What if Astrid's scar over her eye is from Eadwulf. Either from Trent pitting them against each other or just from getting into a fight of their own volition. What if that's why she didn't get it healed properly. Now she has one from each of them.

Extremely torn whenever canon deals with Caleb’s past relationships because whenever the cast discusses them there’s a weird fixation on Astrid, and then I have to be torn because on one hand it’s “fuck yeah!!! Astrid!!! I love Astrid!!!” But on the other hand it’s “where’s Eadwulf!!! Stop ignoring Eadwulf!!! He’s also important and under-discussed!!!”

I imagine Essek had this moment of recognition with Astrid and Eadwulf while they were all in the Blooming Grove, similar to how Kima was like “sword lesbian recognize sword lesbian” with Yasha. They all looked at each other and went “neutral evil wizard with complicated feelings for Caleb and a weird relationship to their homeland recognize neutral evil wizard with complicated feelings for Caleb and a weird relationship to their homeland,” and they didn’t need to discuss it any further. Their relationship is not affectionate at all, but it is not hostile. It can’t even really be called professional. It’s just there, and it’s a relationship of few words, but enough understanding.

And Astrid. Astrid Beck, my most beloved. Her relationship with Caleb hurts, if she’s being honest. But so does her relationship with Eadwulf, even though it’s a different kind of hurt. She is just full of trauma and I don’t think there is anything in her life that isn’t filtered through it, so everything is just kinda painful.

But I imagine that after taking on the role of Archmage, Astrid feeds Essek just enough intel to steer clear of the Assembly's ire, but they don't talk at all beyond that. So like, they don't really know anything about each other, but they are still offering up a lot of trust. It creates this weird intimacy of knowing someone's greatest secrets (Astrid, about Essek) and having seen them at their lowest point (Essek, about Astrid) and sharing a weakness (both of them, for Caleb). But at the same time, there is a massive divide between them that, for a myriad of reasons, will never ever be bridged. They both know this, so they won't even try.

They do not have a relationship, but there is still so much to it, you feel me?

it’s very important that caleb widogast has two cheeks because it means:

-two tieflings can kiss him at the same time 

-two purple men can kiss him at the same time

-two of his schoolmates can kiss him at the same time 

-a tiefling and a half-orc can kiss him at the same time

-veth can kiss both cheeks twice!!

-yasha can cup caleb’s face in her hands while beau gives him a noogie 

-caduceus can watch his friend’s face warm up after a good cup of tea 

all i’m saying is it’s such a good thing caleb widogast has a kissable/holdable/lovable face!!! he deserves it!!!!!!!!!

I loved the Mighty Nein Reunion, and I didn’t have the time to draw when the episodes were airing, so I figured that my first piece in the new year should be my favorites from that campaign.

Essek: Knitting furiously to distract me from the temptation to do something very ambitious and stupid and wonderful and I wonder what possibilities...? Maybe we can make a time-warp demiplane and finally learn the secrets of the Lux…no no no! Help Caleb. I’m just helping Caleb. But we could probably look into a few things together. That should be fine…right…?

Yussa: Oh, I am 100% making my own time warp demiplane. *is already casting*

Ludinus: Releasing a god-eater that haunts the moon so I can kill all the gods. This will definitely go exactly as planned and not have any massive collateral damage. And if it does kill a bunch of innocent people or ruin the world as we know it it’ll be worth it. Even though I’ve left a long trail of accidental collateral damage over the past century alone, the face-eating red moon leopard will definitely not eat my face because I am a genius. No, I am not being manipulated. That is preposterous. I refer you to my previous statement regarding my genius.

Astrid: Tapping into my inner Laerryn-meets-Portia to learn some great arcane feat for myself and make my mark on history and also situate myself to take over the Assembly if Ludinus ever gets his face eaten off by some metaphorical or literal magical face-eating leopard. Also spying on literally everyone. (But that’s just a Tuesday for me.)

Caleb: Ja, well, I had wanted to study Leylines and perhaps make a new rainbow castle on another plane for my friends, but I guess I’m stopping all these ****ing wizards now.

Allura: I am also stopping the wizards. *sigh* Kima, I’ll be home late…

Planerider Ryn: I did my part. Got turned into a statue. Think I'm gonna vacay in the Astral Sea for a bit.
