Tyre Nichols was loved by his community and was known to be gentle, kind, and joyful. He loved skating and was originally from the Bay Area in California. He was known as someone “you know when he comes through the door he wants to give you a hug” and that “he wouldn’t hurt a fly.”

“He had never been in trouble with the law, not even a parking ticket. He was an honest man, a wonderful son, and kind to everyone. He was quirky and true to himself, and his loss will be felt nationally.”

The practice of giving sedatives to people detained by police has spread quietly across the nation over the last 15 years, built on questionable science and backed by police-aligned experts, an investigation led by The Associated Press has found. Based on thousands of pages of law enforcement and medical records and videos of dozens of incidents, the investigation shows how a strategy intended to reduce violence and save lives has resulted in some avoidable deaths.

At least 94 people died after they were given sedatives and restrained by police from 2012 through 2021, according to findings by the AP in collaboration with FRONTLINE (PBS) and the Howard Centers for Investigative Journalism. That’s nearly 10% of the more than 1,000 deaths identified during the investigation of people subdued by police in ways that are not supposed to be fatal. About half of the 94 who died were Black, including Jackson.

Chris Kaba was shot dead by London Met police in Streatham on 5 September. He was unarmed and his car was blocked in by police, and his car was found with a single bullet-hole at head height. He was 24 and about to become a dad. He was also known as Madix from the drill group 67.

A march in his memory was held on 10 September and wrongly reported by news media as a march in memory of the Queen.

If you're angry that the the media's obsession with the Queen's death is keeping news like this out of the headlines, the solution is to keep talking about it.

A York Regional Police officer who fatally shot a 25-year-old man at a Vaughan banquet hall last October did not see him in possession of a gun when he fired at him, according to the province’s police watchdog. The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) also found that the subject officer (SO) ignored direction from his superior not to interact with the man in the moments leading up to the Oct. 9, 2022, shooting at Universal EventSpace. Despite that, SIU Director Joseph Martino concluded the investigation without laying charges against the officer. “On my assessment of the evidence, there are no reasonable grounds to believe that the SO committed a criminal offence in connection with the complainant’s death,” Martino said in his findings released Tuesday. The 25-year-old man is referred to as the complainant in the report. Using video footage from the banquet hall, eyewitness accounts and materials obtained from police, the SIU provided a detailed account of what happened that evening at the facility. [...]

My heart is broken for Ryan Gainer. No one deserves to die simply for being black and autistic. We must fight for the rights of all autistics, because no one will do it for us.

It is so close to autism awareness month, and my heart hurts knowing just how many people face the same discrimination for simply having a disability and being a POC.

If you're wondering what's happening in France this week : the cops murdered a teenager, lied about him being a threat to them, a video proving otherwise circulated on social media, young people from our version of ' housing projects' are taking to the streets and instead of dealing with police brutality and why poc youth might feel so outraged, angry and ready to burn every cop they cross path with, our government is shutting down city trains and buses and sending riot forces. Oh and also our president is blaming video games, cause that's what happened when you're married to an old groomer bat and you have no idea what young people are like cause you're 'step-kids' are older than you.

At fucking least the cop who shot Nahel, who was ONLY SEVENTEEN is being charged with manslaughter (might even be 1st or 2nd degree murder ? I'm more familiar with American law than French law at this point so idek) and is in jail.

France has always been problematic, has always had a problem of police brutality, has always been racist but is bothering less and less every day to even hide it. Don't be fooled into thinking France is still a democracy, we're right on schedule with the rest of Europe and the world for the fucking fascist comeback of doom.

Also fuck Gérald Darmanin, always.

The initial press release alleged that Kloepfer “engaged in a verbal altercation with officers,” then emerged from his trailer and “confronted” cops, prompting them to open fire on him.

Never. Ever. Trust. the police version of events. EVER.

If Mr. Kloepfer didn’t have film to back up what really happened, I have very little doubt that the police would have charged him with a crime and covered up their wrongful shooting.

And before any Blue Lives Matter bootlicker tries to defend the police, the “object” Mr. Kloepfer was holding in his hand was a robot that the police threw into his home. The police are around weapons all day long. Their own weapons & their coworker’s weapons, and you’re telling me somehow they can’t tell the difference between a gun and an expensive object that they presumably trained with, which they tossed into his home, quite literally moments earlier??

When the police noticed the camera filming them, they reacted by warning each other of the camera.

Not only does qualified immunity need to be completely removed, but we need to go upstream a bit and see who is “tipping off” the police and causing these dangerous encounters. If it’s a case of swatting, the “tipper” needs to be prosecuted. You would think that the police would vet such tips more vigorously, because a human life is on the line —but I guess that’s copaganda that only happens on tv shows and in the movies. And going a bit further upstream, we need to question the judges who issue these warrants - like, how little evidence did the police present to a judge? Did the police lie about their “evidence” and their ginned up “suspicions”? Why are judges so quick to hand out warrants on such flimsy evidence? Everyone involved needs to be held accountable.

And don’t even get me started on how the press misreported on this story, as per usual presenting the police report as unbiased facts.

Even worse, the police are using their near-lethal blunder as a fundraiser. GTFOH.

Tw for police murder of Trye Nichols

This last week has been beyond heartbreaking with multiple mass shootings in Monterrey Park, Half Moonbay, Baton Rouge Dior Club, Oakland Gas station, and the Yakima Gas station. As well as the brutal the police execution of Tortuguita in Atlanta.

Today the video of the police murder of Tyre Nichol’s is going to be released. In an interview with his parents mother RowVaughn Wells, and father Rodney Wells, along with their lawyer Ben Crump say they do want this video to be released and be shown. Just listening to the description of what happens to their son is abhorrent and ecrucating in painful.

I will not be posting this video and would ask if you do choose to view it understand this explicitly shows is Tyre’s life being taken from him. His parents describe Tyre as loving son and father, who loved photography and skateboarding. He was incredibly close with his parents and had his mother name, RowVaughn, tattooed. Please remember Tyre Nichols and his family. He was only 29 years old with his whole life ahead of him and his young child to raise.

Tyre Nichol should still be alive to be with his child and his parents. To live full and long life. His murder is henious and unequivocally brutal. Please hold him, his family, and loved ones in your heart forever, we must never forget his murder

A Los Angeles county sheriff’s deputy shot and killed a 27-year-old woman who had called 911 to report that she was under attack by a former boyfriend, police officials and lawyers for the victim’s family said on Thursday.
