[fic: double blind] If there's not too many AU questions yet, the AU from one of the previous asks lives in my head rent free - the one where somehow (magic? probably magic) extremis!Tony and cured!Tony exist at the same time and the former realizes that Peter very much prefers the latter. So if it's ok, question for that extremis!Tony:
So what are you planning to do now, how will you go about "winning Peter back", so to speak? Will you do anything about the non-extremis-enhanced version of yourself? Will you still try to continue with your plans, or will this development cancel them/put them on hold? I'm so incredibly curious xD
I will… have to try to understand him. He doesn't… see the world the same way, and… if he can't accept my plans, in the end-- he has to come first. I… none of this is worth anything without him.
I need him to-- trust me, that I want the best for him, and… if he doesn't want what I'm offering, I'll have to-- give him what he does want instead. I can do that for him. Easily. Easily.
And when I've re-earned his trust we can revisit my plans, and I can make them new with his input-- it will be better that way. It will work. I can make it work.

Claire's "I'm really sorry you feel like that" was a perfect example for why her and Carmy aren't really made for each other, and why I think they shouldn't be together in the show.
Putting the fact that I ship Syd and Carmy aside, the Bear has the characters and the storyline that I can enjoy even if my ship doesn't get together in the end. (But they should)
She's a nice girl. She's probably the nicest person Carmy knows from his childhood. She's a doctor, she has her shit together, and would probably be a likable character if we saw her from a different perspective.
And it's not her fault for not knowing how starting your restaurant works, and for not picking up the fact he shouldn't have this much free time to spend with her.
It's more that Claire, after dating Carmy for a few months, doesn't know that her reaction is the last fucking thing he needs.
He is stuck in a walk-in, on his restaurant's soft launch, freaking out, angry at himself for losing focus and almost fucking everything up. She is not supposed to be there anyway, didn't announce herself in any way, and when she catches him saying things like "I don't deserve to be happy" she doesn't think to tell him to keep calm, or "You deserve happiness", or "We will figure it out".
Tina was softly reassuring him that everything was fine, that he didn't screw anything up, that everything was handled, even though people in that kitchen (Especially Syd and Nat) have the right to be mad at him: for never calling Tony/Ted/Terry to fix that fridge, for being so unfocused that he approved artwork he hates, for not knowing what brand of mustard they switched to, for not answering when asked on what side of the shelves to put the pots and pans on, or ditching on Sydney to help Claire, and then going around Syd and developing recipes with Claire.
It feels like they believed he could be "cured with love". That's why even though Fak, who has known him for so long, who knows him better, and who just witnessed Carmy screaming obscenities from the walk-in is telling her not to go to him, she goes anyway, and makes things worse.
And besides Richie, who likes Claire for Carmy, and who is projecting his own failed marriage to the woman he still loves, everyone else is avoiding making him feel like a bigger shit while he's stuck inside. (Richie still screams I love you at Carmy and hears harmful words thrown back at him)
He fucked up, and everyone knows he fucked up. And he's also paying for his biggest fuck up and is stuck. Cornered. It's like kicking him when he's already down. Opposite of signing "I'm sorry".

A/N: ASH!! HI!! this was so sweet to write, tysm for the request lovie
Tumblr media
The sound of loud coughing startled Tony into consciousness, his heart immediately speeding up. He jumped out of bed, running to your room-prepared to find anything and everything. His panic subsided almost instantly, though. He ran in to find you bent over on your bed, in the middle of an awful-sounding coughing fit. He stepped next to your bed, sending a reassuring smile as he sat down next to you.
“You alright, sweetie?” he asked, softly rubbing your back.
“Yeah, dad,” was what you tried to say, but you ended up coming into another coughing fit before you could say a single word.
“Easy, okay, breathe through it,” he coached, worried lines showing through on his face. Luckily, you were too busy hacking up a horse to notice. He hated you seeing it when he was worried. Even in times like these, he wanted his entire focus to be on you.
The fit steadily got worse, and Tony did his best to get you through it.
“Fri, can you tell Bruce what’s going on? I’m gonna bring her down to the medbay,” was the last thing you heard before everything went black; the stress on your body too much for you to keep up with.
“Oh god,” Tony exclaimed, immediately picking you up in his arms and rushing to the elevator. The ride down to the bay felt like an hour, even though it was only two minutes. When the doors finally opened, Bruce rushed to his side, eyes widening when he realized you weren't conscious.
“What happened?” Bruce asked as you were rushed into a room, him already hooking up your vitals in less than two seconds.
“I-I don’t know. One minute she was coughing a lot and then she just,” he paused to wipe his nose on his sleeve,”passed out.”
"Okay, so I'm not seeing anything serious. It looks like pink eye? She doesn't need to be in the hospital right now, Tones," he assured, smiling when all the tension drained out of his best friend's body.
As soon as Bruce finished talking, your eyes fluttered open, confusion masking your face. Tony reassured you as quickly as he could, and a few minutes later, you were riding down to the garage. He decided he wanted to take you to get some fast food-it was his cure-all for stressful days with you.
As you pulled up to the McDonald's line-"Why are we even here," being said about fifteen times from your dad- you laidd your head on his shoulder, letting your eyes close. Your breathing evened out, but Tony woke you up when you got your food.
"Thanks, dad," you smiled, digging into your food. You still felt like absolute shit, but you hadn't eaten in almost a day thanks to your illness. You could have sworn that was the best burger you'd had in your whole life.

do you have any headcanons for the ggy trio?
Tysm for asking this aughhhh
I'm only gonna go over Greg in relation to the other two because Gregory alone I talk about headcanons for a lot, and he's included in the post about the 3 star fam headcanons. So yeah
I just made a separate post for my sorta headcanons for GGY specifically, which you can find here.
Greg was a really good friend before being glitchtrapped. He was during it, too, but that was Rab playing an act. He's a super sweet kid, despite everything
Greg would give Tony his own pocket money sometimes. "I get a lot of it, and you need it more than me." Tony didn't like to accept it, but Gregory is a persistent person.
Greg would always help Ellis with the arcades he wasn't very good at. "I learned this strat, actually...."
Gregory would get them both snacks and sneak them under the desks in class, the trio eating them when the teacher wasn't watching. This was especially the case if Ellis seemed less hyper in class or Tony was particularly quiet.
Gregory was extremely helpful and kind with Tony when his dad got locked up. He was there for him. Ellis is better at lightening the mood, but Gregory is good at real comfort and supportive words
They're all there for each other. Gregory fights when people pick on his friends, which is rare-ish-- they don't really get bullied-- but it still happens, and Greg gets hurt. He gets anxious. But then Ellis and Tony are there. Tony's awful attempts at comfort make Gregory laugh, while Ellis is naturally good at making people smile
The trio balances each other out perfectly, and it makes things easier in school! Sometimes, Tony needs to lighten up and see the bigger picture. Sometimes, Gregory needs to relax and take things slower. Sometimes, Ellis needs to be brought back to earth a little.
Ellis has a pretty normal life. He doesn't have any particular bad shit going on, only the losing his two besties thing in the case of canon. His home life is okay, though; he has a caring mother and a little sister he enjoys taking care of, despite her attitude sometimes-- It's small, and it's nice. His dad is usually away at work, but he finds time for his family.
Ellis has as much monty merch as he can possibly get, but he insists on winning it himself at the Plex instead of just finding it on amazon or whatever.
Tony's secret opinion on Ellis would be so heartbreaking for him. Ellis would be devastated to find Tony doesn't like his silly side. It'd drive him away, "Wow, man. Okay. I'll find new friends, you can have Greg all to yourself. Enjoy it."
If Gregory knew about it, he would side with Ellis. He'd be angry, but also try to help Tony loosen up. "Hey, you don't have to be super mature yet. You're so young. Trust me, you should enjoy being a kid before you force yourself to grow up. Being forced into growing up sucks, I promise." Tony would hate the fact that it sounds like he's talking from experience.
Tony loves music! His dad liked music, and he could play guitar, so Tony likes music and wants to learn to play. He also wants to learn piano. He learned like 2 meme songs on piano to impress people in music class and almost got detention (tryhard)
Tony listens to music mainly at the moment. He wants to learn to write songs. He doesn't wanna be a songwriter-- He's still set on investigative journalism. It's just a hobby
He'd write lemon demon type shit mixed with like uhhh. Idk. Less silly, more serious stuff. Imagine Cabinet Man, but it's about an arcade controlling a person, and it's slower and more ominous sounding (the GGY song)
He listens to songs his dad likes, often. Reminds him of him. He misses him every day, and it's a way of escaping. He usually listens to music late at night, and he thinks... just thinks.
Gregory is the one who got Tony into cheesy 80s music instead of mf. The Clash and The Cure, which his dad likes. "Should I stay or should I.... Nah. Listen to this." He hands the phone back and it's playing Material Girl
Speaking of, Gregory loves 80s music! Ellis loves hard rock and punk music. They really do reflect their glamrock faves in terms of favourite music genre!
They'd have a collab playlist that they can all add music to, and Gregory always quietly adds things he thinks are funny. Tony got 'How Bad Can I Be' blasting in his ears one day and turned to see Gregory and Ellis giggling away nearby.
Gregory adds real songs. Some really good ones. But then he also adds it's raining tacos 60 times. They played it on a speaker once, and when it's raining tacos started playing, Gregory turned it up so it blasted through the cafeteria. All 3 of them got detention
The trio definitely snuck into a show at the Pizzaplex. Yeah, two of them can afford it, but what's the fun in paying? And it's from there that Tony was obsessed with Bonnie. It's the one thing at the Plex he can't pretend he doesn't find childish
Tony has been trying to forget it. He's too old for all that. But he just loves the characters despite everything. He'd start going into how he can like the glamrocks because he researched glam rock, while Gregory and Ellis don't really care-- "Yeah I looked into Glam Rock. It's like. A part of queer history. It's important haha. and I can look into its influence. Okay? It's normal and fine and mature." And they're just like "??? Okay???"
Greg's favourite is Freddy, Tony's is Bonnie, and the duo are super close. Ellis isn't stupid. He definitely thought they were gonna end up together or something; even if they weren't gonna end up like that or anything, Ellis is a huge tease
They all tried cooking once! Tried. Tony isn't a bad cook at 14, but he's an awful, terrible cook at 12. Ellis can't cook at all, and Gregory can only bake (at age 12, also badly).
No matter what they're making, Ellis manages to make slime every time. His favourite to cook is spaghetti and the pasta is always mushy, the sauce always thick as hell with not enough meat... It's slime. Tastes nice, with the worst texture of all time. Despite that, the boys like it anyway. When Tony's sad Ellis is like right. Dude. I'm making you my slimy spaghetti surprise rn
Greg would bake them all cookies at the weekends they work on school projects! They're usually slightly too hard or too soft, but they taste okay.
Ellis helped one time and the cookies became slime. "Oh my God Greg. Who made these, Ellis?" "Uhmmmm excuse me you're doubting the master chef of the three musketeers?" "He helped."
Greg got extremely, scarily good at baking that one September before he and Tony went missing (Afton/the Mimic can really cook apparently!)
The trio has a Minecraft server, owned by Gregory. Tony builds actual houses and stores, Ellis builds really huge complex things like farms and redstone contraptions + traps, and Gregory builds sometimes like Tony, but is shockingly good at it. He builds megabases. But he also starts a million things he never finishes, accidentally breaks things, causes chaos (usually along with Ellis), buries Tony or moves him while he's AFK, and /kills everything.
Ellis and Gregory built a dangerous labyrinth, and Greg teleported Tony to the centre of it. He's in spectator mode with Ellis, watching Tony struggle and constantly respawn in the maze while he complains. "MF GIVE BACK MY CREATIVE PERMS???" "Seek the exit, and your desires will be met." (leaves vc)
If Tony ever gets genuinely annoyed by their antics, Greg usually builds him something as an apology because he feels really bad about it.
And uhh that's all for now! I could probably come up with more eventually, but these ones have been on my mind abkshduhdjd
Thanks for the ask!

SteveTony Weekly - December 10th
Tumblr media
Here’s a very short list because it’s been a very busy week. Enjoy and be sure to leave your author comment and kudos.
Triple-A Rated by iam93percentstardust
Three assassination attempts in two weeks. That's gotta be some kind of record. Three attempts - and that doesn't even count the Ten Rings. Tony's pretty sure that Stane's trying to kill him again. Fury's pretty sure of the same thing, which is why he starts sending agents to protect him. It's just that Tony doesn't like any of his new bodyguards - except one.
Do-Over by gottalovev
Steve woke up six months ago into a future that leaves him indifferent. There is work, and not much else. His current mission is a basic search and rescue operation to retrieve an American who was kidnapped by a terrorist group ten days ago. He won't let the fact that the hostage is Howard's son be a distraction.
From The Ground Up by thatsweetmysteryoflife
The first time Steve had seen Tony Stark since SHIELD had fallen, he was on TV.
Or, how a team became a family, and friendship became love.
Unsaid words by Herogers
And he was moving on.. well, he was getting on with it. It was fine, really.
Well, at least he felt fine, until he saw Tony for the first time in years and the words felt like they were scraping their way up from his chest, begging to be let out.. He was fine. This is work, this is for something more than him, more than both of them. So if the sight of those honey brown eyes piercing through his blues were almost nauseating.. It had to be fine.
Zero to One by magicasen
Steve returns the Stones, comes back to 2023, names Sam the successor to Captain America, and sets off on his bike. Life is transient, and grief is all-encompassing, until Steve starts dreaming of Tony every night.
Truths and Roses Have Thorns About Them by FestiveFerret
Steve has a secret. And then he makes a poorly-timed joke to a reporter, and suddenly he has two secrets.
One: He's in love with his best friend.
Two: Despite what the press thinks, they're not actually dating.
and you think love is to pray by StevieVixxen
It’s a betrayal that cuts deep…
Soft Skills by Lady_Ganesh
"So," Bruce said carefully. "You're saying that your tower became a big target for an alien army, so you're going to rebuild it as an even bigger target?"
"Well, when you put it like that, it sounds stupid," Tony said.
The team tries to bring Steve Rogers into the 21st Century. It mostly works.
As my beta CaptainBlue said: Also I love how you did a fic about Avengers team building and still managed to make it 100% about Cap. You have a gift. This is why I love her. Any remaining mistakes are mine.
Think Again by KandiSheek
Tony doesn't understand why Steve always makes him run laps or do push-ups before sex. Steve doesn't know why Tony doesn't like his kind of foreplay. After all, everyone gets turned on by exercise. Right?
Cat's in the Cradle by Last_Chance_Anna
Steve starts thinking about his father and the affect he had on his life. Tony is there to offer support and comfort.
Santa Claus is Coming to Town by Last_Chance_Anna
Steve and Tony throw a Christmas party, and Steve rediscovers his jealous streak when it comes to Tony. Luckily Tony knows the cure for that. Spoiler alert: It's sex.
Not a Perfect Man by Neverever
Steve and Tony are back on track as friends and spending a lot of time together as they form a new Avengers team. But Steve is again in a rocky relationship with Sharon and Tony is dating a new woman. Steve struggles as his long-dormant crush on Tony comes back with a vengeance because he's supposed to be a good man and he doesn't want to lose Tony as a friend. What is he supposed to do as a friend when Tony's new girlfriend turns out to be not good for Tony?
Running out of Time by Lenalena
Prompt: "After the events of IM 1, Tony joins the expedition searching for Captain America as a holiday to get away from all the media speculation and stock value crash hate he was getting from the board. He's testing out new kit, working up a new portfolio of technology to boost the company back up, when he finds a plane wreck, buried halfway under the Greenland ice sheet."
That is how he ends up hiding Captain America in plain sight, while the man gets adjusted to the 21st century. He is just doing him a favor, okay?
What could possibly go wrong?

Clean/is it over now?
This whole story was basically inspired by clean, is it over now, now that we don’t talk, wonderland, style, basically the whole 1989 album, all too well 10 version, and illicit affairs
Can you tell I love Taylor Swift? 🤭
Nomad grey! Soft dark! Steve rogers x reader. Cheating!!!! Angst!!!! Depressed reader, tony dying. The time line if messed up do t do the math I already tried lol. Reader is Tony Starks, daughter, but race or looks are not described.
Seeing his blue eyes in the forefront of your mind was haunting. you couldn’t get clean off of him His whispers had changed every muscle in your body to love him and only him. Was it over when she laid down on your couch was it over when he unbuttoned your blouse? Was it over then and is it over now? The question you asked every night, or when you walked in every room that held the blondes with love eyes. Your scorned young body, a solider returning half her weight, the blue muse hidden from view hurting from seeing the flashing lights as he showcased her to all.
Steve Rogers was your first lover, only 18, and somehow the family friend since your early teen years was gone and replaced with a man of love and stolen kisses. His hands fire, his lips held unfished unspoken ‘I love yous’. If your love is over, why do you wait? Why do you hide in your hidden places he took you so no one could hear your sweet nothing relationship and moans. Why are you still writing pages about a love story that has ended?
You remember the tension in the last years before the full out. His smile on your 18th birthday, him slow dancing with you, everyone at the party drunk or too blinded by the American dream to notice he was more then a family friend or uncle Steve, your father's co-worker and avenger. Blushing in arms, your teenage heart bursting in shy looks away from the man holding your waist. Then by next celebration, Only ever held hands with a boy and suddenly a lover, what an unexpected transition for an 19 year old girl. Never knowing how love worked nor how cruel his could be.
Now 25 never had another lover, the habit for you never left, still lost in wonderland though he was lost in anothers. Trying to find a cure, to bring dust to people, standing in a room with the rest of (what's left of) the Avengers brings acid up your throat. The secret too big to share with your father and how his old best friend broke your heart, it ate you alive for lying, dying. Dying feeling like the world's worst daughter, watching him sacrifice himself while whispering to you how much he loved you was the ground falling underneath what made your sky.
Steve picking your crumpled body off the ground crying at your father's asleep feet to forgive you for your secrets. Sobbing into the man you loved and hated, hated for leaving you scared and confused during the civil war. You sat at home heartbroken praying he was okay and that he would just sign the damn papers, that your father didn't kill him, while he made out with Sharon Carter. Pounding on his chest screaming at him to let you go, you struggled in his arms while he tried to calm you down.
You yelling at him that it was all his fault, only the two of you knowing what you meant.
After that you didn't talk to him, what was really left of the Avengers lives in the compound and so does Steve's new finance, the younger blonde, who giggles like you did, he’s not afraid to tell people he loves her. The pain mixed in with love unrequited.
Tumblr media
A mission in the tall mountains was the reopening of the love affair, you think of jumping off every tall somethings just to see if he comes running, but no.
“I’ve missed you” he spoke to you leaning on the kitchen island, you sitting at the dinner table eating soup, you ignored him. “y/n”
“Let's leave the past where it belongs,” you said
“Babygirl please” Steve pushed himself off the counter, pulling your chair away from the table, now squatting in front of you. His hands holding yours.
“You’re engaged, we shouldn’t requel our relationship now, and I can't even look at you without wanting you” you admitted softly to him looking down at your lap where your hands and his lay.
“I still love you y/n, and I know I left. I know I should have come back to you baby. I’m a sick man but your my love baby and I can't see you love me everyday while I pretend she's you.”
“No, do you think I didn't see you, there was flashing lights at least I had the decency to keep my nights out of sight, were we over when you kissed Sharon? You try and find something better in every girl's bed-.”
Steve kissed you deeply cutting you off, his hands moved to your shoulders pulling you closer. You kissed him back, the feeling different from the innocent love, that the devil he was truly letting himself mask in it.
His arms wrapped around your waist, and your legs wrapped around his. He took you to bed, naked bodies meeting again. His thrusts drove moans out of you like no other.
“You're still my baby, c'mon I’m still your Stevie” his words kissed your skin. “Say it, say you're still mine, I’m still your daddy” he demanded his thrusts becoming harder.
“I-i love you Daddy” you squeaked out Steve smiling at your words knowing he still had you after all these years.
“Don't you ever take away my baby again. You’re my baby.” after his words, you moaned loudly your face buried in between his neck and shoulder. Cumming full force.
“That's it babygirl, cum for me.”
Steve and you laid down still naked in each other's arms, feeling his warmth.
“We’re staying here, I'm not going back to her,” he spoke sternly
“What?” you replied back, pulling away so you could see his face.
“We’re stayin’ here, we’re gonna build a family and I’m not letting you out of my sight again baby. You’re mine. I love you” Steve said still stern but with a dark look in his eyes.
“I’ve watched you hurt and be alone far too long, I've saved the world for you, killed for you, wanted you… Say it back y/n”
“I-i love you, Stevie”
10 months older, a baby five months in. You can't quit, you can't say you got clean. 10 months older now he can admit there was no mission just a trick to get you back.

okay for the character ask game I couldn’t decide on characters or numbers, so I just threw some random characters and numbers together, and you can decide which apply the most to what character. Whatever you like!
SQ, Jeffers, Garrison, Nicholas, Kate, and Rhonda
1, 2, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 13, 15, 16, 18, 20
What do you like or dislike about this character?
SQ - in the show, I like his introspection and that they fleshed him out to not just be Curtain's adopted son who loves art and is under his control (in both a good and bad way). My only issue is that he's not in season 2, we were robbed!! As for the books, I like that what starts out as comic relief ends up being a horrifying realization that this poor teenager is brainswept so much that he can't remember what he's saying. What I dislike is that we never get to see him grow beyond that. Yes, we see him choose kindness (which is great btw) over Curtain, but I wish we had actually gotten to see him in Riddle of Ages besides a quick mention.
Jeffers - I love that he gets to be goofy. Sure the Ten Men in the books were scary, but they let him just be whacky! And why not? I love characters that get to goof around and be silly, especially if they're not supposed to. Plus, you can tell the actor playing him is having a blast and that's how you know a character is well-done. I just wish he had been in season 1, but I'm glad you put him in S.O.S. so I can enjoy him there, Bods!
Garrison - I like that this character exists, first of all. I know book Curtain is the type to want to keep the science secrets to himself, but show Curtain needs a science person to delegate Whisperer stuff to. After all, when would he have time to do this?
Tumblr media
(did I want an excuse to put this GIF in again? Yes, yes I did. It was too funny to resist.)
But seriously, I also love that while she does bend to Curtain, she does try to stand up to him in her own way. There's a complicated dynamic there (made more complicated by reading @nobodysdaydreams S.O.S. AU fanfic, which you should read if you haven't yet because OH BOY does it change things about Garrison for you) and it's so interesting to analyze. Also, she's just a little bit quirky and I love her for that.
Nicholas - in the show, I love that they gave him issues!!!! They made him anxious and the way Tony Hale makes his posture more stooped is *chef's kiss* lovely. His "excuse me - *cut to loud screaming montage*" is TOO RELATABLE. I think they were so right for that. Also, making him more directly responsible for Curtain's downfall was a great choice (though I don't actually blame him because he was a literal child it wasn't his fault; if anything, I blame the adoptive parents for separating twins and just not coming back for the other that's so messed up??? Who does that?????). The only thing I dislike was that they basically cut down his narcoleptic attacks to nearly nothing by the second season, almost like they didn't exist. Like, y'all, come on, don't do that!
As for the books, I love his wisdom, compassion and how he always makes time for the children. He always seems to know what they're thinking and is able to encourage them in their darkest hour. Although, I have a love/hate relationship with how they cured his narcolepsy in TPD because on one hand, I hate the "curing disability narrative", but on the other he actively hated it and wanted it gone (plus he had to suppress his emotions so much because of it) that I can't really blame him for wanting it gone...hard to know how to feel on that one!
Kate - KATE MY BELOVED!!! Again, I love everything about her. For show Kate, I love how fast-paced she is. It always makes me laugh when she says something like, "Tower. Scale it. Now!!!" It's so funny to me. Emmy did an amazing job bringing that aspect to life. Show Kate is also rougher around the edges -- I don't hate it because it's more realistic...it's just sad. :(
As for book Kate, I like that she brute forces her way to solutions. Oh she doesn't understand this maze? Guess she's running through the vents. I always admired her agility (and wished I could be that cool!!). I also like that she had to grapple with the dark urge of violence because it makes sense, she's the muscle of the team, why shouldn't she end the bad guys once and for all? A dark theme, sure, but I'm glad TLS didn't hold back on it.
Rhonda - Show Rhonda is so cool because she's so good at mediating within the group and I love that she also tries to fight in her own way against Curtain outside of their work with the society. We love to see some small acts of activism!!! No notes, amazing character.
For book Rhonda, I love how caring she is. She just always finds a way to show the group in big and small ways that she cares about them. I feel like if anyone is neurotypical in that group, it's her, and for once I mean that in a good way (let's be real, someone probably needs to be to remember things and help with social cues) /j. I wish we got to see more of her!
2. Favorite canon thing about this character?
Nicholas - in the books, that he learned ASL for Violet in his prequel book! I took 3 ASL classes and while it shouldn't be a big deal for a hearing person to learn sign language for a Deaf person, many times they won't. I love that he automatically accommodated her needs, rather than trying to make her accommodate him. As for the show, the screaming scene comes to mind, but I like that he reads aloud to his friends, I think it's sweet :)
5. What's the first song that comes to mind when you think about them?
Garrison - Giants by Imagine Dragons
Soooo again I had to manually pick this song since I don't really think of MBS characters + music together (which is weird of my brain to do, but whatever!). The reason I picked this song is because it's about addiction and someone reflecting on what they've become because of it. I think it especially applies to your S.O.S headcanon of Garrison and how she is in season 2. Wish I had a happier answer. :(
7. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you like?
Jeffers - that y'all gaslit me into thinking his name was Jeepers (s/o to @mvshortcut for reassuring me I was right) and that we have Secure the Perimeter Saturday. I think it's beautiful. 😍 ❤️
8. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise?
Rhonda - I haven't seen anything I truly despise, but it definitely irks me when she gets forgotten (or whitewashed, I was worried the show was going to do that). She's such an interesting character and deserves to be included as much as possible!!!!!! Again, it's nothing I've actually seen, but if I had to pick.
9. Could you be roommates with this character?
Rhonda - yes, I think so! She'd get the worst end of the bargain dealing with my eccentricities, but I honestly think we could make it work. I'd do my best to try to make things easier for her living with me lol.
13. What's an emoji, an emoticon and/or any symbol that reminds you of this character or you think the character would use a lot?
Kate - 🪣 ...sorry, I had to!
15. What's your favorite ship for this character? (Doesn't matter if it's canon or not.)
Kate x Reynie - Sorry not sorry, I've always been a Kaynie girlie!!!! I enjoy that TMBS didn't dive into romance at all because it's good to get a break from that. Unfortunately, I'm a hopeless romantic and, at least in the books, I saw potential for something to grow when they got older (like when Reynie gets electrocuted by Curtain in TPD and Kate holds his hand while crying...that scene BROKE ME 😭 😭 😭 ).
16. What's your least favorite ship for this character?
Garrison x Curtain - idk if anyone actually ships this (I haven't seen it, I'm just adding it to the mix for consideration), but the thought of this makes me want to barf. Just....nah.
18. How about a relationship they have in canon with another character that you admire?
Nicholas - I've always admired his relationship with Milligan. If you're able to gain the loyalty and friendship of someone who's lost all of their memories, you're doing something right. :) I know Nicholas is always going to feel responsible for Curtain's misdeeds, and by extension, Milligan's memory loss (in both the books and show since Curtain is his brother and Nicholas is too much of an empath to not feel some kind of guilt), but I truly admire how he treats Milligan as someone to be taken seriously and who he wants to help.
20. Which other character is the ideal best friend for this character, the amount of screentime they share doesn't matter?
Jeffers - I don't know if this crossover is allowed, but can you imagine if Moocho Brazos and Jeffers became friends outside of Curtain's influence? I don't know, I just feel like they would be besties and potentially great together in a fight. Moocho would totally break out some cool helicopter fighting moves and Jeffers would do...something?
I hope you enjoy these answers. This was super fun, Bods!!

Morning Glory
This is more of a welcome back into the world of writing fanfics since I haven't written anything since high-school and what better way to kick it off with my current obsession then Trigun! I'm sorry it took me so long I was trying to figure out how I wanted the story to go but I think I got it now.
So standard rating would T nothing to gory and no beta readers so if you some mistakes please excuse them but I welcome any critiques you may have for me.
Enjoy what I have written, and I hope to do this fandom, proud!

Hanahaki Disease,
A rare disease where one is in unrequited or even one-sided love that leaves its victim to cough or vomit flower petals mixed with their own blood. In most extreme cases left untreated can lead to a flowering plant growing in the lungs,stomach or heart in which case the disease then turns fatal with then having to vomit or choking fully bloomed flowers and slowly succumbing to the lack of oxygen and blood. The only known cure is to undergo a surgery to remove said flower from the host but no record has shown a case where the patient has recovered unless they do another more high risk operation on the brain to remove part of the limbic system. More studies show that people who undergo brain surgery have a ninety-nine percent rate of recovery and no return of the flowers but have a difficult time to process emotions or even become shells of their former selves. Other studies of this disease have shown zero chance of survival due to the type of plant that can take residence in the victim's body which can shut down its host's body four times faster than normal, meaning the average lifespan with this disease cuts down to a year to a few months while other victims have years ahead.
Year 3xxx
It's been almost one hundred and fifty years since the seed project crashed on this planet,
Fifty years since the discovery of the strange plant disease that riddles the lonely and the daydreamers, twenty years since the discovery of a so-called “cure” for it, and three days since I too have fallen victim to the hanahaki disease.
I thought everything was fine, everything was fine if I just kept my distance from the infamous outlaw, but just like the sun I was always drawn back to his warmth. We met a few years before the Jenerora Rock incident, when I was waiting tables at Rosa’s diner just hiding out from bounty hunters when this unusual man in a long red coat and pointed gold hair walks in. All he asked for is a simple drink, nothing fancy but then one drink turned into one more, and then three more, and so on, honestly if Rosa hadn’t cut him off when she did he would have ended up passed out on the diner floor with her husband. He hadn’t paid for a room and it looked like he wasn’t sober enough to ask for one yet but with the town inn being so far away it didn’t look like he would make it that far in the state he was in anyway. Really what could have been so bad that someone would neglect to get shelter to instead come get their ass blackout drunk?
I really should have minded my own business but with Rosa having her own troubles with her sorry ass husband and Tonis what else could she do with the stranger who seemed to be dead to the world already, apparently drag him to the upstairs apartment that resides above said diner that I'm currently renting, bless you Rosa. With a bit, well with a lot of struggle i managed to drag the idiot up the stairs and not so carefully put him on the bed, really this man who appeared to not weigh much was much heavier than i expected and his staggering height was a struggle i didn’t account for when i decided to be a kind civilian for once. Really, one glance at this man and my natural caregiver instincts kicked in and I hated it, it wasn’t me, not anymore i thought. I went to turn to leave but his shaky voice startled me causing me to freeze, it wasn’t a question that left his lips but a small broken thank you, i hesitantly turned back to look at the poor sap but he had already fallen asleep with small snores leaving his mouth. Thinking back on it i wasn’t sure why i helped him removed his boots or even covered him up with the nicest blanket i could fine but meeting him that day had set everything in motion, I would begin to start falling for the fading sun: star boy, i would call him but to the rest of Gunsmoke he will forever be known as the humanoid typhoon: Vash The Stampede, and to my unsuspecting self I would soon learn why he was given the nickname.
The morning I woke from my spot on the tiny loveseat to find him nowhere in sight, nothing that showed that he had been here the night before unless you count a neatly made bed. I assumed he had just got up and left town but no, I walked down to see the very sunny man talking and laughing with Rosa as he helped clean the diner with the help of her husband who looked like he saw better mornings. Confused was most likely an understatement given the situation, why was he still here, why was he helping a stranger with a kind smile plastered on his face? Questions that I hadn’t had a chance to ask as I was rushed out the door to help unload the supply truck by other waitresses leaving behind a stuttering mess of heys and wait by the blonde man who looked a little shocked to see me as well. As soon as we were outside I was bombarded with who he was, was he available, and was he a “good time”, shameless the lot of these people! As much to my horror he decided to follow us out back and without a hint of decency he played along with they're crude jokes!
“Well ladies i must say i would never kiss and tell but she was absolutely rude in the bedroom! She was so rough in the bedroom, she even threw me on the mattress!” He said dramatically holding his arm over his face, crocodile tears threatening to leave his eyes but that cheshire grin he had given it all away that it was a horrible joke.
“My my i would never have thought our sweet little y/n was into that sort of thing! So scandalous I tell you!” One of the ladies said as she pretend to faint into my arms
“I have a half mind to drop you, you know and that isn’t what happened last night.” I said sternly glaring at the looming giant who seemed to have a grand of a time laughing with the rest of them as his aviator glasses slid down his face revealing his baby blue eyes and long lashes as he glanced my way.
‘Damn him, he really was beautiful.’ I thought as I pushed the woman back up and went to the truck to pick up one of the many boxes.
“No it's true I heard the loud thump of the bed myself last night.” I heard Rosa tell them and it took everything in me not to drop the heavy crate on the ground.
“ROSA!” I yelled mortified as the rest of them held onto their stomachs from laughing so hard while ‘pretty boy’ fell down laughing.
I can feel my face getting warm while I walked away from the humiliation.
“Names Vash by the way!” He yells after me as I plopped the crate down at the bar.
He rushes to stand in my way with a shining smile that could put the suns to shame.
“I don’t believe I caught your name yet.” Lier.
“And i believe you just heard it from my friend there so excuse me.” I say as I tried to go under him. Again he follows me. Cute.
“But I would much rather you tell me yourself, beautiful.” He says smoothly.
If god was real then i'm sure the devil is as well because no one should be that handsome and lame but cute at the same time. He’s a temptress, I'm sure of it.
“Does flirting come naturally to you or am I a special case?” I say as I give into whatever game this is, leaning against the door frame with a huff.
“It depends really, is it working?”  I can see the little glint of mischief in his eyes with his smile turning genuine.
“No, but I'll give you credit for trying. Names y/n.” I finally say with a small grin.
The next few weeks were filled with such an odd sense of peace that I almost forgot we were human, but there is no such thing as peace when humans are involved.
I was out back on break when it happened, playing with Tonis and one of the worms he had found when the loud shouting laughter of kids could be heard and a not so kind shriek of what I could guess was a blonde idiot. He was tackled down and hogtied by the local kids in a game of catch the outlaw, really such a fitting game if you think about it. Kids piled on top of him while he tried to wiggle his way out from under them but the joyous laughter of the kids caused him to laugh a little too and slumped.
‘So he was good looking, great with kids and a decent person.’ The more I looked at him the more I wondered who he really was. With a teasing smile I got up from the small porch taking Tonis with me over to shoo the youngins away but the small child had other ideas as he broke free from grasp and jumped on Vash as well leaving the stranger with no more fight in him as he laid flat on the sand and his glasses laid barren beside him.
“Need a hand there, stranger? It looks like you're about to start seeing stars here in a minute.”  Laughing as I crouched down to his level picking up his glasses and using them to push back my y/h/c hair back.
“No, no! Everything’s fine, I just need a minute to regain my strength. It will probably come back faster if someone were to say "I don't know, bless me by going on a date with me, tonight maybe?” He shoots me another charming smile. I swore I could see little stars and sparkles around him as he offered his best attempt at a smolder.
‘This little shit.’
“You know what, you look fine here on the ground so i'm just gonna go but thanks for the new glasses star boy, i think they look good on me.”  I quickly tried to walk away hoping the way my heart skipped a beat was just a weird fluke when I heard a rush of waits being directed at me. I turned around annoyed to see him clumsy jogging over to me, red staining his cheeks and the tips of his ears from the heat I assumed.
“I’m sorry about making a pass at you but can I make it up to you with a drink? No funny business, I promise just a casual drink as a thank you for the other day?” The shy smile he gives me nearly puts me in an early grave.
“All right, one drink, just one pretty boy then we call it even deal?” I offered him back his glasses as a sign of good fate but he freezes.
‘What?’
“Pretty?” Oh no, no I didn't!
“You think I'm pretty?” God kill me now as the damn smile he wore now was blinding me. The next thing I knew Vash pulled me down as a random bullet shot passed us and hit a window.
‘TOO SOON GOD!’
Gunshots rang throughout the city, people scurrying into their homes and children ran to hide in alleyways with the critters, the smell of gunpowder and blood soaked the air. I dropped Vash’s glasses to run and grab Tonis and pulled him into the diner with Rosa who was already loading up her gun. I left him with Rosa’s husband as we ran back outside to see what was happening and nothing could have prepared me for how fast my blood drained at the sight. People were injured, some dead, and a few with life threatening wounds but in the middle of all that was enough for me to turn to stone.
Bounty hunters.
A large gang of bounty hunters have held up my wanted poster and the leader threatened to shoot up the town and plant if I wasn't handed over in the next five minutes. I turned over to Rosa to explain myself but I had a gun pointed to my head before I could let out a sound, the anger on her face says it all, because I have seen and heard it all before.
‘How can I bring them here? Why did you endanger all of us? Think of the lives you are putting at risk!’ I’ve heard it many times before but I could never give them an answer that was satisfying, because really all I wanted was a place to call home too. It wasn’t fair that everyone had a place to call home, someplace safe and warm, instead I was cursed to wander around these damn dunes with nothing more than an old hand me down gun and a forgotten name.
“Take me to the leader Rosa, I won't put up a fight I promise.” I said holding back my tears and stretching out my hands to be tied, I don't deserve to cry, not after running for so long and almost killing what could be considered friends again. I deserved this I thought as she tied me up and dragged me to them showing no remorse for me, just a grim frown. I was then thrown to the leaders feet and the last thing i saw was the hilt of his weapon hitting me and the sounds of gunshots being fired. A small panicked hold on was the last thing I really heard but I will never believe it was real.
A day, a full twenty four hours I was out and in that time Vash had stopped the gang from dragging me off but not before they damaged one of the plants but by some god forsaken miracle he managed to save that too. While I was grateful he saved me, I needed to leave, and I needed to leave now while the diner was bustling with people probably celebrating the hero. I no longer had a home and no friends, so I packed the necessities and managed to slip out into the apartment alleyway. I didn’t bother to leave a note because really who will miss the bitch who brought a dangerous gang here and almost destroyed the town. As I grabbed a Thomas I saw the so-called hero as he stood in my way with both arms outstretched to halt my steed, head slightly down and a certain emotion was hidden behind his tinted glasses, what it was I would probably never know for sure.
“Out of the way, Vash, I'm not in a playful mood tonight.” I say as I pulled my double action revolver out of its holster and pointed it straight at him, turning the safety off.
Instead of moving away like i warned him too he moved closer to me arms still up in the air as a silent promise he won’t draw.
Like that means shit to me right now.
“Vash, I'm serious! Take one more step and this bullet goes straight through your head!”  I yelled, clicking the trigger into place. Again he moves closer, barely five feet away as I shoot a warning next to his head just barely missing a hair.
“Next time I won’t miss.” I tell him but my hand is shaking and he sees it.
He gently lowers my arm down and grabs my now useless gun to place on the ground all without breaking eye contact with me.
“I won’t stop you from leaving and I won't follow you out but, i still expect that drink you owe me in the future y/n.” The sad smile he wore never failed to make me feel guilty but I couldn't stay one more night for a drink and I didn't want to make empty promises to the same broken vagabond as me.
“Vash i can’t promise you i will be alive the next time you see me.” I shook off his hand as I stared up at the sky just to keep from looking into his eyes. I wondered if the stars could ever be trapped by a mere human because everytime i would look into his eyes I would catch a tiny glimpse of the vast space. So full of wonder and awe but oh so cold and lonely, an endless cycle of new life and death.
“Then I'll make a promise to you then, a promise to see my new friend alive and well again.” He then hands me my gun back as vow that if I take it I have honored the promise he made.
‘I want to be selfish, please just this once, let me keep this promise’
“All right, I’ll see you around then starboy.”
That was the first time I felt the pain in my chest.
That was two years ago and I became a gun for hire myself, so imagine my utter surprise when I ran into this idiot again at a bar shoot out when he so casually saves us by using the broken metal sign to shield us from the massive wave of gunshots. Lucky basterd.
“Well nice to see you again y/n! While I wished it was under better circumstances I do believe it's best for us to start running.”  He grabbed my hand and we hauled ass out of there because someone didn’t bother to check if he had bullets, and neither did i. It seems like nothing changes when sharing a city with Vash the Stampede, except my ability to check my own supplies.
We managed to defeat the two bounty hunters by Vash cleverly using the giant one's weapon against himself while I distracted the other one long enough for him to get hit with it as well. I hate to think it but we made a good team. Although his sillness gets the better of him he’s actually very smart if not too passive about how to win a gunfight, i still wonder about this man.
During the fight we met two insurance girls named Meryl and Millie who are on the lookout for the “real” Vash to keep him under surveillance for a whole twenty four hours. I didn’t have the heart to tell them that the man they were looking for was the poor sap next to me and not a gruesome, womanizing monster, he’s a flirt for sure but hardly a womanizer. We parted not long after but the way Vash’s eyes kept tailing that woman, Meryl, had me guessing this wasn’t the first time he’s seen her. His gaze was too soft and somber to have for a first time meeting.
‘The pain is back, fuck.’
“So you gonna tell me how you know her or do you want to play the fool all night?” Turning to him once again, a sad smile was plastered on his face as he watched her go.
‘It hurts, it hurts a lot’
“I don’t know what you're talking about.”
“Vash, I've been around for a while and I've seen more than a hundred people with the same look on their face. You know her, you're in love with her.”
“I would appreciate it if you just let it go, please.” The way his fist clenched and jaw tightened told me enough that it was painful but nothing else.
‘I’m overstepping again’
“Okay.”
Bitter, I was bitter and for what reason I couldn't tell you back then. I don’t know why I thought it was a good idea to bring it up when we weren’t friends and we didn’t know much about each other either, but I craved painful answers. I desperately wanted the missing knowledge that had him so wind up but i have to let it go.
‘My lungs feel like they’re on fire.’
He started to walk away and all i could do was stand there, i didn’t dare reach out to him again. Walking back to town slowly as I followed him from a distance, giving him the space I owed him but then stopped as I stared up at the night sky. It was terribly stunning as I witnessed a rare meteor shower above us leaving me breathless for the first time in years. The glowing worms seemed to take interest as well as they filled the sky next to the shower. I never realized Vash had stopped walking as well until I heard him clear his throat trying to gain my attention tilting his head towards the small run down town.
“I know the bar is destroyed but did you want to find someplace else to grab that drink I still owe you?”
“It's been two years since we made that promise, I'm surprised you even remembered.”
“I have a very good memory. Is that a yes?”
“It's not a no but lets see if we can find a place first. Yeah?” I tell him as we walk in sync towards the town with the little bit of pain in my chest hurting a bit less but the ache is still there. Then the coughing started.
“That’s quite a cough you got there, you okay?”
“Yeah i’m fine it must because its cold out now, you know.” I tell him trying to ease his worries and to convince myself I was fine.
"Weird, I hope I'm not getting sick.’
“Well if you ever need a handsome guy to nurse you back to health i’ll gladly do it, Flower!”
"Flower? Why?" I managed to choke out and resist the urge to fan myself.
"Well you remind me of the pretty flowers in old books, but I guess flower sounds weird. How about petal?"
'Why must God punish me this way!'
"Well if I call you star boy it's only fair. I suppose you can give me a nickname as well." Be still thy beating heart comes to mind as i gently grasped my shirt over my aching organ.
"Moon flower it is then. To match mine.”
‘Oh how fitting.’
We spent the next hour going back and forth between diners and shops but nothing. No booze or homemade alcohol in sight but it was okay because after a while we stopped looking and just enjoyed each other's company for the evening. We settled for dinner now with another promise of that drink. I will always think back to that little time we spent together fondly as we departed a few days later.
I wouldn’t see him again for a couple of months this time around but when I did, it was with the insurance girls again and some man carrying a very large cross. The ominous feeling never went away and neither was the horrorbile envy I had towards Meryl. She was stunning,brave,kind, and had such a righteousness to her that when compared to me it was- pathetic. She was someone who deserved to be by Vash’s side, who would fight to stay by his side even if she says it's purely for work but I think that lie was to keep her heart off her sleeve for a while longer.
I kept an eye on the way Vash’s eyes trail after her, wherever she was Vash was never far behind where it would be by her side or hiding from plain sight after a mild scolding from her. I hate her but admire her the same.
During our time apart my chest pain worsened, the coughing fits grew bloody and my body was slowly being overcome with yellowish veins that stretched from my heart to my lower abdomen. It could be easily covered by my clothes but the bloody cough was what gave me away the night of the quick draw contest. The priest was the one to find me hunched over a desk as we both watched in horror as white petals were mixed with large blood clots.
‘No. Please no.’ I could cry, scream my decaying lungs out but what’s the use now. I’m dying a lonely lover's death, oh how the reaper must weep for one's like me.
“Have you told him yet? Needle-noggin?” Wolfwood asks him to light a cigarette and walks towards the bathroom.
“It's not him. There's no way, it's a mistake." I couldn't love Vash, it's too soon.
"You really want to keep lying while on your deathbed huh?" Wolfwood threw me a towel as he took another drag.
''By the looks of those petals ya could have a Morning Glory growing inside that lil heart of yours, worse case its a moon flower."
"Those are poisonous right?" I tried to wipe up the blood and petals but I think it stained the wood floors. I might have to pay a deposit or damage fees.
"Right. So even if you get enough money for the surgery it will be useless since the poison is already in your system. You'll die in a few weeks sweetheart. "
'I'm dying'
"I guess I should be glad I met a priest when I did huh? Maybe you can bless my grave with some religious crap about heaven or something." I tried to joke around but in the end everything came out in short labored sobs.
'I'm really dying'
"So you really don't want to tell him huh? "
"What's the point? I'll be dead soon." Looking back now maybe I should have told him sooner.
Stay tuned for part two coming soon

The tower was quiet... And you were bored. You tried everything to cure your boredom. Watch a movie. Watch a horror movie, but that didn't really help. Tried to solve a puzzle, and even made a sandwich. You even went on YouTube to watch an Iceberg about old nostalgic kid's shows. But in the end... You were still bored... And nothing cured you.
Turning your head slightly as you slouched on the couch, your eyes landed on your boyfriend's hammer. You always wanted to lift the hammer, and you had times when you could've but you were scared. You didn't think you were worthy at all. You weren't an angel, you did some bad things when you were a kid as all kids do. You'll never forget having to apologize to a cashier for getting caught shoplifting a glue stick when you were four.
But, now that you were finally alone with the hammer, you could finally pick it up without the possible ridicule or embarrassment. You hated being put on the spot, especially in front of all of your superhero friends. All their eyes were on you as Tony tried to convince you to lift the hammer. You had to laugh awkwardly, waving him off before they forgot about you and made Steve try and lift the hammer instead.
So, here you were, still staring down at the hammer half an hour later, trying to figure out if you could lift it. The hammer seemed so heavy, like something out of a fairytale. The thought of lifting this thing made your stomach twist nervously. You could feel your face flush with embarrassment. How much courage must you have to do that?! What if you drop the hammer? Broke something? Tony would have your head if you broke his favorite coffee table. You scoffed at that, Tony wouldn't care, he was rich. He could buy another. Looking back at the hammer, you ran a hand through your hair, before letting out a dramatic sigh.
Closing your eyes, you reached out, and wrapped your hand around the handle, before lifting the hammer up. For a split second, you felt a rush of adrenaline course through you. But it disappeared as quickly as it came, leaving your body tense and shaky as you let out a breath. It only lasted for a second, yet it took your breath away. This was too much for you. Opening your eyes, they widened, as you stared at the hammer in your hand.
You were worthy.
You let out a breath, blinking rapidly as you slowly moved the hammer up and down; it was light as a feather. You smiled, feeling giddy from how light and easy it was to lift. Before you knew it, you jumped into the air in joy, before flipping the hammer in the air and catching it once more. You grabbed the hammer with both hands, bringing it closer to you as you closed your eyes, smiling widely. "I am worthy." You whispered, letting out a breathy laugh, "I am worthy." You repeated quietly, the hammer fits perfectly in your hand, as though it was made just for you. "I am technically King of Asgard." You smirked, twirling the hammer around proudly, before jumping onto the counter, and landing on your feet with ease. Raising the hammer in the air, you let out a triumphant laugh, as the hammer crackled and the power went out. You flinched, dropping the hammer on the counter by your feet with a loud thud. "Oops."
~~~
After the power came back on, you were back to being bored. Before you got an idea. Finding the hammer once more, you picked it up. Testing the feather-light weight, you swung it around in your hand. It was odd how quiet the tower was, but most of the team were on missions, and others were somewhere else in the tower. You were kind of lonely. You missed Thor... Since he was training with Steve. You wished you both had more time together, but it was kind of hard when you were both superheroes for the world. But you treasured the times when it was just the two of you, watching movies, cuddling, just fooling around...
Getting an idea, you knew that you'd see Thor in a couple of hours, right before dinner, so you began scheming. Your mind raced with ideas on how to prank Thor, and then you thought of something. The hammer comes to you when you call it, so when Thor calls to Mjölnir, you'd subtly do the same thing. From what you imagined, hopefully, if it worked out and didn't fail, Mjölnir would slightly move away. Your mind pictured how confused Thor would be when he tries to call for Mjölnir but it doesn't listen.
You smirked, plopping down on the couch with Mjölnir on your lap, staring mischievously at the tv as it played an old 80s movie, you snickered, petting the hammer like an old movie villain as you began plotting again.
~~~
Thor sighed as the elevator door opened, stepping out into the main room, Thor spotted you on the couch, his hammer across from you, exactly where he left it. You were watching something on the large tv, but Thor didn't know what it was. Something cartoon-y with a unicorn. Looking up, you instantly smiled, meeting Thor's eyes. "Thor, baby, hi. How was training?" You asked,  looking at him adoringly. Thor smiled back, walking over to you, and sitting next to you.
"Good," Thor told you, kissing your forehead, "Steve has been giving me a lot of help with my battle strategies."
You nodded, humming in agreement, "That's good. I missed you." You turned in your seat towards him, grabbing one of his hands with yours and rubbing circles with your thumb. Thor chuckled lightly, squeezing your hand lightly.
"I missed you more, my queen." He replied, leaning forward to place a kiss on your lips. After pulling back, Thor rested his head against yours, smiling softly. You hummed contently, before closing your eyes and relaxing. Thor loved seeing you like that. He loved that whenever he saw you relaxed, there was a smile on your face. "How was your day, my love?" Thor asked softly, stroking your cheek gently with the pad of his finger.
You smiled, looking at him adoringly before answering, "Busy. Busy." And Thor chuckled lightly.
"Busy doing what, my love?" He asked, "From what I remember, I left for training and you were on this couch, and I came back and you are still on the couch."
You smirked lightly, rubbing your nose against his, "Are you calling me lazy, Thor?" You teased, grinning when he rolled his eyes playfully.
"Not at all," Thor replied, "Just curious." He added with a smile, "Besides, I am sure if I was in your shoes, I would've fallen asleep already."
You laughed lightly, "You're probably right," You said happily, snuggling closer to Thor. Thor wrapped his arm around your waist, pulling you closer to him while resting his chin on top of your head. "So, any plans for dinner tonight?" You asked, playing with Thor's fingers.
"No," He answered after thinking for a moment, "But I think I heard something about Sam bringing takeout," Thor replied, running his fingers through your hair.
"Well, I'm excited." You muttered, closing your eyes. "Is it pizza?" You asked curiously.
"I know not, my dove," Thor spoke, before sitting up, "But, we might as well clean the table off." He spoke, and you smirked, this was your chance.
As if in slow motion, you watched as Thor reached out for the hammer. You splayed out your hand, concentrating on moving the hammer slightly towards you. Just as Thor's fingers brushed the handle, you moved the hammer, Thor trying to grasp nothing. Thor paused, furrowing his eyebrows as he tried again, the hammer moving again. Once again, nothing. You couldn't stop yourself from laughing at his frustrated expression. You shook your head, giggling lightly. Thor looked over to you, raising an eyebrow as you continued to chuckle, "What?" He questioned.
"The hammer." You replied, shaking your head. Thor blinked. "It's not listening." You added, still chuckling slightly.
Thor stared at the hammer once more, trying to figure out why the hammer kept scooting just out of his reach. Until you continued to laugh, making him realize something. Slowly turning back towards you, Thor's eyes widened in shock. "Y/N..?" He asked, "Do you have an explanation for this?" He questioned, his voice laced with confusion.
You gave him a look of innocence as if you didn't even know what you did wrong. "Uh..." You started, before trailing off, trying to think of something. You knew you should tell him, but your mind was blank. Your mouth hung open for a few moments, as you tried to think of something. Finally, you shrugged, looking down and blushing a little bit. "My bad." You mumbled, before laying back down on the couch.
You waited, nervously, wondering what Thor would say to you. Would he be angry? Or annoyed? Instead, Thor leaned forward and pressed his lips to yours, taking you by surprise. You instantly melted into the kiss, wrapping your arms around him as you kissed back. Thor pulled away first, smiling as he placed a soft peck on your lips. "Don't worry," He murmured, cupping your cheek gently, "I'm not mad at you." You looked up at him, smiling shyly, "I am beyond joyful, my love. You are worthy." He added, pressing another quick kiss to your lips before settling himself comfortably on the couch beside you. "And I am beyond proud." He added, putting his arm around your shoulder.
~~~
The next day, you and Thor decided to have fun with the other Avengers once they all came back from their missions. First, you both left the hammer on Tony's personal toilet, so he couldn't use it and had to use a regular toilet that didn't have built-in Bluetooth. You didn't dare prank Natasha, but you both pranked Clint; by closing off a vent he liked to go through. You even pranked Scott, placing one of his playing cards under the hammer, so he only had fifty-one cards in his deck. Overall, it was a fun and great bonding experience between you and Thor. In the end, all your amazing pranks were forgiven and you, Thor, and most of the team sat together watching a movie.
When you all went to bed that night, you sighed, wrapping your arms around Thor. "This is nice." You admitted quietly, nuzzling your face against his chest. Thor wrapped his arms around you, smiling.
"It is." Thor agreed.
"Mmm..." You moaned softly, sighing deeply. Thor tightened his hold on you, pulling you closer as you nuzzled into him. "Do you want to go get Pop-Tarts tomorrow?" You asked softly, lifting your head to look up at Thor.
"I think that sounds wonderful, my love" Thor responded, smiling. You grinned brightly at him, pressing a quick peck to his jaw before you nestled back against him, smiling contentedly.
[Audio Transcript:
[Theme from  Agatha Christie’s Marple plays]
Anthony: So when we last left you, you had just learned that the first anchor that you needed to find was the anchor of loneliness and it had taken the form of Tony Pepperoni the principal of teen high
Will: [Gasps]
Matt: I feel like our instinct is not to just murder it’s uh, it’s to be 4 therapy teens and solve this
Normal: Something in my heart tells me that the anchor is in Tony Pepperoni
Taylor: So do we kill him?
Scary: I’m down with killing him
Normal: I don’t wanna kill- I mean he’s my arch enemy, I kinda hate his guts but like-
Taylor: So you wanna kill him?
Scary: Yeah
Normal: I don’t- no. The whole point is to not kill people
Normal: Team huddle, everyone just- give us one second Mr-
Tony: I just want someone to fix me or kill me
[laughter]
Scary: You heard him he wants to be killed
Link: No no!
Normal: No no! Dah! Guys, we really bit off a lot here, this is a little out of my depth
Scary: Guys I know what we have to do
Normal: What we- what do we have to do? As I’m pretty sure we just torqued this guys marriage?
Scary: Yeah, we gotta kill Ralph
Link: Yeah but like, we just ripped the bandaid off
Normal: Gotta kill Ralph??
[laughter]
Scary: We gotta kill his wife
Scary: Maybe you’re the problem
Scary: Guys, guys we need to kill Margarita
[laughter]
Scary: If you guys are still down with killing her I am
Link: Yeah maybe, I’m so bad at this guys
Link: Look, you either gotta stop being lonely or we’re gonna have to kill you, that’s the situation
Scary: Yeah
Anthony: Roll intimidation
Matt: That’s a 12
Anthony: A 12
Tony: I mean, that’s a little strong, you’re coming on a little strong for that. I already feel like I’m dying inside anyway so what’s the point?
Tony: I just wish someone would kill me.
[laughter]
Scary: I’m saying guys, it would be so easy
Tony: Would it help if I told you that I’m racist?
[laughter]
[music fades out]
Willy: Scary-
Anthony: And he like, looks at you and he follows Scary’s gaze to Tony Pepperoni and he looks back at Scary and he goes
Willy: Just say the word
Scary: Go ahead
Willy: Okay!
Anthony: And he pulls a knife out of one of the knife holders and just stabs Tony Pepperoni in the throat with it
Link: Mr. Pep- Normal: I-
Link: You’re not-
Matt: I hold his hands- does he die?
Will: I rush up, I cast cure wounds on him
Scary: Wait, stop
Normal [yelling]: What do you mean fuck you Scary are you fucking kidding me right now?
Taylor [yelling]: Why are you telling him to stop? What the fuck?
Will: And I cast cure wounds
Willy: It’s over. It’s already happened. It’s done
Normal [yelling]: NO!
Willy: It’s done. It’s okay
Normal [yelling]: What?? No?
Willy: It’s fine. It’s fine!
Normal [yelling]: Call an ambulance
Anthony: And Link is there holding Tony Pepperoni and Tony’s like
Tony: [trying to speak but can’t]
Link: Hey man, I’m here you’re- you’re not alone man. I’m- I’m here with you.
Devil's Night Watch: The Crow (1994)
Thank you to @eerian-sadow and @ilyena-sylph for watching with me, even if it was just by discord for the incomparable eerian-sadow!
++
Graeme Revell knocked it out of the park for the OST Ilyena_Sylph: 💯 eeriansadow: YES
I love the kid that played Sarah. She just… she's perfect Ilyena_Sylph: i love Sarah so much
I am VERY glad Eric's introduction as the Crow is SO extensive and long. I know some complain that it is slow in relation to the rest, but… it works so well. Then again, comic book feel of it is perfection to me. eeriansadow: I agree Ilyena_Sylph: i can't imagine it being even a frame shorter. it's just. it's perfect. eeriansadow: — It IS. It's exactly what he needed. And it's an indrawn breath before the madness hits Yeah. And the transition, once the memories play out, into the rock music from the eerie haunting music? +chef kiss+ eeriansadow: So good, yes I just… you feel ALL OF HIS LOVE and his PAIN eeriansadow: nodnod
Still amused that my two roles for Tin-Tin's actors are THIS and Hackers -- where he was a bit Flaming
I love that both The Cure and Nine Inch Nails limited how often they would play their songs from this movie, despite both being frequently requested.
That is not murder strut. That is VENGEANCE WALKING
Ilyena_Sylph: i adore that they put the lyrics in the proper closed captions.
Ilyena_Sylph: i have such a love-hate with the fucking pawnshop owner and Tin-Tin and how much they despise each other. Ilyena_Sylph: like, it's just enjoyable in a truly bizarre way. Ilyena_Sylph: and gods, his sheer physical power.
I love the fight with Tin-Tin for showing how he is learning his abilities. I totally think "it's all in the reflexes" when he catches the knife.
Top Dollar and his sister are CREEPY. And I love it. Ilyena_Sylph: they are and it's gloriously terrible. Michael Wincott is still so pretty here.
Brandon Lee wasn't actually on the short list for the role. Lee himself convinced O'Barr. And then helped shape the final film creatively.
Torres is such a DICK.
Super strength, nigh-invulnerability, speed, animal senses, post-cognition…
Ilyena_Sylph: "jolly pirate nicknames!" "Is that gasoline I smell?" Creator cameo! (looter taking the TV)
Was it just me, or was there some Looks going on between Myca and T-Bird? Ilyena_Sylph: such a delightful little meeting there. Ilyena_Sylph: there were some interesting looks, for sure.
OH ERIC Touching her was SO HARD for his mind. Ilyena_Sylph: and doing anything good.
For those that never looked it up, the lady cop is Annabella. Tony Todd's character is Grange. Neither is named in the movie.
"Stop me if you've heard this one before…" I actually had not heard that joke before this movie, and I love it. I am sad they had to abbreviate the Fun Boy scene. But it works the way they handled it. We didn't actually NEED to see Eric interrogate him, though it served to show for every thing he did that wasn't directly part of the vengeance, it weakened him. (If you don't know, Fun Boy recovers enough before Eric is done to hurt him because of Eric healing Darla's addiction.)
I LOVE Albrecht. "You still have your hat on." Ilyena_Sylph: ACAB, but he tries not to be. Ilyena_Sylph: "Boo." He's what I used to believe cops were supposed to be. People who really wanted to make the world better. A fairy tale, in other words. OH ERIC. Ilyena_Sylph: "nothing is trivial." I LOVE THEIR DYNAMIC. "I thought I'd use your front door."
Now, I've never verified, but the sword Top Dollar uses here is the same blade from The Three Musketeers. I should get a copy of that to verify… Oh Gideon you dug your grave, insulting Myca. Ilyena_Sylph: "for fuck's sake, die, willya?!"
Actual Vinyl. But then, Detroit. Makes sense there would have still been vinyl presses running for the indie scene up there. eeriansadow: Yep
"Drive." Hello Henry Rollins. In the Yugo. Ilyena_Sylph: +giggle+ Coffee in the lap of an ACAB. Ilyena_Sylph: hot coffee to the crotch. Ilyena_Sylph: say what you will about Skank, he's loyal as fuck. crazy little bastard. Yes, he very much is. I love that T-Bird is actually the one that has to endure TERROR before his death. Fun Boy was too high to be really terrified, Tin-Tin didn't last long enough… Skank, yeah, he winds up having to watch the melee, but he ain't all there enough to really feel what T-Bird just did.
Ilyena_Sylph: Grange's 'what the fuuuuuuck' face perched at the edge of the opened grave. INDEED!
Ilyena_Sylph: oh, Darla. Yeah. Side note - Darla is a good character in the TV show.
Ilyena_Sylph: god i hate Torres. Yes, we do. Ilyena_Sylph: racist prick
The story BEHIND the reunion between Sarah and Eric HURTS. Ilyena_Sylph: ?? She filmed this after Brandon's death. Ilyena_Sylph: oH GODS YES "You're not dead, are you" to the CAT Ilyena_Sylph: WELL?! it's a reasonable question! Ilyena_Sylph: given her last 24 hours! And I always though Gabriel was touched by the supernatural because of the events.
The Skank scene with Grange and Top Dollar… Skank's actor played it well.
Sarah and Albrecht coming clean about Eric is so touching. Ilyena_Sylph: 'he can't be my friend because… because i'm alive.'
Thrill Kill Cult's song is so PERFECT for the coming scene. Jeff Imada, legendary stuntman and stunt coordinator. "Devil's night greeting cards." I love how Brandon MOVES. And the kill floor is live. Ilyena_Sylph: YES the change from the techno metal to the eerie music, the almost quiet around the bullets… Ilyena_Sylph: when did you become a shootist, Eric? (talking about Brandon's other roles) - Showdown in Little Tokyo? Or Rapid Fire
What was with the 90s and Helicopter chases over skylines? "So many cops, you'd think they were giving away donuts." Also, ALL the blood on Albrecht's car seat was a really good sign of his power waning. eeriansadow: It was, yes. Good visual storytelling
Sarah sleeping at the graves is just so her. He CAN'T tell her goodbye, because you don't get that chance before you die and can't take it after. And that is a promise she kept, about not taking off the ring, if I remember the second movie right. eeriansadow: I haven't watched the second in a LONG time but I believe you're right I think it gets taken off of her at one point? But. Just like Top Dollar just did to her. eeriansadow: Yeah
Metatextually (as Top Dollar will monologue in a few minutes), Eric's job WASN'T done. But oh he's waning on power. Ilyena_Sylph: but he thought it was Ilyena_Sylph: he didn't know. Yeah.
Albrecht to the RESCUE! Grange going down to Albrecht, when he was the enforcer for Top Dollar, the man behind most of Albrecht's cases, felt good. Ilyena_Sylph: yep And Myca, the mystic, dies at the actual crow's actions. Weather-vane versus sword…. Top Dollar is one of the best amoral villains in cinema. Ilyena_Sylph: and stupid enough to not be able to not gloat. Ilyena_Sylph: and make himself a justified target again. Well, Lawful Evil. He has rules, they're just… fucked up.
"I've been meaning to come to church anyway." And Albrecht pins it all on Top Dollar. Gotta love that.
MY HEART ALWAYS THUMPS SO HARD AT SHELLY COMING FOR ERIC. "For Brandon and Eliza" - yep, there's the tears now. eeriansadow: Yes. I always cry at the dedication
And new to me trivia - Eliza, his fiancée, was his assistant on the movie.
[fic: double-blind AU] Ok let's say Pyrite!Peter succeeds in bringing in another Peter to help him. How would they deal with extremis!Tony? Would they still try to cure him?
[[🐻ursa interlude🐻
HONESTLY… I don't know haha! If I was going to write an actual fic it's something I'd have to iron out, because there are Big Issues in every direction pretty much.
Because, ignoring the potential of a cure: neither Peter would find it acceptable to think that SIM was still out there ready to just move onto the next Peter to snatch! They wouldn't even find it acceptable to think he was still playing god-emperor in his own universe. But Peter's not a killer, and how are they going to bring him to justice? Turn him over to the ???UN??? Bring him over to alt-Peter's world and put him on the Raft????
And then even assuming it's a version of the AU where P!Peter discovered the Spidey mask/its data on Extremis (which is the only way he would know about Tony's personality change to even consider a cure,) I think he and alt-Peter would…….. have to have a conversation about whether curing him under the circumstances would maybe be…… unreasonably cruel?
I think there would be some conflicted feelings over the ethics of "curing" him into what is a pure nightmare scenario, especially since he'd likely still be held accountable for his actions as SIM regardless. It would make P!Peter feel more secure to know that "SIM" didn't exist anymore, but also… fuckin' yikes, y'know?
(If I was going to actually write something for it it's the type of thing I would write around, haha. SIM gets a Disney villain death in the course of the struggle, SIM gets a "oh he DOES have a glimmer of an actual heart" death by sacrificing himself to protect the boys when something goes wrong, SIM's worldview is so shattered by all these Peters that hate him that he crawls off to join origiPete's body in his freezer, etc. etc.)]]
Also I made it through the first ten minutes of Secret Invasion and then got so angry at the MCU that I had to go cuddle my dog for a while. Sorry hot Maria Hill I tried. Prickly MCU feelings below the cut.
(Also the more the world turns the more the idea of “present day” without acknowledging the COVID pandemic becomes more and more dissonant in media in general, and I thought this about Secret Invasion and then I remembered that “present day” in the MCU is actually I think 2026 because of the shitty math they did for the Snap and I had to go cuddle my dog some more.)
(And then I thought about how nice it was that nobody could retcon that Tony Fucking Stark cured COVID because he’s For Sure Canonically Dead and that helped a little.)
(Wait no because the dumb baby math means he COULD have cured COVID because Endgame takes place in 2023 doesn’t it I hate it hereeeeeee)
BUT THE THING IS I AM MAD BECAUSE I ACTUALLY LOVE A SECRET DOUBLE STORY.
But it’s a treasure and a gift of a trope because it relies on the viewer knowing the characters. The fun of it, the joy of it, is being able to know the characters well enough that when there’s a shift in facial expression or a choice that doesn’t feel quite right, I the viewer can guess along! The reward of being able to see the twist coming because you know these people, the satisfaction of yelling at the screen don’t listen she’s evil because you the viewer have information that the other characters don’t.
And I want to like this SO MUCH but I’m sitting here like. What depth of knowledge do I have about the inner life of Famous Actor Playing White Man In Suit Number Six. Whose motivations have been a clear and consistent thread between films such that I can follow along in that way. How can that tension and joy possibly be earned in a production where actors are only given single scenes at a time to avoid ~spoiling twists.
——-
Steve and Tony sit across from the two assassins. Steve wishes he had the words for the disappointment he feels in seeing them injured… again.
He crosses his arms and waits for them to talk; explain themselves.
There’s a woman in the basement.
A dead Russian diplomat, head of the Red Room, found by Shield. Dead widows and two more hog tied and gagged.
This feels like an intervention; or an interrogation.
They look to each other, and do the silent conversation that Tony hates so much.
“Start at the beginning,” Tony prompts, “and don’t leave out any details.”
“Dreykov is dead,” Clint states, “what more is there to know?”
.
Tony rubs his hand over his face, meeting Natasha in the kitchen.
“Who is she to you?” he asks, handing her some water, choosing to ignore the fact that she still only uses one arm and hasn’t done anything to immobilize the other.
She sips the water, pouring the rest down the sink.
“Someone I used to know and love,” she says truthfully.
It strikes Tony that he doesn’t know Natasha extremely well. Or, he does, but he doesn’t know her past.
“We went through hell together, and somehow survived.”
Tony understands a little.
“She’s you, adjacent.”
He gets a smile at that, or a patented upturn of the lips.
“Kind of.”
They stand in waiting for the other to talk.
“You can’t leave her down there, you know? You will need to talk to her eventually.”
Natasha nods.
“I know.”
She sighs and pours another drink, the action perhaps unconscious, as she hands it to Tony.
“I just wanted to give her time to think about what she wants to do.”
Staring straight ahead, Clint still in her line of sight, there’s moments where she’s brought back to her own decisions, why she chose to be a part of Shield, then, of the Avengers.
“Did you know, when Clint first asked me to join Shield, I stole all of his possessions and then ran away?”
She turns to Tony and smiles again at the memory.
“He then got caught up in following me and got into trouble in his own right.”
“And then you saved him?” Tony asks, intrigued.
“Something like that.”
He’s impressed that after the last two days, she’s still not lost in herself as he’s seen her do many times after big days and big emotions.
Maybe she’s holding it all together, keeping strong and guarded until she can find a place to fall apart.
“How are you?” he ventures.
She bites her lip, a quirk he’s seen Clint do.
“I’m okay,” she decides on. “It’s like all these things have happened and I don’t know how to process it. I keep thinking… I keep thinking that if I can make it through today, then I can rest tomorrow. And then, there’s more.”
He nods.
“Always something?”
“Always something.”
“What would have made it easier for you?” he asks tentatively.
She shrugs, the question feeling personal.
“Maybe options? Knowing that death or defection weren’t the only two options?”
Tony’s stomach drops.
Having never had to make decisions around his own death, not directly anyway, he can’t imagine having to make a choice about it.
“Are you going to talk to her?”
Natasha nods, eyes blank. He can almost see the thoughts and fear.
“Maybe she’ll choose to stay here,” he says, unsure if it’s what she wants.
“Maybe.”
There’s a pause.
“You cured me of his voice in my head and I never thanked you for that.”
Tony knows he can’t accept the thanks, so he waves it off, as she doubles down.
“Do you think you could make an antidote for it? A general one I mean.”
Natasha thinks that it is what she would want, even if he’s dead, to make sure no one could give orders to her and make her do anything she didn’t want to.
Tony nods slowly.
“I think so, it would be an extrapolation of the initial compounds, the nanites that are in your blood now more generic, so if it’s something they have too, I think… I think I could do it,” he tells her.
She steps to the door.
“Thank you, I won’t forget what you’ve done.”
He wonders later why her words sounded like a goodbye.
.
Jace paces back and forth.
Although she didn’t like Lotte and Grace, she wonders what happened to them.
There’s no love lost for Max, the little girl who used to like picking flowers went a long time ago, cruelty and anger making her into a ruthless widow that seemed to have no good left.
She will always remember her though.
She rubs her thumb across the scar on her palm, wondering what the day holds.
.
Natasha stands at the elevator.
She’d told Clint she didn’t want him with her, but being here alone, she wishes he was by her side.
Fear holds her stationary, as she works to get her breathing under control. No weaknesses, not now.
Jace watches Natasha opening the door, standing on the opposite side of the room.
“I’m sorry,” she opens, “for not coming sooner. It’s selfish on my part, to leave you waiting. Wondering.”
Jace doesn’t move, even as Natasha sits on the bed.
The only weapon she has is the sharpened toothbrush, and the terrain. Sometimes that’s all you need.
“The other two are under surveillance by Shield. It’s likely they will be debriefed and then given a choice between being locked up or joining shield.”
There’s a pause and shake in her breath.
“They don’t know you’re here. Whether you want to stay or go is up to you. You have the choice.”
She pulls out a small bag, making Jace stand back.
“Sorry, it’s just…”
Opening it she shows Jace the money inside, a change of clothes and disposable phone.
“It’s not much, but it’s enough to get you where you need to go.”
Jace stares.
She doesn’t know what to say but she knows freedom is not something that she takes lightly.
Natasha seems unsure what to do next, the silence unnerving.
“Do you remember when we did the morning run, and Max picked the flowers, put it in her hair, and then they shaved her head when she came back?”
Jace crosses her arms across her body, the death still fresh. She’s not quite ready to reminisce, despite the fact there’s no love lost.
Natasha seems to take the hint, standing and moving to the door.
“It’ll be open. You can leave when you want, if you decide you want to stay, just be here tomorrow and we will work it out then what to do next.”
Pausing, she turns to look at Jace, really look at her.
“I am sorry. For everything. For leaving, for not coming back… I wanted to.. I just.. couldn’t.”
Her voice cracks.
Jace hears her, she also doesn’t blame her. She can’t say what she wants, she doesn’t know what that is.
Her heart hurts.
It’s not fair.
“Don’t miss me to much!” Tony jokes as he breezes out to the jet hanger, passing by the crew of Cap, Nat, and Sam that have gotten back from a mission he has no clue was about. He’s nearly late for his business trip already and so he almost doesn’t hear when a despondent looking Steve replies
“Sometimes I miss you so much I cry a bit on nights you aren’t home”
And when that sentence finally sinks into Tony’s brain, Steve’s booked it out of the hanger as an amused but also apologetic Sam pauses to tell Tony, “ there miiggghhhttt have been an incident with Truth serum,” before Sam dashes after their mortified leader.
“You’re going to be late,” Nat tells him as she ushers Tony to his waiting plane
“But-“
“Give is a bit to figure out a cure, it won’t be fair to corner him right now, also you are definitely late now”
anon this is so fucking cute sdglsgjsdlj they're such disasters.
I view Steve as being remarkably earnest so maybe Nat and Sam don't even realize Steve's been subjected to a truth serum until they bring up a topic that Steve is notoriously cagey on.
Maybe Sam asks if Steve wanted to stop by medical before their debrief and Steve, who's used to the serum healing up whatever wounds he sustains after a mission tries to lie and say that he's fine, so as not to be a burden.
What comes out instead is "I think I've been stabbed?"
"Wait what the fuck?"
and it spirals from there
bonus points if everyone realizes just how much Steve keeps to himself when it comes to personal issues because he hates for anyone to see him as a burden. extra bonus points if tony is the one to slap him upside the head to get steve to talk about his feelings and it just turns into a game of how many compliments can steve give tony before tony loses it.
"Take off your sunglasses. I like seeing your pretty eyes."
"Your lips look so soft. I think about kissing them all the time."
"That suit makes your ass look amazing."
"Stop complimenting me when I'm lecturing you!"
"You're cute when you're angry."
When I'm Gone
Peggy Carter never thought she would be the last one standing. She and the Howling Commandos had fought side by side through so many battles. In her mind, she assumed they would grow old together or die saving the world from Hydra.
But that’s not what happened.
One moment she’d been in the heat of battle, and then… she was in the future. And everyone she’d ever known was dead.
Except for Steve.
But now, Steve was dying.
“It’s his lungs, Captain Carter,” the doctor told her. “They’re weak.”
Peggy laughed. Of course, it was Steve’s lungs. The scrawny little kid from Brooklyn had never been able to escape that. And now, in the future - her new present - Steve was fighting a losing battle.
She’d been in the 21st century for eight months. Still, Peggy had yet to acclimate to the noise and never-ending news cycle that insisted on running endless stories about her, her emergence, her clothes, and what she liked to eat. It was appalling.
Steve told her that was how the new world worked, but Peggy hated it.
When the doctor said there was nothing they could do for Steve, Peggy went into action. Her telephone fit in the palm of her hand, and she could talk to someone halfway across the world through a monitor. Surely, someone could find a way to cure Steve. After all, this was the future.
But they couldn’t. Not even Tony Stark - Howard’s prodigy - could find a way to repair the damage in Steve’s lungs.
So, Peggy went to his bedside every day and talked to him. They recounted their time together in Europe, fondue, and talked about anything they could think of to take their minds off Steve’s dwindling time.
However, Steve always insisted that Peggy continue her work.
“The world needs you, Peggy,” he told her.
Peggy scoffed. “The world forgot about me.”
Steve shook his head. “I never forgot about you. And the world needs Captain Carter - now more than ever.”
Peggy sighed.
“Promise me you won’t give up when I’m gone, Pegs.”
“Steve…”
“You have to promise me.”
Peggy took Steve’s hand between hers and nodded. “I promise.”
Steve sat back against his pillows and nodded. “That’s my girl.”
Peggy bit back the sob that threatened to escape and tried to pull herself together. When the knock came a few hours later, Peggy placed a gentle kiss against Steve’s cheek while he slept and left before his children and grandchildren entered the room.
The ache didn’t hurt as much as it once did, but it still hurt to see what could have been hers whenever his family appeared. She hated the world for taking her away from him so many years ago, only to bring her back to him and then take him away again.
