If there was to exist a High School Musical Scream AU, I think that, ultimately, everyone would have a motive to be ghostface. Here's what I think they would be:

Sharpay - would do it because she knew she could get away with it + has control and anger issues.

Ryan - good ol' revenge, that being towards his sister or his peers (who both constantly overlook him).

Troy - easily persuaded, would not get the gravity of his errors till it was too late.

Chad - similarly to Ryan; revenge, except i think he'd also do it for sport.

Taylor - is smart enough to do it and get away with it + doesn't really relato to/really like most of her peers.

+ Gabriella - the one who would, in every single scenario, be the final girl - not only because she's neither capable nor willing to be ghostface, but also because she's shown sympathy over and over again towards her peers and would ultimately be spared.

bunuses:

Jason would be colateral damage. He'd be at the wrong place at the wrong time. Poor guy.

Kelsi would probably be stabbed so as not to leave loose ends but somehow skate out alive for the sequel.

Zeke, my guy, is unfortunately doomed by the narrative. Would be the last one to figure out who ghostface was and be either spared (by accident, as in forgotten), or killed off screen.

Martha would hear about it on the news the next day and thank god that she was never that close to them.

You can choose who you'd want to be ghostface in your head, but, to me, it'd be the works of Ryan and Chad because they're both vengeful and in love with eachother :)
