Hazbin Hotel Ep 8 Ramble and Theory
⚠️ SPOILERS!! ⚠️
Surprisingly, the show’s first season really got me hooked with its storyline and I can’t wait what’s in store for the upcoming season 2.
I’ve had my suspicions with Alastor since the pilot, and it just keeps growing with every episode. Even then, his real motivations are just hard to really see and it’s what makes his character intriguing. One moment, he’s lurking in the shadows like some sort of villain, and then the next, we see him maaaybe caring for his friends?? If he even considers them that. Idk 🤷
I’ve always thought that maybe he’s sticking around and playing nice to get Charlie’s guard down in the long run. Waiting for her to get desperate so he can strike a deal with her. So he could ask her for any favour in the future. And guess what? That’s what he exactly does in Ep 7.
And if I’m recalling correctly, Alastor helped Charlie with the war, but Charlie is yet to grant her own end of the deal. Alastor STILL is owed a favour from her.
(Where am I going with this theory and analysis? I’m getting there-)
At one point, maybe he did genuinely care for the hotel and the people in it. Regardless what his motives were. He even admits it’s a “surprising thrill” to watch them form connections. But the word choices he uses in this scene are just sooo…weird?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Almost??” “Could get accustomed??”
It sounds like he admits feeling attached to the other characters but at the same time, doesn’t want to commit to it. Does he have far more nefarious intentions in mind for them and that’s why he’s so distant?
Alastor probably noticed this in the ending of Ep 8 too. His altruistic self almost got control of him. He almost risked his life to help his “friends.” And he didn’t like that one bit. Perhaps, he sees this trait as a weakness.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It really sounds like the verse“Great Alastor Altruist died” is equal to him stating that “there’s no more Mr. Nice Guy” from now on. He’s disconnecting and staying firm to whatever his highly vague motives are. And it’s highly likely that whatever’s holding him back from his full power is the deal he made itself. And he’s going to try anything to get out of it. Maybe that’s the reason why he approached Charlie in the first place.
Tumblr media
And I’m going back to Charlie’s deal with him here. The only condition she has is that she won’t harm anyone for him. But knowing Alastor, he’s going to twist the words a bit there. Maybe he won’t harm them physically. But maybe in some other way. Indirectly. One that Charlie won’t see in the long run. Maybe he uses this one favour to help him break free of this deal or loosen it in some way.
And Charlie already has so much trust in him after the battle, she most likely won’t see it coming. It’s perfect.
(Not exactly sure how these soul contracts work buuut, she’s the princess right? Maybe she’s powerful enough to do smth about it? Maybe that’s why Alastor was so interested to gain her trust and potentially free himself?)
…….
But anyway! Onto the second part of my theory!
Alastor’s probably going to optimise his one chance of freedom through Charlie’s owed favour. But I have a feeling he’s not only going to use just Charlie.
Who else is at the hotel that the other main cast members trust? Who he could freely command under his control? To show up at his will? Answer his beck and call? Whose souls that Alastor owns?
Tumblr media
I swear. It is NO ACCIDENT that these two were standing side by side. NEXT TO ALASTOR. In the ending. (Or maybe I’m overanalysing, but whatever. This is MY ramble)
Tumblr media
When Alastor comes back from the “dead”, everyone was happy to see him. Especially Charlie. And surprisingly Vaggie? I guess she’s warming up to him. Idk if that’s good or not.
Everyone except Lucifer and Husk. Lucifer’s still bitter on the whole ‘dad’ thing. But I just really felt sooo bad for Husk here. 😂 My guy had maybe a few happy hours of what he thought was freedom. Then he sees this guy come back and he’s just: “Ahhhh… SHT-!”
Now I’m just saying, I don’t think Alastor can just casually go up to Charlie and just easily demand that favour. Especially now that Lucifer might be staying around(?) Also, Alastor sounds like someone who would strategically play the long run if it means benefits. Albeit, less truly altruistic than before since that approach almost costed him highly.
He’s maybe going to have to pull some strings to really make Charlie feel like she HAS to do him a favour. To better solidify his chances and so she’s less likely to be hesitant/reluctant/suspicious. After all, Alastor is only owed ONE FAVOUR. Maybe he’ll pull some strings to win over Lucifer’s own trust too so he won’t be stopping Charlie? (I’m not sure, these two are not in good terms.)
Tumblr media
(Look me in the eyes and tell me this is the face of someone who’s definitely not going to use this hotel for his own personal gain. Things are going to start getting ugly with Alastor’s new approach. I’m also still like 80% sure these 3 characters are placed together for a reason. It CANNOT be a complete coincidence, right?)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now I’m really curious how Husk and Niffty would react under this sudden new approach. The angst potential here is smelling strong. It’s obvious that they’re starting to get highly attached to the hotel and really consider the others as friends. Something Alastor didn’t allow himself to.
And it’s not like they have a voice in the matter either. No matter what Alastor tells them to do to secretly manipulate things around the place so he’ll appear like he’s “helping out more.”
Who knows really? What kind of errands he’ll force them to do? “Mr. Nice Guy” is really no longer an option here. That guy is dead. Adam killed him.
And all at the same time, Alastor wouldn’t be breaking Charlie’s condition. He’s not making her hurt anyone at all. Just helping a good old pal, who’s done so much for her, to maybe loosen the constraints his deal has. Or whatever else he wants, I don’t fcking know-
(But Srsly though. The angst??? Niffty and Alastor are fond with each other, but Niffty is also starting to like her new friends too. Will that create some sort of rift? Niffty actually being hesitant??
And don’t even get me STARTED on Huskerdust. Like wtf-? Husk has already stepped out of line before and it left him completely shaken. What else could he do? And a heartbroken Angel finding out he’s behind all this when Husk is the first person to truly reach out to him? Husk not being able to meet his gaze out of guilt?? THE FCK-???)
Yeaaaahhh, can’t wait what Season 2 has for us all….
Remember fellas, this is just a theory. A Hazbin theory! :))

things that stood out in hofas, but from a devout elriel:
spoilers ahead!
- azriel never gives up truthteller and begs bryce to give it back… yet he gave it to elain without thinking
- he and nesta are friends, as far as we know he still lives in the house of wind with nesta and cassian
- he is very quick to say he doesnt have a mate or significant other
- his shadows dance at all music
- he loves club music/edm
- azriel seemed to be chuckling more than hes typically describe to do 🤔🤔
- his shadows are just very condensed magic
- AZRIEL PROBABLY HAS DUSK COURT BLOOD, as does rhys and his family (rhys looks like ruhn and az says silene looks exactly like rhys’ sister)
- the prison is gonna be the next important location (three mountains, three brothers, three sisters, three journeys)
- btw where is elain?
- poor nesta, rhys is still mean to her even after she saves his wife and childs life 🙁
- the nesta ember and randall bonus chapter had me angry. the only people on her side are ember and feyre. and the men stand around complaining about their mates. it just felt very misogynistic.
- nesta calls cassian an “alphahole” after bryce says it to hunt
- WHERE IS ELAIN?
- shes mentioned ONCE and it makes nestas flames flare up. i would also argue though that they arent talking about elain because theyre being careful to reveal too much to bryce, especially when seers are so sought after. for example, nyx and feyre and mor barely get spoken about too.
- my best guess is these events are right before or very very early in elains book, so maybe well get to see what its like from the other side.

the nanny diaries ~ jjk
Tumblr media
✨ title: the nanny diaries (drabble series) | the blind date ✨ pairing: jungkook x single mom!reader ✨ word count: 1.5k |✨ rating: pg-13 |✨ genre: fluff ✨ warnings: suggestive language, cursing, alcohol consumption, mentions of sex, spoilers for a Netflix film - 20th Century Girl ✨ summary: your blind date turns out to be completely different from what you expected.
Tumblr media
[ DRABBLES MASTERLIST ] ✨ next - the wish list
Tumblr media
It's been a month since Jungkook became your nanny. To your surprise, he's been nothing but excellent with Ha Joon. You've never seen your little boy so happy in his life.
Your brother Wells applauded you when he learned you hired a male nanny. "Wonder if his willie is big," he teased while washing the potatoes in the sink.
"Oh, quit it, will you? He's my nanny."
"What?" he shrugged. "Who says you can't fuck the hot nanny? People fuck their pool boys all the time."
You glared at your brother, lifting your foot to kick his butt. "Hurry up with the potatoes. The curry is starting to boil."
Was Jungkook good-looking? Why yes, anyone with eyes would undoubtedly agree, but he was your nanny who took care of the most important little person to you. He wasn't someone to sleep with, and you'd cry if you had to find another nanny again.
You shook off your brother's comment. "What's going on with you and Jimin anyway? Thought you guys were going well."
Wells clicked his tongue. "Jimin wants to be friends with bens. Jungkook can join us if he wants," he grinned, "The more, the merrier."
"Wells, keep your willie out of my business and Jungkook's, please." He's been the next best thing to Gracie, so you did not want to ruin your working relationship with him.
"Fine-I can't guarantee he'll keep his off of mine, though."
You turned to your brother, smacking his shoulder. "Stop before Ha Joon hears you."
Wells came over to hang out with his one and only nephew for dinner while you went on a blind date. It's been months since you went on a date but figured it was time to start dating again. Dating was hard because many guys were turned off because you were a single mom. You loved being a mom but knew it would come with its difficulties. Again, you loved Ha Joon, but you had to admit you were lonely and yearned to be intimate with someone.
"Ha Joon-ah!" you yelled before returning to stir the curry before it began to stick to the bottom of the pot. If there was one food item you could perfect, it was Japanese curry, reasonably easy to make, a dish that was hard to mess up. "Dinner's almost ready, baby!"
The shuffling of Ha Joon's little feet could be heard from down the hall. He appeared with his favorite costume of the month - Iron Man. You'd pin it on Jungkook for his influence on costumes. The outfit was far too small for him, the thin polyester halfway up his legs and arms.
"Baby, we need to buy you a new costume soon."
"Mommy," Ha Joon whined. "I still fit this one." He peered his little head up. "What's Uncle Wells doing here? Where's Jungkook?"
"Remember Uncle Wells promised to hang out with you today while mommy goes out. We have to give Jungkook a break, too, right?" You looked down at the cute little face.
"We're gonna have so much fun, right, bud?" Wells turned to him, dropping the cut-up potatoes in the pot.
Ha Joon groaned. "But I want Jungkook."
"Mommy does too--" Wells mumbled under his breath, but you heard him, then gave him a death glare.
"You'll see Jungkook on Monday, okay? Then you two can play to your heart's content."
"I guess," Ha Joon pouted, dragging his feet over to his seat at the dinner table. He plopped his arms on the table and nuzzled his head in between, kicking his feet underneath. You sometimes needed help understanding where he got all the sass - maybe from his Uncle Wells.
Tumblr media
You told Wells that if he needed anything, he could call you or if somehow he couldn't get a hold of you, Jungkook was available but only for emergencies.
The planned date was low-key. You didn't want anything more than to talk and get to know your date.
Double tapping your phone, the time was 7:00 PM. Thirty minutes passed the time the two of you agreed to meet. How long does one wait before it looks sad sitting alone at the bar? Fifteen more minutes wouldn't hurt, you thought to yourself.
Another thirty minutes, and you were sure the bartender felt sad for you because he kept refilling your glass, letting you know it was on the house. Your first date in months, and it was a bust. There were times when being single was more manageable, but there were also times when it wasn't.
No boyfriend. No sex.
You couldn't remember how long it's been since anyone's touched you. It's not like you could bring home a one-night stand or stay over at someone's place. Dating just wasn't in the books for you.
Finally, you called it a night. You were tired of the bartender taking pity on you, and the heels you bought killed your feet.
Tumblr media
"You're back early. Bad date?" Jungkook turned to you, pausing his Netflix movie, and you glanced to see he was watching 20th Century Girl, a film that's also been on your list.
"Jungkook?" You were surprised to see your nanny instead of your brother, and you wondered what excuse Wells gave to leave his nephew in the care of Jungkook.
Honestly, it was embarrassing to come back so early. You wished it was a lousy date, and then it would've meant that you actually went on one. You flashed a thin smile, "My date never showed up."
"I'm so sorry."
You waved him off. "Nah, don't be. I'd rather be at home with my boy than some lame guy who didn't even bother to show," you said, plopping yourself next to Jungkook on the couch.
"Is it good?" you asked, pointing to the screen while massaging your feet.
"Oh yeah, it's cute and romantic. Not sure if it's your thing," Jungkook remarked before standing and grabbing ahold of his jacket. "Well, I guess I should get going."
"You don't want to finish it? How much longer do you have?" you asked, peering up at him. "Oh, but don't stay on my account. You weren't even supposed to be here tonight. Sorry about that."
Jungkook smiled. "I didn't have any plans, so I didn't mind. I love hanging out with Ha Joon."
A 25-year-old good-looking guy with no plans? Who was this man, and what did he do for fun? Supposedly, he liked hanging out with a 4-year-old.
Jungkook sat back down on the couch. "I do kind of want to finish this movie," he grinned.
You'd never seen someone get so excited over a romantic film before. "Catch me up, and then we'll continue."
Tumblr media
"You've got to be kidding me," you gasped when the movie returned to the present time, revealing what happened to the love interest. "He died?"
You're not sure what prompted your tears, but you were such a sap regarding romantic films - Hallmark movies were your guilty pleasure, but you sure as hell wouldn't tell anyone about it. Patting the tears in the corner of your eyes with the back of your hand, you let out a sniffle causing Jungkook to turn in your direction to show you that he was also crying.
The two of you laughed. "Oh god, we're such cry babies," you stated, wiping the snot from your nose.
"I'm not crying. You are," Jungkook teased, removing any trace of tears from his face.
When the film ended, you weren't sure how you felt about it. "The main character was cheated from her first love," you pouted.
Jungkook shrugged. "She was able to experience love differently, even though it may not have been long - it was still love, so I don't think she was cheated."
You huffed. "You're one of those."
He cocked an eyebrow, humming at your comment.
"An optimistic."
"Okay, I may be a bit upset that they weren't able to see each other," he confessed.
"Ha! I knew it!"
A door creaked, and the two of you looked toward the noise, seeing a sleepy Ha Joon stumbling down the hall, dragging his blanket behind him.
"Mommy?"
"Yeah, baby?" you replied, holding your arms out for him and kissing his head.
"You're too loud," Ha Joon yawned, spreading himself across you and Jungkook. "I'm trying to sleep."
Jungkook gently rubbed Ha Joon's feet, then turned into tickle scratches - which was one of his favorite things he'd always ask you to do. You guessed he was now making Jungkook do it as well.
"Sorry, baby. We'll be quieter, 'kay?"
Ha Joon hummed, eyes closed again, and instantly knocked out within five seconds. You always wondered how he did that and what his secret was.
Turning to Jungkook, you said, "I should get him to bed." But this little man was getting hard for you to carry.
"Here, let me," Jungkook said, holding his hands for Ha Joon. Jungkook swooped him up as if he was as light as a feather.
The two of you stood, watching Ha Joon sleep peacefully like nothing was wrong with the world. And in a way, you wanted him to keep his innocence as long as he could because you knew how brutal the world could be.
"Thanks for coming to hang with little man, and sorry that Wells called you."
Jungkook chuckled. "Always happy to hang out with the two of you."

so apparently PB has a book solely for their Indian audiences called 'the promise of forever' and being an Indian, of course I played it, like about a million times (mostly because it is a short read, I can get 15 diamonds) and I have some thoughts:
(if you don't wish to play the book, go ahead because there will be 'spoilers'?? it is a short book, so not really plot-twisty-things are involved)
firstly, the concept of arranged marriage depicted in the book feels like they watched 'Indian Matchmaking' on netflix and decided to cash in on that opportunity. The show in itself is very exaggerated and has many well-warranted criticisms towards it and you shouldn't take the concept of how matchmaking works in India from that show alone. It feels tone-deaf to the actual industry in India, its problems and so on. Now I don't really hold PB to a strickler for accuracy, but to market a book towards an Indian demographic and not do some proper research feels very.. weird
THE OUTFITS. for an indian family that is so hellbent on arranged marriages and their choice as gospel, it is funny how we get off-shoulder tops and glittery cocktail dresses. nowhere in actual hell would a family approve of wearing an off-shoulder top to a meeting with the son-in-law's family, like in the name of everything holy, PB, if you want to talk about how "orthodox" the MC's family is, you can't just reject this one key detail!!!
the love interest is an absolute piece of shit, by the way.
most accurate thing about this is the dad not giving a fuck about their first meeting, I love that (by the way, they used Dr Banerji's sprite and it is so fucking weird)
Also why the New York setting? I know a lot of first-gen immigrant parents do adhere to the arranged-marriage route but why New York though? While Hindu-Americans and Hindus in India usually share the same heritage, it doesn't mean their upbringing and the surroundings around them don't play a key role in how they perceive things. PB had an opportunity to really look into this, talking about culture-clashes but the book isn't too far different. You could have it in Kozhikode and it would still be.. the same.
All the more reason I think PB watched one episode of Indian Matchmaking and decided to just make this book and be like 'yay, we are going to write something for our Indian demographic and of course they'd relate to it! Oh wait-- you mean Indians in India and Indians in New York may have different experiences that can't be amalgamated into one? You mean I can't do this? That we need a sensitivity reader? Nah fuck that!' it is so fucking insulting.
Also Rishi's character (rishi is the love interest; yes, he is the only love interest; yes it's a 'he'; yes, there's no goc but points for realism I guess) is so not done well. Personally, yes, there's a preference towards cis men in Indian society - they're treated well, they're basically at the top of the food chain, but at the same time, the way he is that arrogant would NOT bode well with his family or MC's family. Like Harvard or not, he would be dropped right away. I know it is a common misconception that in Indian society, it's common for people to not take 'personality' into account while selecting a possible match for someone and it's all about their educational background, how much money they make, etc, but that's all in the past.
Arranged marriages in Hindu culture isn't always equated to abusive marriages or partners who are downright pieces of shits. Personality is a big BIG part and technically, MC should have a say. Doesn't matter if she's doing it for her parents, it is MC's life. And it isn't like the matchmaker runs out of options either. She probably has an armful of biodahtahs (if you get that reference, I am giving you a million cookies) and if Rishi isn't a match, they'd move onto the next one.
(Also it is ridiculously funny how 'arranged marriage' tropes in Western culture is equated to the 'closed proximity' trope but when you throw a couple of Indians in there, it is toxified ten-fold. Great job PB)
Now you could be like, "but Mads, it's a realistic portrayal of South Asian culture. Toxic arranged marriages do exist!" and I'm not negating that. But it would have been an empowering story if that were the plot and Rishi was a piece of shit as the narrative made him to be and MC found a way out.
But nope.
She marries him.
For a company that markets itself to be progressive, this book sure is a massive downgrade. It doesn't just villanize a character, it demonizes the whole culture. It reduces a culture to its stereotypes, even if the industry of arranged marriages in India has grown overtime and Indian society as a whole has become progressive in the past years. Or even better, Indian culture and tradition continuing to be associated with 'creepy, misogynstic men with an attitude problem' when in reality, we should be holding the person or the induvidual accountable, like how we do with actual misogynists. PB is doing an unimaginable horror here by saying this is 'accurate representation'.
The most unrealistic thing to happen is this exchange:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
No Indian turns DOWN food. Please PB get this thing right. Like I don't care if Rishi is the worst person ever or if he claims himself to be the "rudest asshole in existence"; nobody turns down fucking home-cooked food. We'll just revoke their Indian citizenship entirely.
This whole portrayal of these two characters feels so... 90s. It's like they went to ChatGPT and asked them to type a script of a Bollywood masala movie with the snobby hero getting the girl in the end. I cannot believe this is an actual thing.
ALSO WHY IS THE MAIN CHARACTER READING INTO A LITERAL ABUSIVE PERSONALITY AS ROMANTIC? I know Choices MCs have a history of that, but this is downright disappointing. Also once again, a massive 'L' in terms of the 'representation' they want to bring out. They gave MC an American upbringing, sprinkling in coriander-bits of Indian culture and it feels so patrionizing. This romanticization of toxic marriages is not 'totes adorbs'. It isn't cute. it isn't 'enemies to lovers'.
Here's a crash course in arranged marriages for you, PB:
Arranged marriages do not always end in abuse. The reason why it is popular in India, from an oversimplified way, is due to the fact that India is pretty diverse. There's tons of religions, belief sects and languages spoken and it started as a way to 'preserve people's traditions'.
While there have been problematic things about it (inter-faith marriages are frowned upon; how religion also breeds a lot of intolerance, etc) arranged marriages are done even today is to eliminate uncertainty, bring about convenience and is deeply rooted in the history of the culture as a whole.
At the same time, in modern-day society, Indians like the rest of the fucking world, have a no-tolerance policy for abusive relationships. In an ideal lens, the parents would be as involved as the MC in her marriage to Rishi. It is seldom for a modern-day-21-st-century parent to not notice the red flags. Also weird for MC to not notice it either - resorting to "oh it's just a difference of opinion" when she is clearly educated, living in America and that too New-fucking-York and still resorting to a 80s, 90s mindset.
Representation doesn't have to always be "morally good". You can have terrible Indian characters, not terribly-written Indian characters. It just needs to be plausible within modern times. That's why they call it an accurate representation. And it needs to portray the culture as it is, without the stereotypes, without the constant romanticisation of something actually terrible (i.e Rishi's poor attitude and borderline abusive personality) and associating it with the culture and calling that representation.
There are so many areas PB could have focused on in this brief book or "improved" their Indian representation:
It could be about how MC deals with being a first-gen immigrant (I assume she is) or Rishi's own qualms with fulfilling his dead father's requests of 'settling down' but finding meaning outside of the marital sphere.
It could just be about an arranged marriage NOT working out. Instead of it being played for as 'enemies to lovers', it could be about MC seeing the red flags and getting out of it and that could be her journey of embracing her culture but also be able to call out and avoid things that are damaging to her life.
Or even a book set in India minus the marriage tropes. It could just be about how MC is dealing with the 'American dream' versus trying to stay at home and staying connected to their culture. This is a real thing that's happening right now; how many Indians migrate to America looking for a new life and the moral argument that arises from it.
Heck even a MaH-themed book where queer themes are discussed through Indian perspectives.
The actual problematic undertones associated with arranged marriage culture and providing thoughtful commentary without demonizing Indian culture as a whole.
It kind of sucks that PB - even though did no advertising for this book - still uses this as a flag to tell people they write diverse stories, when really, it's once again the same stereotypical shit we've been dealing with for so many years. It's Apu from the Simpsons multiplied tenfold but takes itself too seriously and threatens us that it's 'good representation'. It also sucks that once again, Indian culture is reduced to 'daal-eating, arranged marriage'ing, orthodox rude uncles, Kama Sutra chemistry' and market it TOWARDS INDIANS which is the absolute rudest thing I have ever seen, ever.
If you've read until here, I appreciate you taking the time to do this. This is just a rant and of course, from my own personal point of view and of course opinions are going to vary. But this ain't it, PB. Shove this AI-arted cover up your rear end.
But I do want to compile a list of resources for you/additional reading if you want to see an accurate portrayal of South Asian culture:
how to name your south asian character
things to keep in mind while writing a south asian character
how 'indian matchmaking' perpetuates harmful stereotypes
the actual reality of arranged marriages
american-born confused desis and representation (reddit thread)

Harry Dresden Does Not Handle Exes Well
Tumblr media
If Storm Front was the general introduction to the world, Fool Moon to werewolves, and Grave Peril to the Vampire Courts, then Summer Knight is where we meet the Fae Courts, and they are unequivocably the most dangerous of the factions Dresden has interacted with so far. Harry's actions and interactions with the Queens and Ladies in this book echo into the rest of the series, and have consequences all the way through Peace Talks and Battle Ground. That said, this book is also weirdly bifurcated in terms of Harry's personal character arc--he had man pain and girl trouble--and the plot-y, political stuff with the council and fae courts. Let's talk Summer Knight.
As per usual, FULL SERIES SPOILERS below the break, so be warned.
Harry opens this book hardcore wallowing in guilt and self-loathing over Susan's abortive transformation, exodus from his life, and his own inability to reverse the change. He hasn't showered or shaved in way too long, he's about to be evicted from everywhere, and all his friends are trying and failing to stage interventions.
Then the high school sweetheart he low-key thought he might have accidentally murdered after she betrayed him to their abusive foster father/teacher (who Harry killed in a duel) quite literally knocks on his front door.
And this is on top of Murphy--who has fully shifted into BFF territory at this point--struggling with psychic scars that Harry also blames himself for. Being a mortal woman in Harry Dresden's orbit honestly sounds EXHAUSTING because this man has exactly zero sense of the balance required to actually help someone. Harry gets lost in his own man pain and how he somehow "should" be able to throw raw power at a problem and fix it, and the next thing you know, the women who are reasonably dealing with their own trauma suddenly have to drag Harry's ass out of his pain over their pain. There is a reason flight attendants tell you to put on your own mask before assisting others. Hell, even Elaine says it to Harry at the end of the book:
Stop feeling sorry for yourself, Harry. [...] I understand that there's something you're blaming yourself for. I'm just guessing at the details, but its pretty clear you were driving yourself into the ground because of it. Get over it. You aren't going to do her any good as a living mildew collection. Stop thinking about how bad you feel--because if she cares about you at all, it would tear her up to see you like I saw you a few days ago.
This is not the last time someone calls Harry out for not helping, but it honestly isn't until about Skin Game that the Susan stuff and its aftermath get fully resolved. Not to get too TMI on main, but honestly Harry reminds me of a college boyfriend I had who just could not handle my health stuff. And that's not a judgment thing, not everyone can handle everything, but where Harry falls down on the goddamn job here is not knowing where his own weaknesses are and compensating for them. His pattern of "but muh man pain" holds all the way through the series, literally up to and including Battle Ground.
So suffice it to say that I'm not a huge fan of Harry Dresden Goes to Peices over Both His Ex-Griflriends. So what did I like about this book?
Couple things.
I loved that Harry finally brought Murphy fully into the supernatural world fold. I don't love his sexist bullshit with her, but I spent a lot of the series ignoring that because the rest of their dynamic is really damn good. And Murphy handing the Chlorofiend its own ass is never not awesome.
I also really, really enjoyed the introduction of the fae courts. Butcher really did take just a massive double handful of fairy myth threads and weave them into something magical (if perpetually horny in a way that gets really complicated and more than a little contradictory later). Summer and Winter more or less seem to map onto the Seelie and Unseelie courts, and the power structures more or less steal from the maiden (lady)/mother (queen)/crone (mother) structure of triple goddesses across the world. Not to mention that we get folkloric and fantasy creatures from trolls and centaurs to red caps and Jenny Greenteeth throughout the courts. We even get things like changelings and Victorian Era-inspired small folk. We also get the dangers of fairy bargains, food, and glamor. I would be hard-pressed to point to a fairytale/fae folk tradition that doesn't get some level of wink-and-nod at some point in the series. Hell, we even get a cheeky final line from Shakespeare's fairy play, at which point you've officially ticked every box.
Overall, I would have to say that the worldbuilding and the fae courts were what really kept me reading this book. I loved the synthesis of lore and myth in creating them, and the little bait and switch we get with Winter being the straight shooting court and Summer being absofuckingloutely terrifying in its duplicity is a nice touch that honestly I didn't appreciate on earlier reads.

Toma - Second Times A Charm??
Some Spoilers Ahead.
So decided to randomly pick one of the love interests I hadn't done much with and the one that one out was Toma. I did his story in Amnesia Memories and was creeped out by his yandere bullshit. That being said I tried to do Later x Crowd and she was so nice to him that it sickened me so I left it after maybe a chapter and its taken me lik 6 months to come back to him now. I said fuck it I push through it I'm thinking its been enough time that even though I know what he did its not effecting me I think as much not to try..... TRY key word to see how he is romantically I mean come on compared to Yang's story I just did Toma is a freakin pussy cat. I took some screen shots of some moments I need to get off my chest so far though..
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Exactly I agree with her so much what does Toma have Ikki don't have.... NOT A DAMN THING!! Ikki is life..... Thought was funny how she called Toma a stalker though.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I have alot to say about this... first off the fact that he admits he knew he was a bad guy to her and that he lost control says volumes about him. He is also giving her a way out that if she loses feelings for him or that she gets scared to just walk away and he will not harm her. He also wants to be punished for what he did he feels like he shouldn't be treated like nothing happened. He wants to be happy but understands he has to take consequences for his actions. However what the hell lately when these Japanese guys say good girl it just makes my heart beat much faster.. what are these men doing to me and now Toma joins that group sighs I hate to admit I liked it... but I did!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I just couldn't not bring this up I mean its like addressing the elephant in the room. Dude still has that damn cage on his balcony SMH. Then he talks about being strapped for cash yet at least he admits that cage was costly and unnecessary next time maybe he will think twice before impulsively buying stupid shit. However when she wanted him in bed with her snuggling he admitted to having no control around her and he wanted to be locked in the cage now too damn funny. Guess this means new kink sessions with Toma we will turn him into a submissive that bows down to the MC so he can get a taste of his own medicine. However I don't see him being submissive least be fun to put the cage to use then... (OMG what is wrong with me this man should not be someone I even thought about that with lmao)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tumblr media
Aww look at that he learned to stop smothering her and locking her away from the world. Maybe those 3 months away from her after did him some damn good, who knows maybe he saw counseling and is on meds now.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I love that he hasn't forgiven himself he knows what he did was fucked up and is determined to not let himself off so easy even though she acts like it didn't happen. I actually respect him for this think my heart warmed up a bit to him for this. I mean this is the man that I loved in him before the dark shit he did this was the best friend of hers talking. Anyways that he promises not to tie her up or anything again lets see if he sticks to his promise. Only time will tell.

Okay, this is not a good time to post this ON VALENTINE'S DAY but since this is brought up again and I will tell my theories!
WARNING: It's a theory! Contains comics and movie spoilers! You have been warned
.
.
.
.
.
I never shared this before, It just I had a theory that Talia slept with Jason is to rise a dna from him? I have a theory about Damian isn't actually her and Bruce's kid. But with Jason instead.
.
If you don't know what I'm talking about, then you haven't read Under The Red Hood comics or Red Hood: Lost Days, here is my previous post!
.
What's to prove this?
Talia had a different reputation or depiction now, it seems? She had always slept around in order to rise a powerful kid or descendants to the league? I'm sorry if I explained it wrong, I wanted to say that she had a kid with Deathstroke.
Tumblr media
Is she a good mom? No, it's a fan fiction. Batman Family: Slice of Life, Webtoons it's a fan service behind every drama in DCU. It's hardly happening. Talia always seen her child as weapon, she's searching for the powerful heir? The one to leads the next League of Assasins, I'm sorry if I depicted this in wrong way! Since I'm talking about modern Talia!
I want to clear something though, I have read or known her appearance is not something REALLY, PURE EVIL, SLUTS,
Checked out my reblogged post...
https://www.tumblr.com/geekynerdfinallyhada-name/736530848644464640/is-this-good-its-from-btac-s3-8?source=share
Tumblr media
Also her version in BTAC: S3 #8
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Enough talking about that one, let's get to the explanation point.
Notice that Bruce's eyes is blue?
Tumblr media
It's Blue, right??
"He had his father's eyes, don't you think?" -Talia, Death in The Family
Tumblr media
First, seems Talia here had her eyes colored brown. She had brown eyes and...
Tumblr media
That child had FUCKING GREEN EYES
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also guys! If you ever wondered, I guess this is where the fan fiction begins with Jason had green eyes. He is actually had always been "blue eyes"
We can argue if it's animation error and inconsistencies! But yes... Fucking hell, she's a manipulator. One thing about manipulator is that they're a liar, never trust their words so openly
Thank you to have a time to read this! I'm sorry if I makes grammar mistakes or my words are so messy! You'll get what I mean: She said Damian had his father's eyes, but Bruce's eyes is Blue and her eyes is brown. Um! Jason Todd does have green eyes in there, which is... Damian's eyes!
Another thing! The one in Red Hood: The Lost Days, it's the first and I think... Only? (I'm not talking about N52) Where it's clear that he slept with someone, Talia *THAT SOMEONE IS THE ONE WHO RAISED HIM!? :'(( okay, he was emotionally vulnerable too!? Is he... Groomed???????
Please broke my theories, thank you!! :) We know we don't want this to happen but drama is drama anyways. It's DCU, it's always been darker things happened

Thoughts about Dyed Dark as Night
Spoilers for the last chapter of the fic, naturally.
First thing I'm sure most people are wondering about is, you know, where do Malleus and Rollo go? There are a few possibilities I like. Something about them going to some middle of nowhere wilderness, maybe in the Sunset Savannah since Sebek's grandpa lived there, and using only their dragon forms appeals to me... but I also think Rollo would probably reject that idea unless there was no other choice
Kinda my favorite option, though it might not make a ton of sense, is them returning to the bell tower and living there, almost... haunting it. NBC would no longer be an arcane academy, but if society doesn't collapse I don't see why it couldn't become a normal school. Or maybe a monastery? Then the students could spread rumors about the "demons" or (to Malleus' potential delight) the ~gargoyles~ that they sometimes catch gazing down at them from the tower.
Or... maybe NBC is abandoned. Then they live there undisturbed while taking care of the bell.
In the end, though, at minimum they have to find a place that isn't populated and eke out a living somehow. I'm sure Rollo could grow food and with practice maybe they both could hunt if necessary. If they lived in Noble Bell, I think they might feed off the kitchens. With their magic gone, they can't use glimmers, but I don't think Rollo would be above cutting his horns off and wearing sunglasses to walk among humans.
Though there's the question of what happens to dragon fae without magic. Do they stay in people form? Do they revert to their dragon form, which might be the more 'natural' way? If they're stuck as dragons, then Fleur City is out.
Next thing is: who won the most? It's definitely Malleus, he got centuries of living the good life with his draconic fae Rollo wife. Rollo did get rid of magic though, so Jehan (hundreds of years dead) can finally rest in peace... right?
I think by the end, Malleus is so intensely dependent on Rollo that he can do anything and Malleus would still rationalize it away. He went insanely far for him when, really, he hadn't known Rollo that long, so naturally the scale would only get more severe over time. The thought of Rollo not being with him is somehow worse than magic leaving the world. Sure, Rollo brought Briar Valley to its knees and possibly ended up killing thousands of fae (or more) who had no idea how to fend for themselves without magic, but... well, there's nothing to do about it now. What point could there be in living in a ruined world without Rollo?
If even Rollo is like, "Wait a second, what am I gonna do without Malleus?" then for Malleus it's gotta be 100x worse.
I strongly considered having those draconic instincts fully seep into Rollo and change his personality. Like one day he'd be in the greenhouse and go, "What am I doing?" Then he'd destroy all of his efforts and act as a dutiful mate to Malleus. I think this is the scariest outcome for Rollo, since Malleus would have reshaped him body, mind, and maybe even soul. Ugh! Horrifying. It was very tempting... but I felt like Malleus would've won too hard. Unacceptable. So, now Malleus is responsible for not only the end of the Draconia dynasty, but the end of his country and magic itself. Nice! I'm sure mom and grandma would be very proud.
Another question people might be wondering about. Will they have kids? I'm guessing probably not. Seems cruel to have a child and thrust them into their situation. Imagine if word got out that the child of the man who eradicated magic was wandering around...
That's all I can come up with for now. If anyone has any questions, I'd be happy to answer them.

Okay so i gotta talk about Gen V ep 5 or am gonna explode!
And gotta talk about The Boys S4 spoilers for 2 reasons... 1) something mentioned by Dr Cardosa in the episode and 2) the VoughtHQ twitter leaker... mainly cuz am getting this after trying to check on a leak from season 4... their twitter also wont load for me... like can we just let Becca Saunders rest? Can her poor life stop being milked for manpain??
Spoilers under cut obvi.
Tumblr media
First-- off congrats Marie and Jordan I hope you 2 get married and be the power couple this universe needs.
Tumblr media
Second here its out Butcher cameo lol. I think this is from S1 after killing madelyn but seeing him in a beanie its so weird altho there is a Homelander article in the same page so who knows.
Third-- Cate you poor bitch!! I felt so betrayed but i dont doubt she its being brainwashed/groomed by Dean Shety so maybe she can be redeemed and her powers are too strong.... i dont doubt that there its a chance she its involved in who appears in ep 6 if thats not a halucination.
Fourth-- Dr. Cardosa mentioning a virus to deal with them... so i guess thats how we r gonna deal with the supe population and why i think the vought hq leak might be real as it mentions the virus as well... i think its super interesting that Vought its developing a virus to kill supes, i guess stan edgar did had a way to make V24 viable despite having supes and maybe a way to get rid of Homelander... by giving him the common cold i guess.
Fifth-- am glad that Maverick is another bisexual king but its the bestiality jokes necessary?? altho I assume his alpaca gf Sloane its just a shapeshifter. So far we got Marie, Jordan, Emma, Cate and Andre as our bisexual monarchs and thats basically the whole cast sans Sam... absolutely iconic Kripke, best apology after fucking up Dean Winchester but i wont forgive you for what u did... still thank you.
Sixth-- the pv for the next ep has fucking Soldier Boy!!! Deep down i feel he its most likely a halucination... saw some ppl theorizing that Cate its mindstorm daughter and she witnessed Mindstorm getting killed by SB so she will use her powers to send them to a mind prison to fight SB which is absurd but i doubt SB its there unless Cate's powers were use to brainwash soldier boy and use him as a weapon in the future, as his powers r too good plus is Vought wants to kill all supes then it makes sense for them to team up with the american govt and have SB as back up while they work with the Superona.
Seventh-- i only now noticed there its a wall poster for homie and loneliness on those school mental health ads which is sad and funny.
Eight-- overall great episode loved how much its happening and its only been days inside the canon, and fuck Rufus! How its the next 3 eps gonna kill me!! Like its too freaking much!!
And finally this shit...
Tumblr media
I would not be surprised if this virus is the one being developed in The Woods by Vought, second if this is real then Butcher its a complete pos and a hypocrite i expect the following scenarios of: a) during the time Becca was raped or the wk she went missing thats when Butcher cheated on Becca so its not hatred that motivated his revenge against Homelander but guilt for cheating on his wife... probably with his married fbi plug if i had to take a guess. Or B) Becca learned of his affair decided to have her own affair with Homelander tried to end it which resulted in her S.A. which its why Homelander doesnt see what he did as rape bcuz i guess its not assault if its ur GF/Wife in his mind.
And i guess he takes V or the V24 never left his body unless some Supe can give powers which cause Butcher to use them am so confused is he like a power conduit???
I am gonna say Frenchie or MM will die in this story unless by main characthers they mean any of the Seven, Vought execs or Neuman... doubt Hughie, Starlight, Kimiko or Homelander are gonna die in S4.... but maybe Ashley who knows.
And finally giving cookies to Ryan did like HL saw the tumor felt sad for Butcher and decided to let him see Ryan? or did Ryan just sneaked out and met Billy??

Hands in Hands, and an Empty One
Characters: hooo boy get ready. In alphabetical order: Bdubs, Cleo, Jimmy, Joel, Lizzie, Martyn, Pearl, Ren, Scar, Scott, Tango. All important. 5 different povs through the Life series. Also mentioned Etho.
Wc: 1,000
Written for @flashfictionfridayofficial prompt 238, "Take My Hand"
Spoilers for uh. All the life series, I guess.
AO3: Here!
First came a test of loyalty. The king punched the face of his Hand, and the Hand remained firm in his conviction. He would not strike back, even though he was allowed to. Even though he could kill the King and end his reign in one strike, like he did with his previous life.
The King’s face transformed with a toothy grin and he bellowed:
“Take my hand, oh most loyal friend of mine, for you have proven your loyalty to me against all reason. It shall be you and I ‘til we bury our enemies and it shall be just us when we rest in ash!”
The Shadow Alliance stood in a circle on the grounds of the Shadow Fort. They’d let Scott in, pretty recklessly, but it was Scott. He wouldn’t harm them for no reason, and he wasn’t red. Unless he was the Boogeyman, which Lizzie had not considered before letting him inside the fort. But he came bearing gifts! Faeries liked gifts.
This gift, however…
“This Wither skull was Grian’s. Now, we have our own, and that’s why we decided to entrust this one to you.” Scott narrowed his eyes and spoke slowly. “If you take it, you must keep it safe. Far away from Grian. We all know what he’s capable of.”
She nodded firmly and reached for the skull, but Scott stopped her.
“We must shake on it. You have to be careful. Never let it fall into the wrong hands.”
“I will not,” she said with more certainty than she felt.
The two shook hands and Scott was handing her the skull before she had time to process it.
“Now, hide!”
Tango nearly screeched in awe. It was working! The Warden was out, nametagged, and ready to be deployed on its unsuspecting victims. But they had to get out of the way before it could notice them and attack. It was already risky enough putting the nametag.
“Jimmy!” He yelled in a whisper, careful of his volume so that the Warden wouldn’t hear him.
The other Rancher glanced back and almost fell when Tango grabbed onto his hand and yanked him along.
“Hey!” Jimmy said in the same tone of voice, as he stumbled with each step.
“Shh! We gotta get the Warden to the surface. Come on!”
“At least warn me to take your hand next. I could’ve fallen!”
“If this goes correctly, there will be no need for a next time. Hold tight!”
Cleo knew what was about to happen. The Red Wars, as Scar had called it, would come any time soon. For now, it was her and her… ‘children’ — she shuddered at having called them that. Her Clockers, she preferred, but when those two got ideas in their heads…
Then the so-called ‘absent father’ came, had a whole ‘awkward family dinner’ with them, played catch with the ‘children’ using TNT, the two Clockers blew up, and then he left.
Honestly, Cleo couldn’t stand him. Any time Etho wasn’t there was a good time, if you asked them. Sure, they originally wanted to be whisked away by him so they wouldn’t have to deal with two grown adults calling them ‘mother’, but since then, he’d made himself a nuisance and, honestly, for being an absent father, he sure was sticking around too long.
The front door of their clock tower shut with a bang and Scar was shaking from rage, Bdubs barely holding him back.
“Get back here, you coward! You know what you did!”
Cleo shook their head and put a hand on their face.
“He’s gone, Scar. He can’t hear you.”
“Sure he can! What an absolute… I don’t even have the words for it! Bdubs let go of me!”
Cleo sighed and looked at Bdubs, who was clearly struggling to keep Scar in place, considering Bdubs’... height. Or lack thereof.
“Bdubs, let go of Scar. Scar, don’t go after Etho. I know you want to kill him, and I do too, but we aren’t red yet. Keep it for the end.”
Scar snarled but it quickly morphed into a devious grin. “Oh I will.”
Bdubs let go of him.
“Okay.” Cleo clapped her hands and stood in front of her team. “We have to promise to each other that we’re here to the end, alright?”
Bdubs and Scar nodded, but that wasn’t enough.
“Take my hands and I want you to repeat it.”
“Clockers until the end!”
“What Scar said!”
“Bdubs…”
“... But counting Etho.”
Cleo and Scar groaned, but it was to be expected. Hard to have Bdubs go against Etho.
“Well, close as we’re gonna get!”
“Bdubs? Joel? Are you two ready?” Pearl said, gripping her sword. It was the final week, could even be the final day for all she knew. All got the final task to Win the Game, it was now or never. Her Mounders had to win. They already lost Mumbo to a Warden, but she still had her other friends, and they had to win.
They’d already died once through the chaos of last week, and there was no doubt in her mind that this week would be equally as chaotic, if not more so.
It was now more important than ever that they stick together.
“Make a round!”
“Round mound,” Joel muttered and Pearl side-glanced at him.
“Sure,” she said with a grin
She brought a hand up at him, and Joel took it. They both turned to Bdubs and raised their hands at him.
“Come on, Mounder.”
“You in, big boy?"
That was all he needed. Bdubs reached out.
Pearl cheered, and the others followed: “Mounders for life!”
Her Mounders were dead, Scott and Gem too. Her and Scar were the only ones left.
He turned against her, struck her with his arrows before she could react.
Pearl ran, tried to fight back. She was cornered against a ravine.
And she slipped.
As she fell, she held out a hand, knowing he wouldn’t grab it and pull her out.

fuck it I’m crossposting, here’s my livetweets for palisade 24. I put it on cohost too but I need to Post Everywhere you see
Also if anyone has suggestions on how I should live post spoilers when I have a disease and plan on posting on 3 different sites until further notice please let me know. The answer is to simply stop posting
Anyways
I didn’t realize theres a whole sun mission moon mission situation going on here…. Also I feel actively unwell listening to this the content warning just obliterated normal functions. I too am feverish
ham slurpers
GANG GANG SOLAR COMBUSTION SO GOOD NO SPICY FUCK OFFFFF
Mustard red does npc tiktok im losing m y mind
Everyone taking a big breath with this good roll including me
chimeric cadent… what does that mean…
man fuck off clem theres enough going on
ancient enemy of the iconoclasts… we have been three different people…….. i swesr to god if this is the waking cadent and signet and some third thing i will scream.
Its bug like in some forms. I swesr to god if my signet is still alive theory was right but like this …………………. Bro austin is pranking me right now im being personally trolled
“A third life in this place where life is sacred…” kamala cadence was the one who was hesitant about divines dying… reading the wiki real quick thats the reason why her and independence fell out huh
Actively jokerfying about this
I keep looking at the time hoping they wont have enough time to get to sun party gjshdh
IWAS RIGHT ITS BELGARD CADENT SIGNET. AUSTIN. IM RUNNING AROUND DOING LUNGES I need to catch my breath. I was going to not do capslock for any of my rot13 threads but i do not know how to how could I not
Barricade… Volicity…. Bounty…. Loyalty……….. just listing the ones I recognize
Nooooo back to sun crew
Its really going to explode in the next 20 minutes huh its just going to end when something so compelling happened on the moon party and its going to explodeand everyone dies huh
Im a little calmer at this moment and just being pre-dissapointed and I guess its poignant maybe if it all blows up but like cmon .
This didnt bother me as much but this is probably what people felt about all the divines and ships described in tm ep 00 just being there to die right at the start except its been like 40 episodes of build up
fifteen minutes left
the sun side has felt like theyve been diffusing a bomb since the beginning of this arc and the timer is counting down Fast
Nine minutes left
four minutes
failed roll is here
Okay. Music is on. Things have messed up but no explosion yet. So analyzing the ep, I don’t think they would put on a content warning just to keep spoilers vague (I mean I was assuming this whole time just in case but it does feel irresponsible)
the mass death/genocide warning was probably regarding chimera’s lantern and what happened when the principality decided to “eradicate” the last of advent OR its regarding asepsis’s actions against the equiaxed in partizan. Either way things are bad for sun side…theyve been ending the episodes like this every time so far lmao. But it has not exploded Yet. Imagine if the next ep is like 30 minutes long lmao
I feel like im breathing for the first time in two point five hours

leak for acheron's identity!
+theory and rambles-
.
.
.
.
.
my honest reaction :
Tumblr media
listen....my fav aeon having an emenator stirs excited violent feelings in me, and while i do like acheron i expected IX's emenator to be different. OKAY WELL FINE it makes sense that some nihilsitic ppl would mask their thoughts, or you know have fun at times, it's just.... as an emenator, acheron isnt the epitomy of a mini nihility representation.
And the many ppl theorizing she is a finality emenator, i agreed with them since it logically makes sense which made me doubt the leaks for a second lol (but they were confiremed abt 3 times by now...)
but you know how this will make sense? i think acheron's identity reveals A LOT than just the existence of a nihility emenator.
aven suspected that acheron may be a finality emenator OR a nihility, and a previous SU remark by herta throws us off from reaching the assumption that, nihility has absorbed finality.
herta questions the existence of destruction when finality exists, since they have an overlap.
but when all clues of acheron point to her being a finality emenator, and in reality she's a nihility, i guess that theory sounds silly still, but has more weight.
altho tbf, destruction is abt nanook destroying the universe, while terminus stands for the natural finality of everything, while IX agrees with the last.
"They believe that the ultimate fate of the multiverse is nothingness, and therefore, worthless."
IX believes that the multiverse is destined to end, AND it never had meaning. in a sense, IX stands for finality more than terminus does, cuz terminus may believe in the finality of everything but their powers involve prophecies and time travel.
the theory of IX absorbing terminus is a bit too far fetched, especially since finality has active believers, so here's the next best thing : we know that all paths eventually converge towards the path of finality. IX being the closest, there's some kind of connection.
acheron's ult portrays a black hole, black holes wrap time, CONCEDENCE? I THINK NOT.
id like to mention that if IX truly absorbed finality, i'd have two nickles which isnt a lot but weird that it happened twice. in fact there's another aeon who disappeared mysteriously that overlaps with IX. THAT WILL SHOW HERTA TO PUT RESPECT ON THEIR NAME
it's oroboros, the voracity. from the name it doesnt sound similar but they have many description that fit IX :
"In the eyes of Oroboros, life is a flickering fragment floating in the sea of void, destined to return to the darkness along with the stars which birthed them "
now this line is interesting, as it represents oroboros metaphorically and IX literally, yet wasn't used for IX:
"the black hole with thought."
"They are reserved and uncommunicative, occasionally resulting in unintended consequences when attempting to speak — such as inadvertently consuming their conversation partner."
and what's the parallel in IX? as seen in our first meeting in SU, where TB's mind almost breaks, and supported by IX's profile :
"do not glance at the abyss of the void... for it holds nothing except for the ability to make mortals lose all reason and thought."
apparently acheron is one of the few individuals who can resist IX's mind break, the reason her character tricks us into not considering the nihility emenator option i'm jealous. i loved her authority tho ITS SO COOL! the actual damage she does to her surroundings... we understand now why she didnt unsheathe her sword against death, cuz then, well :3 spoilers! cant wait till i can freely talk abt it EEEEEE
now in reality, the closest finality emenator we have is elio, he might be an Omen Vanguard. it kinda makes sense for this path to be gatekept for a later stage in the story
and tadaa!
i cant say this in tags so ill say it here, PLS DOCTOR OF CHAOS EMENATOR PLSPLSPLSPLSPLSPLSPLSPLSSPLSPLSPLS
already feeling emotional abt IX blessing one of them 🥹
first doctor of chaos SHALL BE MINE

i have a confession to make. the gods au was actually just a little snack, a tiny distraction for in between until i got around to bother you with an au of my favourite book series. i could say i'm sorry, but we both know that ain't true. does it make a lot of sense? probably not. does it feed my needs? absolutely fucking yes. that being said, if the below sparks interest, check out the lumatere chronicles by melina marchetta. needless to mention. huge spoiler alert for the series. anyway-
i'm mostly taking ideas from the latter two books, what you need to know from the first is,
- it's set in medieval-ish times. what can i say. i'm weak.
- the whole world comes with a map of several countries, the most important ones for us are lumatere and charyn.
- the kingdom of lumatere had been cursed for ten years. nobody had been able to enter the kingdom.
- some of its people had been trapped inside the country. they could not communicate with those (of their people) outside the country.
- the curse was brought onto the country after their royal family had been slain in a nightly ambush. the ambush had been led by the king's brother or cousin (i can't quite remember), with the help of soldiers sent to aid him by the kingdom of charyn. he claimed the throne. he's called the impostor king; i don't think we ever get told his actual name.
- only the young prince was believed to survive the massacre. turned out, he sacrificed his life for his little sister.
- ten years later the protagonist of the book has a dream that tells him to pick up this young novice in a cloister. turns out, it's the princess, there's some magical soulmate thing going on between them. they free their country, lead it with justice and kindness and are beloved by their people.
- on their travels to gather their people they met a boy on the streets. some things happen, they free him from some slave traders, he's bound to them by them -mainly the queen- saving his life, he becomes the main protagonist of the next two books.
i think that covers all, now let me get to the fun part that is the canon story of book two and three!
- one of the main characters' first words are literally, “but if your mouth touches mine, i will cut it out.” which is honestly the main reason i am now here to bother you with all this.
- it's revealed that the kingdom of charyn is cursed, too. after their princess was born, no child was born to the kingdom. everybody who was pregnant lost their child, nobody could get pregnant again. i think it had something to do with someone killing their saint/oracle, but i would have to go back to read all of it to be entirely sure.
- this has been going on for eighteen years.
- the prophecy says the two last born children of charyn will break the curse by “making the first”, which they interpret as them producing a child.
- charyn is devided into provinces. year after year the last born of each province makes his way to the palace to see whether he is the one last born they need to lift the curse. It does not work.
- the queen of lumatere is still angry about her family being slain and her people being cursed in the wake of it. due to circumstance they get the chance to send an assassin into charyn to kill the king, and the princess.
- the assassin, you guessed it, is the boy the picked up on the streets. they had him be trained by the royal guard for this specific reason. so far, he had been sent after those who collaborated with the impostor king.
- long story short, he's obviously sent into charyn to execute the killings. one thing leads to another, he falls for the princess, it's revealed he's actually a charynite, surprise surprise, he's the other last born they need to lift the curse, there's a lot of running to be done, a lot of heartbreak and push and pull between the protagonist and the princess.
- he returns to his kingdom without having fulfilled his task (obviously), it's apparent he's heartbroken. there's also that period where he believes the princess -and their unborn child- to be dead.
- turns out that isn't true, and despite how much their hearts break over it, the king and queen of lumatere send him back to charyn. they disguise him as the son of two of their nobles so he's of proper stance to marry the princess.
- their marriage leads to peace between the kingdoms, everybody is happy. practically.
now to what i thought about for the crossover-
- it's mainly still the original storyline. terry gets to be a mixture between the charynite king and his asshole advisor kind of guy. the latter assaults the princess because he thinks he's destined to break charyn's curse. reminds me of mandy's tragedy with the pregnancy and all. obviously, it does not work like this here, but you get what i mean.
- to have this make sense, hear me out. mickey is the last born royal child. his and mandy's mother is actually from one of the other kingdoms and not a charynite by blood. mandy is the result of an affair of hers, thankfully she looks enough like mickey so it doesn't get caught. sorry to mandy, but i need you to fit my agenda.
- thankfully, ian already kind of fits the plans. (if anybody reads the actual books, yes, the original protagonist from book one is a redhead, too, leave me alone.) while he shared the same mother as his siblings, his biological father is a charynite. the main part i'll have to change about him and mickey is making them born close to each other, probably on the exact same day, because i really
- i'll have the gallaghers originally be farmers, because i can.
- while their country was cursed fiona, debbie, carl, and liam were trapped inside the country, him and lip among those who could flee in time. they're picked up by the queen (still in disguise) and her entourage. basically the substitutes for the orphan boy.
- in the meantime, fiona married the son of a lord who was close to the royal family. (jimmy-steve possibility, maybe?)
- after they reunite, ian has troubles finding his place with his family. during his and lip's time outside the country's walls, he met a ton of people and learned a lot about them. his heart is yearning for – something. someone?
- through his brother in law and the relationship built during their travels, he gets a position in the royal guard. obviously, he becomes a trusted soldier and trained as an assassin. he's sent to charyn after they hear about their curse, to basically make sure they never get another heir. jokes on. practically everonye.
- now where it gets interesting is the prophecy. i'll have it be a classical misinterpretation. “make the first” - what. nobody said anything about a baby. for all we know they could make handprints on the palace walls as the first people ever and tada, the curse is broken.
more quotes from the books i think would fit our favourite idiots,
- most days he feared that a monster of great baseness lived inside him, fighting to set itself free. killing the traitors […] made sense. but killing also fed the monster. → maybe hinting at ian's bipolar? i'm not sure how it could be properly brought into this.
- as always, the intimacy between them made [him] ache. / it wasn't magic or curses, this thing that lay between them. it was more profound than that. he couldn't even put it into words, and at times it made him want to walk away and take refuge from the ties that bound them both.
- in a kinder world, one i promise you i've seen, men and women flirt and dance and love with only the fear of what it would mean without the other in their lives.
- he was as wild as ever and full of rage at the world. at himself.
- do i have to be here to belong to you? can't i belong to you wherever i am?
- our bodies aren't strangers. our spirits aren't strangers. tell me what part of me is stranger to you, and i'll destroy that part of me.
- “i'm not worth the valley.” “you're worth a kingdom.”
this is very many words (according to my word program 1,476 words, precisely) for saying i have an unhealthy obsession with two pieces of media and desperately need them fused. i will go and bury myself now, thanksokaybye.
Good morning my darling! This is fucking amazing, let's dive the fuck in!
Listen man, you can't come up to me with a medieval kingdom soulmate AU without a warning like that, I need to sit down.
The first book sounds so good! Like is it mostly about their journey? I am a sucker for a good soulmate storyline!
“But if your mouth touches mine, I will cut it out.” -> No fucking way! this! this is exactly! It's meant to be.
the original protagonist from book one is a redhead, too, leave me alone. -> Hahaha to be honest Ian Gallagher changes me into a redhead enthusiast, so I think this is very valid. However, I will not leave you alone.
I'll have the Gallaghers originally be farmers, because I can. -> yes you can. You can also have all my money to continue telling me this story.
Ian and Lip being able to escape and being picked up together reminds me of the CPS plot in s3!
Fiona married the son of a lord who was close to the royal family. -> Jimmy-Steve !!! I love how we manage to slip him into so many AUs! Maybe his dad is the royal family doctor / advisor?
Thinking back about Lip trying to help Ian get into west point and JROTC, this make so much sense that Ian would become a solider. Maybe running away, joining the army, like in canon? not sure what would set it off... Maybe people discovering about him and Ned?
Nobody said anything about a baby. for all we know they could make handprints on the palace walls -> hahaha okay but what if it's make the first true love? Like all the royal couples in their kingdom before them were arranged marriages or something of the sort and this was they first time the prince got to chose someone he loves?
This is so fucking incredible because I am getting so much of the "I want the gun back Mickey" vibes but more in the "prepare to die" kind of way... Ian sneaking into Mickey's bedroom to kill him but getting distracted and somehow ending up fucking? (the curse only breaks when they 'make love')
Alternatively, maybe they make the first united country as Ian grew up in a different one (if I understood you Ian's dad is from charynite and his mom from lumatere, terry is the king of charynite and Mickey's mom is as well, but maybe she cheated with Mickey's real dad?) hence no one thinks they are the couple that will break the curse, but they're both mixed, and make the first mixed couple? I don't know if this makes sense at all.
quotes from the books I think would fit our favorite idiots (I am so ready for this!) - in a kinder world, one i promise you i've seen, men and women flirt and dance and love with only the fear of what it would mean without the other in their lives. -> "In what fucking world do you live in?" straight to my heart. - do i have to be here to belong to you? can't i belong to you wherever i am? -> "I want to be where you are, Mickey!"
1,476 words of pure fucking gold, Nosho. I am dying. This is too good. I feel blessed. You better come back from the dead so we can talk about it more!

Gundam: The Witch from Mercury Ep. 2 impressions
[G-Witch episode 2 spoilers]
Shet ang ganda! There was no action at all this episode but I think it's better than Ep. 1. The emotional beats, the plot + character development, the art, worldbuilding, the voice performances. Woooo my god this anime has exceeded hype so far!
Poor bb Suletta can't catch a break. But alas, that is what it means to be a Gundam protagonist.  I love Miorine too, good subversion on the damsel/princess in distress trope imo; even if she's trapped in her father's corpo nightmare kingdom, she's asserting herself and trying everything she can to take back control of her life.
Oh, I also noticed that this timeline does have unmanned/AI-operated mobile suits like Gundam Wing. But unlike Wing's mobile dolls, which were super-efficient killing machines, the drone suits here seem to be more like fodder. But it's too early in the show to say for sure.
Something to note about the red MS after the ED: it deployed what looked like its own Bits or "drones", perhaps its own GUND system that allows it to control autonomous weapons. My guess is that in providing Gundam Aerial (w/c uses illegal tech) an avenue to exist, the other corpos will start bringing out their illegal GUND tech using similar excuses/loopholes, kicking off an arms race and escalation of tensions.
Now I wanna talk about the worldbuilding since this episode we get to learn more about the world of the Gundam Ad Stella (AS) timeline. I really like it so far. I think it’s a vision of a future that could happen if people like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos are allowed to run rampant in space. Just look at how they run their companies now; if they expand to outer space with similar impunity, they'll turn it into an authoritarian corporate dystopia just like AS Gundam.
The trend in recent Gundam AUs (like IBO and WfM) seems to be putting emphasis on powerful private institutions like corporations holding authority in outer space, rather than state actors like the Federation and Zeon in the UC*, and I think this is a reflection of how Gundam interprets our present-day trends and projects them into the future. Who are the loudest, most influential, and most capable (in terms of resources) advocates of space colonization and exploration today? It’s not world governments, but aggressive megacorporations who see opportunities to expand out to space in order to shape the kind of future they want for themselves. This latest Gundam presents a rather dark projection of that future, and I am interested in seeing how our protagonists will challenge the oppressive systems that hold it together.
*though even the UC has this angle, particularly with the massive earth-space corporation Anaheim Electronics, which from Zeta Gundam onwards holds what is essentially a monopoly on so many industries, mobile suits in particular, giving them power to start and end conflicts with impunity whenever they deem it profitable.
To end on a lighter note, oh my goodness LOOK AT THE ED! you don't draw Suletta and Miorine like that and not expect us to ship them!! (+ in the OP they were holding hands and smiling at each other aaaa) My heart cant take this they’re so cute!!!
Consider me 200% on the hype (and shipping) train for Witch from Mercury. See y’all next week.

So, House of the Dragon…
Tumblr media
This first episode felt like coming home: a stinking, blooding, violently familiar but oh-so fond, home. Westeros is back, but has it retained its knack at awing audiences?
I think so, but I'm nervous. Here's why.
Spoilers for House of the Dragon.
As I said, House of the Dragon truly did feel like a homecoming. Delving back into Westeros' deep and dark corners gives this show an edge as we, the viewers, are already connected to this world. We are returning to a place and people that, at some point during the run of Game Of Thrones, notwithstanding season eight, we fell in love with. For better or for worse.
The Houses, the High Valyrian, the histories, the armors, the dresses, the DRAGONS! We're back people, in all of GOT's glory and (nearly) none of its dead weight! The showrunners gave us it all! The gore! The Joffrey-esque, typical Prince entitlement that breeds more gore! We were fed that medieval lawlessness that incites a chaos that leaves viewers disturbed, dreading, and desiring.
And, as we all know, chaos is a ladder. With its cast in King's Landing, House of the Dragon reminds us of that fact by referencing GOT's early seasons as a fantastical political drama. Hand of the King, Otto Hightower, is already playing this Game Of Thrones, mostly to keep Daemon Targaryen from ascending as heir to King Viserys. While he mourned the lost Queen and Heir for the Day, Hightower could see opportunity through the smoke of the funeral pyre. He sent his daughter, Alicent Hightower, to comfort the loss-ridden King Viserys; thereby planting a seed of power for him to sow later.
Lest I fail to touch on the titular Targaryens directly, let me do so now. I hate them all, but I love them too. Viserys is so wonderfully characterized as a rather buffoonish King, loyal to his family save where duty intervenes. Like every patriarch, he is blindly obsessed with lineage and blood to fault, to the point where he would so willingly spill the blood of his wife. So, I guess you could say, like any King, Viserys is loyal to his family...as long as it ensures power.
Perhaps that is why he is so quick to demote Daemon: he sees that hunger for power is far too strong in his little brother, the second born. Their bond embodies the cycle of familial betrayal for the sake of personal ambition. Viserys withholds from Daemon. Daemon feels betrayed. Daemons acts out in a way that betrays the little trust Viserys holds for him. The cycle continues...and has.
The twist in House of the Dragon is that we witness the last betrayal. Daemon, who has been set to inherit the Seven Kingdoms during decades of lost heirs, who has been living a life of a lavish Prince, is deposed as next in line. He, then, is no more different than the likes of Otto Hightower: a second-born damned to feast off of only what he can take for himself. No wonder Daemon hates Otto. He is him, even more so at the end of this first episode! This begs the question of the series: what will Daemon take to feast upon?
Rhaenyra. How wonderful it is to see another young, Targaryen woman take the literal reins. A dragonrider, stubborn, thrill-seeking, and life-loving. Though, a coming-of-age story like this is one to be weary of in my book. The treatment of Daenerys Targaryen in the later seasons of GOT was deplorable and my fear is that HOTD showrunners will treat Rhaenyra, who is so similar to her descendant, as a do-over. A character reformed, but not necessarily to fit the shape of this new story.
I say that only because I watched the After the Episode feature at the end of this first episode of House of the Dragon. The showrunners, in my opinion, have entirely misinterpreted parts of their own production. One stated that King Viserys made his choice to save his son out of duty and, while true, for Kings, for Targaryen Kings, duty is so warped by the pureness of their blood, their power, that it was hardly duty at all the drove Viserys to kill his wife. The same applies to the so-called 'love' between the brothers. Yes, Viserys loves Daemon and vice-versa, but only for the promise of power that each ensures to the other. As long as there is a Targaryen atop the Iron Throne, they will be taken care of...until that pesty cycle of betrayal comes up again...until Daemon is deposed by Rhaenyra.
However, one could argue that Viserys only acts to keep a Targaryen on the throne for the sake of the prophecy. You know, the Song of Ice and Fire. I hate this. Not in the same way I hate-love these Targaryens. I truly hate the inclusion of the Song of Ice and Fire, the prophecy of the Long Night. Sure, it was around, lingering as prophecies often do in fantasy settings. But to name it? To make it such a driving force for Rhaenyra's ascension? No.
If anything, this undermines the heart at the House of the Dragon. Instead of trusting viewers to see the connections, hear them in the old names of these new characters, instead of letting us naturally fall back in love with a world we have been without, the showrunners drew a Stark throughline. One that was unneeded and harms the true humanity that this coming-of-age story could hold. Instead of having Rhaenyra feel driven to Queenhood by duty, by learning about her kingdom and wanting to change things, to mend her family, to break the cycle (does this sound familiar?), they gave her something that places her beyond our reach: the weight of prophecy. The weight of the Targaryen lineage, the madness that we saw come from Targaryen's preoccupation with prophecy.
Tyrion said it best: "Prophecy is a half-trained mule. It looks as though it might be useful, but the moment you trust in it, it kicks you in the head." So, I fear the writers of House of the Dragon may have to brace for a strike.
That being said, I am so looking forward to where this show could go that I am more than willing to brace right alongside them.
This story is fruitful and wild and full of whimsy. And DRAGONS. Did I mention that at the top? I hope I did.
