[image description: three banners comprising five heart shapes made of five rows of crosses, akin to cross stitch. Each row is four crosses high. A single cross fills the space between the hearts, separating each from the next, while a row of crosses high extends across the banner above and below the hearts. The banners are coloured, respectively, to match three different pride flags: alterous (yellow/grey/pink/red), aplatonic (purple/blue/lime green/cream) and queerplatonic (yellow/pink/yellow/grey/black). Each banner is shown in two versions: one with a gradient background in matching flag colours, the other with a transparent background.]

I'm going through the flags saved to my computer in alphabetical order, minus the ones I made yesterday.
Please feel free to make requests, especially including xenogender flags!
All the posts I make of these will be reblogged to @rjalkers-pride-phone-backgrounds so they're easy to find! :)

Moodaplflux
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Image ID: Two images with a six stripe pride flag. The middle stripes are the purple, sky blue, green, and cream of the Aplatonic flag. The top stripe is dark blue and the bottom stripe is bright yellow. The left image has a symbol on it with a blue arch mirrored by a yellow arch and the right image has no symbol. / End ID]
Moodaplflux is a term for any neurodivergent apl whos aplatonicism is fluctuating due to their mood swings.
This was made with bipolar in mind but can be used by any neurodivergent apl that feels their mood swings affect their aplatonicism.
The symbolism is pretty simple, blue for negative/down moods and yellow for positive/up moods. The symbol both means a frown/smile and mimicks the arch or movement of a swinging motion.

[Image Description: A flag with five horizontal stripes. From top to bottom the stripes are yellow, spring green, blue, lavender, and purple. In the center is the seven-pointed otherkin star. End ID]
New term: Shiftplatonic
This term describes an aplatonic identity that fluctuates based on mental shifts. It is exclusive to alterhumans. I made this for @talon-dragonbeast, but it's for anyone who relates to these experiences.
The yellow stripe represents the presence of platonic attraction, since yellow flowers are often used to represent friendship. The green stripe represents the spectrum of platonic attraction, as well as fluctuating platonic attraction. The blue stripe represents aplatonicism, and is taken from the aplatonic flag. It is at the center because it is the core of this identity. The two purple stripes represent nonhumanity, and are a reference to the purple in the alterhuman symbol.
Tell me if this looks too much like an existing pride flag. If so I can make an alt flag.

do you know what the colors in the aroace flag represent? i’m aroace and just realized i don’t know the meaning of my own flag
Honestly my opinion is that the meanings of the colors don’t matter as much as what the flag conveys when you look at it so I actually don’t know what individual stripes usually mean lol
But like i look at the bi and pan flags w pink, blue, and purple/yellow and i can understand they represent people attracted to multiple genders bc pink is usually used to represent femininity/women, blue usually represents masculinity/men, and purple and yellow are often used to represent nonbinary ppl bc purple is a combo of pink and blue and yellow is the other primary color besides blue and red (pink). So when i look at the flags i can understand what they represent.
Some people do really like assigning meaning to each color like green for community or blue for magic or orange for acceptance but honestly those colors by themselves to me do not invoke those ideas and while it’s nice to say this is what all the stripes represent, it’s not really as important to me personally. That’s actually why I think a lot of new pride flag designs are pretty ugly and don’t really work because they don’t actually convey the identity behind the flag they just assign random meanings to random colors. I saw one flag where it said orange was representing masculinity and like light blue was representing happiness and like those colors don’t mean that. you can say that burgundy represents platonic attraction but if you showed someone burgundy and ask them what they think that color means they’re not gonna say that because that’s not the colloquial color meaning for burgundy.
Like I’m gonna be honest here off the top my head I cannot tell you what each stripe of the aro flag means but when I look at it I get a lot of meaning from it. for example green is the opposite of red, red is usually color associated with romance so an identity where people feel a little to no romantic attraction being represented by green, the opposite of red, is in my opinion a smart idea. I like the white gray black stripes because I think they do a good job representing a spectrum as well as representing I guess a lack of attraction, a lack of color therefore lack of attraction.
And I think it just looks nice overall with the simple gradients that would be easy to re-create with a pack of markers or pony beads or scrap fabric or anything. flags should be able to be re-created super easily using basic colors in my opinion. when you start adding all these fancy colors and all these specific shades it becomes really hard to make a flag that is easily recognizable and easily re-credible and easily used in general.
Sorry for the huge ramble though, i got an art degree and design classes i need to put to use lol. Here are the meanings directly from the creator though:
Two shades of blue - The aroace identity as well as the spectrum of aroace identities and experiences. The color is between aromantic green and asexual purple
White - Wholeness, used to represent aroaces who are aplatonic, nonamorous, or otherwise not seeking a committed partnership, and also how we are all whole people on our own.
Yellow - Love and relationships that exist outside of conventional and amatonormative ideas of romantic and sexual relationships.
Orange - Community. Orange, like blue, is in between ace purple and aro green on the color wheel, just in the other direction. This represents both the unity of ourselves as aroaces as well as our places in both the aro and ace communities.

externaspec: an umbrella term for anyone who feels that their aspec identity is affected by, directly tied to, or caused by some external factor. for example, a caedo- person who also identifies as aspec fits under externaspec.
for anon! the green stripes represent any form of external factor (since green is the color of nature, it metaphorically represents things ‘outside’ of oneself), the purple stripe is inspired by the mad pride flag and thus represents people who are aspec due to mental health factors, the blue stripe represents medicine and thus externaspec people who are aspec due to medications and other medical factors, and the grey stripes are for being aspec! i decided not to try and include all the various aspec (asexual, aromantic, aplatonic, a-aesthetic, etc.) colors and just settled on grey for simplicity.
(disclaimer in case anyone is worried: this term and flag were not created to support the idea that people are only aspec because they take certain meds, have certain disorders, etc., it’s for those who feel that they legitimately would not be and/or would not identify as aspec without certain factors affecting them.)
flag id: a flag with 6 stripes. in order, they are dark green, purple, dark grey, grey, light blue, and dark green. end id.

[ID: Ten images, all different versions of an edited photograph of a cat.
The cat is a small, short-haired tabby with some white below her nose, orange on and around her nose, and some pale orange marks on the stripes above her eyes, with the rest of her visible fur mostly brown and black. Her eyes are orange, and narrowed slightly, making her appear disapproving or annoyed. In front of her is a black laptop with a red outline around the mouse pad.
The first version has a transparent background behind the cat, and the second version has a white background.
The other eight have different pride flags as the background.
The flags are in order from top to bottom and left to right:
Ace, with stripes of black, grey, white, and purple.
Aro, with stripes of green, light green, white, grey, and black.
Aplatonic, with stripes of dark purple, medium blue, green, and cream.
Aspec, with stripes of green, yellow, cream, blue, and purple.
Nonbinary, with stripes of yellow, white, purple, and black.
Trans, with stripes of blue, pink, white, pink, and blue.
Feligenos, with stripes varying widths: very dark brown, dark brown, brown, dark orange, gold, white, gold, dark orange, brown, dark brown, and very dark brown.
An updated progress pride flag, with sideways triangle stripes on the left of, in order from center to outer, white, pink, blue, brown, and black. The horizontal stripes are: purple, pink, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and dark purple.
End ID.]
new reaction meme lol: Disapproving Dani
Dani decided she was gonna come sit with me while I was on my laptop so I got my phone to take a picture of her and this is the face she was making, lol...
Now she's asleep next to me like a little baby.
feel free to add more pride flags, and use as a reaction image :) Please try to include image descriptions whenever you use it, even if you just say "a cat staring disapprovingly into a laptop screen".
I think it'd be even funnier to edit more annoyed-looking cats in behind her to join the disapproval.

Aplatonic Masterpost
(I use italics in this post for stuff that is more my commentary/analysis/etc, as opposed to more “factual” summary)
Aplatonic Definitions & Overview:
“Aplatonic” was coined on AVEN in 2012 in a thread here by a homoromantic Ace who expressed being unable to apply the word “love” to their friendships.
The original coining doesn’t come with a particularly precise definition, and there’s been many discussions regarding differing definitions for it.  The following are two definitions which are often considered accurate for the term:
Definition 1: Aplatonic is an identity for people who experience little to no platonic attraction such that they rarely experience squishes, or desire to form a friendship with specific people.
Definition 2: Aplatonic is an identity for people who struggle to form platonic relationships of any kind, often due to neurodivergency and/or traumatic experiences.
Another definition which has been attributed with aplatonic, but also disputed as a definition, is this:
Definition 3: an identity for people who do not experience attraction such that they would want a queerplatonic relationship.
This third definition would be more accurate for the term “aqueerplatonic”, but was misattributed to the term aplatonic in the past.  However, while this is not an accurate definition for aplatonic, the lines between platonic and queerplatonic attraction can be extremely blurry such that this may be relevant to some aplatonic experiences.
Other notes on Aplatonicism:
Aplatonicism also has an Aplatonic spectrum which includes identities such as demiplatonic and greyplatonic.
Aplatonic is a term generally used by people who are a-spec(Ace or Aro) and/or neurodivergent.
Aplatonic is NOT simply “not having/wanting friends” (it has historically been dismissed as such by exclusionists who mock the term, unfortunately).
Aplatonic can be shortened to “apl”, and thus apples are considered an aplatonic symbol.
(More information and links regarding definitions of aplatonic are below under “Aplatonic Discussions”)
Aplatonic Pride Flags:
Tumblr media
[Image Description: aplatonic flag with 4 horizontal stripes which are purple, blue, green, and light yellow/cream from top to bottom]
This was the original aplatonic flag, the oldest surviving link of it is found here, from 2015.
Tumblr media
[Image Description: aplatonic flag with 4 horizontal stripes which are black, grey, white, and yellow from top to bottom]
This was an alternate aplatonic flag proposed in 2016 (link here).
(More information on these flags can be found at this link from lgbtq wiki)
Aplatonic Spectrum & Demiplatonic:
Aplatonic Spectrum, or apl-spec, is an umbrella term for people who experience little to no platonic attraction. (AUREA’s definition here)
Aplatonic Spectrum Flags: a masterpost with many aplatonic spectrum identities, their definitions, and their flags.
Demiplatonic Overview: a post I made about my involvement with the term demiplatonic and demiplatonic flags
Experiences Feeling Demiplatonic: a post I did for carnival of aros about why I feel demiplatonic
Aplatonic Discussions:
Over the years, there’s been a lot of misinformation and general lack of clear accurate information regarding this term, such that there’s been many discussions regarding the definition.  As someone who is somewhat younger to the community I probably also contributed to misinformation at times due to the sources I was looking at being themselves inaccurate.
The above definitions are what I can best summarize from the posts I have seen discussing it but might be influenced by my own experiences and I don’t want to claim expertise and argue those as objective fact, considering how much differing discussion there has been. So, here’s links to various discussions regarding the definitions & misinformation around this term, such that you can assess other sources for yourself.
Links regarding aplatonic definitions & History:
Link 1: “Definitions of Aplatonic” thread on Arocalypse Forums
Link 2: Tumblr thread refuting “not wanting qpr” definition, with many people adding to discussion.
Link 3: Tumblr thread refuting the “not wanting/having friends” definition that originated by exclusionists, and other misinformation on the term.
Link 4: an older Tumblr post with an infographic of aplatonic, with more recent comments by the OP about inaccuracies.
Link 5: another tumblr thread about the definition of aplatonic and ways people originally used it, and touches on why some people are uncomfortable with non a-spec people using it due to misuse by exclusionists.
Link 6: tumblr thread about aplatonic definitions and it’s usage relating to the a-spec community along with neurodivergency and traumatic experiences.
Link 7: tumblr post discussing who can “use” the term aplatonic and discusses history of how meaning has warped over time.
Link 8: Tumblr short masterpost regarding aplatonic as a descriptor term used by aro community.
Related Terminology:
There are various terms that have similar but different meanings to aplatonic (which also come up in the linked discussion posts.  The word being defined has hyperlink to a source.)
Nonamorous:  a lifestyle choice or relationship style that does not include intimate, long-term partnerships, whether romantic or platonic.
Nonpartnering: not wanting partnered relationships; this is similar to nonamorous but coined in response to some people being uncomfortable with the implied opposite of nonamorous because of romance repulsion.
Aqueerplatonic: not experiencing queerplatonic attraction.
Loveless (aro): a recent term for aros who do not use “love” to describe their experiences, often due to it’s associations with romance and enforcement of amatonormativity. (Sources don’t show a particularly precise definition for this one)
(Additional reading regarding these terms:
-This is one of posts linked before, but I had added onto it with distinctions I perceive between these words and aplatonic
-This is another post discussing nonamory and queerplatonic, and pressures within the community to feel certain ways)
Aplatonic Tags:
(the links are from searching tag & filtering for most recent)
#Aplatonic (general aplatonic tag)
#Actually Aplatonic (aplatonic tag that’s more specific to prevent random & troll posts, so is more of the good quality posts)
#aplatonic spectrum (more specific to aplatonic spectrum stuff)
#apl spec (alternate tag with more specific to aplatonic spectrum stuff though doesn’t have many posts)
#apl positivity (tag for aplatonic positivity stuff or other positivity that is relevant for aplatonic people, I encourage people to use this more)
#demiplatonic (tag for more specifically demiplatonic stuff.... I use this a lot on my blog.  Tag does have some more troll/mocking posts unfortunately though, so bewarned)
#nonamorous (not aplatonic specific but generally tends to have more positivity and other discussions of adjacent topics regarding not having platonic partnerships and stuff)
#loveless aro (another aplatonic-adjacent topic regarding kind of opting out of the concept of love as an obligation/universal human concept)
Aplatonic Blog recs:
