i just did my sociology presentation over gender which involved feminism and toxic masculinity and i am so upset with the way my class reacted 😟😟...... let's just say i officially hate all the men in my class and they are probably some of the most ignorant group of people i have encountered in a school setting 😊😊. but seriously omg i don't think they could have been more sexist and misogynistic... it was so gross to listen to :(

Just thinking about how I often avoid saying I'm afab in online spaces (where people can't automatically "tell" from looking at me like they can in person) because I'm nb and find the stereotype of all nb people being afab or just "women-lite" so horribly uncomfortable that I'm almost ashamed at times of being afab even though it shapes my identity and experiences

WHAT??? I was a fresher two minutes ago and now I'm booking postgrad open days like hello???? what???? but I can't say I don't love it because it's soooopo exciting and I love my subject. I'm also aiming more ambitiously in terms of the universities I'll be applying for (will have safeties ofc) so that's VERY motivating. so yeah !! eeeee!!!!!

Why has selfishness become a valued trait in modern society?
Selfishness has long been considered a negative trait in society, often associated with greed, egotism, and a lack of consideration for others. However, in modern society, selfishness has increasingly become a valued trait, with individuals encouraged to prioritize their own needs and desires above all else.
There are several reasons why selfishness has become more accepted and even celebrated in today's culture. One of the primary factors is the rise of individualism, which places a strong emphasis on personal autonomy and self-expression. In a society that values self-fulfillment and personal success above all else, it is not surprising that selfishness has become a prized quality.Additionally, the advent of social media and technology has played a significant role in promoting selfish behavior. Platforms like Instagram and Facebook encourage individuals to curate an online persona that highlights their achievements and experiences, leading to a culture of self-promotion and narcissism. The competitive nature of modern society also contributes to the glorification of selfishness. In a world that rewards ambition and success, individuals are often encouraged to prioritize their own goals and aspirations, even if it comes at the expense of others.
Furthermore, the breakdown of traditional social structures and values has eroded the sense of community and collective responsibility, making it easier for individuals to justify acting in their own self-interest. In a society that places a high value on personal freedom and autonomy, selfishness is often seen as a natural and necessary trait.
Despite the growing acceptance of selfishness, it is important to recognize the negative impact that this trait can have on individuals and society as a whole. Selfish behavior can lead to conflict, isolation, and a lack of empathy for others, ultimately undermining the social fabric that holds communities together. In order to combat the negative effects of selfishness, it is essential for individuals to cultivate a sense of empathy and compassion for others. By recognizing the needs and feelings of those around us, we can create a more harmonious and inclusive society that values cooperation and mutual support.
Ultimately, while selfishness may be valued in modern society, it is important to remember the importance of balance and perspective. By striking a healthy equilibrium between our own needs and the needs of others, we can create a more caring and compassionate world for all.

"Even when we have explained the performance of all the cognitive and behavioral functions in the vicinity of experience - perceptual discrimination, categorization, internal access, verbal report - there may still remain a further unanswered question: Why is the performance of these functions accompanied by experience?"

Hi Toady :) just wanted to wish you well on the new platform. I really enjoyed your work over on TikTok and I completely understand why you decided to move on.
I’ve tried posting content on there, and I’ve had some videos do kind of well (def nowhere near yours), but as soon as I get negative comments I either panic delete them or just delete the whole video because I hate the way they make me feel. There’s such a culture on that app that you can say whatever you want to people. It makes what should be a fun experience of connecting with people into one that causes such dread.
I look forward to reading your work and getting back into tumblr after however many years. Be well! 💕
First of all, thank you so much! I could never have imagined the support I’d get on this decision 💙
Secondly, oh my god, tell me about it! I’m so sorry that happened to you, it must have been so stressful. The culture of that app is a creator’s nightmare. The number of times I typed and deleted “write your own damned story then” or “go read a book if you’re that desperate” in response to comments would make your head spin. It’s completely the algorithm’s fault too, it makes it entirely too easy to fall from relevance as a creator if you’re not uploading literally every single day.
I’m glad to have you here :)
