Btw, what are your feelings on the idea of Oshus and Wind Fish being the same deity, just in different timelines?

I... kind of hate that idea? It just rubs me the wrong way. I kinda of dislike the general idea of similar deities in the Zelda series being the same thing simply because they're a little too similar. There's three separate whale deities in Zelda and I wholeheartedly believe that they're all distinct, separate entities.

Plus, while there are similarities, being that both of them lord over a sort of alternate dimension, where the outsiders enter via dreams, there are also some differences that make them differ too much for them to just be alternate timeline versions of each other. For one, they look different, which isn't much, but is enough for me.

How they generally work is also the biggest reason why they just. Are not the same thing. The Wind Fish seemingly only holds power over Koholint, while Oshus's domain includes pretty much an entire alternate Great Sea. The Wind Fish is more or less alone as the sole deity of Koholint, while Oshus operates along with the three spirits, that frog, and the thing that upgrades the spirits.

Another similarity is the respective enemies, the different bosses pretty much being extensions of the main villain, but Nightmare and Bellum are... certainly not the same, either, and I'm bringing these two up since they're pretty tightly connected to the Wind Fish and Oshus.

PLUS when the Wind Fish 'wakes up' everything goes away. The only exception being Marin if you win without dying. (I don't know what the Wind Fish has to do with that and I do not have enough investment in Link's Awakening to go into it.) Oshus is awake the entire game and the condition for Link and the others to leave is simply just. Oshus letting them go home after seemingly deciding the amount of time that has passed for them. (I very very strongly believe that Linebeck is originally from the same world as Tetra and Link and there's a lot more to this but that is not what I'm talking about here)

Even further, Koholint seems to be contained within the Wind Fish itself, since after it disappears Link seems to see it afterwards. On the other hand, Oshus seems to be within his own world instead, the inverse, especially since it's implied he and other entities within can reach out and interact with the worlds it is connected to. (Bellum creating the Ghost Ship and it showing up in Link's Great Sea)

I just feel like they operate too differently and the things and entities surrounding them are too separate and too different for them to just be. Alternate versions of each other.

There also isn't much evidence to suggest that an entity could work differently than an alternate version of itself, and it really just doesn't make a whole lot of sense anyways, since Oshus and the Wind Fish are generally pretty separate from the main Hyrule, so whatever goes down there won't really impact them a whole lot.

Also I think that whatever goddess creates the minor deities within and related to Hyrule just really likes having whales as protectors of small worlds.

So I've been seeing A Viewpoint within the bg3 fandom occuring. And I gotta be honest. I disagree that the characters being bisexual in Baldur's Gate 3 means you cannot headcanon them as other sexualities for your own fandom content purposes. I think that's not reflective of how queer people and their sexual identities actually work, and its just antithetical to how fandom has always functioned, which is an exercise of imagination. I wanna clarify up front: I agree that someone saying that a character Can't or Shouldn't or Was Not Meant To Be bisexual because of whatever reason IS biphobic sentiment. The characters in Baldur's Gate 3 are canonically bi/pan, thats made pretty damn clear when you look through all their content. That's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about headcanons, au's; the kind of imaginitve play that is very much what fandom creativity is about. If you set a standard in fandom that depicting a character as a certain sexuality is Not Allowed, 1. you're kinda flattening sexuality in a weird way, like personally my sexuality is complicated as fuck and has changed over time, and 2. you're limiting creativity. And I think creativity in fandom is extremely important. It's the whole fun of fandom. Creativity is worth protecting and its worth establishing the nuance between Depicting A Version of Character who is X and Insisting That Character Should Be X in canon. Because like... we meddle with character's identities in fandom all the time. That's what headcanons ARE, they change appearance, social position, career, faith, species, traumatic experience, moral and political alignment, and SO much more. I think limiting what people can headcanon within fandom... is less fun! It's just less fun. Imaginative scope lets you do more, weird fun stuff. It lets you depict more complex interesting characters. Example: my Bad Nun AU. In that, Shadowheart identifies as a lesbian. Why is that? Because I wanted Shadowheart's experience within Bad Nun to specifically explore the history and context of lesbians within nunneries, especially how that manifested post Vatican II. These were also eras when 'lesbian' was more ubiquitos, had a different context and more flexibility; a lot of women that would probably consider themselves 'bisexual' now were identifying as lesbians, were in lesbian communities and events and spaces.

On that note: Flattening sexuality. You're gonna say people CANNOT depict these characters as ANYTHING but bisexual? That is not how most queer people's sexualities work. It simply isn't. I've identified as tons of different shit in my sexuality. I'm still not sure about it. For me half the time my "sexual identity" is just the words I use to communicate what I'm looking for, and that changes depends on What I Want at that time, what I'm looking to explore, my social context, ect. ect. like what. This isn't how sexuality works for real people. How are artists meant to be Creative and imaginatively depict real, complex, queer sexuality if they are restricted to depicting only what is within canon?? This is not how any other part of fandom works. Fandom art should work how all art works. If someone makes shit art, it gets dunked on and ignored for being bad or lazy or lame. If someone did Heterosexual Karlach fanfic, I would be like "what the fuck why" because they made Karlach less fucking cool. Het Karlach would be boring and thats More Egregious because they DECIDED to make her heterosexual DESPITE canon. But even then, EVEN THEN, I don't think that should be looked at as off limits shit, because I don't believe art should have many things off limits. Any limits must be very nuanced, because art and creativity is nuanced. Obviously my brain would go "het karlach? you deserve jail time and thats queerphobic", but I honestly believe creative license is more important than those feelings. I WOULD happily comment on their thing, "heterosexual karlach is boring, thats a shit idea" because I'm right

If you want good art and good writing, you need to protext creative license.

ik its not ur usual positivity but THANK YOU so much for that post!!! I feel like "gifted kid burnout" really dominates the conversation and thats only one experience of many.

I was diagnosed with adhd in elementary school and was basically like. "the kid with problems" "lost cause" my entire life. one of my teachers even directly told my mom she should be ashamed of me lol. any successes were like-- "see what you just did? imagine how much more you would be capable of if you didn't have adhd." to the point where I don't even feel any sense of accomplishment for graduating college. it's just one more "failure" i avoided in other peoples eyes. (i dont personally think not graduating college is a failure at all btw, that is just Society's Message™)

this part is kinda tangential but from what i've seen a lot (ofc not all) of gifted kid burnout posts are like, if only i would have been diagnosed earlier all of this could be avoided. and maybe that's true - I understand where it's coming from at least, the frustration of feeling that something is wrong but not knowing what or having that "proof" that you're not just "lazy" etc. im not saying this isn't a valid wish or frustration but in my experience... hoooo boy.

personally being diagnosed with ADHD in the early 2000s, didn't meant you got support, it meant you were written off from the start, adults thought you had no future, you were seen as a "problem child" like it wasn't "oh you're not lazy you just have adhd!" it was "you have ADHD so you are built to be lazy and theres nothing you can do about it lol" so it didn't solve much. just created a different type of problem. im very happy to see things look to be changing though!!

I'm curious if other people had a similar experience and thank you so much for adding the 'diagnosed but not supported' part bc that is so real!!!

My experience with diagnosis and lack of support was strange, but basically my primary (ages 4-11) school (I believe) suspected I had adhd/dyslexia and did offer some (very limited) support. But they also always told my parents they didn't think I had a learning difficulty when they asked because I was in extra programmes. I don't really think the support they did give me really helped all that much, and honestly, when I did get my diagnosis (around 12/13?) I'd spent so long thinking there was just something "wrong" with me that I feel like the lack of diagnosis was a lot more negatively impactful than not receiving support would've been.

My secondary school then managed to flip this and despite me getting my diagnosis part way through, nothing really changed either. Being told I had ADHD/Dyslexia changed me and my understanding of myself. I finally felt like things made sense and there was a reason i found things so difficult, it wasn't that there was something "wrong" with me but the system was not built for me. Although my diagnosis was early compared to some people, it felt late to me, and everything that can happen when you're undiagnosed had already set in.

I wished I'd been diagnosed earlier but honestly, I had a similar experience to you, and I don't think it would've done much. And even when I was finally diagnosed, my school also never really acknowledged my diagnosis and wouldn't put any of the accommodations that I needed in place (despite my diagnosis coming with a report which explained everything they should've been doing to support me and how they could've done it) I didn't get any accommodations for my neurodiversity until I was in uni, and I got my diagnosis in 2015 so at least for me, my experience wasn't that different to yours in the early 2000s.

When I tried to fight for the accommodations I should've been given, I was told that I would pass my exams, and so it didn't really matter, they didn't believe going through the hassle of giving me accommodations would help me (although the diagnosis report itself said otherwise.) I always felt similarly to you, I could scrape by but "imagine how much better you'd do without dyslexia/adhd" but I also had this weird "well because you're "gifted" you can get average grades, you don't need support!" message as well?

And yeah, just like you, I didn't really feel as accomplished as I should've done when I finished uni. I'm proud of myself for doing it but I do feel this weird pressure of knowing that if I didn't have adhd/dyslexia or managed it better, I would've done much better.

I apologise for rambling about myself but yeah thank you for this ask! I feel the same way, and I'm glad to hear I'm not alone in it as well.

Time for propaganda!

Ok so. I love FE 8. Not for the plot (its good though). Not for the gameplay or any mechanics. I love it for these two.

Franz and Forde. Best siblings in FE history. You cannot change my mind. I have so many feelings about them.

Why do I love them so much you may ask? They are SO wholesome. Forde raised his younger brother after their parents both died when Franz was still very young. He was devastated because he loved his parents. He was still a child/ teen and had all of these new responsibilities. He probably didn't even know what to do. But he figured it out. For his brother. So that he will have a happy childhood. There is nothing more important to Forde than Franz.

And like they know each other better than anyone else. Everyone describes Forde as lazy and carefree. When he isnt. He is canonically a great fighter (even though this does not translate well in the game xD) but he is sleeping or painting on the battlefield. As you do. And no one gets why. It's stupid. It's dangerous. He has no reason to do so. Wrong. He isn't in danger when sleeping because he has a modified saddle so he won't fall off. And he is painting to study the terrain. Bro is smarter than anyone gives him credit for. And apparently Franz is the only one who knows this/ figured it out. Because Forde doesn't take any credit for it. He wants everyone to think he is useless, carefree and clumsy. To make them laugh and lighten up the mood during a war. He doesn't want others to be sad because he knows how horrible it is. And he has always been like that. When their dad was gone because of some missions or whatever and Franz was sad about it he tried to cheer him with his drawings.

What about Franz though you may wonder? He is SUCH a cute little bean. He wants to be a great knight like his brother and Seth. He is better than them gameplay wise. At least by far better than Forde and at least on par with Seth. He is helping everywhere he can. In every last support of his he just so *vague hand gestures* so adorable. Not a single mean cell in this boy's body. He literally recruited Amelia who was fighting for the enemy because he thought she somehow got caught in the battle and wanted to help her get to safety. (Kinda funny conversation btw) And then in their supports proceeds to teach her how to actually fight. They also have a paired ending togetehr. Puppy love at its finest.

ANYWAY I love Franz and Forde so much you can't even imagine. Faerghast made a half an hour long video about Forde btw. Like he such a well written (but sadly irrelevant and growth wise pretty much useless) character.

This was such a delight to read. I can really tell how much you like these characters and it's lovely.

While I haven't played the game these two are from, reading about them has made me genuinely rather interested. It sucks that Forde may not be the best unit wise, which I imagine must limit chances to use him in battle, I'm glad his supports and the like seem to be quite good.

Will definitely have a look at Franz and Amelia's paired ending, it sounds incredibly cute. I'll also try and have a look at the video you linked, it sounds interesting and will allow me to learn more about Forde. They absolutely sound like incredible characters!!

I wonder if the ccs even realize that.

The dsmp has become so much bigger than themselves.

Like it’s one of the reasons so many of them even have the viewership they have now. Does MichaelMcChill think that ppl like Tommy or Wilbur started off with 30k views? No!!! They had to build up that viewership over time, and they did that bc they both logged on enough and Did stuff. Even if it wasn’t some major lore event, they still did things in character that actually counted. There’s a lot of little things in s1/s2 that you wouldn’t think of right away but eventually mattered later.

I get the frustration with not feeling like your character matters, but there are way bigger issues at play than just “No one likes my lore.”

The ccs need to communicate, and rebooting the server isn’t communicating, at least not entirely. It’s taking the easy way out. It’s the band aid solution.

Ppl like the dsmp bc of its history, the glory of the L’manburg days, the intensity of Manburg, the lights and facade of Las Nevadas, the things these characters actually go through. What they like, dislike, who their enemies are. I mean fuck we like to pretend that Manburg was so fucking scary (and I mean it kinda was) but at the time, characters were mostly fucking around! There was humor (at least a little) in the ways in which c!lmantrio bullshitted and lied to c!Schlatt (and it somehow working.)

All these ccs can just casually hang out w each other on literally any server. It’s fucking minecraft, there are not that many limits. Origins kinda was for that purpose but it died bc no one logged on. Hell, the extended update world in the dsmp could’ve also been that, but again, no one fucking logged on.

The “everyone just kinda wants to casually hang out on the server but not have to think about lore” is a lazy excuse bc you all can do that literally anywhere else and just don’t. Not all these ccs main minecraft content anymore, a lot of them just do other things with minecraft sprinkled in. And that’s fine! I’m not here to dictate what their content should be.

But. The dsmp still exists and has two years worth of history attached to it, and at this point in the story what the fandom really wants is just closure, for all this fucking time we’ve poured into it. All the fanart, fanfics, music, etc. People actually care still.

Rebooting the server doesn’t feel like a release, it feels like a Fuck You to the fandom.

You might ask yourself, Aku...what is a Warframe...and the only thing I am going to say to that is a biomechanic warriors with awesome power.

Hi, if you're a Warframe fan with no idea who or what the Bat Family is...I'll sum that up as the Batman Family, aka all the kids and heroes he decided were "his". Anyways, this obviously isn't all of them but these are the ones I care about. I'm too lazy to do anything more than the bare minimum rn

Au below the cut: CAUTION, IF YOU HAVE NOT PLAYED THE WAR WITHIN THIS WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS!!!

Also...im not following the no-killing rule with this AU as it is impossible for it, as someone needs to control Grineer population.

Bruce Wayne/Batman:

Ash Prime - the most assassin stealth-based Warframe literally has a batman skin -like no one can look me in the eye and say this isn't Batman

Excalibur Prime - a limited edition Prime Warframe, no long available to buy and or make

Hildryn - Honestly, big buff lady who is a tank-support

Protea - utility support with massive firepower

Vauban Prime - similar to Protea but way more defensive-based rather than support fits Bruce pretty well when it comes to taking out crowds

Rhino Prime -Tankiest boy, a proud beast

Harrow Prime -this one cracks me up. Harrow is a Warframe that casts its abilities by flogging itself and its whole back story is about carrying the weight of the world on its shoulders to hold back a force of evil and punishing itself...literally Bruce

Excalibur Umbra - I'm gonna expand on this a little and if you have not played the Sacrifice please ignore this or if you don't care...keep reading I guess. - Umbra kills his own child when he becomes fully infested, he is one of the few Warframes that have recorded sentience. -I think its fitting for Bruce.

Why does Bruce have mostly all primes you may be asking yourself, and to be clear you know exactly why motherfucker. Because he's fuckin' Bruce Wayne. I don't think I need a better reason other than he is (A) Bruce Wayne (B) Batman.

Dick Grayson/Nightwing:

Zephyr Prime - b-bird...it flies, its a bird because h-hes robin - also her idle animations have MASSIVE Dickergy

Baruuk - I know hes a "pacifist" but blah blah blah I don't care, he is scary when he loses his "restraint" and so is Dick

Titania - I...I don't actually have a reason for this, I just find it fitting

Excalibur - a classic, basic, but matches Bruce in being one of the OGs - he's a true classic and an OG but incredibly powerful nonetheless, fan fav, poster boy, you get it.

Nezha - fruity ass Nezha, jumpy, always moving, kinda like Dick

Wukong - hehehhe monke...he just has that playful energy in his abilities like Dick. Oh, and the cloud. LOVES the cloud and the twin he can summon.

Mirage - the same thing with Wukong, it plays with Dick's teasing fun nature. I think he would take advantage of her duplicates when in comes to fights, seeing as how Dick has a tendency to be fuckin' stupid and not call in for help so having holograms that can pack some damage and copy your moves seems like something he needs Dick started with Zephyr, enjoying the fact that he could shoot across the sky with her. He's not a fan of running like Volt or Gauss, he enjoys being in the air like he can be with Zephyr, Wukong, and Titania. I think he regrets having Zephyr as the Prime Bruce gives him.

Jason Todd/Red Hood:

Mesa Prime - she is literally a gunslinger, she gets a buff if she goes into missed with no melee weapon equipped. What more could Jason want in a Warframe?

Rhino - tanky, built like a fridge, like Jason

Styanax - based on hoplite soldiers, a warrior, fitting.

Sevagoth - a Warframe split in two from death, "Return eternally from beyond the grave, as his Shadow eclipses the light while harvesting wicked souls to sate his esurient darkness." Again, fitting

Nidus - fucked up a bastardization of Warframes, its insides look like its outside, unlike many other Warframes. Idk, again, felt fitting

Atlas - idk, bicc, tanky, no real deep reason. Probably just enjoys the backup he can summon

Banshee - thinking about this from an All-Caste standpoint, Banshee's utility wise is incredibly strong for assassinations as she can cancel out all noise and track enemies easily.

Revenant -rose from the dead - "This is Revenant, the returned - the condemned. Harnessing the essence of Eidolon and warrior alike, he mystifies and obliterates his foes. Revenant serves last rites for the souls he leaves on fire, without a plea for mercy."

again...fitting

Valkyr

angry, sacrificed herself and experimented on. Could compare to the Lazarus pit and Jason

Jason's original Warframe that Bruce gifted him was Ash. It was destroyed in the explosion that killed him. He can't get himself to rebuild an Ash. Also, yes...I know Jason's have deep meanings, but....eeuugghhhhh he's my FAVORITE DON'T JUDGE MEEEE

Tim Drake/Red Robin/Robin:

Loki Prime - Trickster, fast, stealthy, can create a hologram that can attack, it fits

Protea -utility wise, she is techy and an engineer, a lot like Tim, a protector

Gyre - mmm...idk, I know shocking people is Dick's thing but Gyre really has more Tim energy to her with the whole Tesla coil aesthetic

Mag - mmmagnet...can yank, pull, and crush, versatile

Lavos - elemental, mixes and experiments with the elements to make subcategories, incredibly smart, and runs on timers vs energy -felt fitting

Banshee - much like Jason's reason, cancels out noise and makes him far stealthier, probably not Tim's most used Warframe

Volt - I...I'm not sure why Tim is getting the electricity frames. - Shield, fast, shock shit, OG, really useful, and boosts teammate's speed.

Limbo - can leap into the void to avoid damage and can drag enemies in with him, only people in the void can attack and damage him and the same goes for the enemies. - Don't really know again, it felt like a Warframe Tim would experiment with to try and push its limits.

Wukong - my friend who played Warframe just a little bit requested I give Tim Wukong because he was the one Warframe they really enjoyed playing - oh and staff. They both have a bo staff

Damian Al-Ghul Wayne/Robin:

Ash Prime - just like his daddy, need I say more?

Inaros - old, mummy themes, makes me think of a Ra's hand-me-down, good at keeping you alive.

Valkyr - used to teach Damian control over his emotions, I HC that Valkyr's final ability hysteria is kinda intoxicating as it induces a blood-lust-like state.

Garuda - beauty in slaughter teaches grace in combat. She is brutal and effective, self-mutilates to refill her energy, then siphons blood from enemies to heal herself. - Probably teaches more about regulation vs grace...

Nekros - bringer of death, not too much of a damage dealer, but he's able to raise the dead with his 4th ability and that seems like something Damian would like - mini army for him to rule

Now...everyone further down on this list I am way less familiar with and have fewer Warframes because of that. They will also have less meaningful reasons behind why and for that I'm kinda half sorry.

Duke Thomas/Signal:

Equinox Prime - Equinox splits into Day and Night form - I think you see where I'm going with this. - Equinox's abilities complement each other, one supports the other harms and debuffs. - it's the nearest I could get to controlling light and shadow okay

Nova - portals, gravity, idk tbh, she just felt like a frame he would enjoy with the massive amounts of damage and crowd control

Chroma - elemental breath, again, the closest I could get to shadow and light - Chroma is a tankier Warframe, probably one of the few Duke uses when he's running without his family and clan.

Stephenie Brown/Spoiler:

Mirage Prime - Playful, fun, dangerous, a trickster, feels like a good Prime for Steph

Octavia - Steph seems like someone who likes to dance, and who doesn't love blasting music while you mow down hordes of infested or battalions of Grineer :D?

Yareli - I don't...really know how to explain this one for it to not sound derogatory? Yareli's design is super...cute and e-girl-ish? - She's not particularly powerful but she has some mean CC and looks good while drowning you so-

Titania - all of Steph's seem to be tricksters omg - yeah Titania is good for buffing and rebuffing, her 4 shrinks her and gives her massive boosts in speed as she flies around and tears people apart with razor blade butterflies

Cassandra Cain/Black Bat/Orphan:

Banshee Prime - as said before...Banshee is a frame who silences everything around her, stealthy and deadly

Ivara - the hunter warframe, can become invisible and create lines to run around on, seems like something Cass would definitely enjoy and use to destroy everyone in her way

Wisp - not...really sure why I picked Cass to have a Wisp, but she floats instead of walking and opens a portal to channel a literal laser beam of the sun at her enemies. This is not a joke.

Nekros - reaper of the dead, deadly, terrifying, C A S S

Kate Kane/Batwoman:

Sayrn Prime - deadly, powerful, stupid strong, litter the ground with bodies with her kit. Something I think Kate would appreciate

Mesa - G U N. Thats it. I don't really have a better reason or explanation, sorry

Gara - defensive, powerful, sacrificed herself to save the Ostrons from the Eidolon, a hero - I can see Kate in that kinda

Ember - I was gonna make a red-head joke because fire and..and its not that funny. Honestly, no real good reason for Ember either

Vauban - strong, tanky, defensive tech-based kit, no deeper reasons

Barbara Gordon/Oracle/Batgirl:

Nyx Prime - focus on the power of the mind, manipulates and confuses enemies before exploding a mass of psychic energy. Fits with Babs big brain

Lavos - sc ience, that's it.

Protea - defensive support, is powerful, can reverse time, something I think Babs would over-utilize which makes what happens to her...ironic and interesting

Limbo - a lot like Tim's reason, intrigue in pushing Limbo's limit and seeing what she could accomplish with his powers

But like, are we sure sure it’s Luca who helped Jindosh?

I keep thinking it’d be more logical if it were Theodanis, but my brain is, again, having some doubts about it.

Let’s start from the beginning, shall we. Lots of lore and Jindosh to be expected, and spoilers.

He’s 40-45, and my lazy ass wants to think he’s going to be 42 yo in DH2, so it’s easier for the dates. He’d be born in 1810, in good ol’ Karnaca. He had a more or less difficult life there, between the hate of his mother and, I hope, the brother he still had a somehow good relationship with (I just don’t think he’s using ‘bastard’ as an insult there?). He arrived at the Academy at 16 maybe (again, just my lil’ preference there, cuz I like to over analyze things and all we have is, at some point when he was 16, he was studying there, could be 14/15/16, 15/16/17, or 16/17/18). Anyway. Got banned two years later. We’re now in 1828.

DH1 events happen in 1837.

Then, all we have before DH2 is from the book The Return of Daud (I mean, yes, The Corroded Man too but it doesn’t interest me in the slightest there). 2nd interlude, it’s 1841, and Stilton and Sokolov are having an exhibit in the Royal Conservatory. Jindosh’s here too, and Stilton thinks he recognizes him. Also, as a small note, I think by the time Breanna is already at the head of the conservatory.

(Furthermore, you can see silvergraphs of the coup crew in the Clockwork Mansion, and the one of Breanna is dated 1846!)

And next, another important year is 1847, Theodanis died, and Luca became the new Duke of Serkonos. It took 6 years to build the Royal Conservatory, and less than 5 years for the Grand Palace (between 1847 and 1852 obviously, and this makes me think it’s probably the main reason the ritual has been done in Stilton’s mansion: Addermire? Certainly not. The conservatory? Just why? At Jindosh’s? hell no, geez. Couldn’t do it at Luca’s maybe? And because of Stilton and Theodanis’ relationship as well, welp). Anyway!

So yeah, I don’t think building the Clockwork Mansion took more years than the conservatory, but it probably took more than the Grand Palace. Fun fact, did you know there was an observatory there?

Heck yeah. An old observatory, abandoned. But question is, how could people go there? I’ve tried to analyze the road to the mansion too, and boy it’s kinda weird – stylish as a lvl design, but lore wises I’m not sure about what I’m seeing. Is the railway relatively new, or old? Maybe the observatory got abandoned because the path has been destroyed, ‘d be fair enough.

Now.

The Clockwork Mansion, you just can’t tell me it has been easy to build. I wouldn’t believe you. First, it’s stupidly complex with the shifting walls. Second, its darn location: ON A CLIFF. With a destroyed path OR the railway. Third, I think it’d be expensive as hell too. And you’re telling me Jindosh also built many things, and the clockwork sentinels/soldiers, and the riddle, and the Oraculum, in 5 years? I don’t care how many nights you don’t sleep that’s too crazy. Or maybe, he already had his mansion?

That leads me to another point.

Can we talk about the assessment chamber really quick? It looks so… odd? I mean, all the mansion is heavily fancy but this part. But that’s probably because it’s not as much “important” but if visitors come by to see the soldiers in action? It looks like the most recent part of the mansion, the mountain being dug to add just a room to “test the limits of the clockwork soldiers”. Soo, again, maybe he had already finished to build his mansion and just added this recently?

BUT, as I said, it probably was expensive as shit. Do you think he had the money to do it by himself (like some lily-livered little rich boy (oops ofmd ref), like, he grew in a wealthy family somehow, or by already selling some inventions) or received some help, let’s say, from the Duke? And as Stilton has the feeling he knows him in 1841, maybe, you know… Theodanis helped him… Moreover, if you were the Duke of a pecking country, don’t you think you’d have heard anyway about a crazy inventor building a crazy house on the cliff, visible by anyone?

(Last very small note, the gift to the Tyvian NOBLE girl, before or after Theodanis’ passed you think?)

So I don’t know, I still prefer to think it was Theodanis. I don’t remember anything clearly said in the games or the wiki about this.

12:38am: well, talk about gratuitous grace… I'm doing it again, half a week later - twelve r30s this time, I'm being "moderate" cause I'm not going for a new record dose, just another demi-god trip, where I will probably feel like god again, but a lonely god still rubbing up against His own Grain, the infinite cosmos of limitations based on this little personality I am most of the time, like those weaponized changeling virii that cut off their hand to morph into sentient goo that projects itself as an angry voice that wants, that controls, that demands.

well, well, well well well well well well, there's 5 wells in this instance going back to the well well there's an eleven angstrom shell of heaven between the living void and hell well, look what we have here i guess i'm really trying to re-live the glory days, and yet have high high hopes for making something new as well… dosed about 12:35 - the idea was, don't worry about it so damn much, how bout a spontaneous trip with good vibes, a gratuitous grace, at a point where no reasonable algorithm would dare think i would even consider doing this on this date, considering past behavior - or maybe the cleverest algo behind the clever one would

So, I’ll go with my ”Was Born To Lead” babies plus Fausto, and what comes to the Lachian ones, we can discuss it later together :3

Fausto.

Fausto is a violinist, so most of his time he dedicates to playing violin and composing his own melodies (and sharing them with his family and friends!). He’s also into sailing and exploring, so he spends lots of his time outside, looking around and learning something new. When he just wants to spend time alone, he loves the horse walks, somewhere in nature.

And also, even though Fausto is a musician, he’s not a good singer or dancer. He’s a composer and player.

Ángel.

When Ángel was very little, he didn’t really have any hobbies, maybe excluding cooking, because this is one of the things his father always loved, so it was the way for them to spend more time together. However, the older he’s getting, the more he’s like a Jack-of-all-trades, because he just wants to learn doing different things.

Anyway, his hobbies for now are cooking, fencing, crochet, and acting (he’s not an actual actor, but whenever he gets to read out loud in the classroom, he’s hooked. Plus, he loves puppet shows :3). Ángel is also a very sociable person, so he loves spending time with his friends (I’m sure Gabe and Frida are not his only ones, but at this point, I’m just too lazy to create new characters who aren’t related to Gabe :’) Although he will have a big group of friends, sharing the same passion with him, but shhh it’s a spoiler) and family (especially his father, because, really, they love each other too much) doing literally anything, even just talking, because Ángel always has a lot to tell <3

And Ángel has a dog, so a big part of his day is spent in playing and jogging with Nube :3

Frida.

Okay, I swear drawing is not Frida’s only hobby. She also loves designing, which doesn’t apply to fashion design only, but also to an interior, because Frida has a good sense of aesthetics and wants everything around her look pretty, which she does. So, crafting, drawing, painting - this all goes for her. Plus, I kinda want her to love plants, so maybe she also like floristics, but I’m not sure how to include it yet x)

Anyway, she doesn’t spend all of her time home, so visiting galleries and exhibitions is also what she enjoys <3

And also microbiology! She doesn’t do it anymore, but I think of continuing it, so I just need to think how :’)

Valerio.

He’s a history man, sooo x) Anyway, to be serious, history is actually something he enjoys in all of its aspects, maybe excluding military, because it just never was interesting to him. Sure, he’s well versed in this topic, but this is not something he wants to study deeper.

I don’t know if it even may be considered as a hobby, but studying the archival records, which allows him to know history beyond the limited school program (plus, he actually traveled a lot, which allowed him to study the foreign materials as well and, you know, it made him think, but no spoilers) is definitely something he does to spend his time. And he also enjoys visiting history museums, because for him history never was just a boring subject with the countless dates to remember, he loves artifacts and is fascinated by them <3

Also, not mentioned in the fic yet, but Valerio is a painter! He always preferred painting to drawing and loves making paintings for his friends <3 (he had much more friends when he was younger, but now the only person he’s actually friends with is Matías (sure, he still interacts with the people from the museum where he used to work, but he’s not close close with them; plus, there actually one more person Valerio knew from his young age and still interacts with, but you’ll see her later~), because he’s wary of getting too close to anyone for his personal obvious reasons)

Although he actually enjoys corporate parties in his school and never misses an opportunity to visit them, because outgoing is literally the core trait of him and he always loved people, even though he’s much more secretive now.

And he’s also a chess player! He doesn’t really have anyone to play with now, but when he was younger, nobody could escape from him rambling about it (anyway, an important thing about Valerio is that he enjoys studying theoretical material of everything he’s interested in and digging deep into it to understand how it works. He’s a huge thinker and is sure that everything has a meaning behind itself. Anyway, this is what I want him to be, maybe it’s not noticeable in the fic lmao)

When he was younger, he also loved sailing and basically everything related to the sea. Plus, Matías tried to get him into horse riding, but it turned out not to be Valerio’s thing :’) And he also had a shared passion with Leticia, his wife, which is basically the reason why he leaves Avalor City every year in January, and he still knows a lot about it, but he can’t enjoy it anymore.

Matías.

When he’s free from his work, Matías volunteers at the orphanage where he actually spends the majority of his free time. At first, he was providing medical support, since his knowledge and skills are more than more for healing humans as well. But eventually, he was visiting it more and more often, because he’s an orphan himself, although he’s not sentimental, so he’ll never admit that it was one of the reasons for his volunteering.

Anyway, when he gets some time for himself, he loves cooking and pottery, plus he was into horse riding when he was younger, because he always loved horses.

Emilio and Verónica.

Alright, I’ll combine them, because I ended up giving them too many shared hobbies x) (plus, they’re married, so forgive me)

First of all, they both are writers and they kinda complement each other. Emilio is a writer-writer. He has a very rich and figurative speech when it comes to writing and knows how to work with words, which makes it natural to him. Meanwhile, Verónica is more creative with ideas and is generally more organized and uplifting, so whenever Emilio doesn’t feel up for writing, she’s always here to encourage him :3

Verónica is more physically active, and one of her hobbies was rock climbing. She was very passionate about it, which made Emilio love it, too, and together they used to spend a lot of their time in the mountains. However, Verónica can’t do it anymore because of her illness, and they both stopped doing it eventually.

And they’re parents, so they’re always here for their boys :3

Ok I read your latest response and I can't write a super long response now cause I'm in the car (expect one in maybe 5-6 hours) but I just wanna say, the Volker becomes a dragon joke caught me really off guard.

When I say he becomes a god, I mean he kills 2 gods (the god of the people and the god of intelligence and wisdom) and absorbs their powers :3 he adopts some physical features like glowing eyes, being physically larger, physical strength and so on but he certainly does not become a dragon, it'd be silly though lol

I also feel like intsys would not be able to do dear emperor justice cause their games are a little more anime-ish and silly, but square enix could absolutely do it :3

So not a dragon but some... JRPG Last Boss kinda thing?!

Eh, just make "dragon" a frame of mind, and voila! I mean, Fire Emblem has not been about a symbol of fire or something since I don't know when anyway. It's whatever the hell their imagination can push by this point!

Not all Fire Emblem was silly (anime, though? Yea. Kinda!), methinks. I mean, there is FE4. And while anime, I hardly think FE13 was silly either. The one with Ike was pretty serious too, I think? Fire Emblem is kinda just... two-headed this way. It's a conjoined twin dragon with one ridiculous head and one serious-storytelling head. We just never seem to know which head is taking control for the next game.

Though I agree that Square Enix will be a much safer guarantee, I actually want Int Sys to do it because,

I simply love Fire Emblem's mechanisms and gameplay. Triangle Strategy was fun, but the gameplay was fucking frustrating for a lot of parts (I have migraine every night when I spent hours on one single chapter. Yea it's because I suck at my hobby—nothing new there). Getting more range when you're at a height but at decreased accuracy as an archer is hella good though.

I love Fire Emblem and want it to become a storytelling powerhouse on the side. I don't want it to be stupid and/or ridiculous the likes of Fire Emblem Engage and Fire Emblem Heroes (there, I said it) and Fire Emblem Fates. At least, I don't want it to be ridiculous for the majority of its titles, haha!

The reason why I want Fire Emblem to adapt a story like Dear Emperor is because I don't think "anime" is the reason why it can't be serious. Anime is just its art style or art direction or even, if they wanna, its presentation. But it's not a story limiter by any means.

When it's being "ridiculous," Fire Emblem has a lazy story problem, methinks. It relies on tropes; it's this factory churning out pre-made 2D waifus and husbandos, and then customizing it a bit for the latest theme.

Since I think what FE lacks is a good story, and what you have right there is a gripping, intriguing story befitting a medieval setting... This, to me, is just giving the right socket adapter for a phone at 1% belonging to a traveler stranded in a foreign country. It's the thing that traveler needs the most to do all the other things they want to do.

dissapointed they didn't go god mode with him, and let him go through all that shit int he first place.

Yeah, their continued refusal to categorize Darwin and Synch as omegas is glaring and not cute. Like, bullshit is bullshit. But I do agree that at least Armando's glow-up seems particularly plot relevant....can't help but think his dataform is going to be key to defeating Nimrod, Karima and/or the Phalanx.

I have no strong feelings about Synchverine as a pairing, though I kinda hate it just on the basis of the shit being flung at Ev by racist Laura stans....its like umm you guys are fine shipping her with HELLION but Everett Thomas, you object to? Okay, that's a Choice, alright. (And I say that as someone who LIKES Julian, lmfao, but like. Let's be fucking real here, can we?)

Personally I've always shipped Ev with Monet and I'm always gonna be annoyed the two of them haven't gotten a single scene together since his resurrection, but oh well. And idk if you're familiar with her, but given Ev's age because of the Vault, alternatively if older Laura doesn't stick around (we know this X-office isn't a fan of duplicates so part of my wariness about this ship is I feel like its headed for Angstville in a way that won't do either character any favors), I would loooooove for them to bring back Gaia. She was a reality warping mutant from Gen-X that had a will they/won't they pseudo relationship with Ev back in the day....

Ironically, the reason they never got together was because Gaia left to travel the world because due to comic book typical Shenanigans, she was several centuries old and yet had barely any life experience....and hmmm, who is now also several centuries old and yet limited to a very narrow parameter of life experiences? I'm just saying. HERE'S HOW GAIA/EVERETT CAN STILL WIN!!!

But yeah, I'm kinda tired of the whole Vault thing because it continues to be just a wasted opportunity that they seem to have no interest in using to its fullest narrative potential and just keep coming back to anyway, and its not exactly making any characters look good. Was not a fan of Forge's storyline here, though at least he didn't go full Hank McCoy with Caliban and pulled back before he crossed too many moral thresholds there. I did like Caliban's dynamic with Serafina though, and I'm a big fan of Forge's vision for a future Krakoa.....like.....one of the weakest aspects of Krakoa as a paradigm has been the lazy efforts at nation-building, there's no real infrastructure to it, and I'm not really talking physical infrastructure so much as social, but making Krakoa look more along the lines of what Forge is picturing could go a long way towards breaking writers out of the rut they seem to be in with seeing it as fully formed as-is, when its like.....really, really, not.

But also I just love Cassara's art and worldbuilding so I'm just kinda like....any chance for him to do backgrounds is a Yes Please from me. I think he and Reis have done the best renditions of Krakoa to date, and with Caselli coming over from X-Men Red to do the tie-in Brood storyline issues when the book crosses over with Captain Marvel in a couple months, I would looooooove it if Cassara goes over to X-Men Red for a couple issues too. I wanna see his take on Arakko.

Anyway - the BS with Darwin and Synch remains my biggest pet peeve, tbh. The omega list is waaaaay too white, and there are so many options for omega characters of color. The two of them, Laura Dean aka Pathway from Alpha Flight, Willie Evans Jr., Joseph Calhoun, etc, etc. And with several Great Ring seats up for grabs on Arakko, they're introducing more omegas there, which is good because I don't think there should be any more Krakoans on the Great Ring, Ororo and Roberto are enough as is. But one of the new Arakkii omegas is the old white guy with a beard from the Sins of Sinister promo, his name is Jon Ironfire I think and that's just his design from Year 1000, when we meet him in the present X-Men Red he'll of course be much younger. Still, the point is, they keep making new white omega mutants when......seriously. There are so many characters of color they could be upgrading instead.

Thoughts on netherite

So, I think 1.16 was an amazing update. One of the best updates, I love exploring the nether nowadays, especially in comparison to how terrible it was before I realize there was crunch involved in the update, and this isn't calling the update lazy But I do have many thoughts on netherite, and what I envisioned its purpose to be Perhaps no devs did state this and I'm going insane... but I could've sworn the main concept was to make exploring the nether a bit less unappealing by providing a way to make your precious gear immune to burning, which is... something that happens a lot in the nether! they even float to the top of the lava and everything. This doesn't solve the larger items despawning problem, but I think being able to make your gear immune to lava... is great! More things to reward exploring the nether, those rewards helping you more comfortably explore the nether without fear of your diamond gear burning. I think netherite being an upgrade is also good!

Where I disagree with the implementation is it being better than diamond in any way other than durability... which is also its own can of worms I personally would nerf netherite to be almost no stat changes, merely makes the item have more durability and become immune to lava. To compensate for this, I'd say an ingot should only be 1 or 2 debris... and it should be able to be applied to any item. Well, minus shulker boxes aha. Most gear, anyways. I want to make my bow immune to burning! Now, a lot of people meme about how "enderite" would be uncreative and such a lame thing to go for, but what if it was an upgrade to make your items... immune to falling in the void? An incredibly dangerous to get upgrade, but one that helps you keep your gear with you even in the event of absolute void-death. Problems arise though when you try to figure out what the best stance on "should players have infinite gear in the first place?" Like, the whole reason we have "Too Expensive!" and repair limits... is to limit god tools and limit having a tool forever. Except villagers and mending kinda uh, go against that. Nowadays people WANT to keep the same tools forever. but why do they? its not THAT hard to go get some extra diamonds for your toolset, and it should be a scary investment to go for full on diamond armor! Well, its because of how annoying it is to get a brand new tool up to par and fully enchanted, in my opinion. I think the enchancement mod has an interesting basis on... just letting you choose, and only having a single enchantment per tool/armor piece Anyways, echo shards could totally also play a role in recovering your items safely, though them not being renewable may pose an issue. I'd like a bed... mobile thing but of echo shards. Echo chimes? That'd be fun... To recover some of your gear (that survived burning at least), even. And ofc I think the despawn timer is a big issue.

What do you do when there’s not much to an AU? You make up your own stuff, ofc. And as is per usual when I make Character Designs, I make up a shit ton of lore too.

The ramblings under the cut, but what I’m really interested in, is what you guys think. Do you guys have any headcanons/ideas for this AU? Let me hear them! Before I get into the characters’ roles, here’s some general facts and backstory of their town:

- Basically, it’s Undertale meets Harvest Moon / Stardew Valley. Well, kinda. I at least used that approach for coming up for the jobs for the characters. You know, how there’s always a general store, a doctor, a smithy, etc.

- The usual story of a HM game is that you come to a town that’s way past its glory days and you, as the player/farmer, help them get back to that. The “backstory” of the town is that that already kinda happened. I’ll get into it more in the character description, but basically when Asgore was still mayor, the town got really popular. Then yadda yadda, a certain tragedy happened, two kids died, and the town suddenly got very bad publicity. There was a lot of stuff going on back then, bad reputation being spread and also a lot of law stuff, cos, you know, supposed child murder ‘n all, so Asgore made the decision to shut off the town to ppl from outside. This was in the interest of most monsters living there, because as fun as it is to have a lot of people coming there, most just wanted to live a quiet life. Not everyone was happy with that though, so many moved away from town and some others are trying to get the town back on its feet. But more on that later.

On to the characters:

I’m just gonna start with the skelebros, cos it’s their fault in the first place I got so invested.

Basically, they are what the player is in hm/sdv. They just showed up one day, took over the abandoned farmhouse and began their life there. The two came to town way after it was “closed” and since then a new mayor has opened the possibility for new residents to move in. Their farm helps the economy of the town a lot and the mayor, like usually in hm games, is trying to use that to make the town more known again. The skelebros aren’t really working towards that goal however.

So, now a bit more detail on them individually.

Papyrus:

- The design is mostly based on what’s “canon” in this au.

- He works mostly on the fields and is in charge of the crops. Their fields aren’t spectacularly big, but still big enough to plant a few dozen rows of veggies.

- Paps also helps out a lot in town when he has the time. He helps Asgore with his plants, he goes fishing with Undyne, helps Toriel carry crates around and so on. This is inspired by the part-time job mechanic in HM ToT.

- Unbelievably, in this AU Pap is not an absolutely awful cook. Since he helps out at Muffet’s and Grillby’s a lot, they tend to show him some tricks to cooking. Even though Pap’s not a big fan of the greasy or overly sweet cooking those two do, he picks up a lot.

Sans:

- Again, design mostly based on the “canon” look. Maybe a bit more baggy.

- This is finally an AU this dude gets to rest. Since there are no resets and he doesn’t have to see his bro die again and again, for once in his life, he’s not a sad ball of depression. He’s just a chill and lazy dude that loves to make puns. Though, since he’s not too experienced with the feelings of loss, helplessness or grieving, he still tends to hide behind puns and fakes smiles if he does feel bad.

- Sans is in charge of the animals on the farm. Papyrus begrudgingly gave him that role since Pap’s loud demeanour and hectic movements usually scare the animals. Sans’ relaxed attitude draws the animals to him naturally and even if Pap mostly finds him sleep against a tree, in a stack of hay or on one of the sheep, the animals are always fed, healthy and relaxed, so Sans seems to be doing his job.

- Sans always has a small chic sit inside his hoodie or hat. Is it always the same one? Who knows, maybe.

- Sans also, somehow, can produce eggs out of thin air. Grab into his hoodie pocket, in his pants pocket, in his hat, in his slipper, there’s suddenly always an egg there. On good days he can even make butter or cheese appear.

Gaster:

- He’s literally just a scarecrow in this. Though, if you ask any of the bros why they designed their scarecrow that way, they won’t have an answer.

Frisk&Toriel:

- Frisk is mostly based on what I wore myself as a kid in summer. Just a loose shirt with a cappy. Toriel basically has her ut gown, just with an apron on top.

- Frisk just appeared outside the “magical” forest one day. Napstablook and his cousin found them and brought them to Toriel, who has been taking care of them since.

- Toriel runs the general store in town, but also often takes care of the few kids that still live there.

- Frisk usually helps out in Toriels store, plays with the other kids or sits around at Asgore’s. They’re notorious for nabbing small snacks, mostly from Asgore’s plants. You’ll always find them munching on something.

- Frisk was in town before the skelebros. Since they’d moved in, Frisk often went to spy on their farm. After a small incident with angry chicken, Frisk got to know the two better and now they see them as something between brothers and uncles.

- But Frisk honestly gets along with everyone. Just like in UT, they’ve not only been adopted by Toriel but literally everyone.

- Toriel and Asgore’s relationship is not as bad as in the main game, since, you know, Asgore didn’t kill literal children, but there’s still tension between them. Back when Asriel and Chara died and the whole thing with the bad rep for the town began, Toriel felt betrayed by Asgore focusing more on the town than giving their deceased kids the grieving they deserved. They’re not divorced, but Toriel still moved out and said needed space to think. Now that Frisk is in the picture though, the both of them are slowly coming to even ground and may even be able to talk things out and clear up the uncertainty of their decisions.

Asgore:

-Asgore has his UT Ending / Deltarune clothes, just with a gardener’s belt.

- He’s the previous mayor of the town, but after all the crap that happened, he stepped down from the position. Now he has his own little shop and sells seeds, saplings, homegrown veggies and fertilizer. So, basically what e.g. the Marimba Farm is in HM AP

- His main customer is Papyrus and they’re on friendly terms. Asgore is worried about how much and how hard Pap works, so he often gives him a discount.

- Since his family’s past tragedy, Asgore is kind of nervous around kids. So, when he first met Frisk, he hoped they’d not visit him too often. But to his chagrin, Frisk took an instant liking to him and spends a lot of time at his shop (and steals eats the fresh grown veggies). Now, he’s really grateful for that, because for one, he loves Frisk as dearly as he had his own children, and also because now the tension and mistrust between him and Toriel seem to grow smaller day by day.

Undyne&Alphys:

- I gave Undyne a pretty basic fisher’s outfit. Alphys basically has Elli from HM’s outfit, just a bit more doctory stuff added. She still has her canon lab coat too.

- In essence, Undyne and Alphys have 2 completely different jobs. Alphys is the resident doctor and Undyne runs the fish market.

Two things. Yes, I know Alphys is more a mechanic than a doctor, she fits the aesthetic though, so she’s the doc now. And no, Undyne being a fisherwoman is not cannibalism, think of it more as a shark hunting smaller fish.

- The reason I lump them together is because they act as the local “smithy”. Alphys is still really tech savvy in this (I mean, Mettaton is still part of this AU), so she takes on most problems with electronics and stuff. For Undyne, I didn’t want to lose her Royal Guard’s Captain image, so she’s really good at handling tools (and weapons, but Al doesn’t let her make them anymore). So basically, if there’s a broken tool, you can be sure that either Undyne or Alphys can fix it.

- As for relationships, those two are still an item. Alphys is still really shy and a shut-off, but since Undyne and Pap become best friends, she gets to know the skelebros better. She and Sans especially get along well, since most of the time Undyne and Papyrus are let loose, they sit back and talk about science-y stuff. (no, Sans doesn’t have a background in science but he’s still into sci-fi)

- Alphys has a bit of a strained relationship with both Asgore and Mettaton.

Back when Chara and Asriel died, it was because of “illness” (maybe poisoning?). Alphys feels awful because with her back then limited knowledge on medicine she couldn’t help the two. Asgore doesn’t hold anything against her but Alphys can’t help but feel guilty.

Alphys still built Mettaton’s body in this one. The two had a really big disagreement, because Mettaton hated the fact the town was going to close, and he couldn’t understand how Alphys could feel otherwise, even more so endorse the idea.

Mettaton, Napstablook, Mad Dummy/Mew Mew:

- Napsta and Dummy are pretty self-explanatory, they got straw hats. Mettaton’s outfit is a bit of a joke cos it’s a play on “work at the top and party at the bottom”. The tie has two different sides, one with the yellow red pattern, the other completely red. His “top part” is the business part, because when he’s on tv or in the mayors’ office, you don’t usually see his feet. The bottom is his party/dance part, cos his dancing/entertainment channels mostly feature his legs.

- Mettaton, still a robot, Napstablook and Mad Dummy are all still cousins in this AU.

- Originally, they all lived and worked at the Blook Farm, the Animal Farm of this AU. Mettaton, however, despised that simple live and after befriending Alphys and her building him a body, he left the Farm to pursue bigger things.

- Mettaton runs the local tv network. From weather to game shows, he does it all. He also runs the tailor shop in town that sells his designer clothes and merchandise. After Asgore stepped down, Mettaton also took over the role of town’s mayor and now works towards making the place more known again. Not everybody is happy with him doing that though.

- One of those people is the Mad Dummy. He can’t stand people anyways and he always claims that history would just repeat itself.

- Since the whole family is made of ghosts, they have different dummies and scarecrows they can use to take care of the animals. To mock Mettaton and kinda get back at Alphys for giving MTT such an opportunity, Mad Dummy found the blueprints for the Mew Mew robot and now modelled one of their scarecrows after it.

- Napstablook isn’t fond of taking over obejcts like his cousins do, so he mostly takes care of the snails. Somehow, he can interact with them even when incorporeal.

Muffet&Grillby:

- The two of them run the Inn together. Muffet cooks in the daytime and makes desserts, Grillby manages the bar in the evening.

- The two still can’t really stand each other but working together like this benefits them both because their rivalry just spurs them on more.

- Even though Grillby is a patient person, somehow Muffet is the only person who riles him up enough to retaliate. (Well, maybe except for Sans, he’s a strong second).

So, basically everything between those two is a challenge in some way. Even if Papyrus doesn’t notice, even his cooking lessons are a challenge for them.

- Even though they’re constantly bickering, after working together for so many years, there’s a strange level of respect and trust between them. Even if back when they first started this business, they’d pour salt into an already open wound, nowadays they’d know better and just take a step back from the other or even comfort the other (on very rare occasions only).

Asriel&Chara:

- They be dead. Kinda.

Some Characters that’d live in that town too but that I haven’t made designs for:

- Gerson is the original smithy of the town. He’d grown up in a family of smiths, but he’d always had an appreciation for the sea. That’s why, when the town became more deserted and Undyne had a good enough skill level as smith, he took up the Captains hat and now mostly spends his days out on sea. He also ferries people to places if they need him to. Oh, and just like in canon, Undyne learned most of her skills from him.

- Burgerpants is a poor dude Mettaton basically kidnapped when he was trying to get fame in the city. Now Burgerpants works wherever MTT needs him to, be that as cameraman for the tv shows, cashier in his tailor shop or his slave secretary in the mayor’s office.

- MK is Frisk’s best kid friend. MK’s parents are in charge of shipping the goods out of town and paying the individual people. MK’s the one that usually collects the goods at the end of the day.

- Other than that, there are only a few people in town. I’d imagine the older folks or the really young families stayed in town after it was closed. I think the librarby dude would still run the library. Some Snowdin residents like the stone family or the dogs also might still live there.

There were few differences between summer and winter when it came to the Kuril islands. Summers lasted no more than a month or two, and they were filled with wind and rain, which battered cool, summer storms on the large windowpanes of the labs. Winters bore foreboding blizzards and long, dark days, bringing the same storms––though much colder––that the summer did.

Regardless of the change in season, you looked out of the pristine glass and found an overcast sky predicting thick layers of precipitation. Snow already coated the land.

Neither you nor Safin were especially religious, meaning even the more homey areas in the bunker remained undecorated, vacant from the holiday cheer you knew in your childhood. He never celebrated holidays in his life, but you had, and a part of you missed the traditions that called back to your ancient ancestors. How strange your yearning now seemed, when in those times you endured your worst years.

You sighed deeply, leaning your cheek into your propped up palm as you stared out the massive wall of windows. Fog crawled up the window at your breath, and the freezing air outside kept it there, seeping the frost into your home.

"What is it you're missing, dear?"

You whipped around, your shoulders tensed until you realized it was only Lyutsifer behind you. As usual, the blue cloak on his shoulders kept him warm, while his bare hands were kept close to his chest. The scars on his skin left him more sensitive to Russia's chill.

"Nothing, I don't think," you said quietly, but it was still the loudest sound in the empty, echoing room, and your voice caught on the high ceiling.

A soft, humorless chuckle left him, and he stepped closer. You adored how he smiled; how it'd make stars appear in your eyes, how it made you smile, as well.

"What can I do for you?" He asked as he sat down across from you, his hands folded neatly in his lap and his posture pristine.

"What do you mean?"

"You've been here nearly all day," he said. "It's 16 o' clock."

"Really?" You rubbed your eyes, hoping to rid them of the cold. "I didn't notice."

"Clearly." He scanned you for a moment. "Is this about your father?"

You stiffened, your lips curling into a thin line.

"You don't miss him, do you?" He asked quietly.

"No. I just... remember," you mumbled, fidgeting with your fingers. "Somehow I want to relive it, even though I know it was bad."

"A classic sign of trauma," he said, and you gave a tiny nod. "Will you let me distract you?"

He offered you his hand. You smiled, closing your eyes as you placed your hand in his.

"Of course, my love."

If there was one place in this building that ever felt any love, it would be the garden. He spent ceaseless, tireless hours studying and maintaining the plants, testing their abilities and their limits.

You'd never had the peace of mind to read as deeply into the biological art as he did, but you knew a fair amount of the names of what he grew. In the very least they were all familiar, despite the daily change of natural growth, including the vines that grew up the side of a tall, thorny tree. Every time you visited the garden with Lyutsifer, another sprout of ivy was ready to bloom.

"Careful with that one, dear," he said, leaning the short way down to peer over your shoulder. "It's been weak lately."

"I know, black locust, deciduous" you chuckled, turning to watch how the edges of his lips twitched upwards beside you.

"Tell me what it does."

"Bark and roots are poisonous, especially to horses, and the seeds are poisonous to humans, I think."

"Very good." He pecked your temple. "Can you tell me what makes it a potential invasive species?"

"The.. the wood is weak, and the flowers grow in clusters, meaning there's lots of seeds that are being spread in a small area."

"The wood is brittle, but otherwise correct," he chuckled. "It grows incredibly quickly and is highly susceptible to locust attacks."

The two of you shared knowing smiles for a split second before he departed, returning with scissors to trim a low-growing bush. As always when he worked, he had donned large, white gloves, protecting him from the poisons of his trade.

The garden was a special sort of beauty; not particularly aesthetically pleasing to the eye, but paired with the knowledge of its' contents, became a marvel of nature. You could spend hours wandering through his family's gardens, but as usual, you were more caught up in watching Lyutsifer tend to the plants.

What happened catch your eye was something new––something that appeared to be a round bush, clinging to the barren tops of deciduous trees. From the way it grew, you assumed it to be another one of his infectious plants, invading and killing the natural growth of a forest. Here, however, it was contained, and you stared with a gently knotted brow at the clusters that stretched across the dry, tangled wood.

"Lyutsifer," you said softly, not bothering to tear your eyes from the tree. You knew he'd be at your side in a second.

"Yes?" He tucked his gloved hands behind his back.

"Is this tree infected or something?"

"Yes. With mistletoe."

You paused, turning to him after a moment's silence during which he didn't elaborate.

"Mistletoe?" You repeated.

"Yes, an obligate hemiparasite." You grinned silently as he began to blurt out facts, a habit he picked up when the two of you were alone. "Obligate parasites are unable to live any longer without a host to feed off of. But the hemiparasite part dictates that the mistletoe only takes some of the hosts' resources, and collects other resources on its' own."

"What does it take from the tree?"

"Water. It can photosynthesize, but none of its' roots seep water from the earth.." he trailed off as he stared up at the infection. "Phora and viscotoxin make it a poison, though a poorly working one."

"Is it... new?" You asked, unable to recall if you'd seen it before or not.

"Yes, only a week or so. It grows incredibly quickly, which is fortunate for the use I've planned for it," he said with a small nod.

You chuckled, "what've you got in mind for it? Some other devious poison?"

"No," he answered simply. "You'll find out."

You narrowed your eyes suspiciously in his direction, hoping the glare would pry more information, but he just grinned and returned to pruning his darlings. Dissatisfaction bubbled beneath your expression––you tempered it by moving on to pale, flowering buds.

Your devotion to Safin was never a question, but his love affair with poison did worry you. Both of you had been victims of lethal toxins, set within your body for the express purpose of death. His reaction to it was to know poison; to know its' limits, its' capabilities, its' cures. How to weaponize it. If there was something you despised about him, it would be this, as your reaction had been the opposite of his––an intense, oppressive paranoia. You would, of course, never say anything. You still owed him your life.

Even in the humid, temperate climate of the garden, your hands and fingers remained frozen. It limited your time with Safin, and soon you were headed back towards the comforting fireplace.

The day turned quietly to night, with no artful sunset or coloring of the sky. No north star appeared, and no galaxy was visible by the time dark had overwhelmed the land, but one thing had happened; while you were back to staring out the window, Lyutsifer padded silently into the living room, and lined the fireplace's mantle with blue and white fairy lights. He wouldn't dare decorate anywhere outside your pocket of the complex, where you––his angel––spent most of your time. But by the time you turned round, he was already gone, and you were left alone to marvel at the tiny lights.

As you wandered about your home with dinner in mind, you came across a few more pieces he had set up. A wreath of pine and red sugar plums, Russian ornaments and dolls dangling from the light fixtures. The last one you found that day was hanging in the threshold of the kitchen, where you stood for a moment, leant against the frame with a stupid grin as you watched him cook.

At first, you didn't notice it there above you––Lyutsifer had time to set away his spoon and approach you till he stood closely before you.

"I saw the things you put up," you said quietly, just barely containing your adoration for his thoughtfulness.

The moment you said your last word he was leaning in, capturing you in a soft kiss that pulled you wordlessly toward him. His scarred hand reached up to your cheek, brushing over the skin, and cradling your jaw to keep you close. Your lips stretched into a smile when he regretfully parted, leaving one chaste good-bye kiss.

"What was that for?" You asked.

It was rare that he initiated touch, but when he did, it was much like this––this overwhelming, infinite yearning that poured from his heart to yours.

His eyes flickered upwards, and it was then you saw the freshly-trimmed mistletoe hanging above you, wrapped in a tight, red ribbon. You chuckled as your cheeks flushed red.

"Is that your project for it, then?"

"Don't worry. I have more planned."

By 'more' he apparently meant more of the same thing, as for the next two weeks, you found more and more mistletoe in increasingly odd places; hanging above the couch, above the dinner table, on the shower door (yes, even there), and in your bedroom. As he dipped in to kiss you for the umpteenth time in front of the fireplace, where he'd hung another bouquet of mistletoe, you finally said something.

"You know, you don't have to do all this work just so you have an excuse to kiss me. You can do it any time you'd like," you said, though your seriousness barely retained itself, erased by your rosy grin.

He kissed you again before responding.

"I haven't got any holiday traditions," he said, and you knew that. You never thought it bothered him. "This one I like more than any other."

"Well," you took his hand, raising it to your lips and pressing a tiny kiss to his palm, "indulge as much as you'd like, my love."

summary: sokka's convinced there's a mystery illness keeping you from focusing, but somehow he's completely oblivious that the only 'sick' you are is lovesick, and he's the reason you can't focus.

a/n: i have never written a sickfic. but this is like. a fake sick fic. its an idiots in love fic. i mean this is coming from mr "is he taller than me? is he better looking?" himself so. it makes sense. as usual, this is not proofread bc im a lazy mf

How could the smartest man you knew be so, so incredibly stupid?

You thought that you were being obvious, so obviously that you were sure he knew. It was embarrassing how obvious you were.

You had met Sokka in your calculus class at the start of the new semester after you ended up sitting next to each other, and it wasn’t a stretch to say that you were immediately smitten. With eyes like the ocean and a face that had to have been crafted by the gods, you were almost too distracted to respond when he asked you for a pencil. But when he winked at you after giving his thanks, it only solidified what you had already suspected: you had known this man for all of five minutes, and you already had a crush on him.

Little did you know, it was going to turn into the most infuriating crush you had ever experienced.

You and Sokka became fast friends even though calculus was the only class you had together. Unfortunately, it was also something that you completely sucked at. Bad news, it was required for your major. Good news, Sokka was some sort of genius and offered to tutor you — Wednesdays in the library turned into a weekly occasion, and served as an opening for your calculus skills, your feelings for Sokka, and your exasperation to all grow stronger.

You normally weren’t someone to beat around the bush. If you started to like someone, you told them and dealt with whatever happened after, but something about Sokka just kept you from spilling your feelings outright. You knew that if he didn’t feel the same way, your relationship likely wouldn’t change, but there was still that tiny voice that said it’s better to stay like this in case things do go wrong — and this was the first time you listened to that voice. You simply valued your friendship too much.

But that didn’t mean you were going to be completely quiet about it — you hoped that if you did enough, he would be able to realize you liked him and do the whole process for you. A bit of a dim hope, but crushes make people do stupid things.

Things like bringing an extra coffee to every session, laughing at all his jokes (even the bad ones), sitting a little closer to him than usual, not dropping out of this wretched class so you could spend time together (it might’ve been required, but you still counted it). He didn’t make a point to object to anything, so you knew you weren’t making him uncomfortable — but you had concluded after nearly a whole semester of working and studying together that he was the most oblivious person in all of Ba Sing Se. He could teach you all kinds of formulas, but had no idea that you liked him. Grand.

Today was arguably the most important session out of any of them, seeing as your next class was the final, so it was only fitting that Sokka unknowingly made himself more interesting than any material you could’ve been working with. His arms were going to be the death of both you and your calc grade. You swore that the heat rushing to your cheeks was actually emanating off of you.

“Hey, Y/N!” Sokka grinned as he saw you and raised a hand in greeting, a sentiment you would’ve returned had it not been for the coffee cups in your hands. You settled for mirroring his grin and settled down in the seat across from him. You slid his coffee cup over, set your own down, then shrugged your bag off all before taking a seat.

“You ready to study ‘till your eyes bleed?” he asked, prompting a nervous laugh from you.

“You jest, but my eyes might actually start bleeding depending on how long we go,” you sighed. “There’s a reason I got an extra shot of espresso today.”

“Come on — by now you should know that you have nothing to worry about! I am the best teacher there is, and you got me all to yourself.”

Your eyes widened momentarily and you coughed, purposefully averting your gaze to give yourself some time to recover. Okay, he was going to make it really hard to focus today. “Let’s just get into it.”

He nodded and flipped open his notebook, beginning to talk as he rifled through his bag for a few extra things. “Okay, we’re just gonna start with going over the basics, then we’ll work our way up. There’s a couple practice problems on that page, so you can go ahead and answer those as a warmup.

You slid the notebook over in front of you and after approximately five seconds of looking at the first problem, found yourself studying Sokka rather than the material. Who could blame you? In the battle of cute tutor boy versus calculus, he was going to win every time.

He turned around and you immediately averted your eyes once again, trying to appear extremely involved, but you found that your mind was empty on anything to do with math. “Hey, uh— how do you do this first one? I’m totally blanking here.”

“We use limits in everything — this is actually something you’re really good at!” He studied you intensely and frowned. “Are you okay? Like, you’re not sick or anything, are you? You seem kinda out of it.”

You choked out a laugh and shook your head. “No, no — I’m fine. I guess I’m just a little tired.” As if to demonstrate your lie, you took a sip from your coffee and cringed internally. Love had turned you into an idiot.

He seemed to buy it as he nodded and picked up the pencil, scribbling a couple of notes as he explained the first problem to you. “Does that make sense?” You nodded and he handed the pencil back to you. “Okay — the other ones follow the same kind of process. It should be easy enough.”

You managed to get a little further in the second problem, but your lovestruck mind would not stop focusing back on Sokka every time you tried to do, well, anything. Curse him and his perfect arms, and eyes, and hairstyle, and everything.

You shook your head and set the pencil down once more, letting loose a frustrated sigh. “I don’t know what’s gotten into me.” Yes, you did. “I just can’t focus at all.” Because of you. You picked up your cup once more and took a sip, hoping it would do something to get you back into the math state of mind.

Sokka frowned once more as he put the back of his hand against your forehead. “God, you’re hot.” You nearly choked on your coffee as your eyes practically bulged out of their sockets — he had to know what he was doing by now — how could he not? “Like, you’re completely burning up. Are you sure you’re okay?”

“I’m fine, I swear— I just…” you set your cup down on the table and heaved a sigh that was a touch more exasperated than necessary. “Are you telling me you seriously haven’t noticed? Like, not a single thing this whole year?”

“I’ve noticed a lot of things this year,” he chuckled. “It’s kind of our whole job, so you’re gonna have to be a lot more specific.”

You finally couldn’t hold it in anymore. “Sokka, I’m not— I’m not sick! Haven’t you noticed that I’m only ever flustered, or running into things, or forgetting info, or— or just a complete idiot when I’m around you? I like you, like, a lot, and I have for an embarrassingly long time! The reason I can’t focus is because I am hopelessly attracted to you in every single way.”

His brows creased for a moment and you clamped your mouth shut, worried that you had just ruined everything. It was only after a pause that felt like a century that he finally responded, the hint of a smirk on his lips.

“Well, why didn’t you just say something?”

You stared at him, eyes wide and lips slightly parted in pure surprise before the annoyance set in. You set your jaw as your brows furrowed and you hit him lightly on the side of his arm with the back of your palm. “You can’t be serious! You— you’ve gotta be messing with me by now. I really can’t believe that you can be that smart but this oblivious!”

He finally let the grin play across his lips in full force and he shrugged nonchalantly. “I mean, I don’t know how you don’t expect me to mess with you when you scrunch up your face all cute like that every time you get mad. Besides, I started liking you after that fifth class; I offered to help you out so I could spend more time with you! I didn’t realize you felt the same way.
