it's the fact that aemma BEGGED viserys not to harm her while she was dying. she SCREAMED at the top of her lungs, she repeatedly said that she was scared and asked what was going on and NOBODY answered her. nobody cared about her from the moment viserys prioritized the child. they don't even tell this pregnant woman who's literaly on the verge of exhaustion that they're going to move her to open her belly !!! viserys hears her screams, her begging and holds her hand and yet not once does he pity her enough to truly care about her. and don't talk to me about the rest of the court, they don't even care to tell rhaenyra that her mother is dying. she is happy and cheering on the tourney and no one even bothers to tell her what's going on, even so that she can say goodbye to her mother. what an UGLY man.

I saw TG's comments about Viserys "deserving the humiliation of dragging himself to the throne" in episode 8 and…
Guys, seriously? Did we see the same episode 8? Was it humiliation? I know some people have the idea that Viserys is the worst evil, who brutally abused, oppressed, terrorized and made poor, innocent Alicent's life a living hell, but trying to turn everything into a "deserved punishment" for him is ridiculous. If Viserys had a scene that showed his true strength, this was it. Watch any reaction to watching this episode, even from a Burlington bar or anyone else, and you'll see that no normal viewer would perceive it as a humiliation for the characters.
It's a minutes-long scene of a sick man walking to his chair, and watching it gives me goosebumps. Because Viserys showed that he still has enough of a dragon in him to literally rise himself from the grave and go defend his decision and his right, his heiress, against the gang of hyenas and vultures that turned out to be part of his family. It amuses me that the TGs see this as a humiliation for Viserys, yet wish Aegon had the exact same scene. Only better, because he is better ;P
King Viserys of House Targaryen, the First of His Name, King of the Andals, and the Rhoynar, and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms and Protector of the Realm.

One thing (of many) I don’t understand about the writing of HOTD is that they kinda made it seem like Alicent only helped Aegon usurp the throne because of what Viserys had said on his death bed. She’s shocked when her council admits they had planned to put Aegon on the throne all this time, but the show had written moments where Alicent tells Aegon that he is the challenge to the throne by living and breathing and then on Driftmark Aemond refers to Helaena as Aegon’s future queen. Alicent and the children knew one day that Aegon would sit the throne but then suddenly this is just a spur of the moment plan?? This isn’t even a team green thing more than just inconsistent writing.
Another thing I didn’t like about the writing was the girlboss-fication of young Rhaenyra. Young Rhaenyra tells Rhaeys that she will create a new order when it comes to the gender laws of succession but when adult Rhaenyra talks to Rhaenys about engaging Baela and Jace she says that Baela’s sons will sit the throne. I think it’s obvious that Rhaenyra thinks she the exception to most rules and Viserys even scolds her about being above rules and customs. I think this is a fatal flaw in her character, which makes her a well written character but can also make some people dislike her. But that line about creating a new order was purely a girlboss moment and inconsistent writing.

While I'm here casting everyone and their mothers. The fact that they had Eve, Steve, Sian, and Paddy playing their characters in their 20's. The youngest of that group was in their early 40's. Playing late to early twenties
So here we are:
Aemma Arryn
Sian Brooke and Hannah Rae
Rhaenys Targaryen:
Eve Best and Dakota Blue Richards
Corlys Velayron
Steve Toussaint and Sope Dirisu
Viserys Targaryen:
Paddy Considine and Harris Dickinson

Viserys did not rape Allicent. And neither Viserys nor Daemon are groomers. Can people learn the meaning of words for crying out loud? How many times must this be debunked?!
Yes. It seems that today people are content to use big words without knowing their definition, all in the belief that it will make them appear more intelligent and morally superior. I'm particularly tired of hearing the accusation of Daemon being a groomer thrown around over and over.

I sometimes like to fantasize about how much Corlys Velaryon would have fucked shit up if Alicent had actually managed to injure Luke in 1x07.
That man had a fleet, access to two full grown dragons with battle experience, money to burn and a pre-existing grudge against Viserys and the Hightowers. He wanted that smoke since the Great Council. And he clearly loved Luke.
It would have gotten very messy, very quickly.
