i think the diamond dogs should play improv games just bc it would amuse me, an ex theater kid, specifically

i felt something was off. as i held him close to me, the glass wasn't half empty to me anymore, it was overflowing. our breaths were rhythmic and in sync. i didn't want to leave.

he slept like a baby. his soft snores, his face, squished into my chest. he looked so perfect pressed into me.

'i can't disturb him', i convinced myself. just go back to sleep, and everything will be fine.

he grumbled to himself. was he still half awake? it didn't seem like it. instead, it seemed as if he was unknowingly trying to get me not to go. who could leave a face like that behind, because they "felt like they were too happy "? no one. i sure didn't want to be the first.

he opened his mouth and slapped his lips together, tightening his arms' grip around my waist.

"you're not asleep, are you?" no response. i slowly pulled his arms off of me in an attempt to slide out the bed - with as little noise as possible.

"goodnight, my love." i placed a kiss on his forehead and smiled. i didn't want to depart from him just yet. he looked so precious and tiny. or maybe he looked like an ordinary person, and i was just madly in love.

i took hold of my things and unlocked the door of his window. i dreaded going back home. i longed to be in my own bed, but by the time i got there, i'd be craving the soft atmosphere of the pink LED lights in his room and the smell of old comic books and cologne.

stop it. i shook of the thoughts and prepared to make my way out of the small window and back into the cold. i stuck my leg through, wincing at the feeling of the icy breeze on my toes.

dammit. i'd left my shoes in the hallway.

"where are you going?

dammit dammit dammit.

my head snapped back as i met his eyes. his big, beautiful, sleepy eyes.

"home."

his gaze intensified as he shuffled from under the covers.

"but can't this be your home tonight? well... i'm here." he peeped, hastily making his way out of bed.

"no, no, go back to sleep."

"no. i'm going with you."

"no," i whispered. i pulled myself back through the window and shook my head.

"you need the rest, and you have no shoes."

"forget the shoes - you need the rest more than i do."

"i think i'd get more of it if you were with me."

"i-"

i paused and looked at my feet. my socks were thin, and if i went into the hallway i'd wake his dogs who, quite literally, would go ballistic, alerting every person in his house that i was there.

'hey," he whispered. "restez avec moi." i averted his gaze as he grinned and raised a brow. "please, my love?"

i sighed and bit the inside of my cheek. this could possibly be a horrible idea with even worse outcomes or... it could be fine.

"should i?"

he giggled and nodded, patting the empty space beside him.

"you absolutely should."

my body forced me back into his bed, except this time, i was okay with it. happiness should be normal. i was going to make it normal for both of us.
