Sorry if this has already been asked before but why did the band break up? And did they break up on decent terms? Do they still talk to each other sometime?
It has been asked before, I just never answered jshfbdjcbh I'm still piecing everything together and stuff is changing or getting tweaked all the time, so I'm always super hesitant about answering these types of questions, afraid that people will take whatever I say as the final answer. So basically what I'm going to answer now will already contradict what I told some people already. And maybe in the future the story might go a little differently too (although I'm pretty satisfied with the current events)
Uhhh, get ready for a long info dump. I didn't expect I'd write this much...
Floyd basically stayed with the band for 8 years (from 14 till 22) and got pretty messed up in the process. The rest of the guys are all quite older than him so I guess I could say they were more responsible, or at least had a better understanding of their own limits (also they grew up in this kind of environment or grew up aware of it, while Floyd was oblivious and naive about all of it) and while they do get drunk and do drugs often, none of them are really dependent on them. They are also pretty good judges of character and know how to avoid trouble. Floyd on the other hand drove in with no breaks and constantly got himself in trouble that the rest (mostly Les) had to drag him out of. He also developed bipolar during this time (in my story Floyd constantly fluctuates between being saturated and being desaturated because of this) and his manic and depressive episodes started getting out of hand after his teenage years. (None of them are aware it's a mental disorder that's making him act so out of character.)
Floyd was becoming miserable because of this and all of his problems pilling up, and started blaming Les for the way he was. Les never argued this which only fueled Floyd to blame him more. In the end he was getting so frustrated and irritable that Floyd constantly tried starting arguments with him, even putting him down and getting aggressive at times because Les gets very unresponsive and closed off during personal conversations (guy is a giant onion of suppressed trauma that Floyd is hellbent on peeling open).
Eventually there was one fight too many, terrible things were said, some objects flew through the air, and Floyd walked out (or Hed kicked him out, I haven't decided yet) with the promise of going home and never seeing them again.
So, yeah, it was very messy and Floyd was the primary asshole, even though he's not really to blame either...
But Floyd didn't make it home (was too scared to sneak through Bergen Town to get to the tree (i don't think i can judge him for that either)) and he just returned to the reckless lifestyle, this time without anyone being there to keep him safe. So if he was messed up before, this is the time period where he got absolutely fucked up. This is also when he got heavily addicted to sour worms. And when he chronically slept around (half the time just to get offered free worms or have somewhere to sleep, other times because he was having manic episodes and was feeling hypersexual). (This is also potentially the period when he had the two eggs with that techno troll, but I'm still thinking if I want that to be canon to the story or not.) During this time he also grew to become very anxious and his self-confidence went to shit when he was being himself.
Then after about three years of that, he bumped into Les at some party. He wanted to dodge him out of shame but Les grabbed his arm and manhandled him outside to talk. Floyd felt like shit about the way they had split up and tried apologizing for all the stuff he had said and done to Les, but Les wasn't having any of that because he wasn't angry at Floyd, he was just worried about him. Les is also insanely empathetic like Floyd, and he knew that Floyd never really meant any of it, and that he was just looking for an outlet when he was hurting. Also he does think he is to blame for the way Floyd ended up.
Tumblr media
Les wanted to know why he didn't go home like he had said (because that was the only reason Les had even let him walk out in the first place). A few exchanged words later and Floyd broke down telling him all the awful things he'd done, and Les promised to help him, feeling insanely guilty. Floyd wondered if he was allowed back in the band but Les made it clear that the band wasn't good for him and that he was never taking him back. Instead Les helped him go though rehab. I don't think trolls have those institutions (or at least not many are aware of them or how they work (I'm sorry but I refuse to believe the Trolls world has internet and cellphones, Mountrageons can keep that for themselves lol)), so it was more or less just Les finding Floyd a job and his own place to stay in the middle of bumfuck nowhere where he had no option but to detox, and constantly checking up on him to make sure he was doing okay. During this time they grew pretty close again. Or maybe the better term would be that Les slowly started putting his walls down again.
Hed needed a while to warm up to Floyd again. He's almost as protective of Les as Les is of him, and he resented Floyd for the way he had treated him.
Flea is pretty phlegmatic when it comes to any sort of arguing or drama. He was casual about seeing Floyd again, they were never super close anyway.
And Liv, she left the band when she and Hed broke up (haven't decided if that happened before or after Floyd left), so Floyd didn't get to see her again after bumping into Les at the party. And I haven't thought yet if they'd ever meet again somewhere later in life. But if they did, I think they'd both be happy to see each other.
Anyway...
Floyd managed to detox and successfully kept the job for about a year, but then he became manic again and messed it all up. After that he returned to his nomadic lifestyle, but he never fell as hard as those three years again. In my story Floyd's life is a constant cycle of getting his life together and fucking it up and booking to the next place. And he and Les are trapped in a never-ending cat and mouse game where they're both trying to fix each other.
So, uh, Les and Floyd are still very close and see each other somewhat often...
(sometimes monthly, sometimes yearly)
Yeah...
I am so fucking obsessed with them I'm gonna hurl. Please take this song before I combust:

I am so sad that I'm not a Solomon fucker, because if I was, I would have actually cared about the Bon Voyage event. It's kind of cute, but I am very apathetic towards good old Sol. What are your thoughts on it?
Sorry for getting to this late! I wanted to actually complete the event before I responded, and I got to it very last minute! (Since I have low-key kind of hated the events lately. I hate spending 2-6 minutes doing the songs only for five lines of text as a reward, it's almost painful, but anyways...)
Now, Solomon as a character, I love. I was very meh towards him in the original Shall We Date, but they really started working on his character towards the end, and in Nightbringer they really pulled it home! Now I love Solomon! Before, he was just kind of some sketchy little sorcerer that they usually brought in to help solve plot devices- and don't get me wrong, he's still like that, but we definitely get a deeper look into *why*.
He's an immortal human whose desire for power and knowledge was so great, he somehow went head on with nearly the entire Devildom, convinced Barbatos to make a pact with him, and then made Barbatos show him every experience he could, at least, that's what I remember from the lore dropped thus far. And what do you usually get when you get a human that knows and sees too much? A broken human. A human who feels like there is no purpose left. A human with mixed morals and a shattered ego.
Now, this part is just my own personal thoughts and theories, but Thirteen talks about how Solomon's soul used to be beautiful like MC's, but then it became ruined. I imagine it's because he 'flew to close to the sun' and it nearly broke him. MC has hope, has love, has so much to learn still, so much to give. I imagine when Solomon learned and saw everything he could, he had hardly any hope left. Nothing was new to him anymore. He spent so much of his life seeking knowledge, and once he finally got it all...what was left? It corrupted him, surely. But then, clearly, somewhere along the line, his new purpose was to protect and stand for the human realm. Then his dealings with demons began.
The game always talks about how Solomon is now closer to a demon than a human. But I think that's because he *had* to "become" a demon. He has so many pacts, had so many exchanges with the Devildom, he had to learn how to survive amongst them. The way he withholds key information until the crucial moments. The way his "accidents" always seem to line up in his favor. The way his generous actions typically end up satisfying something of his as well. Exactly what a demon does. Exactly what someone would learn spending so much time around demons. I mean, that's exactly what MC learns how to do throughout the entire game! Play it smart, do whatever you can to earn the Brother's favors, and get their pacts. And then when MC throws that concept out the window and does things just to be selfless and then gets their pacts anyway? It almost breaks the "law" of the world that Solomon has come to know.
I'd like to think that maybe that's the reason why Solomon was sent to live with Simeon and Luke in Shall We Date. He needed to learn how to be around other beings, and maybe being around angels could correct some of that.
Now, about the event, the event was actually pretty cute. And while I have my general complaints about the events being very short and shallow, this one wasn't the worst of the bunch. Solomon getting some of the demon brothers together to give you a really nice dream is such a cute thing to do (even if he went behind your back to cast a spell on you). And also I'm not sure if it was stated specifically, but I'm like 98% sure MC and Solomon shared a bed at the end there, which is really adorable. I love sleepy bed cuddles.
This kind of ties back to my insights into his character, where he's spent so long being around demons that he's not really sure how to be a normal human anymore. He spends so much of his time planning and prepping how to do something for you when all he really needed to do was ask. All he wanted was a cute little date and to watch the sunset with MC and went through like a 100 step plan just to get it. And MC's little options to scold him for his schemes is really adorable in my opinion. Essentially it boiled down to them just saying "just ask next time, you idiot!". And Solomon being one of the smartest characters in the game being so lost and confused in terms of relationships and romance is really...very cute, which is why I think I like the concept of his character so much. I love when super overpowered characters have weaknesses like this, or learning new lessons.
I also loved the concept of just Lucifer, Asmo, Luke, Belphie, and Satan all just really hamming it up for MC. They preformed for them all just as a little thank you, and when they clarified, it wasn't really for anything huge. Shopping, helping them with decisions, just spending time with them, that was enough to fully convince them to pick up this dream-world-improv. Which...is really sweet.
Man I love these boys.

Good boy Tobi. Why is he acting this way?
"oh yeah, it was just Zetsu" a-ha, not even close. here I'll talk specifically why Obito resorts to roleplay, and why he is comfortable with the images of Madara and Tobi. (obviously because it's not being himself but let's dig deeper)
contents | responsibility · regrets · a sense of control · conclusions
Tumblr media
Vol. 31 CH. 280. Tobi's first appearance.
sure this looks like another defense mechanism that allows Obito to avoid reality, especially when interacting with people. full coverage, imitation of someone else's voice, name change, personality change etc. his clothes literally look like armor, and I'd like to think that hiding and protecting himself "just because it feels right" is exactly the point (no need in armor, he's intangible, so that's a psyche). the very way he completely depersonalizes himself shows that on a subconscious level he is not comfortable being in the conditions he finds himself. this alone may indicate that he is not very happy with his position of a faceless world saviour. and this is his first damn appearance.
Tobi is another manifestation of Obito's escapism, which is the central theme of his story. I have identified three advantages of using Tobi's image for Obito, and all of them will be described below. maybe you'll find some more, feel free to reblog and add your thoughts!
Responsibility
escapism is just stress-relieving. for him, the roleplay was a way to relieve tension from the responsibility that he had imposed on himself. "no one in the whole world can do it except me" must be really exhausting. so what if I just don't be myself for a while? what if I be the one who can make a mistake? it's important to be frivolous and let things go sometimes, otherwise the psyche will be disturbed even more. so, that's the first advantage, that allowed Obito not to go completely crazy.
Regrets
Tumblr media
CH. 652
as I said, Obito is not very happy with his position. even though he believes that tsukuyomi plan is correct, this doesn't negate that he is unhappy to fulfill it and suffer the hardships because of it.
during the war, we can see that Obito really regrets that he hadn't live his life the way he could, with his friends and dear ones. he began to ask questions: "could I have a better life?" "who have I become?" "who does my friend see me as?" these feelings burst out only at the culmination, before that they were deeply suppressed, with the help of detachment from reality, which Obito achieved mostly thanks to the image of Tobi. a ridiculous stupid guy who talks nonsense and does not pretend to be any role other than a comic relief. another personality allows Obito to distract himself from the real problems, which he can't reconcile.
Tumblr media
CH. 281 idk what an idiot. love him.
in order to avoid all these dangerous thoughts for as long as possible, he came to this escapist behavior. it is not only a convenient tool for manipulation (I'm not really touching on that in this post, though it's important too), but it also distracted him from all his regrets. though, it's funny that he still chose orange and purple colors that probably reminded him of the past.
A Sense of Control
it seems to me that this is the most important reason to pretend to be either an inept, complaisant fool or a legend of the Shinobi world. why these two extremes?
many events in Obito's life showed him that no matter how he acts, he will still be punished, which means he personally has no control over anything. during the exposition, he is late helping the old ladies, but Kakashi condemns him no matter what. during the first turning points, he commits morally correct actions in order to end up first being mutilated and isolated, and then lose the most precious (and only) thing he really had: friendship with Rin and Kakashi. in the end, he does not even have control over his own body until he learns to control the mokuton and gets used to the constantly breaking off or deforming limbs. Madara and Tobi appear as other personalities who are able to achieve control under certain conditions and give Obito the necessary mental stability.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
CH. 460
Madara is the epitome of control. the ghost of the Uchiha clan, the fear of which is alive many years after his death. by taking on a character who has more control than Obito did in real life he might feel quite cathartic and empowering, and it offered him a sense of emotional security (the mask helps with it physically, the personality and famous name — mentally).
while Tobi, besides an attempt to make up for lost childhood, is a demonstration of "the lowest standards" so that for once in his life, he did feel that he always met expectations, that more was not required of him. he's incompetent, he messes up, he's irritating, and therefore others don't expect anything else from him. yes, Tobi is judged and punished, but Tobi is not trying to be praised, so his own expectations are not broken.
Tumblr media
CH. 359
Madara's personality is convenient because it's dominant, it controls others, inspires them with a certain fear and submission. Tobi's personality is convenient because with its help Obito choose to show fear and submission himself whenever he wants, that is, it does not become an unexpected blow for him. I would add that similar mental mechanisms work in many types of traumatic experience (not talking about his sexual deviations like moderate sadomasochism yet, the man is clearly traumatized).
does it all work? obviously, yes. there's no point in explaining that this whole Madara thing worked perfectly. Tobi, although condemned by Deidara, is at the same time accepted and encouraged by him a bit, simply because it is pointless to expect anything from him. however, this works as long as the fictional personalities do not overlap, as long as others believe in the reality of both.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
CH. 396
another interesting topic is that Obito himself began to mix these personalities and demonstrate the falsity of one, which deprived him of the very opportunity to avoid reality (Madara clearly reminds him more of the responsibility on his shoulders than Tobi) and relieve the constantly increasing stress. therefore, starting from the moment when "Madara" shows that "Tobi" was just a cover, Obito loses the advantages of Tobi's image, suppressed regrets gradually surface, stress accumulates, the sense of control disappears for lack of any new personality other than his own (which has problems with control). and all these consequences falls on him during the war.
Conclusions
the reasons for this defense strategy appeared in Obito due to his low self-esteem, which was facilitated by the following. the early death of Obito's parents was most likely at the age when he was too young, and therefore psychologically this loss was fixed as "I was left because something was wrong with me. I can't be loved naturally, I need to deserve it first". because of that there was a constant attempt to be better, to reach the level of a genius opponent, who not only shows with all his appearance that you are not enough, but also constantly pokes you in your own shit like a puppy. and that's not the only situation where you're not that good. there's a lot, actually.
such an environment forms an attitude "to get recognition, I need to try harder than anyone else, because something is wrong with me". subsequently, this attitude is transformed into a new one: "I cannot get recognition in any case, which means I will achieve recognition, respect, attention through pretending and forming other personalities". and that's how Tobi appeared.
Tumblr media
I don't even know what to add at the end. it's just great that you can see the depth in Obito, even when he's acting like a moron. here's some admiration for this silly guy

Things I hope the devs of CotL don't do, but a part of me feels like they'll do anyways (or might already be doing):
Revive Ratau if we chose to sacrifice him. Like I said on a previous post, it would invalidate the weight of our decision, and would open the floodgates of "can we undo other heinous actions we do?" If yes, then why should we care about the events of the game if they can all just be undone?
Make the bishops so unlikable and unsympathetic to the point where the audience ceases to care about them. I know they already aren't the most likable characters due to their abrasive personalities (excluding Shamura), but people still find them tragic, so taking away that would just be the nail in the coffin. Unfortunately, this one already seems to be happening, if the description for the graphic novel is anything to go by.
Make Narinder seem like the good guy or otherwise have the story take a side in the whole "sealing of the one who waits" debacle. This kind of ties in when the previous bullet point (especially with the "already happening in the graphic novel" thing), but if they did this, it would feel like they're just pandering to the Narilamb fans by having the story bend over backwards for it.
Have the Lamb be this flawless, unstoppable, and perfect being who everyone (except bad people) loves and will never lose ever. This one is kind of self explanatory. If the devs decide to go this route, then I feel many people would cease caring about the conflicts if this game. After all, if the Lamb can't lose ever, then what's the point of caring about any the conflicts in this game of the Lamb? I will admit that this one is more of a "me" thing than anything else
Cure the bishops of their disabilities. Heal the injuries, sure, but not the disabilities, please. In my opinion, it would be very ableist to do this, as it would imply that the only way for the bishops to be truly happy is them being cured of their disabilities.
Have there be a "canon" interpretation of the Lamb. At the end of the day, the Lamb is a player-insert character, and the fun about those characters is that they can essentially be anyone and can have many interpretations. Making a "canon" Lamb would take away the fun of those characters. This ties into the other Lamb related bullet point somewhat.
Have the Fox and Midas become followers once we beat them. This is assuming we fight them at all, of course. This one is also very opinionated. I feel like getting them as a follower would be bad because it would A) imply they have a chance at redemption and personally I like the fact that we have at least 2 villains we can just hate (here's hoping to more!) B) let us treat them however we want, which means they could not get the punishment they deserve. And before someone says that you can do the same with the bishops (the whole "not getting the punishment they deserve" thing), they already suffered in purgatory, which counts as punishment imo.
Rely too much on toilet and "naked people are funny" humor. This one is another opinionated one. Personally, I'd prefer if we got more character-based humor (hell, maybe some surreal humor as well) than humor that only a child would laugh at. I do want to post this one on the suggestions channel, but I'm afraid of the backlash.
I'll probably add more onto this when it comes to mind

Nie Huaisang, Lan Xichen, Jin Guangyao, and Nie Mingjue all reincarnate together into PIDW, and become disciples around the same time as Luo Binghe.
The drama of this is of course enhanced by the facts that NMJ & JGY died "early," but NHS & LXC lived to the end of their natural lives as cultivators, and so some of their perspectives and opinions on events have naturally changed with age. (tfw the passage of time renders you unfamiliar to your once-loved ones)
Eventually they talk about their feelings and reconcile and such, and this ends up derailing the plot of PIDW severely as the rest of the PIDW characters confusedly observe quite possibly the weirdest disciples Cang Qiong's ever seen
NMJ on Bai Zhan, with no clue what's going on because he died first and NHS & LXC haven't told him anything
NHS on An Ding, thoroughly enjoying what's pretty much a vacation to him at this point and possibly running an interpeak illicit goods market (definitely not to distract himself from any of the emotions having NMJ & JGY alive and nearby would be causing him, Everything Is Fine) I haven't decided if he'd get involved with the whole og!SQH and MBJ situation tho
LXC on Qiong Ding, because I feel like he'd see himself in Yue Qingyuan and lowkey hate him for it and I think that could be interesting
JGY on Qing Jing, because he's the objectively the funniest/most interesting character to throw into the mess that is SJ and LBH. The way I imagine it, he's doing the most direct derailing of the plot, because he mostly accidentally gets right in the middle of the thing that is going on between those two
I feel like as I wrote this it became more serious than I originally intended so just know that I'm mentally picturing this like a fic that's interspersed with outsider POV of the 4 of them being completely deranged about eachother
(Also I'd feel bad taking away LXC's brother so LWJ and WWX + friends are busy doing hot girl shit being rogue cultivators. I think WWX should be a half demon so he gets to keep the cultivation and steal some of LBH's protagonist energy. If this was a fic then the rest of the Untamed gang would be perfect to use for side characters during off-peak missions)
*grabs popcorn and sits down to hear more*
Nie Huaisang is having too much fun waiting the two idiots called his shizun and shizun's poorly kept secret of a boyfriend go flailing around on these terribly unromantic dates BUT THE TWO WERE TRYING SO HARD that it was cute. He wonders if he should do something to help the poor idiots out... Should he?
Maybe he should...
(Watch Shang Qinghua and Mobei Jun suddenly have a number of sex pollen accidents over the next few months....)
Lan Xichen would be an old man and a good voice of reason for Yue Qingyuan. Although he's head disciple and a very good one at that (if only because his Big Brother instincts can't be held back and he MUST interfere to help prevent history repeating once more), Lan Xichen has made it very clear that he would never accept becoming sect leader.
Also don't forget Liu Mingyan in the background writing about a 4 person sex orgy. At least, that's her personal theory for why there's so much UNRESOLVED TENSION between these four sus male disciples. And also, because it's fun.
It's even funner when you consider that Nie Mingjue is out of the loop of Cang Qiong stuff even on Bai Zhan because he tags along on so many of Liu Qingge's missions that he's probably spending like 8 months of the year outside of the sect.
(Nie Huaisang gets "assigned" to missions that happen to take place near Nie Mingjue's hunts.)
Meng Yao is Meng Yao and he still craves the approval of Male Authority Figures That Could be his dad. Also Meng Yao still likes to climb up the social hierarchy and power. AKA Luo Binghe growing mushrooms in the corner at seeing ANOTHER QING JING disciple THE SAME AGE AS HIM being given SO MUCH ATTENTION AND APPROVAL by shizun.
Luo Binghe develops a complex over Meng Yao of course.
(Shen Jiu approves of Meng Yao because he understands these characters very well and know how to manipulate (cough kill or injury them physically or mentally) them easily. Plus Meng Yao is actually competent.)
[More in #Nie Huaisang Lan Xichen Meng Yao and Nie Mingjue reincarnate into PIDW and are Cang Qiong disciples at the same time as Luo Binghe is AU

Hi, love your work! Could I please request a headcanon with SatanxMC, author’s choice?
Hi there, anon! Thank you so much, I'm so glad you enjoy my writing!
Okay, so uh, since it was author's choice, I thought I'd do a little hurt/comfort. And oh man, I was in a mood 'cause MC is really going through it in this one. But the thing is, I really feel like Satan in particular would be like this. He's actually really good at balancing himself in a way none of his brothers are at all. (When he's not enraged that is.) And I think that gives him a different perspective on an MC who was deliberately suppressing their feelings. Anyway, hopefully it turned out okay!
Thanks for participating!
COZY COMFORTS EVENT
Tumblr media
It's another long day. And something inside you mumbles quietly of sadness - a constant hum that you had tuned out long ago. You have no reason to feel anything but a sense of progress and contentment along with the inevitable knowledge that there was always more to be done. You don't have time to focus on anything else.
Satan learns your patterns the first time he sees them in action. Perhaps it's the way you isolate yourself or maybe it's the strained sound of your voice. He notices when all you ever do is give your energy, passion, and love away. He watches it deplete you.
It takes some trial and error, but Satan figures out when it's all too much. He had to learn fast when he found himself unceremoniously ripped into existence, fully formed and full of rage. He knows how to adapt quickly. He knows how emotions that feel like they don't belong to you can be so overwhelming that there isn’t space for anything else.
Satan knows that you would never say it out loud, not to anyone. He sees that low melancholy in your eyes no matter how hard you try to hide it behind your smile. You don't want anyone to know, but you desperately want someone to see it, too. And he does. He always does.
He might start out with shooing his brothers away from you. Giving them glaring looks if they become too demanding. He can’t act as though he isn't also guilty of wanting your attention, your love, your friendship. He knows you like it that way because it helps you avoid the truth of your heart. It's easy to push yourself aside when others need you. He watches you bury yourself in the wants and desires of him and his brothers. Like your own don’t matter. Like your comfort is secondary to theirs.
Satan is going to ask you about it directly. It hurts. It hurts you both to talk about it and by the end you’ve both succumbed to tears. He knows you can’t hold it in forever. He knows you can’t pretend you’re okay for the rest of your life. It doesn’t work like that and he won’t watch you crash and burn. He’s been there too many times himself. That’s why he forces himself to ask you. He calls you out when you lie or somehow downplay your feelings. Don’t hold out on him, MC. Please.
Satan’s heart breaks as he watches your eyes fill with tears the minute he asks you why you’ve been sad lately. He knows this is what he needs to do for you, but he hates watching you in pain. You reluctantly start to talk to him and every word seems to be cutting you open. Every word becomes an arrow through his heart. And he realizes he’s able to stand it, able to hold this hurt, because he can also see it healing you.
Didn’t you heal him, too? Didn’t you calm his wrath in a way no one else ever could? Isn’t it the least he could do to make room for your sadness? Isn’t it the least he could do to hold it for you, just for a little while? He would take it all if he could. He would protect you from every feeling that wasn’t happiness or joy or love.
He can’t, so instead he holds you. He hates the way you shudder in his arms, like your body can’t contain the heaviness of your own heart. But he keeps you close to him, buries his hand in your hair, kisses your cheeks softly, his lips wet with your tears. He runs his fingertips down your back, he tightens his arms around your torso. He lets you stay that way as long as you want. He’ll hold you against his chest all night if you cry yourself to sleep there.
When morning comes, Satan is floored by the bright relief he sees in your eyes. For so long, you kept quiet and he watched you fade. All it took was someone to ask you, someone to listen, someone to be there to witness you pour everything out of your soul and into the night. Now you’re radiant again and beside that a gratefulness, a tenderness, a bond between you of a shared secret hurt that no one else has ever seen. You have carried him in his anger and he will always hold you through your pain.

TOJI FUSHIGURO | i bet ya'll can guess. it's the fucking worm.
you recognize that he needs the thing in order to fight, and that it is very useful in terms of combat, so you don't have the heart to tell him how much it freaks you out.
he legitimately treats it like a child. whenever you ask why he has to be so gentle with it, he tells you that he has to keep it in top condition so that it can store as many weapons as possible, but he feeds it. he gives it baths. he lets it sleep on a little dog bed that he bought at pet smart. you felt that maybe he was going a little bit overboard.
you've also caught him talking to it. it just really gives you the creeps.
he was so offended when you voiced your disgust with it. like, he held it up and told you that you made it feel bad, then demanded that you apologize.
"are you serious?"
toji just stared at you, one eyebrow raised as he held his worm out in front of him. it was staring at you with those beady eyes, and you couldn't help but crinkle your nose. no matter how many times toji bathed it, it still smelled.
"what's with the face?"
"i'm sorry! it's just so ugly..."
"it? seriously? he's a him."
"good lord, toji."
Tumblr media
GOJO SATORU | he's always late. he makes it his whole personality.
he likes to make an entrance, which means that he has to enter every room alone. since many people show up early to events, and even arrives on time, showing up late is his only option.
while that's all fine and dandy for him, when you are each other's respective dates for events either at the school or at your workplace, it becomes your problem as well.
one time, he really wanted to impress his students at a party that he decided to put together at the school, so he made you wait outside so he could enter alone.
"no, you won't have to go in alone! i'll go, then i'll come back out and we'll go in together."
sometimes he shows up late to fights. if he knows who or what he's fighting, he'll make sure he knows if it's a special grade. if it is, he claims that lateness will make him look cooler and more intimidating. this has led to many problems and many stern lectures from nanami.
the one thing he doesn't show up late to is date night. he says that you already know how cool he is, so there's no need.
Tumblr media
GETO SUGURU | when he eats curses.
on an objective level you understand. it's a necessary part of his technique, but the way that he decides to do it is so theatrical. you always have to turn away if he starts doing it in front of you, and then he gets all pouty.
you try to tell him that it's not because of him; it's just the idea of it that freaks you out, but he's not having it. you get the silent treatment for a little bit, and then the cycle repeats.
he starts doing it in front of you on purpose. like, he hoards those little curse balls, and then when you two have dinner, he'll be like "oh, i'm covered for tonight" and literally dumps like eight of them on his plate and gives you this smug little grin.
you try and act like it doesn't bother you, but then he sticks a fork in one and sticks his tongue out, making sure to accompany the movements with a loud "ahhh," followed by a satisfied "mmm" when he's swallowed it. this continues for all eight of the curses, and by the sixth one you've scarfed down your food and excused yourself from the table.
your last straw was when he asked you to feed them to him.
Tumblr media
SUKUNA RYOMEN | his god complex.
lets start by saying that this man would never be in a relationship. not a healthy one, at least. but for fanfic's sake, let's go a bit ooc.
he slowly but surely becomes used to the healthier aspects of being in a relationship, but he's also still the king of curses. sometimes, when he's annoyed with you, he says things like "one thousand years ago, i'd have crushed you under my thumb for saying those things" and "i can't believe i'm being told to 'get over myself' by a measly human"
with anyone else, it would be extremely concerning. however, you were the one who chose an evil, immortal curse.
you still tell him off, though. it can be really annoying when he gets all high and mighty. because while he is, he doesn't have to act like it all the time.
this complex also means that he can become very possessive. unhealthily so. if any other person even looks in your direction, he's about three seconds from wiping them from existence. while he is very secure in his relationship, and knows that you would never leave him (he knows what he looks like), he also knows that he has the power to do whatever he wants, so killing a few people who give you sideways glances won't hurt anyone. well, mostly.
you try to get him to calm down, but after a while it seems hopeless to even try. again, you knew what you were getting into.

In the scenario of Bruce arriving after some years, could you expand more about the good and bad scenario? Also, in the bad scenario what would Tim and Jason do. Would they pick a side?
I've linked the post to this ask for anyone new to it! For those who don't want to click on it, the concept is what would happen if, because Tim never found the portrait or something, Bruce safely spent a bit more time away in the timestream?
Regardless, I'd be happy to expand on it a bit more! There's a multitude of ways that Bruce could react to all of this, and it really depends on how someone hcs Bruce (canon has various versions of him). Feel free to choose whatever route you think is best.
So, when Bruce comes back after a few years, the family would have learned how to operate without him. He's simply not needed. He's wanted, he's loved, but he's used to being the center of the family. He's used to being the patriarch and deciding factor. He's used to calling the final shots.
When he comes back, Tim and Damian don't need him. By that point, Tim would be a legal adult almost in his twenties. Damian is used to deferring to Dick and Alfred for parenting and rules. Tim and Bruce would get into many arguments if Bruce tried to parent and restrict Tim. It would be similar to the 17 year-old Dick and Bruce, but Bruce hasn't been there the past few years (intentionally or not).
Damian and Bruce wouldn't know how to interact. Regardless of how close they were before Bruce "died," Damian has changed a lot. He's grown to accept that he doesn't need to prove himself, he doesn't need to uphold legacies, his place in the family is permanent (not based on good behavior, work, or blood), and he's loved. Despite that, Bruce coming back might dreg up those insecurities (especially depending on how Bruce treats the adoption).
In a good light, Bruce works with everyone. He spends time relearning his children, finding where they might have new boundaries, having many discussions on his role in their life, and assisting them with what they need. He doesn't enforce his expectations on them and maybe even seeks out family counseling. He would understand that time changes things and that the relationships the others have built were to support each other. As long as no unhealthy or negative relationships had developed (like codependency), then he should respect these changes and work with them to accommodate his sudden reappearance in their life. A good situation would be Bruce's appearance shaking the boat but overall making the family stronger with his connection to it.
Now... a bad scenario depends on a lot of factors and is, in my opinion, a more likely outcome. With this, we're gonna be using the more abusive comics!Bruce version.
Bruce, in this turn of events, would try to separate and damage the bond between Damian and Dick. He could do that in a multitude of ways, including emotional manipulation, emotional abuse, legal actions (anulling the adoption, restraining orders, etc.), physically separating their living situations, and assigning Dick long and distant missions. If Bruce was feeling particularly vindictive, he could punish Dick in various ways. There's subtle alienation, physical retaliation, grueling work loads, verbal abuse, etc.
This would probably be Bruce's main focus. He would also probably have issues with how the other Bats are running Gotham and how they now don't rely on him.
The way the rest of the bad scenario pans out depends on how Tim and Jason interacted up until Bruce arrived. In the other post, I mentioned that the two would either ignore/avoid each other or become close/teammates.
If they ignored each other, it would be easier for Bruce to exert control over them both. They are more independent, less supported, and less likely to reach out for help. He would have an easier time manipulating them while they are in Gotham. They would fight back, obviously, but they wouldn't have someone helping them. This could either be their downfall as they get sucked into a cycle of abuse with Bruce, or this could push them to rely on their siblings/the other Bats.
If Jason and Tim were closer or even became a team together, Bruce would be hard pressed to get them to fold. It's extremely dreadful and tiresome fighting against verbal/emotional abuse. You start to doubt yourself, your feelings, the events that occurred, your recollection, and whether you were justified. By the two of them working together, they can combat this approach by Bruce. Tim could collect evidence for whatever occurred and keep records. Jason could ensure that they met their emotional needs and enforced their boundaries. Manipulating someone alone, especially the two of them who are on the outskirts, would be easier than a team who supports each other.
Anyways, whether Tim and Jason take Bruce's side of Dick's really depends on their relationship with each other. They would support Dick, no matter their current grievances towards the man, if Tim and Jason were a vigilante team and like brothers to each other.
Also, an important note about the bad scenario is that it wouldn't play out immediately. There would be this relief and happiness that Bruce is home as he slowly tests out the boundaries until he manipulates the situation to his benefit.
Now, we could get into the other Bats too. Alfred might be on Team Bruce regardless. That would suck but it does fall in line with some of his bystander and enabler ways. Bruce has no control over Barbara, and they both know it. I like to imagine she would protect Steph and Cass to the best of her ability. She would give aid to the batboys, but she wouldn't be able to protect them as much. Cass is a toss-up on whether she would be able to protect herself against emotional manipulation by Bruce.
I'm hoping Duke is happy with his parents if this is the bad scenario. If he isn't, there could be tension because Duke didn't become a vigilante under Bruce's approval. Therefore, there would be a meta vigilante in Gotham that Bruce didn't approve of.
If this is the good scenario, dealer's choice on whether Duke's parents are fine while Duke becomes Signal prior to Bruce's return. He could be an independent vigilante the Bats provide support for without sucking him into the family.
Let me know if you want any more info, want more explanation, or you think it could go a different way!

Azula doesn't understand.
She feels like she already knows her, she feels like she's seen those beautiful blue eyes and that tender smile before, but where exactly? It was literally the first time she had been on that primitive planet and, therefore, the first time she had seen it.
"Azula, are you okay?" the voice of her older brother brought her out of her thoughts. Azula looked at the boy in front of her.
"Yes, Zuko, I'm fine," she answers flatly. Zuko frowned.
"No, you're not," says the boy with a large scar covering his left eye. "If so, you would have called me Zuzu" Azula laughed halfheartedly, knowing that she was right.
"Well, maybe you're right," the black-haired girl with golden eyes let out a sigh. Yes, she couldn't really tell that she felt good, although it wasn't that she felt bad either, she was just... confused, she had a vague feeling that nothing was what it seemed to be. "Zuko, don't you find this all strange?"
"Uh? What are you talking about?"
"I mean...don't you feel like we've been to this city before?" the queen-in-waiting mentions seriously, something that Zuko knows is unusual for her. "Or rather, don't you feel like we actually already know those kids?" Surreptitiously, the minor pointed to a group of teenagers who were sitting at a table near hers.
Katara O'neil, along with her brother Sokka and her best friend Mai Kuroda, were chatting calmly, or at least that's what they appeared to be. Azula couldn't really hear much of her conversation due to the noise in the cafeteria, even though she had an incredible sense of hearing.
Although there was one small word that she could distinguish from all the talk.
Trolls
"Well, I don't know exactly what to tell you, Azula," the Akiridian said. "I'd say it's just you, but I have to admit that lately I've had that same feeling, like deja vu, and I've also started having strange dreams"
"Strange dreams?"
"Yes, they're a bit blurry, but sometimes I see you and me with those three and with some strange creatures that I can't identify," Zuko explained, concern evident on his face. "In addition to wearing armor, especially Katara, who appeared as a being with..."
"Stone skin?" Her sister completed, and Zuko saw her surprised.
"As you know?"
"I don't have the slightest idea, but the only thing I do know is that beings like that are known as trolls," Azula said as she remembered that the day before she had dreamed about Katara being some kind of half-troll. "They are stone creatures that cannot be exposed to sunlight because otherwise they would become real statues of... stone? Oh, kleb, I think I'm going to go crazy with so many dreams I have, because I'm even starting to say things that I don't know completely about" she ran both hands over her face, it was obvious that the matter was stressing her out.
"It wouldn't be reasonable for you to become crazier than you already are," Zuko mocked, receiving a murderous look from the minor. "I think, Azula, that we should solve this on our own, maybe if we do a little research on this completely 'normal' city" the boy made quotes with his fingers. ", we could find answers to our questions, what do you say?"
"Ugh, whatever," letting out a small grunt, Azula massaged her temples.
The doorbell announcing the end of recess began to ring. Both brothers got up from their table and along with other students left the cafeteria, but neither of them noticed that a certain trio was staring at them.
[...]
Azutara+Tales of Arcadia?  Yeah.
Ok, to have a little context for this: this drabble would basically be set after the events of Rott, where the characters would slowly recover their memories from the previous timeline (thanks to Aaron Waltke for that headcanon post-rott)
In this case, those who would be recovering their memories little by little are Zuko and Azula. Sokka and Mai, whom I also mentioned in the drabble, are the ones who have already fully recovered their memories (they would take the role of Toby and Claire respectively, that's how crazy my AU is) thanks to Katara.
Katara would be the only one of the group who would have her memories intact, since she was the one who returned to the past using the time stone that was in the Chronosphere.
"Time develops differently, like a flower. Only the Trollhunter will know"
Oh yes, Katara would still be Trollhunter in the new timeline. I won't do the same as in Rise of the Titans, where Jim after returning to the past lets Toby keep Merlin's amulet.
Uff, I seriously have a lot of ideas for this Azutara TOA AU, especially since I would have fun writing about Azula being an Akiridian and how she dislikes humans except Katara.

okay. so a tim villain who shares an origin commonality with him. i wanna expand on this a bit more, actually.
like. i do like a good dark reflection (& none for u tommy elliot bc u suck and i hate you) because dark reflections are a good way of highlighting differences. and a tim villain who was in the same boat as tim ie/ just a normal kid at the circus with his family--none for u heartless--is a very fun way to me of a) being able to expand on the horror of going to the circus for a happy family event & it ending in the worst way possible and how that affects the audience and b) by giving another example of how a kid might've been similarly affected to tim allows us to really dig into how different families would've coped, or lack thereof, in a way that can bring us back to expanding on tim's childhood experiences following the circus (which is sorely needed imo).
because okay, obviously--tim wasn't special--he was just one of many kids at the circus that day. what ends up making him special is that his experiences *fundamentally changed him* in a way that soldifies his desire to do good, to be compassionate. like the idea that the drakes weren't the only ones who were out there taking pictures with the acts--it was a totally normal thing that ended up becoming a formative moment & it's not that tim was special--no, the photo was mundane--it's that tim's choices after the fact, to care, to find bruce, to have a desire to bring people together, are what ultimately make him special & worthy of the things he achieved and chose to do bc of his hard work & desire to do good.
so like. tim & villain tim. we start at the circus. two boys there, each with their parents, each end up taking a photo with dick. each is charmed by dick. i'd put some differences here--whereas jack & janet were nervous about tim's first time & received the comfort & tim got the promise of a quadruple flip. other family was maybe a bit pushier & demanding and got a photo with the graysons that way. tim is enamored about dick's smile & costume, villain tim is focused on how famous they seem.
obviously the fall & this makes a mark on both boys--tim because he's thinking about dick & villain tim because he can't believe these famous people just died in front of him. both boys develop an obsession of sorts & this becomes a memory.
and then we can use this as a way of exploring tim's childhood--delve into how his parents chose to send the photo to dick. delve into how started fighting, the decision to send tim to boarding school so he wouldn't be exposed to their marital strife, & how they tried for happy and loving family outings when home--it's complicated, and distant, and lonely but also loving. maybe throw in a thing about how they took tim to therapy and assumed it worked & tim was better now. and then explore villain tim's family which maybe had more strife from the trauma of the circus--his parents also start fighting, but they do it more in front of him leading to him being caught in the middle of the dissolution of their marriage. they did not send their photo to dick--they throw away all reminders of the circus. they don't attempt to go out again as a family. it's more physically present but more strife for villain tim. OR maybe their life is totally fine, but mundane. and having had a glimpse of the famous--villain tim develops a longing for a taste of that world. tim develops an obsession with dick & batman out of concern for dick--villain tim develops an obsession for dick & batman as a form of escapism and bitterness. they both see the quadruple flip--they both realize dick is robin. and they both then figure out bruce wayne has to be robin.
and then they both notice batman goes nuts--but whereas tim is forthright & decides he has to fix things, villain tim chooses to not intervene--because he doesn't see the point in saving anyone, he just thinks knowing is cool. & he's got a slight entitled superiority complex from just knowing he knows. villain tim doesn't think anything of it when there's a new robin--but when he notices that nightwing aka dick grayson is suddenly all buddy buddy with robin, well. he starts to get a little annoyed & jealous...after all, dick was his obsession.
and obviously we go into both lives devolving--tim's loss of parents & eventual adoption by bruce, villain tim's parents also die in different ways. once tim gets adopted villain tim realizes that tim is robin--the one that dick grayson loved. he figures out tim was at the circus that day too...and he figures out how tim put it together and figured it out like him. & he starts to get jealous--after all, on the outside it looks like tim had it all--he was rich, he went to fancy boarding school, he got dick & bruce's love...all the things villain tim wanted when his life was at it's lowest. and he starts to get mad at tim, for stealing what should have been his--after all, he knew the whole time. his life sucked. didn't he deserve those things more? shouldn't those friends and family belong to him? he figured it out too, after all. and his obsession with tim slowly grows and grows. he starts targeting other kids who were at the circus that, but in a way that targets tim--so tim has to find out who and why and how everything is connected.
and when tim finds him, tim has to grapple with seeing someone who was so like yet unalike him. someone who let bitterness and entitlement to the secret be his downfall. who makes tim wonder if he was entitled to this life at all, if he even should have come to dick and bruce that day--he's not special, any single kid could have taken his place after all. his origin at the circus--it could have been any one of them who decided to fix batman if they figured it out. but only tim did. and that's what sets him apart.
as much as i hate sending more people to the circus that night, i think this could be a fun place to put darcy/sparrow as a kid there that night who didn't figure things out & have her and tim work together to save the kids of the audience or something. idk.
have villain tim start targeting the bonds tim made while robin, then we could do stuff with like. young justice, huntress, bruce, dick...
something something i like playing with the ideas of how tim's ability to put himself out there is what is his strength and ultimately sets him apart. that he earned what he got, he wasn't entitled to it.

I also have more thoughts on ES!! from a few nights ago if you'll permit me being annoying about the things i'm passionate a bit more tonight. I know I made a similar post a few weeks ago but I'm still turning the subject around in my head.
I keep rewriting my thoughts on the direction of enstars!! since we're about to enter a new era soon... to me enstars! and !! have become completely different stories. ES!! has expanded way too much and it's doing everything, but in the process forgot what was good about the story before. Leaving aside that i think they should slow down, most of the stories of !! are filler and they have added too many writers imo. But it's working well for them, they're constantly at the top of charts in revenue, so i don't think they're gonna change this...
But i can't help but think of the conversation in wonder game about alice in wonderland vs through the looking glass about the clumsy but loved story vs the sequel made for demand, and how in the climax events akira is deviating from what made enstars! special before (which is to me the focus on humanity in all its forms and what it can do, working for a better future to make up for past sins, learning to love and be loved, as well as on a meta level the relationship between author, audience, and protagonists). The more science fiction plotlines are in line with akira's other non enstars stories, and the climax events do end with a message that's reminiscent of enstars' themes, but they feel very sudden and disjointed from the previous fillery unit stories? Like how did we even get here (sentient AI born from a comatose girl, for example).
I don't even think the addition of npcs is inherently bad, there are npcs i'd loveee to see more of, like maguro, the oukawa sisters, amano, etc. But it doesn't read as these climax events wrapping up 4 years worth of stories as much as setting up a side quest and then wrapping that up, but leaving it still open enough for future explorations. And sure ! era had foreshadowing and setting up for !! in the form of Tsumugi going to work at a new agency after graduation, Izumi going to Florence & Shu to Paris, the creation of ensquare, but at the same time those final stories wrapped up their units' journeys over the course of that in universe year satisfyingly, relying on interpersonal drama rather than external influences to push them around. Maybe it also helped that they were following a formula: having to perform a repayment festival. Whereas now that we've expanded So Much, the world is their oyster and they're getting too ambitious.
I guess... there are just way more memorable character moments and hard hitting scenes in ! era for me personally, a nicely contained story. Forever waiting for !! era to finally have Subaru learn of the Tojou family's past, hopefully with no gimmicks, just heart to heart conversations about the event that changed all their lives forever, and how to deal with finding out Kaname's mom is the reason Subaru's dad is dead. That is I would say my biggest wish rn. But as much as I can criticize enstars, I am saying all of this *because* I love this story and characters, and especially what it was but lost along the way.

So apparently AEW pays well and that's bad?
I know a couple of current WWE folks who definitely got better contracts simply because AEW existed and, thus, created a world where people might jump ship and go somewhere else.
But yeah, I don't know, people are fuckin' crazy. That said, with all of the recent free agent talk going around and that article that is all "WWE needs to look in the mirror about why they keep losing free agents to AEW," I think that's a little off the mark.
Like, yes, in a theoretical, big-picture kind of way the WWE should probably ask themselves why people would want to work anywhere else. And they can chalk it up to "well, we've had some negative press lately" or "this person just didn't want to work as many dates" or whatever. Each case will be different. But I think in the three recent cases cited, there are very real life reasons why none of those three would go with WWE. It's great that the offer from AEW was better and, honestly, I think those signees will easily find more success in AEW than they would in WWE.
Like let's not kid ourselves here: WWE could have offered Okada a fuckton of money, but would he actually make a meaningful mark in the WWE? He'd come in, the announcers would have to spend a ton of time educating the audience on why he matters because most of their audience doesn't watch anything else, and he'd probably just end up being the next foreign heel. The types of great matches he had in NJPW aren't really the kinds of things that WWE is looking for or especially needs more of. They'd probably rush him into a main event program for three months or so and then do something embarrassing with him. He'd be tagging with Nakamura in a team with a vaguely racist-sounding name or something shitty like that. He'd be another amazing performer in search of a meaningful storyline and the WWE's midcard is fucking stuffed full of guys like that right now. He'd be losing to Karrion Kross by Survivor Series.
Tack on the notion that WWE's business is doing really well and they're selling tickets everywhere they go and inventing new, more evil forms of revenue all the time and it's easy to see that WWE doesn't need Okada. They need to be making sure that they have a fresh crop of young talent ready to take over when the current headliners fall off or move on. At 36, Okada isn't quite that guy.
However, Okada is a great fit for AEW and its audience. Too good, actually. I mean I don't think he'll be a "needle mover" on the ratings because anyone in this country who knows who Okada even is already watches AEW. They're super-serving their audience. They're "building golden toilets" for their fanbase. As someone who really likes that shit, I'm stoked. But the weirdo ratings nuts online who live and die by television ratings are melting down over "is Okada a draw or not" or something. And I think it'd probably be obvious to anyone who really sat down and thought about it that Okada wasn't ever going to drag in a whole new American audience.
I'd say mostly the same thing about Ospreay. He'd become the leader of the Catch Wrestling Crew or whatever the fuck they're called now.
The other thing I'd say is that, over time, a better program will probably attract a larger audience. So AEW's programming is better by way of these new signings. They're great performers and I think they both have the ability to be super big in the US for years to come, provided they're working somewhere that plays to their strengths.
Bringing Sasha Banks over to AEW has a chance to bring in new audience since she had a level of fame here in the States already and, hey, maybe fans of hers weren't already watching AEW. It's possible! Punk did it, right? We'll see. That might immediately make her more valuable than Ospreay and Okada. That said, there are already a ton of women that I'd love to see more of on AEW TV, so inserting another star at the top of that division kinda rubs me the wrong way.
Either way, I think these three specific cases are, well, specific enough that trying to use this to claim that WWE is "losing out" on this free agency stuff is probably wrong. They know how much they're willing to spend on an individual talent, they've been at this long enough to have a pretty good idea how some of these people are likely to monetize once they get there, and they're simply not going to overspend on any talent anymore because they're really focused on trying to bring in new talent and raise them up through their system. For all we know, AEW overspent on all three.
But they aren't spending my money, so fuck it! It's awesome! I only get mad when the people I want to see are locked behind the ROH paywall. Like Athena! Put her on real TV, she's fantastic! What the fuck!

Hi Finch! Hope you're doing well! I was wondering, since you work in animation, do you still consume art & animation content with same interest and enjoyment as before? Like, in school, for example. And do you have time and interest for it in the first place? Simply put, is it still good to be in this industry where you have to watch cartoons (I mean, probably you should know what's new coming up etc.), see what other people doing in art and their careers to keep abreast and not because you sincerely interest in it. Sorry if the question is somehow too sad haha
Why asking: I'm trying to figure out what to do for living. I grew up online, I love the art community here and I love my online life, if that make sense. I'm 23 and work at aquarium store, we have fish and reptiles here and I see how my coworkers passionate about this sphere: they keep a bunch of terrariums, they know a lot about reptiles, how to build good aquascape ect. But I'm starting to understand that this is not what I'd like to be around all the time, like, I consume a lot of related content and don't have much time to look up for news in animation or just what my friends have drawn lately. So I've been thinking, maybe if I go back in something close to my habitual online life I'd be more satisfy.. so I'm just interested in your thoughts and experience. Sorry if it's too much haha Thank you so much in advance!! Have a wonderful day!
Yea I definitely still enjoy consuming art/animation! It's the best thing about the job tbh. It's nice to feel excited and inspired by anything new and awesome the industry releases, and what your friends and colleagues are getting on with. My absolute favourite part of being an animator is attending events, like Annecy festival for eg, and really feeling like a part of the magic.
I feel like this year especially felt like that for me, because so many inspiring things came out for me this year. Really feels like new and creative projects are being made, even by the bigwigs, n in the age of AI that's especially hopeful
I will say though, ofc it's different for everyone, but tbh I've found that, for me and my friends, we do kinda wish we didn't make our hobby our career. I still enjoy animation, but now it's a Job, and something I have to do 40+ hours a week, and it's hard to do anything for that length of time and still enjoy it fully yknow.
I enjoy it in the sense that I'm proud to be a part of this industry that has so many awesome artists and people in it, who all try so hard and really believe in something. It's easy to feel like you aren't making a difference and that life is mundane, with any job, but when there are big milestones in the community, or you attend an animation festival and meet everyone else just trying to make good work like you, it's nice and fulfilling.
Idk, I feel like any job can become a slog, but I keep thinking at least mine's a cool one that people think is impressive LOL

Can I ask who's Obi and what's AnS? I've seen you mention them sometimes and I think I've seen you reblog things on it? But I never looked it up, but since you have amazing tastes in fictional men you got me curious now
Hehehe, Anon, you're in for a lot of gushing...
AnS/SWTRH: Akagami no Shirayuki-hime/Snow White with the Red Hair is a manga (with only one season of anime rip) and it was actually my first real manga love. That's right folks, my Obi love predates Shisui!
I don't want to spoil it too much for you if you decide to have a go at it but, basics are:
Shirayuki is a herbalist in the Kingdom of Tanbarun who was born with striking crimson hair, which garners a lot of attention for her. When she's forced to run, she makes it over the border into the neighbouring kingdom of Clarines as a kind of refugee. She meets and gains the aid of the Second Prince, Zen, and his two Knight aids, Kiki and Mitsuhide. Shirayuki and Zen are the main pairing in the anime. Shirayuki joins the gang by apprenticing as a herbalist at the Royal Infirmary.
Here's a manga cover: (bottom right to left going upwards clockwise) Shirayuki, Zen, Kiki, Mitsuhide, and then... Obi
Tumblr media
I'll try not to devolve lol
Obi, who is the tritagonist, was hired by a minor antagonist in the castle to basically... scare Shirayuki off from 'befriending' (in the shipping way, yk?) Zen, but nothing he does works. In watching her, Obi becomes curious about the kind of stubborn, sensitive, intelligent, kind woman that Shirayuki is. Through a series of events, Obi is taken on as one of Zen's attendants, going so far as to call the prince 'Master', and becomes Shirayuki's bodyguard and partner in crime during her adventures. He refuses to address her by name and only calls her 'miss'. Obi eventually comes to fall in love with Shirayuki, which Zen is aware of but Shirayuki is not, but he loves Shirayuki and values Zen too much to even consider speaking of it, not to mention his own beliefs that he is unworthy. Obi has a very mysterious past, not just because he has a lot of dubious skills with fighting, parkour, thievery and espionage, but because we don't actually know where he's from etc. Needless to say, I am hardcore ObiYuki allllll the way.
Obi:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He's just-!!!! He's very playful and evasive and you can tell he really doesn't value himself as much as he does the people around him. Even when Knighted, he's still got this image of himself as a dirty mercenary assassin trying to get by. He's flirty, a good few people polyship him with ZenYuki, but skittish of real emotion. He touched Shirayuki's shoulder once and then couldn't sleep because he was thinking about it over and over.
He and Shirayuki are low-key high-key raising a child together (Ryuu is technically Shirayuki's apprenticeship master lol child genius) and he's such a good father figure, even if he wouldn't see it that way
Tumblr media
Obi is really sensitive, there are so many times when Shirayuki will earnestly thank him and he'll literally just... Buffer. He can swear his fealty and make sly comments about setting his life at other's feet but the moment someone suggests that they love him back?? Evasion, freezing, side eyes, wide eyes, I'm just 😩
Tumblr media
Obi is a badass. He's literally THE badass of the show. Zen has a sword, yeah, and Kiki could kill me and I'd thank her but... Damn. Obi is doing backflips in a spar and shit, he's literally launching himself across rooftops and scaling turrets.
Obi is actually just a really wonderful person? He listens to people. He has absolutely no background or real interest in herbalism but guess what he'll fucking do? Run around on little adventures with Ryuu and Shirayuki, repotting plants under their direction, wading through ice caves to find flowers, helping them in the lab to distill essences... And he's listening and brainstorming with them! It would be so easy for his character to have passed off on it, maybe turned it into a "I'm here but not mentally" joke or maybe even just pushed to the back of these scenes but no, Obi's right in there all the time to help. Shirayuki and Zen have relationship issues? Obi doesn't even think about trying for his own agenda, he just puts supporting them (Shirayuki first, then Zen) as the top priority. Kiki and Mitsuhide in a bind? Obi will come out with a line but of course he would help them, watching carefully with concealed concern. Later, when Obi has his own duties, he's still heavily involved with the day to day research of his friends, making friends with other lab researchers outside of being Shirayuki's tagalong!
So... That's Obi! My OG babygirl!❤️✨

Hope that cleared it up for you! 🥰✨
Edit: his eyes are gold. That's the final nail in my coffin

...Maybe something about the death match???
Gentles and ladymen, Ted Spankoffski actually won something! And better yet, the bastard didn't die!
You know me, you know that I was real intrigued when Wilbur showed up, so I'm gonna mess around with the winner of our little competition, and his little prize!
Tumblr media
At first, it had been a tag team effort. With the aid of that one creepy guy sitting alone in the audience of the theatre— who Ted could've sworn he'd never seen move, but who's overly-accented voice had seemingly whispered in his ear— he and the nutty professor had wiped out more of the conversation in this insane little hell that this town had apparently become.
The two of them stood over the bodies. Ted's hand still gripped the handle of the knife they'd used. He looked at Hidgens, if only for a moment. Hidgens looked way too composed to be normal, and Ted had to wonder whether they'd witnessed the same event.
He'd looked like that all this time, though. They'd won every fight they'd been in—some of them in far closer stakes than others— and yet, he'd remained calm throughout. God, he really was a madman, wasn't he?
"Uh, Hidge?"
Hidgens' gaze flashed over. In two separate moments, he registered Ted— the one who had addressed him— and then the layers of blood covering both him and the knife he was still holding. He hummed, acknowledging Ted's need to continue with whatever he was going to say.
"That was… The last of 'em, right? What now? What does that mean?" It was entirely likely that Hidgens would just know the answer to that question. Ted wouldn't put it past him in the slightest.
"It means, pal, that you won."
That voice sounded more real than the last. Ted was almost certain that he hadn't heard the last one at all. After all, today had been a crazy day, and maybe it was possible that he'd scraped death that many times that he'd simply started hallucinating. That was feasible, right? That was totally the best explanation for what was going on here… After all, what else could it be?
But Hidgens had heard that one too. Both of them had followed the source of it with a glance, out towards the one inhabitant of the audience.
Right. Of course. They were being watched. Had been the whole time.
The spectator was a factor in themself. There was something almost unplaceable about them, and Ted had figured out that it wasn't entirely because they were so tall that they were capable of keeping their back straight against the chair they were sitting on, and have enough enough room to stretch their legs all the way across the seat in front. Maybe it was because he already knew their voice existed in his head in perfect pitch and intonation.
"We won?" He asked, sceptical.
In a single motion, the spectator had pulled themself to their feet, in the row in front of where they were seated. "Mhm. Mighty impressive stuff, I gotta say. Didn't think I'd be standin' here 'fore the two of you…"
"What's that supposed to mean?" Hidgens asked testily.
"Only that you an' Mr Spankoffski over there had some pretty stiff competition… Nothin' t'worry for now, course. Don't much matter anymore." They lurched towards the stagem ascending the side stairs. "Thing is, there's a good reason they sent me here, an' it wasn't just t'watch all this fun."
"What're you talking about?" Ted's grip tightened around the handle of the blade, but he didn't feel safer like that. Not when their mysterious watcher looked so ready to kill them both in a dozen different ways at the same time.
"You're a pair o' smart blokes. Work it out." With a flourish, they reached backstage, grabbed at nothing in particular, and then pulled back. Ted and Hidgens gazed upon a crown that seemed like it should've been golden, but was dripping in a green hue that was at once all too unnatural and all too enticing.
But, they did have the brains enough to figure it out. A doctorate and more than enough years at college between them gave them pause for thought, but they really didn't have to think about it at all, did they? All that time, everything they'd fought through together, and there was only one crown.
That could only mean one thing.
Hidgens stared at the crown. Ted stared at Hidgens. The spectator watched the realisation dawn on both of their faces and grinned, leaning back against the prop boxes at the side.
"Wait, what?! You're not saying…"
This prompted a stiff chuckle from the spectator. "Oh no. I am sayin' that. Ted… Professor… Only one of you can take the night. Decide how ya want, but I'd be careful if I were you, Mr Spankoffski… That guy's got quite the track record, 'specially against you…"
Ted's expression perfectly conveyed all of the confusion he felt, but the matter was never elaborated upon. He'd been thoroughly incapacitated at several points through the day, but he knew enough to know that Hidgens was aan absolute madman, and could feasibly turn whatever he wanted into a weapon. He knew that he'd only gotten through these fights in the first place through sheer luck and fighting alongside him.
Being pitted against him, he stood no chance.
"Wh- are you joking? Against him?"
"Got a problem?"
"Uh, yeah, he's insane! I'd be dead before you leave the stage!"
The spectator raised an eyebrow. "Don't forget which one o'you has the advantage here… 'S all. Good luck, fellas." With a shrug, they left the stage from the same staircase they'd entered from— something completely anticlimactic for the ominous messenger that they were— and took their position in the audience once again.
The advantage… The advantage…
Ted realised that it was him who had the advantage. It was his hand that still held the knife. He readjusted his grip, knowing he'd have to act fast against someone like Hidgens, and immediately lunged for him.
It was a badly calculated move, but he'd been hoping that something would come of it. Hidgens stepped slightly to the side, and Ted's momentum almost carried him into the wings. He spun on his heel the moment he found his footing once again, trying for all it was worth to stay facing the man who was now his adversary.
"How have you learned nothing all day?" Hidgens taunted.
"C'mon, Hidge, our first fight was—" another attempt with only marginally different results. "— two teenagers in an office in high school! This isn't exactly that, is it?"
"Maybe not for you.." Hidgens was scanning the area, looking for anything he could use against a knife. Ted needed to give himself a little credit, he could be competent enough when he wanted to be, but that knife didn't look good on him. Especially considering he didn't have the first idea how to use it.
"Okay, first of all, fuck you. I can fight."
"Okay then, fight."
Hidgens circled him, looking rather like a predatory animal. Ted tried what he could to keep pace, until the professor ducked backstage and vanished. Until the moment he returned, Ted tried to watch his back in case he was to appear from the other side of the stage without warning. But, he didn't. He re-emerged from exactly the same point he'd disappeared, carrying what looked like a fairly sized fireman's axe.
Ted faltered. "Where the hell did you get that?!"
Swinging the axe to get a feel for the weight of it before finally letting it settle in his hands, Hidgens smirked. "When you know a place well enough, you get to know certain... added extras. Besides, you got to keep a weapon. This is only fair..."
The spectator had leaned forwards the moment they noticed the axe, their eyes flashing with a kind of unmatched excitement. Now this was a fight worth turning the tides for.
They watched for a while, this fight between axe and knife. Between a man who was known for having killed in almost every timeline, and a man who was known for dying in almost every timeline. Between an experienced nutcase, and a man who was just trying to stay alive. At first, it had been easy to decipher which way this was going to go. The professor knew what he was doing with that axe, and there was no denying the fire behind his eyes, but to give him his dues, Ted had done a fair bit of the heavy lifting in carrying them both through the fights.
They did so love it when things got interesting.
Ted drew first blood, which was unsurprising, given that Hidgens' only options were to miss or to maim, and he didn't loook like the type to make warning cuts. But Ted was also the first to incapacitate his own weapon, after one of his attempts to draw ended with the knife being lodged deep into one of the beams at the side of the stage.
That would've been the end for anyone else, but there was one thing that the professor didn't know about his opponent, something that was so clear to the one watching them both. And that was that Ted Spankoffski had been favoured by the Lords in Black, and the Bastard would not let him go that easily...
Dumb luck, some would call it. But, the spectator saw the crackle of yellow light from backstage in the moments before Ted managed to dislodge his blade from the beam, and the momentum from the force of the final pull carried him into lodging the blade somewhere else.
Straight into the professor's chest.
Hidgens had been advancing on him slowly as he tried to free his weapon, axe raised and gleaming under the stage lights. He was close enough to striking when Ted turned through the momentum of dislodging the knife that it had dug straight in.
The axe clattered to the ground.
