The new Contrapoints video is like... one of those pieces of art where you see too much of yourself reflected.
#Instead of being as straight-forward about trying to 'teach' something this felt like a more artistically-motivated piece IMO#There is something so uniquely difficult about trying to argue that one piece of your identity (queerness) is divorced from the parts of#you that grew out of trauma (substance abuse; emotional abuse; etc).#And it hurts because they are many who would#Politically weaponize that hurt in you because the pitiable and the unhappy are not the people#you advertise as being part of your persecuted community#The juxtaposition between how unflappable Justine is during the Socratic dialogue segment and the#scene where the Justine character is receiving a message from her transphobic family and ruminating on how much in pain she is from her ex-#partner breaking her heart -- and that's when you see the cynic in her crack and reveal this immenseness of shame at her suffering because#*God* what if *me* simply existing and revealing how broken I kinda am is bad optics for [insert social cause] lol#It truly took my breath away -- still sorting my thoughts out but holy shit was that one of the closest depictions to my experiences I've#seen lol#She certainly stays true to her tendency to be provocative at the detriment to the strength of her argument (and her tendency to lose the#plot of the discourse in the weeds of aesthetics) but it was fascinating from the standpoint of being a lesbian who comes from a family#that has struggled with (and has experiences dealing with) substance abuse while also trying to make tiny strides for progress in my town#The evangelical homophobia depicted in the narrative of the skit was also fascinating as it's one of the few times I've seen art nail the#specific tone (aesthetics?) of that strain of anti-queerness -- especially when the character reveals she is a recloseted lesbian#substance abuse cw#homophobia cw#transphobia cw#(for the video)#religion mention cw#all those CWs are for the video itself -- it gets extremely into the weeds so if any of those sound slightly triggering AVOID this video#She's one of those artists with whom I certainly disagree frequently but I also will say I am always struck by the work she creates and the#depth of thought underpinning these videos#The addiction parts were specifically so so so good#I mean holy shit

You Said Forever- Preview (n.yt)
Tumblr media
IT’S ANGST TIME!
Full fic has been posted!! click here to read!
Pairing: Nakamoto Yuta x female Reader (y/n)
Summary: It’s been six years being with Yuta. Things were great until you noticed him changing. He’s become distant and broody, nothing like the man you’ve fallen in love with. Jaehyun tends to comfort you while Yuta tries to ignore the fallen pieces of what used to be love.
Length: preview: ~800 words | actual fic length: 5k words
Tags/Warnings: PAIN!! (seriously this hurt while writing it), non idol universe, college au, angst, TOXIC relationship, slow burn, Yuta is a dick, spiraling out of control, heavy emphasis on substance abuse (alcohol, weed, cigarettes), sexual situations under the influence, more to come as more is written.
Note: unedited! going through beta testing!! lowkey wrote this while struggling with trying to quit vaping. heavily based on some of my experiences as well as a few other friends who have been going through tough times/ breakups in their respective relationships. Feedback is welcome, but please be kind considering it is based on others’ very real experiences!
again! this fic is ALSO going through beta testing currently, i do have a habit of being in the zone while writing in the wee hours of the morning while everyone is asleep haha hopefully to be posted within two days!
“Yuta, please,” you whined trying to move from under him to attempt to spark some friction between your warm bodies.
“Just stay fucking still, damn,” he muttered while trying to shove a condom onto himself. You start getting annoyed due to impatience.
“You’ve done this like what? Nothing short of a thousand times why can’t you get it on now?” you rolled your eyes.
“Just shut up, for the love of God, please shut the hell up,” he punches the space on the bed next to your face, not even looking up at you.
“What is your deal?” you yell pushing him off of you and rolling the blanket up to cover your naked body from his wavering eyes. He was breathing heavily, eyes closed while his fists balled, shaking in anger.
“You know what, I don’t want to do this right now. I’m not in the mood,” he stands up looking for his boxers. You scoffed.
“That’s not what you said about five minutes ago bursting into the room demanding that I take my pants off? Need I remind you that YOU started this?”
Maybe it was the sexual frustration. Maybe it was him not listening to you. Maybe it’s the pent up sexual frustration from months of Yuta not listening or caring about you. It’s not hard to notice how inattentive he’s been lately. He’s constantly bouncing a leg and looking up at a clock to see what time it is when you are with him. The constant secrecy when it came to leaving or checking his phone. The ambushed accusations when you question his actions.
As much as it pained you to say it, this wasn’t the man you fell in love with.
“I just don’t feel in the mood anymore God damn is that such a crime?” He continues looking for his clothes from the floor, refusing to look at your sad eyes.
“You’ve never not been in the mood for me,” you quietly whisper.
“Well maybe you should get off your high horse and remember that my sex drive doesn’t revolve around you,” he finally meets your eyes as he stands before you fully clothed, “I’m going out. I need some air.” You find yourself unable to move from your spot in bed. The empty feeling of the bed, rather the whole apartment was jarring. You don’t know when this exactly started. Maybe eight months ago? It was around June, after you came back from his best friend’s destination wedding in the Bahamas. The trip was great, it was the time you really started planning out and envisioning your future with Yuta.
You saw an end goal with Yuta. You wanted the grand wedding, the drama from unveiling who out of your friend group would be your bridesmaids, the wedding cake testing, picking out centerpieces for all the tables, deciding where you both should honeymoon.
But you also wanted kids- four to be exact. You want the white picket fence, a family dog, and be the PTA president for your kids’ school. You wanted to grow old together, you wanted to be endlessly in love, forever.
“Do you want to do this one day?” Yuta asked while sitting next to you on the beach. He had one arm around you and the other swirling a bottle of beer taking a sip every now and then.
“Go to the beach? Hell yeah everyday,” you shoot him a gummy drunk smile up at him.
“No silly, I mean like having a big wedding,” he stares off into the sunset.
The wedding reception was still in full swing behind you two. You can hear Johnny’s baritone voice booming over everyone and the speakers yelling the lyrics of a kpop song. You look back for a moment to catch his newlywed wife dancing with her heels in hand and tripping over the train of her dress. Chuckling softly at the sight, you’re exhausted just watching them. It’s a good thing you both decided to take a break from dancing- and the open bar- to sit in the sand.
“Of course who doesn’t,” Yuta looks at you longingly as you continue, “But honestly I don’t really care how grand we celebrate our love,” you look back up at him, “I just want to be with you forever.”
“I’ll always love you, forever,” his eyes flickering down to your lips before meeting yours, “I want forever with you.”
“Really?”
“Forever y/n,” you push him lightly as he continues to admire you, “I’m dead serious. There’s nothing,” he pushed a stray hair away from your face, “nothing, that will ever become between us. You’re stuck with me forever.”
Tears prick your eyes threatening to fall.
What had you done to make him feel that repulsed by you?

Soo!! I just rewatched wtit, youknow, as one does, and founf this in the description- i haven't really seen a lot of us talk about this but I feel like there's a LOT going on here
Tumblr media
What do you think? Any thoughts king?
HII THANK YOU FOR THIS ASK!
i wasn't aware that the episode HAD a description before you sent me this, so genuinely, thank you for bringing this into my attention!
and you're right— there ARE some things going around in this desc.
the first one would be the fact that thomas ASKED logan to get his life in order. orb (@/orbmanson7, go follow them too for more meta) shed some light to me about how this fact mostly goes unnoticed within the fandom (even me!). to be fair, it was brushed aside really quickly in the opening, but yes, it is canon that thomas asked logan for help.
orb also informed me how, in an exclusive writer's room discussion with joan, joan mentioned that thomas particularly asked logan to get his life in order. and well, it's a little surprising, isn't it, that thomas would willingly ask logan for help? but it's also not, considering that thomas has been very open with logan's contributions... if and only if he deems them useful.
bottomline for this fact is, thomas only views logan as a utility. what's sad is, i think logan views this more as an opportunity to participate, rather than something backhanded. the end of WTIT shows him insisting that instilling this schedule would be beneficial for thomas. but deep down, we also know that he just feels ignored, because thomas wants logic as a function, not logan as a person.
and now the more interesting aspect of this description would be its last sentences. now, before i get into it, i want to make it clear: the contents of intrusive thoughts has no real substance. most of the time, they prey on our insecurities in order to make us anxious.
but intrusive thoughts may vary in terms of how personal they are. they can be something merely gruesome, but they can also become more specific if you are fixating on a certain situation. in cases like these, the intrusive thoughts STILL have no substance, but they are grounded in the idea that, there is something that is affecting you and you should probably get that checked out.
again, i am NOT saying intrusive thoughts is important. i have heavy compulsions which worsen my intrusive thoughts, and i would rather get rid of it. but the existence of persistent intrusive thoughts can be a warning that, you have some unresolved shit. and in these cases, you can't just stop relying on paying it no mind— you NEED to address the core issue that your intrusive thoughts reap on, or find therapy or a good friend so you can better deal with it.
and, while harsh, the importance of remus as a side is that he serves as an alarm bell or wake-up call for thomas. his methods are incredibly dark, as he uses intrusive thoughts, there's no buts i can provide for that. with how heavily the sides miscommunicate, remus relies on darker methods to make thomas less passive in his struggles, because my god is he struggling. you can read more about this from this post i found a few days ago.
so in a way, remus' contributions are not just Random LOL XD intrusive thoughts he feels thomas should experience. while there is no substance to his threats, i think what remus is trying to prove by using them is that thomas is extremely vulnerable and needs help.
another is, while the threats are empty, we have to acknowledge that the insecurities remus calls attention to are very much real. he does not make thomas' insecurities, just provokes them. another post i saw a few days ago mentions how remus is the beholder of forbidden knowledge. that's why remus is very in tune with not only the insecurities of thomas, but the insecurities of the other sides as well (i made a post talking about this!).
and well, remus isn't necessarily just abusing the fact that he knows what makes the others insecure. his importance, actually, is that he makes this "forbidden knowledge" come to light for others to acknowledge, whether they like it or not. that is remus' purpose, not as intrusive thoughts since i don't wanna give that shit any ounce of a compliment, but as his own side who cares for thomas in his own way. either that, or janus uses him as a tool to deploy his own scheme for thomas to acknowledge his mental health issues.
TLDR; WTIT proves thomas views logan as a convenient utility. another, while intrusive thoughts have no substance, in WTIT, remus specifically deploys them so thomas can acknolwedge his own insecurities about nico. it's harsh, but remus' purpose as a side is to shed light on topics that the sides would usually consider taboo, with taboos usually encompassing suppressed insecurities and concerns.

My review of Juice Wrld's Rich and Blind.
Juice Wrld was and still is a really important artist to me, in that, he, like I do, had so much potential. However, he suffered from severe depression from a young age, which as much as it didn't impair his skills, meant that I only got to experiencing his craft for a few years. When he died in 2019, a year which was beyond disastrous to me, I had just begun to fall in love with his work. I'll never forget the day I watched Spider-man Into The Spider-Verse on the day he passed. "Hide" featuring Seezyn came on in the movie, and it just broke me. "Rich and Blind' is a song in which Jarad speaks about the internal conflict of having plenty in material possessions and the like, but simultaneously feeling a void from within, and not knowing why it's the case, when there are seemingly plenty of reasons to be happy. The first half of the song contains some really nihilistic lyrics,: "I know they lace pills, I bought them on purpose", a truly melancholic and borderline suicidal admittance of not holding one's life in decent regard anymore, as a coping mechanism from the discomfort. A lot of people have said, and rightfully so if I may add, that Juice Wrld's music, particularly those recorded near his death became a little monotonous in that they all revolved around substance abuse, depression and the difficulty of living with this reality. But honestly, I feel like that was probably the best depiction of living with this cloud of your head - after a few weeks, months or even years you begin to stop feeling shitty about feeling shitty. "I know I have a purpose, but I dont't see the purpose" is another scathing reflection on this lack of direction, and the sheer vulnerability that arises from knowing that even though you know you're here for something, you just can't find that drive, and the line along with a few others is delivered with such a casual cadence, again, emphasising this nihilistic view of life, or just not caring anymore.
However, this song has probably one of the best examples that of Jarad's ability to contrast pessimism with optimism in the space of a few verses, while also somehow seeing a light at the end of the tunnel, even when you're sure the light is merely a flashlight. One of my favourite lyrics from the song "This is dedicated to you if you felt the lowest of the low, I know how it feels, you don't wanna struggle anymore", and "Keep my eyes in the sky, 'cause that's where I'm moving", where his way of trying to motivating his fanbase who may have had similar experiences he's had, by letting them know that it gets better, even if it doesn't seem that way. It's hard for me to get out of bed, let alone find the energy to write this review, but I felt I had to at least get this done, because depression is like a malignant tumor; it just gives you the impression that nothing matters, even when that isn't the case, which can unfortunately deprive the world the light you have within. Even I find myself dealing with the existential crisis of knowing what I can bring to the world. People always tell me that they see great things in me, but I have to be honest, sometimes I struggle to see that myself. However, the reason I share this is because even if just one person reads this, someone who maybe has similar issues they're facing, maybe they can be reassured to keep moving forward, even when they don't feel like it. Regardless, always find a way to bring positivity in the world. Yes, life is really gross, you may have a voice or six that want you to cross the road without looking both ways, and we'll all have our hurdles, some that may as well be chronic, if not terminal. But what you can control is the output you put into the world. Jarad probably won't get to hear or see this, but regardless of his struggles he managed to inspire a generation that feels hopeless and scared of the future, and his legacy will live forever, or at least for as long as I'm alive.
I guess that's the point of this first review, in that, it's more about the power and importance music has in my life. Some days I'll feel bad, and like I hate myself, but regardless of that, I can at least try to make the lives of those around me a little less shitty, even if it's just as a cheerleader. This December will mark 4 years since he passed, and even though it still hurts a bit, his work helped me in ways I cannot contain in a few paragraphs, and I feel that deserves to be cherished not mourned. Out of 10, I'd give it a 7.5 - it's not the most groundbreaking song ever, but there are a few instances where that can take the backseat, seeing that the gravity of the subject matter is more important. It's a tough listen, but honestly, I feel like it's the best way to actually come to terms with the internal conflict someone in such circumstances wrestles with each day. I plan on using this platform as a means of spurring you on wherever in the world you are, because yes, it gets better, but you have to at least try, and I guess that just be my way of giving myself a reason to get out of bed each morning.

In this blog post, we will take you on a journey to the best psychologist in Indore – a city that holds the key to discovering effective treatment for your depression. Get ready to break free from the weight holding you down and embark on a life-changing path towards healing and happiness.
What is Depression?
Depression is a serious medical condition that negatively affects how you feel, the way you think, and how you act. It can lead to a variety of emotional and physical problems and can decrease your ability to function at work or home. Depression is not a weakness, nor is it something that you can simply "snap out" of. It is a real illness that requires understanding and medical care.
There are different types of depression, each with its own set of symptoms. Major depressive disorder, or MDD, is the most common type of depression. People with MDD experience severe symptoms that interfere with their ability to work, sleep, eat, and enjoy activities they once found pleasurable. Other types of depression include dysthymia (a less severe but chronic form of depression), seasonal affective disorder (SAD), postpartum depression (PPD), and bipolar disorder (BD).
While the cause of depression is unknown, it is believed to be caused by a combination of genetic, biological, environmental, and psychological factors. Treatment for depression typically includes medication, therapy, or a combination of the two. In severe cases, hospitalization may be necessary. If you are experiencing any symptoms of depression, please see your depression doctor for an evaluation.
Causes of Depression
Depression is a complex mental health disorder with a variety of potential causes. While there is no single cause of depression, there are several risk factors that can contribute to its development. These include genetic vulnerabilities, early childhood trauma or abuse, certain medical conditions, and substance abuse.
In many cases, it is a combination of these factors that leads to the onset of depression. For example, someone who has a family history of depression may be more likely to experience the condition themselves if they are also dealing with chronic stressors or trauma.
Identifying the specific causes of depression can be difficult, but it is important to seek professional help if you are struggling with this condition. Treatment for depression can be very effective, but it is important to find a provider who specializes in this area to get the most benefit from therapy.

The difference between drug addiction and drug abuse is the easiest way of defining drug abuse and obsessing, that one person uses drugs. The addiction is hereditary. There's plenty of evidence in connection between genetic endowment and addiction to alcohol and drugs by analyzing patterns of inheritance. The withdrawal question. How long does it last?
Use of systems that are curved use of some addict, addictive, drugs to reduce for be stopped going through withdrawal and Simpsons very for the type of drug. For example, physical symptoms of heroin withdrawal. May include restlessness muscle, and bone pain insomnia, diarrhea, vomiting cold flashes, physical symptoms, May last for several days with the general depression of dysphoria. It always so... ugh I don't know just ugh.
Just, the LGBTQIA community REALLY needs to work on not being Biphobic for like... 5 seconds at the very least. Just... it's soooo normalized, even bi people who have internalized biphobia partake because they like licking boots of biphobics, I guess.
It's just interesting too to realize how MANY of these assholes don't actually know any actual bi people or our actual struggles and just make shit up to be mad at bi people for. Like, for example these non-bi people were going on & on about how this bi person explaining their experiences sounded like x biracial person/that bi people "stole" biracial peoples fav talking point (specifically white biracial people), etc and just... 1st of all... y'all REALLY don't know anything about Bi-ness, bi people etc because THIS ISNT A NEW TALKING POINT, we've have BEEN talking about this sort of phenomena (we don't feel like we belong in either straight or gay communities) for a VERY VERY LONG TIME. It's not our fault you don't bother having bi people around in your life &/or just educating yourself on our history, texts, & issues. 2nd you can't compare these two things many people known this and some people have learned this more recently but regardless why is it in this instance okay to bring up? Once a bi person annoys you it's okay to make comparisons that don't make sense/problematic?
Not to mention how insidious it is to do so because this makes us seem like we have privilege in anyway that has to do with our sexuality and regardless of your personal opinions on the matter WE don't. "Well what about straight bi's/bi people dating cisheteroallo people?" Well, for one thing while I will admit there probably are a FEW Bi people who get benefits from this sort of relationship it's not JUST because of the relationship but also other factors of how they go about things (& no this is not in regards to closeted bi people) this also isn't exactly a unique phenomena with bi people either (such as cis gays/lesbians who are/were trying to assimilate with allocishetero society) HOWEVER for many Bi people being with a partner that's allocishetero isn't really all that privileged when you realize specifically Bi woman (idk the stats for gay/bi men) are more likely to suffer from IPV compared to either straight or gay woman. And, well, you know how Gays/Lesbians tend to have high rates of x compared to straight people like health issues, for example? Yeah well, the rates for us tend to be even higher compared to either straight or gay people and that's just focusing on cis individuals imagine how worse it gets for trans bi people.
So, yeah, regardless of who we are in a relationship with that doesn't really change the fact that we still struggle with higher rates or health issues, homelessness, sexual assault, substance abuse problems, domestic abuse, and whatever else AND despite us being the biggest community get hardly any funding or resources compared to the LG communities. Sure, MAYBE we don't deal with as much harassment if we are out in public with our seemingly cishetero partner but again this is a much more complicated and nuanced discussion then people are willing to acknowledge considering that the abuse and problems we face tends to get erased and labeled as just homophobia or something. I actually tried to do some quick research too & didn't find much but one article from the UK talking about hate crimes and how the stats weren't all that much diff from each sexuality with 77% gay men & woman participants experiencing a hate crime & 75% bisexual people but this stat actually goes UP when you account for gender (79% for bi woman participants). It also mentions how Bi & Trans people are less likely to report incidents to the police so I can only imagine these numbers are even higher (btw it's 79% for trans participants).
One thing that would REALLY help is if LG people would just... ACKNOWLEDGE this shit, just acknowledge we actually do have struggles and are oppressed just like any other queer identity and us having to deal with our own community not helping & even just flat out hurting us only makes our problems worse. That isn't me calling y'all oppressors though because y'all aren't, BUT I will call y'all oppressor wannabes because why else would you treat us like shit for just existing?
*not entirely sure where to put this above so sticking it down here but yeah the big difference between white biracial people and bisexuality is that bisexuals don't have privilege just for being Bi. White biracial people have privilege due to proximity to whiteness & (usually) colorism something that is visible from the outside. Bisexuality, however, is not some offshoot of straightness and is not actually connected to being straight in anyway (and also sexuality is not really visible just by looking at someone) and even if it WAS we aren't afford any "privilege" because in our allocishetero society any sort of queer attraction is a deviation from what it considers the norm, if you DONT just like the "opposite sex" your not seen as normal. Straight people don't see us as straight (sometimes certain dynamics do cause this like bi woman not being taken seriously & are just "doing it for attention" but that's specifically a mix of misogyny & biphobia NOT straight privilege) and while most of us bisexuals don't give a shit what they think the problem though is that gay people see US as straight people! Because regardless of our queer attractions so long as we don't conform to what they have made being homosexuality all about we don't get to be included. We have to play along with them and join in on the Biphobic jokes and give in to their binaries in order to be included and if not we get cast aside as troublesome. Some of them think we choose or can choose to be in a "straight relationship" when we are done being homosexual but it's so funny in a sad way they end up repeating what conservatives & bigots have said to them, that their sexuality is a choice. No, the Bi person you got dumped for isnt going into a "straight passing relationship" because they were straight to begin with they just happened to start dating someone who was cis & straight & allo afterwords (which isn't farfetched considering you known... the population of cis straight allo people is kind of high). Not to mention this topic gets really tricky/messy when you realize a lot of LG people label anyone who looks straight on the outside as a bi x straight person couple/straight relationship when in reality it could easily be any number of combinations of queer individuals together especially when you take trans people into account and how this sort of rhetoric negatively effects them as well.

Addiction and Depression
It’s no surprise that someone who is struggling with a substance use disorder, such as addiction or depression, is also likely to have other mental health concerns. Research has shown that having one problem often leads to another. These two conditions often go hand in hand and can frequently be found in the same individual. However, many people aren’t aware of this connection until it’s too late. The effects of addiction can wreak havoc on the brain and wreak havoc on relationships with other people. This is because an addiction to a substance or a compulsive behavior leads to changes in the frontal cortex of the brain which controls impulsivity and inhibitory control. The frontal cortex is responsible for making decisions, planning and inhibiting impulsive behavior. When an individual is struggling with addiction, they may have difficulty thinking rationally as well as making good decisions that are in their own best interests. Therefore, they may be less likely to consider the consequences of their actions when using substances or engaging in compulsive behaviors that are destructive to themselves or others around them. Furthermore, these individuals are more likely to isolate themselves from others due to fears of rejection and returning to drug use if they’re rejected by their friends and family members again.
How Depression Can Trigger Addiction
While it’s common for an individual struggling with both depression and addiction to have these issues cross-wired in their brain, depression can trigger an addiction to substances. There are many reasons for this. The condition depression causes changes in the brain that make an individual more susceptible to substance abuse. Depression can also cause individuals to experience cravings for substances that they may not have experienced before. This can include cravings for foods high in sugars, salt or fats as well as cravings for mood-altering substances such as alcohol or prescription drugs. Some people who are struggling with depression may begin using substances as a coping mechanism. Easy access to substances such as alcohol or drugs in someone’s environment can lead to an increased risk of depression and substance abuse.
The Triggers of Depression in Addicts
As mentioned above, depression has the potential to make an individual more susceptible to substance abuse. Individuals who have a history of depression are also at an increased risk for developing an anxiety disorder. These individuals are more likely to experience anxiety-causing triggers that cause cravings for substances. A trigger could be something as simple as feeling agitated or stressed by an event in one’s life. A person who has experienced depression in the past may have become accustomed to feeling this way when they experienced a loss or failure. When faced with a similar situation again, a person who has depression may experience a sudden and intense desire to use a mood-altering substance to deal with their feelings of stress and loss.
How to Help Someone Who is Depressed and Struggling with Addiction
The best way to help someone who is struggling with depression and also addicted to substances is to first get an understanding of the relationship between the two conditions. You must understand that someone who is depressed and also struggling with addiction is dealing with two distinct issues. Rather than trying to treat them as a single whole, you must understand that they are two separate mental health concerns that can often be provided with mutually beneficial treatment approaches. Once you’ve gained a better understanding of the relationship between the two conditions, you can begin to help your loved one by offering the following suggestions: Be patient - You may find that the person you’re trying to help doesn’t immediately understand why they should be more patient. In this case, you may need to explain the importance of patience to them in an indirect way. For example, you could explain that your loved one is dealing with two issues and how the two issues often work in tandem. You could also explain that these two issues affect their mental health and decision-making skills. This may help your loved one understand the reason behind your request to be more patient. Be understanding of their cravings - When a loved one who is struggling with depression experiences a craving for a mood-altering substance, you should be understanding but also firm in your requests for them not to pursue the urge. You may need to have a discussion with your loved one about the potential risks involved with substance abuse for someone who is depressed. Furthermore, the person you’re trying to help may not be able to make good decisions when they are experiencing a mood-altering substance craving. This means that they may put themselves or others at risk. You should be firm but also understanding when you provide a loved one with advice against substance abuse. Be patient with your loved one - You should be patient with your loved one as they work to overcome their depression as well as the relationship between depression and substance abuse. Furthermore, you may find that your loved one doesn’t understand why they should be more patient. You may need to help your loved one understand where they are in their mental health recovery process. You may want to explain that they may feel overwhelmed by challenging feelings and situations in their life. This may include feelings of inadequacy and the inability to make good decisions when they are experiencing a craving for a mood-altering substance.
Understanding the Connection Between Depression and Addiction
The relationship between depression and addiction is a complex one that can often be confusing for both loved ones and healthcare providers. There are many instances where an individual who is struggling with both depression and addiction has experienced a triggering event that caused them to use a mood-altering substance. This could include experiencing a loss or a failure in their life. Furthermore, a person who is struggling with both depression and addiction may have experienced a period in their life when they were exposed to mood-altering substances such as alcohol or drugs. The person may have been young when this happened, and they may have been more susceptible to developing an addiction. If you’ve watched someone you love struggle with depression and addiction, you may have noticed that they experience many of the same triggers and cravings as other people who are struggling with depression. However, they may also experience some triggers that other people do not. For example, you may have noticed that someone who is struggling with both depression and addiction experiences cravings for food high in salt, sugar or fat. This could suggest that they have an addiction to something other than drugs or alcohol.
Finding Treatment for Both Conditions
If you’ve watched someone you love struggle with depression and addiction, you may have noticed that they experience many of the same triggers and cravings as other people who are struggling with depression. However, they may also experience some triggers that other people do not. Therefore, you must pay close attention to a loved one who is struggling with depression and addiction. You may want to consider seeking help from a mental health professional who can help you understand the relationship between depression and substance abuse as well as help direct you towards treatment for both conditions. In addition, you may want to consider seeking help from a substance use disorder treatment center that provides both inpatient and outpatient treatment options. This way, you’ll be able to transition seamlessly between treatment options depending on how well you're doing during one type of treatment.
Conclusion
According to a recent report, 1 in 5 adults has a depressive disorder. That’s nearly 90 million people in the United States alone. Depression is a serious problem that deserves attention, treatment, and support. Fortunately, there are many ways to get help. These include talking to a trusted friend, family member, or healthcare provider; joining a support group; or seeking treatment at a substance use disorder treatment center. best rehabilitation centre in Delhi Rehab Centres in India

Health benefits of Natural sugar replacement - ALLULOSE
Tumblr media
We mentioned how Allulose is a great substitute for sugar in our previous blog. This natural sweetener when used moderately helps you rid away sugar to a large extent from your diet. So, if you’ve been training your mind to stay away from sugary sweets, allulose will support your eating habits.
Our obsession with sugar
Why is sugar still being consumed when it does more harm than good for your health?
Many people say they can’t help themselves, but is that really true when it comes to that sugar high? Studies suggest that when you are addicted to sugar, it’s often hard to resist. However, many people consume large amounts of this sweet poison to combat boredom, only to become hyper and later crash. The addiction to sugar can also lead one to crave for it while experiencing stressful or irritable episodes.
This kind of addiction is also linked to binge eating, which means eating a lot at a rapid pace. This is followed by feelings of disgust, shame and guilt. This form of binge eating includes focusing on sweets, while using it as a crutch to deal with deeper conflicting emotions.
When it comes to anxiety, people tend to experience loss of appetite. However, those who are sugar-addicted, they are likely to sprint across the room to grab that cookie jar or those sugar-coated Twizzlers. They may experience a temporary sense of control over their anxiety, but eventually move on to feeling the same anxiety they felt before. Weight gain is another major after effect of this form of addiction.
Beating sugar addiction requires medical attention among its respective fields. Modifying one’s diet and adopting self-control can help, while instant sugar quitting isn’t ideal. People with a sugar addiction, especially in addition to another substance abuse disorder are likely to experience severe cravings. In extreme cases, a therapist may be required to help deal with the addiction.
That said, if you are trying to beat a regular sugar temptation, then allulose may offer you more than just a habit-kicker. It has some great health benefits that you cannot ignore if you decide to begin self-care.
How does allulose work in the body?
Allulose is a monosaccharide that is already present in its simplest form, which means that it doesn’t need further breaking down in the body. This natural alternative to sugar is present in fruits like figs and raisins. Unlike sugar, allulose does not require amylase or any other carbohydrate-breaking enzymes.
The bloodstream consumes around 70-80% of allulose, while the rest leaves the body via the GI tract.
In this blog, we’ll take you through the reasons why allulose is good for you. You will understand in a more comprehensible manner the health benefits of allulose
The best health benefits of Allulose
You may be wondering what Allulose can do that makes it a great substitute for regular sugar.
Let’s find out how allulose can help.
·        Visceral or belly Fat
Visceral fat is commonly known as belly fat. It is excess weight significantly linked with chronic diseases. Animal studies show that fat loss is the outcome of replacing sugar and other sweeteners with allulose. Allulose has a positive impact on blood sugar regulation, which influences weight and body fat.
Looking to lose excess body weight? Call our professional medical weight loss doctor online. Book your appointment to check your eligibility for the FDA-approved drug Phentermine. To know more how this drug can help you, read about the Doctor-Prescribed Weight Loss & Diet Pills.
·        Blood Glucose Levels
Allulose does not have any detrimental impact on blood sugar levels. In addition, it helps improve insulin sensitivity and prevents type 2 diabetes. If you’ve been struggling with controlling your blood sugar levels, use allulose to support your efforts. Although, we do recommend that you consult your doctor before using this natural sweetener.
·        Fatty Liver Disease
Fatty liver disease may be attributed to a complication linked to insulin resistance and diabetes because it shares many of the same root causes. As animal studies suggest, allulose sweeteners may benefit cases of fatty liver disease.
Who can and cannot use Allulose sugar?
Cutting back on sugars requires some extra effort. Why not make it worth every step towards a sugar-free life. Allulose can be added to baked goods, your favourite beverage, or even to frozen desserts. That said, people on keto diets can also use allulose since it has very few calories compared to sugar.
People who shouldn’t consume allulose are those allergic to the contents in alternative sweeteners.
At the outset, we recommend that if you aren’t allergic and want to consume allulose to contribute to your weight loss journey, you may do so. Remember not to consume too much of it, and to have it moderately and wisely.

Legend malnutrition theory you say? 👀 👀
Indeedy I do!
Okay, so, at this point I think everyone knows, but for clarity I'm going to cover it anyways.
Early on, during his first adventure, our lovely veteran rescued the Princess from a cell where the villain had locked her away so he could sacrifice her in a ritual later. Link (Legend) came in through the sewers and snuck her out, but unfortunately Aganim (the villain) got wind of it, and sent the castle guards after him, telling them that he had kidnapped the Princess of Hyrule. Before you know it, Legend's face was plastered on every wanted poster throughout Hyrule and any time he entered a town there were guards and villagers chasing after him to capture him and hand him over to Aganim.
Naturally, Legend is a smart cookie and put two and two together and learned to avoid towns. Unfortunately, towns are where all the food is, and if he can't go near communities without being seen, he can't get at food without being chased away.
To make it worse; as a child, roughly between eight and twelve years of age, it's not likely Legend would have known much about wilderness survival. He was a farmer kid like Twilight, he was raised learning how to care for plants and animals, not how to make sure he wasn't poisoning himself. So it would follow that when he was stranded, unable to contact society for help (save a precious few people who weren't trying to get him killed) then he would have had multiple incidents with trying to eat things that were actually Really Bad for him. This would of course result in a lot of wariness about food, which would only be made worse if anyone else offered him things to eat, only for things to be poisoned or drugged in order to help capture him.
Combine wariness of food with the inability to find safe food, and you get a kid who's essentially getting starved out there while trying to save the kingdom.
Now of course, as Legend got older, he learned more about survival and how to find things that were safe to eat.
His timeline is called the Downfall Timeline for a reason though. His world wouldn't be as lush and prosperous as the worlds before him, and finding nutritious food that was safe to eat would have been quite the problem when traveling through the desert, up mountains, and through the dark-world. Add in that he ended up traveling to foreign countries A LOT; places that wouldn't have the same plants and dangers, but new ones and sometimes worse ones, and the problem just makes itself worse.
As a result, I'm pretty sure Legend has some sort of eating problems, definitely some food anxiety, likely a lot of mistrust about who he will take food from, and (perhaps most horrifying to the Chain) is in the same camp as Wild and Hyrule where he will eat almost anything, tree bark, bokoblin meat and dubious dishes included, because you have to do what you have to do to survive.
Now what are the results of all of this? Well! Ketto actually did some research for once and according to the Backpack Buddies Foundation (a foundation focused on helping abate child-hunger) people who deal with malnutrition have to struggle with increased anxiety and decreased immunity which heightens the chance of chronic diseases setting in.
Let's make that worse though:
"In children, starvation can cause even greater troubles. It is often accompanied by stunted growth and cognitive impairments. The issue of a weakened immune system is exacerbated at this age and hungry kids may experience long periods of illness. Children with nutritional deficiencies also appear to be prone to depression and subsequent unhealthy coping mechanisms, which might go as far as eating disorders, substance abuse, or self-harm."
So, in short, as a malnourished child, Legend is likely to struggle with depression, is at a high risk for any and all illnesses ever, is short, and likely has low muscle mass as well as some cognitive functioning problems.
(As a note, hoarding is recognized as a coping mechanism, just sayin)
So yeah, while we see no proof in canon that this is an issue, other than Legend's lack of height, we do see some of the results in the way he acts, and could see more in fics if we so chose >:)
(I've actually been trying to write a fic on this pretense, but life caught up to me and I haven't been able to get back to it for a couple of months)
So....yeah!
If y'all would like more theories from me, please just ask! I'm always happy to provide (and it takes minimal amounts of time, unlike fic writing and drawing)

PTSD or C-PTSD?
Hopefully, you’re not one of the muns out there who has slapped a “PTSD” label on your muse(s) for drama only. You are, instead, treating this topic with respect and the realism that comes with that, not only having it accurately impact your muse when it’s convenient and “fun” for you. Well, that respect and realism includes actually knowing and applying the correct diagnosis and symptoms as well.
In your defense, if you have misdiagnosed your muse, common terminology in media and even among trauma sufferers is often just the blanket-statement of PTSD. Also, as the abbreviations imply, they do have things in common.
To help, I’m going to break down their differences and similarities, then provide some research links including personal accounts to help you get started.
PTSD
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder most often comes from a single traumatic event.
What can be a traumatic event can differ widely, and reasonably so; we’re not all the same person, processing events and emotions the same way, or with the same formative life experiences. What might cause PTSD to develop in one person might be processed by another as a frightening or painful incident, but not one that has left them with PTSD. The symptoms, individual, and incident have to all be taken into account.
That being said, some examples would include:
having a severe accident
being mugged or in a store that is robbed
physical or sexual assault
being involved in a shooting, in any way
death of a loved one
an unexpected explosion or sudden, natural event like a mudslide or tornado
a severe natural or man-made disaster (building collapse, mass flooding)
events outside of oneself like witnessing a violent assault, murder, deadly car accidents, terminal illness or injury
Again, it is important to remember that individuals react in individual ways, and as such, their symptoms can express with some variation. Don’t just mimic the same presentations you’ve seen in media, research a variety of real experiences.
However they manifest, key symptoms of PTSD include:
Re experiencing the event by way of nightmares, flashbacks, and repetitive, intrusive, and intensely upsetting images, thoughts, and sensations. This is the most common symptom of PTSD, in which the person involuntarily and vividly relives the trauma.
Avoidance and emotional numbing, going to extremes to avoid not just potential triggers, but also finding any way possible to push memories of the event out of their minds. When the latter occurs and is extreme, the person is trying to feel nothing at all, seeking a path to emotional numbness. That can include substance use and abuse, self-harming, and other harmful behaviors.
Feeling on edge (”Hyperarousal”) is the ultimate inability to relax, constantly looking for threats, perceiving threats that are not to be found, and being easily startled. Some of the common issues with being locked into this state include difficulty sleeping or even insomnia, severe irritability and irrational seeming aggression, angry or aggressive outbursts, and finding concentration difficult to impossible.
Some other things that might develop with PTSD are:
Other mental health concerns like anxiety, depression, and/or phobias
as said above, harmful behaviors like self-harming and substance abuse
physical symptoms like headaches, stomach and digestive upsets, dizziness, and generalized pain
Like all disorders, PTSD is complex. I, again, implore you to research not only information put out by psychiatric professionals but also the experiences of real people.
C-PTSD
Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder occurs when a person experiences repeated, consistent trauma, especially at an early age.
That doesn’t mean that adults cannot and do not develop C-PTSD, they do, and for a variety of reasons; adult sufferers have the same points of origin in the diagnosis as children do. Additionally, it may take years for someone to seek help, feel their symptoms are severe enough to need to, or be able to extricate themselves from the situation in order to receive help of any kind. They may be an adult by the time this happens.
The important thing to remember about C-PTSD is that it isn’t a single traumatic incident, and you are more likely to have this form of PTSD if the trauma occurred early in life, it was inflicted by someone close to you, and/or was inflicted by someone you still see on a regular basis.
Some good examples to give you the idea include:
ongoing domestic violence
child abuse and/or neglect
being raised by a parent with a severe disorder like Narcissistic Personality Disorder
repeatedly witnessing violence or abuse
torture
kidnapping
being a part of a cult
being a victim of human trafficking or slavery
It isn’t “complex” because it is always across the board “more severe.” This isn’t simply “even worse PTSD,” and shouldn’t be treated like that. Its source is more complex, the development and embedded varieties of its impact are, and the ongoing treatment is.
Particularly when C-PTSD occurs in childhood, there are lasting effects on a person’s development. They have developed in an environment that constantly has them highly stressed both physically and psychologically, and in which they learn many ways of coping, lessening or negating harm, and so on, that leave them less than optimally functional and integrated in life outside the situation.
While the person has the symptoms of PTSD, they will additionally exhibit:
difficulty developing and/or maintaining relationships of any sort
intense, consistent feelings of worthlessness, shame, and guilt
problems managing and even understanding their own emotions
suicidal thoughts
dissociation
increased risk-taking behaviors
Those who have had their actual development rerouted to deal with the situations that generate C-PTSD have a higher incidence of physical symptoms, suicide, self-harm, substance abuse, and are at higher risk of repeat victimization.
They might go for some time without realizing that their daily experiences are neither the norm nor something sustainable, or how atypical their traumatic experiences were compared to those around them. It can sometimes take a serious life-event (suicide attempt, drug rehab, losing too many jobs, homelessness, or finding themselves in a genuine, loving relationship) for them to fully recognize something is wrong, and even then, their feelings of worthlessness, ingrained lack of self-confidence, and belief that they don’t deserve any better can prevent them from seeking help outside of themselves.
They may also believe that something is just “wrong” with them, that they are innately messed up, or that they have a different mental illness. And the unwillingness to open up to people, relieve events, etc. can additionally leave them unwilling to seek or continue care when they believe they have a different, underlying problem. Again, choosing to deal with this themselves through self-isolating, self-medicating, and seeking only relationships and jobs that will work within the framework of the disorder as it effects them.
Additionally, many sufferers of both C-PTSD and PTSD experience the same sense of societal shaming surrounding mental illness. They may struggle with denial, and refuse to seek assistance due to the stigma and all it entails.
Shared aspects of PTSD and C-PTSD
They’re both, obviously, severe, life-altering trauma experiences and resultant disorders. They both easily make the sufferer feel like the trauma and disorder is impossible or undesirable for others to deal with, that they are not worthy of being in close relationships, among many other similarities in experience living with either disorder regardless of widely varying traumas.
They share psychological and physical impacts, and there is a lot of overlap.
The core symptoms of PTSD are shared with C-PTSD:
relieving the trauma(s)
avoiding and emotional numbing
hyperarousal
The shared physical symptoms can include:
headaches
nausea, stomach ache, and digestive upsets
difficulty sleeping and insomnia
sweating, clamminess
chest pain and difficulty breathing
manifestations of low-grade to severe pain
dizziness
Shared behaviors can include:
difficulty concentrating to outright dissociating
self-harm
substance abuse
being hyper-vigilant, easily startled
may seem to be over-reactive to/in situations that others are perceiving as normal or not that big of a deal due to lower perception of personal emotions and lower emotional regulation
including explosive anger or defensiveness
development of anxiety and depression disorders, the symptoms thereof
Again, both PTSD and C-PTSD are serious disorders caused by trauma, and they both need to be treated with respect and accuracy when written into a character - be that an OC or a canon character. It is unfortunate, but these symptoms and the realities of life with either disorder are often portrayed badly in wider media, and the RPC often imitates what it sees.
PTSD and C-PTSD, like the incidents of trauma that created them (rape, child abuse, domestic violence, miscarriage, etc.), are not a plot-point, other point of interest, or a character trait, let alone a “character flaw.” They’re not something you only bring up for attention, to get your muse out of a bad spot, or to add dramatics when you’re bored in a thread. Neither are they something you need to attach to your muse simply to give them A Label. These are, I cannot stress this enough, serious topics, and they deserve to be treated that way.
You can do that by defining which variety of PTSD your muse may actually have, then adding research of both the disorder and how it impacts a variety of real people. Making your muse more realistic and being dedicated to sticking with it.
Below are some links to get you started on research! Please note, the real stories, as well as some information, may be graphic or triggering. Read responsibly.
C-PTSD
Out of the Storm - Personal Stories of C-PTSD
-Contains real stories from those with Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Their experiences have a huge range; bullying, childhood neglect and abuse, and sexual abuse and assault.
I Have Post-Traumatic Stress and Didn’t Know It - and You Might, Too
-Personal story of living, unknowingly, with C-PTSD. An especially great read for writers who have muses who hold a lot of responsibility in their daily lives, who may not realize their experiences are C-PTSD related, etc. Contains discussion of parental emotional abuse, mental illness and childhood trauma, and rape.
What is C-PTSD?
-Excellent resource for detailed breakdowns of C-PTSD giving without a clinical, impersonal tone. The definitions of the disorder itself, symptoms and how it manifests and impacts daily life, and much more. A highly recommended source, and one with further resources on-site.
11 “Habits” of People Living with C-PTSD
-Short breakdown of C-PTSD, followed by snippets of specific experiences in the words of those living with the disorder, a relatively short article.
PTSD
Rebecca’s Story: Living with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
-Personal story of a woman living with PTSD from, in short, being stalked by a co-worker. It’s an excellent article, particularly for how mental illnesses sufferers are treated and portrayed, and how that adds another layer of difficulty to their lives. Obviously, this may be triggering to those who have been stalked, and includes mentions of graphic threats.
My experience of PTSD
-A personal story of medical trauma resulting in PTSD. Many of the PTSD stories you’ll find are from women and involve sexual trauma or harassment, in trying to find a variety of stories, I’ve found this one. By this point, you should be noticing many similarities in these stories, regardless of specific trauma.
Leaving the Battlefield: Soldier Shares Story of PTSD
-So many muses experience PTSD through battle-related incidents, and those depictions are not always accurate in media. This is a personal story about one soldier’s experiences. His perception of PTSD, denial, and shame at having the disorder is something that echoes throughout the previous accounts. So do the similarities of daily struggles to maintain to regular life. Before anyone wants to get Tumblr Nasty about it: there isn’t any “war propaganda” present in this story, the location of it is irrelevant to what you’re supposed to be learning here. It’s literally this man’s experience, don’t.
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
-Breakdown of symptoms and causes from Mayo Clinic, so obviously, this is more clinical-minded. Particularly useful for its lists of things like “symptoms of negative changes in thinking and mood” and increased risk-factor for other disorders.
I hope this helps you to assess and write more accurately your muses with C-PTSD or PTSD, and to consider these things more fully when having your muse experience a traumatic event in your plots.
-------
Please, remember when you are reading these accounts, and anywhere you might encounter PTSD sufferers; these are REAL PEOPLE. Treat them and their stories with respect. You’ll note that, unlike other posts on this blog, I didn’t advise you to approach the source. Many trauma sufferers won’t be comfortable sharing their experiences for the sake of your creative hobby. You may, at your respectful discretion, discuss this with close friends you know to be impacted by PTSD, just keep in mind that respect, discretion, and only bringing the topic up when they are comfortable with it, with specific questions, is necessary here. These are not fictional characters! Do not write someone’s real experiences into your character, thread, etc. verbatim, that’s...fucked up. Thanks in advance for being responsible, respectful adults, from a real life PTSD sufferer. -Vespertine

i <3 jules fuck yall
this is kind of a long post but these are my thoughts
i am ride or fucking die for jules and i do not want to HEAR ITTTTTT from the jules haters. The fact that people can take such a complex character and turn it into a completely black and white issue is ridiculous when every other character gets a pass for the bullshit they pull.
people have painted her as this emotionally manipulative person who is selfish in everything she does when if you watched the show and rubbed two fucking braincells together that turns out to be very much,,, not the case.
season 1
jules has been demonized since season 1 so let’s start there. i think a lot of the hate stems from the fact that she seemed a little distant with rue at some point and ultimately left her at the train station at the end of the season. what a lot of people were saying was that they didn’t like how she seemed to lead rue on when rue was so obviously and completely in love with her. i’ll admit, i also thought some of this, but this is completely ignoring her character arc throughout the season as well as what was eventually revealed in her special episode “fuck anyone who’s not a sea blob”.
throughout the first season jules makes it clear that her one condition for rue is that she has to remain clean. this is something that rue fails at almost immediately, stealing pills from jules’s house until eventually ali is able to set her straight (end of s1e3/beginning of s1e4). when rue starts to make the effort to stay clean, she becomes completely reliant on jules, essentially trading her drug dependency for a jules dependency. the fact that people around her continuously remind her of this is a constant stressor for her (like when lexi told her rue is “doing really well because of her”). jules wants rue to stay clean because she loves her and so she sticks by her and tries to be as accommodating as possible even if it is to her own detriment which leads to her acting out (like during the halloween episode). this is something jules has negative experiences with as well which we see a little bit of in her special. it is revealed that jules’s mom is also someone who struggles with substance abuse and has made their familial relationship dependent on her sobriety, relapsing when jules is (rightfully) upset with her. this also goes hand in hand with the trauma jules underwent at the hands of her mother when she was a child as we saw in her backstory at the beginning of episode 4.
during her special episode, she goes into detail just how deeply she felt for rue and how complex those feelings were. she also described a recurring nightmare she would have where her and rue lived together in new york after graduating and she’d come home to rue dead on the bathroom floor after an overdose.
the strain on her relationship with rue (and her mother by proxy) is happening during her more overt storyline in which she was tricked, manipulated, and blackmailed by nate. she fully fell in love with him and therefore every interaction she had with nate became extremely emotionally taxing and traumatizing.
when she visited her friend in the city, this was briefly explored as she imagined nate in the club. her yelling that she hated him for what he did to her while he responded that she didn’t was all you needed to understand that as awful as his betrayal was, it didn’t magically erase the feelings she developed for him.
what people don’t really seem to get is that when rue suggested the two of them run away, jules was also at her lowest and dealing with all this shit, which is why she agreed instead of trying to talk rue out of it. it’s also why she left while rue decided to stay. it wasn’t done maliciously, it was done desperately.
(also regarding anna,,,while i wasn’t super into that whole thing, i dont think jules and rue ever had a legit conversation about labels/boundaries/rules about their relationship is season 1 given that jules willingly and casually told her about her encounter with anna instead of hiding it)
now on to season 2
i don’t think the jules hate really took off until the drama with elliot and here’s why i am still in full support of her: rue is a terrible girlfriend.
does rue love jules? yes. undoubtedly. her narration constantly reminds us of this. that, however, doesn’t automatically make her a good partner. after the two of them unpack the train situation at the new years eve party and get back together, jules is shown to be constantly insecure in her relationship. it already started tediously, with rue admitting that her relapse had at least something to do with the Train Incident. this, i’m sure, already gives jules the impression that her standing in the relationship was a little bit tedious. with rue being the worst improvisational liar ever and pretending to forget meeting elliot, this furthers this insecurity with the implication that rue is not 100% IN the relationship.
is jules naive for not seeing that rue is clearly high all the time?? yes. but that doesn’t change the fact that rue’s drug use still affects the relationship. jules thinks that rue is distracted and seems to be pulling away. rue isn’t really providing the attention that jules wants out of the relationship, something which elliot, ever the opportunist, manages to do. he compliments and flirts with her, even before jules decided to act on it. what ends up completely driving jules to cheat was when rue, too high to feel anything, fakes the world’s fakest orgasm which in turn pushes jules away, feeling insecure in her sexual ability (something which she consistently seeks out validation from as seen in season 1). she feels humiliated on top of a little dysmorphic, and when given the attention she needs, jumps at the chance (i.e. elliot).
i’m not saying she’s in the right here. what she did was definitely wrong, but it’s frustrating seeing viewers hold her so harshly responsible when rue has been lying, neglecting, and gaslighting that absolute hell out of her the whole time. rue is emotionally abusive. that is a fact. not just to jules either, but to her mother, and her sister, and her friends. it’s a byproduct of the addiction, yes, but that does not absolve her of blame or responsibility.
later in the episode, jules is pushed even further away when after trying to prevent rue from drinking, rue lashes out and confirms exactly what jules is afraid of: that she “can’t fucking stand [her]”. was it dumb of jules to put the alcohol in the backseat with rue? yes. was it fucked up that they just fucking left her on the side of the road? also yes. however, i am choosing to blame elliot almost entirely for this because again, as far as jules knows, rue is sober. (also nobody blamed lexi for leaving cassie on the street drunk as hell on new years??)
the fact that jules, after realizing rue has been lying about her sobriety the entire time they’ve been together still tried to help her, proves how much she cares about her. she did the right thing by telling rue’s mom. she did what we are all told to do in an event like that, especially since they are both minors. she did what even lexi admitted she failed to do. let’s not forget that jules grew up with an addict for a mother. i’m sure she knew that if she confronted rue head on (which she has tried in the past!!) rue would’ve lashed out and would not have gotten the help she needs. she is holding her accountable in ways that others, even good people like fez and lexi, have been enabling her habits (selling her drugs; pissing for a drug test).
concluding thoughts
i think the general assessment of her character craving love and being willing to accept it from wherever she can is a pretty correct one. i think she tends to be naive in her relationships, falling for everyone that shows her affection which is why we see her fall for shyguy118 (nate), anna, and most recently, elliot. this doesn’t make her a bad person, just someone with personal baggage that needs to be unpacked and dealt with.
my issue is mainly that people seem to focus on ONLY the bad stuff and blow it up. people still hold compassion for rue despite her hurting and manipulating those around her, because people can understand that she is complex and there is nuance to her character. the same goes for i think every character?? so why is it different for jules :/
instead, direct that negative energy to elliot, a high functioning addict opportunist that lied to BOTH rue and jules and sat around while the suitcase full of drugs got flushed despite knowing about rue’s deal with laurie

Astro Musings No. 4
Synastry in the 12th house
…Can make two people secretly afraid of each other. They can be intrigued but also afraid of the depths the know the other person has. Things may go unexpressed between two people especially if Mercury is in hard aspect here. It can also cause misunderstandings. Someone’s Mars in your twelfth house will cause you to sense an animalistic sexual feeling coming from them or you may feel these feelings towards them but don’t know why. At its worst, you may feel like there is something aggressive about the other, but you really can’t place it. It may be an unexplainable, aggravating, and uneasy feeling. Someone’s moon here may feel like the other person has a deep understanding of you on an unconscious level giving. It may make you feel eerie or give you inner peace. 12th house also rules the spirit world so there can be an other-worldly feeling or telepathic insights between people with synastry in this house. Neptune can touching the Sun or the Moon can also indicate parents who might have substance abuse issues or alcoholic tendencies.
Aries Mars’
….Need to be careful not to expend so much of their energy during sex. They are prone to going balls to the wall *no pun intended* that it may be over rapidly. You all need to either find someone who is okay with multiple rounds of quickies, or they need to do solar plexus chakra work. They can learn to control their urge to get to their climax at NOS-aided speed. If they don’t get things under control and reel it back a bit, they run the risk of leaving their partner unsatisfied.
People with Venus in Aquarius
…Or Aquarius touching the Moon or Venus in hard aspect or Saturn/Uranus touching Mars or Moon in hard aspect, do not like to be touched. They like their bubble. They dislike PDA and can be awkward when it comes to physical affection. The ones who give the “weird hugs”. They like distance between them and others. However, these people can also be very good dancers since Venus is about Art and Mars is about action, and Uranus is all about sudden “breaks”. Dancers with this placement can bend and break their bodies however they see fit. Mars in Virgo can also be excellent dancers, especially in regimented forms of dancing like Ballet, or rhythmic gymnastics.
Libra placements and Taurean placements
….Are by far the most affectionate in terms of physical touch. Especially if in the 4th, 5th, or 7th. They are ruled by Venus and the 2nd house which rules the material. Things that are very much about the senses. They can have oral fixations. These people love having sex. Natives with Mars in Taurus [particularly men] will enjoy “eating” their partner out. Perfumes that smell nice, music, food, anything that sets an ambiance. They love massages. They like holding hands and making out. This will be especially true if any of these placements.planets fall into the 5th, 7th house, 4th house, 8th or 11th house in harmonious aspect.
Asteroid Sado
…is all about abuse and pain, if touching Saturn it can make one prone to cruelty or people can show this to them. They can also be very good at torture tactics but regimented since Saturn is about discipline. Pretty sure the folks running Guantanamo have this placement somewhere in their chart.
Saturn conjunct Algol
…Can make someone have a very high pain tolerance because Algol is also about pain and Saturn is about time.
Saturn opposing the moon
…Can make people struggle with fear of intimacy. They can completely avoid it. The good thing is when in opposition there is still the ability to balance. An opposition is just an imbalance, there needs to be equal reciprocal to keep things level. Natives with this placement need to remember it is okay to be vulnerable. They may do well having friends who are older. They need to overcome their fear of getting close to people. Not everyone will waste your time.
When someone's Priapus
…. is touching one of your personal planets or vice versa there will be an uncontrollable desire to merge with them. If it’s mercury you want to delve into their minds. If it’s Mars you want to fuck them constantly. If it’s Venus, you’re dying for them to love you. If it’s Jupiter, this is intense and buckle up. The urge to mate with them will be exacerbated. Also, watch out if this guy falls into the 8th house or when he conjuncts Black Moon Lilith.
Believe it or not, Capricorn placements
…Are the best in regard to knowing how the body operates.
Especially if it’s forming a harmonious aspect to a sexual planet or to Pluto/1st or the 8th house. Capricorn is about time and wealth. It is also an earth sign so they are very in touch with the physical. When this placement is messing with Mars or say, one’s Eros or Adonis, or whether these asteroids are in Capricorn or Lilith in Capricorn, they can be cold publically but a machine in the bedroom. They will typically like things on the rougher and more indulgent side of sex. They take their time and are extremely penetrative when figuring things out  *no pun intended*. They will decipher every movement, micro-movement, action vs reaction, and store it in the earthy archives of their minds for later. They’ll never forget. Mars in Capricorn can also be seen in the charts of many personal trainers.
Capricorn placements with Pluto in the mix
…Often become Doctors; specifically surgeons or morticians. Especially if Saturn rules 8th house, Midheaven in Scorpio, or Mars in Capricorn placement in either of these houses. Capricorn Venus’ can often Marry for money or have marriages based on political ambition. Arranged marriages can be seen here or a general formality in regard to love. Again, we’re dealing with the father of discipline energy so Capricorn Venus can be reticent to show love. They kiss you while you sleep, but show toughness while awake.
Capricorns also have a very strong psychic ability.
…Hear me out. Since Saturn is the Seagoat, he straddles both earth AND water. The Physical and the Spiritual. People with strong Saturn placements can often experience dreams that have strong karmic attachments to them. Past Life regression etc. Dreams of catastrophic events or dreams of court case outcomes. Especially if Saturn is in or ruling 12th house or the 8th house.
Taurus Venus
…Will purposefully and actively pursue their partner when they really want them. So if a Taurus Venus person isn’t giving you the time and attention you want, they may not be fully committed or interested in/to you. However, if this same Venus is opposing or squaring the native’s Pluto it can make them shy and secretly obsessed but withdrawn in demonstrating it. These are the people who can be in love secretly but never say a word. The ones who can orchestrate secret affairs for years and no one would be the wiser. Remember, 8th house is what’s hidden and forbidden and venus is about love.
Mars square Venus
….When flirting will poke fun at the object of their desire. They will see if the person can keep up with their banter. They’ll throw digs to see if the other can give it as good as they get it. They may also create drama for attention. Love just doesn’t feel right without passion and fire. They can also attract people who make scenes or bring drama into their lives.
An Unaspected Sun
…Can make one enigmatic or someone with aspects of themselves that will be hard to figure out. They may even be hard to remember. There will be something Neptunian about them. They sort of fade or blend into the background.
Lilith in the 3rd house
…May make a native addicted to writing. Particularly unafraid of writing about darker things. Taboo subjects. Even erotica. Lilith in the 6th house and the 2nd is a placement for many sex workers.
Mars in the 4th house can indicate military lineage or “army brats.”  While a Sun inconjunct or square to Uranus can indicate a father who is brilliant/a genius or a father who “split” early in a native’s life.
Gemini’s
…Actually like to show off more than Leo’s. But Leo’s show off less than Cancers. Cancers cry less than Pisceans but Pisceans can actually be some of the harshest people when angered. It is because they are ruled by Neptune, a water planet. In mythology, he is also known as the “Earth-Shaker”. Seas get violent too, people.
Contrary to popular belief, Virgo’s can actually be very messy.
Yes, messy, not dirty, there is a difference. As stereotypical as this sounds, they prefer clean sex and are the types to do it in the shower. As for the “messiness”, They of course will know where everything is but their mercurial energy can make them throw things here and there as they run around trying to get 10 things done before breakfast.
Mars and Juno
In synastry can indicate a couple/marriage that will be very active physically.
Mercury in aspect to Aquarius
…Or an Aquarius stellium can make people out of the box thinkers. The people will be inventors. The ones who create things you didn’t even know you needed. Things like the pop socket grip that goes on the back of your phone or 0 calorie carbonated water. Uranian placements can also be seen in people who are Asexual or conversely pansexual.
Contrary to popular belief, Mars in Scorpio
…Gets very attached actually when they have sex. That is because they feel sex is more than just a physical act but a merging of souls. This is Pluto we’re dealing with, remember. Merging is what he is about. So they prefer to not just have sex with anyone and can actually be quite picky about their sexual partners. I receive a Lot of asks from folks who are struggling and are trying to identify Why That Is, and a lot of the time will ask me about symptoms, if they’re considered “bad enough”, what they should do, talk about how they are scared to pursue help or a diagnosis or anything like that because the fear of “faking it”, or the realization that they’re actually just lazy.
But! Ok, first of all. i’ve been there! my entire life, worried that the reason i’m Like This is laziness, that i’m going to never find out why i’m like i am, and the thing everyone has told me (that i’m just lazy) was true! but really, i don’t believe in laziness anymore. i honestly don’t think it’s real. i think it’s just lack of motivation, and often times, that can be traced to something else- a temporary cause to being lazy rather than a permanent personality flaw. this is important in being able to recognize executive dysfunction, why it happens, how to deal with it, and why it doesn’t make you a bad person.
There’s a reason you’re exploring these feelings, there’s a reason you’re researching, why you’re asking me, why you’re here and wanting that validation! You don’t want to be told that your struggles aren’t real. And you shouldn’t be! I can’t diagnose you, I can’t tell you how you feel, I can’t watch your life and tell you if you fit the bill- but that doesn’t mean I can’t say you’re Allowed to struggle. you’re Allowed to question your brain and your motivation and your symptoms no matter What could be causing them!
Secondly: ADHD activism isn’t.. it isn’t just about ADHD. i don’t have to tell you about the idea of intersectionality, and all that (just go read Kimberly Crenshaw’s piece on it, she can say it better than I ever could)- but basically, once you start addressing the systematic inequality that one group faces, you realize there’s overlap. with. Everything. and that’s good! that’s so important in being able to recognize privilege, in being able to empathize, to expand your knowledge of others!
So my point is this:
- Accommodations shouldn’t just be available for students and employees with ADHD diagnoses.
The coping strategies and skills made for ADHD people should be available to anyone who needs them- if someone who has anxiety is going to benefit from extra testing time, why deny that? if activism and accommodations for folks with ADHD are meant to uplift a group that struggles inordinately in comparison to our peers, why shouldn’t that extend to Everyone who struggles inordinately? Who can’t access or afford a diagnosis? Why gate-keep people without “official diagnoses” because they don’t have something on paper to say they struggle? That doesn’t mean their struggles aren’t any less real.
Back when i was figuring out if i had ADHD, I was too scared to reach out to blogs on tumblr because while I saw my experiences reflected to a tee in people’s posts about their lives, i saw an equal amount of misdirected anger at people “appropriating” the idea of ADHD, anger at folks self-diagnosing, and anger at anyone who related but “didn’t have adhd” - i’m sure you get the point. and yes, while saying “we’re all a little adhd” and “wow i procrastinate all the time i’m just like you” can trivialize people’s struggles, it’s important to realize that not everyone Knows they have adhd, not everyone Knows the symptoms because it is grossly misrepresented on like, EVERY piece of media with an adhd character i’ve ever seen. so of course people aren’t gonna know! and gatekeeping and pretending folks with diagnoses have some sort of “authority” on who gets to use adhd terms and resources only excludes people who need help and also is really weird.
(I know i know a lot about this because i’ve dedicated a lot of time and energy into it but like. i’m just a random dude. you know?)
Also! getting a diagnosis (in america, at least) is hard! and expensive! really expensive! Please try to understand that before you talk about people (yes. even yourself.) self-diagnosising “to be special” or what have you, and understand the classist undertones of what you’ve been taught! (And a lot of people of color are overlooked, and a lot of AFAB people are overlooked, and a lot of people with anxiety/depression symptoms are misdiagnosed, and... you get it.)
While i’m at it, we need to talk about how ADHD folks speak about addicts. it is Not addicts faults that adhd meds are hard to get, stigmatized, expensive, and controlled. You can blame (if you’re american) the war on drugs and big pharma restricting access to helpful resources (like medication and therapy) that BOTH adhd folks And addicts need! Individuals are not at fault. this is a systematic issue. Not to mention that people with adhd are Extremely likely to develop substance abuse because of the self medication aspect of it. It’s almost absurd how high the rates are, and stigmatizing addiction because of the lack of resources for all of us only further divides our own community.
anyway, you don’t have to prove to Anyone that you have it “bad enough” to deserve help, to deserve validation, and to deserve resources. your experiences are enough. i hope this helps a bit

hello yes i absolutely love ur arcane fics but i read ur oc thing when it popped up on my dash and i would LOVE to know more abt grace and helen. pls tell me all the things
SO I actually have a fic in my drafts for them right now (I got another ask about them!) so that's gonna get published in the next hour or so, but let me actually tell you about them!
Gonna write lil bios and a ship section. the ship sections are weird because it’s everyone i’ve ever shipped them with but not all of them are...canon. Christ it’s weird to refer to my own canon. anyway. Feel free to follow up with more questions or requests or whatever I am always happy to write about the blorbos from my brain.
Angel / Grace Macfinley / Grace Algamest -
Some specific details of Grace's deal in the mainline canon ((I can't believe i'm saying that. the @theasperagroup canon)) are a little bit secret. But she's always associated with angel shit, she's stubborn to a fault, principled, lover not a fighter but someone you really do not want to put in a corner. She's scottish (same as Helen!) and at the end of the day would really prefer to be chopping wood in the countryside than doing any of this shit, but with great power... etc. Typically how it goes is that when she has great power she does her time and then does her best to find someone quiet to retire.
Ships: She has a failed (and extremely bad) relationship with one Macbeth Macfinley, the details of which I would not get into without a domestic violence TW. From there, she gets involved with either Helen and/or Lorelei Algamest, The Lady In Black, who will be featuring in this next fic and is one of the central characters of my OC system. Unfortunately Laurie (lorelei) is also susceptible to Macbeth so that goes a little Badly sometimes. (Helen would have none of that shit. Helen would Kill Them)
Dr. Elaine Cheshire / Helen Cheshire
Helen has a.... complicated history. While she's got some secrets, too, the main trajectory of her character is from being a really truly abysmal human being to doing her absolute best to be a better person. She does not do very well at it, frequently. Being a trans student at an academy to make supervillains did not make her the best adjusted person, and she experimented on herself to the degree that she frequently makes herself sick. Her history is a patchwork of grand scale supervillainy, smaller scale villainy, bad decisions, substance abuse problems, medical problems, and stints in prison and rehab programs. She Is Trying. So Hard.
Ships: Helen struggles with trust issues extremely severely and has an unfortunate tendency to self sabotage by falling in love with people she thinks she can't have, either because they're her enemies or because they’re taken or both. This has resulted in her falling for Grace, for Laurie, both of them at the same time, her lab partner in an undercover job (Dr. Evangeline Ariane, a physicist),  and also @the-neon-pineapple’s man, Damien Allio, who is just a genuinely good man and thus Well Beyond Her, In Her Opinion (and taken!) (Several times over), oh also the god of winter, Rolf McAnnaly. She has also fallen in love with the god of winter. someone help her.

What the Hell is “Emotional Incest”?
Emotional incest, also known as “covert incest”, “spousification” or “parentification” is a certain type of unhealthy relationship that can exist between a parent and child. In these situations, the child is treated more like a “subsitute spouse”or even a “substitute parent” to their parent than an actual child. The parent’s need to have an adult life partner or a parent of their own outweighs the child’s need for an actual childhood, and the child takes on an adult role in the relationship at a much, much earlier age than is developmentally appropriate. Although this does not involve actual physical incest, it can give the child lifelong struggles with intimacy, relationships and self-esteem.
Sounds familiar to you? You may have experienced emotional incest or parentification if:
You grew up in a family that was dysfunctional or broken in some way. Emotional incest (EI) and parentification generally don’t happen in households where there are stable, loving parental figures who have a healthy relationship between them. EI usually occurs in households where one parent is dead, disabled, incarcerated or absent, or in households where there is serious dysfunction - alcoholism, drug use, mental illness, violence, poverty, divorce or other major issues. Generally, EI stems from a parent being unable to cope with their own loneliness or with the seriousness of their circumstances, and leaning hard on their child as a result.
Your parent confided in you at an inappropriately young age. You were treated like your parent’s substitute therapist, and asked for your input on situations that you were much too young to handle - your parent may have told you about their sex life, your other parent’s infidelity, their own experiences of child abuse, or other adult issues that you were not old enough to handle. No attempt was made to explain things in an age-appropriate manner, and you were not told these things for your benefit; your parent simply dumped their emotional issues on you, and expected you to deal with them in a meaningful way, even when you were barely old enough to understand them.
It was your responsibility to keep the household running. Almost all children are responsible for some amount of age-appropriate household chores, like dishes and vacuuming, but you were responsible for major household tasks that should have been your parent’s responsibility. You had to make sure that there was food in the fridge, school clothes for the younger children and that someone had paid the electrical bill, because if you didn’t do those things, nobody else was going to. At an age where most children can’t use the stove by themselves, you were expected to keep the household functioning.
You had to set rules and boundaries for your parent, not the other way around. You were the one who had to lecture your parent about responsibility when they came home drunk on a Tuesday night or when they forgot to take their medication again. You had to take on the “adult” role in the relationship and beg or scold your parent into growing up and being an adult for once. Although being on equal footing with your parent might sound awesome once you are both adults, it is an exhausting thing for a child to have to deal with - you aren’t even old enough to take care of yourself yet, but you are already responsible for trying to emotionally parent a grown adult.
You may have had to physically take care of your parent. In some households, children are made to engage in something called “instrumental parentification” - this is where you are expected to physically take care of a parent. This can happen in households where a parent has a physical disability and needs their child to prepare their meals, dress them, etc, but it is especially common in households where one or more parents struggles with substance abuse. If you had to routinely put a drunk parent to bed and clean up their vomit, you are well aware of what instrumental parentification feels like.
You were given no discipline or structure by your parent. It might sound awesome to live in a house where there are no rules and you can do whatever you want, but it is actually emotionally devastating to grow up in a household where no one gives a shit if you drop out of school or don’t come home at night. You weren’t given healthy boundaries and no one made any meaningful effort to look after your well-being - if you wanted to smoke and have unprotected sex in high school, no one cared. All of your boundaries and responsibilities were things you had to figure out for yourself.
You are probably the eldest child, or the eldest child of your sex. Children who experience EI or parentification are normally one of the oldest children in the family. Eldest daughters are at especially high risk, as both fathers and mothers are disproportionately likely to turn their eldest girl into a substitute mother or spouse. There are cases, however, where a parent chooses the eldest son for their codependency; this is especially likely in families where the father figure is dead or absent.
You raised your younger siblings. You were, for all intents and purposes, the true parent of your younger siblings. Most older siblings have to do some occasional babysitting or keeping an eye out for the younger siblings, but your role went well beyond that - you may have been the only one making sure that they were fed, bathed and doing okay in school. If you didn’t get them up and off to school in the mornings, they simply didn’t go. You probably signed field trip permission slips, made sure that everyone had clothes for school, and took an interest in your siblings’ lives in a way that your parent never did. Your parent may have kept on having kids well into your adolescence - there was an assumption that you’d just keep on raising whatever children they handed to you.
Your parent was unable to handle your emotions, so you stopped showing them. Whenever you had some kind of breakdown or emotional moment, your parent absolutely could not handle it; they were depending on you to be the “rock” of the household, and when you showed any signs of cracking, it completely overwhelmed them. They could not step up to the plate and cope with your emotions in any way; they often made your emotions all about them. So you quickly learned to push everything down and put on a brave face at all times, all for the sake of your parent.
Your parent did everything in their power to prevent you from moving out. Your parent was likely not a huge fan of the idea that you would one day move on with your life and leave them to fend for themselves, and they may have gone to great lengths to delay it. They might have discouraged you from having any kind of independence by preventing you from going to college or having a job, or they may simply have appealed to your emotions, insisting that you were needed at home and that leaving would mean “abandoning” them. Your parent may have intensely disliked all of your romantic partners, and felt threatened by the idea that your partner was trying to “take you away” from them.
Examples of emotional incest and parentification in fiction:
Fiona from Shameless. Fiona is perhaps the boilerplate example of extreme parentification. She is the oldest daughter in a family where one parent has outright abandoned the family, and the other parent is a low-functioning alcoholic with little interest in being a father. Fiona raises all of her younger siblings and ensures that the household is somewhat functional, at the cost of her own happiness. She repeatedly makes poor decisions in her personal life, but does not have any parent around to offer her guidance.
Princess Carolyn from Bojack Horseman. Princess Carolyn was raised by an alcoholic mother, and often had to fill in for her mom at her cleaning job when she was too drunk to work, so her mother would not be fired. Her mother also tries to use guilt to keep Princess Carolyn from leaving home to achieve her dreams. As an adult, Princess Carolyn continues to be hyper-responsible for the dysfunctional adults around her, and jumps in to save them from themselves even when it harms her.
Bella from Twilight. Bella’s parents are depicted as being flighty, irresponsible and clueless, particularly her mother, Renee. Bella expresses guilt over leaving each of her parents to fend for themselves at different points in the story, even though she is a minor and they are both adults. Even while living with her father Charlie, Bella takes over the household chores and does all of the cooking, as her adult father is unable to cook for himself.
Like anything else, emotional incest and parentification fall on a spectrum. You may have had a parent who was relatively functional when it came to finances and household chores, but made a habit of unloading on you emotionally and expecting you to give advice on adult issues. Or you may have had a deeply mentally ill and addicted parent who required huge amounts of care. Sometimes, parentification and emotional incest are temporary things - your parent may have leaned on you to be their parent for a few years after a major upset, like a divorce, before gradually getting back on their own feet, or their functionality may have waxed and waned as they recovered and relapsed from their issues. Some people have experiencing everything on this list and more, while some may have only experienced one or two things, and only for a short time. Not two families are alike.
It’s also important to remember that the impacts of emotional incest are deeply negative. There is a huge misconception that being a parentified child is somehow “good” for you, because it will make you wise and responsible at a young age. This isn’t actually the case; what many people see as “responsibility” is usually just high-functioning anxiety, which comes from being raised in a household where you got very little guidance and there wasn’t always a parent there to back you up if you messed up. Parentified children often get a “late start” in life, as they may continue to feel responsible for their parents well into their 20s, and their parents may go out of their way to discourage life milestones like college, independence and marriage. Children who have experienced emotional incest also tend to struggle with their own relationships as adults; they frequently have poor self-esteem and an enormous tolerance for dysfunction in their romantic partners, which can be a dangerous combination. They often struggle to have relationships without taking on codependent tendencies and placing an enormous caretaker burden on themselves, and it can take a long time for them to feel comfortable in egalitarian relationships.
There is hope for children who grew up in these situations - therapy can be an excellent tool for working past these tendencies and moving past the loss of one’s childhood. But the first step is recognizing that something was wrong.
