Bruno: I have bonded so well with my nieces and nephews. They all help me with my telenovelas and taking care of my rats…
Bruno: Except those two, but I don’t know why
Dolores: Because you left and we were the ones who had to face consequences for it, and you’ve not once tried to apologise for what you put us through?
Mirabel: Because I was singlehandedly blamed for my estranged uncle, whom I had never spoken with, leaving after my failed gift ceremony for being a disappointment?
Dolores: Because I was made to feel like I was hearing things with you in the walls?
Mirabel: Because knowing a man lived inside the walls of our house for ten years, watching us without our knowledge, is a horrifying thing to comprehend?
Dolores: Because you are actually incredibly selfish?
Mirabel: We can keep going. We have a whole list of these.
Bruno: Hmm… It’s a mystery.
Dolores and Mirabel: No, it isn’t!

Mirabel: Hmm... If I had a gift, what do you think it would be?
Luisa: Super-intelligence, since you're already super smart.
Mirabel: Aw, thanks Lu! It would be quite useful.
Dolores: I think it would be enhanced agility.
Mirabel: It would definitely help me get around the Encanto quickly to help out.
Antonio: Mind reading! That power would be so cool!
Mirabel: You think so? Only if I can choose when to have my power active, I don't want to always hear what people are thinking...
Isabela: Teleportation. I think that power would be quite good for you.
Mirabel: That's true. I do interact with the townspeople quite a bit, it would be useful in checking around the Encanto quickly.
Camilo: The power to understand and speak in any foreign languages, since you're such a good communicator already.
Mirabel: Woah, that would be a cool power. And since the mountains have opened up now, it means that people who might not speak English or Spanish will enter the Encanto.
Mirabel: Obviously, I am fine not having a gift, but those powers were such great ideas.
The rest of the grandkids: *words of agreement*

Sleepover with Abuela
Camilo had suggested it as a joke, but when Abuela had agreed to let her grandchildren have their monthly sleepover in her room, everyone was pleasantly surprised. Normally, no one was allowed in Abuela’s room. Rarely had anyone seen Abuela with her hair undone and wearing her nightclothes. But a little over a year since Mirabel had revived Casita, there had been a significant shift in her demeanor. She laughed more and joked more. She sang and danced more. Now that Camilo thought about it, maybe allowing them into her private space was not that far behind, after all.
“Bienvenido, mis nietos. Come in, come in,” she said, grinning brightly as stepped aside to let in her grandchildren. Everyone was carrying their own sleeping bag except Antonio; Luisa was carrying Antonio’s and her own. Abuela looked odd wearing a peach-colored robe and her silver hair in pigtails. But she also looked younger and lighter than usual.
“I hope we’re not intruding, Abuela,” said Isabela as she kissed her Abuela’s cheek.
“Not at all. I love having you all here.” Abuela clasped her hands in front of her. “Now, what do you usually do at these sleepovers, huh?”
Everyone looked at Camilo, who squirmed where he stood. “Why are you all looking at me?”
“This was your idea. What did you have in mind when you suggested sleeping over with Abuela?” said Mirabel, smirking at him.
“Um...” His heartbeat mounting, Camilo locked eyes with Abuela. “I guess... I want to know her more. And Abuelo.” His eyes shifted to the gilded picture frame at the nightstand. It was their wedding photo.
“Aww.” Abuela put her hands over her heart. Camilo relaxed when his sister and cousins were now smiling at him. “Then, I’m glad I granted your request. Make yourselves comfortable, mis amores. Antonio, let me...”
They spread out their sleeping bags until they covered most of the floor. Abuela brought out a stack of photo albums from a large wooden chest. “Most of these photographs are of our family here in the Encanto. But I have a few of my own family and also your Abuelo’s.” Abuela sat at the foot of the        bed while her grandchildren listened to her stories of her youth outside the Encanto. Abuela seemed to transform in front of their eyes as she spoke about her parents, her extended family, her friends, the animals in their household. Her energy and zest for life was most similar to Pepa, and Abuela’s eyes dimmed ever so slightly as she recalled how she had controlled her daughter throughout her life. “Julieta and Bruno didn’t only get their father’s looks. They are so alike Pedro in their personalities, too.” The grandchildren already knew about Pedro’s writing talent and sense of humor, but they didn’t already know about his passable culinary skills and his desire for an extended alone time.
“We wish we could have met him, Abuela,” said Dolores.
“I like to think that you have. There’s a little of him in all of your parents,” said Abuela.
A few hours later, everyone was asleep. Camilo stirred awake. Blinking as his eyes adjusted to the moonlight from the window, he noticed that Abuela was sitting up on her bed and watching them. “Abuela? Aren’t you able to sleep?” he whispered, concerned that she had insomnia like Tío Bruno.
“I will sleep soon, Camilo. Just let me admire you all for a little while.”

Bruno and Madrigal grandchildren! in real life
Tumblr media
Finally, all the Madrigal children! + Tío Bruno.
Mirabel was especially difficult😥, to get sharpness in her eyes I gave her squarer glasses
and Luisa's and Dolores' hairstyles were impossible, so I let their hair down.
I only used Artbreeder/portaits, what do you think?

Encantober 2023 Day 10: Help
Luisa was considered to be one of the most helpful people in the Encanto. Whenever someone needed help in the village, Luisa was there to help them with whatever was needed. While she was considered a hero in the village, Luisa always had trouble asking for help whenever it was needed, because she was scared it would make her look weak. Ever since she first got her gift, Alma pushed the idea into her head that if she asked for help with anything, she was automatically weak.
It was not until one day when she was doing chores around the village when she realized how much asking for help would be a strength rather than a weakness. It was a sunny Sunday afternoon in the Encanto, and Luisa had just finished lunch and was going into town to do some afternoon chores. She was asked to bring the donkeys back in the shed after they escaped, as always, and now it was time for her to relocate the local church again.
Once she got to the church, she lifted the building with ease and was on her way to relocate it. But once she almost got to the spot she needed to relocate the church to, she dropped it. She lifted the church building once more successfully, and walked over to relocate it, but dropped it before she could again.
Gabriela, Luisa’s best friend since first grade, noticed her struggling and walked over to see what was the matter. She saw her sitting by the church with her head buried in her knees, and her arms wrapped around them. Gabriela ran by Luisa and sat next to her, tapping her on her shoulder.
“Hola, Luisa; I couldn’t help but notice that you were upset. Is there anything that’s bothering you?” Gabriela asked as she put her hand on Luisa’s shoulder.
Luisa hesitated before she could respond. “Si; I’ve been trying to relocate the church, and while I have relocated it several times before, now, I’ve noticed I’m getting really tired after holding it for only a couple of minutes.”
Gabriela hugged her best friend as she continued crying on her shoulder. The pair have been best friends for thirteen years, Gabriela has never seen Luisa break down in front of her before. She has come to her for many things, and she was always the one to offer her help when needed, and vice versa. However, not once during that time did she ever experience Luisa so desperate for help that she broke down.
“Luisa, I want you to know that I’m here for you. I understand that you may not want my help, but I’m offering it to you. You’re my best friend in the entire world and I don’t like to see you struggle.”
Luisa stopped crying and hugged Gabriela once more when she reached her arms out for her. While she did not want to admit it at the moment, she really did need help. Knowing that Gabriela was there to ensure that she would be there put her at ease and made her more comfortable with admitting that she needed help. It made her feel like a lot of weight was taken off of her shoulders.
“Actually, Gabi, I do want your help; in fact, I need your help. You’re one of the only people I can comfortably admit to that.”
Gabriela smiled and gave Luisa another hug. She then wiped the final tear on her face and Luisa smiled at her. Gabi moved a piece of Luisa’s hair from her face and tucked it behind her ear before they got up and looked at the building.
“So, what do you need help with?” Gabriela asked.
“It’s more that I’ve been tired after a while. I guess the burnout has been getting to me since I still have trouble asking for help. Maybe I could get one side of the church and you could get the other side?”
“I’m not sure if that would be strong enough for just me. I would need many more people to help us…” Gabriela then smiled as an idea sparked in her head. “Wait here!”
Gabriela then ran off and Luisa stayed by the church to wait for the surprise that Gabriela was going to get. After about a half hour, Gabriela came back with Jose and Lucia on both sides of her.
“Since I know I’m not the only one that is able to help you, I got my siblings with me to help you!”
“Gabi told us about the pickle you’re in, so we wanted to give you a helping hand,” Lucia pointed out.
“But isn’t it still going to be too much for just the three of you?”
“They’re not the only ones,” said Gabriela.
Gabriela then revealed that Isabela, Dolores, Camilo, Mirabel, and Antonio all came with her. She was not only going to have three people help her; she was going to have eight people help! Knowing that Gabriela got her sisters and cousins to help her made her realize how much of a great friend she was. She knew she was an amazing friend since they first became friends, but this solidified how kind and helpful she was.
“So which side do you want us to be on?” Mirabel asked.
Luisa thought before she replied. I want Antonio and Lucia to be on one side with me since they’re the smallest ones. Mirabel and Jose can go on the opposite side. Camilo and Isabela can take the left side, and Dolores and Gabriela can take the right.”
All three sibling groups split up to take their side of the church building. All nine of them put their hands on the bottom of the edge of the church they were assigned. Once everyone found an area they could lift, Luisa called everyone for attention.
“Okay, on the count of three, we lift. Uno, dos tres!”
All three sibling groups lifted the church together successfully and started to move it. They started with little steps to make sure they were in sync with each other. One of the things they tried their hardest to do since repairing Casita was to use as much teamwork as they could with each other. Ever since then, they have been working together much more and it has helped them with so many things.
It was not long until they made their way to where the church was going to be relocated to. The nine of them slowly put the building down where Luisa was asked to put it. Once the building was put down, the nine of them backed away to see how it looked; they cheered and high-fived each other once they noticed how the church looked.
“It looks amazing! Gracias, Gabriela, for getting everyone to help me!” Luisa pointed out.
“De nada, Luisa; like I said, seeing you struggle doesn’t make me feel good at all. So I found everyone I could to help us.”
“It does feel pretty good to do something for the village other than growing flowers and other plants for everyone,” said Isabela.
“And doing something for the village in general feels great,” Mirabel added.
The nine children hugged each other once more to appreciate their hard work again. As much as they wanted to stay and appreciate it more, it was getting late and it was almost time for them to go home and eat dinner.
“Do you want to ask your parents if you could stay for dinner tonight? It’s the least we could do for your help,” Luisa asked.
“I would love that,” Gabriela replied.

Dolores: Primita, can you turn off the embroidery? I’ve got a massive headache.
Mirabel: *is sewing by hand*
Luisa: How the f… how exactly is she meant to do that, prima?
Dolores:
Dolores, realising she messed up: Wait, I didn’t mean—
Camilo, making fun of Dolores: What was that? I can’t hear you over all the sewing!
Isabela, also making fun: Could that fucking needle be any goddamn louder? I’m trying to watch this rat telenovela!
Bruno, also making fun: FOR GOD’S SAKE, TURN DOWN THE EMBROIDERY!
Mirabel: I-I feel so attacked right now

All of the grandkids designs in caged souls au!!
Tumblr media
First of Isabela, as you can see, she looks a lot like Alma and that is because Pedro forces her to look like her. Every morning he checks her outfit and if it’s just a little off he makes sure that she fixes it. Isabela doesn’t enjoy having her hair in braids the whole time (it also causes a lot hair loss + stress. Which makes her worried.) She doesn’t have a problem with her outfit, maybe the colors but besides that it’s comfortable to say the least. The bracelets on her arms are weight bracelets, Pedro makes her wear them so “she wouldn’t lose any strength” and often as punishments her weight can get heavier. (It’s magic connected bracelets that he controls.) It bruises the skin underneath a lot too. The bag is one of her touches, luckily she convinced Pedro to own a bag like that, when she first bought it was just plain till she decorated it later on (also with mirabel).
She often feels very wrong for wearing similar stuff her dead grandmother wore or the exact bow she wore. Something pedro kept after the dead of Alma, he gifted them to her on her 10th birthday. Isabela also doesn’t work out and that’s the reason for not having massive muscles like Luisa, her strength simple just comes from the magic. (But she still is pretty strong without her gift ofc)
Tumblr media
Dolores’s outfit is rather more detailed, Pedro wanted her outfit to shine more because of her gift. He also did it on purpose cause he noticed that she was a shy kid so he decided the outfit would draw attention and get the shyness off of her. Dolores likes the outfit but she dislikes the attention it drags, she wears a plain shawl often just so she wouldn’t feel like all eyes are on her, it’s also comfortable. She loves the design of her headband but hates how it always slips or doesn’t keep the hair from her face. The clothing on her waist is the shawl, just plain red, she wears it so she can cover herself any time she wants and because it adds a nice touch at least so that Pedro wouldn’t notice anything.
She wears gloves because she started to fear the touch of people. Some of her family members she still finds normal to touch but she hates the feeling anytime she needs to touch so many people just because of her gift. A baby, a hug, holding someone’s hand, anything. She forgets how her hands look like often, (it changes between the color, shapes, sizes etc. of how many dead people she had been everytime she just stares at her hands without gloves.) so the gloves are very important to her.
Tumblr media
Luisa has a simple design, she still likes to work out in this au. She finds it relaxing and it has a special need. Her hair isn’t that long so she puts it in a pony tail. She didn’t know what to do with her outfit because she didn’t have any ideas or a gift. Pedro neither knew so he just decided to make her outfit plain. The colors at the dress, the patterns and the choker was her touch, it was the least she can do. She got the red ribbon from mirabel when she was young and she never wears anything else since then.
She’s the only one with long sleeves because she’s insecure about her muscles, she does like the feeling of being strong but Pedro often scolds her for trying to take Isabela’s place or not looking ladylike, the sleeves are a nice cover for her so she never ever rolls them up.
Tumblr media
Camilo is the one that stands out the most of the grandkids, not that he complains!! He doesn’t like his short hair since it tickles his neck and it makes him feel uncomfortable. He always gets jealous of Dolores’s hair styles and length but everytime he just gets over a bit of his ear Pedro makes sure to cut it. His ruana has a lot of details that he had designed with mirabel when they were little. (Now the ruana makes him feel a bit uneasy but the comfort of the warm feeling never felt.) He likes the color, and the length so it’s pretty comfortable. What he does not like though is his scarf and the little things at the end of the ruana. The scarfs feels too tight often on his neck and the little things are very annoying. He does get a lot of attention from his outfit and sometimes he loves it but the other times he finds it annoying.
He also hates his pants, he would never wear short pants (it exposes his skinny body more which he is very insecure about.) not only that but he hates the cold feeling. At least his shoes are okay.
Tumblr media
Mirabel too has a detailed outfit, she loves the unique flowers at her dress. Her top is more plain but it still looks nice, her choker is based on Alma’s color. Just like how her bracelets are based on Luisa, Camilo, Antonio, Dolores and how her earrings are based on Isabela. Her glasses were a gift from her father, she loves the little butterfly and flower! (Julieta added it!) her outfit is very comfortable which she loves. She has a ribbon that she got from Dolores on her 5th birthday, it makes her feel better often. Her favorite part of her outfit though is the little sewing she did on her dress. Because that was her first actually project after she finished her whole practices, she couldn’t be more thankful to Isabela. (Isabela did the butterfly as a little add and because it was too difficult for mirabel!)
Tumblr media
Antonio has a not so shining outfit which he is thankful for. Pedro has decided to let Antonio decide and design his outfit for a change, which Antonio gladly did. He did everything to make it super comfortable, and then asked mirabel for help with the designs. The headband was dolore’s idea and his shoes were Luisa’s idea. He feels very warm and safe in his clothing mostly because he got to decide the clothing and because his family helped him :D Pedro does start to cut Antonio hair short too time to time which makes Antonio very sad because he loves his big Afro a lot.
That is all tbh, any questions or stuff y’all wanna add?

The grandkids playing Hide and Seek:
~~~
Isabela: *grows a shrub to hide in*
Dolores: *listens out for the seeker, and moves somewhere else when she hears them approaching*
Luisa: *rearranges the furniture to confuse the seeker*
Camilo: *shifts into someone else who isn't playing, and goes into the town to blend in*
Mirabel: *gets Casita to help her hide*
Antonio: *hides in his room, since it's so big, and quietly talks with the animals to pass the time*
Bruno and Aya at 19 for Week 2 of @encanto-extended-edition
Bruno's reputation was deteriorating in his adolescence along with his mental health. With his sisters also struggling with their own gifts at this age, he turned to Aya for support.
By this point, Aya had long come to terms with her own loss and was continuing her family's work. This was the time that her earliest patients began to call her "la bruja." She didn't mind; she liked the idea that she was making her own kind of magic.
With this reignited sense of purpose, Aya helped anyone in need. People came to her for treatments that Julieta can't give. Some of these treatments include administering substances that would be classified as illicit drugs in most parts of the world. (I was inspired by the documentary Have a Good Trip and recent psychiatric research about the potential benefits of hallucinogenic substances for mental health management.)
But because some of these medicines are safer to give to adults, Bruno was actually too young to take them when he first came to Aya complaining about intrusive thoughts and reporting self-harm. So Aya made herself a safe place for Bruno, which did improve his moods. They became closer than before by age 18. By age 19, they were exchanging "I love you's". He shared with her his visions of his future sobrinos and told her how much he loved them.
