as a huge warning this is gonna be LONG and fucking CONVOLUTED AS ALL HELL, and there's a bunch of background shit that i wont cover, because really i dont think people need to know 10 years of career to understand why it all boiled down these past days
everything under read more because i DONT KNOW HOW TO SHUT UP
the main players at hand on this entire situation are Min Hee Jin (MHJ for short) the CEO of Ador Ent -an entertainment company under HYBE Labels-, Park Jiwoon (PJW) CEO of HYBE, and Bang Sihyuk (BangPD) Founder and Chairman of HYBE, CEO of Big Hit Music and also the person you might know as the creator of BTS
back in 2019, the Music Label Big Hit Entertainment had grown so big thanks to the success of BTS that it was transformed into HYBE, a huge entertainment company that would proceed to acquire smaller music labels and give them full artistic liberty while working under the "HYBE Labels" umbrella -a few you might recognize would be Seventeen's PLEDIS and G-Friend's SOURCE MUSIC-, they would also eventually create their own sub-Labels, specifically enhyphen's BeLift and New Jeans Ador
like i said, these labels have freen creative liberty, and HYBE theorically is there mostly to give technical, legal and monetary support, as well as to ensure guidelines for the quality level and treatment of the artists under the label. Ador music, specifically, was given to Min Hee Jin to direct as CEO, who previously worked with SM Entertainment as a creative director for groups like Red Velvet and Shinee, and in that company she debuted New Jeans back in 2022
aside from all of this, BangPD STILL kept Big Hit Music as a completely independat company, that was in no way shape or form controled or affected by HYBE investors or management. in his own words "Big Hit Music exist to protect BTS to keep being what they are", and back in 2022 or so i believe, he stepped down as CEO of HYBE to focus on being one of the Main Producers at Big Hit Music once again
this is all a bit of background lore to understand what has been going on these past days which is. so fucking much.
SO.
3 days ago (April 22) it was reported by insiders that HYBE as a company had started an internal investigation about Ador's CEO (Min Hee Jin) and and anonymous VP who has been called "L", because they apparently were caught leaking confidential documents (including contracts) in attempts to attract investors and to get HYBE to sell their shares of Ador (Hybe owns 80% of Ador, MHJ owns 18% and there's another 2% held by other ador executives) basically, implying that Ador is trying to find away to buy itself out of being under HYBE. L is even suspected of feeding Ador confidential documents, trade secrets and other info necessary to separate Ador from Hybe since he began at Hybe.
Hybe confirmed this on the same day, and they said that they would persue legal action if needed. They even called for a shareholder meeting to reasses the situation of Ador, but since the bBoard of directors was supposedly compossed mostly of people loyal to MHJ, they announced that they would have to sue if the meeting was refused
then, on April 23rd, it was reported that HYBE indeed found evidence in computers that they seized for the investigation: they allegedly discovered an Ador document that outlined a plan to seize management rights.
also, Mr L reportedly downloaded a large amount of Hybe data before leaving Hybe for Ador. Even after switching jobs, he continued to download Hybe's settlement information (how much the artists were paid). Now, if this information was indeed leaked, it would be a huge breach of privacy under the Unfair Competition and Trade Secret Protection Act (basically a korean act that attempts to maintain fair competition between similar companies)
as an immediate response, Min Hee Jin basicallywent on a tirade about how BeLift's new girlgroup ILLIT is actually copying her group New Jeans, and how this was against her copyright and shit like that. genuinely i dont remember exactly, i didnt care that much about that part. but then on the next day she denied the takeover and all the other claims that HYBE is puting against her
which is WILD because HYBE literally claims they have proof of emails in which executives are talking about "becoming untouchable" -basically getting enough confidential informaiton that HYBE cant do anything to them- and even some in which she claims BangPD copied her to create BTS????????????? like MA'AM please be serious
ANYWAYS, from then on it's been a huge back an forth between her, HYBE and a bunch of insiders have been going to papers to anonymously talk about the situation -including HYBE employees talking about how she and all other Ador employees had a superiority complex and treated every other HYBE employee terribly, and how Ador syphoned HYBE resources without care, and now they were planning on claimin HYBE treated New Jeans -Ador- unfairly
the account @TMIkpop in twitter has an amazing timeline of the entire situation -as well as translations and summaries of articles aobut it- and i will put screenshots now:
now, by April 24th it was confirmed that MHJ filled the audit questionnaire, and she had not relinquished her laptop yet. meanwhile, HYBE called a board meeting for 30 April and if MHJ allies do not attend, Hybe will file an application with the court to conduct an extraordinary shareholder meeting
and then TODAY
HYBE confirmed that the audit secured evidence that under the leadership of Ador CEO there was a plan to take over management rights of Ador. and also, that they will file a criminal complaint with the appropriate police department today against Min Heejin and others involved in the entire situation
NOW THE WILDEST SHIT is that after all this is that a bunch of stuff starts to leak privately as MHJ announces that she will hold a press conference to give her response
some of the stuff that was leaked by alleged HYBE employees was that MHJ and Adore were, apparently, behind a bunch of Smear Campaigns against other groups under the HYBE Labels, specifically: LeSserafim and BTS, in an attempt to boost the popularity of their own group
and she apparently even WENT TO A SHAMAN! TO ASK FOR BTS HAVING TO GO TO THE MILITARY BECAUSE THEY WERE A THREAT TO HER SUCESS!!!!
all in all is a bunch of crazy talk, and there's a ton of stuff that i didnt touch, like the fact that apparently MHJ has been trying to manipulate the parents of the members of NJS into believeing that only Ador and her have the best interest of the NewJeans' girls in their mind, or the fact that in her press conference she did nothing but say weird shit about the girls in both NJ and LSF, cry and give no answer that helped her case at all
uh.
oh also, again, BTS are mentioned in all this because.... well, they are BTS, and their name is attached to both HYBE and BigHit, as well as their main producer BangPD, but in the end, this will have no repercutions on them specifically lmao they are still scheduled to come back towards 2025, and one of the member's new Solo album was JUST announced an hour ago, so really, this is just what army's are seeing happen while we wait for that
but yeah. it's been a mess, and honestly, i havent had this much Kpop industry drama since the who SM v KakaoEnt that was going on last year so it's very much welcomed

Reading a book about slavery in the middle-ages, and as the author sorts through different source materials from different eras, I am starting to understand why so many completely fantastical accounts of "faraway lands" went without as much as a shrug. The world is such a weird place that you can either refuse to believe any of it or just go "yeah that might as well happen" and carry on with your day.
There was this 10th century arab traveller who wrote into an account that the fine trade furs come from a land where the night only lasts one hour in the summer and the sun doesn't rise at all in the winter, people use dogs to travel, and where children have white hair. I don't think I'd believe something like that either if I didn't live here.
