being smart makes u prettier !!
Tumblr media
If you’re somebody who’s not an active student rn, you’re on holiday, you want to become more smarter, looking for brain exercises before studying or you just want to be smarter without studying everyday this post is 4 u!!!!
READ!!!!!!!
This is crazy to me, the amount of people who don’t read is so high. You don’t even have to read a hard-copy book, just reading an article is literally enough to keep your brain exercising.
Some benefits i’ve noticed with reading consistently are my memory is literally boosted and my vocabulary is better. Though, i’ve only started reading every night like 2 months ago.
It does not need to be an educational or extensive literature book. Even some random book like an fantasy romance is gonna give you the same benefits.
Start writing whatever
This goes in pair with reading, but writing is literally the best brain exercise ever. Even if its journaling or some stupid short story, it all counts plus its really fun
One you begin writing, your mind just becomes less cluttered and you’re just less stressed. And its a perfect creative outlet for those who arent as artsy
Focus meditations
Before literally any task, whether its deep or shallow work but its still exerts your mental energy, do a focus meditation
Helped me become 10x productive and its so much easier to get into the flow of work
So important if you're an student or studying anything!!!
Download elevate!!
Its available on IOS but idk about androids
Basically it's an app where you can do three mental exercises each day, and it keeps track of your progress and gives you highlights after each session
It helps with mental maths, communication, eloquence and general writing!
Learning how to think on your own
It's crazy to me how much people rely on the internet. You do not need to scroll pinterest each time for outfit inspiration, searching up writing prompts each time you write or even ask the internet for personal advice
OR
When people are bored, so instead of just being bored they decide to consume a whole lot of content that is not nourishing the mind
Its definitely okay to do, but not always
So take a step back, and ask yourself, ‘could I really survive a day of doing tasks without once using any source of the internet?’ ‘is this media allowing my mind to flourish? Or is it killing it?’
Thinking by yourself is now such a valuable skill, if you don't have it, DEVELOP IT.
Randomly research everything
If u get curious about something don’t just let it float in your head, taking up mental space
Instead research it! Even the little things like an random flower, how are playgrounds manufactured, the history of beds or the most expensive pencil ever.
conservations are so easy 4 me now because i know a lot of random stuff that the usual person doesn't care about! It makes it so easy for you to stand out too

੭ु⁾ ⚜ dating kai parker
Tumblr media
❥ A/N : this is my new side blog, requests are opened so if u have some, ask away :) please reblog and comment if u enjoyed my content I need to see that the tvdu fandom is still there ! 👼🏻
Tumblr media
⚜. kai is a clingy ass mf. he spent 22 years deprived of any physical contact and he just has to be touching you in some way, whether it's wrapping an arm around your waist in public or watching TV with you on his lap.
⚜. he's very insecure because of his childhood, he feels like a failure and a burden so he requires lots of patience and reassurance. also he can act childish if he is asked not to be so clingy, he might get pouty, but after he calms down, he will apologise for overwhelming you.
⚜. he's giving his all to you, he never felt so in love with someone before and he would do everything it takes to keep you with him. he tries to show love as best as he can but he was never truly loved by his family himself. he takes inspiration from the romance books he read while he was bored in the prison world, which never fails to make you feel like a princess.
⚜. acts of service is his main love language, he cooks for you any chance he gets and he smiles to himself while doing so, thinking of your bright smile seeing he surprised you with dinner
⚜. he really is one to pay attention to the little details and bring them up. he didn't talk to anyone for 22 years, he's very chatty that's for sure but he is a great listener too and is fascinated by every details of your life. he wants to make you feel important, loved and respected.
⚜. he loves to embarrass you in front of your friends and especially Damon. he has no filter and spills details about you two to whoever is in the room. "Y/N won't move from their bed today, have you taken them drinking?" Damon asks Caroline and Elena. "No they weren't with us, I think she was with- " Caroline starts but gets interrupted by Kai : "They were with me. And as a matter of fact, they can't move for obvious reasons" he says, smirking. The absence of reaction from your friends caused him to keep going. " I railed them, obviously, " he adds, chuckling. "Oh come on don't look so shocked it's not like you never fucked anyone before, no one here is a virgin as far as i know, especially not Damon, this little whore".
⚜. his nicknames for you are soooo random because he flirts with you any given moment, there is "sweetheart, princess, pretty girl, gorgeous, my love, babe and little devil", ironically he loves calling you the latter whereas you are the angel of the two of you, his angel. that's his name for you in his phone by the way, because he really sees you as a guardian angel.
⚜. he is super expressive and his reactions are the sweetest. The moment he saw you dressed up or trying a new make-up look, his jaw would literally drop and turn into a chuckle. He would put his hands on his mouth, and his eyes would widen. "you are fucking gorgeous y/n. how did I get so lucky." he says and embraces you into a hug.
⚜. his favourite thing is when you teach him about the new things he never got ahold of. Like when you show him the latest horror movies, he gets fascinated by the special effects and smiles like a little kid, or when you download instagram for him. speaking of, he is not a big fan of social media, he thinks it’s supid and useless and it cuts you off from reality.
⚜. he is canonically very childish and gets excited over small things. like if you surprise him with a burger from the mystic grill, he’ll get all giddy and of course, eat it like a pig. you bought a small crumbs vacuum and forced him to use it so that the couch would not be constantly dirty with his pork rinds leftovers.

maybe it’s because I’m a newish follower but I haven’t seen your posts on zotero…. say more pls… how do u make use of it… what are your methods/systems to maintaining it or coming back to it? I’ve only heard of it mentioned once by a professor I admire (I asked how do u keep track of all the articles and texts lol) but then completely forgot to actually look into it.
>:) zotero is a free* and open-source citation manager, meaning it's designed to help you keep track of books, articles, podcasts, archival material, &c &c that you may be wading through for whatever reason. the basic structure is just a library of metadata: authors, publication info, and so forth. you can organise this into however many folders and subfolders as you might want, and (assuming you make sure the metadata are accurate) zotero also allows you to generate a bibliography from any of these folders with 1 click. also, it gives you a convenient notes function so that your notes are all attached to the material they correspond to (& are text-searchable), and when you use it as an app downloaded onto your computer (which you should), it automatically syncs with the web library, meaning your work is basically cloud-backed or whatever. you should also download the zotero web connector extension onto your browser; then, when you're looking at an article, book, or webpage online, you just click the extension and it'll let you put all of the metadata into your zotero library. i have no idea how people do large amounts of reading on any topic without a citation manager tbh. zotero.org to change your life forever
*u get a limited amount of storage for free, but the paid storage plans are at p reasonable rates (comes to 10 USD/month for unlimited, and if you upgrade in the middle of a yearly pay cycle they pro-rate it)

heyheyhey idk if u know how cool and important it is to have a badass assassin story with something other than cis gays and have it be Not a Big Deal but,,, it’s literally one of the first legit published books I’ve ever found like it?? And in a genre that I love??? And written well?? And genuinely funny as fuck?? Idk I’ve never seen an enby that gets to exist without it being A Tragic Plot Point or something To Overcome so thank u??? Like so much???? I can’t tell u how much???? I definitely didn’t cry at all about it nope not even once
:DDDDDD omg, my heart started pumping faster when I saw this ask. I am always so giddy when people talk to me about my books, especially the specifics about characters and tone and things they liked!
Yeah, I wanted to include every goddamn color in the pride flag!!
Pansexual/ bisexual assassins, nonbinary demons, a transgender assassin, an unrealistic number of gay and lesbian demon summoners! That's my fantasy world. It's not talked about, because it's simply normal.
Irvine in particular I adore because I am nonbinary myself, but also because they are just so powerful, and they don't even know just how much yet!
I always disliked how many nonbinary characters in fantasy and sci fi are just token "they/them" body guards, robotic or asexual leaning non-humans, or quiet, unassuming love interests who only exist to show a character is pansexual or something.
Irvine was my love letter to my own identity because I thought hey what if there was a nonbinary character who just fucks shit up, every time they appear? What if there was an enby who just kicks ass and is sexily never showing their face, and wears a badass hood all the time?
And then Irvine was born. My little storm demon :)
Also, I don't know if you ever saw the commissioned art, but I will post it in this ask for your viewing pleasure:
Tumblr media
so glad you love my child. my baby blorbo.
who i intend to put through the wringer, lemme tell you, because i like to put all my favorite characters through it.
So glad you find it unique too! I honestly was feeling so badly about it, after months of querying and beta swapping, and getting feedback from dozens of people who only found things to criticize as being too strange or too different or stylistically confusing.
I went through a year of being told it wasn't good, and-and I'm a little emotional and overcome with appreciation and gratitude to all the people who not only bought or downloaded the book while it was free, but who also actually read the whole thing, and found it GOOD.
Like people...think i...write well??? oh gosh. oh god.
chills.
The asks I get keep me going through this mundane, dull little world. They give me something to look forward to, in between the doldrums of normalcy...
They also validate me for thinking someone...someone out there must find this good...
Thanks for taking the time to send this ask :))) it means the world to me.
I save them all in my drafts so I can look at them when I'm sad...
Also, THANK YOU FOR NOTICING THAT THE BOOK IS FUNNY.
in between the angst and the action and the blood-filled fist fighting and crazy sniper/melee battles, there is a lot of dark comedy!
I love dark comedy. I love satire.
As much as I love being edgy, I think a story without any humor at all is unbearable.
I want you to hurt with my characters...but you should also laugh with them! Laugh at them! Be amused by their stupidity...or by their cleverness.
Be charmed by their vulnerability, but also their insane, abnormal, bizarre points of view!
AAAAH, I'm so glad you found it funny AND heart-breaking!
That is exactly what I want every story of mine to be.
Thank you thank you thank you for this ask!!
Link to referenced book here, for all the poor spectators who have to see me blubbering like a child.
Please leave a review on Amazon/Goodreads if you haven't already, but if you have, thank you for that too! Every review helps me out so much!

Would quater quell jk joined the rebellion like in the hunger games movie ?
first of all - omg I missed you! You always have such cool questions lol
Secondly, actually idk.
It's been established that QQ JK is a career, and it's implied in the books that careers are kind of brainwashed to believe that serving in the games is an honor. Districts 1, 2, and 4 also have good relationships with the capitol. I don't remember the exact order districts turned but I do believe 2 was one of the last districts to join the rebels.
I think if he's a victor, he would feel like he owes everything to the capitol. His home, his money, meeting and being with Y/n. He'd most likely be put on television as a victor speaking out against the rebellion. Sure, the president most likely commanded him to, but I don't think he'd be annoyed or anything. I can see victor JK looking at rebels like "what if u guys got a job ? unemployed behavior." lmao. I think MAYBE if Y/n was into the rebellion, then he'd reluctantly support it. But his protective ass would try really hard to talk her out of it bc he know the capitol would target them next.
Now if he was a tribute / pre games,
Well....I think JK would side with whoever is winning. he doesn't really have any principles other than "the strong should dominate the weak" For years the capitol was stronger than the districts, so he sees it as the natural way of things. now if the rebellion were to win and prove that they are stronger than the capitol, he'd accept that outcome. I do think he'd be slightly annoyed though at having to find a normal job, as QQ JK always wanted to play the games and live as a victor. so his first thought if the rebellion wins is like, "shit i gotta download indeed now"

Ok I have a little head-cannon that I'm going to put into my fanfic because it's my fanfic and I can do what I want. We don't see Caine's room, so I like to think he lives on the train cars of a circus train that travels the grounds. The Ringling bros. had a really spiffy one and think he would too, but more wacky. Maybe the interior of one of the cars would be more refined, who knows? Also I can't draw trains can u tell
Would you guys like a little sneak peak of the next chapter??? 👀
Ok here it is
Caine didn’t have a room like the rest of the cast. He had a small series of rooms, or train cars, that were constantly pulled along by a train that traveled the circus grounds. The interior of the car he was in was mainly the same shade of his magenta suit, with accents of black. The ground rocked subtly against the rumbling tracks as the over saturated scenery rushed by. The rumbling didn’t bother him, he preferred floating anyway. A selection of books sat on a pristine bookshelf, all with matching magenta covers. “Snow White” one book’s spine read. He picked it up and flipped to the first page. Best to know your source material before making any sort of adaptation. A circular icon appeared over the ringleader’s head. It spun in circles, static overtaking his usually multicolored eyes. A horizontal bar appeared above Caine. “LOADING CONTENT”. Every now and then, a page would turn on its own, and the horizontal bar would progress a little further.
Also, I don't think he "reads", I think he downloads content. This was the best way I could think of illustrating that 🌹

MASTER POST
Doctor Who Resource List. This post will serve as a resource list for as much Doctor Who stuff as I can find! Please send me links to more EU stuff if you have them.
What this masterpost is/Doctor Who different series etc explained below cut. Note: you have to click on the original post (so, not a reblogged version) of whichever masterpost you're looking at, or else the links won't work!
----
The 2005 (revival/NuWho) show:
The 1963-89 show (Classic Who):
The 1996 Movie:
Scream of the Shalka:
Scream of the Shalka books/texts:
Comics:
Books:
Short stories:
Big Finish Audios:
Spin-Offs:
Apparently you can only have like ten links per post so I'll need a Master Post Part Two. I apologise for the inconvenience, but will reblog this with Master Post Part Two, which will then go in my pinned post.
If you don’t know, Classic Who (1963-89) had many serials in each episode, with a few episodes per serial. For example, the first episode and first serial, “An Unearthly Child” had four parts (I have linked the first part on dailymotion in the classic who post). After the show was cancelled, there was a movie (1996), and then in 2003 there was an animated series (Scream of the Shalka), which was supposed to be the ‘new Doctor Who’, but then the live action reboot was announced and continued from 2005 until the present.
This made the Shalka series second-level canon (only kind of ‘true’ within the universe of Doctor Who. The fandom considers it an alternate universe basically). There are also many spin-off series, some of which I will link here, as well as official comics, novelisations, books, games, and the increasingly popular audio series with Big Finish (also linked here).
For the links that don’t have the full series in one place, I have linked the first episode, and then you can find the next episodes from there. If you have access to anything else Doctor Who related (like comics not here, for example) then send a link in my DM/as an ask, and I’ll add it in!
Anything that isn’t Classic Who (1963-89), the movie, or NuWho (2005-present) is considered “Extended Universe’ content. I will continue adding to this post and reuploading as I discover more content. If you have questions about spinoffs and related stuff like Iris Whildthyme or Faction Paradox, you can ask me, but you’ll probably fare better by searching it up online.

Queer Resources!
This is by no means a complete list and it's something I will keep adding to and improving. If you have any helpful links not listed here, please send them my way!
Please reblog this post, as you never know who may desperately need one of these resources. Feel free to share individual links with friends/family as well. Knowledge is power, after all!
General:
Online safety guide for queer people This guide is extremely thorough, having sections for being online while queer in general, dating online, navigating the workplace, advice for queer people under 18, and more. If you grew up online and think you don't need to read any of this, I am begging you to read it. There's always something you don't know, something you won't think to do in a stressful situation. Please, please read through it all. Safety first!
Coming out handbook by The Trevor Project (PDF) A downloadable PDF walking you through the coming out process. It's a bit long, but well worth reading even if you have come out already to friends and/or family. It is very supportive of you, the reader, so it is wonderful if you feel unsure or nervous about your identity.
Quick guide for coming out (nonbinary focused) This is a briefer guide for if you or someone else just needs an overview of the process. It doesn't focus as much on the emotional support part and more on the logistics of coming out. So this one is good if you're very confident in your identity and just need to come out.
Pronouns and names:
Pronoun Dressing Room This site lets you try different pronouns AND names for yourself. You can fill the text fields with literally anything you want. It also has lots of neopronoun presets, organized alphabetically and by theme. To "try on" pronouns and names it uses a simple example paragraph where someone talks to their friend about meeting you. But there is also sections of public domain books where your name and pronouns replace the main characters'.
Pronouns Page This site allows you to make a "card" that lists all your names, flags/identities, pronouns, and terms you want used for you, as well as your preferences for/feelings about of them. It is highly customizable, you can add neopronouns, nounself pronouns, and emoji pronouns. You can even make separate cards for other languages. These cards can be easily shared with others and linked in profiles. It is also a huge resource for terminology, definitions and descriptions of identities, and how pronouns have been and are used in culture and fiction. There's also a full calendar of awareness days/week, appreciation days/weeks, and days of remembrance.
List of nonbinary names These are organized into separate pages by first letter. It includes non-English names, gives origin and meaning for each name, and, perhaps most helpfully, includes how often that name is used as a feminine or masculine name. Even if you are not nonbinary, this can still be helpful in choosing a new name. Personally I found this page infinitely more helpful than going to baby name lists, which are often split by gender and don't have as much for gender neutral names.
Gender:
The Nonbinary Wiki home page This wiki is an invaluable resource, I'm not exaggerating. It has almost everything you would want to know about gender, sexuality, and romantic attraction. It has who made the flags, their meanings, when terms were coined, archived posts, the history of identities, sub identities and micro labels... everything. I will note that understandably, the info for binary gender experiences on this wiki is limited.
List of (common) nonbinary identities This list gives descriptions, history, and more for every common gender identity that isn't strictly the binary female/woman or male/man. Almost every one of these identities has its own dedicated page which goes into further detail. And this list includes nonbinary identities that have existed in non-European and non-American cultures for centuries, or even thousands of years.
List of uncommon nonbinary identities This is a huge and detailed compilation of identities that have as little as one person known to use that label. It also has links to the original or archived posts where the term was coined, if available. This page can be used as something to help you figure out what you like and what you don't like in terms of gender identity. And you never know, the perfect label for you could be in here.
Legal recognition of transgender and nonbinary people by country This page details how inclusive, or exclusive, countries are to trans and nonbinary people. Such as if they allow "X" for gender/sex on ID and passports, what is required to have it changed, and how easy or difficult it is to change your legal name. Canada, the UK, and the USA have dedicated pages for this that go into further detail and provide more resources.
Romance and sexuality:
List of romantic and sexual orientations (nonbinary focused) This list does include common ones like lesbian, but also includes rare identities such as Aquian, being attracted only to people who's gender changes. As I said this is focused on orientations that do not assume you are a binary gender, the people you are attracted to are a binary gender, or that your gender is connected to your sexuality.
AUREA (The Aromantic-spectrum Union for Recognition, Advocacy, and Education) AUREA is not very large right now, but what it lacks in quantity it makes up for in quality. It has a large glossary of romantic, aromantic, queerplatonic, and other related terms. Which includes rare terms and identities under the aromantic umbrella. They have downloadable PDFs with basic info on aromanticism, as well as links to research that has been done on aromanticism.
Guide to Aromanticism This contains basic info about aromanticism, and "Am I Aro?" questioning section, and links to aro creators. Reading through the whole thing shouldn't take more than half an hour.
Allosexual Aromantic resources This site links to a wide variety of resources by, for, and information on allo-aros. There's terminology guides, how to write allo-aro characters, how to be a good ally towards allo-aros, essays, and fiction featuring allo-aro characters.
AVEN (The Asexual Visibility and Education Network) This is a wonderful resource for information on asexuality. It has a thorough FAQ section for both people questioning and friends/family who have questions and concerns about asexualism.
Asexual Perspectives This is a community blog where people can write about their experiences as asexuals. These posts are incredibly validating and eye-opening and I strongly recommend you read them.
The Gray Area This is a quick FAQ about greysexualism and demisexualism that is for questioning, allies, and people unfamiliar with greysexualism.
AVEN Forms AVEN hosts a form where asexuals, and people who once identified as asexual, can talk about their experiences.
An Asexual's Guide To... This is a brief sex ed taught from an asexual perspective. Which is to say it does not automatically assume you are interested in sexual activities and have some experience feeling sexual attraction. Even if you aren't asexual, it can be quite helpful in understanding the experience. It does not teach you much about the actual having sex part, though. It focuses more on being comfortable with yourself and your body. It is also inclusive to intersex people. (This guide has no pictures, if you were worried about that.)
Setting sexual boundaries with a partner list This is not queer specific but still helpful as it does not assume the sexual relationship is between the two binary sexes/genders and still works if you are intersex. To cut down the paragraphs at the beginning, this is a list of sexual and romantic actions and behaviours. You are supposed to assign a yes, maybe, no, or not applicable to everything on this list to indicate if you are willing, unsure, or will not do those things. It is suggested you go through it with your partner, but you can fill it out alone to figure out your preferences. This list/guide can be useful if you have sexual trauma and/or have had an abusive partner in the past and need to communicate what may trigger you.

Tumblr media
MODERN! PORCO HEADCANONS #2 ★ masterlist.
⏤ some more pock headcanons for you ^^ think i'm running out of teenage headcanons, maybe next time i'll graduate him to uni level :P enjoy anyway! thank u for sending me this!! part one here!
Tumblr media
porco really likes junji ito artwork and for christmas, annie didn’t know what to get him so she got him an art collection book of his stuff which kinda set him off
he really likes sci-fi books
constantly changes his music taste but he never downloads any music nor does he have any playlists - he just listens to whatever the day gives him through pre-made playlists and radios
he started liking his lifeguard job significantly more when he got promoted from baby pool duty to adult free swim (hot chicks)
but i think porco actually really likes kids, he likes how honest they are and how much fun they have with anything they have
he’s quite easily led by what he hears and reads online so eventually he made the commitment to just erase majority of his social medias - all he uses now are instagram, snapchat, bereal and he cut down on his reddit usage (congrats pock)
he hates reading the news
he’s still kinda pursuing design engineering (uni is just around the corner) but he’s still got that interest in aviation - he thinks he might look into aviation engineering or aerospace engineering or something like that
he can still handle his drinking quite well - zeke is older and says that’ll come in handy when pock goes to uni
he always picks the skin around his fingers when he feels anxious, which seems to be a lot these days
and he gets nervous rashes over his chest sometimes
he likes rock climbing and bouldering in his spare time, and took it up with reiner when he confessed he didn’t really wanna do it alone
he’s more of a dog person than a cat person and is that guy who always wants to sit with the dog at the party or wants to stroke the dog that’s walking across the road
thinks that burger king is better than kfc and will die on that hill (and he’s dying there alone)
always wishes he had a younger brother like zeke and eren
he loves eren a lot and likes to indulge in eren’s interests sometimes to try and imagine what it could have been like if his mom had pushed out a third one after porco
really wants tattoos but he gets bored of things too quickly and he thinks he’ll end up hating all of them
only types with two fingers on a keyboard (he’s so me)
likes jazzy, soul ballads
one time, he thought he had a crush on pieck, and they danced together at prom and they discovered that porco is a pretty good dancer
wants his hair to look like john wick some day
he’s afraid of mice and rodents
wants to travel outside of his hometown for uni but is always afraid that one day he might not be close with his friends back home anymore and that makes him really sad

hi im new to the transformers fandom. i watched half of season 1 of tfa and all of earthspark and Thats It. do u think im qualified to read eugenesis??? or unqualified? or whatever will be more fun?
I mean, I can't tell you whether you're qualified or not to read a fanfic, but I can give you some context so you can decide if you want to:
Eugenesis is a fanfic written by James Roberts (JRo) who would later go to write the fan-favorite comic More Than Meets the Eye in 2012, which is set in the IDW1/IDW 2005 continuity (more info on that here).
Eugenesis was published in 2001 (being a remix of an earlier, incomplete fanfic also by Roberts) when JRo was part of Transmasters UK (TMUK). A group of fans that would distribute zines, organize cons and collectively write their own fanfic continuity based on the Marvel UK comics (the UK version being different from the US version of the comics, more info on that here)
So, ideally, to read Eugenesis with full context, one would need to have read Marvel UK and the previous TMUK stories. You can find the first online, but a great part of the later has been lost to time. @polyhexian is currently working on an archive of TMUK stuff. Luckily, you can make do without any of these (like I did at the time), because Eugenesis comes with a helpful continuity notes guide whihc you can download here, along with the main text.
I would greatly advice to anyone to read that first, even if you have read Marvel UK, because it also covers TMUK stuff. Eugenesis is still going to be a tad confusing at times, but it'll make things so much easier to understand.
As for my personal recommendation, is Eugenesis good? Is it bad? Well, it is an experience, for sure, I'm obsessed with it. I adore how depressing it is, how it has some of the most touching lines I've read followed by the weirdest description choices and oh boy, does the prose drag at times. It's an amateur work in a way that makes it very raw and I love it, it truly is born out of love.
It has value as a piece of fandom history and as a fan of Robert's later work in Transformers. A lot of concepts that JRo introduces in his comics first appear here, and it's interesting to see his influences and the way his prose has evolved.
Now, this is very important, the way the fandom talks about Eugenesis it's as something very silly, JRo writing a fic for his mechpreg kink. And yeah, I also do that because a lot of the stuff in this is premium material for shitposting. But this is NOT something that's worth reading just for the lolz.
Eugenesis is a very depressing read with a lot of potentially triggering material. Including lots of robot body horror and death, some detailed, some just mentioned in passing. Also suicide, suicidal ideation and suicide attempts. One part goes into detail about a character's mental state before taking their own life, including allucinations, but no one here is ina good mental place. There are also death camps, with torture depersonalization and detailed inhumane treatment. This is holocaust with robots. One chapter is literally titled "The Anti Holocaust". It does throw you bones at the end, but at it's core is a book about futility.
Depending on what you can stomatch, it may not actually be that bad, some even wish it was worse. But I don't know you, so I want to give you a fair warning, and I repeat, it is not worth reading just for a laugh.
Sorry for all that infodump. You may do whatever you want with this information. I hope it helps and feel free to ask any more questions!

YAYYY!!!
Okay everything I'm gonna tell you is for aj classic, download link is here -> https://classic.animaljam.com/en
Once u get the app you can make an an account (button is at the bottom of the main menu). It'll send you though a little tutorial (not too terrible! Would suggest going through it at least once if you've never played) but then you can get right into the game afterwards!
(extra info under the cut)
Few things you'll wanna do after you make a new account:
Set up an email tied to the account
this can be done through either the settings menu, or the little gift icon by the bottom of the screen.
this can allow you to change your chat settings from the regular safe chat option (preset list of possible words) to safe chat plus (any words that fit the filters)
2. Enter me for the invite a friend system :)
There's a system in game where you're able to get rewards for referring a friend, and I recently just started doing this and would love if you helped..
You can do this through the buddy menu (icon in the top left of a tiger and monkey), and then clicking the green "how did you hear?" button. Enter my username (rem4eva) and that's it baybe!
3. Do the journey book!
This can technically be done whenever, but I personally think its a good way to familiarize yourself with the areas in the game. This is a scavenger hunt of sets of animals/plants in the background of each land. Plus it gives you some neat items to start off with.
The book icon won't be on your UI at the start, you have to find and click on one thing to activate it. Easiest are the termites in Sarepia Forest (to the left of the spawn on the tree, right next to the butterflies).
Other info:
It'll take a few days for your username to be approved! Don't worry if you're "New Jammer" for a while!
UNFORTUNATELY most of animal jam is locked behind a paid membership. Its not required to get one (most of the years I've played without one!), but it definitely opens up the game significantly. Just wanted to warn about this ahead of time! If you find you like the game enough you can always get a membership for yourself :)
The AJ wikis are EXTREMELY helpful. This is an old game and has a LOT within it. If you're ever looking for extra info on something, feel free to look around the wikis!
Classic Wiki -> https://animaljam.fandom.com/wiki/Animal_Jam_Classic_Wiki
Thisll be for your general game info!
Item Worth Wiki -> https://aj-item-worth.fandom.com/wiki/Animal_Jam_Item_Worth_Wiki
This will be to check the worth of items! Much of AJ is trading and buying, being able to know what can get you what is very helpful and essentially needed at this point.
Have fun and be yourself :)
If you have any other questions that come up while playing, feel free to ask!! Id love to help :)
(Additionally if any other players see this and have anything to add, I'd greatly appreciate it! I'm not so caught up with what its like to start out new since I've had the same account for YEARS!!)

Can i ask what gameplay mods u might be using for ts4? Have been inspired to make my own bingqiu sims to run around but find the gameplay might be lacking for such guys
Ok I'm gonna be real like half of them are sex mods but here's what I have currently:
Mods that make the game actually tolerable:
MC Command Center - easy cheat access for everything from changing traits to hacking funds
XML Injector - code basis for a lot of gameplay mods, many of the ones on this list require it
Steady Sit - forces your Sims to stay seated unless they really need to get up. A need for taking photos or admiring your little guys
Autonomous Homework Mod - a MUST if you have any younger sims I swear these bitches are so bad at doing their homework it's awful
Better Computers Mod - stops your Sims and anyone that visits their house from CONSTANTLY being on the computer. Also adds Nintendo switches lol
Fun stuff:
Have Some Personality Please! Mod (sfw) - replaces the generic idle talk options with a bunch of more unique interactions between sims depending on their personality traits, also adds some extra stuff like letting sims learn more about each other through talking
Passionate Romance Mod (sfw) - adds extra cute romantic interactions and milestones like meeting the family, snuggling, etc.
The Explore Mod (sfw) - rabbit hole mod that lets sims explore on their own; also comes with an optional gambling trait and feature
SimDa Dating App (sfw but nsfw compatible) - adds a dating app on the phone that lets sims go on blind dates and hookups and whatnot. I mostly use it to put new npcs in my sims' contact books without actually having to go to parks and stuff to find them! Very handy
Roommates Mod (sfw) - lets sims have roommates that do chores and pay rent
Sex stuff:
Wicked Whims (nsfw, thee sims sex mod) - adds sex and nudity + sexual preferences/orientation details + menstrual cycle + some other romance stuff. If you don't want the sex there's a sfw version called Wonderful Whims that just adds detailed romantic attraction and extra little details like that
Flirty Fetishes (nsfw) - BDSM mod lol. Got it for binghe
Basemental Drugs (nsfw like in the drugs way) - to be honest I downloaded this one because it's a required basis for some other mods, but it adds drugs and alcohol
Wicked Perversions (very nsfw) (requires ww and basemental drugs) - I'm ngl I only got this one for the succubus feature because I wanted to make binghe an occult demon form without actually buying the occult pack, but the oviposition trait will be a nice touch for when I make zzl I think. It's a kind of intimidating mod so make sure you check all the content warnings cause it adds some. Interesting stuff but if you're into that I won't judge

Hello! I'm sorry to bother you, but I was wondering how long you studied Japanese for until you became good enough to do manga translations? (Or fluently read manga at all, really 😔) I want to help contribute to projects like that, but I feel I still have a long way to go until then 🤧
Tumblr media
so first off: sorry this took so long to reply to! when I first got the message I had exactly Zero free time, and then i simply forgor (whoops lol)
I actually already have a few posts sort of about this in my #translation tips tag, but it's been a hot minute so I might as well provide some updated info~
(under the readmore 'cause it's longggggggg)
How long have I studied Japanese?
A While. I had maybe a not so typical journey with Japanese... If you break it down it looks kinda like this:
4 years of watching a TON of anime to pick up basic vocab just by ear (this was in high school- I did not take any actual classes or even make any effort to learn the language at this point, but apparently I'm pretty good at just picking up things from hearing them)
4 1/2 years of actual Japanese classes in college (actual learning with like teachers and textbooks and homework)
1/2 year of study abroad that I managed to cram in before I graduated (additional classes and also constant speaking the language)
8 1/2 years since then (god has it really been that long???) (no actual like... studying during this time, but a LOT of translating... mostly Saiki)
So.... 13-ish years? if you don't count the first 4 that were just watching anime. And technically only 5 of them were actual "studying".
-
How long did I study before doing manga translating?
I, uh….. I actually started translating manga about a month BEFORE I ever took a single Japanese language class.
(not recommended but like… here I am lol)
I had found some volumes of Pyu to Fuku Jaguar(a gag manga I really liked but only had 3 volumes translated at the time) at a used bookstore, but they were in Japanese so I just kind of bought them, downloaded an english to japanese dictionary app, printed out a hiragana/katakana chart, and then just went through the book: looking up one letter at a time, sounding out words, looking them up in the dictionary. I already knew a lot of vocab and had a vague feel for grammar exclusively from watching anime, but like also there was a loooooooot of looking stuff up. I don't remember exactly how long it took to read that first volume (at least a month lol- maybe 2 or more)
I noticed the scan group for Pyu to Fuku Jaguar was updating really slow (and/or had notices that they needed more translators? I forget it's been over a decade lol) So I figured: I can understand this well enough just reading it on my own.... maybe I can help???? it's probably better than nothing right?? So I tried my hand at doing some translations and uploaded them to the newbie board of a manga translation side to have people proofread, and then I emailed the group to ask if I could join. If I remember correctly they only ended up posting one (or none) of my translations?? before disappearing so I just kind of kept doing the translations on my own without uploading them anywhere
and then later when a new group took over they had gotten my translations from the previous group (or was it the translation site where I uploaded some?) and credited me in the release, so I sent them a message like "hey neato! I actually have like 5 more translations done, u want em?" and ended up joining THAT group to continue working on the series!
I started taking classes p soon after starting the translations, and doing translation while taking classes was actually really nice 'cause I had a place to pretty much immediately apply the things I learned in class, and the translating outside of class gave me a lot of practice for reading & a good head start for learning new vocab.
Honestly I think for translating, being good at the language you're translating into is more important than being good at the language you're translating from. Like: you should still at least SORT of know the language you're translating from (that is an important part of it too don't get me wrong) But like even if someone is perfectly fluent in Japanese, if they're translating into English but don't know how to make words sound good in English, then it kind of defeats the purpose haha.
(reading a lot and paying close attention to wording and stuff, and also reviewing and revising your translations will help with that part of the translation process- it's also a skill you pick up as you go)
-
Tips for getting better at reading Japanese?
Honestly I think translating is one of the best ways to get better at Japanese (understanding and reading at least- it won't necessarily do much to help you remember how to write or speak haha) Reading is helpful to some extent, but you will probably get to a point where you understand enough of it to get the gist of whats happening, but then your brain will just sort of skim over a lot of the parts you don't know in the interest of enjoying the story without stopping. When you translate though, you're FORCED to stop and look up every word or phrase you don't know and double check things and sort of sit on them and think what it means and how you would say it in your own language.
If you're self motivated enough you can probably get some good learning out of language apps like duolinguo or babel or whatever, or even just buying Japanese textbooks/workbooks and going through them by yourself. Otherwise, taking Japanese classes is the standard approach (even if you don't go to a school where they offer Japanese classes, there are private options- just google Japanese classes or Japanese tutors online or in your area if you prefer in person)
This old post of mine has some more detailed tips for how to look things up, and some just general translating tips that I think are still p useful, but it pretty much boils down to "google everything you don't know until you know it"
also the 10ten extension is good for highlighting/translating individual japanese words in your browser (when they're written in kanji or kana) and the google translate app is good for taking pictures of text and reading it so you know what the dang kanji says (or you can hand write the kanji in there too- though I need to find a better kanji dictionary app 'cause google's doesn't really give you enough space to write)
-
Sorry this ended up WAY longer than I thought it would but I hope it helped!
Good luck!!

rlly thrilled to hear both of you are doing well with ur books. if u don't mind me asking: is it financially viable? Could u do something like that and support urself or is it more like pocket money? are there startup costs? (feel free to ignore this ask if this is something you don't want to talk about)
Hey Anon,
I don't know if you're the same anon but I'll post the link to the ask that sparked this question for any who are curious here.
The answer to all your questions can be yes (helpful, right?)
Details below the cut...
Is it financially viable?
In my opinion, yes but you and I may be at very different stages in our lives. Are you a student? A parent with young children? Are you struggling to pay the light bill? Do you have time and energy to throw into writing daily or nightly around real life? These things matter.
Could I live off what I'm earning since I started self-publishing nearly a year ago? Hell no. I have a very good full-time job with benefits and an excellent retirement package. My husband and I have both agreed I can't walk away from that for anything less than six-figure earnings but I can say our mortgage has been covered by my writing for the past six months. That's meaningful to us and worth my time and effort.
Does success happen? It does but I won't sugarcoat it. For every Lucy Score, Cora Reilly and T.L. Swan, self-published romance authors who are millionaires, there are thousands out there who are making much, much less. From $20 to $10,000 in a month, it varies widely! But there are things you can to do increase your chances of hitting it big.
Also, I should mention that Amy and I are Amazon exclusive, part of their Kindle Unlimited subscription service. The good part about that? We earn 70% of our sales versus 30% if we were classified as Wide authors (people who can publish elsewhere like Smashwords, etc). The not so good part, you're very dependent on Amazon. For now, it's worth it for us and the (very different) niches we chose do well in KU.
Startup costs -
KEEP IT MINIMAL! I would not throw tons of money into fancy formatting software or professional editing if you're looking to self-publish your first novel. Do the work yourself, take advantage of free resources, sites and tools and see a profit (hopefully). I published my first book May 31st last year and I had made up my initial startup costs by the time my second book was released in late July.
What you actually need..
Royalty free images to make covers - $40 and up, up, up
Catch deals from Deposit Photos. Twice a year they do a deal through appsumo where you can get 100 images for $40. It's a steal of a deal. GIMP is free software you can download to make covers. Find YouTube videos to show you how. It's all out there and free. But it takes effort. Sorry, no shortcuts there :)
Reader Services - $10/month
Many, many self-published authors use bonus stories or free stories as Reader Magnets to draw readers and future fans to their newsletters. You need a system to funnel those readers and collect emails. Bookfunnel is who I use. Some of their services are free but you pretty much need that $10/month to make use of the good stuff. They also offer author swaps and newsletter building promos if you want to grow your list of followers. StoryOrigin is an alternative site some people use.
Newsletter - $0
I use Mailerlite which is free up to 1k subscribers. There's also Mailchimp. You can have freebie landing sites from Mailerlite. I haven't bothered with a paid website domain yet but I know this is something I'll need to look into soon.
ARCs - $10 to $20/month
Booksprout is the one I use. There are probably others. I think it's about $10/month for the beginner subscription to get those reviewers. I'm using a mid-list author plan now ~ $190/year. Some niches make use of SM more for this.
Advertising - $0 to thousands
Don't bother until you've got a book or two out there (come ask me if you get to that point). I'd say the only advertising you should focus on to start with is your passive marketing - your blurb, your cover and the keywords you enter on Amazon that make your book discoverable. Beyond that, paid advertising can wait.
However, you can use Tiktok to get your book noticed. Amy is learning the ropes of this and we've both seen people whose sales have skyrocketed thanks to one or two good Tiktoks to draw readers. One person made $10k in a month off of ONE good Tiktok. Other SMs have their successes, too. This is not an area I excel at though. I'd need one of my kids to teach me more... lmao.
Finally, I'll say, I didn't go into this thinking it would make me rich and famous. I wrote 3 million words of Jonsa out of love over the course of five years. I've written 350k words of original fiction the past year and it's paying the mortgage. Thankfully, I love what I'm writing and I've set myself a five-year plan for my 'side hustle' to see how I feel in 2027. We'll see where I am then. Fingers crossed I can claim I'm a six-figure author!
But what you can achieve in self-publishing can be phenomenal if you're writing to market (giving romance readers those tropes they love and hitting the expected story beats) in a genre and niche that has hungry readers. Our discord has verified tiers so people who say they're making 50k in thirty days aren't just blowing smoke. They've proven it. Imagine making money like that and then, if you're at a point in your life where you want to try, GO FOR IT.

do you have any online resources for Balkan books? i'm learning croatian so it would be cool to practice reading actual books instead of just balkan twitter
balkandownload.org , knjige.club and iirc libgen has some croatian and serbian things
go crazy :) if u want croatian book reccs too, from our authors id reccommend anything by ivica ivanišević (my fav is "primavera", esp since its very classic dalmatian setting) and renato baretić. baretić's "osmi povjerenik" is a cult book, but since it uses a lot of dialect, and a made up dialect too, it might be too advanced. "hotel grand" is also a fantastic book of his, that one might be easier to get through.
if you want classics, one of my favorite book series is "grička vještica" by marija jurić zagorka (the first croatian female journalist). its 7 books, with plot taking place during maria theresa's rule of hungary, but the speed and the twists are like a modern netflix show. she did the "enemies to lovers" trope back in like the 1910. and she and jane austen are the only people ive ever liked it from. ive read all the books like 5 times, and insisted my sister is named Nera after the main character. if netflix producers read this, they would sign the production papers within 10 seconds of finishing the books. unlike krleža, she wrote in a quite simple style and language (tho there is nothing simple about croatian anywhere i guess).
if you want to read some poetry i recc dobriša cesarić - he is one of the most famous croatian poets, and his poems are simple but with incredible flow. you can also find the texts online without downloading. just google dobriša cesarić pjesme. :) "balada iz predgrađa" is one of his best ones. "voćka poslije kiše" is something every single croat can quote.
grigor vitez was also a wonderful poet but he wrote for children - idk what level youre at, but that might be a good start too! his poems are beautiful. "kad bi drveće hodalo", for example.
on topic of poetry, since this is a communist and antifascist blog, i recc you the main poem of yugoslavia: desanka maksimović's "krvava bajka" about genocide in kragujevac. its short and you can find it on wikipedia.
from recent books which were translated to croatian i rly enjoyed nita prose's "maid" and from this french author "fresh water for flowers" (too tired to remember her name rn). anthony doerrs "the light we cannot see" is a bit reactionary but still a great read. "the cathedral" (cant remember the author rn) also won me over.
if you want to watch a good movie i recc "svećenikova djeca", if you can find the torrent. idt i was able to last time when i wanted to watch it. :/
from bands, if you want to hear some dalmatian music and accents, i reccommend daleka obala, tutti frutti band, dino dvornik ("afrika" and "manijak" are bangers), oliver dragojević (listen to "nadalina" its super cool!), TBF ("genije" plays in my head always) and if u wanna see the traditional split dance just search "splitsko kolo" on youtube :)
i can also just send you my own book if u wanna read that lol (im a published author in croatia, and a class traitor for advocating book piracy here on tumblr i guess) . it does use some dalmatian slang tho.
