I like this shot because Scarecrow's off-model straw-hair is much longer than it usually is (barely brushing his rib cage). Makes him susceptible to someone aimlessly braiding it when he isn't looking.

Robin Musings, as per Barbara Gordon
aka The Oracle, former Batgirl, Ph.D. (Computer Science), M.Sc. (Intimidation)
Robin I
Hello fellow small crimefighter
We shall be friends
This is quickly developing into a crush
I suppose we could see where this goes :)
Dick you noob
A few years later...
Inspite of the fact that we broke up, I still find you on my sofa
But that is fine, we are bros like that
Also you are the only one I trust to mix my bath salts correctly
Yes, I'll hold your hand when you wax your legs
Robin II
Hello new Robin
Yes I am the head librarian
Of course you can hang out in the library with me
I'm... your hero?
Did you know that Dick still squeals like a piggy when he waxes his legs
Ah, bonding experiences :D
Robin III
I heard that you bullied Bruce into making you Robin
I approve, high five
I also told Bruce to get rekt
Yes, this is my computer setup
It's much better than Bruce's
He still calls me for troubleshooting help
Robin IV
Finally
Someone to pass the mantle on to
I have to train you in my stead, I am getting older now
I now deem you worthy of holding Dick's hand when he waxes his legs
Remember, it is our solemn duty to sass Batman
Robin III again
Ah you've returned
I see you're elevating Bruce's blood pressure by dating Superboy
Good work
You've taken the Robin legacy to new heights
Betcha Bruce thinks of me taking Dick's innocence as small fries now
Robin V
I'm confused
Are you Dick's kid or Bruce's kid
I'm just gonna go with Dick, on account of how he's fixing your peanut butter and jam sandwich
You're not menacing
Your sandwich has a jam heart on it
BONUS CASS
:D
Finally
You are the child of my heart
I'm going to steal you from Bruce
He will never notice
He probably thinks that Tim just grew his hair a bit longer

Female Doctor Who -- good for feminism..?
Would you allow me the small indulgence of permitting a slight deviation from the usual fare of this blog to comment on the news that the new Doctor Who is a woman ..? Thanks. Normal service will resume shortly.
So, to begin with I should note that my attitude towards the announcement could best be summed up as mildly optimistic and intrigued at the prospect. But I am also questioning whether this is such a big victory for women.
My reservations come in two forms:
First: fantasy and sci-fi has a bloody awful track record when it comes to women. Far too many of the big name female characters are just gender flipped versions of male characters... aka distaff counterparts (to use the trope term.) Supergirl is great, but she began life as a y-chromosome flipped version of Superman. Batgirl began as a flipped Batman. She-Hulk was a gender flipped Hulk. On tv, the Bionic Woman was a spin-off from the Six Million Dollar Man. In movies, the Invisible Woman and Bride of Frankenstein were... well, you get the idea. And so on... and so on... Spun off time and again, like Adam’s spare rib.
Even though I enjoyed many of these characters enormously, even as a kid I always thought this practice was sub-par; surely what the world needed (my junior mind thought) was female characters that were created from the start to be women..? And preferably written by woman too..! Didn’t women deserve more (my mid-70s second-wave noggin mused) than hand-me-down clothes, re-tailored to fit a more slender frame..?!
So when I heard recent discussion of a possibility of a female Doctor I was transported back in time to the 1970s, when the only way to create a popular fantasy female was (it seemed) to piggy-back on an established male franchise -- which brought me to the uncomfortable realisation that little had really changed in the intervening decades. Sure, today there are more great female-originated characters, but many of the most bankable characters are still distaff counterparts..!
Second: I sense a whiff of tokenism in the air, at least in some parts. When progressive self-professing pro-feminist male Who fans say they want "a female Doctor", I suspect that's just what many of them mean -- a (singular) female Doctor. A novelty woman, and then we go back to predominantly men again. But after a dozen men on the trot, shouldn’t the show stick with a female for at least half a dozen Doctors..?
If the series was to contrive a claim that gender swapping regenerations are rare, so the Doctor is stuck as a woman for the foreseeable future, then it would certainly make the sex change more interesting. Changing the character into a woman on a more permanent basis would do more to promote women in the sci-fi/fantasy genres than an occasional female hiccup in an otherwise all-male lineage. Perhaps fans should campaign to keep the Doctor as a woman for the next couple of decades or so (otherwise what's the bloody point..?)
Okay... so despite my mild reservations, I note that social media is already reporting positive reactions from junior female fans of the show -- and that makes even an old cynic like me smile. But... I just can’t shake the feeling that these young girls deserve more than a female version of Doctor Who. How about aspiring to female characters that are just as powerful, but intended from the very start to be women?
R5
(As a postscript, I note with amusement that while most popular male fantasy characters -- Dracula, Superman, the Six Million Dollar Man, etc. -- often have female spin-offs, popular female characters like Wonder Woman generally do not. At least, I can’t think of many examples.)

>sends his "love" (albeit a coincidence) a letter bomb >asks him to visit him in hell
Battinson might be the first Batman to listen to MCR but 2022 Riddler is a Green Day fan

My favourite inaccurate read on Batman Beyond is that I thought the show took place in 2019, not 2040. For over two seasons of the show.
Simply because the first sentence towards the plot of the show on Wikipedia was "The story begins in the then-distant year of 2019.". I never really paid enough attention (despite being insanely absorbed) in the ACTUAL show to see that was one of TWO timeskips in the first episode.
So the entire time I was thinking "damn Terry is not ready for Covid next year" and "I can't believe Terry was born in 2002" and "Terry I thought we agreed to never forget" in the episode Terry quite literally accidentally causes twin towers (shaped like a tuning fork) to fall

I hate when shows introduce a new character with flaws and are trying to convince me they're sooooo annoying and we should totally side with the og character that new guy is fighting with and I'm like. unfortunately I like the new guy better. I'm going to dig myself a hole to apologize.

I admire Terry's calmness in the situation because if some old woman told me she implanted a celebrity's DNA into my father so it'd be like if the random man was my dad (biologically) of which she later planned to kill both him and my mother to insight "necessary trauma" within me at 8 years old, and then justified her actions because "it was for the greater good" and then started quoting Bible verses to say she didn't "force" anything on anyone because God gives people free will, I'd be using that "God-given free will" to light her house on fire

"You're asking me for advice on handling women?" Bruce says in front of the most transgender and bisexual background the world has ever seen.

why am I crying at Bruce more or less taking Terry in. why am I moved. like I'm giving it 10 episodes before they get into a screaming match with each other knowing this franchise. regardless. I am emotional.

"the worst thing in shows is when there's a bad het couple front in center" NO the worst thing is when there's a bad het couple front in center BUT there's one or two ACTUALLY good het couples in the show and the show just DOESN'T focus on them. like they'll have a valentines day ep that shows the good couple having a date but then the rest of the episode focuses on the "drama" of the main bad couple like. let me see the good one!!! I don't care!!!!

Justice League and Unlimited were a mistake because it reminds me I love Wally as a character so much more than Barry and I'm not getting him again unless I settle for Kid Flash and I don't want to settle

I have to admit it's kind of impressive how poorly designed older Terry is. I guess that's what Being-Batman-While-Not-Bruce-Wayne does to your body
