#saw mp for the second time tonight#overall my thoughts didn’t change much from the first watch#I think it is a wonderfully done film#it is simplistically beautiful#the characters especially patrick feel wonderfully complex while still feeling attainable#they tell the story differently in the book but I love the way the movie tells it as well#especially the cut back scenes so you see the patrick and tom angle after seeing the tom and marion angle for the first portion#the cinematography is absolutely beautiful and the color grading is superb#the way marion and tom are always in cooler light or an almost chilly ambiance versus patrick and tom even sometimes with marion it’s all#warm light and flushed cheeky and comfort#and the score ! is unreal#the way the music ebbs and flows with conflict or cuts out entirely in moments of pure vulnerability so all you’re left with is#a puff of breath or a scratch of fabric#it’s beautiful#I obviously think harry is wonderful but david and emma are phenomenal in their roles#and linus plays a fabulous older tom to the way he speaks to the mannerisms it’s just beyond#I think this movie is important in its simplicity#it comments on the time period while not making it feel like a period piece or some huge statement#I genuinely genuinely think it’s a perfect comfort film#rainy day slightly sad feeling lost needing hope whatever it is you’re searching for I think you can find a piece of it in this film#next bit i’m gonna talk a little spoilery so don’t read if you don’t want but !#I really found myself appreciating marion’s final scene so much more the second time where earlier in the movie when they’re singing in the#car and she sticks her hand out the window and the end is a continuation of that as she’s racing away from the sea is really beautiful#donttttt even get me started on patrick and toms last scene my theatre tonight was even quieter than the first time I saw it but the#collective gasp half sob half sigh of relief of hope of sadness of happiness that filled the room#makes me so so so glad I saw it in theatres as much as an audience can sometimes be more annoying than great I think that moment made it#it’s not a blow your mind holy hell type of movie but it’s an important film I think#and most importantly I can see it withstanding the ultimate test of time#I think everyone should see it and better yet in a theater if you’re able but it’s a movie I will definitely find myself watching again#and again in the future 🤍

Bruce: What movie should I pick for family night?
Steph: Goncharov.
The other batkids: *agreement sounds*
Bruce: Uh, okay. What's it about?
Tim: You never heard of Goncharov, B?? Is the best mafia movie of all times.
Duke: Wow, Mr. Wayne, Dick told me you loved mafia movies, but you don't even know Goncharov?
Bruce: I'm not a big movie fan or a Scorcese fan, I guess this one jusy slided me by.
Damian: T-T I'm disapointed with you father, you have to be a truly uncultured swinne to have never wached such a masterpiece as Goncharov 1973 directed by Matteo JWHJ0715 and Martin Scorcese.
Dick: *who is more of a little shit than people give him credit for* He should know it! We watched it on our early novie nights. You don't remember, B? *sad eyes*
Bruce: *who did sleep during most of his first family movie nights with Dick* I-I-I'm soo sorry, Dick. We can watch it again today? Make new memories?
Dick: I guess.
Jason: The fact you never watched it diminish the value of a critical discussion of certain aspects, like the religous symbolism of the market scene with the two forbiden fruits with Katya seing christianity in the apple while Sophia represented the paganism with the pomegranate, that can only be appreciated in a second view.
Cass: Finally someone is talking about the pomegranate and the apple.
Steph: Can we talk about Mario's glass motif and how it subverts expectations since normally broken glass represents loss but here is Mario's obcession, not seing the beauty in the fragments - or in the members of his mafioso empire- in a drive for the perfection and assumed superior quality of the whole - his trials to be like the tradicional criminal families going against change and his facistic suprass of individuality - to the point were when he finally fixes his broken glass vase to perfection his most trustworthy allies - namely Andrey and Joseph - have betrayed him in one way or another.
Bruce: *completly lost* This does sound like a great movie!
Barbara: It is one. And you would know that if you had any ressemblance of culture.
Dick: Honestly Bruce I can't belive you sleeped and missed such a perfect movie like Goncharov.
Alfred: *entering the living room* What's going on here?
Tim: B never saw Goncharov.
Alfred: *who has absolutly no idea what they are talking about* Really? Master Bruce, I thought I had teached you better than that! Goncharov is a mark of cinematography!

Coming of age movie hot takes // Matt + Chris
YES, I realise that this is not a proper piece of writing, but don’t worry babies, mommy has got u covered for the weekend coming (hopefully) *nervous laugh*.
You guys can ignore this absolute yapping if u want but it’s really something that I must get off my chest because I think about it an unhealthy amount and make up too many scenarios for each of them in my head with themes and certain plot lines included. Plus, I feel like some of u are absolutely gonna eat this up lol.
But… here are my individual hot takes for both Matt and Chris and what kind of coming of age films they look like they’d star in + with specifically random but accurate details included. (Obviously these are all my own ideas and they may be vastly different to someone else’s, but I felt as though tumblr was the perfect place to brain dump this onto all of u lovely readers)
Matt:
Tumblr media
So first up is Matt. Matt gives very much one of those low budget indie coming of age movies where the quality may not be as good but the cinematography is beautiful, as is the plot line. Matt’s movie is the kind of movie you would go to watch and sob at for the entire time because it’s so irrevocably soul-crushing that it tears your heart up piece by piece. If he were to be in an indie movie I feel like it would low-key give off the same kind of energy as something like ‘All the Bright Places’ or possibly even ‘Five Feet Apart’.
Something absolutely tragic is bound to happen in Matt’s movie, and I feel like him dying due to some kind of terminal illness is a high possibility because I don’t know why, it just fits his vibe in a really weird way? Like- his coming of age movie has to be unbareably depressing for some reason.
He’s delicate and gentle, one of those really interesting characters that has so many layers/complications to him. Him and his main love interest share such an odd but heart-warming relationship that you just can’t help but be stuck thinking about the movie days after it’s finished. It bothers you so much that their happy ending was just out of reach.
For the soundtrack, I’m mostly getting Phoebe Bridgers vibes (specifically her Punisher album), something that’s mind-numbingly sad and fits the overall heartache of the cinematography so well that you just want to cry whenever something like ‘Smoke Signals’ or ‘Halloween’ plays beneath the ensuing dialogue. Also, in addition to Phoebe, I also get heavy Current Joys vibes such as ‘In a Year of 13 Moons’ and ‘A Different Age’. The very thought of imagining it makes me want to flat out sob.
Outfit / aesthetic wise for Matt, I envision very much warm brown leather jackets and baggy blue jeans with beat up sneakers and knitted sweaters. He always carries a tattered notebook and drives around a beat up pick-up truck. He smokes red Marlboro cigarettes and constantly seems to have one neatly tucked behind his ear (what-? It would literally look so pretty matched up with his beard and fluffy hair combo… don’t kill me). He’s shy and likes to keep himself to himself but is also hopelessly in love with our main character that also sort of keeps to herself, so he decides to pursue her before it’s too late.
I also feel like this Matt would for sure write 100 love letters to the main character but she would only discover them hidden within his notebook after he had died because when he was still alive he would never tell her what he was writing down whenever they shared moments together. Possibly Matt never got the chance to confess his feelings whilst he was alive, so they stayed forever friends and nothing more right up until he slipped through her fingers at the very end…?
(Bye I’m sobbing, why the fuck does my mind have to be so vivid and imaginative??)
Chris:
Tumblr media
For Chris I feel like it’s a little different. His coming of age movie would definitely be a mix between a light-hearted comedy of the classic ‘underdog that finally gets the girl’ whilst also incorporating really important life lessons into the mix of the colourfully bursting screenplay. In contrast, the cinematography is just as beautiful as Matt’s, but in a hazier way, so I’m getting very much party + late night hang out vibes from what Chris’ gives off. This includes darker, more moodier lighting, almost like ‘Euphoria’ in a way. I think his movie would more so correlate with either something like ‘Perks of being a Wallflower’ or even something like ‘10 things I hate about you’. I think the added comedy matches up with Chris’ personality in real life perfectly.
There’s definitely got to be one of those cliche scenes where they lock eyes at a party and all of the other guys on the football team are staring at the most well-known girl in school but Chris only has eyes for our main character. There’s some form of blue/pink/purple flashing lights and everything seems to take place in slow motion as they tentatively peer at each other from opposite sides of the random fish tank before them (Romeo and Juliet style) or some other form obstacle in the way.
For Chris’ soundtrack, I’m thinking something a little more upbeat, and I was possibly debating on Lorde, her songs fit Chris perfectly in my opinion, and no one understands the young mind quite like she does. The emotional vulnerability of her songs mesh together beautifully with Chris’ love language of touch and teenage curiosity and I can just envision something like ‘Perfect Places’ or ‘Hard Feelings’ playing over the back of one of those ending monologues where the movie cuts to a bunch of different scenes as maybe Chris says something really sappy and sentimental over the top of them in his voiceover.
Finally, outfit / aesthetic wise for Chris, I would normally put him in his baggy light-wash jeans and then pair it with a white t-shirt and some form of a zip up hoodie with a backwards cap, but to be honest, most of what Boston Chris used to wear way back when works pretty well too. I’m thinking, typical high school student attire, he’s on the lacrosse team, and is always wholesomely trying his best to impress the girl he’s had a crush on for years with his skills, giving the movie that light, feel-good atmosphere that leaves you with a fuzzy glow after you’ve rewatched it for about the 5th time.
(Again, actually sobbing, I wish these two brief ideas of movies actually existed wtf)
Author’s notes: I’m sorry if this is literally so stupid but I think about it so much, and I think about a lot of other possible movies the triplets look like they could star in. In fact, I even have a whole entire second series sitting in my camera roll of me explaining what horror movies I think each of them would look good in, so if u guys end up liking this one, then I would consider giving u a breakdown of my horror movie ideas if anyone were to wish it hehe. But thank u for listening to my rant and I hope it makes as much sense in your head as it did in mine… 🎀
People who I think would entertain this yapping and enjoy what I have to say here: @luv4kozume @luverboychris @lovingmattysposts @luvmila444 @rootbeerworshiper @nicksmainbitch @lacysturniolo @thesturniolos @strniohoeee @asturniolos @sturniolosreads @sturniolosstar @meanttomeet @sturniolowhore @mattscokewhore @matthemunch @mattestrella @vecnasnose0 @ellie-luvsfics @imwetforyourmom @breeloveschris @kvtie444 @stursweet @bernardsgf @fake-sturniolos @mattslutt @1800chokedathoe @orangeypepsi

this was so cute and so self-projecting kqedjewfkqd thank you for requesting! and sorry not sorry to the team jeremiah girls!!🫶🏽
.
If there was one mistake Max made when it came to your relationship, it was agreeing to binge tv shows with you.
And yet, he fell for the trap every single time.
Personally, Max was never one to get overly invested in tv shows or movies. He would enjoy them, there were a few he wouldn’t mind rewatching on the odd rainy day. But he never got attached, whether it be to the show or the plot or the characters.
Not in the way you did.
He had to admit that he did find it adoring just how invested you got. If you liked the show, you were all in. You had your favourite characters and your comfort episodes. For the short time you watched the show until you finished, it was a hefty topic in most of your conversations. You got angry and sad and upset and excited over these shows. Max had never really experienced anything like it.
And usually—usually—he genuinely did find it adorable.
But sometimes there were moments like this one where he majorly regretted watching the show with you.
“I just don’t get how everybody can’t see the clear endgame!”
“Mhm.”
“Like, from music and cinematography and—”
“Mhm.”
“She has to end up with Conrad! She has to! I mean,” you paused for a moment as you let out a scoff. “Who would choose Jeremiah? He just lurks in the background with his creepy blue eyes and weird stare!”
“Mhm,” Max hummed like he had been doing for the last fifteen minutes before he paused. He frowned, opening his eyes to look over at you. “Wait, you don’t think my blue eyes are creepy, right?”
“Of course not, baby,” you murmured with a soft smile. “You have pretty ocean eyes. Jeremiah Fisher has the eyes of a white walker.”
Max snorted.
“I’m serious, Max. They stare into your soul.”
“I think you forget that I watched the show with you, Trouble,” he murmured as his eyes fell shut again, taking in a deep breath as he desperately tried to fall asleep like his body was begging him to do so.
But you had just finished the last episode of season two, you were riled up, and now instead of going to bed and cuddling with him like he wanted, you were sat criss-crossed on the bed as you rambled away about a show Max stopped thinking about the second the tv turned off.
“He is just the clear second option when Conrad is there, all dreamy and perfect and still in love with her and—”
You never got a chance to finish your sentence before Max had sat up, his fingers tangled in your hair as he kissed you mid-sentence. You felt breathless and flushed, and it didn’t take long for you to sink into his embrace as he pulled you back down onto the bed until you were lying on top of him.
“I know you’re angry but you need sleep,” he murmured against your lips as he settled his arms around your middle. “We both do.”
“Mhm,” you hummed, still a little dazed from the kiss.
“And I would prefer to have my girlfriend in my arms rather than talking about some other man being dreamy or whatever you said,” Max added.
You laughed lightly as you nuzzled yourself further into his embrace. “You are Team Conrad though, right?”
“Of course, Trouble,” he murmured and pressed a kiss to the crown of your head. “Now for the love of god, please fucking go to sleep.”

PHI ABL.
I watched Japan’s film His on viki rakuten, and it was SO GOOD.
Very beautiful slice of life cinematography that Japan does so well.
The story is so touching and i was instantly invested in the very real situation the characters found themselves in.
Something I really liked was that you never really got a strong sense of who was “top” and who was “bottom” and it was quite refreshing.
Have you sent it? Do you like it? I cried sad and happy tears watching this one.
His the Movie?
Not only have I seen it but Miyazawa Hio is one of my favorite Japanese Actors.
Tumblr media
The reason it doesn't come up much in this blog, is I don't really conciser it BL, more just high brow queer cinema. (Also I'm not wild about the ending.) But it certainly is quality.
You know it's a kinda sequel?
There's a prequel series of the same characters meeting as children, entirely different cast tho. Also called His (the series) or His - Koisuru Tsumori Nante Nakatta (AKA His: I Didn't Intend to Fall in Love, His: I Didn't Mean to Fall in Love, His: I Didn't Think I Would Fall in Love).
Eh, you know Japan and their titles.
Tumblr media
I like it, but it's chewy... work to get through in that quintessentially Japanese way. I think currently airing My Strawberry Film will be similar.
The same actor who plays young Nagisa in this series, Kura Yuki, is in the BL Kimi no Koto Dake Mite Itai.
Tumblr media
These are all Japanese arthouse style, which (while I appreciate) is not my personal preferred JBL lane.
Of all these, I like the movie .you're asking about best since I think this filming style tends to suit adult characters better than young adult.
Have you seen Life: Love on the Line?
It's in a similar vein. You might enjoy it too. The Director's Cut on Viki is excellent.

we need to talk about this music video i need to talk about this music video. the aesthetic surrounding the video. wow. like the old silent movies in black and white. even Taylor's movements seem to replicate the movements of the actors of the time. again: black and white. reputation, Joe, the falling out of love.
her dress!! it looks a lot like the one she wore to the grammys for the ttpd announcement!!
oh my the pills :( but they're backwards?? maybe they're not the pills she should take since they are still going to make her sick (and facing down) (Matty)
THE THIRD FRAME IS INSANE. i really love the cinematography here!!! (Rodrigo Prieto you are a genius)
i'm sure there are a LOT of easter eggs in the fourth frame. i would love if her face became the new The Man wall.
she has already taken the pill to forget him. we leave the cold empty hospital/asylum?? room and we enter into the tortured poets department. the office where all these detectives are going to trace down the evidence to know why did this happen. why they broke her heart.
there are a lot of books/songs = evidence????? and behind Post Malone we can see the archives in which this evidence is stored.
i just love this outfit SO MUCH. and the typewriter!!!!!
there's a lot to unpack here. a blue smoke comes out from him (blue = Joe) and a kind of golden?? smoke comes out from her (I once believed love would be black and white but it's golden from Daylight, the final song on Lover). maybe she tries to bring him back to her with her golden love but her blue sadness keeps them apart from each other. i also notice the fans on the ceiling. could this be a reference to us the fans like in But Daddy, I Love Him?? also the people that are typewriting don't have faces. we don't know who they are, they, the couple, probably don't know who they are either. these people that they don't know are writing abou them. theorizing and creating their own evidence.
this frame reminds me of the one from the Out Of The Woods music video with Taylor's silhouette. i'm not sure about the meaning behind all the papers in which they wrote the evidence of their relationship. they are on the floor messy and around them but they don't care. they are in love. is their story written on these papers? is her story and that's why they create her silhouette?
these are just a couple of my favourite frames because THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL SCENES
LOOK AT THEM
AND LOOK AT HER. she feels so loved :(
but now she doesn't feel loved or love towards him.
he knows he's letting her go.
she tries to grab his hand, and he does, but the scene finishes before they can actually hold hands (this frame is beautiful)
they're experimenting on her. opening her body to understand what she's feeling. like she does on this album. he's also part of this experiment. and the black dog!!!
well. this is what she's feeling. "I love you, it's ruining my life".
ETHAN HAWKE?????
she's hurting.
he knows but he doesn't help her right away.
he finally helps her. but maybe it's too late.
i'm sure i'm wrong but maybe here he's trying to deal with his own thing and she is the one who has to pick up the pieces, in the form of rain, like tears. they're up on a hill, there's a storm. it's not an ideal scenario.
she's destroying the evidence. their story.
burning it.
in the end he deals with his own thing, goes back to her and they finally hold hands. but she's still above him. protecting him from the rain.

Beau is afraid... of his mother. That’s it. That’s the whole movie. I just saved you the pain of sitting through 3 hours of beautiful nonsense, annoyingly nightmarish distractions and the paranoid delusions of a pathetic mommas boy.
Joaquin as always commits to the role but I hated this character. He’s such a sap and a coward and at some point (early on) I didn’t even care how much hell he was going through. I didn’t cheer it either, I just didn’t care about him or his problems. Actually that’s not true, the more he said ‘I’m sorry’ the less sorry I felt for his pain.
It’s trying to be a dark comedy, but I didn’t laugh, chuckle or anything. Not even once. It’s not funny or scary, or even that dramatic. It’s just this weird pathetic sad sack stumbling through life because his mom fucked him up and he has enormous testicles. There is an uneasyness to the movie, because you are experiencing beau’s anxiety and mental illnesses. We are seeing how he sees the world, and that idea is good until you are in it for more than 10 mins and want to jump out the window.
It’s really a shame too because ari aster is a really good filmmaker and this is a really well put together film. A lot of gorgeous set design and wonderful cinematography. But all in service of a meandering story that is not compelling, a protagonist who’s so passive and irritating you don’t care at all about him, and a unsatisfying ending. When you have these surreal dream like movies you want there to be some deeper meaning to what’s going on, but i didn’t see any.
And at the end where there was like his ‘trial’ and the lawyer, played by richard kind, is just belting out the accusations from his mom, you finally realize, that that is all there is to this movie. This is what it all was building to and it’s disappointing and you can’t wait for it to be over.

Something I had been thinking about a bit....
Art: “Will you still love me no matter what.”
Tashi: “What am I, Jesus?”
Art: “Yeah.”
That scene is so sad, because Art does everything she wants him to do. He becomes the tennis player that she wanted him to be (especially when he won the match against Patrick). Tashi did talk to him more, when Patrick and Art met Tashi for the first time. She had that date with him, and she kissed him first instead of kissing Patrick. She married him and had a kid with him. (side note: I think that Lily was an accident, and that's partially why Tashi's mom is seen taking care of her most of the time.) Art loves tennis a lot but I doubt he would have done it for so long if it hadn't been for Tashi wanting him to continue and do the best he can possibly do. Above all the movie is outstanding with so many parallels and beautiful cinematography.
p.s this is just an idea i wanted to put out for myself.

hello can you spare a few minutes of your day to see me spiral about dune?
when dune part 1 came out in 2021 i didn't give it any fucking attention, i thought it was another overhyped blockbuster designed to fail (i didn't know it was directed by villeneuve, who i love) and i was sooo sick and tired of seeing timothée chalamet's face and hearing about him
well.
now part 2 came out and it instantly had 93% on rotten tomatoes and 4.5 on letterboxd and people called it a revolutionary cinematic achievement and i was like 😶 damn. maybe i was. cómo se dice. Wrong
so i watched part 1 in my home and i was Blown away by it. i didn't think it was possible for a movie to have cinematography and visual effects THIS good. the story was a little hard to follow but i took my time with it and allowed myself to go back whenever i pleased and wrote out the names and locations and motivations and it helped so much!!!! i fucking love it to bits, and i became so excited to watch part 2 (on a theater!!!!!!! i love going to the theater and i Knew part 2 would be a Theater Movie)
so. i watched part 2. and. i don't even know how to properly convey this but i feel like i had a religious experience in that movie theater. i genuinely feel like cinema was invented especifically so that one day this film could be made. like the entire 120 years of cinema we've had have all culminated in this
by far the BEST movie theater experience i've ever had and i'm soooooooooo invested in this story and the acting and (again) the cinematography and visual effects. what WAS that. i've never seen anything like it. like i'm aware it was a book before and a fucking revolutionary and influential one at that but to be Truly honest i had never even heard about it? like Now i know it inspired everything sci-fi related that came after it the same way lord of the rings inspired everything fantasy related that came after it. but genuinely i had never heard of it and i feel like that's such a shame
but at the same time i'm not sad about it at all bc i'm so glad i got to experience this film with fresh eyes and a fresh perspective and just allow myself to be blown away by it
i don't even have to say anything about the cinematography and the visual effects. we all know they're game changing and will be talked about for years to come bc For Sure they've now become a reference for what blockbusters should aim for at a Minimum
the soundtrack and the sound design. they sounded earth shattering in a cinemark xd movie theater so i cannot imagine what it must be like in imax (and i'm fucking Going to see it imax in the next couple of weeks if it kills me). they fit the movie perfectly and were detrimental for the immersion and the world building
the production and costume designs hello?????????????? they're so unique and so well done and so gorgeous and say so much about the story and the characters and help build the world and immerse the audience so much. everything is so thought out and lived in and just plain beautiful. damn
the screenplay. i'm such a sucker for political sci-fi stories but they're Very hard to pull off and most importantly they're very hard to convince me enough to suspend my disbelief. but this one. THIS ONE. the cautionary tale of a supposed messiah forced into this role that ends up usurping his power to lead the very people who believed in him into war and loss is so. SO poignant and so up my alley i can't believe i haven't seen More stories like it?? but truly how Can there be stories like it if this is one is so complex and so thought out and so satisfying to see unfold??? this feels like it was catered specifically to me, to what I like to see in storytelling and to How i like to see it being done
the acting. we got our zendayas and javier bardems and rebecca fergusons and austin butlers who all fill their roles beautifully and do a fucking A+ job at what they were Supposed to do. like i believed in them every step of the way, they truly were their characters and the movie only worked in huge part thanks to them
but
timothée chalamet. MAN. like i said i was never a huge fan of him and absolutely could not see the hype about him and was so tired of seeing his face everywhere. i truly thought before watching these films that he was cast as the protagonist just bc he's the perfect tolken conventionally cute/handsome young white boy but FUCK ME. fuck me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i'm now mesmerized by him. it was so so so important how he started out part 1 looking like this scrawny little boy who didn't know shit about the world. bc that gave him so much room to grow!!!!!!! his pain when having the dreams/visions and his conflict about being the duke's son and later on the supposed messiah, his want to feel a part of Something (and that something becoming the fremen), but later on evolving into this hunger for power and blood. god in the second half of the movie???? he's SO reverential and commanding and grandiose. the fucking way he holds a room in the palm of his hand is astounding, i genuinely didn't think he was capable of that. the way he carries his body and his voice!! the cadance he chose for his moments of imposing his messianic form onto the people is so on point. the scenes where he makes everyone kneel and bow for him made me cry out of sheer grandness of what i was witnessing. passionate cinema representing the journey of this pained boy who evolved into a godlike, tyranic status..............
i wanna live in this world a little longer. all i wanna do is rewatch it and read about it and watch about it and talk about it.
denis villeneuve. the man that you are
