I joined Threads the day it came out and now I'm starting to have second thoughts about being on there.

At first it felt different than other social media platforms, but now there's a lot of the same type of stuff going on as on every social media platform–people arguing, calling each other out, and people trying to create drama out of nothing.

Idk I think I'll just stick to Tumblr going forward and avoid the platforms owned by Meta. It's getting exhausting having to mute and block all of the drama on there.

Ugh is there anything worse than having to promote yourself on social media???? Why can't clients just find me themselves via magic? Why do I have to polish every aspect of myself for mass consumption? Why is every app so fucking saturated with iNfLuEnCeRs that one's work can't stand on its own, you gotta make a persona and whore* out your entire heart and soul just to get a lousy click?

And why do I feel this deep ache for approval that has me checking for likes every 3 minutes?? 😭

I'm an introvert. This shit is exhausting. It's so bad for my mental health. But there's no other way anymore.

hey btw before you start being angry at the 10 year old sephora kids and the ipad kids, remember that we should feel bad for them. because the world has failed them. it is not these kids faults that the world is so focused on materialistic things and that their parents don't know how to talk to them. that is the fault of social media and bad parenting. i said what i said.

i don’t feel like we’re in control when we’re going through apps on our phones, when we’re finding a partner incrime on tinder, when we’re forcing a smile on snapchat - social media is controlling us. and the more energy you put into that phone, that computer, that ipad, the more reality will fade away. it’s so sad because we know we’re out of control in reality, in our daily lives so a virtual place seems way more appealing to us. an unhealthy way to be in control seems more “appealing” to us. am i right or am i right
