The year before the pandemic, I was in senior high school. I met someone who soon became my best friend. A few months into our friendship, she approached me one day with excitement in her eyes as she introduced me to this song, "Phoenix" by FallOutBoys. Soon after the song ended, she told me the song reminded her of me. She said I was a phoenix and that I embodied the element of fire in my personality.

I was extremely competitive at the time, passionate about what I do, persistent, strong-willed, headstrong, and very expressive.

I thought I knew who I was... But somewhere around the time of the pandemic, I lost myself. The moment I moved to the city for college, I was bombarded with a lot of bad news while I was finding myself.

Back then, I didn't know what burnout was. And now I do... I lost my spark. I lost the fire in my eyes. I'm in the embers, and I'm afraid to end up with just a tray full of ashes.

I long for a strong gust of wind that will hopefully help ignite my flame once again.

New DP 2024🥰 Self Portait

I've been practicing caricature, and I'm glad that I'm progressing well. This is what I actually look like in real life.

I've been trying to manage two pages on every platform I'm mostly active on. One is "artby_glendy," and the other is "glendy_bluebird." I really do like the username "arby_glendy," but I just realized there are a lot of people with the same name as me out there. And I don't want to use my last name in my usernames either. So I just decided to keep "Glendy_Bluebird" or "Glendy🐦". I decided to name my brainrot or fanart page "Glendy_Bluebird_2".

I grew up a perfectionist. I'm Asian, and I'm the eldest. I'm very keen on spotting "mistakes" in my crafts, which I guess was feeding my imposter syndrome problem that took out my joy in drawing. It got worse in 2023. I'm doing my best to practice getting over too much perfectionism right now, starting with doing a few drawing exercises or challenges such as this one. I'm experimenting with different art styles.

I really do hope I'll be able to post more after this. Though I am also quite preoccupied with school and work. Plus, lots of things have happened to me in that one year. Again, thank you so much for those who kept supporting me even though I've been mostly inactive these days for quite some time. I'm planning on offering you a gift, but I'm not sure when I'll be able to give it to you guys.

I used to have an obsession with glitter, rhinestone and anything shiny when I was in elementary to 7th grade🤣 I surpressed it for a few years (Mostly while I was in my "emo"phase). But that obsession came back bit by bit🥹 Now I'm starting to put it on my digital artworks🤣

I had no idea what to draw🥹I even have a few WIP drawings before this that I never got to finish🥲 I was also so upset that I wasn't able to get the foreshortening right in this piece🤣 Oh well😌... I'll take note of that and practice more.😚

🐦2023 has been the most intense roller coaster ride of problems and emotions I have had so far. It both made me flash back to all of my past traumas (which are confidential) and made me feel more pressured about my future than I'd ever been. I was a wreck. But it was also the year I had a lot of realizations. Maybe it was a year for growth... For 2024, I won't make any promises to myself or anyone; I'll just keep on figuring things out and experimenting.

I forgot to mention that Alora's birthday is on a new year🥹 (In her new design by the way, she's a year younger than Camilo and Mirabel, so Alora is 14. While Rafael is 1 year older (he's 16).

Well I've always wanted to finally create and post the animatic I have in mind for this. But since I'm not sure when I could finish or post it, I suppose it's okay to share here. Their relationship or dynamic is actually pretty much the same as before. The only difference is where Alora Luna comes from. In her new design she's actually from the city side of Colombia near encanto. She's Mexican-Spanish by blood but was born and raised in Colombia. Camilo's the loud extroverted magic kid and Alora Luna is the quiet academic and daughter of an anthropologist and restaurant owner. At first Alora was more like studying Camilo as like a subject and they pretty much quarrel quite a lot. But later on they became really close friends after they found out their common interests. They're both theater kids but Alora is too shy to perform on stage. They geek out about theater plays and write crazy ideas about plays (Alora is gifted in literature). So they're like enemies to best friends to lovers.

helloo there! your art is very cool and very beautiful!! i have an encanto oc I'm working but i didn't really plan on sharing it, considering it's been like 2 years since the movie was released. i figured it'd be weird. but when i saw your blog and oc, i got inspired and now I'm working on my encanto oc again (only difference is that it's now a self-insert🤭)

The theme I was going for for this holiday secret Santa illustration was "wish", and I instantly thought about Star from Disney's recent release "Wish". So I illustrated Star with Milagro (@just_firinnie's gender-bend Encanto character).

I tweaked a few parts of the design😅 I hope it's okay🥹

Alora is a quiet and perceptive person. She is often seen as poised with minimal expression, yet she is sincere and has a rather expressive side that she only shows to those she’s most comfortable with. She sees what others overlook, yet she feels like she’s only seen when needed. She may be patient, but she could be fierce. 

She grew up following her father’s footsteps in academics, music, and culinary arts. She intends to keep making him proud. She basically learned a lot just from following him around. Yet she still has her own interests such as literature (writing plays, songs, stories, and other works of fiction, including non-fiction) and photography.

I made this drawing a couple of months ago, but I never posted it. I was going to post it after that design comparison post I made, but I got preoccupied with other stuff (as usual these days). I already explained my design choices in that comparison post. It would be fun to finally have a post of her brothers' and father's designs, but I think I'll be posting Christmas-themed content after this for now.

The "Copy Cat". He will have the gift of copying others' gifts temporarily in times of need.

Juanito almost looks like a replica of his papa, but he behaves oppositely to Camilo. He's the little angel. He's a soft little boy, very sweet, very timid and humble, and he's so attached to his mami. He's never mischievous like his dad and his older siblings. That's how he is, even while he is growing up.

Funfact:

His mami calls him gatito sometimes

He's afraid of scissors

He randomly stares at his papa for long periods and loves watching him perform.

He loves copying his brother Carlos' power just to turn himself into a cat. (In the future)

I'm not so sure with her exact weight, all I can say is that she's curvy/chubby with a pear-shaped body. For her height, she's 5ft 5in or 5ft 6in. One of her physical traits is that she has tiny feet (I will have post of her full body when I have free time🥲) so despite her size and height, her feet wouldn't match that since it would be really small (I couldn't specify yet). Her hair type ranges between 2B to 2C to 3A. When she and her brothers were way younger, their hairs were just type 3A.

To generally describe her personality, she's very intelligent, meticulous, observant, and reserved, yet also secretly quite expressive.

She's good at writing (especially creative writing such as writing stories, novels, songs, and plays/script). She's also good at cooking and baking as she spends most of her time at her dad's kitchen restaurant. She has other several past time hobbies, but that's mostly cause she's socially awkward and doesn't have many friends except her brothers and later on, Camilo.

Context: Imelda died right after she pushed out her last triplet. Though Manuel and the kids couldn't really see Imelda's spirit, she's always there guarding them.

This was supposed to be like a 5 second animation, but the illustration took me a while to finish that I ran out of time to animate it🥲

🐦To answer your question, YES the triplets do sleep stacked together like that since they were babies up until 10 years old when Alora was given her own bedroom.

Funfact about familia Luna that I never mentioned but you may have picked up: -Imelda is from Mexico -Manuel is from Spain -The triplets were raised in Colombia, yet they travel a lot from time to time before Manuel focused on his restaurant.

I haven't posted here on Tumblr, Twitter, and Deviantart lately. I'll post some of my commissioned works, and a few sketches too. I've been busy throughout this whole year lately ever since we got into face-to-face classes. I moved to a big city in our country alone, got 2 jobs, college, got into a 2d animation org in our school, and then there's my mental health TvT Thank you so so much to those who continued to support me!!!
