek since your lip was just pierced earlier and his brows furrowed immediately.
he turned to you, but you were pretending to focus on the containers of food you were opening. “what was––” he paused, his mouth suddenly dry and you hid your smile as you looked up at him, seemingly oblivious.
“what’s wrong?”
his eyes were wide and his lips were parted but he said nothing for a few seconds. “uh––” he pushed his glasses up. “you didn’t tell me you were getting that.”
you smiled, “surprise.”
his face shifted back to its neutral state but you could tell he was still processing things.
you blinked up at him innocently, “so what do you think?”
he noticed the teasing tone in your voice and the glint in your eyes and suddenly his eyes seemed a little more mischievous.
“i’m thinking that i can’t wait until it heals.”
you tilted your head in confusion, “why?”
he smirked and leaned down to look you directly in the eyes before trailing his gaze down to your lips and back up, “i’m sure you can figure it out.”
