Sorry, but I'd rather accidentally love too many people than too few. I'd rather accidentally welcome people I'm not supposed to than exclude people I'm supposed to welcome. I think God looks much more kindly on one of those than the other.

Shoutout to trans Christians on this Easter Sunday and Transgender day of visibility. You are loved and cherished by God, who sees your true self and calls you by your true name.
I also want to send comfort to every trans person, religious or not, who has been hurt by religious transphobia. Hatred is not Godly, and you deserve so much better.

Love people even in their sin, for that is the semblance of Divine Love and is the highest love on earth. Love all of God's creation, the whole and every grain of sand of it. Love every leaf, every ray of God's light. Love the animals, love the plants, love everything. If you love everything, you will perceive the divine mystery in things. Once you perceive it, you will begin to comprehend it better every day. And you will come at last to love the whole world with an all-embracing love.

there's always a lot of talk about how being gay or trans is a "sin." and a lot of people have reclaimed this, have joked about their "sin," have held it up yourself so it can't be held against you.
but to all of the religious queers, the ones trying to find or create a home in themselves where their identity and their religion don't contradict... i see you. i've been you, i am you, i love you.
your orientation is not a sin.
your gender is not a sin.
you are not sinful or wrong or bad just for being who you are.
your identity does not contradict your religion.
you are beautifully and wonderfully made, just as you are.
you are loved by your creator, just as you are.
nobody can take any of that away from you.
[ please do not tag or censor my use of the word queer. do not derail this post by talking about how much religion sucks. ]

Yes, I’m Christian. Yes I’m LGBTQ+. I hold both sides accountable for their actions. Christian goes off and changes the bible to hurt the gays? I’ve got some choice words. LGBTQ+ people starts ostracizing Christian queers? Choice words. I won’t stand for one part of my identity constantly jabbing the other.
That statement is mainly directed at Christians who have literally changed the fucking bible to appeal to their oppressive agenda.
If Christian gays start jabbing at trans people or another part of their community, that is unacceptable.
You hurt someone, you answer for it. Plain and simple. I don’t care if you’re queer, religious, both, neither.

If you're a self proclaimed "Christian" who won't call out racism, sexism, misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, antisemitism, Islamophobia, classism, ableism, xenophobia and any other form of bigotry and discrimination, you're not a very good Christian. If you endorse any of those forms of discrimination, I'd say you're not a Christian at all. Be a kind person and call out bigotry when you see it. It is unacceptable in truly Christian spaces.

After a period of delay, the study has finally been re-activated!!
I hate to spam tags, but I need about 50-75 more participants for my dissertation study looking at the impact of non-affirming Christianity on LGBT sexuality. Participants may be former or current Christians, from either affirming or non-affirming backgrounds/faiths. You must be at least 18 and have been sexually active to participate. You do not need to be from the United States. The study should take approximately 20-40 minutes and there is a $50 Amazon gift card raffle you can enter upon completion.
I'd really, really appreciate your participation, and it would really help forward understanding of how religion can impact people, especially queer people! Feel free to forward this to people you may know who might be interested.
(The survey is now closed as data collection is complete. Thanks to everyone who participated!)
You can contact me here or at [email protected] with any questions.

A Message to Queer People Hurt by the Church.
I don't know if I am in a place to do this, however I would like to apologise on behalf of Christians everywhere for our treatment, present and past, of the LGBTQ+ community.
I have faced homophobic discrimination at the hands of my churches under various justifications. None of it was okay. None of it will ever be okay.
Homophobia is hate. Transphobia is hate.
Jesus taught love. Jesus teaches love.
Love is love. Love comes in many forms. If you cannot see that, and choose to hate on those for whom they love, while still saying you're Christian, kindly, get your head out of your crusty asshole and read the bible.
LGBTQ+ Christians; I see you, I love you, and I am praying for you. Jesus loves you. God, in all their beautiful forms, loves you. You were made in God's image. You do not need to change for anyone.
Nga mihi

god created the day and night. the day turns to night; the night turns to day. there's dusk and dawn. satan did not create dusk, dawn. satan did not create the day turning into the night, or the night turning into day, god did. and god saw everything, and he said it was beautiful.
same applies to lgbtq+
(if you are not religious, this post is not for you. please just ignore this.)

I wrote this the other night after work as a way to put the dichotomy I feel as a queer Christian. It feels like I’m caught in the middle of a war zone. Like I’m being torn down the middle. Like I won’t ever belong to either world fully. It’s a painful thing that I struggle to express in words. Also I don’t think I’ve ever shared my poetry here before.
Image ID: White text on a black background. The text reads as follows:
I am caught in the space
Between gay bars and crucifixes.
Between drag shows and stained glass windows.
Between pride parades and protesters.
Between slurs hurled in hate
And sticks reclaimed as ours.
Between hate disguised as love
And love for everyone.
Between Stonewall and Calvary.
I am torn in the space
Between my faith and how I was born.
Between Heaven and Hell,
this is the space I own.
Caught between who I am
And knowing I might never
See Home again.
I belong to two worlds.
And I can’t fully exist
In either place.
I belong to the no man’s
Land between them both.
Is it truly no man’s land
If I build my home there?

I love how the community of progressive Christians & Christian mystics on Tumblr seems to be growing a lot over the past few months. For a few years, it seemed like it was only me and a handful of other people.
