just finished watching batman vs the teenage mutant ninja turtles and tumblr you have failed me. WHERE IS THE CONTENT. i have so many feelings about this movie and they may be incoherent but here we go. bit of a longer post so i cut it here

first of all this is probably my new favorite piece of batman media i loved almost everything about this movie.

starting the movie off strong with my wife barbara gordon. she was so funny in this movie and i loved how much of her smarts and fighting skills were shown cause she can do it allll.

bruce was a little grumpy but when he eventually came around and listened to raph’s speech and agreed that they’re a family i was like 🥹🥹 this is the batman i wanna see.

mikey and alfred’s friendship 💗💗 would love to see alfred actually using mikey’s skateboard.

speaking of mikey I LAUGHED SO HARD THE ENTIRE TIME CAUSE OF HIM 😭😭 his entire vibe killed me lmfao. he was so unserious and i love that about him.

donnie came through as usual and him and babs being the smart duo who wear purple was very nice it made me smile. also it was very cute how often he hid in his shell.

raph was impulsive as usual but he also came through like always. i didn’t expect him to be the one to give the speech but i realized it was actually very fitting.

damian was a little whitewashed unfortunately but his very obviously going through puberty voice was adorable cause he kept trying to be intimidating but i couldn’t take him seriously. i thought he would mention that ra’s was his grandfather to the turtles as a shock factor but it didn’t bother me all that much. i liked his team up with raph bc they’re both secretly softies on the inside.

leo i love you sorry i don’t have a lot to say but keep being eldest daughter coded.

i do wish the rest of the batfamily had been there cause i think it would’ve been nice to see how similar they are to each other and also just explore their dynamics but if we get a sequel maybe they can do something about that. i wanna see jason and raph team up (if jason is red hood in this universe). and maybe HOPEFULLY (not very hopeful at all 😔) we can get the ENTIREE batfamily introduced. i know it’s based on comics and stuff though so i don’t know how they would work that out i’m just rambling. oh i also think we should see splinter!! he and bruce could bond over their teenage vigilante children.

idc about everyone else but i will say ra’s saying “maybe another needs to die” in reference to jason was UNCALLED FOR.

I LOVE LOVE horror and scary things, I can't imagine my life without it, its just a such interesting genre that makes me happy and intrigued! I adore horror games and I'm mostly interested in them, however most of the time I am scared of playing them so I just watch gameplays and stuff like that haha. You can say I am obssesed with horror! (its funny because its easy to scare me haha) I also love cute things! Plushies, pink, clothes and other cute things! I just love it so much <3 I like games very much (I suck at them), art, anime, drawing and psychology! When it comes to music I love energetic ones! I dislike slow music but there can be some exceptions.

I dislike cooking (I love when someone knows to cook however I suck at it </3), stressful and serious situations (I stress a lot)

An unnecessarily long post as to why the Creed movies get on my nerves even though no one asked:

Sooo my friend and I made it our mission to watch the whole Rocky franchise, which consists of 6 Rocky movies and 3 spin off Creed movies. We've seen all of the movies except for Rocky 6. Imo the Rocky movies are generally fun and enjoyable, while the Creed movies are mostly boring and annoying....

The Rocky films can range from good to, not necessarily bad,,, but boring I think would be a better word. Although, I think that the blandness in the films can be excused due to the fact that the movies don't take themselves very seriously and you don't go into a Rocky sequel with the expectation of greatness lol. Rocky is very charming imo because he's a pathetic himbo. In the first movie he's involved with the mob but they didn't even like him because he would refuse to beat people up😭. He's poor, uneducated, kind, and he's only a boxer because he "can't sing or dance". The movies give you an actual reason to root for him (even if irl he probably would not have won some of his matches, but like I said it doesn't matter because the movies are unserious lol).

Some context for Creed I: in Rocky 1, Rocky's opponent is Apollo Creed, who later becomes his friend and mentor. In Rocky 4, Apollo dies.

ANYWAYS... the Creed movies follow Adonis Creed, who is Apollo Creed's illegitimate son that he had via an affair. In Creed I, Adonis is an amateur boxer and he seeks out Rocky so that he can train him for a fight. He also meets his girlfriend (and eventual wife) named Bianca. She is an up and coming musician as well as very erm.... ANNOYING💀. Her character is not very interesting and she overreacts about the dumbest things. Also there is a scene where Bianca and Adonis have sex on the couch while Rocky is sleeping in an armchair in the same room... THEY HAVE SEX IN FRONT OF HIM, IN HIS HOME, ON HIS COUCH, WHILE HE'S ASLEEP💀💀💀💀💀 They treat it as this funny tee-hee kinda moment but my friend and I were like huuuuuuuuuhhhhh😭😭😭😭. That was def when I decided that I hate them as a couple like wtf😭.

Also Rocky has the best and most compelling scenes in the movie. Rocky finds out that he has cancer and he tells the doctor "I'm okay with that" (my friend teared up) and he decides to not go through with chemotherapy because his wife and brother in law are dead, and he's estranged from his son. Adonis finds out and becomes upset that Rocky doesn't want to "live for him".... mind you, Rocky has only known Adonis for a couple months like lol. Like why would you be his reason for living... moving on, he basically coerces Rocky into doing chemo by saying that he won't fight anymore if Rocky doesn't get treatment. Which maybe others would think of that as a good thing but imo,, if the man wanted to die, he should have just let him die lmao. I found Adonis' motivations to be very selfish. Anyways blah blah blah, Rocky decides to live and Adonis wins his fight. Overall just an okay movie and Adonis was very annoying💀 I did not like his character at all lol.

Context for Creed II: In Rocky 4, Rocky fights this Soviet dude named Ivan Drago. Ivan kills Apollo Creed so Rocky goes up against him in revenge and ends up defeating him.

In Creed II, Ivan Drago is back in town and has his son Viktor with him (who is also a huge scary boxer). It turns out that after Ivan was defeated by Rocky, he was shunned (from the Soviet Union? Idk really) and him and his wife were sent to Ukraine. His wife eventually leaves him and he has to raise Viktor on his own. Ivan is basically like one of those toddlers and tiaras moms but with boxing rather than pageantry. He's pretty cold and abusive towards Viktor. This movie imo is the best out of the three; I think that all the characters have clear motivations and I liked the dynamic between Viktor and his dad. I actually rlly liked the opening scene of the movie because it starts with Ivan and Viktor in Ukraine, and Ivan literally punches Viktor awake in the morning💀💀.

Back to Adonis and Bianca... Bianca begins to develop some hearing loss (it is unclear whether it's hereditary or from loud noise) and she later finds out that she is pregnant. She expresses concerns over the fact that their baby may be born deaf, which like, does not really make sense? If Bianca has acquired hearing loss why would the baby have congenital hearing loss??? Anyways.. the baby (Amara) is indeed born deaf and Adonis and Bianca are devastated and they start crying. Which is a fairly normal response but, what gets me is that the only person to say something positive about the fact that she is deaf is Rocky. He says something along the lines of "Well she won't care that she's deaf so why should you?". And that's literally it lolol like Adonis and Bianca do not speak about the fact she is deaf ever again. At the end of the movie they show her with some bright colored hearing aids (so that they stand out to the audience) to show that "wow! Everything is good now because she can HEAR like a normal person!". Likkeee.... why couldn't they show them interacting with her using ASL instead lol? Very weird choice imo I did not like that at all.

Also every boxer has a walk out song, but for Adonis' last fight Bianca is singing??? Like she literally walks out in front of him with a mic lmaoooo😭😭. I just thought that was cringe like I did not enjoy that hifhshf.

Okay so at the end of the movie Adonis and Viktor have their big match, and ofc Adonis wins🙄🙄. Which makes no sense and they honestly should not have even fought in the first place because they are in completely different weight classes lol

In the Rocky films Rocky regularly goes against people that are larger than him, which is fine and makes sense in the context of the films because they are silly movies. Creed on the other hand takes itself seriously so the size difference stands out more. Like in Rocky 4, Adrian's flop drunkard incel brother lives with them, and Rocky gets him a robot wife as a gift😭. Like the Rocky movies are unbelievably dumb lol.

I was seriously rooting for Viktor the whole time😭 and the only reason that he lost was because his dad threw down the towel and gave up the fight. Which like, I guess is sweet but we don't ever see Ivan reflecting on the fact that perhaps he's pushing Viktor too hard. Also like 3 minutes before that he was literally telling Viktor to kill Adonis lmao so it makes no sense for him to throw in the towel but WHATEVER I guess. At the end of the movie Rocky makes up with his estranged son and he moves to Canada or something. So.

Creed III: this is the first Creed movie without Rocky. In this movie, Adonis reunite with his childhood friend Damian who has been in prison for nearly 20 years. 20 years for a crime that Adonis committed mind you. The story takes place 6 years after Creed II and Adonis is now retired. This movie is way better in regards to deaf representation. Amara no longer has hearing aids and she communicates with her parents using ASL.

So Adonis is annoying as usual and doesn't rlly gaf about the fact that Damian was in prison for that long lol. He comes out of retirement to fight Damian and Damian ends up losing to Adonis... which pissed me off like what was the reason lol. I honestly thought that he was gonna lose or let Damian win but WHATEVER.... I don't have much to say about the actual plot of the movie tbh like it was just boring lmao.

What did bother me though was the sponsorships... the movie was sponsored by Hennessy, Showtime, and Ralph Lauren and they were not subtle about it at alllll😭😭😭😭. They were drinking Hennessy and the name was splattered around everywhere. At the beginning of the movie Adonis is wearing this fuck ass outfit.. my friend and I were so confused😭 why is he wearing a hoodie underneath a blazer like💀

Later, Adonis steps outside and you see this advertisement plastered to the outside of a building. Like the Adonis character was doing Ralph Lauren ads in the movie lmao😭😭

After we saw this ad the stupid outfits made so much more sense lol.

The difference between Rocky and Adonis is actually funny to me though bcuz in Rocky 2 they try to get him to do ads, but he is unable to read the cue cards because he is canonically illiterate💀

Okay last thing, and this is totally nit picky of me, but I hated their mansion. It was this terrible modern style LA home like dont piss me awffff...

Alright that's all that I have to say about these films. I rlly could not tell you why they have such high ratings. And I know that like 90% of this is just me being a hater ig but idgaf lol.

OJAY BUT TALKING ABOUT THAT I hate how everything about the movie FROM THE VERY BEGINNING have tried to pull away from the musicals formula to (i guess??) appeal to a wider audience but in that they both jeopardize their established audience of theater fans AND whatever non musical fans they manage to trick. It's just horrible for everyone involved WHY ! WOULD THEY DO THAT ! i just feel like everybody loses even from a "more money" perspective it just sucks

its really baffling bc with this example in particular i actually really liked how they chose to adapt it like i think a lot of the “teen musicals” leave a lot to be desired in how they impliment the music itself but this is one that definetly embraced it more and got really creative with it which while there were def a few songs that fell flat (and also like. most of the musical from mean girls bway is really mid lmao) i really liked overall how they were silly and fun with it didn’t try to just play it straight or shy away from indulging in that aspect of theatre that is inherently a little bit unserious. which is why i’m so fucking confused by why they chose to market it in the way it did 😭😭😭 like the total refusal to associate it with musical theatre just doesn’t extend into the movie itself the way i was expecting it to based on the advertising

Santa/is dressed as Santa), Curtains 1983 (not really "Xmas," but the winter vibes are immaculate. & it is by far one of THE best, most underrated slashers; must go in as blind as possible), the aforementioned It's A Wonderful Knife (I know several didn't like it cause it skews in a more comedic direction, but I got a lot out of it + it's superrrr gay), Gremlins (arguable on this fully. classifying as "horror," but a PG rating in the 80s got away with a lotttt more than it does now + it has very similar vibes to Krampus), & Inside 2007 (less full-blown Xmassy as much as it is a veryyyy violent movie that happens to be set around the time; does not. miss with the gore, but it is absolutey visceral). I'm so tired of people making a big deal out of Ewan's looks..... First of all, his face is angular and thin, so he generally looks older than people with baby faces like Olivia's. Or even Tom, who imo looks his age but has a more round face that appears younger. Ewan looked older even at 17 AND SO WHAT. Also he wears a big scar and an eye patch, and his acting choices have his face being tense all the time, which makes him look older too. And it's like no one watches tv these days? 30 year olds play teenagers all the time, maybe people have a problem with it, but if they are good actors, who cares??? The last kingdom cast had 20 year olds playing adults with small children and then with grown up children after some time and they were supposed to be in their 50s I guess and no one cares. But in this fandom it's always unbelievable to people, omg.

it's not about wrinkles or angularity necessarily. it's about how one carries themselves, their demeanour, their unweary eyes, their general vibe. teenagers have this aura of.... being unfinished somehow, like they haven't spent enough time cooking in the oven. this is may be not so apparent when you're young yourself, but it's definitely noticeable when you're an adult and look at teens

as a counter-example, emma mackey & asa butterfield are believable as teenagers in Sex Education even though they're mid-twenties. idk how to explain, it may be the styling or it may be bc they are actually allowed to carry themselves as normal teenagers. whereas it's true that aemond gets a scar and an eyepatch and an overall scary presence that don't help with the general passing-as-a-highschooler thing. this becomes very conspicuous when he's paired in a scene with luke, who is an actual, real teenager. this is part of the reason why some black stans were peddling the "aemond is a grown man beefing with a child" narrative (yes, i've seen it with mine own eyes)

there's definitely a valid criticism to be made about how young grrm makes his protagonists - a lot of his stories would work better if his characters were early twenties or at least aged up a couple of years (see arya and sansa). there would also be fewer child brides this way. who were not so common as people think! (even back then people knew it wasn't healthy or safe to start having children as soon as your first menstruation)

as for movies/tv resorting to adult actors, that is very understandable since there are laws regulating the amount of time child actors are allowed to work per day, which can slow down filming, if the role is big enough. also, it presens an ethical dilemma if their scenes are more raunchy or violent in nature. it's just that sometimes it breaks the suspension of disbelief, is all

Time for the first of the sad Gabriella ballads!

This part with her dramatically swaying on the barrier is so iconic. She’s just as dramatic as Troy they’re perfect for each other, in fact I wish they cranked it up a bit because she really is just walking through the corridors - they could have at least had her go on the rooftop for a brood or something. That backlit shot is beautiful though!

Anyway A tier? But could drop to B just because the staging isn't that inspired, I like the song though damn can she belt those notes! Actually is this the only song where they sing straight at the camera?

Ok so as much as I wish the communication was better (I mean she could have at least said “hey I heard what you said to your team and that you’re done with the callbacks”), she does handle it pretty maturely. Although she’s clearly upset with that “Go Wildcats” comment, she’s understanding of the pressures on him and how hard it is to stray away from the social hierarchy. She doesn’t just immediately give him the silent treatment, she tries to make it sound like there are no hard feelings.

I just imagined Kelsi's reaction if Gabriella went to tell her they're not doing the auditions 😭😭😭

Chad would have had exactly no idea that Troy enjoyed singing, from his POV Troy really was all about basketball and the team, but suddenly a new girl turns up and he auditions for the musical out of the blue? Even Ms Darbus found it hard to believe he was being genuine, from his friends' perspective it looks like he was only doing this because he had a crush on a girl he met like 2 days ago. I can see how they'd think this was unserious behaviour given their tournament coming up.

I mean sure Troy does try to broach the subject with Chad before Getcha Head in the Game, but very tentatively. I'm not saying things would have gone fine if he'd just come out with it earlier like Zeke did with his baking hobby (judging by everyone's reaction to Zeke anyway), but here Taylor and Chad regret their actions as soon as they realise how upset Troy and Gabriella are. It seems like they genuinely did not expect that this would mean so much to them.

I'm actually gonna plug a fic here that explores this part of the movie from Chad's perspective and has a really good interaction between him and Gabriella. It's called Explanation, Elaboration on AO3 go read it it's really good and a nice little character study

I love how Troy’s friends find him on the rooftop so easily, he really thought this place was secret. Two options: They apologised to Gabriella first and she told them where Troy could be, or they just knew this whole time that he likes to go there to brood and they just let him

yeah it’s like, they had very suggestive scenes and a literally stripping scene. But because p never went in v it’s not sex??😭 Like when did nudity/sexual intentions become different from sex scenes in movies. The only difference is they just slid up when the killer got to kill them in the order of events (btw, i didn’t love that they got killed cause I literally only remember them being in line for black friday and no much else. everything else wasn’t their fault??) And yeah, i’m all for gruesome deaths in slasher movies but they were mostly reserved for side characters… which is lame and doesn’t make sense. Yesss you totally should watch it!! Ben is sooo sweet and the 80s prom look they put him in is just adorable. And I lived for the idea of tall, nerdy Ben getting with (and absolutely wrecking) the blonde twink that was his coworker. Wish it would’ve happened but disney is disney so they can have a gay character but not gay relationships. 😪 I’d say their pairings together are honestly pretty good. Both generally strive to be positive people, are competitive in a good sportsmanship kind of way, and they’re helpful (like Zed helping people befriend werewolves and Wally helping Maddy find out who killed her.) Like I said, it’s been a minute since I’ve watch Zombies and i’ve only skimmed through school spirits recently to get details for certain fics😭 So i don’t fully remember the nuances of each sksjsks (jk, Wally has a slightly bigger dick than Zed and Zed’s has more veins. And you’re so right about the stretchhhh, painful yet so good because they’re just filling you up and the thrusts would totally be inconsistent so it’s even better-)

Yeah Ryan wins no contest. He’s bigger in every way and if he pops some adderall he’ll be on high alert. Same! I love horror movies and I wish there were some stronger ones for Christmas/New Years. I’ll check them out after the holiday on Monday since most of my family will be returning to work and I’ll be at home waiting for classes to start back up😭 (Yesss HDD is traditional because it’s so good, wish it wasn’t PG-13 but I like that it isn’t a gorefest because it doesn’t have to be) For sure for sure, I would have loved the movie more if it was just Ryan and Jessica on their own and Bobby being given a red herring through something else (maybe his dad’s company?)

Read through them all earlier (then fell back asleep and slept through my alarms ahhh😭) and THEYRE SO GOOOD. i love them all!! my ask box can take more if you got ‘em, since we keep talking about new stuff🫣 but this is so many more than i ever could have imagined and thank you🖤🖤 (loved the somnopholia one because he never needs to sleep so he’s gotta pass the time somehowwww)
