When I was a kid, my favorite characters in Naruto were Gaara, Sasori, and Naruto. Now, after having read, finally, all the manga at 28, that drastically changed. Now, without a doubt, my favorite characters are Obito and Kakashi, and the main reason is: they are human. I'm not saying that the other characters of the story are not human, but they all have that indistinguishable "fantasy" layers on them. But Obito and Kakashi? Their story, their motives, their emotions, their responses at the events of the main story, are so intrinsically human. Probably what I'm writing make no sense, but Ill' try my best to explain, even if I have difficulty to write this in english. This is my opinion, and naturally everyone has their take based on their own culture and their life. When I say they are " intrinsically human", I mean that if someone else was in their place, they would have made their same choices and actions. Because, their response to a destabilizing and traumatic events (the third ninja war as child soldiers, Kannabi bridge, Rin's decision, and so on) it's different, but also understandable. Who could have act differently? No one can say with confidence and no hesitation how they would act in certain situations. I'm no therapist, but people have different reactions to traumatic events. We are not the same. So, seeing how Obito and Kakashi had so conflicting reactions to the sames events, conflicting with their own childhood self even though you could see even then there was something, something that you could see and say "yes, this is only the tip of the iceberg," because we are not the same as our child selves, but our child selves had something that made who we are today, and the "we" of today have something that it's a reminder of our child selves. I, have so much more to add, but don't have the words in english to say it. I don't even know if what I wrote make any sense, it was something that I wanted to say because this two make me cry, and I hardly cry for fiction. But this two made my cry like I haven't cried for years, just because their story is so viscerally human and close to what I feel in general, that I don't even know anymore.

Madara and Mito having an affair behind Hashirama 's back. Starts out as a way for both to get back at him but they end up developing feelings, and when Hashirama does find out he thinks it's hot as fuck
Hashirama and Tobirama: *witness Madara sneaking out of the Hokage's bedroom via the window*
Hashirama: My wife and my best friend...
Tobirama: Brother, I can't begin to fathom the level of betrayal you must feel. I swear I will assist you in your quest for revenge.
Hashirama: My wife and my best friend!
Tobirama: Yes, I-
Hashirama, blushing and giddy: DO YOU THINK THEY'D LET ME JOIN??
Tobirama: *questions every single decision that lead him to this point*

that's a great topic! Obito's sanity is generally a rather controversial thing... at such moments I want to be a psychologist to analyse it more correctly. I'm interested in your ideas and I'm glad you called me to talk <3
I would say that Obito could possibly have some kind of disorder on the background of the trauma he received, and I see that it could be similar to psychopathy at first, but I don't think he can be called a psychopath, since he was not predisposed to sadism/other manifestations of psychopathy since childhood, these are the consequences of all the drama he had. I will try to make a bigger post about this one day, I once thought about where Obito got this sadism from, too. it seems to me that this is directly related to Rin's death at the hands of Kakashi, it was from there that he went crazy. yeah, the obvious thing, haha. but, in short, this sadism is not a typical behavior for Obito, but a developed defence mechanism. so it's not, like, a true "psychopathic" sadism, and I'm not sure he enjoys hurting people to the fullest.
the whole scene of Rin's death is the moment when a dear person, in whom Obito subconsciously saw a certain protector (therefore entrusted him with custody of the most valuable thing he had), somehow breaks this most valuable thing. roughly speaking, the same mechanism worked as for a random little boy whose formidable parent, idk, treated him cruelly for bringing a kitten into the house. the boy feels a desire to protect object A, which is dear to him, but it is necessary to protect this object from object B, which was a source of security for the boy. Obito feels that he cannot defend himself psychologically from this situation, from someone whom he considered his main support at a critical moment. because he has nothing to hope here, he has no one to save him from this, AND the one he hoped would do it is in the middle of the scene. for him, attacking Kakashi is like attacking his own support, and therefore he finds himself in a dead end (I can't protect her, I can't be protected by him, I can't attack him) when he can't blame anyone but the environment and himself. so his fear, shock and aggression are directed inward and cause that hysteria episode, which form a psychotrauma.
subsequently, Obito needs to find a new figure of protection, which, in this case, he can only look for in himself. therefore, he "grows thorns" and becomes more aggressive and angrier, shows this very sadism. the root of his sadism is fear of insecurity and (sometimes) resentment, not an enjoyment (but I think there could some situations). thanks to this aggression, he feels that he no longer needs a defender figure. oh, and by the way, I think that there is quite a lot of masochism in Obito too, this is also an interesting theme.
speaking of the dark triad (I've read very little about it, but I understand the concept you mentioned, it's cool), it seems to me that the features of machiavellianism are most explicit in Obito. he's manipulative, cynical and all that sort of stuff, but then again, it's more of a consequence of his trauma. can people be predisposed to mach at all? I'm getting a little confused about the theory here.
however, you've noticed that Obito could have developed some hyperprotective/aggressive traits without such a serious trauma. in the end, he is still under pressure from the clan and it is very difficult to part with what is dear to him, so hugging too much in a literal or figurative sense is quite in his character, he gets attached to things easily. in Obito's understanding, Rin is something incredibly fragile and delicate, he constantly tries to protect her, tries to be better with her. as if (I liked your words here) he would constantly restrain and control himself. could he relax with her? I'm not sure.
of course, there are people who are comfortable always being on the side of a stronger partner, an always caring one, but, in my opinion, Obito is looking for something in between so that he can both protect and relax. therefore, I can support your position that obirin would not be a very strong couple. oh, you can deduce a lot of AUs and headcanons from this, but many of them seem kind of sad(?) to me... in any case, I see Obito and Rin as good friends, as very close ones, but as for partnerships, this raises my doubts.
I've written about this somewhere before, but I think Obito and Rin didn't last long as a couple. There are several reasons for this(summoning technique: @r--kt I'm interested in your opinion), but I want to highlight one important one among them. Oh yeah, I'll clarify that this doesn't take into account Obito's complicated feelings for Kakashi.
So, I think we can all agree that Obito is a sadist. It's very clear in canon that he doesn't mind hurting people and enjoys watching them suffer. But actually, sadism doesn't come from thin air????
If you watch true crime videos or articles where the authors tell the biographies of serial killers who have been recognized by psychiatrists(!) as sadists, you'll see an interesting pattern. In 9 out of 10 cases they tortured animals as children. This, by the way, is an important bellwether in psychology and is often found in psychopaths. The dark triad, read about it.
So that's what I'm getting at. Sadism is not something you acquire during your life (although some psychologists believe that it is, that it is acquired in childhood under the influence of various factors, but again, it all happens early on), like a skill, like being able to draw or dance. No, it's a predisposition that is seen.
But we don't see it explicitly in Obito? There are three possibilities here, either Obito had very good control over it, or we're dealing with an unreliable narrator, or Kishimoto is a fool. Which is more likely? I don't know. Obito seemed to like animals and even helped them. That's strange.
So, if Obito and Rin had a relationship, I think Obito's sadism would show through. For example, Obito would want to squeeze his hands harder on Rin's body, or bite her, or something like that. But Obito sees Rin as gentle and someone he can't hurt. Accordingly, Obito would have to control himself all the time. Body and Thoughts. Rin would notice this at some point, but where it would lead next, I don't know.
I think Obito would be more and more nervous over time, because he kind of has to control himself forever and can't give himself a rest. He can't make a mistake because he's afraid of losing Rin's love. And that's what his mistake is.

Pixiv Recs. Obito's name
Have I already mentioned I love the Japanese fandom for all the wonderful comic strips and doujinshi? Oh, do I love it! They inspire me so much to create mine. I haven't rec'd anything in a while because tumblr shadowbanned me for posting too many links last time xD But this one! Oh!
Tumblr media
It's common knowledge in the fandom that the word KAKASHI means 'scarecrow', but what about OBITO? Ooooh, it has a meaning too ;) But it's such a rare, outdated word that even (some) Japanese are shocked at the revelation--judging by the comments on Pixiv to this bittersweet and touching comic:
✏ "The name he threw away" by さあり. Obito's parents discuss their soon-to-be-born son's name. I was not surprised by the meaning only bc it had been the first thing I looked up in the dictionary when I'd learned about the development of this character after 12 years of being out of the fandom :D Author's comment: "The man who spent most of his life under the aliases Tobi and Madara."
Translation: Obito's Dad: Have you decided on a name? Obito's Mom: Yes. I've searched books and thought about this a lot. Dad: We're expecting a boy, so his name must be intimidating to his enemies and very powerful. Mom: Powerful, yes. But I would like his name to be endowed with more than that… The name is very important. It is a gift given by parents to their child, the gift that stays with the child for life. If we disappear from his life someday, he will never forget our love because his name will still contain the intentions and thoughts we put into it. (Book: Character Meanings) Mom: Bringing people together and guiding them, leading the way for them… I want him to be such a leader. Dad: Leader? You mean you want him to become Hokage? Mom: He-he! He's your son after all. I wouldn't be surprised if he declares that one day! Dad: Actually, I haven't given up on the idea myself yet! Mom: My lovely child… Carry this name proudly, never forget it! And if you ever get lost on your way, reach out to it. In it is your essence. (Book -- 首 SHU/kubi; kashira, osa; obito "a person who leads" (tousotsu suru mono)). Mom: Obito. _____ In the manga Obito's name is written with a syllabic alphabet, but the word may be written with a character too.
首 'obito' - a hereditary title (kabane) in Yamato-period Japan (250–710 CE). Obito means 'leader, commander', also something like 'the man in charge' (e.g. an obito could be the head of a 'bemin' family (a small clan subservient to a more noble clan in Yamato), or the man in charge of some duty, or a professional).
The word seems to have originated from the word combination "oo hito" (lit. 'big [authoritative] person'), but it was never written with these two charactes. In fact obito is one of the readings of the character 首 SHU/kashira/kubi 'head, neck', which hints to the meaning (just like in English the word head also means 'chief').
And the author of this comic saw great irony here. 'Leader' who renounced his own name along with the feelings his parents put into it 💔 I loved it.

You know that "it's hard to look at lips you can't kiss" meme?
Well, it's been shown and proven that Obito can access what Kakashi sees through Obito's eyes during periods of intense emotion (maybe not just during those times, who knows). So, imagine Obito at a Kiri/Akatsuki meeting or something, having images sent to his brain of Kakashi fucking or kissing someone very passionately?
It's hard to look at lips you can't kiss, but what about looking at sex you can't participate in? Obito died in canon as a virgin who occasionally watched Kakashi have sex and no one is going to convince me otherwise.

first of all, I want to apologize for not answering for so long... there's an awful lot to do rn :_)
I would like to add that another thing is that Obito wanted to present his whole tsukuyomi plan to Kakashi as the thought "look, I finally achieved something, I'm worth something, it's good, say that I'm good" and Kakashi... rejected him again! yes, Obito was still looking for the right answer, the ideal one, although there was no such thing. he, in fact, as in childhood, saw only one extreme, when Kakashi accepted that things could develop in different ways, this is life. so I really agree with you here.
I like the idea that Obito wanted to keep the sharingan as a reminder of himself. I think this is also important. besides, I think he did it on principle. he didn't want to give up his words or actions, especially for a dear person. it was a gift. he won't take it back. ohh... guess we should also discuss this topic in more detail once.
funny, Obito quite often talks to Rin about Kakashi in the anime, and that they don't even need to mention his name to understand that they are talking about him now. honey, you could talk to a girl you like about anything, do you really choose to talk about him? I remembered in episode 416, in addition to the fact that Obito is chatting with Rin about Kakashi, like, all the time, Obito also mentions Kakashi as "that guy" in the conversation with her, believing that Rin will understand him immediately (she didn't, and he explained, but the fact itself). no, he's even talking to Minato about Kakashi! okay, I understand what Obito wants from Rin: love, recognition and all the good things. but such an attitude towards Kakashi, who, it would seem, does nothing but show off and teach Obito... it is interesting
I'm amused by Kishimoto's tendency to work out male duets more like love lines than real canons. like, yeah, naruhina have kids and blah blah, but I really would rather believe in love between Obito and Kakashi than between those two, because Obito and Kakashi do it more... sincere, maybe. you see how they influence each other, how they keep remembering each other's words, how they choose people who look like each other. the same thing, of course, with the sns and hsmd.
oh, and the scars... this is a separate topic, it's so simple, but so good, my God. I really want to know their every thought about each other's scars, from "I'm so sorry" to "I appreciate it so much" and "it's kinda sexy" and all the rest.
I will be very glad to read it! I will try to write my thoughts about Rin some day, and I will really look forward to your opinion, it will really be great to discuss!
Where actually was this betrayal line for Obito that Kakashi had crossed?
about the whole "anyone got Kakashi, but not Obito" thing that @komihoyinsblog said. I remembered where the culmination of this theme was. no, like, this whole topic is real!
let's talk about the scene after when Jubito was defeated. here I will analyse kkobkk relationships and Obito's arc specifically.
contents | context · meaning of the scene · where's a mistake and where's a betrayal
Tumblr media
CH. 655
Context
during the battle with the shinobi alliance, Obito came face to face with a deeply repressed desire for another life, which he did not realize due to his position as the only one who can fulfill the tsukuyomi plan. the battle itself as well as the conversation with Naruto reminds Obito of the aspirations and values dear to him that he had to sacrifice. all this has noticeably hit Obito and now he is disarmed and stripped of his armor, which is metaphorically reflected in his half-naked body (and cuz fans love men's boobs).
Tumblr media
CH. 652. god, look how happy he is, I'm sobbing. love the way he never regrets about his scars, they're with him even in his imagination, that's a reminder of his core values.
structurally, in Obito's arc, this scene is the Collapse point and the end of the second act. here, the previous methods (the tsukuyomi plan) have shown their inconsistency, and the goal (peace for everyone and for him, too) has not been achieved, and he must find a new way to achieve this goal. at the beginning of the scene, he is confused, defeated and not ready to face the consequences.
why isn't he ready? he's lying there, seemingly resigned. yeah, not exactly. here, he accepted the impending death, and it's even not bad to die by Kakashi's hand to some extent. another question is, is he ready to talk to him, is he ready to accept the defeat and find the strength to continue the journey?
Tumblr media
Meaning of the scene
once again, it is important that the battle with the alliance and the conversation with Naruto influenced Obito, but did not convince him. it was Kakashi who did it.
in fact, this conversation with Kakashi is a crucial reason for Obito to return to his ideals. before that, he was in doubt (the second act is a reflection of the character, as if hesitating from one side to the other), and after that he takes the side of the alliance. what did Kakashi say that made Obito come back?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
three questions Obito is asking.
how can you be sure that Naruto won't fail on his way, unlike me? [pic 2, above]
why are you so attached to Naruto, what's the difference between him and me? [pic below]
why are you willing to help him (and not me)? [pic below]
they don't talk about different paths here. Kakashi emphasizes that Obito's path is not exactly wrong, so that's not the deal. it's about Obito and Naruto as people, and, more, about Kakashi's opinion on Obito.
finding out why he is not the one whose path Kakashi is ready to defend is essential for Obito. he wants to understand why Naruto (aka Obito's previous self, too) is closer to him, why Kakashi does not support the actual one for whom he grieved so much. why, even recognizing the possible correctness of tsukuyomi, Kakashi refuses to support Obito in this, prefers to go the same way. and also look at how damn emotional he is at this moment, his feelings go from anger to anxiety in a couple of frames. that's what happened when the central conflict "I'm never good enough to be loved" is raised.
Tumblr media
Obito's questions are a subconscious appeal to Kakashi — "why don't you choose me? I could make you happy. what's wrong with me again?!" he thinks that the reason Kakashi doesn't take his side is not because of the correctness of his path, but because of Obito himself. subconsciously, he thinks that it's because of Kakashi's personal dislike of this "new" Obito, and he is very afraid of this might be true. just look at his face at the bottom of the page, he's really worried about hearing Kakashi's answer. oh, and it's actually the same meaning as "I thought, maybe you could love me like you used to, even though I'm different" [ Jinx's quote from Arcane, yes, I like to compare these two sometimes ].
Tumblr media Tumblr media
what Kakashi says in this situation means "let me help you." Kakashi said he would be ready to help Obito if he let him in, if he allowed him. this is literally the only condition (which is important to mention here) under which Obito did not pass, because of his desire to reject Kakashi's help, believing that he must put his life on tsukuyomi plan and cut off all ties. but this does not mean that he wanted Kakashi to cut off this tie in return.
Obito was an individualist, and he only scoffed or got angry at Kakashi's offer to help/sympathize. now they're in a situation when Obito finally hear that Kakashi said "you've made mistakes, but that's okay. I can be with you, if you need me to, and I'm okay with you continuing your life and reaching peace. I accept you and I believe in you." and I want you to appreciate that this is the tipping point of Obito's arc.
so, that's why Obito changes his way of acting. Kakashi shows that he accepts Obito the way he is, and thus significantly reduces Obito's need to prove his worth through his own hardships and overcoming difficulties. yes, Kakashi had already said similar things before, and it didn't work, but here this line is resolved precisely because of this deep conversation they had.
Where's a mistake and where's a betrayal
oh, maybe Rin's death was a thing Obito considered a betrayal from Kakashi's part? everything's much less trivial. would he offer to help Kakashi if he thought he was a traitor? and well, he offered.
Tumblr media
CH. 630
no, look at his face on the bottom right, why would you say that with such a gentle face to someone you consider a traitor? what is it, a genuine smile? so something happened besides that.
the betrayal was that Kakashi preferred his other ties to the connection with Obito. here, betrayal is not about killing Rin, and not about breaking a promise — all these are mistakes that Obito is able to forgive.
all the moments when Obito says something like "you had the opportunity to kill me, but you didn't do it", "you can't deal with me because of guilt?", "still blaming yourself for the broken promises?" - all this is an attempt to increase his own value, to show the importance of Obito for Kakashi. and it's also a projection. Obito says, "you had so many opportunities to kill me, but you..." although he does the same. like, why would he leave Kakashi alive after the kamui battle? intentionally inflict a non-fatal wound on him and leave him in a dimension that only he and Obito have access to? "I don't care if he's alive or dead," but at every opportunity he chose the option "alive", even if it's less profitable for him. my baby loves to deceive himself so much.
Tumblr media
all this time, Obito believed that he was striving for their common dream, and therefore the condemnation from Kakashi (there should be a couple more frames from the manga) feels like the most painful blow for him, especially when Kakashi says that Rin would not want it either. before that, Obito had compared himself and Kakashi a couple of times, put them on an equal footing, and after being rejected by him, that's where Obito feels really lonely.
the point of no return was precisely the fact that Kakashi shows with his own words that he does not accept the current Obito and everything he's been striving for years. all this, taken together, he considered a betrayal, as if he's not enough, as if he fucked everything up again.
therefore, their conflict is resolved by the acceptance of one person by another, this is in fact exactly what Obito's heart wanted — to hear that he could be accepted after all that had happened. the same thing happened after his death, when he finally met Rin, by the way.
hope the text is not that messy. oh, and! that kkob video I've made with mitski's song. this fits the topic so well. love these guys

Obito's 'after life' just being a hallucination formed in his mind, created so he can finally have peace in the hellscape he's been trapped in for the past 15 years is bittersweet yet fitting. In the series it's confirmed that no shinobi gets an angelic, utopian life after death, it's a grey area that is nothing but darkness. Neither good nor bad it lies in between because of a shinobi's ever-present moral and internal conflicts about their being. So, why would obito of all people get a good one? it's because he doesn't. He killed thousands, participated in his clan massacre, and planned on putting the world into an infinite dreamscape land; even if his ideals were in good faith and an analysis on the shinobi system.
It's his mind trying to achieve some sort of finality before he dies as. Rin leads him to his death like the guardian angel Obito thinks she is during his last scene. She's leading him to a no mans land and he can't escape it so the last thing he can do is relish this last few moments and believe it's tranquility.

it seems to me that part of Obito wanted to be saved by Kakashi. the very part that was responsible for these thoughts of "if I were with him, then..." right during the battle or this internal anger towards him messing up the promise. moreover, Obito never said that he didn't need help from Kakashi [ or I don't remember it ]. was he trying to prove that he was right and Kakashi was wrong? yes. was he trying to humiliate Kakashi in order to "open his eyes"? yes. did he say that he didn't need Kakashi's help? no? at the same time, I do not think that Obito was in desperate need of Kakashi's help in the war, he refused it on principle after the kamui conversation, when Kakashi trampled on all his beliefs and refused his side so easily. but did that very part of him give up on it?
I would say he was offended by Kakashi's reaction, because he wholeheartedly believed that he was finally doing something right, finally knew the answer, finally could be useful [ and for Obito, the topic of his own usefulness is also very important, especially in terms of Kakashi, he mentions this in several scenes and the topic of "scum" is related to this ]. and then Kakashi takes over and deprives Obito of self-confidence again. it would seem that he does not have such an opportunity, Obito has thought everything out, calculated all the manipulations, but no. it seems to me that Obito may have left these holes in his plan so that Kakashi would guess everything and come over to his side [ although I can't say for sure ]. He wanted to be that savior for Kakashi.
I wonder what emotion Kakashi felt when he found out that his loved one was not only alive all this time, but also knew about his life, followed him at a possibly very close distance. he probably felt like an idiot and tried to rethink all the moments when something felt wrong. I feel so sorry for the man. and Obito, oh, damn him... [ oh, and my native language is russian ]
so, Obito... I have some headlines about the ANBU period, and I would like to write one more post before mentioning it. I think Obito might have been too worried about something once [ for example, because of the mission where Kakashi almost died + Obito's internal jealousy + another event with Pain, which I'll explain a little later ], so he came to Kakashi's house at night and leaned against his chest to listen to his heartbeat, just to feel that he was really alive. Perhaps before that, he plunged Kakashi into genjutsu? so that he doesn't wake up suddenly. in my head, this is a very sensual and at the same time disturbing, AND at the same time such a rash act. but it was necessary for Obito. give him a moment of harmony with his previous self before the storm
You know that "it's hard to look at lips you can't kiss" meme?
Well, it's been shown and proven that Obito can access what Kakashi sees through Obito's eyes during periods of intense emotion (maybe not just during those times, who knows). okay, but these strong Unresolved Sexual Tension vibes from the whole Kamui battle. like. using taijutsu just for fun? using genjutsu on him long enough to make him angry, but immediately agreeing to stop it when he asked??? being nostalgic for your previous fights and recreating one of them? hiding in your personal "you and me" dimension in the middle of the war?? stealing his hand for a hand signs and acting like you stole his kiss? stealing his heart in the most traumatizing way possible? everything is way too personal to just take that seal off. go get a room

my man likes to be bullied (innocently).
Obito needed enrichment, that's why he teamed up with Deidara.
One day, he thought to himself: How can I relive my childhood memory of getting bullied by a younger guy?
Then Sasori died.
And Obito went: perfect! Now working for the Akatsuki will feel exactly like being on Team Minato. I'm a genius.
Then he let Deidara bully him (after he pissed him off for seemingly no reason)

Kakashi — the man who cut the lightning
where did chidori and raikiri come from? already guessed what I'd say? yeah — cultural code!
contents | raikiri myth · thunder god's incarnation.
Tumblr media
CH. 114
it's possible that this has already been written about before, but I just don't remember if I found out about it from tumblr or dug it up myself. anyways...
Raikiri myth
the name of the thunder god Raijin is associated with the story of a warlord Dōsetsu Tachibana, XVI century. Dōsetsu was in possession of a famous sword called 'Chidori' [ 千鳥, Thousand Birds ]. one day, while he was still a young man, he was taking shelter under a tree, as it was raining. suddenly, a bolt of lightning struck him. however, Dōsetsu used his Chidori to cut Raijin who was inside the lightning bolt, and it allowed him to survive. after this incident, he renamed his Chidori to 'Raikiri' [ 雷切, Lightning Cutter ].
what else can I say? is there at least something in Naruto that is not a war/regime criticism and not a cultural code? [ yeah, gay men ] this part of the post just doesn't need commentaries, it explains so many things...
Tumblr media
Thunder god's incarnation
a bit about Dōsetsu himself. of course, you can't just relate him to Kakashi (they aren't alike in general), but I'm interested in looking at his image of a military commander, which is close to Kakashi in some ways.
it is said that Dōsetsu has extraordinary physical strength, a sharp mind and practicing sword style named tachiuchi ni myō o etaru (the art of slashing in all-direction). the Chidori sword is forged by renowned 13th century swordsmith and its hilt design featured the Tachibana family crest. [ does it sound familiar? like the tanto of the Hatake clan? ]
for his mythical feats and personal prowess in the battlefield, Dōsetsu has become a subject of folklores and earned some nicknames, such as Hachiman incarnation [ 弓矢八幡 ], Raijin incarnation [ 摩利支天の化身 ], or God of war from Kyushu [ 九州の軍神 ]. because of his fierce character, he was nicknamed "Oni Dōsetsu" — "Dōsetsu the demon".
I'd say that this is a pretty entertaining background for Kakashi's story. personally, I perceive him as one of the closest characters to real samurai, and therefore such a number of references to history and folklore in him cannot but please me. especially the battle nicknames, in both cases, and a certain connection with the gods of thunder and war. now I'm thinking about the image of Kakashi's Susanoo, which is, well, a full armoured samurai, among other things.
