For any Nevermoor fans that've ever been interested in getting their hands on the UK hardcover editions of the series, with the wonderful cover designs..... I think they might be out of print (which. makes sense with the gold foil) so. goodluck and godspeed for finding them secondhand, because it was surprisingly hard to do online.

Die Sonne - Part 4
Tumblr media
a/n - Listen I know I've been gone for like a hot minute. Hear me out okay? Life is hard. It's leveling out right now and I got the time to spit out this 664 word Drabble in the story. A little look see into Königs internal anxiousness. I do have planned time the next week to be able to fully edit what I have written out so if all goes well I should be able to post more and soon!
König paced across his living room, waiting for her arrival. He was still in shock that she agreed but not just for a short term to try things out she had signed a year contract with him. Normally omegas would start with a shorter contract 3-6 months to get to know each other and ease into things. The contracts were more for mediation of rules and boundaries. The contract he signed had very little as far as requirements and rules went. All she had asked for was a desk space for her work and had left a short list of emergency medical information. It was a bit suspicious but he tried to push that line of doubt from his mind. Not everyone had bad intentions.
He realized he must look crazy pacing his apartment like a caged animal but he was impatient and terrified at the same time. He had searched for a mate for so long and he still didn’t understand why she had chosen him. He looked at the clock and cursed. He still had some time before she would be here. Recognizing he needed to put this nervous energy to use before he exploded, he double checked the room he had set up for her.
It was small but had an attached bathroom and large windows across from the bed that looked over the city. He wasn’t sure what she liked yet so he stuck to neutrals as far as decor went, which was easy to do with an almost completely unused room. He had stocked blankets and pillows ranging from silky fabrics to thick and fluffy. Added a bed and a desk with a comfy chair. He had really tried to make this room a safe space for her to retreat to when she didn’t want to be around him. The thought almost makes him whine. Shaking his head he went back to the living room, double checking he hadn’t forgot to clean up or anything.
He would take her shopping, he decided. Once she was settled in of course. Though she may not want him trailing behind her she was his responsibility now. To care for, feed, clothe and protect. He was at her beck in call, she just didn’t know it yet. He grinned to himself as he thought of all the ways he wanted to spoil her. Money wasn’t a concern, his many years in the military and later time with KorTac, he had created a more an comfortable life for himself.
Glancing at the clock she would be arriving soon. Surprisingly she had opted to come alone. From his research usually omegas had a family member or one of the liaisons from the agency come along to help them get settled in. He admired her bravery, she had fire his omega. He liked that she didn’t seem to fear him, at least not during their brief encounter. So many people feared him, he couldn’t bear to have his omega fear him too. Having his own omega to cherish had always been a dream to him. His Apex status removed him from most opportunities as he was drafted into service quickly once he presented.
The clock ticked away on the wall as he continued to pace. He had to get a handle on himself or he would do nothing but scare her and embarrass himself in the process. Scrubbing a hand over his face he decided a trip to the gym downstairs was in order. He would work out some of this excess energy then clean up before meeting her. Quickly he stepped out into the elevator, pressing the button as he bounced on the balls of his feet, impatient for the release that comes with the ache and burn in his muscles. As the floors passed the elevator let out a shrill ding, prompting him to throw on his headphones. Only one song seems to fit for today, reminding him of his sweet Mina. Die Sonne.

Partially Deaf/Hard of Hearing Prefect
A/N: Purely self indulgent and based off of my own hearing loss called a cookie bite and my experiences with it. I can’t speak for everyone but this is how this stuff usually goes for me
Grim
finds out within the first day, whether you want him to or not
you thought you were alone in Ramshackle. How were you to know he’d come up from behind you and try to talk to you?
he’s PISSED when you don’t respond to his remarks and almost sets you on fire
when he finally does catch your attention he starts badgering you about why you were ignoring the Great Grim
you eventually calm him down enough to explain that you took your hearing aids off for the night so you couldn’t hear him at all
Grim is confused and you have to go into the whole speech about how you’re missing part of your hearing and need devices to help you with it or how you can read lips to understand people
Grim actually feels pretty bad about it. He’s probably never dealt with any sort of disability before so he’d probably not know how to handle it or how to help you
“No, yelling at me won’t fix the problem Grim. Use your inside voice. You’re going to wake the dead again”
He’d eventually figure out that you can still hear high stuff, he’d definitely shriek to get your attention when you don’t have your hearing aids on no matter how much it annoys you (if people didn’t think Ramshackle was haunted before, the high pitched wails coming from there occasionally throughout the night definitely has them convinced now)
Once you figure out a system however, he’d definitely become your lifeline at school. Lectures are NOT a deaf person’s friend. Whether that means repeating what somebody said to make sure you got it or mouthing along with the things people say so you can read his lips, Grim will do what he can to help his little hench human. Just make sure to feed him some tuna afterwards
Ramshackle Ghosts
Ghosts are often portrayed as messing with technology like with staticky TVs, so I’d imagine these three would be a feedback NIGHTMARE
Even if you’d normally wear your hearing aids around the house, that’d go right of the window with these three. You’d know they’re in the same room by the telltale squeal your hearing aids make
They don’t mean harm, it’s just their spectral nature
Rip to you trying to interact with any of the ghost staff actually. Lunch time is probably also a nightmare with the kitchen staff
Once they know of your hearing loss, the ghosts start helping you out with things you might not be able to hear, like someone knocking on the door for example
You eventually offer to teach them what sign language you know that way you can communicate more without you needing to rely on reading their lips so much (do ghosts even have lips???)
Grim eventually gets dragged into your lessons too and soon it becomes a Ramshackle requirement to attend these classes of yours, even if you’re just staying for a night
Sam
LITERAL LIFE SAVER
If I know ANYTHING about healthcare/disability assistance is that it’s as inconvenient and as cumbersome as possible AKA hearing aid batteries in Twisted Wonderland would definitely be under a totally different labeling system than our world I can just feel it in my bones
Sam would help you figure out what batteries you needed for your make and model of hearing aid, spending well over an hour trying out every battery type just to figure out which one fit. After that he’d start keeping them in stock just for you
He’d even help replace the maintenance stuff you need like brushes, stabilizers, wax caps, and all of those fun little goodies that you left in your own world
Like I said, literal life saver here
I feel like he’d be pretty attentive to you too, like making sure to speak slow and clearly for you any time to drop by to shop a bit
10/10 would shop here forever if I could
Deuce Spade
Probably the first of the student’s I’d open up to tbh. he seems pretty safe for this kind of stuff. You’d have to broach the topic yourself though. I’m not sure if he would notice your hearing loss at all.
It’d probably just come up naturally while you’re walking in between classes. You're both talking about things you struggle with and you slip in that you're losing your hearing so listening in class can be tough some times
He’d probably have a mini heart attack at first if he doesn’t immediately blue screen
You can’t hear him? Like at all??? Wait, no, you can hear, just not voices. Wait, you can hear some voices, just not all voices????? That’s confusing
At the same time though he knows why you were "ignoring" him the other day so that's good
He'd let you copy his notes if you missed anything in class or explains anything you couldn’t hear! Just remember they're Deuce's notes and try not to put any more academic pressure on him than he’s already doing
Tries to be more conscious about making sure you can understand him when your chatting. Might try to get loud sometimes but he'll quickly corrects himself once you tell him that doesn't really help you all that much
Tries to learn sign language for you, but studying... is not his strong suit. He'll definitely pick up a few words though so don't give up on him! Just remember to sign s l o w l y at first
If you teach him to knock/stomp to get your attention he'd probably be pretty rough about it. I'd fear for Ramshackle's floor boards cause this man can be strong when he wants to be
All in all a good egg who's doing his best
Ace Trappola
2/10, would not recommend
I like Ace but he’s a mischief creator, a problem haver, and a trouble maker
He’d probably find out that you’re deaf by making fun of the way you say something
he'd think you're just goofing, but his words really hit a nerve
you’re not trying to be wrong. You’re trying really hard to figure it out! Could he at least give you a helping hand here instead of laughing at you?
his laughter eventually pushes you over the edge and you snap at him, saying you didn’t ask to be deaf so you’re “sorry” if your voice is a little strange! You’re trying your best here with what little hearing you have left!
Ace is definitely taken aback by your sudden out burst and even more so about this disability he knew nothing about
He checks in with Grim and Deuce before realizing how much of a jerk he was being. He’d still probably drag his feet a bit before apologizing (i mean, this is Ace we’re talking about here), but once he does apologize he’d totally change his tune
He’d still poke fun at you on occasion, but he’d know not to push you so far anymore
If anyone did make fun of you or the way you spoke, Ace would definitely rally the boys to hunt down who ever made fun of you. Only one person is allowed to tease you and that’s him

happy (late) valentine's day @elveneclipse! this is a highly experimental mashup of candy cards + a small fanfic. i hope you enjoy! (@mcyt-valentines)
basic summary: DSMP candy cards/fanfic. Wilbur needs to send out valentines cards to a distant relative. He pulls tommy along for the job. eight candy cards w/ a word count: 930.
“Why are we writing these stupid things again? Corbin Trove sound like a fake name, is this tax fraud? Are you making me commit a crime again Wil?”
Wilbur glanced up from where he was finishing pasting photos onto card-stock. Tommy was sitting on the counter to the left of him, legs swinging while he fiddled with the lighter display. He looked tremendously bored. Outside the heavy winds battered against the gas-station doors, though the inside was blessedly warm. Management can’t skimp out on the temperature system  when your building acts as a desert shelter.
“For Valentine's day. For my distant cousin. On my Mom’s side.”
“I thought your Mom was a fridge.”
“No. She died. I only ever saw her on the fridge. That’s where the joke came from.”
“Oh.”
He finally glued down the last photo of Tommy to the card, a younger one, from L’manburg. He looked cute.
“Why do you want to send them cards if they’re distant?”
“So I can update them. Let him know I’m alive. I was going to do that for all my relatives but turns out I only have one.” He held out four red cards for Tommy to take. “Here. These are yours.”
“Why do I have to be involved?” Tommy whined.
“You’re my brother, aren’t you? You should be involved then.” Tommy stared back at Wilbur with an unreadable face. Blank, suspicious. Wilbur had forced himself to get used to those.
Tommy snatched them out of Wilbur’s hands with a sour face and dug out a colored pencil from his cargo shorts. “Fine, I’ll do 'em. But I won't make em good. Or nice. Or proper. Or-”
“Stop stalling. Just sign the cards bud.”
He thinks this is easy, doesn't he. He can write just about anything and make it sound good, even now. I’m not like that Wilbur. I’m scared. Chaotic. What if you don’t like me. He wants me to write to you. I don’t know how. He wants this to start the new normal but he abandoned me even though he didn't really leave me because I can visit but that means leaving. I can’t leave where I’m living you’ve got to understand that it’s apart of my fuckedness. The fuckery in me brains. Can’t leave home can’t hate people can’t be nice can’t be good. You don’t want to hear from me I‘ve got nothing good to show or say or do or be or-
“Tommy,” Wilbur said softly. He rested his hand on Tommy’s shoulder concerned at the far-away look in his eyes. Tommy did that too often. Wilbur had hoped when he left he’d have found someone else who could show him how to de-fuck himself. He guessed he’d been wrong.
Tommy jerked and stared at Wilbur with large eyes. “Hm?”
“Whatever you put in will be fine. Don’t think about it too hard, just sign them.”
“Okay.” Tommy said. He hopped off the counter and knelt on his knees signing his cards on the dirty linoleum floor. Wilbur sighed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Why are we sending them pictures of our faces? Seems a bit self-centered Wilba!” Tommy accentuated the ending syllable of his name, which is how Wilbur knew he was feeling better. At least marginally.
“It’s so they know what we look like. And I don’t know, maybe.”
Silence. Wilbur fiddled with the ends of his own cards, laminated, with type-writer lettering instead of handwriting. Wilbur didn’t like feeling pens in his hands anymore.
“Wouldn’t this have worked better as a Christmas card?”
“Well I missed Christmas, Tommy. So.”
Tommy didn’t respond, just went back to writing and kicking his feet in the air. Wilbur knew his cardigan would get dirty with sand and general car-floor grime. He wondered if dry-cleaning would be worth it.
“Okay, I’m done!” Tommy crowed. “Let's compare. I bet mine’s way cooler than your lame ugly valentines day card.”
Wilbur chuckled softly as he inspected the sets side-by-side. “I’m sure they are.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tommy cringed. “Wow, these suck Wilbur.”
“What! I think these are perfectly fine.”
“They’ve got no personality! No heart. It’s just your name over and over again.”
“I think the dick monument has plenty of personality.”
“That’s not what I meaannnn Wilbaaa,” Tommy dragged out his syllables into a whine as he fell and leaned his whole torso onto the counter. “You’ve not told them why you want to write to them! What else is the point of sending these if you haven’t given them a reason?”
“I didn’t think I needed one.” Wilbur answered plainly. Tommy puffed out his cheeks and laid his limbs dangling over either side of the counter.
“Well now mine look dumb. Gimmie ‘em back.” He said, reaching for his stack.
“Nuh-uh,” Wilbur said, dangling them out of reach of Tommy’s grabby hands. “They’re cute, he’ll love them.”
“But they look stupid next to yours with no message on themmmm” Tommy whined further.
“If I promise to add something to mine will you let me send them anyways?”
Tommy glared at Wilbur upside down, face slightly red from the blood rush and cheeks still puffed in indignation. Times like this Wilbur forgot Tommy had aged beyond the little twelve year old he’d found behind a laboratory trash can. God, could Tommy drink now in the states?
“Okay. Fine. But only if you promise.”
Wilbur smiled indulgently, holding out a single pinky finger. “I promise.”
Later that night, true to his word, he had added something with his typewriter over the plastic lining. It had meant sending them out the next day when they would arrive a little late, but it had been worth it. At least, Wilbur hoped it had.
Tumblr media
[A/N: THATS IT. THAT'S THE WHOLE THING SORRY IT'S SO SHORT. I hope you like it! If this isn't what you were looking for I 100% understand this was very experimental. I'll be happy to work on a replacement gift for you!! Happy Valentines Day :D ]

TF2 Drabbles: Scout/Pyro - Decorations
Summary: Perhaps something silly with Pyro and Scout drawing together! It could be more platonic or more romantic, I genuinely don't mind either way.
I didn't get enough winter/winter holiday themed requests so I took several from my normal list and made them themed so. Which in hindsight, I maybe should've just decided to do from the start since they've been sitting in my inbox for so long already.
~
“What do you mean we can’t get more decorations? The Christmas party is like our big thing before we all leave for like ages. We gotta decorate for it.” And Scout wasn’t going to admit it out loud but he quite liked decorating the common room for it with everyone willing to assist. It was fun.
Engie frowned at him as he finished dropping the last of the water logged, partially moldy cardboard boxes that had once contained all the base’s Christmas decorations in the garage’s trash bin. “Son, in case you somehow forgot with how gosh dang cold it is, we’re on top of a damn mountain currently. The drive down to the nearest town is four hours in good weather. Which it is currently but that’s still far too long to for any of us to want to put up with for something that ain’t needed. We went yesterday to stock up with enough food and supplies to last ‘til we all leave for holiday. You should’ve said something before then.”
Scout followed him back into the warmer part of the base because it was indeed quite cold. “We didn’t know everything was ruined yesterday.” It was just this morning they’d pulled the boxes out and found them and most of what was inside ruined. They’d search through most of it, looking for anything salvageable with almost not success.
Those boxes had been left to sit and rot in the leaky back corner of the storage area since they’d moved into this base several months ago. The base hadn’t been warm enough to allow the leak to drip so they’d all missed it at the time, resulting in their current predicament. “It’s not fair.”
Engie shrugged. “Sorry but that’s just how it is. We’ll have a real tree this year though so it ain’t all bad.”
“Yeah but a Christmas tree isn’t a proper Christmas tree unless it’s not a star and stuff on it.”
No response this time so after a few more seconds of no sign of Engie changing his mind, Scout headed off. Technically he could steal the car and go by himself. But while he did have some experience driving in snow, nothing like what was out there. And his reckless driving had gotten him banned from using the team van – which he’d never had any desire to fight because it was more work to drive anyway – and thus he hadn’t driven at all in over a year. So his chances on the road weren’t great. Respawn could snatch him up but it could do nothing to save him from the team’s wrath if he totaled their only form of transportation that wasn’t Engie’s two man truck. And he didn’t want to risk doing that to all of them anyway. Meaning he was stuck.
He did know someone who would commiserate with him though. Even if he hadn’t even tried to argue with Engie’s decree, Pyro had seemed just as disappointed as Scout, if not more so, when pulling out the boxes to find them ruined.
It took a bit of searching but he eventually found Pyro in his room. The door was unlocked, allowing Scout to just walk in.
Pyro was standing at his table, piling stuff into a box at the edge of it. Curious, Scout stayed quiet as he stepped closer, allowing him to see into the box before Pyro could spot him. … It was his art stuff. Mostly paints but pencils and markers too.
“Why you packing up your stuff?”
Pyro didn’t startle, indicating he’d heard Scout come in and hadn’t minded. “I’m putting it in a box so I can move it easier. It’s good you’re here though because I need some of your paper and pencils and maybe some of Spy’s stuff too and probably some scissors and glue too.”
“Yeah, sure, I’ll help you gather stuff.” It’s not like Scout had anything better to do right now. “What you planning on making?”
“Christmas decorations. We don’t have any and can’t go buy any so I’m gonna make some. You want to help?”
“Oh, uh… yeah, sure. That’s a good idea actually.” It hadn’t even occurred to Scout as an alternative to make their own decorations. They wouldn’t be super durable or fancy but it’d be far better than nothing. And well, doing art with Pyro was always fun. Working on a big project like this together would likely be even more so.

Part 17: Reunited
November 23, 2021: Week Thirty-Eight
New York, New York. 9:00 AM
The smell of coffee and cinnamon made my mouth water while I walked out to the kitchen, I saw Anne cooking with her back to me, I smiled before making myself known, “Good morning, Anne”, she turned to look at me and gave me a smile “Darling! Good morning! How did you sleep?”, I stood beside her and gave her a side hug
“I slept good, thankfully there was not so much kicking as other nights”, she plated the French toast and placed it on the table, “Do you want some coffee? Made some decaf for you”, I nodded and sat down beside her and started eating
“Thank you for breakfast, this looks delicious”, she took a bite and smiled, “Anything for you two, so any plans today?”, I smiled at this, “Well… would you like to meet your grandbaby?”, her faced showed a beaming smile and some tears, “Really? I would love to honey”, she reached in for a hug
“I have an appointment at noon, maybe later we could go grocery shopping and cook that pasta we made when I first went to visit you guys?”, she nodded, “I think it is a great plan, I’ll also start stocking up on ingredients for the meals I want to make for you”
We finished eating breakfast, washed the dishes and went to get ready, about an hour later we called a cab and headed to Betty’s office, after the 20-minute ride we got there and Anne gave me a hug, you could see the happiness and excitement radiate of from her.
When we got into the office Randy signed us in and about five minutes later Betty came out to get me, “Hi mama! how are we doing huh? We aren’t pulling any funny business huh?”, I returned the hug and laughed a little, “No funny business, back to their regular kicking routine and Braxton-Hicks”
I stood next to Anne who was smiling so big and then turned to look at my midwife, “Betty, this is Anne, Harry’s mom”, Betty smiled so big and reached in to give Anne a hug, “Oh my God hello! Congratulations grandma! I am so excited and happy to meet you!”, she pulled back and Anne smiled, “It is my pleasure, I have only heard good things from you”
She guided us back to her office where I settled on the bed with the help of Anne while Betty washed her hands, she helped me lift my shirt and started feeling my belly, “Well thankfully baby is still well positioned for a natural delivery which makes me really happy”
I smiled when I heard that and she squeezed my shoulder, “Have you lost your mucus plug lovey?”, I shook my head, “Okay that’s fine, it will most likely happen in the next days, which is totally normal, now if you don’t mind I wanna do a pelvic exam”, I nodded and she smiled, “Okay lovey, so I need you to put your knees up and flop them like a butterfly and take some deep breaths okay?”
I did as she told me and Anne grabbed my hand to give it a squeeze while she put on some sterile gloves, it was definitely an uncomfortable feeling but it didn’t hurt, a few moments later she pulled back, and as Anne helped me lower my legs Betty removed her gloves while speaking, “So, you are about 20% effaced which is good, and about two centimeters dilated, I know it may not seem much but this is all good, it means we are on our way to have a baby”
“We can say that baby watch has officially begun, so if they do not arrive within the next two weeks we will discuss some induction options, but we will do it how you want okay? I will give you a list of things you can try to induce labor, but if you want my opinion, let them come when they want to come, you are perfectly healthy, and your body knows when the time will be right”
I nodded and smiled, Betty then turned to look at Anne and gave her a very soft smile, “So grandma, are you ready to meet your grandbaby?”, Anne nodded her head and squeezed my arm while Betty turned off the lights and turned on the ultrasound machine, she placed some of the cold gel on my belly and I shivered, a few seconds later the grainy image came to life with a picture of a tiny foot
“Dear that is definitely a Styles foot”, we laughed at Anne’s comment while Betty continued with the scan, we turned when she was checking their bits and then turned back to the screen where we could see their profile, “Fluid level is great, now let’s hear that heart”, she clicked a button and the room came to life with the sound I had engraved in my mind and heart for the last nine months.
Anne let out a sniffle and wiped her tears with the tissue she was holding, “I’m sorry, its’ just... it’s so amazing to hear it live, the recordings Harry sent us don’t do It justice”, I gave her a smile, “I’m so happy you are here”, Betty then turned on the 4D option and started moving the probe, she measured the cord and placenta before stopping near their face and laughing.
We turned to the screen and the baby was yawning, which in turn had both Anne and me awwing and tearing up and I spoke up, “Well someone is tired from keeping his or her parents on their toes huh?”, Betty and Anne laughed at my joke, we spent about fifteen minutes more just looking at the baby and trying to pinpoint who he or she looked most like.
Anne helped me clean myself as well as getting down from the bed, Betty handed me the cup and I went into the bathroom to retrieve the sample, after I finished, I placed the sample on the tray designated for these purposes and headed back to her office.
Betty was giving Anne some copies of the ultrasound when I got there and she also had some printed for me, I sat down on the chair opposite to Anne and Betty started talking, “Well I see no problem for you right now, I’ll give you these pamphlets, please read them, they have interesting information on labor signs and everything”
I nodded and placed them in my bag, while she finished writing down my notes, she closed then and gave them back to me, “Okay, so you have received your birth kit, right?”, I nodded, “Okay good, we will send your sample to the lab and if anything is wrong, I’ll let you know”, I nodded again.
We made our way out of the office and I scheduled the appointment for next week, when we got out to the street Anne pulled me into a hug and kissed my head, I nuzzled into the hug and realized it had been too long since I had a motherly figure care for me, I was so into it that I didn’t realize I was crying until Anne pulled back with a worried look, I gave her a small reassuring smile, “I’m okay, I promise”
She nodded but didn’t look entirely convinced and we made our way to the grocery store, after buying what we needed we headed home. It was around seven when we finished preparing dinner and while it heated in the oven, we sat down to have some tea, Anne grabbed my hand and gave it a squeeze, “You know I care so deeply for you, don’t you?”, I nodded, “If you need anyone to talk, I’m here to listen”
I looked at Anne and gave her a small smile, “My mom…well she kind of disowned me when she found out I was pregnant”, she gave me a shocked face and squeezed my hand, I sniffled before speaking up, “I guess she never liked Harry, well not really him but what being with him meant for me, so you can imagine her reaction when she found out I was having his baby”
“Sweet girl...”, I sniffled, “I guess I never knew how much I missed having my mom hug me; and I’m sorry if I made you uncomfortable, but I love you Anne, and you are the closest thing I have to a mom”, she cleared her throat, “And I will always be here for you, you know I love you like a daughter”, I pulled her in for a hug and after a few we pulled back.
She took a sip of her tea before speaking up, “Does Harry know this?”, I shook my head, “Darling…”, I squeezed her hand, “I can’t do it Anne, I know he will blame himself for that, every time my parents made a snarky comment he would apologize and feel so bad when it wasn’t his fault; this is not his fault, it is theirs and they will have to live with it”
She ran a hand down my face and squeezed my cheek, “Why do you protect him so much hmm?”, I placed my hand over hers and squeezed it, “Because I love him, with all my body, soul and being, even if he does not love me anymore”, she sighed and shook her head, “Darling, he loves you too, so much, more than he realizes he does”, it was my turn to shake my head
“He loves the idea of me having his baby Anne, and I’m okay with that, because I know that he will love this baby with all his heart and I’ll keep loving him”, she kissed my head and made her way to the kitchen and I swore I heard her mutter, “We’ll see about that”
November 24, 2021: Week Thirty-Eight
New York, New York. 2:00 PM
My legs were shaking from excitement, it had been far too long since I had seen Gemma and I couldn’t wait to see her; she had let us know they had landed and would go to Harry’s house and leave their bags before joining us for lunch. Anne placed her hand on my knee and laughed a little, “Darling you need to relax or you’ll cause an earthquake”
I laughed a little and took a sip of my lemonade, suddenly there were two hands covering my eyes and someone whispered in my ear, “Guess who?”, I smiled and stood up as best as I could and hugged Gemma, she squeezed me harder and whispered, “Hi you, I missed you”, I squeezed back, “Hi G, I missed you too”
We pulled back and held each other at an arm’s length, “Look at you! You are glowing!”, I said hello to Michal, and we sat down, I was sitting between Gemma and Anne, Gemma then placed her hands on the belly, “Hi little munchkin, I’m your auntie Gem, I am so happy to finally meet you!”, a few seconds later the baby kicked, and I could see the biggest smile on her face
“Oh! I see you baby; we need to have a serious conversation, what was that thing of you trying to break out early huh? I mean I understand if you don’t wanna wait for your dad but for me? Come on! Well now that I am here you can come”, we all laughed at that, Anne tsked her lips, “Hey now, I think we can convince this baby to hold up huh?”
Conversation broke out and then Gemma squeezed my hand and whispered, “Mum told me about what happened with your mum… how are you?”, I sighed, “I mean, I am sad, but I have processed it”, she nodded and squeezed my hand, I sniffled before speaking up, “She's a Bitch”, Gemma laughed, “She's your mum”, I turned to look at her and shrugged my shoulders
“She deserves it, honestly”, I sniffled, “She broke me”, Gemma pulled me in for a hug and kissed my head, I pulled back and squeezed her hand, “But it’s’ okay, I have you guys, and I don’t need anything else”, she smiled, “And we will always be here with you, and now we will spoil you until this little love shows up okay?”
“I know you will, we are just missing your dear brother”, she gave me a teasing look and I rolled my eyes, “Gemma… stop”, she took a sip of her water, “You can deny it all you want, but you two will end up together and it won’t be because of this munchkin, but because you truly love each other, auntie’s intuition”, I laughed and shook my head before turning to look at my belly, “See what you have to look forward to bug?”
November 25, 2021: Week Thirty-Eight
New York, New York. 4:00 PM
Thanksgiving was all set and ready in Harry’s house; Anne, Gemma and I only had to focus on the decorations and name placements, I went into Harry’s room and got ready, the outfit I chose made me feel pretty and sexy, I put on some light makeup and then went downstairs, I could hear some noise and cheers, so I assumed that guests had finally arrived.
When I went into the kitchen Harry was standing with his back to me, my heart started beating so fast when I knew I was about to see him, I cleared my throat and he turned and God, there was that smile I had missed so much, he smiled at me and said “Hi lovie”
November 25, 2021: Week Thirty-Eight
Harry. New York, New York. 4:10 PM
Gemma and my mum were so happy to see me, and I was too, but I was so anxious to see Y/N, I took a sip of the beer Jeff had pulled out while we waited for her to be ready, a few seconds later I heard her clear her throat, I had to take a deep breath before turning to see her hoping that I wouldn’t lose it.
My heart was beating so fast, she looked so beautiful, she was a little fuller on the face and the belly… man that belly made me wanna kiss her right on the spot, I smiled before speaking, “Hi lovie”, I started making my way to her and grabbed her face before placing a kiss on her forehead, I felt her reach for my hands and gave them a squeeze.
I pulled back a little before whispering to her, “Can I hug you?”, she nodded and whispered back, “Please do”, I pulled her into my arms and started swaying us a little, she nuzzled into my neck and I squeezed her and released a breath I had been holding for the last few days; I saw that everyone who was in the kitchen made their way out to give us some privacy.
After a few glorious minutes I pulled back but still kept her in my hold and looked down to see her giving me a small smile, which I returned, “Do you mind if I say hello?”, she shook her head and squeezed my waist before pulling back, I kneeled in front of her belly and ran my hands down the sides before pressing my lips next to her belly button before starting to talk to the baby
“Excuse me little one, mind explaining to me why were you trying to break free while I was mid-show? That seems a bit rude to me and unfair to your mama who was really scared, I thought we agreed that you would wait until daddy was back home huh?”, I smiled at the kick aimed to his left hand
“Nuh-uh, you cannot talk back to your father young one; now, I still have one more show to go, but after that you can come whenever you are ready”, I kissed the belly again before standing up and kissing her forehead, “You have no idea how scared I was”, she smiled and squeezed my arm, “Oh H, I was too, I was truly worried they would really come and you wouldn’t be here”
I smiled at her, “I would have literally taken eight flights if it meant I would be back here with you; you are not getting rid of me that easily darling”, she smiled at that, we stayed there staring at each other just like we did when we first started dating, like there was nobody else in the Universe except for us.
A clearing of a throat pulled us both back from our staring, Gemma gave us a smirk and teasing smile, “Mum asked me to come get you guys, everyone’s ready to eat”, we nodded and followed her to the dining room where everyone had already taken their place and I saw Gemma wink at me when I realized we were sitting together.
Dinner was amazing, and I was so grateful to have my band here along with my family, including my dad who had also arrived today, and I realized that this is what I wanted for us to have, for my baby to grow with, a home full of love, happiness, support, and I would do everything in my will power to do so.
Mitch clinked his glass to get everyone’s attention and cleared his throat while he stood up, “As you all know, I am a man of very few words, practically none if we’re honest”, we all laughed at that, “But I wanted to take the opportunity to give a toast and celebrate, last year a lot of us were not together, we didn’t even know each other but this year, this year we are together and what an adventure we have been on”
There was a cheer and holler all around the table, after it quieted down a little Mitch continued, “So I guess, I just wanted to say thank you, to H for believing in me all this time, to Sarah for being the best partner and mother to our baby, to the band for making it feel like home away from home, to Jeff for putting up with all of us, Anne, Gem, Des and Michal for making us part of your family”
The smiles and some tears were present in the face of all the attendants, Mitch then turned and looked at Y/N, “And especially to you Y/N, for being you; most of you don’t know this, but Y/N helped me pick Sarah’s ring and plan the proposal, she sent us meals when our baby arrived and spent a lot of nights at the phone with Sarah while she shared her fears and anxieties of being a new parent; I hope everyone finds a Y/N and when they do, they make sure to keep her in a tight hold”
Everyone cheered and clapped, I turned to look at Mitch and he gave me a look that meant business, I nodded his head and then squeezed Y/N’s hand to get her attention, when she turned to look at me she gave me a smile which I returned to her, “Thank you for this adventure, the best is yet to come”, she kissed my cheek, “The best is truly yet to come”
November 26, 2021: Week Thirty-Eight
Harry. New York, New York. 11:30 AM
I knocked on Y/N’s door and a few seconds later she opened and I felt the air leave my lungs, she looked so beautiful, “You look lovely”, she smiled and laughed, “Thank you H, come in, I am just finishing my make up”, I closed the door behind me and followed her to her room, “Hey has the bassinet arrived?”, she answered from the bathroom, “Supposed to within the next two to three days”
She popped her head out of the bathroom, “Are you going to tell me where we are going?”, I shook my head, “Absolutely not, the only thing I will tell you is that you will love it”, she rolled her eyes and went back into the bathroom, I took out my phone and texted the group to remind them to let me know when we were supposed to leave
“Take all the time you need love, I am awaiting instructions from the organizing committee”, she laughed at that, “Okay then, let me fix my hair just a little more”, twenty minutes later my mom texted that they were ready, “Love? You ready to go?”, I heard the toilet flush and the door open and close, “I am let me grab my bag”
We made our way to the car where I opened the door for her and then got into the driver’s seat; I started making my way to the venue we had rented for the baby shower, when we stopped in front of a hotel, she turned to look at me, “You have got to be kidding me, Harry! I said that you did not need to spend a huge amount of money!”
I laughed and got out of the car, grabbing the blindfold I had brought for the occasion, “Oh hush, you know me and the fact that I wouldn’t listen to what you said regarding budget, you deserve to be spoilt and celebrated, and I’m the happiest to do it for you”, I gave her a kiss on the cheek
“Now, as requested by the committee, I will place this blindfold on you and remove it once we are there, okay?” she nodded and I placed the blindfold carefully over her eyes, “Now, how many fingers do I have up?”, she snorted
“You are a dork, I truly cannot see”, “Hey just wanted to make sure, shall we?”, she nodded, and she reached for my hand, we started walking towards the elevator, when we got there, she said to me, “Please don’t let my hand go”, I squeezed her hand and told her “I never will”
November 26, 2021: Week Thirty-Eight
New York, New York. 12:15 PM
My heart was beating so fast I was surprised it hadn’t burst out of my chest yet, as the elevator went up my excitement did too, I was so thankful that I had a family and friends who were wanting to celebrate my baby, even if my own wouldn’t be there. The elevator stopped and Harry grabbed my hand, and we walked a few steps before stopping.
He stood behind me and placed his hands on my shoulders giving me a squeeze, he whispered, “Are you ready?”, I nodded and closed my eyes so that when he removed the blindfold it wouldn’t be too harsh on my eyes, I gave it a few seconds before opening them and I felt tears reach my eyes.
The rooftop overlooked the Manhattan skyline, the staff had closed the windows which made the temperature warm for us to enjoy the day, there was a single table made up of four rectangular tables that would allow for all of us to talk, every few places there were some flowers to decorate the space, a balloon garland with the image of Peter Rabbit was seen on the far corner.
I started walking some more and saw that they had hung up a sign, and next to it was a table with some desserts that kept up with the theme as well as a lovely cake, as I neared the table, I could see that in each place there was a card for guests to fill.
I turned to look at Anne, Sarah, Gemma, and Glenne, and gave them a teary smile before opening my arms so I could hug them, “Thank you guys, this is way more than I could have ever thought”, I felt Anne place a kiss on my temple before speaking up, “You and this little baby deserve it”, Harry cleared his throat, and everyone dispersed so I could hug him
“H… this, this is so wonderful, thank you truly”, he pulled back a little but still kept me in his hold, “You deserve this, and so much more”, there was something on the way he said it that made me feel warm, and for a second the feeling I had when I hugged him yesterday returned, what was happening?
We pulled back when the elevator opened, and the rest of the band and family appeared; hugs and kisses were given and drinks started flowing, I was talking with Gemma, Sarah, and Elin when someone poked my shoulder, I turned and smiled when I saw Jason standing there, “Hi you! I’m so happy you could make it!”
“I wouldn’t miss this”, we both reached to hug each other, and he squeezed me a little before pulling back, “So… no scares?”, I laugh and placed my hands on my belly, “No scares, hoping they stay put until after the 28th”, he nodded and smiled before reaching in for a folded paper on his inside pocket and handed It to me
“Before I forget, I had pretty clear instructions from one Ms. Daisy Josephine Sudeikis Wilde to give you this as soon as I saw you”, I laughed and unfolded the piece of paper, inside was a drawing of flowers, butterflies, hearts, and a little baby with the words ‘Congratulations Y/N’ scribbled by Jason I assumed
“Aww sweet girl! I love this! this is definitely going into my scrapbook I’m making”, he smiled at that before clearing his throat, “I also have some other gifts additional to the one requested, but I’ll give them to you later, yeah?”, I nodded and Gemma stepped up, “Jason let me show you where your seat is, I hope you don’t mind we sat you next to Pauli, he’s a big fan of ‘Ted Lasso’”
I smiled when I saw them walk away and turned to look at Sarah who was looking at the bar with an amused smile, “What?”, she laughed a little, “Well if looks could kill, I know someone who would be convicted to murder”, before I could ask her to elaborate more, Anne announced that lunch was ready and we should all take our places, so we made our way to the table.
November 26, 2021: Week Thirty-Eight
Harry. New York, New York. 12:45 PM
I was at the bar sipping on a cocktail and talking with my dad and Michal when I heard Y/N say hello to someone very enthusiastically, when I turned to see where she was standing my heart started beating fast and an unconformable sweat prickled my hands and the back of my head.
Jason reached in to hug her, and I grabbed my drink in order to stop myself from going over there and kissing the hell out of Y/N, a snicker pulled me out of my trance, and I turned to see Glenne standing next to me, sipping from her champagne, and giving me a smirk, “I can smell the jealousy seeping from your pores H”
I grumbled before finishing my drink and placing the empty glass on the bar, “What the hell is he doing here?!”, Glenne scoffed, “You’ve got to be kidding me, are you seriously asking me that?”, I rolled my eyes, “No Glenne, I’m kidding. Of course I’m asking; who invited him?”, Glenne crossed her arms, “Y/N did, must I remind you that it is her baby shower, and she is entitled to invite whoever she pleases?”
I let out a breath, “I’m sorry, you are right”, she squeezed my shoulder, “You need to understand that they are friends, H, they bonded over the same experience, which by the way was caused by you”, I gave her a small laugh, “And that won’t stop them from getting together”, she laughed, and I turned to look at her, “Glenne! It is not funny!”, “It is if you ask me”, she squeezed my arm
“H, it has taken you a while to see what you have in front, and well if she decided to see where things would go between them I would be her first supporter”, I scoffed, “But I love you two, and I know that things will work out between you two, but I will let you know now: if you pull another stupidity like the one you pulled, I will kill you”
I smiled and hugged her, “Thank you Glenne, I know I fucked things up, but I promise that I will fix everything I did wrong”, my mum called us to the table and we made our way, I smiled when Y/N reached her hand out to me so we could sit next to each other, “H, are you okay?”, I gave her a smile, “I am darling, now let’s enjoy this okay?”
November 26, 2021: Week Thirty-Eight
New York, New York. 3:00 PM
The food catered was delicious and left us all full and the desserts were heavenly, while we were eating cake and enjoying the other desserts, conversation broke through, the mothers of the group were giving me advice and Anne shared with us stories of both Gemma and Harry when they were babies, while we were laughing so hard Gemma cleared her throat and turned to look at me, “I think we never asked you, but when did you find out you were pregnant?”
I smiled when I thought of that day and Harry spoke up, “It’s true! I never asked you”, I smiled, “You wanna know?”, everyone nodded, “Okay, uhm well let’s see”
 April 26, 2021: Week Seven
New York, New York. 9:10 AM
The alarm clock pulled me from my slumber and had me grumbling, this week at work had been one of the worst so far, but I still had a job and that is all that mattered, I got out and made my bed, got changed and left my apartment to head over on my run.
After I finished, I decided to stop at Trader Joe’s before arriving back home, I was browsing the fruit and vegetables section when I saw the container that held kiwis and my mouth watered, I reached in and grabbed three kiwis, truth be told I wasn’t a huge kiwi fan, but they looked so good.
I grabbed a few other essentials and when I stopped at the personal hygiene aisle and saw the boxes of tampons and pads, I furrowed my brows, I hadn’t used the new box I bought about three weeks ago, I then turned to see my cart and noticed that I had slipped a few snacks and foods I wouldn’t normally buy.
Huh, that’s weird, now that I think of it, I hadn’t been drinking my coffee lately because it was leaving a very weird after taste and spicy food had been giving so much heartburn that Tums had become my best friend, one would think I was pregnant huh.
I laughed a little, one needs to have sex to be able to get pregnant and I really wasn’t partaking in that lately, a few seconds after this thought dread filled my stomach, I did have sex, with Harry, in L.A., a month ago, shit. I paid for my groceries and made to the nearest pharmacy where I bought two pregnancy tests, a traditional as well as a digital one just to be sure.
Once I got home, I called my boss and told her I was feeling sick, so she told me to take it easy today because thankfully we were ahead of schedule. I unloaded the groceries, took a shower, and cleaned my bathroom, seeing the boxes of pads and tampons brought back the dread I was feeling. I returned to the living room and sat down, the tests were in the table in front of me and mocking me.
Flashbacks from that night appeared, his smile, the flirting, the love, the familiarity. The urge to say no but the desire for him to hug me once again. The kisses and touches, the whispered ‘I love you’s’ and ‘I missed you’s’. The guilt once the morning came, the sadness of things being over and above all the goodbye, the thins that hurt the most.
It was around six in the evening when I finally had the courage to take the tests, I washed my hands and left them in the bathroom and sat down in the living room to wait for the five minutes to pass; God how did I end up in this situation? Why did I have to allow myself to fall to his arms again?
Harry. How would he react? Would he want to know the baby? He had his life settled with her, and even if it pains me, I wouldn’t ask for him to break it. An alarm beeped and weirdly, I felt at peace, I took a deep breath and went into the bathroom, I grabbed the tests and sat down on the living room. Deep breaths Y/N, everything will be okay. I closed my eyes and them turned the tests in my hands. Deep breaths. I opened my eyes.
Two lines. A screen that read ‘Pregnant. 3+’
November 26, 2021: Week Thirty-Eight
Harry. New York, New York. 3:45 PM
Tears were clouding my eyes; I was even prouder of the woman who was sitting next to me. I kissed her temple and she turned to hug me before I whispered, “You are so strong, I am so thankful to have you be the mother of my child”, she pulled back and smiled.
I cleared my throat and turned to see everyone, “I wanna thank you all for coming today, for celebrating with us the arrival of our baby, who thankfully decided to wait for every single one of you to be here”, laughter could be heard, “We will cherish and keep these little keepsakes on who gifted our baby each book and will give them to him or her when they are older, now before we continue celebrating I would love to read a letter I wrote for my baby”
Everyone sat up straighter and I knew that tears were already clouding Y/N’s vision, “I wrote this letter the day Y/N told me she was pregnant, and I have kept it safe until the baby was born, but I want to share it with you, with our family”, I gave them a smile, cleared my throat and opened the envelope where I kept the letter, I took a deep breath before starting to read
“My love, As I sit here in my kitchen, with a copy of an ultrasound your mum just gave me, I feel everything shift; how can things change so much in such little time? How can someone so small have such an impact in someone as big as me? How have I lived 27 years but feel like my life is just starting?
Somehow my projects, dreams and goals don’t matter anymore, and the only thing I want is to make you happy and to protect you and your mum. Somehow the only thing I have in my mind and in my heart is getting to hug you and kiss you.
I want to promise you here and now that I will always be here for you, that you will always be loved and that there will never be a day where you don’t know this. I promise to show you all that this world has to offer, to give you words of advice when you need them.
I hope that when you are older you know that the world is at your feet and that there is nothing that can stop you, that your mum and I will be the first people to catch you when you fall, and to remember that you will always have someone to be a shoulder to cry on or to offer you, their advice.
I hope that you fall, and you learn from those falls, that you are never afraid to start again and to take new paths. I hope that you remember that life has a zillion options and a blank canvas for you to write your own story on, and I hope you let us be a part of it.
Most of all, I hope that you never stop dreaming, and that you always allow me to be a part of your dreams. You are my dream come true and my motivation to keep going when I feel that everything is falling down.
I am truly grateful I get to be your dad and from the bottom of my heart, never ever forget how much I love you baby, I cannot wait to meet you”
I folded the letter and cleaned my tears, tears and sniffles were running all throughout the whole venue, Y/N stood up and pulled me into a hug, I nuzzled and kissed into her neck, she ran a hand down the back of my head; I truly don’t know how long we stood like that, a few minutes later she whispered
“Thank you for being you H, I couldn’t have chosen a better father for my baby”, I smiled and whispered back, “I would’ve never chosen anyone else to be the mother of my baby”
November 26, 2021: Week Thirty-Eight
New York, New York. 6:30 PM
After playing some games, people have moved to the bar and couches into different groups, I was sitting down with Sarah, Elin, Mitch, and Harry when Jason walked to where we were sitting and smiled, I smiled back and he spoke up, “I will be leaving soon because I have dad duty, but I wanted to give you this”, he handed me two gift bags.
I picked the first one and he said, “That is from me”, I opened it and pulled a little onesie that read ‘Coach, we’re not in the womb anymore!’ I laughed and showed everyone the onesie, “Jason, I love it! This is awesome! I cannot wait until the baby gets to wear it”, I then grabbed the second bag
“This one was picked by Otis and Daisy when they were visiting their grandparents”, I opened it and pulled out a white box that had some knitted rattles along with a beautiful blanket”, I stood up and gave him a quick hug before pulling back, “Please tell Otis and Daisy that I loved my gift! Here”, I handed him three of the favors we had gotten for the guests, “One is for you, the other two are for Otis and Daisy”
“You didn’t have to, but I know they will love them”, I walked him to the door with Gemma and said our goodbyes, when the elevator closed Gemma hugged me before speaking, “I swear that if looks could kill my dear brother would be in jail”, I laughed a little, “I wish you were right Gem, I really do”
November 27, 2021: Week Thirty-Eight
New York, New York. 4:00 PM
After the baby shower we headed back to my apartment where we ordered some pizzas, the last guest left at around two, so I had slept in today, Gemma and Michal had some plans with Des, Anne had gone with them to lunch and Harry had rehearsals, but we had all agreed to meet for dinner at my place.
There was a knock on the door, and I smiled when I opened it and a very smiley but sweaty Harry was at the door, “Hello love”, he came in and I smiled, “Hi you! Guess what just arrived!”, his excited face made my heart soar, “The basinet! Oh, how exciting! Uhm, would you mind if I shower before we set everything up?”
I nodded and took him to the guest room, I went into the kitchen and continued preparing the cutlery and lasagna we were going to eat, about twenty minutes later Harry came out, “What can I help you with?”, I turned to look at him, “Why don’t we set the table and then unbox the bassinet?”
He nodded and we started working, after the table we went into my room, Harry was carrying the box and he opened it, after a few we assembled it and placed it beside my bed, Harry sat down next to me, I reclined my head on his shoulder and he spoke up
“It’s crazy, isn’t it? A baby will sleep there in a few days or weeks”, she laughed a little, “It is… H I was thinking, what if you come to stay with me, with us? I understand if you would prefer not to, but I want you to be as close to the baby as possible”
He pulled back and smiled at me, “Are you sure?”, I nodded, “On one condition, can we decorate for Christmas before they arrive?”, I smiled at him and nodded, “We will, let’s do it this weekend, after you rest from your concerts okay?”
Desperate knocks pulled us back from our bubble and we went to open, I could hear Gemma from the kitchen, “God brother what took you so long?”, “Hi to you too Gemma”, they all made their way into the kitchen where I was just finishing everything, “Hello mama! How are you?”, she hugged me and kissed my cheek loudly, I laughed a little, “Hiya babe! How did the sightseeing go?”, “It was awesome, the city has changed so much since the last time I was here”
A few seconds later we were joined by Anne, Des, Michal, and Harry, Anne came to my side and rubbed my belly and kissed my cheek, “Why don’t you sit down? I think we can handle what’s left darling”, I nodded and went into the dining room followed by Gemma, then everyone pitched in and brought dinner.
We ate and chatted for a while, Harry picked up the dishes and put them in the washer while Gemma brought out the dessert and coffee, while doing so Harry and I finished opening the books we had been gifted which included Good Night Moon, Guess How Much I Love You, The Creature Of Habit, Follow Your Dreams Little One, The Very Hungry Caterpillar and so many others.
Anne cleared her throat before standing up and giving us a wrapped box, “I know I have already gifted you some things, but I wanted to give you these, I have been dreaming of being able to knit for my little love and well now, I dream of seeing them use everything I”, I opened the box and felt instant tears in my eyes.
The first thing I pulled out was a yellow set with a bonnet, then there was a white sweater with cherries and a little headband, I then pulled out a pair of booties with a little pom-pom, a bunny lovey, two rompers, and a beautiful, knitted blanket, while I was admiring it Anne spoke up
“I will embroider their initials once they get here”, I placed everything beside me and stood up to hug her, “Thank you so much Anne, this baby is so lucky to have you as their Nana”, she laughed a little and let out a sob, “They’re even luckier to have you as their mum darling”, when we pulled back everyone had tears in their eyes.
Harry made his way to us, and we had another group hug, Harry then leaned to whisper in my ear, “Should we show them?”, I nodded and pulled back with a smile, “Hey guys, would you like to see the nursery?”, smiles, cheers and nods filled the dining room when we made our way to the nursery.
We stood up outside and let Anne open the nursery, “Oh…”, they all walked in and started looking at all the furniture and decorations we had chosen, “I cannot wait to see them in here”, Gemma was looking at the pictures we had hung up, “I love these pictures! And the ultrasound”, I went and stood up next to her, “We just have to set up the books and we will be done”
Harry came and stood up next to me and rubbed m belly, “You hear that little love? Give us a day and then you can come, okay?”, laughter was heard all around the little nursery and I squeezed his arm, “They’ll come when they are ready to come”, he smiled at me, “And I cannot wait for that day to come”
November 28, 2021: Week Thirty-Eight
New York, New York. 6:00 PM
Hi, my little love, I cannot believe you could be here any day now, it is crazy to think that just over nine months ago you were only a smudge and now I can even see your knees and elbows roll all around my belly.
There is so much to update you on little one, first and foremost everyone is back here! Your Nana Anne, Grandpa Des, uncle Micha,l and auntie Gem finally got to meet you, and you did get a scolding from her and your daddy on your almost early arrival, but they were just jesting, they are very happy and excited to see you.
We were also very lucky because your aunts and grandma and your dad organized a baby shower for us, it was bunny themed, which is very accurate because we now call you bunny love, all our guests gifted you a book lovely, and they wrote a letter for you to keep, I have stored them in a box, and I will show it to you one day <3
Your bassinet also arrived! Daddy was very nice and helped us put it together and it is now sitting in my bedroom and waiting for you to sleep in, I also have finished setting up our changing and post-partum stations.
Today is a very special day for your daddy baby, he is playing the last concert of his tour, it is truly special because he was very sad when he couldn’t start touring because of the pandemic, so being able to be back with your aunts and uncles in the stage and with his fans.
We are waiting for your aunt Glenne, and we will head over there and congratulate your daddy and give him a hug and kiss. Once the concert is over, I will be sure to let you know how it was! Also, please try to hold up until after his concert yeah?
A knock in the door made me close the diary, grab my bag and head to the door, I smiled when I opened it and Glenne was standing at the other side, “Mrs. Azoff you look smoking hot tonight!”, she pulled me in for a hug and smiled, “What about you huh? You look breathtaking!”
I smiled at her, “How much time do we have before we leave?”, she looked at the clock, “Uhm, maybe twenty, why?”, I smiled, “Do you wanna see the nursery?”, her eyes went as big as saucers, “Of course I want to! Come on show me!”, we made our way into the nursery, while she looked, I sat down on the rocking chair, she smiled and turned to look at me
“It’s crazy really to think that there will be a teeny tiny baby here so soon”, a hand ran down my bump, “I don’t know if teeny tiny is the best description according to my last appointment, but yes, it is crazy”, she squeezed my hand, “I cannot wait to kiss them”
November 28, 2021: Week Thirty-Eight
New York, New York. 8:00 PM
My heart started beating so fast when we pulled into the arena and I could see all the fans waiting for H, the vibe of the place was beautiful and I teared up thinking how proud I was, Glenne handed me my lanyard, and we made our way into the arena. While walking to the backstage area we found Jeff on the way there and he greeted us and let us know he was going to get some special guests for tonight.
We got to the greenroom where we said hello to the band and their family, along with Anne, Gem, Des, and Michal who had gone to catch a show, about ten minutes after we got here the door opened and jeff walked in with some guys and Olivia, I could feel Glenne tense behind me
“G are you okay?”, she sighed, “I promised I would control myself, but I truly wanna give her a piece of my mind after the shit she pulled with you”, I gave her a surprised face and turned to see if any of Harry’s family member caught anything of that, “Glenne shh! Please, I don’t want any more drama”
She then turned to see behind me, and a surprised loom took over her face, “They don’t know?”, I shook my head, “Or at least that is what I think, they haven’t mentioned anything to me; so either H told them not to say anything or they truly don’t know”, she whispered, “Knowing them, they would have lost their shit on Harry, Gemma maybe even on her, which in my opinion should be done”
I gave her a stern look, “You will not say a single word, Glenne, please, I don’t need the added stress”, she sighed and squeezed my arm, “I'm sorry, I really cannot believe that she had the audacity to discuss custody arrangements with H”, I sighed, “I know, but still, I need to be amicable with the future stepmother of my child”
Glenne stood up straighter when she saw someone behind me, before I could ask her what’s wrong, she muttered, “Speak of the devil”, I hit her arm “Glenne!”, I shushed her and turned to see that Olivia was making her way to us, I smiled through my facemask and waved my hand, Olivia stood in front of us and said hello, I had to nudge Glenne to say it back
“Hi Y/N”, “Olivia, hello”, before any of us could speak up Glenne asked, “What the hell are you doing here”, I gave her a stern look asking her to shut it, “Harry invited some of the Don’t Worry Darling production crew”, she hummed in agreement, tension was stiff so I tried to break it, “Thank you, by the way for the gifts, they were lovely”
She smiled a little, “The kiddos chose them, Daisy was so excited to buy them”, I nodded, a few seconds later she cleared her throat, “Uhm, I’ll go back to the crew, just wanted to say hello”, “You definitely should”, I spoke up, “Glenne, that’s enough”, Olivia gave me a sympathetic smile, “It’s okay, I know I deserve it, I just hope you guys are happy”
I furrowed my brows before turning to see Glenne, “What did she mean”, she gave me a teasing look, “Oh please, I know you know”, before I could speak up cheers and hollers were heard and we saw Harry had entered the room, I smiled when I saw him.
I stayed in the back of the room with Sarah, we had agreed I would watch little baby Rowland so that the nanny could enjoy the last concert, it had been about twenty minutes since H entered the room and he was still saying hello to people when he suddenly hugged me from behind and kissed my head, Sarah saw my face and gave me a look that it was okay, I turned to give him a hug and he kissed my forehead and then rubbed the belly, “You ready for this last ride?”
“I am, I will be cheering with baby Rowland”, he furrowed his brows and gave me a put, but God the urge to kiss his lips was very intense, “Why? I want to see you from the stage”, before he could mope more, I spoke up, “My feet are killing me H, and I am running out of breath faster than before”, he squeezed my arm, “But you are okay yeah?”, I nodded.
Jeff then cleared his throat and told everyone they should occupy their place on the pit before H was set to perform, I noticed that Harry did not acknowledge Olivia and that weirded me out, but I tried not to think too much about it, H hugged his family and he then leaned to kiss the belly and whisper to the baby that they should enjoy the concert.
He then stood up gave me a lazy smile and pulled me in for a hug, everyone had let us say pour goodbyes and he pressed his forehead to mine, he then quietly whispered, “Please forgive me for what I am about to do”, I furrowed my brows but before I could ask anything I felt him place his hand on my cheek and nudge his nose with mine before I felt his lips on mine.
I placed my hands on his cheeks and he squeezed my shoulder with his other hand; I truly don’t know how much time passed but we eventually had to pull back, he gave me another peck before pulling back and smirking at me, before he exited the room he turned and called my name, I turned to look at him, “Thank you for the good luck charm”
I walked out of the room and found Glenne holding baby Rowland, she handed him to me, and we waved to her, after she disappeared to the pit entrance and we walked into the dressing room and sat down on the floor to play; my mind was going a thousand miles along with my heart, he kissed me, I smiled and felt my lips with my hands, they were still tingling, oh God, it felt so wrong but so right, and I wanted him to kiss me again.
November 29, 2021: Week Thirty-Eight
New York, New York. 11:30 AM
After the success of the concert yesterday we ended up ordering some pizzas and lounging on the green room, Olivia left with the producers of the movie before dinner arrived, and Harry, well Harry was clingy and emotional. I was still processing what happened.
Jeff and Glenne, along with Anne and Gemma had planned this surprise brunch for H to celebrate the tour success and everyone was having a great time, I hadn’t been able to catch up with H and discuss what happened yesterday, but I knew we eventually would.
Glenne sat down next to me and handed me the drink she brought me, I gave her a small smile and took a gulp, I was so thirsty, she took a sip of her drink and I looked around the party when I furrowed my brows, “Hey Glenne, where’s Olivia?”, she gave me a funny look
“Why do you ask? I think we had enough of her, didn’t we? And besides I don’t think this is the place where she should be”, I turned to look at her and ran a hand down my belly where this baby was kicking up a storm, “What do you mean? Why? She is Harry’s girlfriend, isn’t she?”
Glenne snorted a little, when she saw that I didn’t laugh she sat up straighter, “Oh my God, he hasn’t told you”, my heart started beating so fast, “Who? Harry? What has he not told me?”, she shook her head, “I don’t think it is my place to tell you”
I grabbed her hand, “Glenne what happened?”, she sighed, “I really think you should ask Harry”, I gave her an angry stare, “Glenne Christiaansen Azoff do you want me to go into labor from the worry?”, she shook her head and sighed.
She made sure that there was nobody eavesdropping in our conversation and then she grabbed my hand and gave it a squeeze, “Babes, Harry and Olivia broke up in L.A.”, my heart stopped beating and my head was spinning, I whispered, “What?”
She sighed, “Look, I don’t really have a lot of information on what happened, but I know things are over between them; and they did not end up on very good terms”, she squeezed my hand, “You okay?”, I nodded, “This is a lot to take in”, Anne appeared behind me and said, “What is a lot to take in love?”, I froze and Glenne spoke up, “The fact that Bridgerton Season 3 will be about Colin and not Benedict right?”, I nodded and smiled.
Gemma and Anne sat next to me and were rubbing the belly and were discussing the names that H and I may have chosen because we had decided to keep them a secret until bunny is here, when all of a sudden I had an urge, so as I stood up I told them, “Hey I will go look for H, I need to talk to him”, they all nodded and I started walking to where I could see him standing with Harry L, Mitch, and Jeff.
November 29, 2021: Week Thirty-Eight
Harry. New York, New York. 12:00 PM
I was so thankful for the party my family had thrown for me, after the rush of the concert yesterday and the rush of kissing Y/N I was on Cloud 9, but add this party to the mix, I felt like bursting.
I haven’t had the opportunity to properly talk to Y/N, but just seeing her mingle with my family and friends made my heart burst enough, Jeff and Mitch had updated Harry L on my whole dating relationship, and I rolled my eyes as they teased me, but I took it gladly, I was busy watching Y/N and when everyone turned to see what I was seeing they started awwing before Harry L spoke up
“So, to what realization did you come after our conversation?”, he took a sip of the drink he had in his hand, the after party in full swing, I smiled and sighed before speaking up, “It’s always been her, there hasn’t been a moment when she was not, and I’m so stupid for having just realized this and having us go through so much heartbreak” I then turned my head to see Y/N with Gemma, my mom and Glenne, all of them caressing the bump, “And I vow to do whatever it takes to get her back”
Mitch clasped my back and they all laughed, “About damn time, and I know things will work out between you two, because you are soulmates”, I smiled and suddenly Jeff cleared his throat and I turned to see Y/N coming my way so they left so we could be together.
I smiled and so did she, I opened my eyes and kissed her forehead, “Hi you, I’ve missed you”, she squeezed, “I’ve missed you too”, we stayed like that for a few seconds before she cleared her throat, “Uhm, listen…”, I nodded and smirked, “I think we should talk about yesterday”, my heart dropped to my stomach, shit I screwed up, until I saw her smirk and my heart started beating faster, “Oh, you wanna talk about yesterday?”, she nodded.
I whispered in her ear “Meet me in five in the other side of the rooftop yeah?”, she squeezed my hand and said, “How about we do it now? Everyone is distracted”, I bit my lip and smiled, she grabbed my hand and turned to see if everyone was watching, we started walking to the other side of the rooftop. As soon as we were out of view, I pulled her into my arms and smirked, “So, where were we?”, she smirked and placed her hands on my neck and pulled me into her lips. I felt like crying because for the first time in a long time, I was home.

Special Delivery

Steven Grant X Reader
Rating: T
Warnings: DONNA, swearing (can I write a fic without swearing? Seems unlikely.), horrible customers.
A/N: This is for @littleferal 's Writers' Iron Chef! (No. 3 Prompt: "Stop that, right now." & Additional Prompt: An argument breaks out. It doesn't look like it's going to end well.) Wow, okay, in this one the words just happened in like a rush. (But does it make any sense... debatable.)
Summary: Being a delivery driver in London isn’t all bad, you get to see your favourite gift shopist pretty regularly.
Word Count: 1037
Masterlist | ao3 | want to be tagged?
You leaned on the pile of cardboard boxes on your trolley, the brake carefully clicked on. They were almost too high for you to rest your elbow comfortably, but you didn’t care.
The air inside the museum was cool, air conditioned and a thankful relief from the outside. You pulled on your t-shirt collar a little absentmindedly, the rough material was part of the uniform, practical for the most part.
Steven talked the whole time while he signed the delivery sheet pages – there were fifteen of them, a bit of an overreaction from the suppliers but whatever.
You stared at him, happy to listen to him speak, certain that you were a beat away from cartoon love hearts flashing around your face. He was your favourite part of your day, one of the reasons you always made sure you were the one that got the museum’s delivery route.
“So, yeah, that was a mess really.” He finished his last squiggle and looked back up to you.
Those large eyes and that kind smile took your thoughts away for a moment.
You stumbled over your words, trying not to make a fool of yourself. “That’s erm, that’s really bad… Sounds like a right headache.”
Steven nodded. “It was,” he shrugged. “But hey, that’s what an expert stock taker like me has to do, sort out all the messes.” His smile broke into a grin, there was a playfulness in his voice making it clear that he was trying to poke fun of himself.
“You’ll be running this place in no time.” You said, a little too seriously, the earnestness to your words felt like a betrayal of your heart. You covered them up quickly “Ddo you want me to take these down to the stock room for you?” and missed the softness in Steven’s expression, the small intake of breath.
It wasn’t something you were meant to do; it certainly wasn’t something you offered anyone else.
“You don’t hav-”
“Nah,” you waved a dismissive hand at him. “My pleasure, traffic out there is fantastic as usual, give me a chance to stretch my legs?”
He beamed and nodded, fiddling with his shirt sleeve. “Well, only if it won’t make you late.”
You opened your mouth to speak but your words were abruptly cut off.
“Stop that, right now.” Donna’s normally harsh voice had an extra edge, a hint of panic.
You looked over Steven’s shoulder as he turned around to see his manager talking to a dark-haired woman at the till.
There was a pause, a second before an emotional fire caught light.
“How dare you!” The woman screamed, slamming her hands down on the desk. “First you accuse me of trying hustle you! Now you assume I’m stealing!”
“Miss, I told you, museum policy doesn’t let us give change without a purchase and we don’t accept fifty pound n-“
“I don’t give a shit!” She leaned in closer to Donna, shrieking right in her face. “I am not stealing!”
“The books, in your bag-”
The woman continued to yell, cutting off any other hopes of Donna getting a word in edgeways. The customer to lean closer again, practically horizontal like she was about to climb the counter, her hands clenched into fists, her face red. Oh this didn’t look good.
Steven took a few steps forward, a slow but sure movement, his hands up. “Hey, you alright?” He spoke to the woman, his voice soft and calming. He gave Donna a quick glance, the usually stern woman looked shaken.
The customer turned, spittle on her chin from screeching. She seemed to pause when she saw Steven.
“Are you this bitch’s manager?” She wasn’t exactly screaming, but she certainly wasn’t talking softly either.
“I-”
“She accused me of stealing!” She pointed at Donna without looking. “Her! This is just fucking awful, ‘m a paying customer, do you know how much money I’ve donated to the museum?”
You took a step closer to Steven, not wanting to provoke the customer from hell (there was a reason you didn’t work public facing roles) but wanting to have his back if he needed it.
“I completely understand,” Steven continued to talk gently, soothing the woman into a slightly less extreme state, while Donna carefully moved from around the counter to grab J.B..
It was only a few minutes later that she was being guided away from the gift shop by two guards to a back room, to ‘have a chat’.
“Are you alright Donna?”
“Yeah, fine Stevie, thanks.” She didn’t look at him, and Steven didn’t press further. She looked like all the air had been sucked from her lungs. “I’m just gonna take the delivery down to the stock room and sort it, you man the till.”
“Of course.”
She took the trolley with a small nod to you and headed to the elevator.
“Wow.” You said and Steven turned back to you.
“Yeah.”
“Does that happen a lot?”
“You know,” Steven rubbed back of his head. “Not as much as it could.” He let out a mixture of a sigh and a laugh to break the tension.
“Well… good… You did amazing there, gift shop hero.”
He laughed a little more genuinely this time.
“Aww I don’t know about that, just… helping out, all that.”
You smiled. He could have let Donna crash and burn; god knows she wasn’t the kindest manager by any stretch of the imagination.
“Well, my hero then.”
The hint of red rising to his cheeks was impossible not to notice. Oh, what the hell. You only live once.
“What time do you finish today?”
“Sorry?”
“What ti-”
“Five, five thirty.” He spluttered out.
You nodded, biting your lip in a smile at his flustered state.
“Well, if you can put up with being driven in a delivery van, I could pick you up?” You leaned a little closer to him. “We could do something?”
Steven nodded, a little dumbfounded for a moment before he found his voice. “Yes… yeah! Great, swell,” he swallowed. “Definitely.”
“Okay.” You nodded. “See you later Steven!” You gave him a wink and a wave before you turned around.
Steven raised his hand to you, his heart buzzing with excitement.

“AN ORDINARY DATE”
[ masterlist ] [ reblogs are v v v appreciated ]
fluff, perhaps a bit angsty ???, romantic relationship, satoru gojō x gn!reader
warning(s) : use of pet names (love, dearest), spending little time with your partner, not proofread ;
words count : 765 words
plot : “after being both of you busy for some time, finally it arrives a day which must be spent with your beloved”.
a/n : i was thinking so much about satoru lately :( thus i used this as an excuse to write a scenario about him <3 my man ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹.
Tumblr media
“you are hiding something, aren’t you?”
that had been your first reaction at satoru’s soft-spoken words, which asked you out for a walk in the best-stocked part of the city.
in all your time spent together as significant others — which, in all honesty, wasn’t much —, your usual dates were almost never… peaceful. being sorcerers meant assuming extreme risks in order to protect who couldn’t protect their own self, going on dangerous missions in the middle of the night, encountering curses when it was lunchtime and having to fight them mostly during dates.
on top of that, your partner was satoru gojō, the strongest, most powerful sorcerer of your generation: if you were quite busy, he was ten times more busy, between perilous journeys for the higher-ups’ sake and days of training with his students. it seemed impossible to rest in tranquility given the unpredictable circumstances both of you had to face day after day.
however, when satoru gently asked if you had some time to spare with him, he was genuinely sincere, relaxedness plastered on his angelic face: his deep, blue eyes were grinning at you through his sunglasses lens while his light, snowy eyelashes quietly fluttered, not to mention his lips, curved upwards in a sparkling smile. his body language didn’t show any sign of lies awaiting to be exposed, but with him you could never be certain of something.
in the end, you gave up your own protest questions, which initially served (in vain) to get more information from gojō, and accepted his invitation. you couldn’t deny you wanted to spend time with him.
and so, here you were, walking through the crowded streets of tokyo with one of your partner’s arms around your shoulders.
“love, what would you like to do first? i have in mind a few places,” satoru gave you a kiss on your temple and started rambling about all kinds of possible destinations, listing them one by one with specific descriptions to give you an idea of those locations; that was an area quite frequented by him due to his job as a teacher for young sorcerers, which was practiced by him in tokyo’s outskirts, not so far from there.
it was late afternoon, however the heat of the day was still lingering in the air: a place indoors would have solved thhe problem.
“hm, what about [ place ]? it’s been a long time since i put step in one,” you said, thinking about it. “also, right now i don’t feel like staying in the crowded streets, if you don’t mind. then we can go to a confectionery, for your beloved sweets”.
needless to say, he immediately agreed to your suggestion: his sweet tooth got the better of him.
so, having chosen your first destination, you didn’t sense any malevolent energy and so decided to relax a bit: it was just an ordinary afternoon, you could stop worrying for a moment.
the hours passed: you two explored different places between laughs and smiles, kisses and hugs, having lots of fun as it hadn’t happened for some time. it truly was a peaceful day without work-related interferences, something ‘normal’ human beings experienced almost on a daily basis.
when the sun began to set, you headed for a more secluded place, where there were fewer people. the view from there was magnificent: the sky, tinged with warm colors, was starting to darken, making way for shades of blue.
admiring intently the landscape, you sighed. how long had you not been watching the sunset? how long… had you not spent your time in such a calm way?
you cleared your throat. “it’s… rather unusual this serenity. i won’t lie, i expected some kind of awful thing to happen, something which could have ruined our time. however, i was surprised, positively surprised, at how the day turned out. thank you, satoru, truly”.
he glanced at you with a smug grin. “aw, this sappy speech of yours was quite good. in fact, i think i might start crying”.
you nudged him for his sarcasm, although you were content, and he didn’t dodge.
“jokes aside, i’m glad we both have enjoyed our time together, my dearest. i hope there will be other times like this one”. a genuine smile made its way to satoru’s lips, then he proceeded to squeeze lightly your hand with his.
“i hope so too”, you said in a whisper, bringing his hand to your lips and softly kissing his knuckles.
that had been your ordinary date.
you two were looking forward to having more, that was certain.

Whumptober 2022 Day 3: A Hair's Breadth from Death
The Shadowhand knew what his fatal error was. He had slipped, and allowed the ginger haired Scourger into his life, despite every warning sign not to. Let himself believe that the man could be saved, could be turned away from the darkness of his past and into the light of his future. Their future, together, where they could run away and study and live a happy, quiet life.  Essek had been a fool, and now he was paying the price.
The price, it turned out, was a cold steel knife aimed at his kidney, his arm twisted painfully behind his back, and the scent of the dying fire filling the bedroom.  The bedroom that he shared with Bren.
“Well, Shadowhand, it appears your little game is over.” the deep voice behind him growled.  Wulf, if he remembered from Bren’s stories.
They had come into the room so fast, that Essek had barely noticed. He knew exactly how, of course.  Bren had disabled the arcane security system that kept Essek’s towers guarded against incursions, and let them in. It was quite literally the only possible solution. And Essek hadn’t even registered Bren leaving the bed.  Light, the man got up to pad around the room and get a drink most nights anyways, so Essek had grown used to it.
For a brief second, he wondered if that, too, had been part of the ploy.  Get Essek used to him getting up and out of bed, so when he did that night, it seemed normal. How long had Bren been planning this? Had he always wanted this? Essek had been so sure that Bren had changed. But maybe he had just been wrong.
Across from him, his fire-haired wizard stood stock still, posture perfect and face hardened. Essek looked into his eyes, ice blue and so kind just hours before, searching for any indication of his true mind.  It was no use though. Essek found nothing but cold determination and emptiness.  He wanted to return the same distant resignation, but he couldn’t.  Essek could already feel tears streaming down his face as Wulf held him steady.  He knew that any begging would be in vain, though, and didn’t bother.
Beside Bren, stood the woman.  Astrid, looking just as he had described, her hand a steadying brace on his shoulder.
“Do you have any last words, Shadowhand? Or will you enter the Hells a silent, sobbing mess?” she asked, her voice laced with venom.
“F-fuck you.” Essek spat. Behind him, Wulf pressed the dagger in further, tearing into the skin a bit. He let out a shout, and Astrid simply smiled.
“You know, Bren told us something very interesting about you, Shadowhand.  Can you guess what it is?” she teased, stepping forwards a bit, her hand still guiding Bren. “He told us that you are not consecuted. So, when you die here, you will die for good. You will not get the chance to come back and stalk this world again. You, like all the rest of us, will rot wither and be no more. Isn’t that wonderful?”
“N-no…he…no…” Essek sobbed, looking to Bren. It couldn’t be true. It had been Essek’s closest secret, told only after many drinks and kisses had opened him up.  And now, here he was, suing that knowledge to rip him apart. To kill him in his own home, under the teasing light of a Luxon that would do nothing to protect his soul.  It was cruel. But then, cruelty was the way of the Scourgers, in the end.
“Oh yes, Shadowhand. But, truly, if. You have nothing left to tell us, I would rather have Wulf end this now.  If we have questions, a cleric can ask your corpse.”
“Say goodbye.” Wulf said from behind him, the dagger pressing deeper.  Essek shouted again, another sob ripping out of him.
“B-Bren…” The name of the man he almost loved, almost ran away with, almost lived with, was the last word on his lips. Without a moment’s hesitation, Wulf impaled him with the dagger, the blade tearing through muscle and bone. Essek’s vision flashed bright, blinding white for a second, before fading into black.
It was a shame, really, that Esseks vision faded so fast.  That he went unconscious without looking closer at Bren. If he had, he would have seen the tears, streaking silently down Bren’s face, as he tried and failed to hide them from his fellow Volstrucker. He would have seen Wulf looking right at Bren as he told Essek to say goodbye, and he would’ve seen Astrid tightening her grip on his shoulder, preventing him from running to the body.
If Essek had remained conscious for only a few more moments, he would have seen Bren break down, falling to his knees as the life faded from the elf's eyes.

I decided I wasn’t quite done with these. I HAD to finish the last two AU Settings I did not get a chance to get to. (I just thought I would have finished them a little earlier, like still in May. 😅)
Tagging @lordoftherazzles because I blame you for this, and @blueberryrock to judge my Thranduil writing abilities. 🤣
Masterlist for these drabbles here. Check out the original post/prompt list. And feel free to send me requests if there are any specific combinations/pairings you want to see. I mean, it’s not May any more, but I like the challenge!
Rival Shops + Hair Stylist + "Did you enjoy yourself last night?" + Barduil
Lasgalen Locks was revered as more than just ‘a place that cuts hair’. It was a trend setter for the women (and most of the men) of Dale. One simply didn’t go to Thranduil telling him what they wanted. He decided how best to make them fabulous, and they would leave as a satisfied customer. For years, no one dared to oppose him in the world of hair, and then the Hair Shop opened up right across the street.
“Such arrogance. The Hair Shop. As if they were the only one in town. As if they were the best in town.” Thranduil murmured under his breath.
“Dad, please don’t tell me you’re going to use the binoculars again.” Legolas complained as he passed him, a cup of coffee in hand.
“Not to fear.” Thranduil turned with a smirk. “I’ve seen all I need to of Bard.”
Legolas rolled his eyes, and Thranduil had to bite his tongue not to give himself away anymore. In all honesty, Thranduil would never have given a second thought to having competition. His self-confidence wouldn’t allow for something so trivial. It was just that…the owner was unfairly attractive. With his long dark curls that he tragically hid in a bun when he was working. Thranduil had been unable to pull his eyes away. And then he watched his methods, and he became hot for an entirely new reason.
What kind of a neanderthal used clippers on every haircut? The men walked out of his shop looking exactly the same! With the exception of Durin’s oversized bodyguard who seemed to delight in waving at Thranduil before getting his head shaved. Honestly, the mohawk had suited the man just fine. It wasn’t his fault he was surrounded with people of very little taste. To make matters worse, Bard seemed fully aware of Thranduil’s disdain for his abilities. Signs had started to appear in the window advertising:
Simple Cuts! Don’t expect me to get fancy with it.
It was obviously meant to be a slight against him. Which is why Thranduil had Legolas and Tauriel respond in kind with:
Personalized to you, come make your hair DO.
Which was frankly rather cheesy and tacky, but Thranduil left it up if only because Bard shook his head and laughed every time he saw it.
“You could just go over there and ask for his number like a normal person.” Legolas noted. “I’ll even try not to be weirded out by my dad dating again.”
Thranduil scoffed. “I’m not desperate enough to sink to the level of Bard Bowman. Honestly, if you have enough energy to sass, you might as well make yourself useful and take stock of our colors.”
“I’m pretty sure I did that last night. When you were scouting the competition again.”
Adult children were the worst. What had Thranduil been thinking? Unfortunately, before he could snark the cocky shit, their first customer had entered. After all, Thranduil had a reputation to keep, of a calm, cool, and poised persona. Any thoughts of Bard or Legolas’ teasing about said man, were left by the wayside…all up until that night anyways.
They were going through the motions of closing down when movement across the street caught Thranduil’s attention, freezing him in place. A woman stood with her back to him, but she seemed to be gesturing excitedly about something before she threw herself into Bard’s arms. Thranduil wouldn’t have thought much of it, except he had a perfect view of Bard’s face. His open, loving smile nearly undid him as he realized with an unfair amount of envy that the man was straight. Honestly, what else had Thranduil expected. Look at the way he cut hair!
Thranduil had paused in front of the window watching Bard lock the door to his shop before putting his hand on the woman’s back to lead her down the sidewalk back to his beat-up jeep. Unfortunately, the man looked over at him only to freeze slightly at seeing Thranduil staring back. He gave a small wave and nod of his head before turning back to the woman. Thranduil snorted as he continued to go through his own steps for closing. He thought it would help him get over the man. Instead, he spent all night long thinking about him with her.
***
The next morning, Thranduil was unlocking the shop when he heard someone call his name. He looked back over to see Bard jogging over. He had to resist the urge to sneer at the man as he closed the distance.
“Hey, I had a question for you.” Bard started.
"Did you enjoy yourself last night?" Thranduil interrupted.
Bard raised an eyebrow. “I? Yes? Thank you for asking. Sigrid was excited because her editor loved her recent manuscript and it’s going to print next month.”
“You must be very proud.” Thranduil snarked.
“I am, yes.” Bard brightened, Thranduil’s tone clearly going over his head. “But then again, wouldn’t any father?”
Thranduil was immediately brought up short at that. Father…then that woman, Sigrid, was his…
“Sigrid is my daughter, yes.” Bard clarified with a smirk as if he could see Thranduil’s surprise written on his face.
Thranduil’s brows pinched together as he ducked his head, hating his faux pas and how it exposed him. A heavy silence hung over them as he wished more than anything for the other man just to go away so he could lick his metaphorical wounds.
“So anyways.” Bard cleared his throat. “I was wondering if you would like to go to dinner? With me? It doesn’t have to be tonight, just…sometime.”
Thranduil gave him a sharp look wondering if he was just teasing him at this point.
“Why?” He demanded.
“Because I like you. I think you’re cute, and I realized last night after I caught you staring for the twelve time that you weren’t ever going to do anything about it.”
Thranduil’s grip tightened around the door knob as he glared at the smiling man. He finally released a sigh through his nose.
“I hope your taste in restaurants is better than your taste in hair. I refuse to enter any establishment with the name ‘Shop’ or worse ‘Diner’ in the title.”
“So Bombur’s Diner is out then?” Bard smirked.
Thranduil really hoped he was joking, and it seemed he was as he gave a quick bark of laughter at his face.
“Don’t worry. I’ll find somewhere worthy of His Majesty’s presence.”
“You’re annoying.” Thranduil complained. “Go away now. I expect to see you here at six.”
“I look forward to it.” Bard confirmed, giving a short bow before walking back across the street.
Thranduil rolled his eyes as he finally entered his salon. Bard Bowman was even more aggravating in person, and yet Thranduil found himself checking the clock every ten minutes for the rest of the day.

I’ve been thinking about body hair and my relationship to it bc idk, it’s just been bouncing around in my mind lately. I feel like for the longest time I had a terrible relationship to it just because of how, at least in my own experience, I was so expected to remove practically everything just to not be considered lazy or gross. This got stupidly long because I’m droning so I put under a read more.
I was really young when my mom got me my first razor (10 or so) and when I got a little older I got the notion in my mind that if I didn’t remove hair EVERYwhere (legs, arms, groin, stomach, etc), I was disgusting. Idk, I saw how girls around me seemed to do the same thing, how people looked in media and shit back then, and it just ingrained itself into my mind. And there were always things that seemed to validate what I was doing, like shaving my arms so I wouldn’t get teased for them anymore since as a kid they were pretty hairy (though I guess the hair has lightened as I got older, I think that’s not abnormal). Another example was having been with some friends and asking if they shaved ~down there~ because I was trying to figure out what was normal and they were like “duh, of course we do”. So it was like. Okay. Well. Guess I’ll just keep doing this even though it’s annoying and time consuming and feels pointless.
I was overly aware of how my body appeared to other people and how I wanted it to be as inoffensive as possible (also had a severe ED at that time which maybe partially played into that but ofc there were other things behind that since EDs aren’t normally just about body issues). I also placed a lot of value on how men saw me, because I listened to how so many of my guy friends talked about girls and didn’t want to be one of the ones that was marked gross or whatever. Idk why that was such a big deal to me, I feel like it has to do with being teased in general for being kind of weird and hyper and so not wanting to add anymore to it, plus boys that age could be so absolutely brutal about appearances. These same guy “friends” I had were pretty shitty in general though, esp bc it was the first time I realized the growing aspects of my bisexuality. They had already written a “fic” about me molesting my best girl friend, I didn’t need to give them more ammo in that sense (I was in hs in the early 2000s ok, back when “gay” and “dyke” were insults thrown at any kid who showed any signs. Kids today are so much luckier they’re encouraged to explore those things 😫 I often wonder what my life would be like now if that had been the case for me growing up). I think another part of all this is that my mom always put a ton of stock into her own appearance and if I didn’t, it made me feel guilty over it because I was a reflection on her and my dad and how they parented me (was made very clear of this, they wanted a child who was obedient and "normal").
It took soooo long for me to detach myself from these sort of ideas. I think it wasn’t until much later when I started thinking more critically about why I was doing those things that the idea of not doing them floated around more often in my mind. It helped too to meet more people who were GNC and just let their body hair do whatever, that it wasn’t the end of the world to have it, that it kind of helps dealing with gender-relevant things too. I do hate though that sometimes it feels like having body hair is read as some kind of political statement instead of just…a very minor personal decision on what makes you more comfortable. And I do still think it’s a major issue that it’s still such an expected thing, that it’s more normal than just keeping your body hair because that’s just how your body is. Sometimes I do question when I hear other people say “oh no it’s just my preference” though, because I used to say that too until I really worked through my body hair hang ups and honestly, I imagine a lot of others do feel conflicted about it butttt going against the grain, so to speak, is scary. It's okay to feel conflicted, but sometimes it really is a question of...is this actually my preference or am I just trying to meet certain standards because that's what I've grown used to now. Like if you live in a place where this is more uncommon, you shouldn’t have to endure stares and comments regarding your fucking leg hair or whatever. In the grand scheme of things, who the fuck cares? It’s hair, not a contagious illness. It isn’t dirty or gross to be hairy. (Plus being fuzzy can feel nice, and the hair is a barrier between your skin and outside irritants and things like that, so win-win).
In the end, I’m more comfortable with it now. I really like having it because it just makes me feel more like me. However, I’m still not fully at the point where I can leave it ALL the time. Like if I go visit my parents at the beach, I feel like I’d get too annoyed of comments to deal with having it be visible. I want to still work through that, but it does get hard when it comes to my family since I’m an only child and my entire life was spent trying to appease them until I finally got enough therapy to move past that lol. There are still lingering aspects of it though, like with this. But they got over (or at least pretended to get over) my tattoos and slightly stretched ears. Surely they can get over something that is just naturally there.
Anyway, this was long but ty for coming to my TED talk. In the end, this was my own experience and wasn't meant to make anyone feel guilty for liking or not liking body hair, it's just how I've come to my own position on it. Do what makes you happy, and if you feel inclined to explore it more wrt your own body, do that! It's your body, you deserve to feel comfortable in it because you live in there.

Happy Birthday
(God this is late)
Fandom: She-Ra and The Princesses of Power
Summary: Happy Birthday. These words should bring joy to the person they're said too, it's a word that implies a celebration. Friends coming over, presents being given out. It was supposed to be a happy occasion to celebrate ones birth. So forgive Angella for being worried about Adora when she grows increasingly uncomfortable every time the subject is brought up in relation to her.

(Story under the cut for those who don’t want to read on AO3 or FF)
Angella had been through quite a lot in her life.
Even before the Horde and the war she’d had many trials coming up as a princess and even more as a queen for Brightmoon. She’d lost many people she considered friends and family alike. In fact, among the names on that list, only two were left in the form of Princess Netossa and Princess Spinerella.
But through those years she’d gained things as well. Perspective, patience and a headstrong daughter that challenged both. It’s because of those things that she had noticed exactly how Adora reacted when the subject of her birthday came up.
It was at the end of one of their strategy meetings that it was brought up the first time. The former force captain had been a boon to the Alliance when it came to stopping the Horde. No longer were they reactive or defensive but taking the fight to them. She had never expected their savior to come from the enemy, but she supposed irony could be useful at times.
Even still, it ached her to know that she had to rely on a child to help win her war.
It’s why even she perked up when Glimmer made her announcement.
“Now that the boring stuff is out of the way we can discuss something important. Adora’s birthday!”
Angella couldn’t help but smile at her daughter’s enthusiasm, Glimmer had inherited more of her father than she would ever know. She cared deeply for those she loved, which only fueled her desire to win against the Horde. As queen, Angella couldn’t simply sideline her daughter from her place in it. It’d not only be hypocritical but a sign of weakness.
After losing Micah, Angella couldn’t be seen as weak again. Couldn’t afford to be.
Plus, Glimmer was seen as a part of She-Ra’s unit at this point. It wouldn’t do good for morale if the princess and commander of Brightmoon were to suddenly stop fighting alongside their living legend.
Speaking of that legend.
“It’s not that big a deal guys.” Adora chuckled even as everyone clamored around. “Really, we have more important things to worry about.”
“But it’s your birthday!” Bow exclaimed. “We have to have a party!”
The other princess agreed, most of them beginning to talk about plans and who to invite and Angella would have sat back in silent enjoyment of it…but then she took stock in Adoras reaction. Normally something like would be a rare opportunity for Angella to simply relax and move her thoughts away from the war effort, it was so rare to find enjoyment nowadays. She was so focused on defending, on preserving her forces and her citizens' lives day in and out that something like Princess Prom or a Princess birthday was an enticing distraction.
However through the years Angella had developed a keen eye…and it noticed how the girl in question seemed nonplussed at the idea of an entire party in her honor.
Even a year after living with her Angella found herself discovering new things about the girl. Her tells for example, she didn’t show it often but when the blonde was uncomfortable she got tense, her fingers twitched along with her eyebrow and her smile didn’t quite reach her eyes.
Angella frowned. “I think that this conversation can be tabled for a different time.”
“But mom—”
“Another time Glimmah.” Angella said a bit more sternly causing her daughter to deflate and grumble.
But Adora relaxed, her smile becoming a bit less strained as everyone got up to leave. Angella felt herself do the same. She had enough on her shoulders when she was out there fighting. She didn’t need to feel pressured while she was inside her halls.
Still…she couldn’t help but be worried.
(LINE BREAK)
That worry increased only a week later.
“Glimmer—”
“Nope!”
“Glimmer seriously quit it!”
“Nope! Your birthday is in four days, Adora. That means no work.” Her daughter said cutting Adora off again. “Relax, we’ll be fine without you.”
Angella didn’t miss the way Adora deflated at the news, moresoe at how Glimmer had ended that sentence. Even from her spot around the corner she could see the girls fight flicker out and unfortunately it wasn’t the first time this had happened. Adora had been fighting against Glimmer’s suggestions to be taken out of field work and usually she succeeded, but it seemed that today she was at the end of her rope. She was not happy with what Glimmer was trying to do. Glimmer, oblivious to her friends change in attitude, seemed happy she’d gotten her friend to listen but Adora seemed anything but.
When her daughter left Angella watched as Adora crossed her arms and leaned her head against the nearby wall. She frowned when she saw her begin to tap her foot, her hands clutching at her sleeves.
It was this moment that Angella decided to approach.
“Adora?”
“A-Angella! I mean your majesty! Ma’am!”
Angella frowned as Adora floundered into a salute. She thought they’d be past this by now.
“You can call me Angella, Adora, I think we’re past the formalities at this point.” She said, causing the younger girl to blush.
“Right ma--, Angella.”
The angelic Etherian gave her a small smile. “Would you mind walking with me? I require your help with something.”
The immediate mood change could be seen by the densest of people. The way Adora brightened and nodded excitedly at the thought of helping her was both heartwarming and worrying. The heel change was too abrupt but it wasn’t something Angella would talk to her about, not now anyway.
“What exactly do you need help with? If you don’t mind me asking?”
“I’ve been putting off reordering some things in the Royal Library.” Angella explained. “I could do it myself, but I feel it would go better with your help.”
Adora beamed in response, her steps becoming both eager and just a little bit faster as they approached their destination.
‘Adorable.’ Angella thought with a smile.
They spent about two hours in the library. Angella had never seen someone be so excited to organize books correctly. Adora was meticulous in her work, going over every book section like a fine comb to adjust and replace them all. She even began to go above what Angella had assigned her, just moving on without prompt or her say so.
When Angella asked her to hand her books she did so without question, when she asked Adora to go and move the shelves she did it in half the time it would take a normal person.
By the time they were done they were finished an hour earlier than planned. When she told Adora that she’d never seen someone look so prideful at a job well done.
“Thank you Adora.” Angella praised, smiling slightly at the shorter girl. “I couldn’t have done that in such a timely manner without you. Normally this task is droll and endless. You were a big help, both in getting it done, and keeping it entertaining.”
“Of course your majesty!” Adora beamed before wincing at her slip up. “Sorry.”
“It’s alright Adora.” Angella smiled.
It was instinctual really.
She used to do it to Glimmer all the time when she was younger, whenever she did a good job on something Angella would always pat her back or ruffle her hair. She would laugh, feigning annoyance but never actually pulling away until she was much older. So, she shouldn’t have been surprised when Adora did the same…but she was.
Because once again Adora reacted differently than the norm.
When Angella reached her hand out Adora didn’t lean into it or look at her surprised, no…no Adora flinched. She flinched and went stock still. Her eyes went wide with an emotion that Angella heartbreakingly recognized as fear.
It was silent between the two for a long time, the more it stretched on the more Angella could see that Adora was getting more and more afraid. Afraid of her.
Why? What had Angella done that could warrant this sudden display of fear? The apprehension in her gaze?
She waited for Adora to tell her but soon realized that wasn’t a possibility. Not with how she was locking up.
“Adora?”
The blonde gulped. “I—I’m sorry your majesty I—”
“Don’t apologize.” Angella spoke softly. “I’m the one at fault here, I shouldn’t have done that without asking first.”
“I-it’s fine really!” Adora exclaimed. “It just shocked me, that’s all, if you really wanted to you could touch me if you wanted. Totally cool.”
Adora was many things, a good liar she was not.
“Adora. If you don’t want me to do something all you need to do is ask me not to.” The queen said. “It does not extend to this either, if anything here makes you uncomfortable I want you to tell me.”
Adoras’ blue eyes went wide, as if she couldn’t fathom that type of freedom given to her. Angella realized that train of thought was probably correct. She may not talk about her time in the Horde but Adora did grow up there. Angella had no idea what it was like only that it had raised Adora to be a soldier.
She wasn’t inducted into the army. She didn’t have a life before the military. Her life was the military. Angella knew that with that life, freedom wasn’t exactly a commodity.
Especially in wartime.
“I---thank you, your majesty.”
“You’re welcome.” She smiled, Adora returned the gesture. Her body relaxed as Angella took a step back. “You know…I do have other tasks to do today, I wouldn’t mind some help.”
She had to struggle to keep down her chuckle at the excitement on Adoras face.
(LINE BREAK)
It went on like this for the next two days.
Adora would find herself being left out of missions or simple recon and Angella would swoop in and give her something to do. Whether it was simple reorganization, taking stock of supplies or helping Angella with diplomatic letters and responses as she was doing now.
“The Star Sisters are requisitioning more support. The Horde sent more reinforcements to their front.” Adora frowned. “We can spare a platoon for them, but I think sending them some Cavalry would do them better than foot soldiers.”
“How so?”
“With the terrain there the Horde will have difficulty getting their reinforcements in and prepared.” Adora continued, unfurling a map of Etheria and pointing at the mountains in the Star Kingdom. “Using Cavalry should get us there in time to set up an ambush.”
“What of the robots?” Angella asked, steepling her fingers. “They’ve caused their fair share of destruction lately.”
“Shouldn’t be a problem, even with Entraptas modifications the natural terrain should encumber them. They’ll take the back paths as to not be obvious but going that way’ll have them lose at least half of the machines to the cliff falls or rockslides.”
Angella let out a low hum. “I agree. You’ve been studying, well done Adora.”
The girl blushed and kept her eyes down but Angella could see the smile that graced her face.
“Thank you your majesty, I—”
“ADORA!”
The girl in question let out a surprised yelp and Angella sighed as Glimmer teleported into the room. In her hands was a large white cardboard box wrapped up in red wrapping paper.
“Look what came in the mail!” Glimmer exclaimed, excitedly shoving the gift forward. “Perfuma sent you an early birthday gift!”
“Oh that’s…nice...?” Adora asked, confusion written on her face as she took the gift. “Um, why is it wrapped up in a box?”
“It’s supposed to be a surprise!” Glimmer explained her brows knitting in her own state of confusion. “What’s the point of giving a gift without a little mystery? You guys didn’t have stuff like this in the Horde?”
“Not really?” Adora winced. “When it was someone’s birthday their squad usually celebrated with a bunch of rations and a few things. If we had gifts we just—gave them you know?”
She smiled as she talked, the memories she was expressing making her lax and…happy. Angella didn’t think anything about the Horde could make anybody happy but there was the evidence right in her face. Seventeen years in that cruel place she called home and Adora had memories of it being just that. Home.
“I remember this one time Catra and Lonnie—”
“Well, that sucks.”
Adora frowned as Glimmer crossed her arms, her own frown marring her face. “Birthdays are supposed to be fun and big. People coming to celebrate you with you.”
“Wait big? Glimmer how many people are coming over?”
“You remember Princess Prom? It’s gonna be like that.”
Angella sat up straighter at the look on Adoras face, the calm there now being replaced with shock and a tinge of horror at the news.
“Wait Glimmer I don’t think that’s a good idea. I’ve been meaning to tell you but I’d really rather it just be you, me, Bow and Angella I don’t need everyone coming here and—”
“Nonsense!” Glimmer cut Adora off, slinging her arm around her shoulder unbidden to her friend’s growing uncomfortableness. “It needs to be big, Adora! Your first birthday party! Your first real one! People coming over to celebrate She-Ra!”
Adora wilted and Angella narrowed her eyes, they went to Perfuma’s gift quickly finding the tag that read ‘To: The She-Ra, from Princess Perfuma.’
She-Ra.
Not Adora.
Angella felt a pit begin to form in her stomach.
“Glimmer, Adora and I were in the middle of important matters.” She said firmly, drawing her daughter’s attention. “I’m sure you have much to talk about, but it can be done at a later time.”
Glimmer blinked and looked down, for the first time noticing the scattered documents and maps along the table. She frowned, narrowing her eyes as she turned to Adora.
“I thought I told you not to work Adora! You got to rest!”
“Well, yeah but Angella asked me for help and—”
“Nope!” The purple haired girl cut her off. “You can do all this boring stuff later! If you’re gonna work then I can tell you how your party is going to go.”
“Glimmah!” Angellas yell surprised all in the room, she was stern most of the time sure but yelling? Angella didn’t yell. “Adora is helping me out of her own free will, I understand your excitement and wanting her to rest but I require her aid now. If you want to hinder that, then you can leave the room.”
Her child seemed…no, she was hurt by the harsh tone Angella used. However, the queen pushed down the feeling of guilt that wanted to crawl up from her chest. She couldn’t allow this to continue. Not when it looked like Adora was growing weary with each passing word Glimmer was hammering in. Angella knows that Glimmer didn’t mean anything by it, she knows her intentions were pure---but she couldn’t see past herself.
Past her wants. It was a good trait Glimmer had that she cared for her friends…but she was also blinded by it. Blinded by the good she thought and was doing that she couldn’t or wouldn’t hear the opinions of anyone else.
“Mom but—”
“Clear the room Commander Glimmer.”
“You can’t just—”
“Now.”
Glimmer teleported away, leaving the room in stunned silence. Adora looked at Angella as she sat down with a sigh, her hands covering her face as she picked up another document.
“I—you didn’t have too—”
“You were uncomfortable.”
It was a statement. Not a question.
“You were uncomfortable, my daughter was making it worse. I think—I think that of all our talk of hating and fighting the Horde we forget that you grew up there. That it was your home and…we shouldn’t disregard that. We shouldn’t disregard you.”
Angella looked up at Adora with a tired smile, the girl looking back at with confusion…and gratefulness.
“Your opinion matters Adora…now, what were you going to say earlier?”
Adora smiled.
(LINE BREAK)
January Nineteenth. Adoras birthday.
Angella should be mingling with the guests, she should be paying more attention to talking to the dignitaries and her other allies but she couldn’t. Not when her attention was focused on what should be the most important thing of the night.
Adora was surrounded by people.
She couldn’t walk one or two steps without someone coming up to congratulate her and wish her a happy birthday. Normally that would have been fine but…they weren’t wishing Adora a happy birthday were they?
“Happy birthday She-Ra.”
“May you have many more days She-Ra. Happy Birthday.”
“May you live long and have many other days of birth She-Ra!”
She-Ra, She-Ra, She-Ra, She-Ra. That’s all anyone was saying all throughout the day, aside from the other princesses everyone referred to Adora as her title and not…well, Adora!
It was admittedly grating to her nerves, this was supposed to be about celebrating a young girl who chose to break free from the only home she knew. They were not supposed to use this day to celebrate a legend come to life and establish political relationships.
Angella watched Adora like a hawk, whether the girl knew it or not she was letting people lead her around. Shaking hands and accepting hugs that she was very clearly against, she didn’t know these people and more importantly she didn’t want them here.
She didn’t want this at all.
But she bottled her emotions and simply went with the flow, plastering on a grin Angella could recognize as fake as she talked and played the political game.
“Your majesty I must say it is quite impressive how you’ve started to push back the Horde this past year.”
Then there was her reaction to that word. Happy Birthday, Everytime someone said that to her the blonde seemed to wilt more and more. Even now she saw her shoulders drop as another Plumerian walked off. It was brief as Glimmer came over to drag her to a table with the others, but it was there.
Adora didn’t want to be here. She had tried to tell Glimmer that this wasn’t what she wanted, that she wanted a small gathering, but the girl had just barreled on anyway. Even Bow had latched onto Adoras mood but by the time he did it was much too late.
“Your recent victory in working with the Star Kingdom was a stroke of genius, She-Ra continues to be a boon for the Rebellion.”
“Adora.” Angella said absentmindedly, not even sparing the person she was talking to the dignity of eye contact. “Adora has been a great boon to us, yes. Her battle strategies have managed to pull off many victories in our favor.”
Angella felt her eyes roll at the woman’s cough. “Yes, well I would like to talk about the future of Sh—of Adora.”
Of course she did, everyone she’d met tonight wanted to offer something to get She-Ra to relocate or focus her efforts. Wanted to take her away from Brightmoon and maybe Angella would consider it if she was a younger ruler.
But she wasn’t younger, she wasn’t naive enough to think that these people wanted Adora for anything other than a political sword. Angella would sooner die than use her as a bargaining chip and that went for her Glimmer as well.
So imagine Angellas shock at the words spoken next.
“If possible as your ward I wonder if it would be appropriate to set up a marriage between her and one of my children.”
Angella’s attention was suddenly fully focused on the woman in front of her, her eyes blown wide as she was caught off guard.
 “Excuse me?”
“With all due respect your majesty with the Princess Alliance in full swing I believe it is time to put forth these types of talks.” The woman, Angella recalled as she spoke, was the queen of the Star Kingdom. Ignorant to her rudeness, the aforementioned Star Queen crossed her arms as she spoke, confident in her words. “Strengthening that alliance is all the more prudent now, after all it is how you got Mystacor to send people supplies and join Brightmoon.”
Angella felt her wings ruffle before she schooled her features. “I’m afraid Adora has more pressing concerns than marriage Queen Aurelia.”
The woman gave her a nod but did not move away nor change the subject. “I’m sure she does, which is why it is fortunate that these matters are for us to discuss. As much as I wish it weren’t true, my children are both princesses and soldiers. They will continue to fight but they know what is expected of them and since you refuse to allow your daughter to take part in these talks, I believe this would be the best option.”
The best option was it? Was it truly? Was saving their lives not enough? Turning the tides of this accursed war wasn’t enough?
Angella refused to use her daughter as a bargaining chip, both because Glimmer would most likely refuse in the most vehement way possible but more so because she loved her daughter. She loved her and despite her role she wanted Glimmer to have as much childhood freedom as Angella could allow. So yes, she supposed from an outside standpoint Adora would be the better option.
From an outsider’s point of view. Not Angellas.
They weren’t the ones here in this castle, watching Adora go through her trials on and off the battlefield. They didn’t see her willingly sleeping on a hard bed. Didn’t see how she seemed to bend the knee whenever others got excited to do something with or without her permission.
They didn’t see how she would light up when given a task or order be it one for war or as simple as helping with library books.
Angella knew that if she asked her too Adora would go forward with this political arrangement. It would be the easiest thing to simply walk over and ask her to bear the burden.
So really, it was a simple decision for her.
“If you’ll excuse me Queen Aurelia.” Angella said, backing up slightly and placing her drink on a passing tray. “But I believe that I have other business to attend to.”
She ignored her fellow queen’s call for her name as she made her way over to Adora, she was being crowded again. This time not just by her friends but by the very princesses she had just been attempted to be sold too. Aurelia was right, they did know their duties and maybe in another time Angella would respect that.
But despite that blush on her face Angella could see the signs again, the clenching of her hands. Drawn in shoulders that shook from being touched, a stiff posture that her nervous tone of voice drew attention from and the creasing of a brow.
Uncomfortable didn’t even begin to describe the state Adora was in and from the teasing looks she was getting from her friends they weren’t going to be of much help.
“Excuse me ladies.”
“Oh mom! Come and meet—”
“I know who they are Glimmer.” Her frosty tone cut through the mirth of the table. Eyes drawn to her as she sent a glare that made the Star Sister freeze in place. “Adora. If you would be so kind as to join me for a few minutes, I’d like to have a conversation with you.”
Her tone left no room for any argument and even the mentally challenged could see that, Adora quickly excused herself and followed Angella as she walked away.
Angella could feel Adora’s eyes on her as they walked through the hall, she didn’t allow her to stop and receive thanks for people that wanted to wish her a happy Birthday. Hell, she didn’t even stop for the people who tried to walk up to greet her. She met each and everyone of them with a flap of her wings, a universal signal to either shut up or back away.
She may not be on the front lines anymore, but her reputation still preceded her.
“Um, your majesty?’ Adora asked once they’d gotten through the crowd and exited the banquet hall.  It was just her and an upset queen now, Angella couldn’t blame her for being nervous. “We’re going pretty far away from the others? Is this important? Did something happen?”
“Yes, something I feel I should have stopped long before today.”
“Ma’am?”
“Adora…I’m sorry.”
Adoras eyes blew open at the sudden apology, Angella would have found her subsequent floundering amusing if it were any other situation.
“Adora, please.” Angella sighed, putting up a hand to stop the girl’s ramblings. “The fault isn’t yours. It’s mine. Mine and Glimmer’s and everyone else but yours.”
Adora frowned, her hand going to grip her arm as she looked up at the queen. It was as if those words didn’t make sense to the poor girl.
“I—I don’t understand…”
“You were uncomfortable back there.” Angella said. “You were surrounded by people singing your praises, congratulating She-Ra on her accomplishments and wishing you a good day….and you were uncomfortable. You didn’t want to be there.”
She moved over to the girl then, kneeling down to get on eye level and trying to give a gentle smile to the shocked blonde. Angella could tell she wasn’t expecting anyone to notice her mood, Angella took some sad pride that in the past few days she’s been able to decipher a part of the mystery that was Adora.
“I—it’s fine.” Adora eventually said. “Glimmer and the others worked really hard to put this together. Everyone showed up and—”
“This isn’t about them Adora, this is about you.” Angella cut her off before she could continue. “This day isn’t supposed to be about them, it’s not supposed to be about She-Ra. It’s supposed to be about you, Adora. Just you, and it’s been turned into something that seems to be the antithesis of that.”
Angella shook her head. “My daughter means well, she loves you. But her nature makes her blind to what other people want, to their own opinions. You didn’t want a big party Adora, you wanted a small gathering didn’t you?”
Adora stayed silent, but after a moment nodded in agreement. Angella felt relief rush through her, she was worried that she’d simply try to dash the concerns away again. But admission was a step in the right direction even if it was a small one.
“You’re a good person Adora. Not just a soldier, not just a hero but a person. This is supposed to be a safe place for you, a place where you are supposed to be a home for you…but it hasn’t felt that way has it? Not completely.”
Adora wilted, a strangled sound coming from her throat as she took a step back. “I—I’m sorry. It’s just---I know that we’re the good guys and fighting the Horde is the right thing to do but---”
“But it’s still your home, isn’t it?” Angella finished for her.
“I—I’m sorry….”
“It’s not something to be ashamed of Adora.”
Adora looked at her in shock, her hands quickly going up to rub at her eyes as she felt them beginning to water. “But—they’ve taken so much from everyone, from you! The Horde!”
“Is not you.” Angella stated firmly. “You aren’t responsible for their actions, especially actions that happened before you were even born.”
Adora looked down, she didn’t answer but Angella could tell she didn’t believe a word of what Angella had said. It was something that Angella was realizing was par for the course, how many times had Adora put herself in the front? Allowed herself to take hits? Take or force the blame onto herself?
How bad was it while she was in the Horde? How worse has it gotten since she became She-Ra?
This wasn’t something that could be fixed in one conversation and it certainly wasn’t one to be had today. Adora was already pressured enough as is.
“Adora, if you’re comfortable…I’d like to know more about what you did before. You had friends in the Horde, yes?” Angella questioned. “I know about Catra, but you mentioned someone else. Lonnie, I believe their name was?”
Adora let out a sniffle, she looked at Angella and saw something she’d rarely been shown by the adults in her life.
Veritable kindness.
No plans to use her words against her, no secret test to decipher in their eyes. She didn’t get a sense of impending failure that was always her fault. Just---just kindness, a genuine interest in what she had to say.
It was…it was a weird feeling…but she found that she didn’t mind it.
“Lonnie was---she was part of my squad. Like Catra, we grew up together in the Horde and—Lonnie and I got along great.”
“Oh?”
“Yeah,” Adora smiled. “Catra was my best friend but if I didn’t meet her I—I think Lonnie would have taken that spot. She was just as competitive as me and Catra. Whenever we were training she was always right behind me, trying to get the others to follow my lead and push through training. We got along almost as well as me and Catra.”
“She sounds strong.”
Adora nodded. “She was, she and Catra fought all the time. Then there was Rogelio, he was a Lizardman and we couldn’t always understand him but---he was nice. Calm, in a lot of ways he was like Bow. Always trying to get Catra and Lonnie to calm down whenever it got too heated.”
Adora chuckled. “Then there was Kyle. He---he doesn’t belong in the Horde.”
Angella blinked, surprise on her face at the accusation. “Oh? How so?”
“He just---he was the weakest of the cadets our age. I used to think he was a liability but looking back—I just think he was uncomfortable fighting. He tried though, everyday he tried to keep up with us to not drag us down. He failed…but I think I should have been less harsh on him.” Adora said, hanging her head a bit and biting her lip. “I wish I did a lot of things better before I left, I—I met them when we went to go save Glimmer…we fought and I basically told them they weren’t my friends.”
“Adora?”
“I just—I was so focused on saving Glimmer and getting everybody home! I wasn’t thinking about what I was saying and—I can’t believe I said that to them!”
The girl was shaking now, tears quickly welling up and falling as she clenched her fists. Angella could see the mask come apart as Adora struggled to talk.
“They’re my friends! The only ones I had! In the Horde it was just us! Me and Catra and Lonnie and Rogelio and Kyle! We were supposed to look out for each other and I left them and—and--!”
Angella wrapped her up in a hug, her arms and wings folding around Adora as she shushed her and rubbed her back.
“It’s okay Adora.” She whispered. “It’s okay.”
“Whenever it was my birthday they all—they all gathered all the ration bars they could. They put it together to make—I guess you guys would call it a cake? Every time we’d just get close and celebrate, we didn’t need any big parties or anything just us…just us and I---I know everyone means well but—”
“This wasn’t what you wanted—you wanted something small. Something to remind you of them.”
Adora didn’t say a word but nodded, mumbling out an apology as that Angella shook her head at.
“It’s not something to be ashamed of Adora.” Angella said, pulling back and placing a gentle hand on her cheek. “It’s not something you should have to hold in or be disappointed by. You---you have a will of your own, one that should be listened to especially on a day like today. There’s nothing to be sorry about.”
They sat there for who knows how long, the Queen of Brightmoon comforting the child soldier as she let the emotions that had been up for the past few days loose. Angella didn’t know how long she stayed with Adora that night but when the girl had managed to somewhat calm down she could hear Glimmer calling her name.
“Do you want to go back?” She asked.
Adora shook her head.
“Then tell me, what do you want to do Adora?”
“…When it was nighttime, me and Catra snuck out to look at the stars.”
Well, then look at the stars they shall. Together, they ignored the calls for Adora to return to her party and made the trek to the higher portions of the castle. Even then as they walked Adora could tell they would be going higher than that, to the highest peak of Brightmoon Castle.
To Brightmoons Runestone.
Angella guided Adora to the edge where they both sat, their gazes locked onto the twinkling stars in a silence that Angella found to be comforting. She looked down when she felt Adora lean into her, smiling as she saw the tension slowly leave her body. As her breathing became steady and her eyes shone with something other than forced happiness for the past two weeks.
“Glimmer is going to be upset.” Adora hums, small and worried.
“Well, then it’s a good thing this isn’t about her then isn’t it?” Angellas amusement was infectious and Adora couldn’t stop herself from laughing at such a childish response from someone so regal.
Angella hugged her closer. “Happy Birthday Adora.”
“…Thank you Angella.”

Shorter Reply Arek rolled his eyes. "Alright then I see you're feisty." he told him and crossed his arms over his chest. "Not scary though. Sorry to disappoint you. I live with pirates. Not much scares me anymore." He couldn't help the small chuckle that escaped his lips. "Look it’s not my choice what they do with you. I'm just here to feed you and make sure you don't die. if you prefer death - I suppose I can have that arranged." He wasn't putting up with the attitude. He didn't have time or patience for it. "And I don't think any of us are too worried about your guards. But I suppose we'll keep that in mind - your majesty." He smirked a little figuring he must be some kind of royalty if he had guards. Normal people didn't have guards so he figured rules applied to mermaids to right? "If you don't want me to bandage your wounds that is also on you. But they aren't going to heal properly if you don't." He grabbed a glass of water and passed it carefully through the bars. "But if you're thirsty here is this. I'll see to some fish being caught for our highness." Longer Reply He rolled his eyes a little at Bakugou's amusement at his phrase. He knew that the other would take care of him. That was what was important to him. Ei wouldn't be left in the cold or hungry. And he could be a real pro. He already had a little bit of a decent following. People thought he was hot But this was his chance to really try to grow his numbers. To grow Dynamight's numbers. "Yeah I mean that makes sense man. It's been a long year too. But it's a good time now. And like I said I've been kind of thinking of leaving anyway. It was coming up time for Fat to resign me or let me go so it's really a sign from the universe. Plus why wouldn't I want to spend more time with you. And pretty much all my friends live in Tokyo. it's been rough being out here." He had friends here sure, but he did get lonely sometimes. Kirishima honestly wasn't shocked by the others response. It was exactly what he expected from the blonde. "You're predictable you know." He teased and couldn't help but smirk at him. "But I can definitely help you find someone to run the behind the scenes stuff if you haven't already. You know I am a great judge of character." There was no way he could do everything himself. Even if he wanted to. And he hoped that he would let him help. Even just a little bit. Everything was going to work out perfectly. He was excited to start apartment hunting already. "I have next weekend off, I can head up there and look at a few places. If you want to hang out while I'm in town." He didn't know if he'd be busy but he really hoped that Kats would make time for him. Even if it was just grabbing a couple drinks. He knew he could rope the other of their old crew in for drinks as well, but he wanted some alone time with Bakugou. He loved moments like these. He watched as he grabbed a beer and rolled his eyes. "Look, it's not a well stocked fridge if there isn't beer." He commented and gave him a grin. He took it and cracked his open as well, before returning to his food. His mind was all over the place right now so he had to really focus it in to think about what Bakugou was saying. "Damn I can't wait to see it honestly. You can show me next weekend if you have time. Or whenever honestly. Hell take me on a phone tour." Kirishima beamed a little and couldn't help but notice how proud the other seemed. It made his heart flutter even more. "Did you paint the whole damn place ugly ass orange and military green?" He asked smirking a little. Sure Red wasn't the best color in the world but it certainly beat Bakugou's color pallet.

Rings
This is my personal bullshit idea with Loen and Sage, and this is my page so that’s what you get :P.
Loen x Sage
It’s just fluff and BS.
The door of the blacksmith shop opened, the bell above the door jingling cheerfully.
"Be right with you!"
Tulsi leaned over to grab a cloth off the ground when she heard familiar footsteps.
"Sage? Since when do you visit twice in a month?"
Sage flushed red and he rubbed the back of his head.
"Yeah....sorry.....I have a favor to ask."
Since they defeated the Lord of Shadows and Porrima was almost back to normal Sage had, well not exactly become a model brother, but he tried to keep Tulsi in the loop and see her a bit more often.
He seemed nervous and Tulsi noticed he was alone.
"Where is Loen?"
He looked over his shoulder "Oh yeah..she's at the clinic with Anisa...."
Loen had been working with Anisa since the Lord of Shadows was defeated to help the people of Porrima. Loen on earth had been a barista, but she's always wanted to help people. When Anisa mentioned the Order was looking for assistants at the clinic, Loen had jumped at the chance.
"I can barely catch her without a book on herbal medicines and healing spells lately...but..."
He chuckled to himself "She's really happy..helping people...."
Sage suddenly straightened blushing.
Tulsi grinned "You said you needed my help?"
Sage nodded again and for once he struggled with his words.
Sensing his nervous energy, Tulsi turned the sign on her shop to 'Closed'.
"I got time..spit it out."
It took a few minutes but when his voice came out it was barely a whisper.
"Sorry I didn't catch that? For once in your life you're quiet..what's got you running scared?"
"I'm not scared!" Sage didn't mean to snap but he shook his head. "Sorry.....what I'm trying to ask...what do you know about jewelry? Specifically....rings...."
Tulsi couldn't help the surprised look on her face "You turning into a ring guy?"
After a few moments Sage handed her a crumpled sheet of paper. Covered in various notes
Silver over gold, pink, purple, sparkles, delicate.
"Sage...what is this...?"
She wanted to tease him, but his earnest look told her to hold off.
"It's for her...."
"Why a ring?"
"I guess it's an Earth thing...when you're committed and want to spend your life with someone you give them a ring..."
Tulsi processes the words he said before her eyes widened "Wait Sage....are you...?"
He pouted, crossing his arms, blushing.
"Shut up"
Tulsi grinned "I'll be honest, I don't know much about jewelry..but I can try."
Sage had insisted he make it himself so she was getting him used to heating the metal and shaping it.
He cursed, sweat pouring in his eyes "This seemed like a better idea in my head..also this is ugly"
Tulsi slapped his back laughing "Well I'm always here, you can work whenever. Also it's your first attempt, keep working it."
Suddenly there was a voice at the shop
"Tulsi? You home?"
Sage ducked behind an anvil.
Tulsi approached the door "Hey what's up."
Loen stood in front of her smiling widely "Hey....how are you?"
"I'm okay...what brings you here?"
Loen's face fell slightly "I was looking for Sage, someone at clinic mentioned seeing him heading to this part of town and you're the only one he knows in this part...I think."
She seemed nervous and Tulsi decided to push gently "Everything okay?"
"Oh yeah I just feel bad...I've been so busy ...he seems distracted and I'm sure it's my fault...."
She paused before meeting Tulsi's gaze, smiling again "Just...if you see him let him know I was looking."
Tulsi nodded "Course, but he's like that sometimes, wouldn't put too much stock in him being distracted."
Loen nodded before waving goodbye and walking down the path towards the main corridor of Porrima.
Sage flopped over "Am I that bad at keeping secrets?"
Tulsi shrugged, kicking his boot "Probably but if you hurry you'll catch her before she gets too far..."
Sage shot up, leaping over the anvil
"Sorry! I'll help clean up next time."
The door slammed behind him and Tulsi laughed, looking over her shoulder at the mess.
"Ugh..."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sage sprinted down the small alley way as he made his way back to port.
He saw her then, standing at a street cake stall. She rolled a small ball of energy in her palms while she waited.
Sage looked down at his sweaty dirty clothes but figured he could come up with an excuse.
"Aren't you a sight for sore eyes."
Loen grinned looking over her shoulder.
"Hey.....yeesh what happened to you?"
Sage shrugged "I was causing problems....on purpose like I usually do."
Loen laughed, grabbing the collar of his jacket to pull him closer "You do have a way of causing problems."
Sage leaned in closer, pressing a kiss to her forehead.
Loen smiled up at him and her earlier worries dissolved.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
They walked back to Fathom, sharing street cakes (well more like she feeds him since his hands are a grubby mess)
"I should look like this more often, I get food fed to me by a beautiful woman."
Loen laughed "Well you don't get to sleep in my bed until you clean up so make your choice."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Several months passed before Sage had finally felt he was ready. He devoted hours to making it.
That was a lie. Nerves exploded through his body like his corruption used too.
"What if she hates this?"
He'd crafted a simple ring. The band was slightly irregular and Tulsi had traded some tools to a miner who agreed Sage could take 2 stones he'd found. One was pink, the other red. It was simple and a little rough but Sage felt like it was his best work.
Tulsi shook out the lapel of his jacket, patting his cheek aggressively.
"You worry too much...now when you open your mouth try not to put your foot in it."
Sage sighed "Yeah yeah....."
Tulsi pulled a lint ball off his clothes before she stood back, grabbing his arm and dragging him to the door.
"Yeah you're good. Now go out there and let her make an honest man out of you."
The door to her shop slammed behind him and Sage nervously touched the pouch in his pocket.
He'd never made something for someone, let alone something that he knew carried so much weight for her.
He walked toward the port, children screamed as they ran past, two old foagies argued over a game of checkers.
He looked up, watching the seabirds glide above the city. Salty sea air breezed by as Sage found himself day dreaming, of when she stumbled into his life. He hadn't realized how far he walked until he spotted her, backlit by a setting sun and he swallowed hard as she waved at him.
"Here goes nothing...."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Dinner was shockingly unremarkable.
They went to his favorite dive bar, cuddling in a darkened corner as other patrons played cards, started fights and badly danced to the band in the corner.
They left slightly buzzed and giggling, walking to the beach arm in arm. Loen had been talking animatedly about the clinic and while Sage had no idea what any of it meant, but she was happy...which made him happy.
The distant sounds of the bar were replaced by waves and Loen excitedly removed her boots, standing ankle deep in the dark water.
She reached out her hand to him and he obliged, finding a small measure of strength within him, though he felt like fighting corrupted may have been easier.
"You are...weird....in such a....."
He paused then, suddenly shy, how could he do this, did he really think she...?
While lost in thought, Loen tilted his chin down.
"Hey.... we're having fun, you look so serious...."
Sage swallowed hard, before reaching up to stroke her cheek "What if I told you I was thinking about somehing rediculous."
"You mean like that time you tried to get me to chug 6 of those terrible pickle beers you like?"
Sage laughed, "No I guess not but...."
He reached into his pocket, squeezing the pouch as he pulled it out. The pouch caught his pocket and dropped into the dark water.
"Oh shit!"
He dropped to his knees, scrambling to find it.
"Sage...?"
He paused when he looked over, she was holding the pouch.
"Sage..is this what you're looking for?"
"Loen.....I...wait..."
Sage gently took the pouch dumping the ring into his hand.
"I don't really know how this goes....but I love you and I want you to know how much I want to spend forever with you...*
Loen dropped to her knees in the surf "Wait Sage....are you...asking me to marry you?"
His ear turned down, was she saying no?
"Sage? You know you don't have to ask me...Im perfectly fine as we are. Though....I do love the gesture and a symbol of your commitment...."
Sage grinned stupidly "You already know I'm a desperate fool for you....I'll follow you into hell...again...will you say yes to the symbol....since I know you like that kind of junk."
Loen laughed, holding his head in her hands "Sage.....of course.....I love you....my desperate fool...."
She held out her left hand, whispering "You're supposed to put it on my finger...this one..."
Sage slid it on, suprised it fit.
"Where did you get this?*
She smiled from him to her finger and Sage grinned "I made it..."
Loen's face lit up "wait really?!"
"Yeah actually....I've been with Tulsi making it, do you like it?"
Loen pressed her lips to his, before leaning her forehead to his when she pulled away.
"You're wonderful......
Sage nodded, lacing his fingers with hers, kissing her knuckles as another wave greeted them, he'd forgotten they were kneeling in ankle deep water.
"While I realize Earth doesn't have a lot of sexy dangerous mercenaries....it was still your home....and you chose to stay and...."
Loen smiled softly "I chose you Sage, I always will."
A particularly large wave decided to rush them, soaking them, making Loen squeal and cling to him.
"Shit that's cold!"
Sage pulled her closer, laughing "Let's go home.....I could probably make you scream more later.
He smirked at her and she laughed, coming up to standing, grabbing his hands to hoist him up. "You are a scoundrel and a debaucherous man."
Sage laughed picking her up "Call me more dirty names, but maybe use smaller words."
Loen kissed him again "Maybe...if you're lucky."

After the snap
Summary: Wanda was snapped away. You, on the other hand, remained and had moved on. You moved out of the country, started a new job, and had even gone on a few dates. Then everyone came back and suddenly a familiar witch was knocking on your workplace door.
Pairings: Top!Wanda x Reader
Warnings: dark!wanda, oral (r receiving), strap, public sex, posessive wanda, mummy kink
You’d long put away the shield (so to speak) and were at a point that going back to everyone just seemed so jarring. Maybe you didn’t want to believe it wasn’t true. After five years of grieving, of building a new life, and suddenly everyone’s just….back.
Wanda was back.
You knew it was wrong to have not contacted her. For her, it must seem like yesterday that you were whispering your plans about eloping, but that was five years ago. You moved on. Found someone else. She was nice, sweet, normal. She worked as a custom officer but she could spend hours and hours talking about all these topics that fascinated you.
She also was very predictable and normal.
Admittedly, your relationship hadn’t quite been defined. You suspected she was seeing other people, keeping her options open, and you weren’t sure how long you two were going to last but you were enjoying the time that you had together.
On top of that, you had a job at a bookstore that paid your rent. Sure, it wasn’t as flashy as it was back then but you liked being surrounded by all the books, some new and some falling apart. You spent a lot of pride restoring the latter in the back. You never had much of a chance to read before everything happened, your life was mostly spent trying to make sure everyone didn’t die.
Your abilities were healing based and that was more useful than you had initially thought when you first met them all. In fact, you thought you were awfully inadequate compared to people like Steve Rogers, Thor and Wanda Maximoff. But your time was kept filled to the brim.
Your only time to relax was your time with Wanda.
It had started off innocent enough. She used to stay with you after you finished up in the medic bay. She’d have dinner with you. Admittedly, you were pretty sure she didn’t have many other friends in the complex. Then it grew until she was fucking you every chance she could get. How else would either of you relax?
But that was a long time ago. You were done with that life. You weren’t the same person anymore. You ran and started a new life and not even the idea of Wanda could make you go back and maybe she was just that–an idea.
You were confident none of them would find you. Natasha couldn’t. You knew she had been trying to track you down like she had for Clint but no one came knocking on your door. So if they couldn’t, you were pretty sure she wouldn’t be able to find you either.
You’d just closed shop, the sunset streaming through the shutters covering the windows, and were taking stock. It had been a quiet day, but it was always quiet on a Tuesday so you had easily reached the predicted quota. The one downside was your boss, but he was only around once a week.
He was the kid of some millionaire who was trying to be hip and all that. So he opened some urban bookstore but he was too busy partying to actually stay on top of the business. Which is fine-you liked that arrangement. You’ll keep the shop running and he’ll never be up in your business. It worked without a bump in the road.
You were nearly done for the day, all you had to do after was–
The bell attached to the door trinkled. Someone had walked in. It was nearly half past, well past closing, so surely your boss would understand if you told whoever it is to leave. You were behind the shelves, you couldn’t see who had walked in. They weren’t making a lot of noise. Some people just had that soft touch, usually women.
Coming out to the front, your mouth already opening to ask them to leave, your words died in your throat.
Wanda.
Your eyes were frozen on her face, her eyes, those big doe eyes that always drew you in. She was smiling, an expression full of relief, and she was taking you in, grazing your body, before she moved forward to close the distance.
You stepped back.
Frozen with the air changing. Heavier, like you could feel the gravity pulling you down. Her light, happy, expression melted off and confusion replaced it.
“Wanda,” you said, wanting to cut her off, you couldn’t do it. You couldn’t listen to her. She’d want you to come back. Five years for you, a few days for her. “You shouldn’t be here.”
You may as well have slapped her.
“Shouldn’t be here?” Wanda repeated and you closed your eyes. For the first time in years, you heard her voice. That voice that whispered to you in your dreams. A voice you thought you could hear every time you were alone. “I think I’m exactly where I need to be.”
When you opened your eyes again, you jumped, she was right there. You didn’t even hear her footsteps. “Wan–” you began but then her lips were on yours, her tongue sliding into your open mouth and you grunted in shock. You didn’t kiss back but you didn’t push her off either. You froze. You let her tongue be pushed down your throat as her hands slid onto your cheeks.
Her thumbs beginning to rub small circles into your skin pushed you back into action, your hands going to hips to shove her off you hard enough that she stumbled back a few steps.
“Wanda, I can’t,” you hissed out. “It’s been five years. I…”
“Why aren’t you happy then?” Wanda asked, bewilderment splashed across her face and almost instantly did guilt wash through you. Like you were betraying her somehow. “I was gone for five years, and now I’m back. Why didn’t you come back? Surely, you didn’t move on that easily?”
With that, the guilt was gone.
“Easily?” You hissed out, your hands balling into fists, “don’t come into my shop and–”
You stopped. It was no use getting angry. Your sentences always fumbled into one elongated word that no one could ever understand. “You have no idea what the five years have been like,” you snapped and she tilted her head, just slightly, but enough that a cold chill went down your spine. “You shouldn’t have looked for me. I’m not interested in going back to the avengers. I moved on.”
With that, you turned on your heel to go behind the desk, tapping away at the register. Maybe if you ignored her, she’d get the hint and leave.
“So you developed an attitude?” Wanda remarked and slid her hands into the woollen cardigan that...you knitted her. You frowned when you made the connection. You spent hours labouring away at it. It wasn’t that good, the colours were awful, but she rarely took it off. “Seems we have to start at square one again.”
You frowned. You seem to be doing that a lot. You could already see the wrinkles beginning to form on your forehead. Why wasn’t she listening to you? “I’m seeing someone,” you blurted out as the cash register popped open loudly and Wanda’s face went blank as she registered what you just said. “A girl. She’s nice.”
You weren’t sure if you just signed this girl’s death certificate.
You kept eye contact with the Sokovian and even when her face morphed into a cold fury you hadn’t seen since the civil war. Her expression was tight and it almost looked like she was trying to hold herself back.
“I see.”
“I’m sorry,” you whispered after a moment, “I...I know this can’t be easy for you either. I know it must seem like last week that...well. You know. I just...that life is over, for me at least. I hope you can understand.”
Wanda was silent. She was being too silent. She didn’t say anything, she stood there watching you, and you were too nervous to say anything else or make the next move. Maybe, hopefully, Wanda wouldn’t even say anything else, just walk out. Resent you for the rest of her life. It was better that way.
Instead she walked around the register and your heart dropped to your stomach.
“Wanda-”
“Shut up,” she hissed, her hand whipping up to grab your jaw. Your hands shot up to her wrists and she dragged you forward, closer to her face. “Do you really think I’d let you give up on us this easily? That I’d let you whore yourself out to some girl off the street?”
You didn’t say anything but your glare said enough.
“I trained you so well. I spent years breaking you in, years loving you, and you treat me like this? Like I’m just some common bitch you can throw onto the street?” Wanda’s tone didn’t match her words. Her tone was soft, almost a coo, sounding more disappointed than angry. You almost wished she was more angry than disappointed.
Her lips were on yours again and her hand moved to the back of your head, her teeth biting down into your lips and you groaned at the sharp pain, giving her entrance back into your mouth.
A hand went down between your legs, rubbing, and you instinctively opened your legs. Your body remembered her. Remembered her scent. Everything.
Wanda hummed in approval and soon you were being pushed onto the counter. She broke the kiss, pulling back to look down at you, her hands beginning to rub the inside of your thighs. “Just one night,” she whispered, her expression already having smoothed out, as if that kiss, your touch, was all she needed. “One night with me and if you still want me to leave by the end of the night...well, I’ll leave you alone. Forever. Even if you change your mind. Even if you come crawling back, begging.”
You doubted her. Something in the back of your mind didn’t believe her. On anything. You were pretty sure she wanted you to beg. Your hands were shaking and you gulped. Everything about this reminded you of when you were last happy. Like you were back in the avengers tower where nothing was going wrong.
Her lips were on yours again and her hands soon began to pull at your skirt, ripping them off you with ease, to find nothing but your bare cunt for anyone to see. You jerked up when her hand slammed against it, slapping it. Once, twice, three times, four. “You dirty little whore,” she whispered, “you let anyone and everyone see this, didn’t you?” She slid a finger into your folds and your bottom lip trembled.
“Wanda…” you whispered, feeling your own walls beginning to crumble. Maybe one night wasn’t so bad. One night. One indulgence.
“It’s mine tonight,” Wanda confirmed before suddenly her hands were on your waist and flipped you around and your stomach slapped onto the desk, taking away your breath, leaving you gasping. “You said I didn’t know what happened. In the past five years. You’re right, I don’t, but you’re going to tell me. Tell me everything I missed. If you leave anything out, and I know when you do sweetheart, I’ll stop. Understand me?”
“Yes,” you breathed out as you felt her mouth in between your legs, her tongue lapping at your clit and your back arched as you tried to push more of yourself into her. Soon, it started spilling out. What you did the first few months, how you struggled to get out of bed, how you travelled the world. Therapy. Everything. Her tongue didn’t stop, in fact the more you spilt, her tongue sped up, making you wetter and wetter by the second. “I couldn’t get you out of my head,” you mumbled by the end of it, “I found her. She was everything you weren’t. Mundane. Boring.”
Your stomach was tightening, that tempting release building and building, so expertly brought on by the way Wanda devoured you, the way she breathed onto your throbbing clit, the way her tongue teased your gaping entrance. When you stopped, she pulled away and you bit down onto your bottom lip to stop yourself from cursing.
“Such a good little whore for me,” Wanda purred, her hand falling in between your slit to rub your clit and the moan that left your mouth sacrificed any and all self respect that you might have been clinging onto. “This is where you belong isn’t it? Bent over for mummy. I treat you so well, don’t I?”
Two fingers dipped into your already gaping entrance pushing them in and out. “I think you deserve a little reward,” Wanda hummed out, “for being so honest with mummy.”
You didn’t have much long to prepare before you felt a strap push into your entrance and you gasped in a sharp breath, your eyes bulging and your body pressed forward. Wanda didn’t push into you completely, only pushed the tip in and out, focussing on the one area.
In truth, that was worse than if she shoved into you completely. You were forced to focus on that one area, not get that relief if she were to push in deeper, and it was as if she was grabbing at every inch of your mind, forcing you to feel nothing but that tip dipping in and out of your body.
“Tell me…” she whispered, her hands coming onto your waist to grip them, nails digging into your skin, “tell me where you belong, baby girl. Who you belong to. Look at you, five years without me and you still get so wet for me. I go in so easily. Don’t worry, baby, I’m not going to leave you again.”
“W-w-” you choked out and you took in a breath, trying to contain the moans slipping out of your mouth, “you said one–”
Her hand slammed down onto your bare ass and you jerked forward. Still, she didn’t go deeper, didn’t give you what you wanted. Still, you didn’t verbalise this. Your skin was stinging and your fingers reached up to hang onto the edge of the desk.
“Answer my question, don’t make me treat you like a common whore,” Wanda hissed, pulling out completely just to thrust back in, shoving more of the shaft inside of you, ripping your walls open, but then she pulled back to just the tip again.
Then the doorbell rang again and it was as if someone poured a bucket of ice cold water all over your body. Your vision was already blurring by this point but you could see her outline, the blonde hair, standing at the door.
Wanda slammed into you, bottoming out, and a scream shot out of your lips, whilst her hands were in your hair, pulling your head back until your neck was straining. She could see your face, see every expression you pulled as Wanda began to fuck you without restraint.
“If I were you,” Wanda’s voice broke through your moans and screams, icy cold and calm despite the way she was beginning to thrust inside of you, “I’d leave and never come back. If you knew what was good for you, you’d wipe my girl from everything. Phone, address, memories.”
You couldn’t hear what she said, you could hear her voice, but unlike Wanda, it was all a garbled mess. Even in this state, Wanda’s words were in absolute clarity. You watched her leave. The door clicked shut and you swore you could see red mist at the door, locking it.
Wanda bent over you, pressing down onto your back, lips pressing against your neck, sucking and nipping, her hips still pushing inside of you, pushing you closer and closer to an orgasm that was tightening at the base of your stomach.
Then her movements slowed until she was completely still, her strap still inside of you, your walls wrapped around it, clinging to it.
“Much better, just us,” Wanda whispered as she nipped at your earlobe and you moaned. “You take my cock so well, don’t you? No, I couldn’t dream of letting you go, not when you’re such a good girl for me. I’ll take you with me and I’ll give you the life you want. A normal life, where no one will ever hurt you. You can read all you want. Forget the world outside. Just us two, together.”
“Mummy,” you whispered and you could feel her body vibrate as she hummed in approval. “Mummy, please.”
“Tell me where you belong,” she whispered back as she began to move her hips again.
“With you, mummy, under you. I missed you so much,” you whispered, “I belong to you. I always have.”
“I know, sweetheart, I know you did,” Wanda whispered before she stretched up and her hands went to your elbows, pulling you up from the table before she began to rail you. Sharp thrusts, slamming into you again and again, and tears began to burn the back of your eyes as pleasure began to roll through you. “You're going to cum for me like a good girl. Then you’re going to lie on this table to wait as I go pack your bags. You live above this, don’t you?”
“Y-yes, mummy,” you choked out as your orgasm was already threatening to flow through you. You could feel your own juices dripping down your thighs and you knew that your boss would be walking in to find an absolute mess.
“And then we’ll leave. Together.”
“Together.”
It wasn’t long until you felt like you were choking on your breath, your stomach twisting and churning, your legs trembling, and it was Wanda keeping you up. Otherwise, you would have collapsed onto the table, even the ground.
Soon, you felt it. Felt that blissful euphoria that often put you to sleep wash over you in intense waves that made your toes curl. Wanda was laughing, quietly, as she felt you come undone around her strap. “That’s it, baby girl, let it all go. Good little whore.”
She slid out of you with a pop and you groaned, the disappearing sensation already sorely missed. “Mummy, please, I still need you…” you mumbled, your words drowsy and reality was folding inwards around you as you felt your body hit the table again.
“I’ll be back, in just a moment,” Wanda whispered into your ear before her warmth disappeared and you could hear her moving through the store and up the creaky stairwell. Then your eyes slid open and you took in a deep breath as you began to move. Pushed off the desk, your legs sore and shaky but stable, and you looked for the skirt, long discarded. You knew you only had a small amount of time before she realised or, god forbid, heard you. Pulling the skirt up you grabbed only your wallet, didn’t even dare grab your phone and risk being tracked. You can get a burner if need be. You knew it’d be difficult, if she found you here, then she’d be able to find you wherever you went but...maybe she’ll give up.
You didn’t go through the front door, not with the bell, but there was a small door leading out to the back. Your footsteps were silent as could be, and your heart was beating in your chest. One wrong step and she could hear you. You could hear the banging doors, even her humming, but she didn’t stop.
Soon, you were in the back alley, with nothing but overflowing bins and a motorbike there. Yours. The only thing you kept from Stark. Faster than anything you could buy in a store. You hated riding with a skirt, let alone with these shoes, but what choice did you have?
You only had so much time to run.
