General Chrollo Headcanons!

I will be making a separate post for my romantic/relationship headcanons of him! I’m a bit nervous because I know I’m in the minority with some of my views however I’m up for making a second part to this as this definitely isn’t all, or even expanding on certain things if anyone’s interest. My request box is always open ✨

✥ Chrollo has Autism Spectrum Disorder. Aside from his childhood trauma, this can also affect his ability to identify and express his emotions. He’s also a master of masking, but if he’s out and overwhelmed, he’s definitely stimming with his fingers when he places his hands in his pockets.

✥ Chrollo Lucilfer and “Boss” started off as two different identities. Being the Head of the Phantom Troupe was merely another role however over the years, Chrollo started to lose his individuality. He’s gotten lost in the idea of being a villain that being himself sometimes feels foreign, or he might not recognize it when that side of him comes out. It wasn’t just Sarasa that died that day, but a piece of himself as well.

✥ Chrollo himself is a bit childish. He gets a small glint of genuine joy in his eyes when he’s talking about something he’s passionate about. Whether it’s a book series, the Power Cleaners, or certain species of arachnid. Seeing that side of him truly is something as it only comes out when he’s completely comfortable.

✥ On the other hand of that not, when he’s upset this also leads to him being pretty impulsive and making rather rash decisions. Chrollo is a master strategist but that can fall apart when pushed enough.

✥ Chrollo hums to himself when there’s a toon he’s fond of playing. Most times it’s subconsciously and he doesn’t even catch himself doing so unless it’s pointed out to him.

✥ This man hates crowds of people. Not being able to keep track of what everyone’s doing, the heat, the smell- It’s completely awful to him. It’s more overwhelming than most heists and if not on a job he will avoid them at all costs.

✥ Chrollo is very comfortable in his gender as a cis man but often indulges in things that are stereotypically feminine. Make up, painting his nails, even sporting a bit of women’s garments into his every day style.

✥ The Troupe as a whole is a found family of sorts, but Chrollo holds a particular closeness with the original members. The Spider he was closest with overall being Pakunoda.

✥ Given what we know about Nen, I believe Chrollo was born as a natural conjuror. Though with him changing as a person and honing his Nen for those three years, his aura adapted to specialization.

✥ Chrollo’s ethnicity is Japanese Italian. A true wasian man if I do say so myself. Though I feel he’s a bit more in touch with his Japanese heritage.

✥ He returns a lot to Meteor City outside of his Troupe affairs. He’s somewhat famous there and you bet there’s kids running up to him, gently tugging at his coat asking him to tell them about his “adventures”. Chrollo of course does so on his free time, sharing stories of their heists though somewhat spinning it to paint them as heroes akin to the Power Cleaners.

✥ Chrollo doesn’t kill innocent people unless they’re accidentally caught in the crossfire or truly it’s necessary like how he used the crowd in his fight with Hisoka.

✥ Chrollo suffers from insomnia due to being plagued by night terrors though aside from that he can honestly fall asleep anywhere if tired enough. It doesn’t matter if it’s the hair ground of the forest or a nice bed, he’ll make due.

✥ Of course if given a bed, you will definitely catch this man hugging/cuddling his pillow. And he definitely prefers to be completely smothered in blankets and pillows to feel like he’s been held. (I’ll say it now, he’s a little spoon)

✥ Chrollo is definitely a light weight when it comes to alcohol. He’s buzzed on two cheap beers so he’s always careful to restrain himself in that regard.

✥ He is a S class NERD. Chrollo will shame movie or show adaptations for their inaccuracies to their book counterparts. If someone brings up an obscure topic that he just so happened to read about, he’s making his knowledge known.

✥ Pretty much everyone is aware of Chrollo’s love for pudding but I’m here to say his love for sweets is endless. Cakes, ice cream, candies, chocolate- he literally can’t get enough. And bet your ass he’s suffered a deal of tooth pain during his younger years because of it. Though he’s good on his dental hygiene as an adult.

✥ Chrollo can naturally be quite competitive. Whether he’s playing chess or just entertaining a Troupe member’s game of hang man. He’s always going for the win.

✥ When he’s not masking, Chrollo’s genuine laugh is truly adorable. On the rare occasion he might even snort. (He’ll always deny that he did though)

✥ Being from Meteor City, Chrollo is on the most accepting and least judgmental people when it comes to LGBTQ, race, religion/culture, mental disorders, or any physical differences. He didn’t even know something like being gay or trans was looking down on in certain places of the world.

'Fanon is better than canon' Batfam stans are so transparent.Jason is a mentally ill man who shows all the ugliness that comes with brutal trauma,grew up poor,has a deep respect for women and is closest to the only black Batkid so ofc it's 'better' to erase his erase his symptoms and trauma responses because they're not pretty enough,make him a rich dudebro,have him be a stereotypical playboy who gives his female love interests backhanded compliments and insist that anyone BUT Duke is his favorite sibling to the point of bringing in non-DC characters because they're so desperate to replace him.Cass is a wasian girl who's butch and probably on the nonbinary spectrum,snarky even without talking,tougher than nails,has a hard time with her emotions and is brutal in fights so ofc it's 'better' to feminize her and take away her struggles with gender and all her massive amount of bite,make her soft uwu and sensitive,reduce her down to the Batboys' perfect therapist and prop and have her never hurt a fly

Tim is an autistic-coded teenage boy who's mom died when he was little and who's dad abuses him so he's a huge asshole in the same way most traumatized teenagers are and is canon bi so ofc it's 'better' to switch his autism traits for stereotypes,infantalize him instead of treating him like a person and having him own up to his faults so he can grow up in a healthy way and say he 'has a thing for blondes' in order to reduce his attraction down to apperances instead of personalities.Duke is a young black boy who's extremely troubled from his dystopia-like childhood and a rebel with impulsivity out the ass and a physical incapability to not run his mouth and has some of the coolest powers ever that he knows how to use well so ofc it's 'better' to write him like a fucking white boy,completely brush over all he's been through,turn him into a weak geeky softboy who's oh so scared by his much more interesting family's weirdness,have him be the 'token nice Batboy' and never EVER show his literal demigod heritage

Dick is a romani man who grew up too fast and is mean so often that it's as defining to him as his kindness is,has a darkskinned black woman as his soulmate who he's constantly talking about how much he loves and shows it just as much and is a multiple time SA victim who's triggered by being sexualized by strangers so ofc it's 'better' to exotify him even more than canon does,turn him into a doofus who's happy 24/7 and dosen't have a mean bone in his body,downplay his wife who's also one of his best friend's and has been since they met and replace her with your fave white girl or boy and transform him into a sex symbol to 'normalize casual sex' and 'for gender equality'

Stephanie is a young woman with an abusive father and a drug addict mother who always fought both emotionally and physically to keep herself kind and to do true justice,was a child genius,is super bubbly and femme and silly and unashamedly weird but also take no shit and has a huge mean streak and a hell of a punch instinct and acts like a mix between a big sister and a pseudo-mom to the kids she meets because she wants them to have the positive adult figure she didn't get to have so ofc it's 'better' to age her down to take away her agency,treat her like she's never been constantly mistreated and dosen't 'understand' childhood trauma,is just naturally the way she is instead of working her ass off for it,treat her like a dumbass,take away her all her nuance and feminist personality to make her just a quirky white girl and girlbossify her and pretend she's never been good with younger people and bullies them instead

Damian is a biracial brown boy who was raised as a weapon instead of a child,loves his mom despite her faults,has severe self-eestem problems in the sense that he both believes he's better than anyone else and that he'll never live up to their greatness,developed violence as a coping mechanism,can't socialize normally because he was never taught to and is very much a child so ofc it's 'better' to draw him with no features from his parent of color for your unfunny and overrated and overdone 'they all look the same!!!' jokes,make him hate his own mother who was the only person who gave him genuine love,call him a narcissist as an insult when it's an actual personality disorder which he most definitely is developing/will grow up to have and 'feral' for shit that Jason and Tim have pulled,transform his lack of social skills into him being emotionless and careless and treat him like he's grown either so you can bash him or simp for him

They say 'fanon is better than canon' because despite all the writings faults,the Batfam are still amazing and wonderful characters that so many minorities can easily relate to and see themselves in.And that dosen't sit right with them so they have to destroy all that to turn them into their perfect caricatures of what we're like and pass it off as 'happy family fluff'.It makes me sick to my fucking stomach

Plot holes in the lunar chronicles that I’ve noticed on my millionth read through that WILL NOT detract from my enjoyment:

1) Marissa Meyer does not know how freckles work

see Cress having freckles despite zero sun exposure (but ig probably the exact amount of vitamin D she’s supposed to get) aboard the satellite

2) Cinder is wasian/more generally mixed raced and Channary looks so similar to Cinder that Kai sees a portrait of her and thinks for a moment that it is Cinder… but Levana is… white?

I guess the logical conclusion is that levana is also wasian, but I feel as tho that is not the authorial intent bc that is white woman behavior if I’ve ever seen it

the other logical conclusion and the one I personally subscribe to is that Cinder’s father had Asian heritage, but Channary and Levana were white and Cinder just… westernizes/whitewashes herself a little when she uses her glamour…??? Like… to match westernized beauty standards?

idk neither answer is particularly satisfying but I feel as tho the series is thematically stronger if the former lunar queens who want to do colonization, genocide, and imperialism are white women.

3) Dr. Erland should’ve absolutely infected Cinder and Thorne in that tunnel based on the absolutely unhinged and unrealistic but pre-established rules of letamosis

They were in very close quarters for at least an hour as he was entering stage 2 or 3 of the disease. They should’ve all been fucked. (Not to mention how closely Erland interacted with Thorne when they went to the labs)

4)… shouldn’t Dr Erland have had a perfectly good letumosis antidote on him (or at least on the Rampion) yk, from when he stole it from the palace and fled the country???

'Fixing Jason story by giving him proper relathionships'......Hmmm,let me think over his canon relathionships as someone who's read every issue he's appeared in and watched all his animated adaptions and playthroughs of Lego DC games and Injustice

The other Batboy he's closest to and likes the best is Duke and their dynamic is respectful to both their characters.His canon love interests are Rose,Artemis and Dana and those romances were all healthy and consensual on all sides and had many cute and funny interactions.Stephanie and him are close friends that bonded over their similarities but had realistically paced development and bounce off eachother well with no romantic undertones to show platonic love between men and women.Him and Dick are on and off friendly and it makes sense considering their aligments but there's clearly brotherly love lingering from their Robin and Discowing days.His relathionship with Damian post-redemption arc is a great example of what very young little brother/way older big brother should be like.Talia is his mom figure and has been since his Robin days and the one bad scene between them has been decanonized and admitted as a mistake on the writer's part

Jason dosen't really have any relathionships outside of them-Him and Bruce are complex at best,Cass hates him and he knows better than to try her,Babs was too busy being Oracle to befriend him when he joined the Batfam,Tim and him being besties at any point in their timelines is widely ooc on both their parts and they've always disliked eachother for logical reasons considering their personalities and all those awful things og Rhato did to Roy and Kory have been rebooted.What is there to fix then?

Oh,i see the problem now!Duke and Dana are black,Rose is wasian with the asian part being a kind that isn't desirable for fetishization,Artemis Dick Damian and Talia are brown and Stephanie is a young girl/woman who's written as an actual person instead of just Jason's quirky sidekick or bimbo gf or tsundere gf.And that's just not right!Good male characters like Jason are supposed to be surrounded by other white people and women who aren't written beyond stereotypes and him being the token white boy in his own story just isn't right,that's not the traditional way!

i try to stay out of discourse these days but i do have some thoughts on BES lately. incoming, wasian cis woman opinion on mizu's gender and the idea of "mizu is actually canonically a trans man or nb"

up front, i'm not going to tell people to stop using certain pronouns for a fictional character. people are going to do what they want and playing with gender is a popular way to show love for a character or show. that said, with regards to ~canon~, i do believe the straightforward answer is the intended one, that mizu is intended to be a woman, because frankly if they intended the character to be trans or nb, BES would've been a lot clearer about it because BES is not a very subtle show—"a woman has a fixed number of paths."

mizu not being a woman would also mean that akemi is the only main female character in a show that is partly about women's subjugation and limitations in 17th century japan. and imo it would be uhhh weird and concerning at best to call a man or nb character a woman in the episode and show descriptions. (necessary disclaimer that these are westerners writing a story for westerners about women's rights in japan's 17th century, and we--or most of us, including me--are using modern western language to discuss it for lack of other vocabulary.)

i do frankly just like seeing fiction with women warriors. i admit mizu being a butch or androgynous woman slots in nicely with my wants so i have no desire to really question it, because i want to see more butch women as protagonists, and i'd like to reach a place where we don't challenge if someone is REALLY a woman because they dress or act like a man. yes, i do understand mizu is fictional. but hopefully you understand my point.

we can argue about who "needs" the representation more, gnc women or trans or nb folk, but i don't think it would be a productive use of time to argue a specific version of mizu would be "more/most progressive." an explicitly wasian woman in a leading show is already very exciting to me (the only other one i can think of at the moment is miraculous ladybug, which premiered ten years ago and has a very different target audience to say the least). i would welcome a wasian trans main character, and i would also certainly welcome trans or nb wasian discussion or interpretation on mizu specifically. i'm not going to say nobody other than wasians or wasian women can see themselves in mizu, but i think it's a fair thing to be put off by the folks who are, like. saying that "she/her" to describe mizu is misgendering.

so tldr i won't call he/him-ing and they/them-ing mizu wrong, because a fictional character doesn't exist to be offended by that, but i do expect the same courtesy and openness when folks want to talk about mizu's womanhood. because that is a critical theme of the show's core: that her ability to live openly as a woman has been denied to her.

YOO this is a good question im gonna rank and review all the brandon lee movies now just cause i can..

1: the crow.. for obvious reasons my whole blog is dedicated to it

2: rapid fire!!!! so this is my favorite brandon lee movie apart from the crow. brandon didn’t get the chance to do a whole lot of movies but this one was actually really good!!! the action was soooo amazing (he choreographed it of course it's amazing) and the story was compelling.. its just a great movie overall i feel like it’s one of those movies you’d watch with your dad randomly just a feel-good action movie thats nice to watch. brandon was sooo charismatic and my favorite fun fact about this movie is that in the love scene, the actress he was doing it with didn’t wanna show her butt cause she had only agreed to show her top half nude. so you know what brandon did? he suggested that they should just show his ass instead! so the ass that’s shown in that scene isn’t hers it’s actually his and i find that so silly and so nice of him to do… don’t ask me the amount of times i’ve replayed that scene.. then there’s also the fact that while filming the scene his toe was broken and he was in a lot of pain and she kept accidentally stepping on it LMAOO poor guy..

3: showdown in little tokyo, now this movie was certainly.. interesting!!!! the amount of naked women in the first half had me flabbergasted but it was a pretty entertaining movie.. brandons character was really silly but it was fun to see him fight and a lot of questionable things were going on in this movie but pretty good what can i say! brandon’s the comedic relief in this one and he plays this wasian guy that’s out of touch with his japanese side and he’s the police partner of this white guy thats SUPER in touch with japanese culture cause he grew up there and yea its a goofy comedy action movie

4: legacy of rage, this one was actually pretty good, i loved hearing and seeing brandon speak cantonese. the only version of the movie that was easy to find was the english dub but that sounded so goofy so i spent HOURS searching for one where it was only subtitled and not dubbed and by the time i finally found it i was so mad… then as i was watching it kept BUFFERING a million times and it took me i kid you not 3 hours to get to the 40 minute mark of the movie ohhhh my blood was boiling.. but then i found another wesbite and everything went smoothly from there on. anyways my review of the movie was that it was pretty good, but the action didn’t really start until the end, so it was kinda slow.. also there were so many funny scenes.. brandon (who’s character is also named brandon for… whatever reason??) ends up being framed for a murder cause his best friend wants to bang his gf… then while in prison all of a sudden a bunch of white guys (ONLY white guys even though they’re in hong kong) start attacking him verbally and a bald bulky one screams ‘’EITHER YOU KISS MY ASS OR CALL ME PAPA!!!!!!!!’’ HUH????? I WAS LAUGHING SO HARD WATCHING IT HELP then brandon flips him off with his middle finger and all of the white guys JUMP HIM and then he gets put in solitary confinement.. then the white guys attack him again and a bald guy with an oddly square shaped head attacks him but he does cool martial arts moves and wins the fight.. he attempts to escape prison but fails and lalalalala. meanwhile his best friend who wanted to bang his gf tries to attack his gf but shes like no and this random old man thats in love with her take her to brazil?? and shes pregnant with brandons child btw. and yea a lot of shit happens… the movie was certainly an experience!!!

5: laser mission, this movie……………….. i don’t have any words.. i have no idea what was going on in it like genuinely. i love brandon SO MUCH but i couldn’t sit through this movie without skipping every 5 seconds.. i think there’s a reason brandon never liked to talk about it and apparently even forgot he was in it at one point cause what even was that.. although brandon’s charisma shone through and was the movie’s only saving grace, the bad script really ruined everything. but of course i rated it 5 stars everywhere just for brandon!!!3<3<3<3<3<3<3

6: kung fu: the movie, i havent watched it cause im scared of bald brandon lee. maybe i will one day who knows!!!!

2. i actually got into the crow not that long ago… i’d say a little less than a month ago??? even though i haven’t known this movie for a long time my love for it is immense and i’ve rewatched it more times than i can count. how i found out about it was that i was just scrolling on pinterest a long time ago… as one does… and i come across this photo

and i’m like wwoooooaaaaaa… okay… wow… who’s this??? i do a little research and find out he’s from the crow, so i put that on my watchlist and the movie just sits there and rots along with a million other movies i’ve planned to watch but never gotten around to actually watching. then randomly one night i get this sudden urge to watch something and pick the crow out… and the rest is history!!!

3. this is a hard question… i have a ton of favorite movies from all different type of genres but one of them is.. despicable me. I KNOW IT’S SILLY but what can i say how can you NOT like minions? the storyline is also heartwarming and i love watching it with my little sister… another favorite is ‘’train to busan’’ it’s this korean zombie movie and it’s SO SCARY and SO GOOD and SO SAD it’s just amazing in every aspect… you really care for the characters and it makes me cry everytime i watch it.. another favorite of mine is ‘’grave of the fireflies’’. if you’re ever in a mood to cry your entire heart out and be depressed for at least a week this movie is for you. this is a studio ghibli film about japan in world war 2 and before i watched it i heard a ton about how sad it is but i never expected the SHEER AGONY i would be put through as i watched it. this movie is so so good but not for the faint of heart i assure you..
