Do you have any headcanon for autistic Mirabel? Like what are things that sets her off, things she’s obsessed with and could talk for hours about and does she also flaps her arms.
I have a couple! Here's what I have.
Music and embroidery are her two biggest special interests. She started developing interest in both since she was very young. Both of which were developed because of her father.
The two would sew or play music together for hours since Mirabel was little.
Embroidery became a special interest because she loves to keep her hands busy.
Her stims mostly involve playing with loose pieces of her clothes and strands of her hair. She also sometimes flaps her hands and rubs her fingernails on occasion.
I did mention this in a previous headcanon post, but she has a great memory. She remembers everyone in her family’s birthdays as early as the age of three.
Julieta and Agustin noticed the symptoms in Mirabel as early as two years old, but she didn’t get a proper diagnosis until a year later.
They both knew that, like with Pepa and Felix with Dolores, if she got an earlier diagnosis, she would not have as hard of a time with social navigation as Pepa or Bruno did when they got older, and she would understand why she was different.
Her family support with Pepa, Bruno, and Dolores at the time also helped her immensely.
She was bullied in school as a child for her stims and intensity of her interests. It would get to a point where Luisa would often intervene and threaten to beat her bullies to the ground if they made fun of her again.
And that's all I have so far.

Madrigal triplets 🧠 (if you're familiar with MBTI)
Full disclosure, just started actually learning what all this means so, if I get something wrong and just don't know, oops.
I knew what the MBTI test thing was but never really cared to look into it, the only thing I've done that's close to it was a knockoff test, just for fun.
Thank god this image exists.
Let's go from oldest to youngest:
Julieta.
Are you outwardly or inwardly focused?
I know Julieta’s job kinda calls for extraversion but also, not really. We don't see her making any small talk with people while she's handing out food, it's quite the opposite, she likes the line to move pretty fast so she can see to everyone, proving that she's not looking to be the centre of attention. She seems pretty modest to me in "the family Madrigal" (and in general), like, she’s kinda just following everyone else if that makes sense. So, introversion.
How do you prefer to take in information?
This one was pretty difficult for me to pick at first but I eventually decided on 'Sensing', because of this scene:
While Julieta doesn't discount what Mirabel saw, she's focusing on what she knows to be the reality of the situation: that this was a tough night for Mirabel and she's probably going through a mentally tasking time. Also, she explains what she's feeling very literally: "Tonight was hard", "You're perfect just like this." There's no room for interpretation, she's very open with her opinions.
How do you prefer to make decisions?
Another one I had to think about for a bit. People might disagree here, because Julieta is the level-headed, put-together triplet- but I think she's: 'Feeling'. She's a person who definitely acts on emotion, she's very compassionate but sparing with her love, I.e she only gives it out to certain people. She loves her family all equally and definitely wants them all to live in harmony. When Alma has some pretty mean things to say to Mirabel, before Antonio's ceremony, Julieta stops her and tells her not to do that, yet in a very compassionate way, "Mamá, don't be mean to Mirabel, you know tonight will be hard for her." It's not completely accusatory, nor is the way she says it, she says: "you know tonight will be hard for her." Giving Alma the benefit of the doubt and telling her that she knows better, inadvertently complimenting her compassion, in a way.
She doesn't want to upset her mother but she also wants to stand up for her daughter. And come on, she's as warm and empathetic as they come.
How do you prefer to live your outer life?
I mean, just going by her profession, I think it's pretty safe to say that she likes deadlines and step-by-step instructions (the cooking recipes all over the kitchen wall, suggesting that even after all these years, she likes to know that what she's doing is correct, even though she should know these steps by heart.) So, judging.
Result:
ISFJ
warm, considerate, gentle, responsible, pragmatic, thorough. Devoted caretakers who enjoy being helpful to others.
I think I hit the nail on the head ngl-
Pepa.
Are you outwardly or inwardly focused?
Pepa definitely thinks outloud, I mean, when we first see her speak she is. Literally, talking up a storm to no-one and everyone. Also, in the same act, she's looking for Antonio, despite how the ceremony isn't ready yet, showing how she likes things to be done quickly. It also shows how she's itching for something to do in these situations, she works fast paced. During Antonio's ceremony, she's being very confident and interactive with her guests, implying how she likes to have the spotlight sometimes. So: Extraversion.
How do you prefer to take in information?
I think she's: 'intuition'; she definitely seems like a dreamer, especially with how easily she can be swayed by romance: "I'm sorry, mi vida, go onnnn", Pepa: why was I angry?🥰😍
Notice the bigger picture: when she sees Antonio before the ceremony, she says: "look at you. All grown up." This isn't a logical thing to say- but in the Madrigal context, Pepa is only thinking of the bigger picture concerning her son.
Describe things in a poetic way? "In doing so he floods my brain!" Nuff said.
How do you prefer to make decisions?
Feeling. Pepa’s powers literally depends on her feelings and in order to process things without hurting anyone (base your decisions on personal values and how your actions affect others) she does so through masking: If she's sad, she's sad but if the sadness is too strong to control, she'll replace it with anger (the whole Bruno situation), this is literally her sacrificing her own health to please others and protect them. And she's incredibly warm and empathetic, just look at how she acts with her kids and Bruno.
How do you prefer to live your outer life?
Judging. I know people like to think that Pepa was a pretty laid back, bad girl teen and I do agree although I think she went about this lifestyle in a much more organised way. I definitely think she likes things to be planned, if something spontaneous happens, she could cause a natural disaster, or at the very least, ruin her outfit.
Result:
ENFJ
Caring, enthusiastic, idealistic, organised, diplomatic, reasonable, skilled communicators who value connection with people.
Bruno.
Are you outwardly or inwardly focused?
Introversion. People would definitely describe him as reserved. He's drifted away from his family, so much so that Casita has adapted to the want for isolation: the stairs of his room and the whole walls situation. He thinks things through his head, I don't think he discloses the majority of his thoughts with anyone, for fear of being wrong or perceived as weird. Definitely would rather observe, we're talking about Bruno Madrigal, come on.
How do you prefer to take in information?
I went back and forth on this one but I'm thinking 'intuitive'. Imagine how things could be: he literally took the biggest risk by hiding away, just for the possibility that Mirabel would be safe. But realistically, there were so many variables against him: how will he survive and not draw suspicion? How will he wash himself? Where would he go? Would Dolores hear him and tell?
His gift requires him to look at the bigger picture, another thing he did in his own, roundabout way for Mirabel’s original vision.
He's an artist, therefore, poetic. He writes plays ffs-
How do you prefer to make decisions?
Feeling, 100%
How your actions affect others? He only took Mirabel’s needs into consideration, completely ignoring his own. He wanted harmony and forgiveness for her and the whole family, neglecting to realise he was apart of it. He's a people pleaser, you can just tell he suffered in silence for years, that confrontation with Alma at the river? That was more than ten years of pent up feelings coming out.
How do you prefer to live your outer life?
Judging. He's definitely not spontaneous. He's a recluse who thrives on familiarity and routine (autistic coded😶) people might say that him going into the walls was spontaneous, however, I argue: not really; him being so ready to leave, suggests how he had already been having thoughts of leaving, probably by way of ending his life. But with his niece and her safety as his main motivation this time, he finally went through with it. He clearly planned his moves well while in the walls: when to get furniture and food, rerouting pipes, stimulating art projects, how to move things without drawing suspicion. Ect.
Result:
INFJ
Idealistic, organised, insightful, dependable, compassionate, gentle. Seek harmony and cooperation, enjoy intellectual stimulation.

Oooh, there is so much I'm excited to share with you!
I'm looking forward to Bruno and Lucía's wedding and their future together with Josefina, and her gift. Get ready for some 90s sitcom Full House-esque shenanigans, fueled by my own experiences with kids and a handful of Bluey references XD. And... *maniacal laughter here* I'm so excited for a few very emotional scenes in the near future - some passionate, some sad, some will definitely make your heart race and I anticipate some yelling indignantly at me, but all necessary to continue laying the foundations of Bruno and Lucía's relationship - their relationship with each other and with his Gift. I'm setting them up for happily ever after but the things that are most worthwhile are never easy. <3

5. Any Encanto pet peeves? Can be canon or fic related. In fic…incest, spouse swapping, godawful characterization. Not sure if this falls under fic or canon since it’s a fandom thing, but Pepa bashing and making her out to be a bad mom/sister/wife with absolutely no proof (no, her having an anxiety attack is not proof). Also people making her out to be a slut. She’s physically affectionate and enjoys physical affection, but I really don’t think she was “easy”. In canon…I guess the only thing would be how rushed the ending was.
12. You’ve gotta kick one canon character out of Encanto. Sorry. Osvaldo, please pack your knives and go.

3. For writers: Something you wish readers knew?
We work very hard to bring you our ideas while also appealing to you. We spend hours upon days plotting, planning writing, rewriting… all we do this for is for stress relief and to make people happy. PLEASE don't hound us for updates, or anything of the like… we are simply anxious balls of self-depreciation and doubt that often get discouraged even on our BEST works when we don't get the outcome we hoped we'd get. Sometimes- even if it's hard to think of something to say, or you feel like you'll be unheard… it's the difference between getting comments and no that influences our motivation. We're fragile beans.
6. Who's your favorite OC and who do they belong to?

8. Smut in fics or keeping it Gen?
As long as it's acceptable smut. Nothing underaged- nothing 'in the family'- nothing with animals- and so long as it doesn't bring the character OUT of their usual personality. Smut is good- kinks are good… just… balance it with the character… and sometimes there are instances when a completely OOC situation will be HOT HOT HOT… for a character- like Bruno being 1000000% dom. That will go against their character… but there's just a time and a place. You know?
Fic writers should be allowed to freely write what they wish… within reason (I say this in terms of no proshipping). =w=

In general: Never feel pressured to comment or gush about how much you like anything I've done - I'm one of those people who never remembers to comment or even follow stuff I like, and I see a lot of posts on writing tumblrs about how comments make them work harder. The fic's gonna be finished comments and kudos or no, I'm not gonna hold it hostage, THAT BEING SAID I love seeing you guys enjoy what I produce and it makes me very happy to see you guys happy.
For candlelight specifically: Reme knows how to fence. It's never going to be plot relevant and it'll most likely never become relevant but it's something I put in her backstory a while ago.

Agustín is such a gentleman, he always opens the door for Julieta and offers his hand to her when there's a bump in the road, most times; he ends up hurting himself in the process while Juli comes out unscathed.
Agustín's vows were very long, yes they were filled with fluff but mostly because he wrote down nearly every accident he came to Julieta with, with each one, he stated how much deeper in love he fell.
He does a goofy, signature, pure Agustín 'ooo!' plus grin when Juli gets dressed in something special. He'll bob on his feet too, like a happy puppy🥺.
While I imagine Félix and Pepa’s music taste to be mostly upbeat and danceable, Julieta and Agustín's is more mellow and smooth, think 'I'm so happy now' by Willie Wright ❤ perfect for graceful dances like that one animation test🥺🥺
People would question why Julieta would like Agustín, Alma too (briefly) but Julieta was always enamoured by him and liked his honesty and clumsy nature, I'm sure a lot of guys would bother her at her stall with minor or fake injuries just to flirt with her (she just gives off 'preferring more feminine men' vibesss)
When Agustín gets drunk, he sometimes forgets Julieta is his wife and flirts with her, asking her on dates and stuff.
One time, when Agustín went to kiss Julieta’s hand, he completely misjudged his position and kissed his own instead. Julieta laughed 'Ay, Agustín.'
Despite the bees, Agustín still gives Julieta flowers every anniversary. Every anniversary he gets stung.

❤🩹- Angsty hc: I feel like being around food since a very young age, constantly, would give her either a dependence on it, or a repulsion. In Julieta’s case, I think it's a dependence. She eats when she's stressed and also gets the urge to cook if she's upset, because it's the only way she feels useful.
📖- AU I'd like to see them in: modern au, modern au, imagine her on a cooking show like bake off and all the family watching ADSFGHFFFKL-
😋- Funny/stupid hc: she gives Agustín raspberry kisses😙😙😙 and sometimes when she's cooking, she'll draw little pictures in the dough before folding it, then laugh to herself, thinking: 'hehehe, no-one will ever know🤭🤪'
🪞- Appearance hc: she's beauty, she's grace, there's no flaw on her face. Seriously tho, between the triplets, I think she probably started getting grey hairs first. All of their jobs are stressful, don't get me wrong, but I think that Julieta standing all day and being in a hot environment, she's prone to exhaustion and pain. Agustín will help massage out those knots, but it still has a mental effect x
🥖- Food hc: chef's palate, because obviously👌👌🤌🤌🤌 she finds the flavour in everything, just like Camilo! She loves combining flavours and experimenting with a variety of ingredients. She'll know when something is objectively rank-tasting but she's got a food critic palate, a taste for everything! Bruno on the other hand...
She's constantly trying to convert him, let's say that.
🛌- Sleep hc: Contrary to her personality, I think she snores very loudly. Agustín does too tho. Their bedroom is the loudest it's ever been when they sleep lol. Yep, they're those parents.... aka mine😫
🏡- Domestic hc: Best mam. She's the first one up, yep, even before Alma! And she uses this time to make everyone specialised breakfasts. When everyone comes downstairs, all the food is inexplicably the right temperature for them. She greets everyone with a good morning and a 'did you sleep well?'. Also, she still tucks Mirabel into bed💗💗💗
Julieta: goodnight, Te amo mi bebita preciosa!
Mirabel: mam!
🗡- Badass hc- as a teenager, when people would bully her brother, she'd make a patch of rock hard bread to throw at them😈😈😈 she's a protective mam and will be very stern to the parents of the children who hurt them.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Maybe some Encanto?

Mirabel tries to find it ironic, how she went from hiding her lack of powers to hiding their existence, but mostly it just makes her sad.
She’s not lying about everything, of course. The town knows that she now holds the miracle. They know that Casita answers only her, now. They know that she can call the earth to move beneath their feet and shift rivers as if they’d never flowed in any other direction.
That’s the point where people got scared. That’s the point where she started lying.
Casita lives in every inch of their home.
Mirabel’s power is Casita’s. The stronger she grows, the more she learns, the more that is within her grasp to manipulate and change and control.
She doesn’t want to hurt anyone. She would never to do anything to upset the villagers or her family.
If it’s easier for them to think that Mirabel’s influence has limits, then that’s what she’ll let them believe.

I once asked what Pedro would assign as the best combination of gifts. Now I need to know what would be the worst gift for everyone?
Oh, there’s a lot of options for everyone. For example, Mirabel and Dolores could be swapped and they’d be just as bad.
But I think this would be the worst combination:
Julieta - communication with animals (would be too motherly and affectionate, probably wouldn’t get much done)
Pepa - weather control via emotions (too emotional)
Bruno - nature manipulation and creation (just kinda useless, not into making things look good)
Isabela - enhanced hearing (she’d be such a gossip)
Dolores - super strength (she doesn’t care for physical work)
Luisa - giftless (she’d the most hardworking, she should have a gift)
Camilo - healing through cooking (he shouldn’t be allowed in a kitchen)
Mirabel - shapeshifting (hates socialising outside the family and can’t act/has stage fright)
Antonio - future vision (he’s a child)
