✧ Then one day he couldn’t find you. Not in class. Not even in the common room. He saw your friends and searched and searched for you, but were no where to be found.

✧ That’s when he overheard saying something about you being in the infirmary.

✧ He panicked, of course Madame Pomfrey would be able to fix you. But what if you were in pain? What if you had hurt yourself so badly that you couldn’t come back to class for weeks?

✧ His crush felt overwhelming. Like his heart was on fire. It was torture, just waiting until you were out of the infirmary. So, he made a promise to himself that when he saw you in the common room, he would at LEAST, talk to you

✧ And then the very next day, there you were. Waving at a friend to come sit with you.

“Oh god,” he mumbled. Trying to talk himself out of it ... or into it. Honestly, Remus couldn’t tell.

“Mate.” James’ voice sounded behind him, a firm hand clapped his shoulder.

“Just go and talk to her,” Sirius chimed in.

✧ And he did.

✧ It was a mess.

✧ But because he put himself out there, you noticed him more and more. In the library, the Great Hall.

✧ And you waved to him. Smiled, spoke a little here and there.

✧ It was a gradual friendship. Slow burning. Similarly to the ache Remus felt in his chest whenever he saw you.

✧ It wasn’t until your last year when he thought he’d never see you again, when he asked you out.

✧ You WERE ECSTATIC. You had been waiting so long for him to make a move. But you weren’t sure he liked you in the same way you liked him.

Hihi! I'm so sorry Tumblr didn't give me the notification 😭 I'll try and have yours done sometime today or tmr since it's been a bit hectic w/ testing

Personality: I'd like to think I'm sweet - if not a little awkward especially when in the process of getting to know somebody since normally I'm hesitant to even really approach people. Same thing w/ my insecurities (personality, looks, interactions, etc) I don't normally like vocalizing them to anybody until after I've known them for like a few months at least and even then I have a tendency to either underplay it or just joke about it which tends to rub some people the wrong way when I do it.

I also can't read people or verbal cues at all - God forbid trying to flirt, it took me several months to figure out somebody liked me when they were trying to flirt with me, nor am I very good with my, or others emotions but I at least try to make an effort when they need comfort. I also have a bad tendency to be really forgetful/clumsy, frequently forgetting where I put various things or missing things in literal plain sight or just stumbling for no real reason or tripping on my feet. (Not that I mind anymore I've fallen enough times it's just a habit to get back up) ^^'

Completely off topic and I have no idea if you want to add it, I am nicknamed rabbit bc of the amount of times I accidentally eavesdrop bc I can't tune out conversations 😭

Also since I feel like I could add in my negative traits-

I have really (but weirdly spontaneous) times where I start overthinking things that have already passed by (like weeks have passed??) and I tend to get oddly emotional about it.

I also have a weird situation where I'm aware I'm not feeling and I don't know how to act when others get emotional- not that I don't want to help or anything- I just genuinely have no idea how to process emotion or how to hold onto my emotions for more than a few minutes no matter how strong it was/is, I have no idea if that's apathy?? Or if it's just me being a little silly, maybe.

Looks/Offtopic (although I'm not sure this is important??): I have dark brown eyes (although the pigment is closer to black) and the same for my hair, my hair is cut short (neck length) and is decently fluffy and disappointingly I'm stuck at 5'1. I'm a huge fan of animals and a complete pushover when it comes to them and as a hobby I play the violin or write little stories (that I probably forget about), I also love cuddling and typically can't fall asleep without a pillow being my cuddle buddy or somebody else, big spoon, little spoon, doesn't not matter - I just love cuddles.

Traits I find Attractive: I'm not really picky, imo, but I like being friends with a person before I date them, so I guess that qualifies as having a close bond with the person? I'm able to put up with most things but it's nice when the person I'm with will give me attention and stuff but also know when I'm getting frustrated and to stop pushing an issue (E,G: Somebody repeatedly reminding you to do something you know you have to do, when you're about to do it), that and PDA/Physical touch is something Id like as a touch starved person but of course not required from a partner. <3

Traits I dislike: In the most weirdly descriptive sense I can't stand people who try and tell me what I want to do or what I'm feeling when I am actually able to tell, like no - just because I'm not in the mood the talk to you doesn't mean I'm mad, stop trying to push it. Liars are also an issue, small lies like "I ironed your shirt" when they really didn't is perfectly fine its when their purposefully rude and manipulative about it

Silly Offtopic facts?: I cannot picture anything no matter how descriptive the context or clear the music, cannot do it. I also have absolutely terrible sense of direction (as in I literally can't tell South, North, East, West, etc) and a matching memory (I've forgotten my birthday like several times or more and other people's birthdays, etc). I've grown up around cats and ducks and just animals in general all my life and love them dearly. I also have a crippling dear of being forgotten after I'm dead so I've pushed myself to overachieve in literally everything.

(Also that's what I look like for a visual rep, [I tried I swear] it's a really rushed drawing and I forgot how to draw clothing 😭 tyy for the exchange tho!)

Diavolo's goal is to unify the three worlds so that each being from each realm can live in harmony. Having said that, as a demon, he does have little understanding or experience in the way humans interact with each other, but I feel that this the two of you could get along fairly well. Diavolo is a lonely prince at heart, and as you seem a little bit shy, it may take a while for him to worm his way into your circle. Wednesday, December 21, 21:48 UT - transiting Sun enters Capricorn (aka the Capricorn Solstice)

This should be a typical jog through Capricorn, for the Sun - the usual ups and downs and challenges and blessings. Take your time to have a serious look around, and pick out a Project for 2023. Don’t feel like you must make a snap decision - or that you need to show immediate progress. This should be something that takes you all year long.

Sorry if you've been asked this before, but what sign is Auguste? I noticed you have Laurent as a Taurus and Damen as a Scorpio.

Hey my lovely! It's no problem, I don't think i've ever said.

Beyond my Taurus and Scorpio hill (that I am willing to fight on forever more) I have flipflopped with Auguste!

This is probably going to be unpopular but for my fic specifically I settled on Pisces.

I know! But listen Pisces Sun with an Aries Moon.

Pisces are dreamers first and foremost and they are known as the creatives of the zodiac. Maybe I just romanticise Auguste but I don’t see him the same way I see Damen despite their obvious mirror intentions. I see Auguste as someone who has dreams but can’t follow them because he has a job to do- and because of this denial he often shirks said responsibility when he can.

Pisces can be incredibly irresponsible but they’d never hear it! Try to tell them so at your own peril because they will be offended and you’ve not been dressed down until you’ve been dressed down by a fuming mad Pisces who is wearing their favourite rose-tinted glasses.

There is a very good reason that Pisces are seen as wishy-washy and it’s because they spend a lot of time in their own head. They’re also incredibly charismatic. And it’s actually really annoying because they don’t ever try, they have a deeply intuitive way with people and charm everyone they meet.

There is something vulnerable about the Auguste I created and Pisces feels things deeply. They carry wounds and scars with them and are prone to bouts of woe is me at the very least if not full on depressive episodes. They are the sign of escapism. No matter what that looks like. As the creatives of the zodiac it often looks like art or writing but people tend to forget that creative walks hand in hand with a way of thinking and feeling that goes beyond a will to create physically. Sometimes, their eagerness to create looks more like a determination to curate their own world. This can look like jumping from job to job, travelling often, or – you guessed it- drug use.

Now I’m not saying every Pisces is an addict or experiments with drugs. But I am saying that at their worst Pisces love of escape and their love of creation and beauty and art, does sometimes lend itself to dabbling with substances that do this for them.

At their worst they can also be prone to a little bit of martyrdom. They can struggle to set boundaries and can get easily attached to people. They are also the Number 1 star sign for serial killers and I have a gross sense of humour so I thought that fit.

Because yes, sometimes Pisces has a rotten temper.

I think an Aries moon because the word that springs to mind for an Aries moon is now. They will follow their whims and want takes precedence over need. It’s a very charismatic sign but it is a temperamental one. It lends a fiery impulsiveness to the innate bury head in sand tendencies of Pisces Sun that I think embodies the way I have written Auguste.

An Aries moon can be prone to a little bit of a self-centred attitude – which isn’t always a bad thing, sometimes it simply looks like self-preservation- other times it looks like getting wrapped up in their own emotions and forgetting other people exist. I could say a tendency to need their loved ones to put them first when they are in that needy mood.

They’re also easily bored and the combination of Pisces/Aries makes them a contradictory person who is incredibly adept at convincing people to their way of thinking or feeling. And Auguste in my fic gets away with that quite a lot. This specific combination says calm on the surface and a riptide underneath. Which is pretty much how I wrote Auguste I think.

tarot-strology reflections: taurus / scorpio axis in the current sky

today, april 23, the moon will reach fullness in scorpio. directly across the sky, jupiter and uranus are conjunct in taurus for the first time since 1941.

it's time for something to change, for the walls to fall, for the earth to shift. i think about what's happening on american university campuses today: young people refusing to let the machine continue to churn while their money and resources - the domain of taurus's ruler, venus - continue to fund the genocide of palestinians. putting their physical bodies on the line and refusing to be moved. the bull would approve.

i think about the longstanding norms, beliefs, and power structures these students are challenging. their sureness, their conviction. i think about how well they know their history - how it feels in my body to see photos of today's gaza solidarity encampments alongside photos of that same campus filled with anti-war protestors in the 1960s. i think about how little has changed since then.

i think about what could happen if every one of us committed to stubbornness. if we all refused to let the world turn until the war machine ground to a halt. i think about how we are kept in a chokehold by our reliance on capital. how much it would take to overturn the structures that keep us tame. how much we owe it to the people of the world to try anyway.

Super unsurprisingly, my north node is in the ninth house of philosophy. This was a time when I was really worried about faith - I was in the process of leaving Christianity. Lilith conjunct midheaven in Taurus is fun - I was creating really weird obscure fiction and things.

Moon conjunct the sun in the 2nd house - I generally take my second house to be about moral values, so this seems strong

Pluto is still conjunct Uranus - which is an appropriate conjuncton for a time when I was getting deeply into the occult. By this stage I was working in a Buddhist shop, out of school, out of Christianity.

The North Node leaves nodal return in the fifth house of pleasure, at a time when I'm drinking more than I should. A little while after this I kind of stop taking magic so seriously, I also start smoking.

The north node is conjunct natal Uranus in the 11th house - I feel like I've found my tribe.

The Pluto-Uranus conjunction will remain a factor in my fact until 2010, by which time I've cut my hair, I'm taking a Library MA and I'm trying hard not to think about the occult or act unusual in any way.

North node exact over the south node. I was starting to write a lot more - Neptune in the 3rd house trine Pluto and sextile natal Neptune. North Node in the 11th House - I was finding my people again.

The South Node time was a time of having friends for the first time in a while, and a kind of sense of self. I wasn't just writing, I was creating something other people could enjoy. I was making friends based on writing and roleplaying. At this stage, I'm planning to move away. Mercury is conjunct my north node moving into virgo in the 5th house as I start to write a ridiculously mathematical story that's the first thing I wrote to go down really well.

Start of my second nodal return - I had a new job and a chaotic time in my life was finally over. Pluto squares the nodes for the first half of my nodal transit - Pluto was a big part of my last transit and this is a time to struggle with lessons not completely learned in the last nodal return.

My second nodal return started with Pluto and Venus conjunct my ascendant. A time for a bit of beauty and cam. And the North Node in the 6th house conjunct my IC. After a difficult year, this was the start of a quiet, enjoyable, Christmas holiday.

My North node return in a few months off and will happen in the 1st house with Jupiter and Uranus also in the first house.

My ascendent will be conjunct my natal sun in the 2nd house and there's a nice triangle between the ascendent, my natal Uranus (at the 9th house), and Venus in the 5th house. It could be an interesting time to reconnect with the more emotional and subconscious elements of my life.

End of the nodal return. The North Node leaves Aries in the 5th House, near to Neptune and Venus. Pluto, the Moon and Mercury conjunct in the 3rd house in Aquarius close by the ascendant makes me think this could be a good time to communicate about dreams, the occult and the subconscious. I guess we'll have to see.

I am not good at astrology yet. There's a lot I could focus on that I haven't. I think what this gives me is a mission to reconnect with the good things about my life in my last nodal return - art, caring about my surroundings, having a very strong spiritual side

🍩My experiences with each Moon sign🍩

(Cause yall are messy)

I have done this a few times before but for Sun signs and did rank placements but never shared my thoughts and experiences with the Moon signs.

Now I know how this goes, so if you get mad or sad then go off I guess. Aint the first time I get cursed out or attacked in this bitch. Plus, I am a Cap moon so naturally I won’t do well with some Moons and I will be nitpicking everything about everyone.

🍩Aries Moon🍩

My dad’s moon. Yup, that tells you alot without me even starting. Having our Moons in Square shit was hard to say the least. It took a long time for us to be on middle grounds and because I don’t feel comfortable talking about my problems here I will continue on. The Aries Moon that I really like and can think of is Rihanna, so I would say it’s unfair to make a whole judgment but from what I saw and heard they’re not exactly the best to be around. So I give them a 3/10 for being bold and having nerve.

🍩Taurus Moon🍩

Now this Moon right here I know people from ( a close friend and my sister, plus some others) and I don’t have many strong opinions about it. As a Taurus Sun, it can be a challenge to work with a Taurus Moon. I am stubborn at my core and they’re stubborn with their heart, so everytime we disagree it’s like a rope pulling contest. Way too stagnant for me but I think that’s because of my other placements and they don’t take any advice or open up no matter what. On to the good, I never disliked someone with this placement. No matter how much of an asshole they can be, to me it is difficult to hate them or stay mad at them. They’re warm, kind, and sweet but a bit aloof and naive, also they don’t like to touch and hug as some people might think. I will give them a 8/10

🍩Gemini Moon🍩

I only had one best friend with this placement and I don’t I want to meet any more, and I am at peace with that if they resemble her in any way. She was a maniac. She loved to lie, create drama, blow shit up, act crazy and basically be shocking. I do find similarities with Gemini Sun where they do shit for reactions but with her, she will take it to the next level. Lie about being raped, act possessed, or pretend that she is being followed. It’s not fair to associate her with people who share the same Moon as her but that was y’all’s representation in my life. She was erratic so it’s difficult to see where her Moon was in effect and where she was just off. I’ll give them a 1/10, would not recommend until proven otherwise.

🍩Cancer Moon🍩

The first that comes to my mind is Taylor Swift and to me she is the ultimate Cancer Moon. It juat makes sense how fast she takes it to the next level with people. Whether getting serious quickly with someone or throwing down and feuding. She just always at a 100. Personally, I never got close with someone who has this placement, maybe it’s because I am a Capricorn Moon myself, but I would say the ones that I have met were nice. I’ll give them a 5/10

🍩Leo Moon🍩

I only had one best friend with this placement but the people I have met with this Moon I still remember. They all had one thing in common and that was being emotionally traumatized and have lost one parent. My best friend was super loyal, very confident in what they believed in and represented, were always there for me and had an amazing ability in motivating others. But they were also super prideful and there’s no coming back with them. Fight once and it’s over. (Yes I am looking at you Jonnie). One of the other people was with me in uni and always had the to urge won up me and my friend. He had scars all over and he doesn’t remember how he got them. But he was super proud of himself and his home country, which I respect and admire. I’ll give them a 6/10

🍩Virgo Moon🍩

I know two people with this placement, my mom and a professor at uni, and oh boy it makes sense that they’re a Virgo Moon. Me and my mom are too alike that we clash strongly at times. She thinks she can do it better and I think I can do it better and we just have like a competition on who done it better basically. From cooking, to how you light the stove, to how you put on clothes, to how you lay down on bed. Both my mom and my professor are super critical and precise, althogh my professor is a double Virgo (Sun and Moon) so she will go even further. They have to do everything as it arises and act like there’s no time and everything is about to go wrong. Like damn sis chill the fuck out for a sec and this is coming from a Cap moon so you know it’s bad. But I really like Virgo Moon, even though people might hate such a personality but I can relate to them in some ways. I’ll give them 7/10

🍩Libra Moon🍩

My only online friend that I talk to all the time got this Moon. Other than her I met only two people and they were something. Okay so for my friend, because I never actually have seen her physically with my own eyes I can’t say how she acts all the time, but she is one of the best listeners I had in my life. She likes to hear me ramble for an hour about a dumb encounter that lasted a second, talking about astrology and some nerdy things and then not so nerdy things. I believe that it’s a Libra Moon quality to be emotionally versatile and attentive. I think because she is a Leo dominant she acts much fiery and fiercely than a Libra would. As for the other people I just thought they were fake. One acted as a friend but then would just disappear so I was over it quickly and the other was super passive and pretentious that I think she shits out plastic. All in all I think it’s a great Moon. I’ll give them a 7/10

🍩Scorpio Moon🍩

One of the hardest Moons I ever delt with but I find that I love them too. My oldest sister had this Moon and she is such a mystery. Because I am a Taurus Sun, it is only natural for me to have a hard time with a Scorpio Moon. Even though she is an extrovert, she rarely talks about herself and her feelings, you will never catch her slipping or show vulnerability. I can see how difficult it may be for her being a Cancer with a Scorpio Moon and have Gemini dominance. But she’s a bitch at heart and I am cool with it. I’ll give them 5/10 cause I am not a big fan of paradoxical people

🍩Sagittarius Moon🍩

A moon that I always babysat. I had two best friends with this Moon and if I was born a second earlier, it would mine too. I don’t know if it’s because of my Gemini Venus or my 0 degree Capricorn Moon but I love Sagittarius Moons. I was fortunate to see some of their weaknesses and for them to trust me enough to be vulnerable. But boy do they get themselves into the dumbest situation because they wanted to see what would happen. I had to babysit them and help them do everything like shopping, cooking, cleaning, assembling furniture, be their body guard when buying weed. (Shhhh it’s a secret). They’re in many ways immature cause they run from things and everytime you try to be real with them, they say “stop being negative”. I’ll give them a 9/10

🍩Capricorn Moon🍩

The grande dame of the Moon signs, sitting at it’s opposite planet. I have met many Cap Moons and honestly we are bitches 😂. The energy of sitting next to a Capricorn Moon is too fucking much like I never knew it’s like that. I noticed the way they stare, talk, walk and sit can be so aggressive and intimidating. I see why people might label us as bullies, cause the energy is definitely there and I myself was such a cunt (still a little but I am more aware of myself now) that I get where both are coming from. Life as a Capricorn Moon is emotionally flat. If wasn’t for my other placements you will never see me even flinch. I think we just take everything and let it process in our head before we let it into our hearts. So to me, we’re not mean, we just don’t see how something might be hurtful. But also that tone and that blank face, goddam! That’s why I try to smile cause bitch no, I didn’t know I was walking with a death stare this whole time. Anyways, I will give us 10/10 cause I am self appreciative like that 😂✌️

🍩Aquarius Moon🍩

I have always tried to understand Aquarius Moon and it was only a month ago that I have realized they themselves are not sure of who they’re. I had one best friend with this placement and three cousins (all siblings). First, my cousins are super competitive with each other on who gets to do what and if it happens that they’re similar in something they will get pissed. The person that was my best friend was like that as well. Only he would drop a an entire hobby, interest, something close to his heart, shit even a personality trait. I find them to be constantly changing and trying, so they shift between one end of extreme to the other until they center themselves. I’ll give them a 4/10

🍩Pisces Moon🍩

Now let’s talk about a depressing placement, in my opinion of course 😅. I don’t know if it’s the influence of Neptune on the Moon or is it the just the demeanor of Pisces, but good god girl get a grip (they call this the five G’s). My youngest sister is a Pisces Moon, and as creative as she is, she is pessimistic and overly cynical. I mean I am all for being critical and real but looking at everything with jacked up black sprayed glasses is just too much for me. Other than my sister I don’t know any Pisces Moon very well but I had a few acquaintances. I noticed that they talked about a specific thing and that’s it. I have found them to be amazing at drawing, painting and have an incredible artistic sense. At times twisted and dark, but I love the art that comes with it. I’ll give them a 5/10

Chemical Weddings in RWBY

So once upon a time Hamliet said she’d write a meta about ships in RWBY, and then arrived months later without Starbucks.

The central tenet of alchemy is solve et coagula: dissolve, and then coagulate. The process (RWBY appears to be following Ripley’s 12 Gates) repeats, rinses, and repeats again and again throughout the steps, “each time at a more refined level.” The point of a chemical wedding is to reconcile opposites, which is something I touched on in my pseudo-quick meta here. Lyndy Abraham, the author of A Dictionary of Alchemical Imagery, describes the chemical wedding as:

a crucial operation in the creation of the philosopher’s stone. The alchemists were ultimately concerned with the union of substances, the reconciliation of opposites.

Basically, it unites opposites (fire and water, air and earth, sun and moon, passive and active, etc., etc., etc.) and then the opposites start to take on each other’s qualities, creating the “Rebis,” or a person both male and female.

The first chemical wedding is usually somewhat violent, primitive even, whereas the second one signifies the creation of the stone. However, characters can have more than two weddings, and chemical weddings do not inherently have to be romantic--Sam and Frodo aren’t, for example--but most often are, because it’s the most obvious way to show a union between separate people (the old adage “two become one” in marriage, for example).

If we look at George Ripley’s 12 Gates, chemical weddings tend to be focused on in the fourth stage of conjunction (which I wrote about here) and in the ninth, fermentation (which is probably going to be in volume 10--maybe a little in volume 9, but traveling between worlds seems to be a hallmark of sublimation in fiction so I’m guessing we’re stuck there for the time being). But in a lengthy series spanning eight years and counting, there is going to be overlap.

So let’s talk about chemical wedding imagery historically. It tends to involve dissolution (via water or fire--keep in mind metal was associated with fire in olden days, so stabbing with metal was considered liquid fire, or so it was believed to be by alchemists) and then coagulation (healing/coming together).

Four of the five ships--two of whom are definitely happening, one of which I think is happening and one of which I think has a good chance--reference historical alchemical artwork and symbolism in key moments. (RWBY does reference alchemical artwork; see here and here.) So let’s dive in and examine potential chemical wedding allusions in RWBY:

Lie Ren/Nora Valkyrie (Renora)

Let’s start with the most obvious couple: Ren and Nora. Their first chemical wedding occurs when they are children. In alchemical art, birds are often used to show the volatility/primitiveness of a first chemical wedding:

The raven is replicated in the Nevermore which forms a similarly threatening pose over Ren and Nora when he unlocks his semblance to protect her, thus honoring his father and mother’s legacies.

You can even see earth (trees), water (river), fire, and air (the bird flying) in the scene as it pans out. After this, Ren and Nora become “Ren and Nora,” as Nora herself says in Volume 8. They’re inseparable, because they’re on their way to becoming one. However, unification doesn’t mean that they’re literally the same person; in stories like these, it’s more like they become better versions of themselves through growing towards each other and adopting each other’s traits (like Nora’s courage for Ren, and Ren’s caution for Nora).

Their second, elevated chemical wedding is in the same place as their first, when in Volume 4 they return to the village and defeat the monster they were too young to defeat last time. This time, Nora is the one who protects Ren by telling him he could not sacrifice his life by pulling Ren back, in a reversal of his running to her in their first moment years ago.

Like the first, there’s water involved--Ren and Nora hide next to a river, watching as the Knuckelvee advances on them. I talked previously how I thought this looked like a possible allusion to this alchemical image (look at the moon symbol on the head of the aggressor):

The moon symbol actually shows up quite a bit in this scene, first when Nora and Ren discover the Nuckelvee is still alive in the cave:

And then in the moment when they defeat it:

While I am certain this is a chemical wedding, I’m not certain why the moon symbol is so prominent in this, though I do think it is possibly in reference to this image and how Nora and Ren are united now:

Yang Xiao Long/Blake Belladonna (Bumbleby)

Firstly, the alchemy image is somewhat of a creepy image, right? In this, Mercurius has united the two principles by beheading them (amputation is a Thing in alchemy), leaving them to putrefy and then coagulate.

Like the Nuckelvee for Nora and Ren, Blake and Yang have a somewhat antagonistic Mercurius who unites them: Adam Taurus. He doesn’t cut off their heads, but he does seriously injure Blake and cuts off Yang’s arm in a scene that is romantically charged (you have Blake’s possessive ex telling her he’ll target someone she loves and specifically chooses Yang).

While I have my issues with how Bumbleby is written, it’s hard to interpret that as anything other than him seeing Yang as a rival for Blake’s affection.

Their second chemical wedding also involves Adam. There’s no one direct image that seems to have inspired it, but it does take place in a place full of waterfalls (fountains and flowing water in general, like the ones in Nora and Ren’s village, are common elements of chemical weddings’ settings) and by the ocean (the “mercurial sea” is where the elements dissolve to make the Philosopher’s Stone, so it’s also a common hallmark for chemical weddings).

(To briefly address this: this is where my complaints about the writing pile in, because you can also make a damn strong case that Blake and Sun fighting on the ship to Menagerie is a chemical wedding, which it is, but I think it’s clear at this point that Bumbleby is endgame. Either both were written for a reason, like if they weren’t sure if they could do Bumbleby, or a narrative reason, in which case Black Sun should have been dealt with rather than hand-waved away, or they were just teasing, but baiting fans is never, ever good writing; it’s cheap. All that to say that while I think there’s a compelling case they were interested in pursuing Bumbleby from the start, Black Sun shippers have a right to feel tricked and not all criticism thereof is based in homophobia or a lack of narrative understanding, or even in a dislike of the ship.)

At the beginning of this scene, Adam makes it clear that this is a redo of their previous chemical wedding by reminding them of it:

Blake stabs Adam with a silver weapon; Yang with red. We have earth, air (clouds), water, and weapons as a stand-in for fire.

It’s still somewhat of a violent wedding, which makes me wonder if Bumbleby will have a third (and Renora as well). But it also parallels Renora in this: returning to a pivotal scene where they were traumatized, but this time being able to overcome it because they’ve become more like each other. Blake is in many ways Yang’s trauma stretching far beyond Beacon (Blake runs away, as does Raven, Yang’s mother who abandoned her), and likewise Yang for Blake (she’s hotheaded and holds grudges, like Adam). But Blake and Yang have been working on becoming better versions of themselves.

At the end of this scene, they even exchange quasi-wedding vows (since Blake’s promise is to not abandon Yang):

And the artists drive home the point by drawing Blake’s hair far bushier than normal (more like Yang’s), and Yang’s far tamer than normal (like Blake’s).

Jaune Arc/Weiss Schnee (White Knight)

Weiss and Jaune have had one chemical wedding thus far (possibly two but not sure) and I didn’t ship them at all until I saw this scene. Like Bumbleby and Renora, they have an antagonistic Mercurius: Cinder.

(This one I’ll be arguing a little bit about why I think it’s set up for romance as well.)

In this scene, Cinder directly compares Weiss to Pyrrha in regards to how Jaune feels about them (and we know Jaune and Pyrrha were romantic--you can also argue Cinder was an antagonistic Mercurius uniting Pyrrha and Jaune).

When Weiss screams, Cinder gets an idea and slides her gaze from Weiss to Jaune.

And then reenacts this:

As I also mentioned previously, Jaune then plays the role of the Prince to Weiss’s Snow White (which is an alchemical fairy tale). Like when Ren unlocks his aura to protect Nora, Jaune unlocks his to save Weiss. Weiss looks as if she is in a glass coffin that gets more and more golden, symbolic of refinement.

It’s also probably an allusion to this image of a chemical wedding presided over by Saturn (Mercury in this scene, since he’s there) and Death (Ruby and Qrow, who are also present in the scene with Jaune and Weiss). (For more on this image, see here.)

Weiss and Jaune also have some oppositional imagery and arcs: Weiss starts Beacon with a deep family legacy and an inherited semblance, she chooses to go to Beacon on her own and is the favored child (at first). Jaune too has a family legacy of warriors, but instead of feeling empowered because of this, he is insecure and literally cheats his way into the school. He doesn’t have a semblance until season 5. After this incident, Weiss and Jaune spend some time recreationally together (seeing a movie in vol 7); Jaune becomes more confident as a leader, and Weiss continues her arc in becoming more sympathetic to those from less privileged backgrounds.

Arguably, what happened at the end of volume 8 could be seen as having some symbolism of a chemical wedding for Weiss and Jaune too, but I don’t think it actually is one since they weren’t focused on as characters enough (if this was intended to be the start of one, we’ll get something next season, I’d imagine). The only reason I’m mentioning it is because it does function as an inverse of the previous one, which is the case for Renora and Bumbleby’s first and second weddings too. Cinder again almost kills Weiss (she falls in the exact same position as in vol 5), but Jaune saves Weiss when he screams after killing Penny. Instead of saving Weiss by healing, he kills. There’s also some distinctive red and white imagery.

And then Winter arrives with a six-pointed star and birds before telling them to run together:

But again, I wouldn’t really call this one; it just has some imagery of one and fits a pattern, so I’m including it as a potential lead-in to an actual one in the void or later.

Ruby Rose/Oscar Pine (Rosegarden)

Like with Weiss/Jaune, I’ll be arguing a little bit about why I think this one is likely to end up romantic, too (for example, Cinder most recently in volume 8 used Oscar to taunt Ruby in a callback to using Pyrrha and Weiss to taunt Jaune).

Also: oh look, finally a wedding that isn’t violent. They just... meet. Which is also normal for a chemical wedding but less dramatic.

Behold, the bird uniting the solar king and lunar queen:

(Fun fact: unless CRWBY came up with ship names which I highly, highly doubt, this is pure coincidence, but it’s a funny one: the art series this image is taken from is called Rosarium Philosophorum--which literally means “rose garden philosophy.”)

Let’s look at the scene where Ruby and Oscar meet for the first time. What makes this a chemical wedding is in part how obvious their markings are and the overall imagery is in the scene.

They are united by Qrow (who in addition to being named after a bird can literally transform into a bird):

Oscar asks about Ruby specifically (yes, I know because Qrow’s her uncle, but the writing is telling us to focus on his relationship with her):

And immediately notes/is in awe that she has silver eyes (i.e. the moon):

Qrow seems to realize he’s done something momentous in a way that almost doesn’t entirely work within the frame of the narrative (but he is drunk, so).

The scenery of this room is also telling. The table is literally an Emerald Table, the legendary foundation of alchemy itself.

Once they sit and talk, behind Oscar are the elements of earth and water, which he represents, and also the moon, which while traditionally associated with earth and water, he does not (at least not as strongly as he’s associated with the sun/gold):

Similarly, behind Ruby we have the elements of fire and air (like, if you zoom in, they actually drew air), which she is marked as, and the sun, which again, she’s not as strongly associated with as she is with the moon:

In Splendor Solis, which CRWBY has referenced before, the Solar King does eventually end up grounded in the moon, and likewise the Lunar Queen in the sun:

Oscar and Ruby also do have oppositional arcs and roles: Ruby starts the series in the very first episode by being invited to Beacon two years early because of her leaping into action to stop Torchwick. She’s scolded for her recklessness, but immediately picked out as special because of her silver eyes. In contrast, Oscar is reluctant to leave his farm once Ozpin inhabits him; he refuses at first, and then once he does leave, is nervous and timid.

Anyways I wouldn’t be surprised if Qrow arrives in Vacuo with RWBYJ in tow and this time reunites Ruby with Oscar in an inverse. We’ll see.

I do want to say that I also see potential for Emerald Sustrai/Mercury Black, in that they often act as one and share a theme song, but I haven’t seen any actual visual references to a chemical wedding for them... yet.

🌻 Having personal planets spread out in 5 different signs can make for a bit of an identity crisis hahah I have sooo many different interests and people find me to be one confusing ass person , it’s taken me years to find this as a blessing in disguise as I can relate to these 5 signs and with a wide variety of people quite easily.

🌻My Mars in Pisces ♓️ in the 11th house does in fact make me stick up for the underdog , i am not attracted to feet at all , and when I am in a sexual relationship I prefer to be friends with my lover. The detachedness from the 11th house with the watery energy in my Mars is a fucking contridiction . I find myself needing emotional intimacy with a partner but then when I’m in the act I can be in another world , I usually get pulled back with kissing 😽

🌻my Venus in Aries ♈️ in the 12th house is another paradox. I’m definitely more toned down than other Venus in Aries placements. I love the chase , but then one day you may get a shy side of me . It’s this hot and cold kind of energy which probably confuses the shit out of people , but at the end of the day I go by how I feel . Once in a committed relationship I’m IN IT , I have zero desire for anyone else . I feel like a Gemini , then I also feel like a Leo rising and have a lot of Leo rising traits , but my sun feels like a Pisces some days too and I have the traits of a 12th house sun , buttt on other days I feel like a first house sun and carry a lot of 1st house sun traits 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’ve been working my ass off with working with my emotions. Just because you have certain placements or energies or aspects doesn’t mean you can’t learn to deal with them in a healthy manner.

🌻I’ve noticed that I have a lot of air moon friends , I find that I learn from them and question how they deal with their emotions , I find them fascinating that they can detach and analyze them or mind map them . I teach them how to feel the emotion and they teach me how to not get so damn lost in my emotions .

🌻 Moon in the 2nd house ; classic eats to emotionally feel better , another thing I’ve been working on . Instead of going for chocolate let’s dig around and see why we feel like this and not try to bandaid it .

🌻Jupiter conjunct Chiron , I’m half Caucasian and half aboriginal . I didn’t get to grow up with my aboriginal side of the family and on my Caucasian side I’m the only one who’s of a different ethnicity . I felt between worlds in a way growing up , I never knew where I fit in and never felt like I could fit in anywhere . It was this walking in the middle feeling .

🌻Pluto in Scorpio conjunct Black Moon Lilith in the 6th house . I remember being a kid and like some parents hating me .. for no reason . I also remember adults sexualizing me before I even knew what it was or was having sex . This aspect opposite my mercury in Taurus in the 12th house makes me extremely into psychology and esoteric studies . I find dating to be difficult at times because I can read douche bags like an open book . Hahah Lilith and Pluto in the 6th Opposite my mercury I find myself in a lot of sexual innuendos 🙄 . People sexualize me at everyday boring things , work , running errands , the *gym . When I was young and didn’t know how to deal with my emotional state this combo was deadly , depression, anxiety , suicidal thoughts . The Plutonian energies were so intense .

🌻 Uranus retrograde in the 8th house . Ummm yeah I know I’m weird , but have no fucking clue why lol 😂. BRF Reading, 5/8/2021 (Part 2)

The cards were drawn around yesterday (4/8) afternoon my time, around 4-5pm.

This is the second spread I drew on the same question I asked a few nights ago. The first part can be found here.

As written, this is merely a speculation and therefore must be taken with a grain of salt. This speculation is not true until proven otherwise.

My question is, how would August be probably like for the BRF as a whole?

Cards drawn: The Devil, Ten of Cups, The Empress, Eight of Wands, The Sun, The World, Ace of Wands Underlying energy: The Magician

Remarks/Comments: Again, five of the eight cards are major arcana cards. This seems to reinforce that this month we will perhaps be seeing an unexpected change, or that this is a very important question for us all who follow the BRF. This is probably one of the more difficult readings I've done recently. The entire reading was rather shaky because the cards were difficult to grasp, but the energy was, more or less, the same as the previous reading: the family was stuck, unable to move forward.

Summary: This month, the BRF will once again have to deal with the Harkles and their shenanigans, but we might also be getting news of pregnancy.

First card: The Devil. This is the card of base instinct, bondage, depression, materialism, lust, temptation, basically everything that restrains you from living up to your full potential. He is a card of inner force, as opposed to external forces, as this card usually speaks about the limitation within ourselves: fear, addictions, harmful attachments, impulses. Astrology-wise, this card represents a Capricorn person.

I am rather ambivalent as to who or what this card is about in regards to my question, so I decided to ask for clarification three times and the cards just don't seem keen on answering me. I asked about this card and got answered by this card as its own clarifier...welp. Though they do say third time's the charm, and at last, the cards seem to be keen enough to give me an answer.

Clarifier 1: The Moon. This card often appears when we're talking about the Harkles, so this card coming up as the clarifier of The Devil does seem to affirm to me that this card is about the Harkles and their shenanigans.

Clarifier 2: King of Swords. He is the most severe of all Kings. He is intelligent and truthful, he believes in order, systems, and following the rules. He has a tactical mind and a sound judgment, owing to his affiliation to the Swords, the suit of mind and thoughts. This card comes across as the BRF as the institution.

Having been clarified, I think The Devil affirms that this month we will probably see another head-to-head between the Harkles and the royal family. As I pondered over the cards, I also noticed that this card speaks about bondage. While this might be a little bit of a stretch, this card reminded me of the first spread I did on this question: the BRF was in a bit of a tight spot (bound) due to Meghan and her plans for the future. The Devil also signifies that they have the power to break free, provided they are willing to work towards that.

Second card: Ten of Cups. One of the most positive cards in the deck, this card speaks about fulfillment, a happy marriage, home life, prosperity, positivity, and joy. Because this card appears with The Devil, this card suggests that there is some kind of contention and confusion inside the BRF, particularly concerning Meghan and Harry as seen in the first card, which is clarified by The Moon.

Third card: The Empress. This is the card of fulfillment, contentment, creativity, passion, abundance, children, motherhood, and happiness. She is ruled by Venus, the ultimate feminine archetype. Honestly, at this point I am confused -- why are you here? I decided to draw two other clarifiers to this card:

Clarifier 1: The Wheel of Fortune. This is the card of fate, what goes up will go down, new beginnings, and aspects of luck. This card suggests that this month there would be a change of luck, for better or worse, I do not know.

Clarifier 2: Queen of Pentacles. *sigh* Look. The moment I saw The Empress and Ace of Wands in my cards, my thoughts immediately go to "someone is pregnant!". I kind of don't want to say things like this because I don't want to have angry anons come over to my inbox and say things like "you say ____ is pregnant!" or "where's the baby??" or "boo you get my hopes up" because first of all, I don't wave my cards in the air and boom, I make someone pregnant -- this is not how the shit works. Second, who am I, really, to say that there will be pregnancies this month or next month or next year or in ten years? But the Queen of Pentacles had to show up.

Queen of Pentacles is the ultimate motherhood archetype. She is a strong female figure, grounded, motherly, practical, secure, and wise. This card speaks about fertility, wealth, success, nurture, home, happiness, and prosperity. Belonging to the Pentacles, the suit of earth, this card represents someone that is either Taurus, Virgo, or Capricorn, and in this reading, I feel this card represents Catherine, a Capricorn, so yes...take what you want of this card.

Fourth card: Eight of Wands. This is the card of travel, movement, speed, haste, and progress, but also about delay and setbacks. Again, this is the same message I saw from my first spread: delay, inaction, being in a tight spot.

Fifth card: The Sun. This card appears as the pair to the Eight of Wands. As The Sun appears twice in my two spreads, this card seems to affirm to me once again that yes, Meghan is the reason why BRF seems to be stuck and delayed, that there is just inaction on their part.

Sixth card: The World. This card is the card of completion, an end of a cycle, and heralds a new phase of life. This card comes as the pair of The Empress, which has been clarified as such, and thus, the energy of this card is the beginning of a new phase in life.

Seventh card: Ace of Wands. This is the card of new beginnings, energy, enthusiasm, wit, movement, and fertility. This card is concerned with the world being fertile for you to plant your ideas but is also concerned with actual physical fertility. This card appears with The Empress and coming after The World, this card particularly drives home the idea that we may be getting the news of pregnancy. I cannot emphasise it enough, all of these are simply possibilities; just because my cards say we will be getting the news of pregnancy this month does not mean that we will actually be getting news of pregnancy.

Underlying energy: The Magician. This is the card of manifestation, focus, goal, learning, studying, and transformation. He is a card of beginnings, carrying with him the same energy as the Ace of Wands. He is associated with the planet Mercury and carries with himself skill, logic, and intellect, implying that this month there will be a manifestation (pregnancy) and that the BRF needs to be on their toes, using their intellect, skill, and logic to navigate through this month.

Conclusion: I honestly dread the day my cards say there would be news of pregnancy or that pregnancy is in the air. But when you have The Empress, the Ace of Wands, The World (and Ten of Cups) in one reading, it's hard to discount that possibility. Then again, this is all simply speculations, and it doesn't mean we will actually be getting news of pregnancy this month.

Overall conclusion: Combining the first spread I did for this question, this month for BRF can be summed up as such: the BRF as a whole is in a bind, in a tight spot due to the Harkles and their shenanigans -- there would probably be another head-to-head between the Harkles and the BRF even if it is not public (minor suits, the King of Pentacles and the King of Wands in my first spread). This month would probably bring about a change or transformation (Death from the first spread) into the family; if Catherine is pregnant, then that transformation would be in form of expectations of a new baby as the family prepares for the arrival of the baby.

Yeah I agree with you, virgo was the last thing on my mind, even tho I think I first typed him as Leo Rising after thinking I was like 100% earth (more Taurus than anything) + 5th house placements so I wasn't wrong, but not right either 😂 I am actually excited to do this
