the shido mementos line actually pisses me off so much. ryuji and ann's responses are SO wildly ooc. ryuji doesn't like akechi but he knows akechi was abused??? he comments on how fucked up akechi's whole situation was?? and it's the same with ann, who has cut dialogue expressing the fact that she wishes they could've all been friends???? like holy shit????? what????? yusuke's response is at least normal, since he basically tells akechi that shido got what he deserved and he doesn't owe them anything.

but also like. if they wanted to address shido why not have it be a proper scene?? ig it's about time, but I don't see a reason why they couldn't have akechi thank the thieves at the first actual meeting. if he brings it up in mementos, why not properly discuss it at leblanc??

ann's interactions with akechi are so funny to me bc she seems to genuinely want to hang out with him even in during sae's palace. "you go cheating hottie!" the deleted poker game is a missed chance for many reasons but this yas queen ass line is top of the list. unused safe room dialogue post akechi boss battle has her straight up saying they could've been friends. the thieves den dialogue between them also seems to imply that akechi respects ann quite a bit (gets offended when she assumes he'd slut shame her + doesn't give a snarky response when she says changing kamoshida's heart was worse than killing him)

the idea that akechi spent time with joker and told him his backstory as a way to manipulate him and gain his trust is very weird to me because it like. never comes into play? he doesn't need to gain joker's trust for his plan, he blackmails himself onto the team and doesn't even attempt to leverage his relationship with joker to befriend the pts - he tells them, in literally the vaguest terms possible, about his grudge against shido, and that is likely strategic, but earlier? when he spills his guts to joker? he has no reason to do that and many reasons not to. admitting to being an illegitimate child and later saying his mother was a sex worker, if joker (or futaba, who was there for the first part) told anyone else about that and it got out, it would literally ruin everything for him. it would be an enormous scandal for him and i just don't believe he would risk his entire plan for the chance of gaining some sympathy points he doesn't even intend to use later on.

no. he told joker because he was at an extremely low point, the media he relied on for attention and love had turned against him, he felt unwanted, and he ended up confiding in the one person he feels like genuinely cares about him and wants him around. it's such an important moment for their relationship that basically loses all meaning if you just view it as manipulation.

theres also the lines where he's just openly craving violence and the thieves are trying to figure out how to respond
