So... I’m going to write a Bruno angst fic but I need some advice on things I want to add. 💚⏳
I know this has been brought up numerous times but I know it’s a complex topic that many people have differing opinions on. I want to depict Bruno having OCD that goes along with depression and his own trauma. I would like to state that I do struggle with mental illness but not OCD specifically and I am doing my own research (reading articles, watching testimonials, etc...) to make sure that I can understand the basis of the disorder along with its subtypes. Another thing I want to say is that I am not Latin American so I don’t have personal experience with the culture or how this disorder may manifest in said culture. I understand that superstitions are prevelant in Latin American culture and OCD and superstitions are not one in the same whatsoever. That isn’t why I have this headcanon. I just feel like it would make sense for him to have OCD because of the trauma he has endured and the anxiety he’s depicted as having in the books and somewhat in the film. I also know that culture can impact how a certain disorder presents. And I’m very aware that OCD, along with other mental illnesses are not “quirks” meant to be taken lightly. I want to show the character actually struggling with these intrusive thoughts and compulsions. I also want to add the element of not being completely aware of the illness since I know so many people (especially those from other cultures) go undiagnosed and are either misinformed or unaware.
I know that the family’s reactions along with original characters play a part as well. I also want to make superstitiousness be prevalant in other characters but not to the extent that it is distressing to showcase the difference.
I just want to hear thoughts and advice from people with the disorder and Latin Americans with it as well. How can I portray both mental illness and the culture in a respectful and realistic way?

its kinda crazy that yall will apply real world politics and situations to gotham when it comes to jason and his ‘vigilantism’, but never choose to take that angle when analyzing any other bat character’s
brother eye from batman? hello? does constant nonconsensual surveillance seem like an ethical way to keep an eye on supposed allies or stop crime in real life? does beating people up until they comply with u (under fucking duress) seem like the ethical way to produce testimonies and confessions?
but nah, one speech from jason in utrd and yall are up in arms about how nothing he’s saying is actually conducive to lowering crime rates.
at the end of the day, it doesn’t fucking matter who’s right and who’s wrong regarding these morals in real life because the dc universe is so fucking far from reality in the crime that the justice system has to deal with. there is no point in arguing a reality standpoint if its not going to be applied to vigilantism in the bat comics as a whole.
and on the topic of fiction, the willful ignorance as to how jason’s story also portrays a victims revenge/justice is just boring at this point. how are themes in a narrative not coming through to you. especially when doing literature analysis for any of these comics.

I love three houses discourse because I'm pretty sure everyone just picks their route based on which house leader they're the most gay for and then tries to defend their pick by pointing out the other sides's war crimes via twitter memes. Reader, all four of them do substantial quantities of war crimes. So many. We're just here because the woman with Issues and a big fuck-off axe said so, and then we gotta justify everything she did in the name of dismantling the class system. I mean, I'm here for that, but you could also try justifying Charm Man uses poison and perfidy to try to stop racism, A Sad Little Meow Meow gives no quarter instead of doing therapy, or the Thicc Pope tries to bring back her mom via human experimentation, depending on your tastes

I don’t know how I never played any of the Nancy Drew games as a kid, I love point and click and I love Nancy drew and I would have been all over them!! My sister and I are playing through them together now and it is just an absolute joy. (She is however much better at puzzles than me so idk maybe they would have frustrated me as a kid)
Also it’s giving me some inspo to ~actually~ practice drawing and backgrounds etc. so anyway here’s treasure in the royal tower WIPS. I really want to do some actual illustrations from these games.
Also Evelyn/gabsmolders streams are just prime content for background comfort noise when pain flares or fatigue keep me in bed.
