See TT has people constantly saying Dick's a good person and a great hero, but that second story in #113 simply shows us Dick is a good hero by the way he risks his neck to deactivate the bomb. He even curls his body over the bomb to absorb more of the explosion in case he can't deactivate it in time. There's more authenticity in that. I can look at that and be like damn yeah that is pretty selfless actually. But when you constantly have characters telling me Dick's the greatest thing since sliced bread, or when you oversell his goodness, that feels, as Holden Caulfield would say, phony.
