Were you a fan of the 1991 Batb before you saw the 2017? I was a massive Batb nerd and I just ate up all of the little extra moments Bata 2017 added in! My personal favorite is when Belle sees Adam (in beast form) through the window seemingly TALKING TO Phillipe! I thought it was such a cute moment. It reminded me of a book Batb retelling where Beauty had to calm her horse in the prescence of the beast, allowing him to pet another living thing for the first time since the curse. Such a great moment.

i was! though i definitely wouldn’t consider this interest “life long.” we had the VHS and it was definitely our most played disney princess movie in my house, closely followed by mulan. i enjoyed it, but much more a “normal” amount as a kid. it was never an actual interest really. just a good disney movie. i grew up and got into other things, shows etc, and it wasn’t until i saw batb 2017 in april of that year that it sparked something deep in me that has now become an actual special interest.

i completely agree with you though!! even though i hadn’t seen batb 1991 in years, i can very clearly remember watching batb 2017 in theaters for the first time and i was mentally comparing them in my head. like “oh that’s a new scene, oh they said it like That instead of This!” but it was all very positive :D i was super happy with the added scenes and songs and i just completely felt like they built upon batb 1991 in the most wonderful way. they gave adam and belle so much more depth (their character backstories, even for maurice!) and i just felt like they were so much more real! not to mention the added scenes which gave them more time to get to know each other. their friendship and love came across as so genuine to me, i couldn’t help but fall in love myself.

i absolutely adore that little moment when adam and philippe are talking!!!! it’s SO cute. i think adam loves horses and really missed that, in a way. (as i presume all the castle horses were cursed as well, just as froufrou was.) anyway that’s a really sweet scene to connect it to!! 🥺 i love that :”)

Ever since I created this Tumblr account after losing access to my original account at the beginning of this year, I never thought that I would be able to reach this milestone. Let alone meet so many amazing people here and becoming mutuals with them. Just the thought of having mutuals or followers still sounds wild to me, especially since I tend to be pretty shy and reserved, and I haven't created and posted gifs in a long time.
