She needed to find her tía, that was the only thing Dolores was sure about as she ran through the house with her hands cupped over her ears, attempting to block out the sound of the rumbling thunder. Thunderstorms hadn’t always been something she was scared of – she used to love sitting with Isa and her mamá in the dark and watching the lightening flash across the sky – but everything had been so much louder and scarier since she received her gift. She hated it, the claps and rumbles of thunder and the rain hammering against her bedroom window when she was trying to fall asleep, but her tía always knew the right thing to do to help her feel better. All she had to do was get to la cocina. Continuing on down the hallway, she never even noticed her prima was running in her direction until they ran right into one another and fell down. They both rubbed their heads as they looked at each other in silence for a time, a little dazed, but then Isa got to her feet again and she allowed her to help her up. Mumbling apologies while brushing the other down, they turned to go their separate ways again and Dolores cupped her hands back over her ears with a squeak when another loud clap of thunder came along seconds later. She needed her tía more than ever before now, what with this big lump she could feel starting to form on the side of her head.

Thunderstorms, Magical Madrigals

@ginnyweatherby and I spoke about this idea quite some time ago and I had this as a draft on my computer, so since I have the house to myself for the next week, I thought I would use that time to try and get this done! I think I am going to make it two separate chapters (one for Dolores who hates the thunderstorm and chooses to spend time with Juli and one for Isa who adores them and chooses to spend time with Pepa). I thought I would give you all a sneak peek, so I hope you like this!

Butterfly

Black Cat

Black Cat Symbolism and Meaning can be a bit hard to read. Throughout history, these beautiful creatures have been persecuted simply because of their black color. The bottom line is Black Cats are just as wonderful as every other feline. They are sentient beings with personality and a huge capacity for love. It’s utter nonsense to believe that Black Cats are bad omens. All animal spirit guides can appear to warn us of danger, but that does not make the Animal themselves bad omens. It’s the whole ‘don’t shoot the messenger’ thing, ya’ know?

The mysterious, magical Black Cat has conflicting symbolism depending on the era and culture you read about, but let’s start with a little science. Black Cats are not a specific breed, but simply a cat with genetically produced black fur pigmentation; this seems to happen more in males than females; this is the same combination of genes that gives most black cats their stunning golden eyes that seem to pierce the night.

The folklore of Black Cats seems to paint them as evil or wonderful. Scotland and Ireland generally held black cats in high regard. Their arrival at the home portended prosperity. For a single woman, owning a black cat was said to attract numerous suitors. Germans say that a Black Cat walking toward you or crossing left to right grants wishes. The rest of Europe was not so kind to our sable feline friend. Here and in Western superstitions, the Black Cat was a Witch’s familiar and represented bad luck, including potential death.

On a far happier note, sailors and fishers both treasured black Cats as lucky pets. In the home, the Cat’s Energy was said to protect the fisher at sea. On the ship, cats caught disease-bearing rats who could also destroy cargo. Two notable examples are Chibley, who rode the tall ship, Picton Castle putting in over 180,000 miles at sea, circumnavigating the globe five times. Also, Tiddles, who was born on the HMS Argus and then took up official station on the HMS Victorious traveling some 30,000 miles.

Everywhere you go, you see Black Cats. They’re in TV ads, the paper, your cell phone apps, your dreams, and even wandering near you on the sidewalk. It appears that the Black Cat Spirit Animal has a message for you.

For Witches and Pagans, the appearance of the Black Cat Spirit suggests you focus more on your personal power and how you use it. Black Cats know magic, and this Spirit Animal is more than happy to assist your studies in that realm.

Another reason for Black Cat’s appearance may have to do with your sense of self. Do you feel shunned like the Black Cat, or left in the dark all the time? Black Cat Spirit understands these emotions and comes to aid your healing process. You are worthy of love and dignity. Do not let any social stigmas take that away from you.

The golden eyes of Black Cat Spirit Animal also symbolize the way in which you see things. Encanto Patronuses Part 2

Julieta Madrigal

Dolphin

A dolphin Patronus means you are very graceful, lovable, and intelligent. Those who conjure this Patronus are sociable and have a playful side to them, but they are also fierce protectors when necessary.

Dolphins are very people-oriented and make friends very easily. Their loving and caring nature is their biggest strength and their natural inner light will block out the darkness of dementors.

Dolphins use something called echolocation that helps them track down and catch their prey. Echolocation is done by making clicking noises that bounce sound waves off their target to reveal where the prey is and how big it is.

Therefore, dolphins are essentially natural Dementor hunters that will get the job done quickly.

Pepa Madrigal

St. Bernard

People call St. Bernards “nannies” for kids because of their protective and sweet nature. They will never act viciously toward you but will be the most loyal best friend you could ever have. Those who have this Patronus are strong and resilient.

These massive dogs look intimidating and will easily scare off any Dementor that intends to harm you.

Bruno Madrigal

Otter

Otters are nature’s fuzzy, cuddly, and friendly pets. Their curious demeanor makes them fearless, granted they also do not have many predators. If you have this Patronus, you likely have a close circle of people you are loyal to for life.

Otters are both land and water animals that enjoy community, and you will often see them holding hands with one another. This is one of the reasons they are so often associated with friendship.

Otters are arguably happier than a Dementor is dark and sad, so maybe their warmth will scare off a Dementor without even a fight!
