Where you learn not to trust the hunter

Based off IDV

You knew that Jamil cunning if he wanted to. That's why when he stated he was being friendly, you were a bit suspicious. But nevertheless, you continued to decode while Jamil stood watching the you. What made you most uneasy was basement right next to you.

At some point, Emil had spotted you working on the cipher and hesitated. He was afraid of women, excluding Ada, and you were no exception. After fighting an internal battle, he reluctantly joined your cipher.

Honestly, he should have just left you. First, he was starting to miss calibrations because of your closeness. Second, Jamil was watching his every move, making your teammate even more nervous.

You moved slowly, as to not startle Emil, positioning yourself between the two men. Emil flinched and stood there for a moment, watching you. You continued to pay him no mind, hoping that he would feel less pressured.

Jamil's hand slipped on the staff he was holding, and it hit you in the leg, getting you down to half health. Emil missed another calibration, watching Jamil uncertainly. Before you could continue decoding after your shock recovery, Emil knelt down and began bandaging your leg. You sat down while he wiped the blood away. This was probably taking every bit of his courage.

With one swing Jamil terror-shocked Emil right into you. You struggled to push Emil off of you which gave Jamil time to incapacitate you as well.

"Sorry!" Both you and Emil murmured at once. Jamil quickly ballooned him and hopped down to basement. You, on the other hand, tried to crawl away as fast as you could. You began to suspect that the slip of the hand was done more on purpose than on accident.

With your heartbeat growing stronger, you realized that Jamil was coming for you. You cursed while trying to round a corner, doing anything to make his life more difficult. Jamil grabbed your leg and dragged you down to basement. You went limp and looked at the ceiling above. Let's just say it took some time for Jamil to get you on that chair. It was difficult to pick you up by the shoulders with your feet hanging low. The hunter glared at you, who blatantly ignored it.

Emil curiously watched your techniques and couldn't help but snigger at the frustration of the hunter. Jamil shot a withering gaze at your teammate and swung his staff at the chair as a warning. He then proceeded to chair you, finally succeeding.

You stared at Jamil, "I demand compensation!"

"For what," he snorted.

"You played fake-friendly," you shot back.

"I was just making my life easier."

"Still," you persisted, "you can't do that."

"Says who?"

"Me!" You glanced at the timer. Only a few seconds left.

"Your opinion is unneeded," Jamil waved.

"Emil," you addressed to your chaired partner, "at least we'll die together." You moved a hand out to him. Emil glanced at Jamil, then wiggled to take your outstretched hand.

Jamil scowled and broke the link, standing between the two chairs.

"Oh my goodness gracious, he's jealous," you cackled as your chair flew downwards.

"I am not!" Came the quick denial with pink cheeks.

When you and Emil spawned back in your seats in the waiting room, you smiled at him, "He was soo jealous."

I forgot to share Thedan a month ago so rejoice because I'm sharing both of them at the same time. I'm doing my first DTIYS os a promo for my high-fantasy-wester (with a slight D&D inspo) webcomic called Viper Hunters which you can read it in: Patreon.

Thedan is the main character, the elf bounty hunter looking for info to find his missing sister, while Sprout, the female kobold seer which will tag on the road.

I'm enjoying so much working on this comic and I'd love you could give it a chance.
