SJ is has never been this confused in his life, and completely lacks the means to communicate this. LBH and Meng Mo try to search SJ’s dreams to figure out what happened but only find dreams about Luo Bingge. LBH absolutely will not let anybody know this until he’s found whichever monster stole his face.

And then Shang Qinghua gets in on the action. He sees SJ and frankly this is very traumatic for him, like how did things get worse than PIDW?! He promises “Cucumber-bro” that he’ll make sure he ends up in the plant body and now SJ is assumed dead! And Cang Qiong is trying to figure out who is the traitor who killed SQQ, and SQH is sweating buckets trying to pretend it wasn’t him.

Meanwhile, where’s Shen Yuan in this? Probably in SJ’s original place. System gives him an error message and then a mission to survive until he can be restored to the SVSSS timeline. He fucking books it and does everything in his power to keep away from LBG. With System being so cooperative, he manages with a lot of near misses.

Where does his side of the plot go from there? The obvious answer is that he manages to thoroughly wife beam LBG between all the near death experiences. The less obvious answer is that SY really gets along with all the many wives, and eventually to protect him they manage to assassinate LBG, Ides of March style. “Et tu, Ning Yingying?”

In revenge, Shen Yuan teaches Mobei-jun "sway" by Michael buble, so the Hamster gets serenaded as well.

If a nickname is a single character, then it's repeated twice. In fact, saying a single character twice for a name is seen as childish/cutesy and is usually used for (youngish) females. Hence Ning Yingying with the two "ying".

You bring up a good point. Plenty would be happy to get a peak lord ghost to themselves - by hook, crook, or marriage - for the cultivation secrets and goodies they could get out of it. Plus there would be the close ties to Cang Qiong (all the disciples he's taught, the sect leader, Cang Qiong secrets or just knowledge that's usually hidden away in the libraries)...

Yeah, I could see a LOT of benefits out of this. But this all hinges on the presumption that a ghost would still remember such information. I'm going to admit I don't know the Chinese ghost superstitions too well, but ghosts usually focus on their greatest resentment/obsession and the rest of their personality is kind of lost. Ghosts are not a complete reflection of what they were like alive. So, in the end, these people would be gambling to see if Shen Jiu the ghost could still remember anything outside of his obsession which might not be tied to anything cultivation related so...

Shen Yuan is the Old Palace Master! It's an ironic title since he looks like a 12 year old, but he's been around so long that he's a wise elder.

Dang, this is going to make his head disciples look more like babysitters trying to wrangle this prepubescent child into behaving while Shen Yuan is skipping off to check out some rare odd monster or beast...

Anyways, the title of Old Palace Master is sometimes spoke in a mocking way; lots of people don't take him seriously with that appearance. He got overridden on the matter of dealing with heavenly demon Tian Langjun - that he must be fooled by Tianlang Jun's good nature since he's trying to supposedly court Shen Yuan's favorite disciple Su Xiyan as a way to distract Shen Yuan from Tianlang Jun's true dastardly plans of conquering the world. It's kind of done the same way you deal with an old patient who's so old that they are out of touch with the world.

When Luo Binghe gets out of the abyss and ends up joining Huan Hua... he thinks Shen Yuan is so precious and cute and unlike all the other cultivators in the world. (The youthful appearance really helps a lot in separating Shen Yuan from the rest of the cultivation world.) Luo Bingge has a terrible habit of picking Shen Yuan up and carrying him around.

Shen Yuan: I'm not a kid!!!! Luo Binghe: I know :)

Firstly, a quick comment that Jiu and Liu are not appropriate ways of shortening Chinese names. Qingge and Shen Jiu, A-Jiu and Xiao-Liu, Jiu-ge and Liu shidi, etc. are good options. One syllable names are NOT a thing in Chinese; you'd need to attach suffixes/titles to make it acceptable.

Secondly, if there's a world wide tournament... why would there be one? The assumption here would be that ghost!Shen Jiu is so resentful and powerful that the only way to placate the angry ghost is to sacrifice a bride and no one wants to do it... so there is a tournament? Because let me tell you that in PIDW, the people who kind of sort of likes Shen Jiu is a very tiny pool. And of that pool, it's like only Yue Qingyuan that would be the sole cultivator in that group.

There is no massive line to marry Shen Jiu, must less a (presumably angry) ghost version of Shen Jiu. As a peak lord, his ghost form mus be pretty powerful, so the living bride wouldn't be able to marry others... So a contest/tournament wouldn't make sense. To not even talk about Shen Jiu's poor reputation, people want kids.

AU where Shen Jiu does in the caves saving Liu Qingge and in thanks, Liu Qingge becomes a ghost bride 🙈

The Old Palace Master is a well known twitch streamer who does speedruns. He gives no fucks about reputation, social norms, or appearances. So what if he looks like an old man! So what! He's here to game the system, figure out the bugs he can exploit in this world, and poke at the oddities.

Otome!Mobei Jun can detect emotional fluctuations due to his power over the cold and ice. He can feel when someone's face gets warmer (embarrassed, flushed, etc.) but he's can't tell the exact reaction... which leads to interesting misunderstandings!

The all transmigrators svsss has not left my mind. There are so many wild character dynamics that can occur. Shen Jiu and YQY had such a sad and tense relationship together that neither Shen Yuan nor the new YQY know, but Shang Qinghua does know. Is Shang Qinghua freaking out as everyone around him suddenly changed the same day?

Or maybe he's been so out of it (aka buried in paperwork, not getting enough rest, and getting beaten up by Mobei Jun) that he doesn't notice because everyone else is acting like everything is normal...

Basically he's getting gaslighted by the transmigrators left and right.

I have a fucking hilarious idea.

Shen Yuan transmigrates into an An Ding disciple. He finds out that his fellow disciples are of the Qing generation and he decides that he’s going to become An Ding peak lord to not allow that traitor Shang Qinghua to get into position of power. Naturally with a man as cunning and smart as Shen Yuan, he grabs the title effortlessly.

An Ding quickly learns that being surnamed Shang leads to them being sent in the worse missions by their head disciple. He’s looking at all the disciples surnamed Shang with an evil eye.

Shen Yuan has no system.

Meanwhile airplane is Dying under his system’s blasting reminders that he needs to become head disciple but the fucking current head disciple somehow keeps figuring out and evading all his traps and back stabbing attempts like wth.

Somehow the two never figure out that the other is a transmigrator until much much later.

Aka the game of Tom and Jerry between the two transmigrators begin.

AU where while Yue Qi is in seclusion after forcibly bonding with the most powerful sword, a new disciple becomes head disciple of Qiong Ding/ poses to become the next sect leader.

And… it’s none other than transmigrator Shen Yuan. Who very loudly doesn’t want the position but he’s forced into it after unfortunately showing some common sense after Yue Qi made the worse decision that permanently kicked him out of the running for Qiong Ding head disciple.

Okay, concept:

Luo Binghe grew up very poor prior to arriving to QJP. And when he first got to QJP, he was ostracized and neglected. So there are probably a lot of phrases, terms, and ideas that he didn't know were things until SY arrived and started actually teaching him. Right? So the bulk of what he did learn, he learned directly from Shen Yuan's own slightly messy attempts to fake ancient scholarly credentials.

Plus, QJP is supposed to be the peak of scholars and well-read, fancy intellectuals, and YQY probably also doesn't know shit about most of that stuff (having also been a former illiterate street child) and of course is incredibly predisposed to take Shen Qingqiu's side on virtually anything. Especially something frivolous or linked to their shared past, such as someone, say Qi Qingqi, accusing Shen Qingqiu of making up a literary reference or "gibberish" word. If something Shen Qingqiu says is something no one else seems to know, that just proves he's more worldly and well-read than the rest of his peers. Also, Shang Qinghua will probably know it, and despite his many (many) character flaws, Shang Qinghua reads a lot too. There's really very little to convince a former street child turned Demon Emperor whose former education began and ended with Shen Qingqiu specifically and Meng Mo (wildly out-of-touch with human culture anyway) to suspect that some of the difficult-to-source references his master makes really have no worldly source (in this world).

So Luo Binghe, in his quest to become as knowledgeable of all things about his shizun and keep up with him as well as possible, and maybe also put down some arguments he's overheard once and for all, eventually gets annoyed because CLEARLY there is a wealth of cultural knowledge contemporary to Shen Qingqiu and Shang Qinghua that didn't survive to his own generation. His efforts at hunting down all the sources being referenced and origins of certain philosophical ideas or terminology keep coming up empty in certain departments. He's been over the entire QJP library with a fine-tooth comb, but QJP focuses on things pertaining to cultivation, history, and knowledge. Obviously, there are gaps. The archives are unlikely to keep pop cultural references and lowbrow literature, and Luo Binghe begins to suspect (from what tastes his master seems to share with his shishu) that that is that actual source he's missing.

The trashy yellow books and romance literature of their generation! Bawdy poems and lewd artworks so on! Heck, that's probably even where the shared "code" (bad English) comes into play -- disciples are always trying to sneak forbidden material past their teachers and smuggle naughty books into the dormitories. Knowing Shizun and Shang Qinghua, Luo Binghe honestly wouldn't be surprised if the two of them were racketeering that shit in their own disciple days. Shang Qinghua acquiring materials, Shen Qingqiu acquiring buyers, both of them making their extra spending money off of secretly supplying Cang Qiong's population with contraband fiction and art.

Also, that would explain why both Shen Qingqiu and Shang Qinghua get flustered and refuse to elaborate if someone asks them what this or that strange turn of phrase refers to. Shen Qingqiu has a very thin face for actually discussing erotica, and Shang Qinghua doesn't like being caught doing illegal shit.

Luo Binghe desperately needs access to trash lit that's older than he is. However, most of that stuff is not printed to last, and turning it up is like trying to find old Spirk zines without the internet.

Shang Qinghua, the obvious go-to source, also seems to not really have anything that old anymore (intimidating him is laughably easy, if he had anything he would have coughed it up by the second or third time Luo Binghe asked and frowned at the same time), and if Shen Qingqiu did have anything he wouldn't want to be questioned about it. Asking too much might even get it destroyed in an act of excessive embarrassment.

Which means there is just one other person Luo Binghe knows who might be able to lead him to some sources. One other person he is absolutely, 100% certain was extensively reading trashy literature around the same time that Shizun was a young man. Someone who would know where to go to even begin looking for it.

Luo Binghe is going to have to ask Tianlang Jun for help with something.

Part of the reason why Cang Qiong accepts Shen Qingqiu's "memory loss" so easily is because the Qing Jing peak lord even forgot how to write...

AKA modern Shen Yuan grew up learning and writing Simplified Chinese so you really can't blame him for struggling with traditional Chinese. He can guess the characters while reading, but writing? Haha... Do you KNOW how many more strokes there are in Traditional Chinese for the same character?!

Let's take doctor as an example: 医生 (simplified) vs 醫生 (traditional)

Heck, some of the differences are minor but it's still a brainfuck: 够 (simplified) vs. 夠 (traditional)

Ming Fang has taken to proofreading and rewriting his shizun's reports before they get sent out to external parties for this reason.
