Okay, so I’m going to try to explain this as best I can. Ima say that I’m approaching this topic as somebody who’s AFAB. That’s my lived experience and socialization so this is my potential bias.

I find it very interesting the difference between how most men and women react to Astarion. A lot of men don’t like him, and find him too extra. A lot of women find him to be very attractive and endearing.

I’ve never found Astarion as creepy. Yes, he’s extroverted and sassy, but as somebody who’s AFAB I’ve never felt like he was weird. If anything, it’s quite the opposite. Never once did this man sexually objectify my character based on their gender—or any other character. I’ve never dated anybody in a video game before but Astarion was the first character I ever said “I want to romance you” and so I did like twice.

Now, let me contrast this with Atton Rand from KoTOR 2. When I played KoTOR 2 as a kid and I picked my assigned gender and met Atton Rand, and he was like “oh nice a barely dressed woman heheh” and then went “aw man smh no more woman in her underwear” when I finally found clothes, I got so uncomfortable that I quit and played as a guy. To this day, I do not like playing as a woman in Kotor 2 because of how Atton Rand be acting. I don’t like Atton Rand.

I never felt that with Astarion. Astarion never made me feel uncomfortable as a player. Yes, he’s sassy and a lil flirty but it never felt like it was directed solely at me like he’s literally like this with everybody. I’ve had male characters in games make me feel uncomfortable as a real life woman but I don’t get that with Astarion. I could make judgements and say that it’s internalized homophobia and because Astarion isn’t some traditionally masculine man but I won’t do that.

All I’m saying is that I’ve been made to feel uncomfortable by male video game characters but Astarion has always made me feel comfortable. I’m not saying that you’re wrong if you don’t like astarion or whatever but just speaking as somebody who’s AFAB, he’s no Atton Rand. It’s not like you meet him for the first time and he objectifies you. He doesn’t make sexual remarks about you when you first meet him, he just tries to kill you—which is honestly more attractive than having somebody say “ooo sexy lady with tight clothes my dream come true” imo

Astarion is sassy and flirty but I’ve never felt like he objectifies the player character for their gender. But that’s just me

Sigh, tighnari despite my best efforts has wormed his way into my heart and your thing didn’t help🤧 I am not immune to assholes unfortunately. IK he would oh so subtly but weird plants around for me to eat like oh nooo how on earth did that get there??? Hi hi Sherry! (hopefully you're okay with me calling you that since i see it on your blog.)

Thank you for your interest in my series! As things stand so far the fic has 7 chapters but i plan for it to go up to 10 so that its complete and it feels like a good number on which to end it on since i don't want to drag things out. the trip itself is both to mond and liyue so really ayato and reader will be there for a limited time, just feel like it wouldn't make sense for the yashiro commissioner to be away from inazuma for like months.

i will post the next part fairly soon so i don't want to give too much away but all i can say is 'two blue men really will meet one another and they will be sassy sassy while reader has to figure out certain truths and put things into perspective.' but i also plan to have them meet each other away from the public view in a way keke.

hopefully i am able to finish the fic in the way that it feels fulfilling.

Lan Qiren is Not a Completely Terrible Parent + Bonus Headcanon

Some disorganized thoughts on Lan Qiren!

A lot of my thoughts on Lan Qiren come from a bilibili article breaking down what it means be be righteous (雅正) in accordance to the Lan Sect’s motto. The article is in Chinese so I’ll just sum up some of the major ideas first:

~It fundamentally refutes the idea of Lan Wangji as the “black sheep” in the Lan Sect

~It assumes Cloud Recesses has a highly collective intrasect environment. Children are raised not just by the parents, but by the entire Sect.

~The Elders raised Wangji and saw him grew up and didn’t have the heart to hurt Wangji, even after he escaped with Wei Wuxian into the cave. Western fandom especially tends to see the elders as strict, conservative disciplinarians who are rigid in their beliefs to the point of hypocrisy. This meta refutes that. It’s unreasonable that Wangji, no matter how strong his cultivation, would be able to stand on his own against 33 seasoned cultivators. So, contrary to popular belief, the elders allowed Wangji to injure them so they would not have to harm a child of the Sect.

~Lan Sect rules are not about what is literally written, but the spirit of the rules. This also makes sense given that when you have 4000+ rules, some rules are bound to contradict one another. And, many rules are quite vague. Eg. “sneering for no reason is prohibited.” Where is the line that justifies sneering? There is none because the idea is not “don’t sneer for no reason,” the idea is “don’t be unnecessarily rude.” In many of the rules, there is room for interpretation and it is this process of interpretation that is valued over the literal inscription of the rules.

~Basically, they are not good people because of the rules. They are good people because they are good people. The rules guide them to make good judgement, but good judgement does not comes from following the rules to a T.

~So the function of 雅正 (to be righteous) is internal, not performative.

~It is this internal clarity that makes Gusu Lan “innocent” (the word used is 纯真; 纯/chun = pure, clarity, genuine, practised and 真/zhen = true, real, genuine, clear)

~There is also a long history of Lans being deviant and rebellious. In CQL, there is Lan Yi who invents guqin battle techniques. They are also the only Clan to have been led by a female cultivator. Qingheng-jun clearly went against orthodoxy by marrying a murderer, but still remained in Cloud Recesses. We’re going to set aside consent here because is a total other separate conversation, but his punishment is self-imposed, not enforced by the Sect. So there are a lot of rules, but they aren’t pedantic. There is leeway, as seen in Lan Yi, but only within reason, as demonstrated by Qingheng-jun.

~Like his ancestors, Wangji also deviated from the straightforward path but his sect accepted his unrepentant love for Wei Wuxian in the end.

~In the end, Wangji gets what he wants: to live with Wei Wuxian in Cloud Recess. But he only gets this because the elders and Lan Qiren allow him to.

~To allow Wei Wuxian to exist in Cloud Recesses, the Lan Sect has to be more inclusive than we typically see them as.

~Despite everything, Lan Wangji still wants to return to Cloud Recesses because it is home to him.

~This is also my favourite explanation of Jingyi’s Jingyi-ness. Rather than Wangji (and possibly Xichen) singlehandedly creating a space for Jingyi, that space already existed. Jingyi isn’t as much of a black sheep as people portray him as because you don’t grow into a Jingyi if everyone is constantly yelling at you to follow rules. CQL Jingyi is plenty sassy, even in front of Lan Qiren, and Jingyi isn’t stupid! He was born and raised in Cloud Recesses, he knows when he is pushing several of the rules and he knows that he has the leeway to do so, and that Lan Qiren will not stop him (within reason).

~”Be righteous” is how the Lan motto is translated in English, but it’s….not exactly what it is in Chinese.

~In modern Chinese, it’s 雅正. 雅/ya = elegance, graceful and 正/zheng = positive, correct, straight, just.

~Notice how the two parts of the motto contrast one another. Ya is outward, something that dictates how you act. Zheng is internal, determined by your actions and attitudes. Zheng is the foundation of Ya.

~As a related aside, the literary meaning of 雅正 is slightly different; it means to be correct and honest, and to welcome corrections to one’s shortcomings. The literary 雅 is to be proper。

~The meta ends with this beautiful line: 所谓的“雅正”，家族交出来，体雅是表象，心正才是更本。Now to ruin it in translation: “Each configuration of “righteousness,” as taught by the Sect, is outward physical elegance built on the foundation of a moral heart.”

~TLDR: Rebelliousness is a function of Gusu Lan, not an anomaly.

Onto some fun headcanons!

~Lan Qiren has personal issues with Wei Wuxian because of his mother, but he is more horrified by Wei Wuxian because Wei Wuxian has all this potential and then uses it to go down the heretial path?? Blaphemous. All that ability, all that work, only to throw it all away? Wei Wuxian is incredibly competent and Lan Qiren begrudgingly respects that competence. What he can’t stand is Wei Wuxian’s lackadaisical attitude towards his cultivation.

~In novel canon, Lan Qiren accepts Wangji and Wei Wuxian’s marriage. He definitely still has issues with Wei Wuxian for being a mass murderer, a demonic cultivator, for desecrating the dead, etc. Also for his general Wei Wuxian-ness. But Wei Wuxian is nothing is not incredibly competent and Lan Qiren eventually softens towards Wei Wuxian because of that competence. Once Wei Wuxian starts using that competence to be useful to the Sect and not just to be as annoying as possible, he gets Lan Qiren’s approval.

~Secretly, of course. Lan Qiren would qi deviate before saying nice about Wei Wuxian to his face.

~I totally wrote a fic on Lan Qiren publicly defending Wei Wuxian heheh

~Cloud Recesses is only so big and Lan Qiren can’t avoid Wei Wuxian, even if he is never trying to seek him out. Plus, Wei Wuxian has this way of being in the most inconvenient place at the most inconvenient time.

~We all agree Wei Wuxian is a terrible cook. But, is he a bad cook because he adds too much spice, or he is a bad cook because he’s a bad cook? He did manage to cook congee for the ducklings in Yi Cheng without any fatalities. so I’m inclined to believe the former.

~Lan Qiren definitely thinks Wei Wuxian is a terrible cook, especially after hearing about how Wei Wuxian burned a hole in a pot.

~But Wei Wuxian is Wei Wuxian and even if he can’t be trusted with spices (or anything remotely resembling seasoning), he can make plain congee just fine....after some practice

~Lan Qiren eats this congee and it’s a perfectly good congee. Ideal thickness, light taste, no spices, slides down the throat smoothly and pairs perfectly with his dried zhacai (pickled mustard; a super common Chinese side dish). He asks who made the congee, expecting it to be Sizhui. He chokes when he is told Wei Wuxian is the cook.

~Lan Qiren knows how to be a good parent in theory. He’s just terrible at putting it to practice.

~Jingyi’s parents, when he was still a terrible toddler wreaking havoc everywhere, went to Lan Qiren for desperate advice like “why is our child such a terrible Lan???”

~But Jingyi isn’t actually Lan Qiren’s kid so he actually gives good advice. “Give him a toy, he’ll tire himself out for his nap,” “Let him crawl around, just cover sharp objects and table corners,” and “give him a crushed peach as a reward for walking across the room”

~But he doesn’t know how to talk to Xichen or Wangji as family. He loves them both dearly – obviously he raised them, but they’re also good nephews!! Questionable taste in men aside, they are excellent nephews! He just doesn’t know how to talk to them outside of official sect business.

~Especially with Wangji, He kind of did declare Wangji’s husband a heretic, a traitor, was extra hard on Wei Wuxian as a student, Wangji for visiting Wei Wuxian. And there’s that whole discipline whip thing.

~Which, to be fair, did end up saving Wangji’s life. Raising his sword against Sect Elders and one’s own family is an act of treason punishable by execution. But Lan Qiren can’t just execute his own nephew….he has a heart, even if no one believes it

~33 discipline lashes from the discipline whip is very harsh and Lan Qiren won’t pretend otherwise. But he could gamble that Wangji’s core is strong enough to pull him through. Because the odds of a living, resentful Wangji is better than a dead Wangji.

~They never talk about this. There are a lot of things they don’t talk about.

~Even before, Lan Qiren isn’t a bad parent. He just has no idea how to put his ideas of parenting into practice. He knows what a good parent looks like, he just doesn’t know how to be one.

~So he hides behind the rules because the rules can’t go that wrong, right? Right???

~Lan Qiren is lowkey jealous of Wei Wuxian for knowing how to be affectionate. He definitely thinks Wei Wuxian is too open with his emotions, but he is envious that Wei Wuxian and Wangji are open to each other in a way that Lan Qiren never established with either nephew. They are loyal in the filial manner of juniors to their elders, but Lan Qiren isn’t exactly close to his nephews.

~In his ongoing attempt to be a better uncle, he ends up getting advice from Wei Wuxian about emotions.

~It’s not like he can go to anyone else. And, well. That congee was really good.

~Turns out Wei Wuxian can brew the perfect pot of tea, too.

~Offensive. That Wei Wuxian is so competent and the least emotionally repressed person in all of Cloud Recesses.

~Eventually, Lan Qiren begins to understand why Wangji is so attached to Wei Wuxian, even if he still can’t stand to be in the same room as Wei Wuxian for longer than 15 minutes.

~No matter how much he might no longer hate Wei Wuxian, he prefers their interactions in small doses and spaced out.

~But he does learn to bond with Wei Wuxian over cultivation theory. Annoyingly, Wei Wuxian is just too useful to continue to despise.

Small but violent. Petite and sassy. When you first joined the world renowned Avengers, you’re teammates described you as such. Peter would often say that you “looked like a cinnamon roll, but could actually kill someone.” It was your cute and cuddly nature that granted you the nickname Baby. Everyone on the team called you this and you loved it. Especially when it came from your captain.

Steve took a special liking to you. He wasn’t sure if it was your kind heart, or your undeniable beauty, but he knew he was in trouble every time you snuggled up next to him. At first, Steve often worried about the age difference, but you’d often remind him that he couldn’t necessarily date someone his own age even if he wanted to. The way your persona would interchange from sexy deadly assassin to cute and giggly baby, truly astonished him. Your youthfulness distracted him from the blood filled life you two lived in, he was grateful for your love. Due to your small stature and him being quite *ahem* large, he truly dwarfed you. Some days when he’d stress over reports in his office, you’d climb into his lap and lay against his chest, whispering sweet words, or hum a soft tune to ground him once more.

You loved all your teammates all the same, and as your relationship with Steve blossomed, so did your friendship with his best pal. Bucky loved you just as much, maybe even more but he’d never admit it. He often grew worrisome over his ongoing crush he had on you, but he’d remind himself just that. It’s just a crush. Everyone pretty much had a crush on you, he thought, even Natasha. You were like a breath of fresh air to the team. Sweet and adventurous, always bright with a positive attitude. Your skills leveled as being just as sly and smart like Natasha, and your knife work and marksmanship was almost as sharp as his own. You were perfect in his eyes, and he’d hope in Steve’s eyes too.

It became a habit of yours to stick by Bucky’s side while Steve was away on a mission. It was rare that neither you nor Bucky weren’t sent on the same mission with the captain, but when the time did come, you’d be a nervous wreck until he arrived back safely.

Bucky, the ever devoted friend, distracted you from your anxiety. He’d take you to all your favorite spots in the city, train with you (and let you kick his butt), and he’d watch all your favorite movies until you fell asleep in his arms.

Steve was away on a month long mission, with Sam and Wanda. Both you and Bucky spent every single day with each other, trying to busy yourselves until your teammates returned. The dynamic between you two stayed the same, and you’d gotten into somewhat of a routine. In the late night when you’d finally let sleep take over, Bucky would carry you to your room and tuck you into bed. Sleep rarely paid him a visit when Steve was away, because while you were worried about Steve, he naturally was just worried about you.

“Buck?”

He heard your soft voice with the creak of his bedroom door being opened.

“Yeah Doll? What are you doin’ up?” He asks sitting up. He looks at you standing in the dim light of the hallway and you’re wearing one of Steve’s shirts, the material ends just right above your knees, and he smiles at the little fuzzy socks you have on.

“I- I can’t sleep. Too nervous.”

Without another word being exchanged, you made your way to Bucky’s bed and climbed in. He freezes at your actions and he physically feels the shift of your friendship. This is new to him. He’s not necessarily sure what Steve would think if he knew he’s got his girl in his bed, half dressed nonetheless. A small palm on his chest brings him back from his thoughts.

“James, please tell me everything is going to be alright.” Your voice is soft, your hands pull him to lay down with you.

“Okay baby, okay.”

Bucky holds you all night long, he whispers old lullabies to you, in Russian because he knows you understand, and when your breathing matches his own, a sense of loneliness washes over him. You are not his girl, but you are giving him a glimpse of what it would be like if you were.

Steve arrives back to his room in the early morning, much before the sun has a chance to rise. The bed has clearly been slept in, but you’re no where in sight. At first his heart drops, his mind going straight to the worst case. Bucky, he thinks. Bucky would definitely know where you are. Steve gently pushes open the door of his best friends room, and he is met with an unfamiliar sight. There you are, he sighs in relief, yet something twists deep in his gut. Your sleeping form is tucked tight on top of Bucky’s bare chest, both his arms holding you to him protectively. Steve is shocked, but not at the scene before him. His shock comes from, well the lack of. His gut feeling isn’t something of negativity, yet it is heart warming, his love for both his lover and best friend doubles in size and he almost tears up. He’s never seen Bucky sleep so peacefully, and he can’t help but smile at how small and precious you look cuddled up with him. Steve knows he loves you, and he loves Bucky, but maybe its all one in the same?

Love is a crazy thing. It’s overflowing and pure, and sometimes it can be twisty and overwhelming, but love has never been monogamous for you. As your love grew for Steve, it also grew for Bucky, and you were just lucky they were on the same page.

After much persuasion and begging, mostly on your part, Bucky agreed on the arrangement. He was new to this type of relationship, and didn’t want to intrude on what you and Steve already had. He knew he loved Steve but he loved you all the same.

Love is a crazy thing, all three of you know that for sure.

“Buck? You in here?” Steve steps into the dim light of the compound gym.

He sees Bucky immediately. He’s destroying a punching bag. Each blow creating tears, and it looks like its about to fall apart at any moment. The angry whirls of his left arm fill the silent room. Bucky is fully aware of Steve’s presence, but decides to ignore him just a little longer.

“Buck, come on. What did that bag ever do to you?” Steve steps forward, not phased by the heaving man in front of him. A gentle hand on the shoulder, and Bucky flinches. He’s trying to ease the inevitable pain, but the former winter soldier takes losses a little too personally. It’s not that they lost exactly, there were just a couple of more casualties than there should have been. No one was at fault, luck was just not a factor.

“Leave me alone Steve.” Bucky grits.

“You know I can’t do that.”

“Can’t or won’t?” He finally turns to Steve. Eyes rimmed red, face flush with shame, and eyes swirling with guilt. “I’m fine. I promise.”

“It’s not anyone’s fault, pal.” Steve tries, taking Bucky’s right hand in his. His knuckles are bleeding, and Steve applies pressure.

Bucky returns the gesture with a tight hold.

“I know. I- it’s just haunting. I’ve caused so much bad in this world, Steve. It feels like it’ll never stop. I close my eyes and all I see is red.” Bucky allows his walls to crumble, tears streaming steady. Pushing his face in Steve’s chest letting out sobs, as arms circle around him tightly. Steve knows theres nothing he can really say to change Bucky’s mind on how he feels, so he holds him. He lets him cry out all the pain, plants kisses on the top of his head, and whispers apologies. He feels sick that he can’t physically take this pain from him, so he does everything he can to soothe him.

“Stevie? James?”

The small voice startles them, not realizing someone had entered the gym. Bucky’s head shoots up, away from Steve as he takes you in, and Steve turns to greet you with a sorry look.

“Baby! I- I’m sorry. It’s late, you should be sleeping.” Bucky tries desperately to wipe his tears away, to compose himself in front of you.

The scene before you shatters your heart, and both men know it. It’s not that they’re here without you, but it’s the moments like these they try to hide from you. As if the darkest moments aren’t meant for Baby’s eyes. They are dead set on being your protectors, and you know Bucky tries to hide his anxiety and nightmares from you, as if it’d scare you away.

“James, come here.” your voice makes him soft, and he kneels in front of you. Arms of flesh and metal grab your waist almost frantically as he struggles to keep his panic attack at bay. You start to card your fingers through his hair, and tell him everything will be alright. Steve joins after a moment, kneels right down with Bucky.

“We’re here James, we love you.”

The pride that swells in both Steve’s and Bucky’s hearts is tangible. Mostly on missions when you show your alter ego. The team makes some joke over the comms like “Wheres Baby?”. On missions you’re focused, deadly even. The way you carry yourself is the complete opposite of your everyday persona. Baby is nowhere in site as you throw yourself into any fight. Steve had helped you with tactics, and Bucky helped you improve on hand to hand combat. Your talents truly shine through, on every mission.

“Jesus Y/N! You’re going to give us a heart attack!” Steve yells from the top story of the crumbling building you’re in. There’s an old man joke somewhere stuck at the back of your throat but you swallow it as you climb out from under the rubble.

“Oh calm down Stevie! Like you’ve never fallen down a couple of stories of a building!” You yell.

“Y/N, you scared us!” You can see Bucky already climbing down to come help you.

“Oh no guys, they’re calling me by my government name. I’m practically dead, start planning my funeral.” You tease.

“Alright, if everyone is okay down there it’s time to get out. The building is ready to blow!” You hear Sam’s voice filter through.

You know you’re in no real danger when you’re on missions with them. Your enhanced skills are just a plus when you have two Super Soldiers in love with you.

“James? Could you help me for a sec?” You’d call from the kitchen.

“What can I do for ya Baby doll?”

“I can’t reach the bowl from the top shelf, would you be a peach and get it down for me?” You ask with a sweet kiss to his chest.

Bucky looked down to you with a bright smile and a chuckle. He’s fully aware that you can very well climb the counter to reach it, but he knows you love playing baby.

‘Of course Doll, I got it.”

With a kiss to the top of your head, you turn to finish preparing dinner.

“Somethin’ smells good.” Steve’s voice filters the small room and you smile. Excited for both of your men to be home, you run and jump into Steve’s open arms.

“Welcome home Stevie! I made a real good dinner today, I found one of my mama’s old recipes!” You cover his jaw with excited kisses and you feel a hard chest at your back.

“She’s been slaving away in this kitchen all day, Steve. I’m so proud of our baby.” Bucky greets Steve with a kiss, then places a kiss to the side of your neck. The sound of your giggles fill the air and both men bask in your joy.

“Alright sweetheart, lets enjoy this amazing dinner you made.”

The three of you know that this is just temporary. A leave of absence, a vacation in your eyes. The harsh missions and bloodshed taking a toll on your lives and your health, a break was very much needed. You could’ve chosen the luxury of sandy beaches and resorts, but when asked where you wanted to spend the time off, you simply replied with “home.” The domesticity of it all warmed your heart like nothing else on this earth. Playing housewife was a dream all in its own, and you just wanted them to feel like they had a home with you. Being from a different time period agitates them on occasion, knowing they missed out on living normal lives. So you try your hardest to show them that they can still have that, they have a home.

Tony’s always the first to make some sort of Sugar Daddy joke. You think its funny and you like to tease Steve and watch his blush grow from his neck to his cheeks. Bucky on the other hand teases you, because he knows you enjoy calling him Daddy.

Both men spoil you to no end. On your days off they’ll take you shopping, bags upon bags filled with clothes, jewelry, and lingerie. It’s a dream come true really. You’ll pick out new shoes and pants for Steve, because he’s dead set on his casual dad look. Bucky will ask for your opinion on every single little thing he chooses. He’s got a very modern biker model look going for him and he owns multiple leather and jeans jackets that you absolutely adore him in.

Broad chests press both to your front and your back, leaving you breathless. Strong hands roam your body as if it’s a map, that they’ve memorized. Love is overflowing from all three bodies, conjoined with the need for one another.

Steve has always been a gentle lover. In some cases he’d get a bit forceful, usually after a stressful mission, but normally he worships you. From your head to your toes, there is not a piece of your skin left untouched by his lips. Completely addicted to the taste of you. Steve knows you’re strong, but he makes love to you as if you were made of glass. Like you’d break under him and he’d lose you if he was too rough. It’s not something you dislike, you love it actually. The way he takes care of you makes you feel wanted and truly loved. He holds you tight, whispers praise, and doesn’t stop until he knows you’ve been satisfied, at least more than three times.

Bucky is the complete opposite of Steve. Yet he is gentle with you, he’s an adventurous lover. The gleam in his eye can set you afire from across the room. He’s needy, and he’ll take you anywhere he pleases. The thrill of it excites you and his stamina is just as great as Steve’s. Bucky knows all your kinks. He knows when you’re in the mood to be spanked, choked, and downright used, and he happily obliges. He knows you’re a feisty little one, and being rough with you pleases him just as much as being gentle does. Bucky likes trying new things with you as well, and he thinks it’s hilarious when you seduce Steve into agreeing into something new, because he’ll get flustered and blush uncontrollably so.

Together they make you feel like a goddess. The contrast of the two sets your nerves on fire, hot flames run through your veins, and every time you swear it can’t get any better, but it always does.

Both men shower with you with affection, you simply drown in their love. There’s nothing they wouldn’t do for you. You’re their baby after all.

Eternal Love - Episode 6

So I must say... I never recognized Lian Song in his war apparel. Wow. That was like a totally different person. Now that I’ve seen Eternal Love of Dream, it makes sense since he likes to create new weapons and stuff, but well, yeah, I guess the first time I watched the drama I only noticed Yao Guang. Who seems not so happy to see Si Yin. Well, they bow politely and then both Lian Song and Yao Guang leaves. The fact that they came worries both Si Yin and Ling Yu. They wonder if there are bringing bad news, but Mo Yuan says that Lian Song never got to experience war, so he came for that reason. Ling Yu is to go at the front line, while Si Yin will stay with Mo Yuan. I have to say here... Mo Yuan’s head piece for war is really... interesting? I wonder how come it doesn’t fall off his head. Okay yes, there is some sort of elastic band, but honestly, it doesn’t look extremely secured in my opinion.

Mo Yuan decides to teach Si Yin how to control the Donghuang bell. Well, seal it. Does he sense something? Si Yin looks so happy that he’s willing to teach it to her. He’d rather not teach her actually, but she’s the only one amongst her disciple with a high enough rank? status? cultivation potential? I don’t know how to translate it well, but basically, the others wouldn’t be able to use this method even if they knew how it worked. Si Yin is wondering then if he didn’t realized her real identity.

Time for the battle came. The Yi even have some kind of weird creatures in the back. But Mo Yuan is like, yeah like I care, I am going to invoque some lightning, split the water in two and freeze it. So the Yi rush through the river. And I am wondering, why didn’t Mo Yuan just put back the back in it’s place? It worked well for Moses. Then huge disgusting creatures comes from beneath and kills the masses, and Mo Yuan’s tactical plan gets destroyed.

Yanzhi tries to stop Li Jing from jumping in the battle, but he rushes in anyways, even though he knows they will lose for sure. Oh boy I love fighting scenes. Bad ass Ling Yu and bad ass Die Feng. Li Yuan comes for a fight with Ling Yu. I am so stressed TT I love how they always spit blood. Then it gets bad for Ling Yu and Si Yin jumps in to save him. Ling Yu is like don’t come and Si Yin doesn’t make it on time to save him. Si Yin is crying over Ling Yu’s near coming death and then Li Yuan is about to strike her, but Li Jing stops him. He says since his wifey was useful, doesn’t he have the right to protect someone? So Xuannü stole the plans for the tactical, that’s why they can win. But even so, protecting the enemy is out of question. Si Yin is like, Li Jing you made Xuannü steal my stuff? But they don’t have the time to explain, someone, I am not sure... since it’s a phenix, is it Zhe Yan? But that person looked more like Bai Zhen. I would recognize Yu Menglong’s face anywhere, such a cutie. Well that person takes them away. Yep, it’s Bai Zhen. I knew it was him.

Si Yin is devastated by Ling Yu’s death and she begs Mo Yuan to save him. But he only tells her to get Die Feng so they send Ling Yu’s corpse to Kunlunxu. I the book, he doesn’t die by the way, actually the novel doesn’t spend that much time on when Bai Qian was still a disciple at Kunlunxu. Si Yin is sad to no limits and blames herself for the death of Ling Yu. She tells Mo Yuan that Xuannü stole the plans. So they realize they are sure to lose. And then so many officers come to report bad news. Mo Yuan asks Bai Zhen to take Si Yin away. Well he probably knows she’s Bai Qian and if he wasn’t sure, the fact that Bai Zhen, fourth son of the Qingqiu king came to save Si Yin when they are not implied in that war... well it says a whole lot. I love Bai Zhen’s outfit though **

Bai Qian seeks comfort in her brother, she blames herself, saying that if she didn’t keep Xuannü in Kunlunxu, if she didn’t met Li Jing, Ling Yu wouldn’t have died. Bai Zhen says he’s the one who sent Xuannü to her, so he’s to blame too then. She also says that if it weren’t for her sister in law, wife of her big brother, she would have killed Xuannü way before and Bai Zhen says she’s no Qingqiu people anymore since she chose the Yi and next time Bai Qian bumps into her, she should kill her without mercy. She deserves it.

The three princes of the Tian want to participate actively in the war, but Mo Yuan says it falls to his responsibility to fight it and he has sixteen disciples to lead the armies with him. Then he says he need 10, 000 people to sacrifice themselves. Sangji asks Mo Yuan to rethink about this, but Mo Yuan says it’s the only for the rest of them all to survive, otherwise more people are going to die. The leader of Sujin clan offers his men to do it. Than Yao Guang says that if they use an unknown general, Qing Cang is going to guess it’s a decoy. Apart from Mo Yuan, the only other person would be her. So she volunteers to lead the 10,000 soldiers. He reminds her that doing so she’ll die for sure, but she says she knows and she’ll do it.

Bai Zhen will lead Ling Yu’s troop at the front line and Si Yin Yao Guang’s troop at the back. At first Mo Yuan doesn’t really want to let Si Yin do it, his baby disciple. But since Bai Zhen offers himself... I guess he does to keep an eye on his little baby sister. Because Qingqiu isn’t part of the conflict.

Fighting choreographies are just so beautiful in a way. I can only admire the hard work of the actors for that. Well they manage to defeat the army and Mo Yuan says that if they retreat, they still have a chance to live. But Qingcang isn’t willing to give up, as long as he’s king, the war won’t stop. He takes out the the Donghuang bell. Si Yin jumps in, trying to do I don’t know what... Bai Zhen is like noooo! Mo Yuan goes after her, fortunately because she’s definitely no match for Qing Cang. He sends her back to Bai Zhen and rushes to stop the Donghuang bell. He ends up having a fight with Qing Cang. This aerial fighting scene is just too beautiful. However, there’s one moment, I could clearly see it wasn’t Chao Yuting, but a double, even though they did a very good job overall, never including any face shots and everything. I wish he could do those stunts himself though. That would be awesome. The only problem is Mo Yuan’s headpiece. It looks so terrible that it makes it a little too... oh well. I can’t take it as seriously as I should. Mo Yuan pushes Qing Cang in the bell and then flies towards. Then he tells Si Yin to wait for him before getting in the bell too and sealing it. Only his corpse comes back. Si Yin catches it.

The Yi comes to say they won’t fight anymore, as they don’t want to be the Tian’s enemies. Sassy Bai Qian is up hehehe! She turns looking at Li Yuan with those killer eyes. She decides to attack everybody, they should all die too. Yanzhi begs Si Yin. Si Yin is restrained back by her older disciples. Bai Zhen is just standing there being pretty, until he knocks her out. Bai Zhen is such a bad ass and takes her back to Kunlunxu.

Siming tells Donghua that Mo Yuan died while sealing the Donghuang bell. Donghua is shooooook. And dismisses Siming before calling him back to send him go to Ziming palace as soon as possible. They can’t delay.

Li Jing is drinking his problems away. When Xuannü comes next to him, he slaps her away. He doesn’t care she did that for him, that war had nothing to do with him. She says he’s her only support now and he tells her she’s relying on the wrong person. As Li Yuan will probably ascend as the king now, he’s most likely to die very soon. Li Yuan never hid the fact that he would rather have Li Jing dead.

Siming comes to help Li Jing take over Li Yuan as king of the Yi. Li Jing refuses at first, he’s not interested, but then Siming tells him in that case he’s most likely to die. Plus he has to avenge for his mother’s death.

The lotus flower dies. Si Yin asks Zheyan when will Mo Yuan wake up?

Morrigan #3 (How close was your Warden to Morrigan? Did your Warden respect her abilities as a witch of the wilds?)

When Solana met Morrigan, she nearly swooned. Here was this woman, free from the nonsense of the Chantry, powerful beyond belief, living on her own terms (well, minus Flemeth). She could not have respected her more! Admittedly, she had a small crush on her for a while. Their critical and sassy temperaments had them getting along instantly, and soon her crush passed in favor of a bond of sisterhood. One of the most memorable moments they shared was a night by the campfire. As they talked about their Mothers, both the negatives and the positives, Morrigan told her about Flemeth’s terrifying plan to steal her body. Solana, though gravely concerned and protective of her friend simply said (holding a toad) “You know with our combined magic we could turn her into a toad. Then the only thing she’d be stealing is a wart remover poultice,” Morrigan snorted, but they shared a sense of kinship and understanding that night, the kind unbreakable by any human means.

Leliana #4 (Did your Warden believe that Leliana was telling the truth about her vision from the Maker or were they skeptical?)

Solana is not certain if the Maker exists per se, (though if he does she has a few choice words for him), but she is certain there is something out there. There was no reason to doubt Leliana simply because she was young. She simply didn’t see what all the fuss was about. Solana was even inclined to believe it to be true, if not just for the reason that Leliana had searched for them and defended them from Loghain’s men. Whatever the truth was, (and why shouldn’t her vision be true? More important people have said way more incoherent things) Leliana’s vision had led her here, and perhaps that was all that was necessary to know.

Alistair #1 (What sort of attachment did your Warden form with Alistair, if any at all? Were they close due to their shared experiences as Grey Wardens?)

Solana’s eagerness to escape the Circle and live freely on her own terms culminated in the largest high once she arrived at Ostagar. HERE, was real trees, real sky, real freakin dirt, real PEOPLE who weren’t mages and templars, AND she had just told Irving and Greogoir where they could stick her staff. What. a. day. Her mind was exploding with the possibilities of kinds of people she would meet. Would she meet a sneaky rogue? a daring princess turned warrior? a disgraced merchant? (The novels she had read carried A LOT of similar archetypes)

Well, she met Alistair. Granted, Solana is generally calculating and quiet with hint of smugness, so she did not react out of the ordinary, but knowing this was someone who was going to be a brother in arms had piqued her interest. Quickly she discovered he was easy to tease and bother, something she pocketed for amusement later.

Being the only two grey wardens left post-Ostagar definitely had her mind thinking in terms of “us” instead of her. She had already identified with the Grey Wardens more than she had ever identified with anything else, as they were the people, DUNCAN was the person, who gave her a shot at life and freedom. Of course, this led to the very funny thought of “Soooo do we need to repopulate the grey wardens species by.... you know....( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ” “whyyyyy do you want to? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)?”

Of course, as the two’s friendship went on and developed, with their loyalties as grey wardens being the starter seed, a flower of a relationship blossomed into a happy and hilarious couple (a la april ludgate and andy dwyer from parks and rec)

Zevran #5 (How well did your Warden keep in contact with Zevran after the Blight? Did they ever see him again?)

Solana constantly tried to keep tabs on Zevran after the blight. He was a loyal companion and exciting friend, and though she often met his light attitude with dry and witty comments, she often fed the fuel to his flame so to speak. In that when she saw he was drooping in morale, missing home, or thinking about his past, she was quick to sneak by and leave ANY expensive items that had the word Antiva scrawled in the name or label, with a note that said “ Uhhh I saw this and thought of you, you can have then if you want or whatever” tacked on. She didn’t have the easiest time talking about difficulties, in her own past and others preferring cold humor and an intimate touch to convey her empathy rather than to cry on each other's shoulders. Despite that, Solana did her best because she admired Zevran. In his situation, she imagined she would have broken long, long ago. So that’s why his bag was often stuffed too full with gloves, scarves, and boots, and why messengers always managed to track him down in the highest and lowest corners of Thedas. Because above it all, she believed in Zevran, and she would NOT let him go off and start undoing all that faith.
