So I’ve been thinking more about one of the more subtle but striking questions brought up by Ruby’s tree vision:
Tumblr media
Namely; to where or rather to who were Raven and Summer portaling to? After all, it’s been established that Raven’s semblance, Kindred Link, allows her to create portals specifically to people she has established a certain bond and connection with.
And this is particularly interesting, because of the people we thus far know have Raven’s ‘Link’, only ONE was otherwise not present in the flashback; Qrow.
And wouldn’t you know it; Qrow also happens to be one of the people we can definitively say DOESN’T know what happened to Summer, going off his talk with Ruby in Volume 7 where he mentions having no idea where Summer went or what she was doing on her mysterious last mission.
Now, as I’m sure some people will bring up, it IS possible that Qrow was actually present and is simply keeping quiet about it to Ruby. However, personally I seriously doubt that. As I simply don’t see the writers cheapening such a personal and important scene between Ruby and Qrow by later revealing that Qrow was actually outright lying to Ruby at the time.
So that seemingly leaves us with seemingly only one other option: That Summer and Raven portaled to someone else.
As to who that someone might be? Well personally, I think it would have to be someone we likely haven’t met yet. I know some people have suggested it could have been Ozpin, but frankly I don’t buy that one bit. Whatever happened to Summer is clearly meant to have MASSIVE implications, impact and general status-quo shattering revelations, all things it would make much more sense that Oz has NO idea to. Not to mention it’s kind of hard to imagine Raven forming a link, clearly a very close connection, with someone she seems to have always distrusted like Ozpin. Meaning that we’re left with a character that we simply haven’t be introduced to yet.
However, after giving it some more thought, I think there may be a THIRD option:
Raven and Summer DIDN’T actually portal to a person.
Remember just how we learned the mechanics of Raven’s semblance?
It was via Yang explaining it, via information she was told by TAI.
Here’s the thing though; Tai certainly knew how Raven’s semblance worked back when they were a team with Summer and Qrow. But it’s also been a LONG time since then. And wouldn’t you know it, these last couple volumes have ALSO introduced us to the concept of SEMBLANCE EVOLUTION.
So what if in the near-twenty-odd years since leaving her team, Raven’s semblance ALSO ‘evolved’? To the point where she can form her ‘Links’ with more than JUST people?
Perhaps now Raven can form a link with objects that have particular significance to her? Or, and this one I find the most compelling, LOCATIONS that are particularly important to her?
It’s funny that we’ve never actually known for sure where or to who Raven has been portalling to all the times we’ve seen her. Sure, in hindsight I think we’ve all been assuming it was Vernal in Volumes 2, 3, and 4, and to Taiyang at the end of Volume 5. But the funny thing is, we DON’T actually hear the characteristic sound of Raven’s portal opening in the V5 post-credits scene with Tai, only the flapping of wings. Implying that Raven may not have actually portalled to Tai directly…
Meaning that throughout the show, perhaps Raven wasn’t actually portalling to Vernal, but rather to the camp, the home which now has great significance and meaning to her. And at the end of Volume 5, she portalled not to Tai, but rather to the home she once had on Patch. Or, for the REAL spicy alternative, to Summer’s grave.
So what if at the start of their world-most-homoerotic-suicide-mission together, Raven and Summer portalled not to a person, but rather to a LOCATION that Raven was able to set up a link to?
(shoutout to @mikey-polo420 for the ask that got me thinking about this :D)

After seeing Jaune's original concept art and how much it resembles Oscar...
It made me think, what if Ozpin's soul transferring to Jaune was absolutely locked into the story?
Naturally, many would say Oscar's removal helps alleviate cast bloat. Hard to beat that argument. However, what if he were still involved? Only, rather than being Oz's host, his role is something more wholesome: he is Jaune's anchor to life alongside Nora, Ren and Ruby.
Perhaps he's a student at Haven with his own fighting style, perhaps they rescue him in Mistral as another victim of the Grimm. Either way Oscar presents an innocent, green POV for Jaune to look back on who he used to be. Jaune still lost Pyrrha, and now has a man he loathes suck in his mind. Nora, Ren, and Ruby are the ones keeping him grounded. With time, Jaune slowly opens up to this new young friend. Without the Ozpin angst, Oscar's empathy, his curiosity, his understanding, his support to the people who let him into their lives is allowed to shine. If allowed to travel with RWBYJNR to Atlas, Jaune finds someone he didn't expect to find in Oscar, a little brother...

It's pretty interesting that the Blacksmith has records of Hunters from Remnant despite being in the Ever After, so I think they might be Alyx reincarnated.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Both Alyx and the Blacksmith are designed with Afro-centric features in mind (for me the hair locs in the Blacksmith were the main giveaway).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alyx's waistband looks similar to the colours of the locs.
And we can't forget the quote from the latest episode, "Alyx wanted to fix everything she broke in the Ever After." And guess what blacksmiths do.

Team RWBY returning to Beacon near the climax of the series. Them walking among the ruins of their old school, lamenting over how it feels so long ago, while reflecting on how much they've grown since.
Give me the nostalgic pain RT.

So, we can all agree that when Oscar eventually gets his semblance, it's going to have something to do with Ruby, right? And I'm not even saying this from a shippy lens. Kid has an immortal wizard move into his brain at 14 that he can't kick out, immediately becomes a child soldier, lives through a train crash, countless grimm fights, crash lands a plane, gets shot in the chest, falls for - quite possibly - a few kilometres after blowing up a hole in the bottom of a military compound, gets beaten up and abducted by a goopy grimm super monster, magic blasted by his headmate's ex-wife, tortured and beaten up by a man six times his size, fights off Salem again to save his friends, and not ONE of those instances has been stressful enough to awaken it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But both times he's talked about his semblance manifesting, it's been with Ruby. The first is in v5 after they spar and Ruby cheers him (and Jaune) on about getting there one day, while Ren makes a comment saying:
"One common philosophy is that a warrior's semblance is a part of who they are".
The second time is in v7 when Ruby does something new with her own semblance and Oscar asks if she's always been able to do that. Eventually leading to him lamenting again about how he's not unlocked his yet while everyone else's are evolving. And it's Ruby that responds with:
"Well, I'm sure we'll all be jealous when you do (figure it out)".
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then, from both Ruby and Oscar's perspectives, we are shown their attachment to each other. Ruby throughout V9 with Neo's illusions, and Oscar with - many instances - but especially in the recently released epilogue where he speaks at her grave. And in this speech we're reminded of that attachment as well as his struggles with identity. Specifically how those two things are intrinsically linked together:
"You always believed in the best. Saw people for who they really were. Some of us... don't know anymore. "
Oscar can't grasp his own personal super power that's "a part of himself" when he doesn't know who he is. He's losing himself to the merge, the boundaries of where he ends and Oz begins are blurring by the day, and he's only 15 and still growing into the person he could become. And the one person that was always certain of who he was, always made him feel like he was his own person... isn't around anymore. So he feels even more detached from his identity and the parts that comprise it than ever before.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But she returns in Vacuo before their final fight, and his semblance has been teased too many times to never appear. So my current guesses are either:
he's going to unlock it under stress to save Ruby from certain danger, because he "lost her once and won't risk it a second time"; or
he's going to unlock it in a different, maybe even quieter moment, where - once again, thanks to Ruby's certainty - he starts feeling like himself again.
Only one way to find out.

Jaune may have been sleep deprived
After rewatching The Perils of Paper Houses, I realized something, I don't think Jaune haven't been sleeping.
The first was what he said after running out the hut to Juniper.
Jaune: I overslept… I never oversleep
The second was him explaining team RWBY what he been doing while waiting for them.
Jaune: between protecting the village, searching for you guys, searching for an exit.
Witch leaves the question, when did he have time to do all that, especially after saying he can't leave the pleasers to die?
The answer is on the last item on jaune's list Get Paper Pleasers to bed, meaning he waits for them to sleep before exploring the other acres.
Witch explains why in Confessions Within Cumulonimbus Clouds, he was in a hurry to get back to the village before they wake up and as the end of chapter 3 shows that each acres has a different time zone.
Tumblr media
So while doing all that when does Jaune have time sleep he doesn't, he been keeping himself awake wich also explained why he ask team RWBY if they were real, people who are sleep deprived tend to hallucinate, so the reason he overslept because It was probably the first night he slept in a long time.
What do you guys think.

Ok but Neo is definitely returning at some point, and on the side of the heroes. The portal takes you to when you’re needed most so, most likely, a time will come where they need Neo’s semblance, or backup in a fight, and she’ll appear.
Because part of what she’ll learn in the Tree is what Alyx did in her story - that she needs to try and fix what she’s broken. And that means helping the people she went out of her way to hurt.

thinking abt how we all think the dust robberies during the Beacon arc were just a scrapped plot of the series
but currently in the show, the kingdom of Atlas has been destroyed
and Atlas was the main source of dust to the rest of Remnant
meaning that in vol10 we might get to see Remnant dealing with an enormous dust shortage
which might be made worse by the fact that the enemy decided to hoarde a lot of it a few years prior
so perhaps there's a chance the plot wasn't as forgotten as we assumed??

My analysis and theory for a possible arc for volume 10 of jaune
Tumblr media
Good afternoon everyone, Just a warning, this post contains some spoilers.
Something that I analyzed with the episode is this issue of Jaune's time on the island and off it, and this issue of mentality divide and well the only thing that left him standing was his friends and the comfortable situation shown in the bonfire scene. In my view, Jaune is going through the ''spider man'' dilemma. He unintentionally achieved something that put a history in the world, a symbol for many people, but he also still feels confused because of the issue of becoming old and young again, Jaune He is no longer just a hunter, he is one of the historic figures in the RWBY universe.
Tumblr media
Having him and Oscar talking about this is something very incredible to see because both characters are going through something similar.
Theory session
That's why I theorize that if we had a volume 10 it could explore a lot of things but for me I hope it explores Jaune apologizing and renewing his friendship with Ruby, It's something that very well established in volume 9 explores Weiss and Jaune's relationship because they were both helping each other a lot during the screen time they both had, and there's also a very good analysis about the ship on tumblr that I recommend you all read too.

Okay, so it seems like Ruby was sent to the Tree at the end of this episode.
And we still haven’t gotten our second meeting with the Mysterious Blacksmith where we get her ‘What if you could leave Ruby Rose behind...?’ line from the trailer.
Tumblr media
Yeah, I’m calling it now that the Blacksmith and her forge have been inside the tree this whole time.
And of course, she’s who Ruby is going to be meeting next episode XD

RWBY BEYOND EP2
Do you ever feel life is laughing behind your back
Tumblr media
banana boy forever
Spoilers ahead
So, very interesting episode Firstly the lose end,Alex was from vacuo pre war as many suspected.
Then the merge of Oz and Oscar, many people will be scared by how "quickly" Oscar has merged but remember it has been a good few months by the time RWBY&J get back to vacuo and we don't know when this little chat is happening.
I wonder if Jaunes journal will become significant later, perhaps he'll get inspired by it and know how to trap Salem or something
But I am enjoying it, it brought a tear when JNPR where at that campfire and the art style is still amazing.

Thinking about the many retellings of Little Red Riding Hood. Thinking about how the Grimm versions moral of the story is not to stray from the path you were given or you could get hurt.
Thinking about how the woodcutter/huntsman in many versions of little red riding hood uses an axe to cut open the wolf and free little red riding hood. Thinking about how we’ve already seen an axe.
Thinking about Ruby Rose Ascending and realizing she isn’t just the helpless little red riding hood who went too far off the beaten path and made so many mistakes, she IS the huntsman. She gets to choose if her story has a happy ending or not. She is a huntress!

From Dust Till Dawn
Tumblr media
This Dust Shop appears in RWBY's very first episode and its name is interesting:
It is a pun of "from dusk till dawn"
It introduces the idea of dawn, which might be an important motif in the climax of the series
As a matter of fact this idea comes up:
In the CFVY's novels, which are called respectively After the Fall and Before the Dawn
In Checkmate, where the lyrics say:
Will you master the night, or wait for the dawn?
I would not be surprised if the word "dawn" gets associated to the final fight of the series, which will lead to a new future. So, it will be the dawn of a new world.
If this happens, then the series goes from the Fall of Beacon to the Dawn of Remnant. From dust (remnants) to dawn (a new beginning).
Bonus
Yang and Ruby meet at dawn in the Yellow Trailer, as if the point is that RWBY will lead the world to the dawn:
Tumblr media
Bumbleby kiss in a purple/golden sky, which resembles a sky at dawn:
Tumblr media
Wouldn't be surprised if all the main ships exchanged a kiss at dawn.

Okay, short version: I know everyone’s freaking out about old man Jaune, but my main takeaway from this episode is that one way or another, Penny’s not dead-dead.
With the explanation of how reincarnation works in the Ever After and the Blacksmith saying “Nothing - no one - is ever truly lost” specifically in relation to Ruby asking about Penny’s sword  and the sword then showing Penny’s reflection right afterwards? - yeah, I don’t think the writers could spell out “Penny’s not truly gone” any clearer if they tried.
Actually the, “Little is Penny” theory is seeming crazy likely right now!
2 moments specifically stood out to me here:
1. Right after the moment above^ with Penny’s sword, the Blacksmith asks Ruby if she’s lost and if she’s alone, and right after that Little wakes up and answers the “Are you her guide?” question with “Yes, Ruby is my friend!”... mmm hmm, that had the same Penny-vibe as Little being excited to be called Ruby’s friend in E2. Also just like at the auction, Little is again involved in a “Ruby with Penny’s sword” scene, while the rest of Team RWBY is doing something else. Everyone else being busy with other stuff while Little is always in these “Penny’s sword” scenes in ways that feel meaningful is... well, it’s giving me *something*.
2. The curious cat’s explanation of reincarnation perfectly lines up with this theory. If the “central location” (the doorway-place between Atlas/Mantle & Vacuo) was already part of the Ever After, then Penny couldn’t have truly died there and would have instead gotten reincarnated as someone else without her memories.
And very specifically, when the Curious Cat talks about the Red King getting reincarnated as the Red Prince, they say this line: “While the Prince may not remember Alix’s deception after ascending, the heart very rarely forgets.”
THE HEART VERY RARELY FORGETS
Why have this line if not to foreshadow that someone else’s heart didn’t forget their fondness for Ruby?
Little is Penny. I was half-joking before, but I'm actually serious now.
