𓄷 Note: As a member of the Palestinian diaspora, I feel like this is the least I could do to help my people back in our beloved homeland. After 76 years of silence from the world, please do not look away and do not keep quiet – you can make a difference, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

Due to the nature of the blog, I ask that you be at least 18 years old before requesting or interacting.

Character x reader / Platonic!Ortho x reader Summary: How the characters would hug you Warnings: None (that I can think) (english is not my first language)

Riddle Rosehearts: Oh man, he would be so awkward, like, if you are not in an already established relationship he couldn't even hug you. He'd let you hug him but would be stiff as a board.

Ace Trappola: Would totally yank you in and squeeze you so hard but it'll last a maximum of 5 seconds. If you want it to last more you gotta stay wrapped around him, he’ll give in. Hopefully.

Deuce Spade: He’d wrap his arms around your shoulders but he won't press his body to yours, my boy is too respectful. If you don’t care about “decency” and hug him properly he’ll blush like no one’s business.

Cater Diamond: I totally see him hugging your waist and swaying just a bit. If he's feeling cheeky he’d snap a photo so quick you wouldn't even notice until you see it posted on Magicam an hour later.

Trey Clover: He’d be so normal about it. Just a normal hug. Thanks the seven for the one sane dude here.

Leona Kingscholar: No hug. You either snuggle in bed or you give up. But those cuddles, man are they good, you two stay like that for a minimum of 2 hours. The maximum does not exist. If you don’t get out of there yourself, you’ll never leave.

Jack Howl: Also a normal hug, he just wraps his arms around you and stays like that for a time, I see him probably taking in your scent but that’s about it. Please don’t mention the helicopter that is his tail. Please.

Ruggie Bucchi: You hug him and he pickpockets you, that's it, nothing else to say. Sorry.

Azul Ashengrotto: Just from the hug you know a business proposal is coming. I don't know how he does it but he hugs so professionally. If he’s feeling very romantic tho it’ll all be really slow. He’d remove his glasses and nearly hang limp in your arms.

Jade Leech: His hugs also have very business vibes from him but he’d also slowly caress your back, his fingertips softly touching your spine sending you shivers. He knows what he’s doing, don’t let his smile deceive you, he's nothing but a little shit.

Floyd Leech: you know how his hugs are … you don’t need me to tell you…

Kalim Al-Asim: Warm and fuzzy, like hugging the sun itself. I don't even know how his face doesn't hurt with all the smiling he does. He’d 100% make little jumps when and after he hugs you. If extremely happy he’d probably squeal or something. He’s cute like that.

Jamil Viper: The moment you hug him you can both see and feel his body relax, he'd let out a breath and hug you tightly. Bring you closer to his chest. Best believe this in the only moment of peace he’ll have all day, just let him enjoy it.

Vil Schoenheit: You can feel his neck straining to not touch you, god forbid he ruins his make-up. That’ll make you think that he feels like hugging you is a chore or that he doesn’t like it, don't believe that, he loves it. Just wait until it’s the end of the day and all his make-up is gone, once you get in bed you’ll be able to lay your head on his chest and cuddle all night

Еpel Felmier: If you're shorter or taller doesn’t matter, he will wrap his arms around your shoulders and hug you as strongly as he can. Will think it’s manly. Please go along with it or he’ll have a crisis once alone in his dorm room.

Rook Hunk: It's happening when you least expect it. You think you're alone, then boom, you get hugged. He’ll stay there as long as you permit it and will spew poetics non-stop. If you are not one to hug people then he'll absolutely brag about it to everyone and their mother.

Idia Shroud: He won't ever initiate, so it's on you this time around. Whatever type of hug it is, long or short, tight or loose, you won’t be seeing him for at least a month after that, he’ll just be hiding until the end of time ( until you and his brother give him no choice and drag him out of his room).

Ortho Shroud: Will hug you, be so happy about it, and then immediately run to his brother to tell him how good it was and list all the mental and physical benefits of hugs. He just wants to help his brother. Cut him some slack.

Malleus Draconia: He sees a hug as a very intimate affair. If you wait for him to hug you then you better be prepared to wait at least 5 months. If you beat him to it he’ll blush. It's gonna be brief and not exactly satisfactory but be prepared to see a ring very soon. Also, he’ll brag. Loudly.

Lilia Vanrouge: Hug attack. It’s a strong embrace if short. Also will shamelessly laugh at your face afterwards.

Silver: More than a hug, it’s a cuddle, his sleeping is quite infectious and you’ll fall right asleep. One of the best naps of your life.

Sebek Zigvolt: He sees you go in for a hug, sidesteps you, yells about how improper all of it is, and then a second later hugs you anyway. Other than a broken eardrum the hug is unimpressive, not exactly something to write home about. Maybe write to his home, for the medical bills, for your ears.

I’ve seen a fair amount of posts complaining about this arc in Frieren and… we are all entitled to our own opinions etc which is why I will be launching into a Defense of Frieren’s Exam Arc :) Keeping it manga spoiler free since it seems like most of these complaints are from anime-only viewers.

For me the main draw of this arc is the world building. We’ve spent all this time with Frieren and Fern as our main perspectives on magic. Because it’s Frieren, the magics we’ve been hearing about have mostly been a little silly and sweet. But now we’re finding out that 1) “mage” is largely still a combat designation, and 2) Frieren and Fern are actually incredibly jack-of-all-trades when it comes to their magic repertoire. The “magic is visualisation” part is starting to be really leant into and we’re seeing more humans as well who seem to specialise in one magic (steel flowers, rocks, clones, ice and water…) It’s cool!! It’s objectively cool! I love being able to see this range that we wouldn’t have had otherwise! Also it’s fucking fantastic to see how much of a BEAST Fern really is when compared to other human mages. And she doesn’t even seem that aware of it.

Coupled with that is being able to see different people’s philosophies toward magic. I think a lot of viewers are kind of down about the sudden huge influx of side characters who they don’t really care about. But these philosophies—Land’s maximum wait-and-watch, Wirbel and Ubel’s vastly different approaches to killing—keep expanding the world and highlighting Frieren and Fern’s own perspectives. It’s soooo good seeing them react to situations not of their own making and people not of their own kind.

We get to see human society that isn’t a village in the middle of nowhere! We get to see Frieren being forced to socialise! We get to see Fern away from her emotional support elf! We get to see how society has changed since the demon king was defeated! I love that Himmel and co ushered in an era of peace, which it is, and yet the world is still full of conflicts. Truly the story continues after the hero is finished.

To address a few specific complaints I’ve seen brought up:

Frieren isn’t about all these nonstop shounen fights.

Agreed! Which is why it’s cool as hell that Frieren’s main badass shounen strategy is “sit very still for 10 hours”. That aside? There actually hasn’t been much actual fighting. You could probably count up the minutes in which actual spells are being cast and it’ll be something like 2 minutes max in the latest ep20. And that’s because it’s not about who beats who, it’s about the philosophies, the worldbuilding, the ways of thinking about magic. This is not a power-measuring contest, much as Genau would like to make it. And the random lucky draw-ness of the Stilles only plays further into that. It is possible to pass this exam without coming into conflict with others, and certainly without battles to the death. It hasn’t ever been about the shounen fights.

The good part of the show was about the delicate melancholy and that’s totally missing here.

I agree that it’s one of the strong points. But the thing with the melancholy is that it only works when juxtaposed against other moments. A story that’s composed of a bunch of unlinked wistful slice-of-life episodes will eventually fall apart because it has no momentum, no driving force. And ten years to Ende is too long to go without at least some conflict. Also, again, ten-hour bird meditation session?

Anyway, there’s melancholy, but how sad it would be if there was nothing but introspection and wistfulness. Frieren is bringing the memories of Himmel forward with her into the future. That means she has to be moving forward, forging new relationships with unrelated people, going into situations that she hasn’t been in before. A Frieren stuck in the past would be against the themes of the show, of remembering and yet moving on.

Why should I care about them spending ages trying to catch a bird?

You don’t like Stille? 🐤 fweet?

Actually I care lots about this funky thing. Indestructible and goes supersonic fast. That’s fucking hilarious. Bird that simply cannot be contained. Genau is a dick for setting up this kind of exam when, Your Honour, my client Stille does not deserve to be imprisoned.

Too many irrelevant side characters who it’s hard to care about, and they’re gonna be thrown away at the end anyway.

Again, it’s the worldbuilding. And also, mild spoilers for stuff that won’t be covered in the anime, but at least one of these side characters does come back and we get more delicious main character development as a result. Though frankly many of these characters are deeply compelling and interesting to me so I don’t rly get this complaint. Give me more Lawine.

Where’s Himmel? What do these exams have to do with the hero party? Frieren is good because of the links to the past.

Frieren is good because of the links to the past, which affect how Frieren responds to the present. The whole point of Frieren is that Frieren’s life continues. And through her new experiences, she comes to understand and reconnect to the emotions she didn’t realise she felt about her past. I don’t care what Himmel would think of the mage exams, I care what Frieren thinks of them now. And the answer is that she doesn’t really give a damn but she’s in here anyway because Fern strongarmed her into it, and then she was forced to adopt two more kids along the way, and all of that is something she never would have done if she was still hermiting in the Central Lands. Somehow we are still getting Himmel flashbacks anyway? So? He’s still haunting the narrative guys. Just because Frieren isn’t saying “that’s what Hero Himmel would do” out loud in these circumstances doesn’t mean his ghost isn’t here.

Even so, Frieren clearly recognises the name Serie. Do not fear. There is going to be more about links to the past.

I miss Stark.

Fair enough. It’s okay, he’s just on vacation rn. Having an appy juice.

It’s taking too long. The arc is too slow.

It’s only been three episodes… I’ve seen people going “it’s already been three episodes!” but what? Really? Is that considered an excessive amount of time now?? Given the amount of story covered I think it’s quite reasonable? There’s still 8 episodes to go in which we cover the remaining exam stages. Have some patience like Frieren. The payoffs are being set up; they’ll resolve before the end of the mage exam arc. In the meantime, let’s enjoy theorising about the soft magic system and hollering for full auto Fern.

I think the issue more than the simple editing is a) the inability to produce a non edited photo and b) blaming it on Catherine herself. Both of these things are only going to fuel conspiracies - I say this as someone who firmly believes that she is simply recovering from abdominal surgery. But it’s not a stretch to say KP have completely messed up the PR and invited the speculation and continue to do so by not setting it straight properly. So no the blurry steps won’t topple an institution, but the image of said institution as being dishonest and throwing its own Princess of wales under the bus sure doesn’t help

I honestly do not think it’s a big deal. The cheating bullshit has died down and resurfaces every few months with almost no traction. The photo is edited as is literally every single photo released by every single royal in the world. I remember Charlotte’s first Christmas, there was a bunch of discourse about her little shoe on the ground and the shadows associated with the way she was sitting on Kate’s lap. Is Kate a graphic designer? No. The insinuation that she meant something harmful by editing her photo more poorly than usual? That’s batshit, and that will die down. In a week, nobody sane is going to say “we can’t trust our next Queen because she photoshopped a sweater cuff.”

And the team very much did not throw Kate under the bus. The team NEVER would have never signed the statement “-C” without her knowing. They’d be fired so fast they wouldn’t know what hit them. Kate did that herself - like I said the other day, the apology came from Kate, not HRH The Princess of Wales. The conspiracies are nothing. The palace has already reiterated their original information about Kate’s return and the stupid shit will all but disappear once she’s back. Sure, it’ll come back up (the conspiracies and the photo) every once in a while, especially when she inevitably takes a long break in August and while the kids are in school, but after her recovery and return after Easter, this will all be a meme. It’s already a meme - two different people sent me a photoshopped pic of Kate the day after her wedding walking out of BP hand in hand with Pete Davidson. A few weeks of making fun of Kate online is not going to hurt her image. It will die down, as it always does with Kate.

I won’t even say that KP invited the speculation. They said Kate would be back after Easter and reiterated that remained the same after the speculation and #WhereIsKate really took off. There’s nothing left for them to do other than live stream Kate’s recovery and post-surgery treatment and have the doctors give a press conference from the throne room once a week. KP did what they could do. The answer is to let #WhereIsKate roll off their backs until she returns.

They can’t combat the internet. We saw this with Harry and Meghan - they can’t combat the stupid shit every time it arises. The logic we have been trying to apply to the Sussexes all this time holds in this current situation with Kate/KP. Address it once maximum and move on. You cannot stop people from talking, all you can do is move past it.

This is so unserious. It is not a big deal. It reflects mildly on Kate right now in the media and she cannot get out there to directly combat the conspiracy bullshit, but that will end in a few weeks and we’ll go to business as usual in a few weeks after that max. The media forgets quickly and the general population on internet forgets even faster. We’re the ones who will remember because we’re active watchers. We can all collectively come to the rational conclusion that this is not a big deal and will not affect Kate’s reputation long-term if we take ourselves out of our bubble and think about this broadly. Wait until she busts out a tiara or hugs a child or wears a beautiful gown or makes a cheeky comment to William - it’ll all go back to business as usual. Pretty princess who is good with kids. She’s far more than that, as we know, but that’s what the media presents her as, and that’s what it’ll go back to, and that’s what the general public will go back to as well, for the most part.

This has literally no effect on the institution or Kate long term. Currently? Yes, it’s a headline and the talk of the town. But if Kate’s image can weather topless photos, her husband’s alleged cheating, the Sussex bullshit, racism accusations, etc. then it can definitely handle #WhereIsKate and the photoshopped picture. Give it a month or two. It’ll all be water under the bridge.

It is so unserious it’s actually funny.

a/n: Hi! Hello! Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening to all! I am back in action with posting! I think I want to shift to writing mostly Yandere themed fanfics (to play more into the name/theme of the blog) so with this post my ask box is officially open again and I look forward to writing for you all again.

You’ve been a part of Team Rocket for many years now, in fact, it’ll be your 5 years in a few days. You were basically an admin, you were above your fellow henchmen but below the main four admins.

You didn’t mind, it meant less talking for you.

But recently you noticed something…off.

You started to see less and less of your fellow peers. Usually grunts that you would hang out with after shifts started to avoid you like the plague. And you began to see more of the admins.

Ariana would accompany you whenever you had missions, never leaving you alone or allowing you to capture pokemon.

Proton and Petrel were like your personal bodyguards, you couldn’t even breathe without them being near you.

And Archer…he was the worst.

You could be teaching new grunts about the new routes they would be working and the schemes that they will be working.

“Y/n. The Boss said that would be too dangerous for you..”

“Y/n. I need you to be alongside me for this mission. Boss’s orders.”

“Y/n. Boss recommends this change in your uniform.”

You wanted to scream. It was always what the boss wanted for you!

You rarely got to see the male, he was always cooped up in his office or galavanting off in that damned gym of his. It was beyond irritating.

Giovanni was your boss, the big scary boss of Team Rocket/Rainbow Rocket. And you only saw him a maximum of three times, and the most recent time was two weeks ago.

You were being briefed on a mission, you were being sent off with Jesse, James and Meowth, a trio you loved working with so much due to their spunk and their energy. While you were walking past him, you felt eyes on you. When you looked up you locked eyes with Giovanni.

It felt wrong locking eyes with your boss, especially since so many people feared him.

However when you looked into his eyes...you saw something different.

Not only that, you felt like there were eyes on you at all times, even when you were in your most private of settings. You felt like he had someone watching your every mood so he knew everything.

And that day in his office, the way he looked at you solidified the thoughts you were thinking.

He stared at you with emotions you can't describe, one could only describe it as obsession.

So you quickly ran to go join Jesse and James.

You considered those three to be your only sense of normalcy, as they were the only ones who didn’t run to avoid you.

Ever since that day of the meeting, the rest of the team seemed to officially separate themselves from you. You would walk up to hold a conversation with some you thought were your friends and they would sneer at you and walk away.

Some who even hold fear in their eyes as they saw you approaching and even averted their gazes.

You were walking with Jesse and James through the team rocket headquarters, expressing your feelings about this whole situation.

“I don’t know Jesse..I feel weird about this..no one else gets treated like this..”

“No you’re valid in your feelings darling…The boss is usually a cold fellow.”

Jesse had a hand on your shoulder as she talked to you. You sighed and ran a hand through your hair. It was stressing you out as you continued to think about it.

Why were you the only one being singled out?

Were you going to be fired? Or worse, were you going to be excuted because you knew too much?

James could sense your stress and wrapped an arm around your shoulder to try and calm you down. It was all becoming too much and you were really thinking about quitting.

"G-guys..I think I should quit."

"I- well I would hate to see you go sweetheart, but if you're uncomfortable you should.

“For once, I agree with Jesse. It’s strange that the admins would show this much attention to-”

“Y/n.”

The three of you freeze and you slowly turn to face Archer, he had opened the door that led to the hallways to Giovanni’s office. You felt a chill go down your spine as you turned to look at Jesse and James who both gave you small waves and smiles as they left.

You went to follow Archer as he led you to the office.

You had a bad feeling come over you as Archer approached the door, he gave you a small smile before opening the door for you.

“The Boss is inside waiting for you. He said it was urgent.”

You nodded at him and walked into the room.

"Oh. And I wouldn't think about quitting, Y/n."

You froze in your spot. Turning back to face Archer.

He only gave a dark smirk "You're Special."

Archer left you in the hallway and you were left to walk to the office by yourself.

His office was dark, it was quiet besides the purring of Persian, who greeted you at the door.

“Good Afternoon, Y/n..please take a seat.”

You walked over to the seat in front of his desk, watching as he slowly turned in his chair, his legs crossed as he stared ahead at you.

Giovanni wasn’t an ugly man, he was very attractive actually. But there was something about him that was just terrifying to you. And not just because he was your boss.

there was something…darker lurking behind his eyes.

"Welcome, Y/n." His voice was the same as usual, cocky as hell. But there was an undertone in his voice, one that you couldn't recognize at all.

“I know you’re wondering why I called you here, darling.” he started, not breaking eye contact with you at all. The pet name was new, he usually only called you grunt or you girl.

Not Darling.

Giovanni stood up and came around his desk. “I feel like you’re destined to be more…” He smirks and walks over to you, stopping a few feet away.

“W-what do you mean?..” You asked and Giovanni chuckled at your question.

You shot up straight in your chair, staring at Giovanni with widened eyes. “What!?”

“Don’t be surprised. You’re perfect. You’re a great worker, you don’t allow anyone to control you, you continue to do amazing things. And I need you permanently beside me.”

Giovanni walks over to you and places a hand under your chin. “You belong beside me. We could be a power couple together.”

You backed away from him, making a beeline towards the door, only to be blocked by Persian. The Pokémon knew how its master felt about you, and therefore was going to help its master keep you around.

"Don't you run, Y/n. It's not like you can go anywhere. Everyone in team rocket knows of your special promotion~"

You went to go around Persian by reaching for your own Pokémon, you weren't going down without a fight.

But it seems your boss had other plans.

You heard Giovanni sigh and the sound of a Pokeball opening.

“MewTwo. Use Psychic.”

You barely had time to get out the door before you felt your body be lifted in the air and be turned back around to face Giovanni.

He held a smirk on his face as he commanded MewTwo to bring you closer to him. You get brought back directly to him and he pats your cheek.

“I’ll let everyone know you’ve been promoted. They are to refer to you as Admin Y/n. You are to report directly to me, if someone speaks to you out of term, if someone is rude. You. Tell. Me.”

He says sternly, before placing both hands on your cheeks. You stared at him scared out of your mind seeing the sinister grin on his lips. His eyes held pure obsession, greed, like a child who just got their hands on a toy they had been wanting for years now.

And his next words scared your even more.

Hey! So i must i adore you analysis on Wolfwood as you compared his story beats to maximum and how they got changed, something that I dont really see people commenting on

I must say however, do you think vash and wolfwood are bound to have the same kind of relationship they had in trimax? I adore stampede like crazy and was enjoying it so much until around ep 10/11 where it got cleared they were very much going a seemingly different route than what we thought. And to be honest the moment i saw they pumped Knives and Vash dynamic like crazy got me thinking tristamp will be completely about them and not also Vash and WW/others (which i think is as important as K and V for trigun to work out) or tristamp will be mostly Vash and Knives and WW and Livio.

You seek to have a super optimistic (lol) look for s2 and beyond so i wonder if you think (either by beats laid out by tristamp, maybe i am too blind or pessimistic to realize them) there may be something similar to vash and wolfwood’s relationship in trimax???

Oh man, thank you so much!!! I’m honestly so happy that people even read that rambling because it’s been driving me absolutely bonkers. (I’m just gonna link that post here in case anyone’s interested)

But tl;dr: I think that it’ll be similar! Honestly, I think the Vash and Wolfwood dynamics have to be similar, because that’s such an integral part of Trimax. I jokingly called it the Vash and Wolfwood show to a friend when I started reading it—and yeah, that sums up a lot. Though I REALLY see your worries about this. I think we got a much heavier dose of Vash and Knives to really make the stakes super personal, but I have a feeling Knives will fall into the more distant role he takes in Trimax because, as he says, Nai is dead. Long live Knives.

Tristamp season one is a prologue, confirmed by the team very purposefully calling the continuing work the final phase despite saying the sky is the limit on future content depending on fan support. It speed ran a lot of stuff, and I think that was knowingly done because the staff has stated multiple times that they needed everything to be as perfect as possible, but they didn’t know how it would do. I don't even know if they thought they could do a second season. Trigun has historically not been popular outside of the cult following ’98 had in the west—Trimax was just an afterthought that many fans hadn’t read before Tristamp grabbed us all by the throats.

To touch on the other relationships, I like that Tristamp is that it's already expanding on characters that I felt could have spent more time in the spotlight. Like, I'm very eager to see where they take the girls! Because Meryl’s falling into the same role but with a vastly different career in this, and she’s already way more present . Why are they following Vash? How present will the girls be? MILLY!!! With Meryl ripping down Vash’s wanted poster at the end of season one, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s her mission to clear Vash’s name, and hijinks ensue. She already has deeper ties to Wolfwood than any other version before, which makes both of them stronger for it. I’m nervous to see how this all plays out because change scares me and I love this story so much lmao, but I do think it’s good! I already went off about how I love how important Meryl already is in the story, she’s a foil to Vash and the faith in himself he never had, and I feel like that only strengthens and reflects against the foils Vash and Wolfwood have going on. And Milly! I’m so excited to see where they go with her.

But this does change everything with Wolfwood. I keep thinking that Tristamp has changed Wolfwood fundamentally and keep needing to go back and rewatch because he is Wolfwood. He’s younger and rougher around the edges, but he’s still that moron I know and love. (Sometimes I’ll be reading fic and I don’t even realize that the person’s only seen Tristamp because they just get him and the dynamic right—Orange is doing a good job even if it scares me deeply lol)

I do have complete faith that they need to and will let Vash and Wolfwood’s dynamic shine just as brightly as it does in Trimax. I think, actually, a lot of that comes from outside of the text, though I could probably do another rewatch to pick up on all the loose threads they’re laying down to grow Wolfwood’s character and his dynamic with Vash in particular.

First, a new bit of info I saw recently is that the director, Kenji Muto? Apparently hasn’t even seen ’98, or at least hadn’t seen it as of making season one. Of course there are other writers on staff, and the crew has admitted to being huge Trigun nerds, but if your only exposure to Trigun is Trimax??? Wolfwood is massively important to Vash. Doing that dirty would be greatest sin you could make against this franchise.

Second, Nightow is so involved in creating this. He was involved way before most manga authors are brought in on anime, and even said that pretty early on he basically gave it his blessing and said that they got Trigun. (Though he still approved everything from then on as well.) And Wolfwood and his story arc in Trimax is so powerful and so moving. Nightow obviously had some significant investment and emotion in it, in Wolfowod and Vash’s relationship and journey. Like, I cry at things sometimes, generally just ooze tears, but Nightow and this damn manga made me sob. I can’t imagine he would tell the crew they understood Trigun without Wolfwood’s character and his ties to Vash being a priority. I know typically Japanese creators won’t throw shade at adaptations like we see in Western realms, but I rarely see the level of enthusiasm Nightow has for this project.

Okay, because this is getting long, and I’m getting into Trimax spoilers next, putting this next bit under a cut, continue at your own risk.

It’s actually funny, because for the end of that Wolfwood post, before I started my rewatch for it, I originally had a pretty specific prediction about what would happen. Then the ‘sky’s the limit’ on future content came out, and idk what to expect. I thought that the next season was going to be the Vash and Wolfwood show ala Trimax, we were going to fall in love with Wolfwood, and we were gonna have him couched at the end of that season. Because the couch is so essential, it’s so critical, but my god do I want this man to survive the narrative, if only once, and have it mean just as much. (Can you tell I’m torn on this every second of every day of my entire life) And after writing up that whole post I’m even more confused because I have no idea where the fuck they’re taking him. But at the same time, we have major plot threads tying us to that scene so much earlier. The vials existing way earlier, Livio and Razlo being introduced, that line about grieving but still deserving to smile and eat that Wolfwood gives Vash in the episode he’s introduced??? We're making everything more coherent and tied together, and fuck, we're screwed.

For now, all I’ve got is that I think some shit is going to happen to Wolfwood during our two-year time skip, maybe something with Chapel, idk how they’re going to inevitably use Livio against us, but we saw a softer Wolfwood in Tristamp. He needs to harden to be who we know. Orange said they’re going to be more like their other selves here, and though Wolfwood already has some faith in Vash, but he does not have faith in humanity. That’s the growth we have yet to see, and that’s what is really at the core of their relationship and development. It’s still there.

Many people who read Trimax are absolutely gutted and wrecked by the couch. That defines a lot of readers’ experiences—Wolfwood’s character arc is an absolute masterclass in writing a satisfying and meaningful conclusion for a character. So for them to change this much about someone who is that important, they have to have a plan, and a damn good one for Nightow to sign off on it. I’ve seen folks talk about how apparently the team spent the most time working on Knives, Vash, and Wolfwood’s characters (this one I haven't seen a source for), but as you said, we can already see it in the brothers’ relationship. They have a plan for Wolfwood. It’s only a matter of time before we’re wrecked by it.

Yeah, they are gonna keep doing stuff that you or I won’t agree with, or that we think could be better. Every version of Trigun is pretty flawed in certain ways imo, even though it might be beautiful or a favorite piece of media. But all of the concerns of mine that Orange could answer in the first season, they did so with flying colors and blew me out of the water. So don’t get me wrong, I’m scared. I’m so fucking terrified. Both Vash and Wolfwood are my favorite characters in Trigun in such different, integral ways to me. I love them deeply. And Orange is changing so much.

But Orange adores Trimax as much as I do. Nightow is 500% on board. So I’m biting my nails about it, but I choose to have faith. We’ll get wrecked by this adaptation, and I’d bet money on it if I had any lol

hi I hope I’m not bothering you. I’d like to start writing fanfics and since you are my favorite writer on here I thought you could give me some advice ? 🥺

Hiya!! Absolutely I can.

1) Don’t force yourself. If you take requests and one of them doesn’t inspire you or something, don’t force yourself. Don’t write things that make you uncomfortable.

2) Don’t rush, take a deep breath and allow yourself all the time you need to write your fics, they’ll only come out better.

3) You don’t have to appeal to everyone. Some people will dislike your work, you’ll get some hate through anons. Who cares. You don’t have to appeal to everyone.

4) Write the story YOU want to write. Don’t sacrifice your plot to make people happy.

5) Research what you’re writing about. I love writing about Brienne/Jane Murdstone because it’ll have me scavenging for knowledge on the medieval/Victorian era. Research, research,research.

Now, things that I personally find important in fics but not everyone would agree with:

6) Grammar, punctuation and conjugation are super important. And, of course, everyone makes mistakes (I definitely do!!) but always make sure to reread your work multiple times, get a beta reader or even use a grammar checking website. I’ll be your beta reader if you’re interested!

7) Characterisation. I just won’t read a fic where the character is completely OOC.

8) Prefer shorter titles, they grab readers’ attention more efficiently. I try to keep mine around 2-3 words. I think 5 words should be the maximum.

9) If you publish your work on Tumblr, please for the love of GOD, use the “read more” option. I hate having to scroll through thousands of words when I’m using this app.

10) Paragraphs!!! If I open a fic and it’s only composed of a single thousand-words block, I’m immediately out.

11) Add TW. If you don’t want to add them at the beginning of your chapter (to prevent spoilers or else), put them in your #. That way people who have those blocked won’t come around your post.

Six Sentence Sunday

When I started writing this post it was still Sunday here in the UK, so here goes nothing!

Thanks for all the tags recently for WIPs days. I'm always so blown away by the creativity in this fandom, and by how everyone hypes everyone else up. This fandom is something truly special, and I am so grateful to have fallen into it like I did.

I'm pretty sick at the moment (food poisoning + a cold = a very tired and confused Jess), so I don't have the brain power to go back and tag everyone who has tagged me, but just know I see your posts and I am so excited by what you're all working on!!

As a direct result of SickJess being in the drivers seat this week, I'm going to have to delay chapter 8 of Trails for a few days, maybe even up to a week. I don't have the brain space to consider serious edits (and boy does this chapter need some serious editing!) and one of my beta's isn't doing to hot either, so this one will be slow going. This chapter is also chonky for me (6.6k, whereas I tend to write between 2k-5k maximum per chapter), so there's a lot to go through.

TL;DR: I'm sick, editing is a long process, brain no English gud right now, chapter 8 delayed slightly.

That being said, here's a (currently unedited) snippet from chapter 8.

“Who are we meeting?” I ask, breaking the quiet. There isn’t a lot of traffic on the roads tonight, just the odd cab that splashes through the surface water. It’s eerie to see London this quiet, at any time, day or night. “Hush, Snow,” Baz says, not looking at me and nestling further into the collar of his coat. That gets my hackles up. “It’ll look strange if we just stand here not talking. Anyone could see us out here.” I make a point of glancing around to drive my point home, but also because I don’t trust that the Now Next don’t have eyes and ears everywhere. He sighs sharply. “We’re talking now, aren’t we?” “You know what I mean,” I growl. “Fine, Snow.” Baz shifts slightly, takes a short sharp inhale, then leans back against the railing again. “We’re waiting on someone from the Coins and Medals department. My contact said he’d be able to let us in after ten.” I make a show of looking at my watch. “He’s late.” “I know,” Baz grinds out. “And why is someone who studies coins seeing us about a map and a ring?” “The department deals in more than numismatics, Snow.” “Do they speak English?” He gives me an imperious eyebrow, which pisses me right off. “Don’t be a prat,” I huff, resting against the fence and staring out at the street.

My general predictions/hopes about what’s going to happen with Jaime and Brienne in the books. Spoiler alert for the entirety of ASOIAF along with the released TWOW chapters. Also for a few plot points from Game of Thrones. Long post ahead.

1. Confrontation with LSH and the Brotherhood. My guess is that Brienne does bring Jaime to them and agrees to execute Jaime herself, only to turn and kill Lady Stoneheart. Jaime and Brienne (and possibly Pod and/or Hyle, I have no clue if they’re going to survive or not) will escape with the help of Thoros doing some red magic (in AFFC he’s clearly disillusioned with the BwB and is also still grateful to Brienne for her actions at the Inn at the Crossroads. They’re also going to get some help from Arya’s wolf pack in the Riverlands. It’ll be heartbreaking to have the parallel of Arya in warg form taking her mother’s body out of the river versus bringing her back after she dies.

2. Meanwhile, in King’s Landing, Cersei, already in an extremely volatile and paranoid headspace, will dig for information on Jaime’s whereabouts as well as information on his relationship with Brienne. GRRM has helpfully placed three men in King’s Landing who can give Cersei information. Qyburn will tell Cersei about how Jaime turned back on the way to King’s Landing to rescue Brienne. Randall Tarly will tell Cersei about the letter Brienne had signed from Tommen and will probably be able to deduce Jaime gave it to her. And finally, if there’s any confusion about how Jaime really feels, Ronnet Connington will tell Cersei all about the golden slap. Cersei will formally announce Jaime is no longer a member of the Kingsguard.

3. Brienne will still be suffering from her previous wounds as well as new ones she took in battle. Jaime, with or without Hyle and Pod, will bring her to the Quiet Isle. Remember the whole rule about men and women sharing rooms? Yeah. Assuming they are alive, Hyle will refuse to do it since Brienne very explicitly rejected his offer and Pod won’t even consider it because Brienne is basically his mom. Jaime will also refuse, citing his kingsguard vows, until the Elder Brother informs him he is no longer on the kingsguard. They don’t consummate the marriage. In fact they don’t even kiss ideally. Maximum pining and angst ensues because they both by now understand their feelings for each other but are completely convinced the other couldn’t possibly reciprocate those feelings. Jaime will offer to have it annulled once they leave, and Brienne won’t be able to admit she doesn’t want that (though being married to Jaime Lannister isn’t the best way to endear her to any Starks) Once Brienne is sufficiently healed, she (and Pod if he’s alive. Hyle will probably go out on his own and exit the narrative) will resume her quest. Jaime will be torn about a wanting to join her, but recalls his duty to his men and, more urgently, Tommen. They’ll part ways. For some reason I am convinced that Jaime is going to get down on a knee, kiss her hand, and thank her for not only keeping him alive but also making him want to be a better person.

4. Brienne will find Sansa Stark and help rescue her from Pedophile Baelish. They’ll start heading North since Sansa assumes that Jon is her only surviving sibling. Sansa will be super wary and uncertain of Brienne at first, but will soon realize Brienne is the knight in shining armour who actually believes in and follows the ideals of knighthood that Sansa has always dreamed of. Brienne will bring Sansa to Castle Black, where she’ll be reunited with a resurrected Jon Snow. One thing that pissed me off about the show is that there was basically no change in Jon’s character after he came back to life. In the books other characters who come back to life are quite changed afterwards. I’m curious what post-resurrection Jon Snow will be like. Anyway Sansa and allies will take back Winterfell. Theon and Jeyne will end up there as well, and Theon will tell Jon and Sansa that he didn’t actually kill Bran and Rickon.

5. Jaime will get back King’s Landing just after Cersei blows up the sept of baelor (one of the few show moments that I am convinced will occur in the books, but I don’t think everyone of note will die. I do however think some of the consequences will be the same, namely that Margaery will be killed and a distraught Tommen will commit suicide, and meanwhile Myrcella will die in the attack Cersei had planned to use to kill Trystane. Cersei will initially arrest Jaime in anger but given her grief and fear she will forgive him, or appear to. With news of Aegon’s impending invasion, she’ll suggest blowing up the whole city before Aegon arrives, Aerys Targaryen style. And like Aerys, Jaime will kill Cersei, fulfilling the valonqar prophecy. Also think Brienne will be the younger and more beautiful, the beauty in this case being internal. Jaime will be extremely traumatized by this. He won’t remain in King’s Landing, and will set off with Ilyn Payne and Addam Marband to Winterfell (by this point the situation with the white walkers is more widely known and they are joined by other people wanting to fight for the living)

6. Reunited in Winterfell, Brienne will vouch for Jaime and Sansa, acting as Lady of Winterfell will agree to let Jaime live. However, he’ll still be met with hostility, not to mention guilt over killing Cersei and also the deaths of his children (at least 2 of them anyway…)

7. Meanwhile, Dany will take over in King’s Landing (idk what’s gonna happen with Aegon, if it really is him, but one way or another Dany makes her way back to Westeros and becomes Queen thanks to the help of dragons, but society will be pretty divided about wanting a Targareyan back on the Iron Throne. Anyway she’ll agree to send troops up North, sending Tyrion to supervise and loaning him a dragon to help in the fight. I am convinced Tyrion is gonna ride a dragon.

8. Since he very well might be executed or killed or turned into a zombie at any second, Jaime confesses his feelings to Brienne and they’ll get together in earnest. Also, another show beat I think will happen is Jaime knighting Brienne.

9. Now there are two possibilities. The first is that Jaime is killed fighting the white walkers. Is is too predictable and cliche that he’ll get Brienne pregnant before he dies? Yes. It’ll still happen if he does die, I think. When the war with the white walkers is over, Brienne will go to Tarth and become the Evenstar. But if Jaime survives:

10. In the scenario I am hopeful will happen, Jaime will assume a fake identity (the way I interpret his dream is that he is forced to sever himself from the Lannister name to avoid death) and become Brienne’s trophy husband on Tarth. She’ll be the Evenstar, and she and Jaime will probably have some kids. Also he’ll get to see Duncan’s shield!

And yeah that’s about it.

oh man. when i tell ya, this story fuckin spiraled

the original plan was to have a transformation story. instead of vessel being first tho, i wanted him to be last, for maximum hurt/comfort potential.

and then i kept adding shit.

the story, by this point, is probably going to be at least 50 chapters. The outline itself is probably 2,000 words. there’s four posted chapters and at least one or two unpublished ones. they haven’t even met in person to the public lmao

in the opening chapters i fought really hard to keep the band anonymous. I didn’t use vessel, ii, iii, and iv, though, because there wasn’t a reasonable for them yet. it was A Pain In The Ass, to say the least.

each of the vessels is associated with an element. yes, it’s important, no i will not elaborate. in due time :)

this is actually my first story. the idea wouldn’t leave me alone, so i eventually caved and started fleshing it out more. and more. and more. it’s basically a hodgepodge of every single sleep token fic i’ve ever read and liked (which is pretty much all of them)

there’s a post somewhere on here that essentially says “evil sleep is great and all, but it’s more funny to think of sleep as dragging reluctant vessel into getting therapy” and i took that and fucking ran with it. it’ll definitely be a bit heavy at times, but i want it to be very lighthearted overall.

you said you liked the dry humor in the first chapter of watch me ascend? that’s the tone for the vast majority of crash course. it’s written in comic sans, for reference. iii is the nickname king :)

it hasn’t been updated since march. i swear, i still think about it pretty much daily, but i had a chapter count for watch me ascend. it was finite. crash course could damn well take me YEARS to finish.

so good news! yall are stuck with me for a while :)

After 3 days of just dogfighting practice without having to do the pushups, they sat in old airliner seats, eyes on the screens. “Time is your greatest enemy. Phase one of the mission will be a low-level ingress attack in two-plane teams. You’ll fly along this narrow canyon to your target. Radar-guided surface-to-air missiles defend the area. These SAMS, they’re lethal. But they were designed to protect the skies above, not the canyon below,” Maverick started, pointing to the presentation screen showing the schematics. “That’s because the enemy knows no one is insane enough to try and fly below them,” Bradley spoke up. “That’s exactly what I’m gonna train you to do. On the day, your altitude will be 100 feet maximum. You exceed this altitude… Radar will spot you and you’re dead. Your airspeed will be 660 knots minimum. Time to target: Two and a half minutes.” Ria gave Elliot a sidelong glance. This mission was going to be hard on their bodies and they haven't even learned the objective yet. “Fifth-generation fighters wait at an air base nearby. In a head-to-head with these planes in your F-18s, you’re dead. That’s why you need to get in, hit your target, and be gone before these planes even have a chance of catching you. This makes time your greatest adversary. You’ll fly a route in your nav system that simulates the canyon. The faster you navigate this canyon, the harder it’ll be to stay under the radar of these enemy SAMS. The tighter the turns, the more intensely the force of gravity on your body multiplies, compressing your lungs, forcing the blood from your brain, and impairing your judgment and reaction time. So for today’s lesson, we’re gonna take it easy on you. Max ceiling: 300 feet. Time to target: Three minutes. Good luck,” Maverick finished explaining.

“Time to target is one minute 30. We are two seconds behind. Increase to 480 knots,” Denver advised. “We got to move, Fritz,” Ria called out. They had been paired with Fritz for the first run. “Copy. Increasing speed.” They were coming up on a tight curve. “Oh!” Fritz grunted, starting the turn too fast, and slammed on his brakes. “Oh, shit!” Ria hissed pulling up so she’d avoid crashing into him. Beeping sounded, alerting them to the fact that they broke the ceiling and were ‘Killed.’ “Why are they dead?” Maverick asked the group when they were back in the classroom. “We broke the 300-foot ceiling, and a SAM took us out,” Ria said stoically. Maverick shook his head turning to Fritz. “No. Why are they dead?” he asked. “I slowed down and didn’t give her a warning. It was my fault,” he said immediately. “Was there a reason you didn’t communicate with your team?” Maverick asked. “I was focusing on-” Maverick cut him off. “One that their family will accept at the funeral,” he said rather harshly. Ria’s jaw clenched. “None, sir,” he said, looking down at his hands. “Why didn’t you anticipate the turn? You were briefed on the terrain,” Maverick asked turning to Ria. She opened her mouth to speak but was stopped short. “Don’t tell me. Tell it to his family.” She didn’t say anything, choosing to instead look down at her lap. Elliot took her hand in his and gave it a reassuring squeeze, silently telling her that it was just a practice run and that they’d get it next time.

“Hangman, ease up. The canyon’s getting tighter,” Payback called out. “Negative, payback. Increase your speed,” Hangman’s arrogant voice came through the speaker. “You’re going too fast, man,” Fanboy said. “No harm in being ahead of schedule,” Hangman stated simply. “Damn it, slow down! I can’t stay on the course!” Payback yelled. “You’re gonna hit the wall! Watch out! Watch out!” Fanboy yelled before there was silence as they were ‘killed.’ “What happened?” Maverick asked when they were back in the classroom. “I flew as fast as I could. Kind of like my ass depended on it,” Jake said. “And you put your team in danger, your wingman’s dead,” Bradley spoke up. “They couldn’t keep up,” Jake said simply and Ria shook her head disappointedly at his words.

“Rooster, we’re 20 seconds behind and dropping,” Yale called out. “We’re fine. Speed is good,” Rooster responded. “Increase to 500 knots,” Yale said. “Negative, Yale. Hold your speed,” Rooster ordered. “Rooster, we’re late!” Harvard yelled. “We’re alive. We’ll make up time in the straightaway,” Rooster told him. “We are not gonna make it,” Yale argued. “Just trust me. Maintain your speed. We can make it.” Jake gave Ria a pointed look and she sighed. When the three aviators were back in the classroom Maverick pointed at the time. “Why are you dead? You’re the team leader up there. Why are you- why is your team dead?” Maverick asked. “Sir, he’s the only one who made it to the target,” Phoenix defended him. “A minute late,” Maverick sighed. “He gave enemy aircraft time to shoot him down. He is dead.” Bradley shook his head. “You don’t know that.” Jake turned to him. “You’re not flying fast enough,” he told him. “Man, on the day, the canyon will be tighter, we’ll be pulling even higher G’s, and the missiles will be real,” Javy chimed in, backing him up. “You don’t have a second to waste,” Jake finished.

“We made it to the target,” Bradley argued. “And superior enemy aircraft intercepted you on your way out,” Maverick said. “Then it’s a dogfight,” Bradley said simply. “Oh Jeez,” Elliot murmured from beside Ria. “Against fifth-generation fighters?” Maverick asked. “Yeah. We’d still have a chance,” Bradley told him. “In an F-18?” Maverick narrowed his eyes. Bradley leaned forward in his chair. “It’s not the plane, sir, it’s the pilot,” he said. “Exactly!” Maverick exclaimed. There was a moment of tense silence. “There’s more than one way to fly this mission,” Bradley says finally, leaning back in his seat. “You really don’t get it. On this mission, a man flies like Maverick here, or a man does not come back. No offense intended,” Jake said looking at Natasha, Callie, and Ria. “Yet somehow you always manage,” Bob said leaning forward from his seat beside Nat. “Look, I don’t mean to criticize. You’re conservative, that’s all.”

“Lieutenant,” Maverick warned. “We’re going into combat, son, on a level no living pilot’s ever seen. Not even him. That’s no time to be thinking about the past.” Ria’s brows furrowed. “What’s that supposed to mean?” Bradley asked. “Rooster,” Maverick says trying to get his attention. “I can’t be the only one that knows that Maverick flew with his old man.” Ria sent Jake a warning glare. “Don’t go there, Jake,” she said. “That’s enough,” Maverick said trying to diffuse the tension. “Or that Maverick was flying when his old man…” Jake trailed off. “Lieutenant, that’s enough!” Maverick shouted as Bradley lunged, grabbing for Jake’s collar. In an instant it's chaos. "Oh yeah, you mean like how you were with Rhett when he went down," Bradley yelled. A few gasps rang out from the other aviators. “That’s enough!” Ria yelled getting in the middle of the two, shoving Bradley away from Jake, allowing those closest to them to grab each of the men and hold them apart. “You son of a bitch!” Bradley yelled, pointing at Jake. “Hey, come on!” Rueben yelled keeping a tight grip on Bradley. Jake chuckled brushing the ones holding him back off, “I’m cool, I’m cool. Hey, hey.” Ria was glaring daggers at both of them. “That’s enough,” Maverick said looking each of the aviators in the eyes. The room was filled with heaving breaths for a moment. “He’s not cut out for this mission,” Jake said. “That’s enough!” Ria hissed at him. “You know it. You know I’m right,” Jake said to Maverick before walking out. “You’re all dismissed,” Maverick said waving them off.

Ria took a moment to herself in the women's locker room, trying to will the few tears that had begun to gather in her eyes away as she leaned against her open locker. There on the door of her locker were pictures of her and Rhett, one of them on a carrier and another of them at Top Gun. What Jake had said was wrong but it was also a low blow for Bradley to counter Jake's words with those of her brother. Some days it’s easier, but on days like today, the grief that came with losing her other half hit her particularly hard. Her phone buzzed and lit up the inside of her locker. Come home tomorrow. Ria’s brow furrowed as another message came through. That’s an order. The young ones want to see you. She shook her head before replying back. Yes sir. Goodnight Dad, I’ll see you tomorrow.
