Uncharismatic Fact of the Day

Most birds take at least a few weeks to learn how to fly, if not longer. The maleo, however, is a bird far ahead of the game. This species buries its eggs deep underground, and after the chicks hatch they dig their way to the surface and are able to fly almost immediately.

Astarion - Grackle

Very noisy, often steals food from other birds, pretty iridescent feathers, absolute drama queens. Totally not scared of anything as well.

Lae'zel - Brown Goshawk

Will hunt other birds, small mammals, even picks fights with other birds of prey. Will be aggressively harassed by corvids until they go away, which leads to our next bird...

Shadowheart - Jackdaw

Intelligent like all corvids but one of the smallest. Considered sacred by a whole bunch of folklore. And I mean... look at her. Moody af.

Wyll - Kea

Super curious and smart, lives in really harsh mountainous environments. Wrongly blamed and hunted for suspicion of attacking livestock.

Karlach - American Game Fowl

Bred to fight. Make really really good protective mothers. About as badass as chickens get tbh. Big red protective himbo bird.

Gale - Northern Pygmy-Owl

Smart and kinda fearless. Lots of tricks up his sleeves and always punches above his weight, though disliked by other birds.

Gregor the Overlander

Artemis Fowl

The Adventure Zone

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

Frankenstein or the Modern Prometheus

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (fr so much was left out of the 1939 film!)

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass

The actual Little Mermaid story (there are a ton of adaptations I haven't seen yet so maybe it exists somewhere but we all know Disney’s didn’t even come close)

Okay. Very silly AF idea.

The Cube looking like… a Rubik’s Cube. Like, it’s still blue or gold or whatever, but it’s formed of a lot of small cubes like one, and different sides light up in a constantly-changing pattern. Solving it solves The Eternity Code.

Sea turtles are famous for the perilous way they start their lives, but they're not the only ones that face peril from day one. Australian bushturkey chicks have to dig themselves out of their nest, which is usually 1-1.5 m (3.2-4.9 ft) deep, and are capable of flight only a few hours after emerging! This is an important skill to pick up quick, as most predators find the idea of a defenseless baby bird too good an opportunity to pass up; only 1 in every 200 eggs laid survives to adulthood.
