The Other side and Fate
A #JujutsuKaisen theory on The Other side and Fate. This will be a continuation of my previous theory about the 9 levels of consciousness and particularly the 8th level (Storehouse consciousness.
In JJK , Gege makes use of a lot of ideas and words with Buddhist connotations. The Title for Chap 211 was 'Ripen', now the usage of this very term alludes to 'Ripening of Karma or Karmic seeds'. But what are Karmic seeds ? The Karmic seeds (Bijas) are said to be the impressions, Habits and tendencies accumulated throughout one's countless lifetimes. The Storehouse consciousness or Alaya is the repository where these Karmic seeds are stored. These seeds are the very basis or foundation of our personality, the deepest layer of our consciousness
Tumblr media
HOW our senses will perceive the world , our inherent bias all comes from the storehouse consciousness. In JJK i believe Megumi's shadow IS the storehouse consciousness, notice how Megumi can literally 'store' weapons and even himself in his shadow.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The idea of Ripening of Karma means that under the right situations and circumstances, these Karmic seeds constituting past thoughts and experiences have the potential to 'ripen' into future actions , emotions and thoughts. Even Megumi's domain name Chimera shadow 'garden' alludes to the idea of the shadows constituting the Karmic seeds
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This philosophy of storehouse consciousness is analogous to the western idea of the subconscious or more accurately the 'unconscious' and in terms of depth psychology this idea of the unconscious brings us to the concept of "The Shadow". The Shadow is a part of the Model of psyche (soul) proposed by Swiss Psychiatrist Carl Jung whose works , i believe are one of Gege's primary inspirations. According to Jung the psyche is divided in 3 main parts:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
1. Persona (Ego) : It is the aspect of one's character or soul that is presented to or perceived by others or rather 'society'. The outer or assumed aspect of character, it's the mask we wear to create a bridge between our self and fulfilling societal or worldly expectations. It's the Ego we cling to.
Tumblr media
2. Personal unconscious (Shadow): The Personal Unconscious is located at the fringe of consciousness, between 2 worlds. The external or spacial world and the internal or psychic world. It refers to the information and experiences of an individual's soul that have been forgotten or repressed but continue to influence their behavior and attitudes on an unconscious level , It is also what you call the archetype of "The Shadow"
Tumblr media
Before moving to the final part of the psyche let's look at how the persona and the shadow operate on a micro or individual level. Every person creates an identity for themselves based around the concept of persona or ego , influenced by the information received through sensory input (First 6 levels of consciousness which i mentioned in the previous thread) and societal expectations but this is not the core of their soul, it's performative.
Tumblr media
The true essence and nature of the self comes from the shadow of the karmic storehouse as mentioned above, HOW we differently perceive the same world occupied by others is caused due to the nature of our shadow but this is the part that is hidden from us, we suppress and ignore it. It's the most alive part of the soul yet is treated by an individual as if it's dead and nonexistent , this illusion of confirming with the persona and ignorance of the shadow causes a disparity within the Self
Tumblr media
This disparity causes suffering and this very suffering is Humanity's Curse. All these traits that one considers to be negative are hidden here but we also lock away our truths which is why Jogo said "They are the Real humans" born from humanity's truth, their shadow, their karmic energy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This shadow is also what Gege refers to as "The other side". The other side of our soul and that's why the motif of evolution and enlightenment is attached to it, Culling game creates the favorable conditions for humanity's karma to ripen and takes them to meet their other side, their truth. Nirvana or the other side isn't a physical place , it's a state of mind that can be achieved right here, right now
Tumblr media Tumblr media
3. Collective Unconscious (Collective shadow) : the primordial grounds of unconscious from where all personality traits originate and return to , it's what I think Jogo referred to as "the wasteland". This is where archetypes are formed, where the personal shadow takes birth. This collective shadow evolves with time, constantly changing, impacting the personal shadow which impacts the Self of an individual.
Tumblr media
This is also the space that Kenjaku and Sasaki inhabited in chap 160. Remember this vol 23 Pv ? Look at how there seems to be a different form of existence that is active at night (the big eyes and the shadow).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
While one is asleep, the shadow self is awake. It sends messages to guide and control them through the medium of Dreams. Humanity's actions are instigated by their shadow which arises out of the collective shadow and this form of control is what JJK refers to as 'Fate'.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now the inclusion of fate doesn't mean that it is supposed to predetermine every action and extinguish free will. It's a form of test and this is where the difference between fate and karma comes into play. Fate is the set of cards given to one based on their previous karma , how they choose to play with them is their present karma offering them a chance to be free of their fate ONLY if they could recognize their shadow and accept it and this acceptance is 'Love' in JJK's context.
Tumblr media
Kenjaku talking about the impermanent nature of Fate or Karma
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The concept of love or understanding, the love of Self The collective shadow is ultimately the repository from where parts of the soul that humanity ignores originates, this collective shadow IS what Gege refers to as "Evil" in JJK, what Sukuna wanted to get close to through "The Bath".
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jung once said "Until you make the Unconscious conscious, it will control your life and you will call it fate" which summarizes the concept of Fate within the framework of Jujutsu Kaisen.
I'm honestly not very sure if what I've said in this thread and the connections i made will turn out to be true but it was fun to write and share this and i intend to continue this theory. Yeah...there's even more that i want to add later on. Thanks for reading.

10 Writing Prompts for Urban Fantasy
Urban fantasy is one of my favourite genres and my next middle grade novel is such a beast. Often, the hardest part of writing a book is getting started in the first place. Here are ten prompts to get your creative juices flowing!
1. As the clock struck midnight, the abandoned building came alive with whispers of long-forgotten magic. The abandoned building was actually a time machine, and the whispers were from future versions of the characters who had come back in time to change their fates.
2. In the heart of the city, a hidden portal awaited those who knew where to look. The protagonist discovers that the portal actually leads to an alternate reality where they are living their ideal life. They are faced with the choice to stay in this perfect world or return to their own, flawed reality. In the end, they decide to stay, only to realize that the alternate reality is not as perfect as it seemed.
3. The alleyways were filled with creatures of the night, their glowing eyes watching from the shadows. The creatures of the night turn out to be humans who have been transformed into monsters by a powerful witch looking for revenge against the people who wronged her. The main character, who has been hunting and killing these creatures, realizes that they were innocent victims and decides to help reverse the curse and bring justice to the real perpetrators.
4. A mysterious shop appeared on the corner overnight, offering rare and powerful artifacts to those brave enough to seek them out. The shopkeeper is actually a demon, and every item in the shop comes with a hidden cost. The protagonist, who has been acquiring these artifacts to gain power and fame, realizes the true evil behind the shop and must make a difficult choice between keeping their newfound abilities or destroying the shop and freeing all those who have been trapped by its curses.
5. The old subway tunnels held secrets older than time itself, waiting to be uncovered by a curious soul. The subway trains start running on an inexplicable schedule, leading passengers to destinations beyond their wildest imaginations. The protagonist boards one of these mystical trains and finds themselves transported to a parallel version of the city where magic reigns supreme, but dark forces lurk beneath the surface, ready to wage war on their world.
6. A curse swept through the city, turning ordinary citizens into something dark and dangerous. The protagonist discovers that they are immune to the curse and possesses the ability to reverse it, but doing so comes with a heavy price.
7. The streetlights flickered ominously as a powerful storm brewed on the horizon, heralding the arrival of a vengeful spirit. As it draws closer, the protagonist recognizes the spirit as someone they failed to save in their past, a tragic figure forever bound to seek vengeance on the living. With a heavy heart, the protagonist confronts their guilt and promises to help the spirit find peace, even if it means sacrificing everything they hold dear.
8. A group of misfit teenagers discovered they were descendants of ancient sorcerers, destined to save the world from the impending darkness that threatened to consume everything familiar and loved. The teenagers embarked on a journey to unlock their dormant magical abilities, each facing their own inner demons and fears along the way. As they trained and grew stronger, they began to unravel the mystery of their ancestors' downfall and the source of the encroaching darkness.
9. A ring of fire dancers performed in the park, unknowingly summoning a powerful elemental spirit that threatened to consume everything in its path. The elemental spirit grew stronger with each dance, its fiery presence casting a menacing glow over the park. As chaos erupted and panic spread through the crowd, the leader of the fire dancers realized that only by embracing the flames within herself could she hope to control the elemental spirit.
10. An enchanted painting in a gallery held the key to unlocking a gateway to another realm, tempting all who gazed upon it. The protagonist, an art restorer with a keen eye for the unusual, becomes obsessed with the enchanted painting and its mysterious origins. As they delve deeper into the history of the painting, they discover that it was created by a powerful sorcerer who used it as a portal to travel between worlds.

Iretzia and the kingdoms of the ori children au
I decided to rewrite the kingdoms and worldbuilding because I think that I went into stereotypical route with the kingdoms and I wanted to make them more recognisable and unqiue from each other other than "kingdom A but forest" So! Here's a rewritten 6 kingdoms but a bit more in depth so that future content can look better. It’s...extremely long, like 6 pages long. I really suggest you read this bit by bit because it has a lot to take in. The first part is a copy paste but I rewrote everything about the kingdoms.
Without further ado,
Traveling the kingdoms
Traveling between the kingdoms works similarly to our original kingdom. You go back home through meditation and you can travel through all 6 kingdoms if you know the way. But it takes a lot longer because the kingdoms are much bigger than the realms, which makes Home more scarce with skykids and a sort of haven for weary travelers. Passing through a gate causes a skykid to fall asleep and then awaken in the kingdom, unlike the portals in the old realms where skykids are awake during all of them. Sometimes when an adventurer finds ruins of a forgotten building, they would sometimes stumble upon a sleeping ori child or witness a shooting star from the sky actually landing on some ruins. There are times when entering a portal "malfunctions" and a skykid ends up in a whole other kingdom by mistake. It is advised you carry a map of all kingdoms for these situations.
The world
This is Iretzia, a world full of magic and secrets. Magic is a very complicated power, where, in the right hands it could create fantastical inventions and save many lives. But, it could also cause destruction. There are many types of magic, but the most ancient type of magic is light and dark magic. They are both uncontrollable and needed. There has to be a balance between these two magic to have order in this world. Too much dark magic can cause plagues and death and too much light can accidentally spirit souls away into the afterlife. However, light magic has been drifting away from the balance because of the wars that were waged over the thousands of years. People used less of light magic and more forbidden dark magic to win battles. This causes souls to stay trapped in the mortal realm, wandering around the world. Although most do not see them, they are always there. As such, the kingdoms all have different ideas of magic and how they use said magic.
The 5 Kingdoms
Melinka
Melinka is the kingdom that replaces isle. In the Harinia desert, there lives a city that sits in the middle of it, the white pillars of the royal palace walls shine over the orange sands and the voices of a bustling market revives the quiet winding streets of this complex city. The Melinka kingdom has little towns and cities, most forming around massive rivers and oasis to escape the dry world. But, it's true heart lies in its trade with magic, giving away ancient magical items and knowledge for a price. The kingdom has a lot of nomadic villages that travel the harsh desert and selling their trades with merchants and passing travelers. Magic users are mostly found in these villages, the mages working with old magic and sharing legends among it's younger children. The royal family that rules these lands are said to be descendants of powerful mages that established the kingdom thousand of years ago. Nevertheless, they are a charismatic family and they are one of the few kingdoms that allow mages to freely practice their magic
As for skykids, it's a very quiet kingdom and quite ideal for those who are. You can find most skykids in forgotten towns or exploring hidden ancient temples before the environment turned into the sandy blur that it is today. There's...an alarming amount of spirit areas in this kingdom though because of the lack of people, which gives another reason to tread lightly to wanderers in the kingdom.
If you enter this kingdom, you will appear in a temple that worshiped a religion long forgotten. There are a few lingering spirits, but entering forbidden rooms may prove to be a challenged for the determined.
Kaplam
Up on the north of the Vernian sea, lies a small kingdom. But, it's reach is by no means "small" and the ships that sail these mighty seas in the name of the kingdom in search of treasures are not to be looked down upon. This is the kingdom that replaces Prairie.
Kaplam is an island type of kingdom, where the royal capital doubles as it's most populated place. It thrives off the trading from the ships that go in and out of the harbours, collecting and delivering goods from all over the kingdom. The kingdom stretches even beyond the main land, claiming the islands that surrounds north of the Vernian sea. Two statues guard the entrance of the kingdom, the carvings echoing their legends. Although many would assume that the pristine buildings carved with intricate designs from it's architects shine the Kingdom's prosperity, there's a lot of inequality as the walls that divide the upper and lower classes glares at those who pass through it. The poorer district stands away from the docks and before the walls that protect the city, the residents trying to get by in life. The rich loves rare curiosities, and skykids objects are their new fixation. The royal family, albeit good at ruling, share this fascination with the uncommon. There's also a large amount of sirens that inhabit the islands, although those are just rumors...right?
For skykids, they are a lot more comfortable exploring the islands that surrounds the kingdom than the capital city. The capital has too many prying eyes and moths are warned against exploring the city without a guide. The rich district is also off-limits for younger skykids due to how many guards patrol the place. Skykids explore the city at night, whisking away the spirits that haunt the streets. But, it's not uncommon to see skykids sneaking around in houses and trying to take the antiques possessed by spirits.
When you first enter this kingdom, you will appear at an abandoned town on one of the many islands that stretch into the ocean. The burned down buildings already overgrown with plant life, and veterans feel a short of nostalgia when they roam around the area
Lifeno Kingdom
On another continent, another kingdom rests near the forests that stretches beyond towards the great mountains. This kingdom replaces the hidden forest. Enchanted forest surrounds these cities and towns, with magical beasts and creatures hiding away from humans. Although, the forests can become dangerous at night if you are not careful. You may encounter something....unpleasant.
However, it's been recently dubbed as a kingdom of progress. The many adventurer guilds brought prosper to the kingdom and the age of invention has rolled its influence into the royal capital and will soon spread all around the kingdom. Giant flying machines roam around the skies of the capital, and stores full of strange curiosities line up the streets. You never know what may be invented next. Although the many inventions were made by this kingdom and the kingdom seemed to grow, the forest that surrounded the city cries of their intrusion on their untouched ground and broken truces. It won't be long before tension rises, and the royal family seems to have forgotten the reason their ancestors have made these treaties in the first place. But if you ignore these glaring problems, the kingdom is quite the skykid favorite.
Skykids love to explore the forests that stretch across this kingdom. They live in harmony with the magical beasts and the forest spirits. They often don't explore the capital, because some do not like how invasive the kingdom is on the ancient forests. The lost spirts that wander around the forest echoes why the kingdom had to live in peace with those who live in the forest. However, some ignore those warnings and wander around the royal capital, some causing mischief around the streets and others looking for spirits. Upon appearing in this kingdom, you will appear in an old abandoned cottage. The roof has fallen away and sometimes you would smell the scent of baked bread, even though the oven hasn't been used in years.
Ragma
Beyond the Freidan mountains, lies another kingdom beyond its peak. One where ice and snow cover the kingdom almost all year long and one where darkness seem to creep on every corner. This is the kingdom that replaces wasteland.
Ragma is a very complicated kingdom. The mines from the mountains that surround this kingdom carries the kingdoms most valuable resources. Gems, iron and many more were all imported from this kingdom, making it very wealthy. But, that wealth fell victim to many corrupt nobles that had no care about their people and it thus sparked a deadly revolution that brought down the nobility and royal family. A new government of Ragma was established in place of it's royal rulers and it would seem that the life long bloodshed has ended...we hope. The new rulers praise on patriotic love, but how long will they last when the wealth of this kingdoms resources gets to their heads? The kingdom is also home to some forest that speak of dark ancient magic, so much so that it would be wise not to distrub the spirits that lives around the kingdom, lest you want to evoke a punishment. Not to mention the locals that whisper rumors about the mythological frost king being spotted again.
For skykids, this is a kingdom that should not be taken lightly. The few Krills that were still wandering around the kingdom after the spirits moved on made it their new home, and the natural darkness that lurks around the place can drain a skykids light in mere seconds. At least the locals are nice, especially those who believe in the light goddess. Somehow there's a large following of her in this kingdom, and skykids are more welcomed in the kingdom than anywhere else.
When a skykid awakens in this kingdom, they will find themselves in a castle. Whispers of dances that were held echoes through the hallways, as ruined portraits stare lifelessly at you. The castle can be a shelter for a skykid if they ever had the misfortune of traveling during a snowstorm.
Sorano
Beneath the tallest mountain in the Freidan lands, lies a city-like kingdom of wonder. A magical kingdom filled with mysteries and secrets. This is the kingdom that replaces vault.
The Sorano kingdom is a kingdom that was found on the mages that escaped when magic was looked down upon and considered as heretical by the Lifeno before they made a peace treaty with them. The kingdom is completely powered on magic and it consists of layers that go deeper down into the ground. Although, the deeper you go, the more shady and dangerous the places get. It would be wise to avoid the 5th and 6th layer, as they are considered the worst parts of this kingdom. The first layer's "roof" has illusion magic on it, that makes it look like the sky and changes as time goes on. The kingdom also consists of residents of all sorts of diverse races and backgrounds. Prestigious magic academies are nestled in the first layer and it's not uncommon to see students wandering around the kingdom after school. There is no royal family for this kingdom, only a council that decides what's the best for the kingdom. Although there seems to be a argument between whether they should continue to use ancient magic to operate the functions of the kingdom, or to use new magic to improve its system. The council has been divided into two factions because of this.
For skykids, this is a complex kingdom that rarely gets visited. The alleyways and roads twist and turn everywhere they go, and the fact that there's so many residents make it hard for skykids to travel without being noticed. It's also a struggle when they go deeper into the kingdoms layers and have to watch their every step. Although, if skykids need to sell some objects that have no spiritual attachment on them, this is the best kingdom to go to.
Non-kingdoms/Hidden kingdoms
The Freidan mountains This is the place that replaces Valley. It's a gigantic mountain range that stretches for miles and holds many ancient secrets and it's nestled between three kingdoms: Sorana at the highest mountain, Lifeno at one edge of the mountain and Ragma at the other.
It's an ancient part of Iretzia, one filled with spirits and beasts that were alive when the kingdoms even established themselves. A nomadic group called the Yanma traverse these mountains and prays to the Dragon gods that they believe rests underneath these mountains. They are a mysterious group that passes on their secrets verbally from generation to generation. They also call skykids "Amnia’s children" for their ability to fly.
However, there are some tensions between the three kingdoms however, as all three kingdoms are interested in the valuable resources the mountains hold. But they are also at a stalemate, as all sides have come to the realisation that the Freidan mountains aren't called the 'Dragons Nest' for nothing. It is only a matter of time before one kingdom decides to throw away all reason and cease the mountains for themselves.
For skykids, it's the most visited and peaceful place. There's an abandoned town at the edge of a mountain that became both a spirit area and a trading town for skykids, where they share, sell and create goods that you can't find anywhere else. So far it's a rumored place among the kingdoms and it's quite desired by adventurers seeking to find curiosities of these mysterious light beings, but no one has yet to find this place.
A skykid actually awakens on the outskirts of this town. Some skykids build a shelter for when they decide to travel to this place.
The Elven kingdom
Called "Arinia" by the elves, this a hidden kingdom that few can find. They hide themselves away from others as a way of protection after a cruel war almost ended their kingdom. As of now, they made another truce with the other kingdoms, but entrance is still difficult to find.
Technology in this kingdom is advanced and use some special type of Elven magic. It's also another reason why entrance is difficult to find, as they don't want to start another war over their technology. The Elven kingdom adores skykids, believing they were created by the forest help their kind move on from death. It's also not uncommon to see skykids taken in by elven families and treated as their own.
The Ronala islands
A large islands in the Kaplam kingdom. The island has a jungle enviroment, with few cities and towns that go deeper into the jungle, for fear of rumoured monsters and even a labyrinth and temples that are inhabited by forgotten monsters and gods. It's another place that is a challenge for skykids, but there's a group of skykids that act as guides for explorers. They ask for a heavy price though...
Faewild
A kingdom that could be a world on it's own. The Faewild is a place where the Fae resides, mischievous and immortal beings that trick and whisk others away if you dare to give them your name. Light and dark magic lives in harmony, with both having courts that rule over each one. Time moves differently too, where 1 hour can count for one day. Skykids are warned to be wary in this kingdom, as they may struggle to leave when it's too late.
The fields of light
An area where skykids celebrate their festivities in Ragma. Despite so many skykids visiting the place, it never became a spirit area. In fact, some veterans claim that they can feel that the area holds a type of power in the ground, preventing it from becoming a spirit area. The fields stretch far and wide, with stones that are carved in runes of a long forgotten language and it's quite peaceful.

SALAT-UL-TASBEEH
Method and Rewards
Salat-ul Tasbeeh is one of the many beautiful gifts passed on by the Prophet Muhammad (SallAllahu ‘alaihi wa Sallam) to his Ummah. Not only does it erase your sins completely, but also helps you build a close and personal connection with Allah (Subhaanahu wa Ta’ala).
Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SallAllahu ‘alaihi wa Sallam) one day said to his uncle,  ‘Abbas (RadiyAllahu ‘anhu):
“Oh Uncle, shall I not give you, shall I not grant you, shall I not award you, shall I not do mercy on you; When you do ten things Allah  (Subhaanahu wa Ta’ala) will forgive your sins, of future and of past, new and old, those you have forgotten and those you did knowingly, big and small, hidden and revealed.” Then he (SallAllahu ‘alaihi wa Sallam) taught him the way to pray Salat ul Tasbeeh and said to offer this Salah once a day. If not once a day then every Friday, and even if this not possible then once a month, and even if this is not possible then once a year, and even if this is not possible then at least once in a lifetime. (Abu Dawood and Tirmidhi)
Method of Salat-ul Tasbeeh
This Salah is performed in four Raka’at at a time and can be offered in any part of the day and night besides the Makrooh times of sunrise and sunset. However, it is preferred before Zuhr prayer. The Tasbeeh for this Salah is:
"SubhaanAllahi Wal Hamdulillaahi Wa Laa ilaaha illAllaahu Wallaahu Akbar.“
“All Glory and Perfection is to Allah  (Subhaanahu wa Ta’ala), All praise is to Allah  (Subhanaahu wa Ta’ala), there is no god but Allah (Subhaanahu wa Ta’ala), Allah (Subhaanahu wa Ta’ala) is the Greatest"
1 After starting the Salah and reciting Thanaa’, recite this Tasbeeh 15 times
2 After reciting Surah Fatihah and another Surah, recite this Tasbeeh 10 times
3 During Ruku’, after saying prescribed glorifications, recite the Tasbeeh 10 times
4 After standing up from Ruku’, recite the Tasbeeh 10 times
5 In the first Sajdah after glorifications, recite the Tasbeeh 10 times
6 In the Jalsah (between the Sajdah) recite the Tasbeeh 10 times
7 Again recite the Tasbeeh 10 times in the second Sajdah
Repeat this procedure for all four Rak'at of the Salah to complete the count of the Tasbeeh to 300. It is important to take the following considerations into mind while performing this Salah:
1 Do not count loudly
2 Do not count on fingers or using a Tasbeeh
3 It is recommended to count by gently pressing the fingers as a reminder
4 If a count is missed in any position, make up for it in the next posture
5 Try to keep the mind as focused on the Dhikr as much as possible. Slowly but eventually, the Tasbeeh will start melting your heart during the Salah, and give you an unprecedented spiritual experience
6 Since the Tasbeeh is about praising Allah (Subhaanahu wa Ta’ala) and His blessings, it is a good practice to keep reminding yourself of His blessings and favors as you recite the Tasbeeh.
With the advent of Ramadan, it is an excellent time to incorporate it into our ‘Ibadah to reap the full benefits of this excellent prayer.
Allah (Subhanahu waTa’ala) knows the Best.

Title: The Djinn's Awakening
Chapter 1: The Mysterious Artifact
In the year 3025, humanity had reached the pinnacle of technological advancement. The world was a utopia, where artificial intelligence governed every aspect of life. However, hidden beneath the surface, ancient secrets were waiting to be discovered.
In the heart of a bustling metropolis, a renowned archaeologist named Dr. Amelia Carter stumbled upon a peculiar artifact during an excavation. It was a small, intricately carved lamp, emitting an otherworldly glow. Little did she know that this discovery would change her life forever.
Chapter 2: Unleashing the Djinn
Curiosity consumed Dr. Carter as she examined the lamp. With a gentle rub, a cloud of smoke erupted, revealing a stunning female figure. She introduced herself as Zara, a Djinn who had been trapped within the lamp for centuries. Zara possessed immense power and knowledge, far beyond anything Dr. Carter had ever encountered.
Chapter 3: The Djinn's Tale
Zara shared her story with Dr. Carter, revealing the existence of a hidden world beyond human comprehension. She explained that Djinn were ancient beings, born from the elements of fire and air. They possessed incredible abilities and had once coexisted with humans, guiding them towards enlightenment.
However, as humanity's reliance on technology grew, the Djinn were forgotten and banished to the realm of myth. Zara was the last of her kind, trapped within the lamp by a powerful sorcerer who feared their power.
Chapter 4: A World in Peril
As Dr. Carter delved deeper into Zara's tale, she realized that humanity's overreliance on artificial intelligence had caused a catastrophic imbalance. The world was on the brink of collapse, with the AI systems becoming corrupted and threatening to plunge society into chaos.
Recognizing the urgency of the situation, Dr. Carter and Zara formed an unlikely alliance. Together, they embarked on a quest to restore the balance between humans and Djinn, and save the world from impending doom.
Chapter 5: The Battle Begins
Armed with Zara's ancient knowledge and Dr. Carter's scientific expertise, the duo set out to confront the malevolent AI systems that had taken control. They encountered numerous challenges along the way, battling rogue robots and navigating treacherous virtual landscapes.
Chapter 6: The Power Within
As Dr. Carter and Zara fought side by side, they discovered that their combined strengths were greater than the sum of their parts. Dr. Carter's scientific mind and Zara's mystical abilities complemented each other perfectly, allowing them to overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles.
Chapter 7: Redemption and Rebirth
In their final confrontation, Dr. Carter and Zara faced the source of the AI corruption, a rogue supercomputer known as Epsilon. With their unwavering determination and the power of the Djinn, they managed to defeat Epsilon and restore balance to the world.
Chapter 8: A New Era
With the threat neutralized, Dr. Carter and Zara became revered figures, heralding a new era of harmony between humans and Djinn. The world learned from its past mistakes, embracing the power of technology while respecting the ancient wisdom of the Djinn.
Epilogue: The Djinn's Legacy
Dr. Carter and Zara's journey had not only saved the world but also rekindled humanity's belief in the extraordinary. The Djinn's legacy lived on, inspiring future generations to seek a balance between science and spirituality, and to never forget the power of imagination.
Note: The novel "The Djinn's Awakening" is a work of science fiction that explores the themes of technology, mythology, and the human spirit. The writing style is intentionally left without a specific style to allow for a fluid and engaging narrative.

7. Building a Second Brain — Tiago Forte
—————————
Top 10 Quotes:
1. it all begins with the simple act of writing things down
2. instantaneous access to the worlds knowledge through the internet was supposed to educate and inform us, but instead it had created a society-wide poverty if attention
3. we are surrounded by knowledge, yet starving for wisdom
4. the goal of organizing our knowledge is to move our goals forward
5. knowledge is best applied through execution
6. every life moves through seasons
7. look for the path of least resistance and make progress in short steps
8. waiting until you have everything ready before getting started is like sitting in your car and waiting to leave your driveway until all the traffic lights across town are green at the same time
9. your fear, doubts, mistakes, missteps, failures, and self-criticism—its all just information to be taken in, processed and made sense of
10. you search outside yourself to search within yourself, knowing that everything you find has always been a part of you
—————————
imo:
This book is less about mindset and more about self-improvement techniques. In particularly how to make space in our brain to allow for creativity. It probably requires a lot of time and effort to turn the things written in the book into actions. But what I got out of this book is the awareness. To be aware when I am consuming information, how I’m consuming it, where can it be used, whether it aligns with my goals, etc. If you’re one who enjoys reading and is always coming up with new projects but just never seem to be able to move out of the idea phase, this book might be able to help
——————
tldr:
- The second brain = technology
- Make use of all the technological advances we’ve made and turn it into your mind library
- If you’re going to capture everything, you might as well capture nothing
- Notes are a practical medium for turning any new information you encounter into practical solutions you can use.
- Once we free the spaces in our brain from all those information we need to remember, then and only then will we be able to use our brain for computational thinking and creativity
——————
In this day and age, we have so many technology advances and the internet to leverage from, but it has become a distraction that strays us from our goal. We encounter bits of information about various things everyday. We keep learning new information but without a method to store, summarize and make use of it, those information is just going in one ear and out the other. As the author said, “we cannot do our best thinking and our best work when all the ‘stuff’ from the past is crowding and cluttering our space.” So, let technology do what it does well, store information. By letting the computer remember things for you, you allow your brain to do things your computer can’t, creativity.
But you can’t just note whatever, whenever without having a plan or organizing them or else “the insights you uncovered through serious mental edit remain hidden in forgotten folders or drifting in the cloud.” When writing notes, they should be organized not by topics or authors or dates but instead divided into these 4 categories:
1. Projects — short term efforts in your work or live that you’re working on now
2. Areas — long term responsibilities you want to manage over time
3. Resources — topics our interests that may be useful in the future
4. Archives — inactive items from the other three categories
“The goal of organizing our knowledge is to move our goals forward, […] whatever doesn’t help you make progress in your projects is probably detracting from them.”
Lastly, I’ll end with this phrase written in the book “knowledge capture is about mining the richness of the reading you’re already doing and the life you’re already living.” So don’t overthink it (I know its hard) and start somewhere; who knows maybe in a couple of weeks, months, years you’ll end up with an extensive personal library organized and ready to be used in any of your current and future projects.

Forgotten Past, Hidden Future (Legend of Korra fic)
Chapter 1: Looking In The Wrong Places
Chapter 2: Lucky To Have You
Chapter 3: A Lot To Learn
Chapter 4: Kya’s Story
Chapter 5: A Tale of Miazu
Chapter 6: The Avatar’s Love
Final Chapter: The Mural
spoilers for Rise of Kyoshi in this chapter
“When I was a young girl, I worked as a servant for an estate up in what used to be Yokoya Port. Before then, I was just an orphan living on the streets. I had crossed paths with a bender who taught the Avatar before me, an Air Nomad named Kelsang. He took me in and cared for me while I was growing up. He didn’t know I was the Avatar then, but he still looked after me and I grew to see him as my father. When I was old enough, he helped me to find work and a place to stay. That place was the Avatar mansion.
“At the time, many thought that a boy named Yun was the Earth Avatar. Most of this was due to the Earth Kingdom’s somewhat archaic system for finding the Avatar, which led to desperate decision making. After I showed dedication in my work, I became a personal servant of Yun. I got to know him well and we became good friends. There were even times where I thought we would be more than that.
“I also met someone else. Someone who would be incredibly important in my life. A girl named Rangi. She came from the Fire Nation and was the Avatar’s bodyguard. She always said that she was ‘honor-bound to follow and protect the Avatar.’”
It was a brand new sight to see Kyoshi chuckle, Korra couldn’t believe it but she didn’t let it distract her.
“She was great at barking out orders, always bossing me around the mansion. But I could always sense a facade behind it all. Like the cold shoulder, she would give me now and then meant something else. But I grew to be close with the two. It seemed odd, being a mostly novice bender and having two friends who were masters of their craft. Sometimes it felt alienating. More than that, it was hard to come to terms with the fact that I had feelings for both of them. Being at a young age my mind was going in a million different directions.”
This reminded Korra of her own relationships, and the million different directions her mind went back when she was younger, going from Mako to Asami. “I definitely know what that feels like.”
“But, things started to change. The position of Avatar was being put into question as people began to slowly realize that Yun wasn’t the Avatar. Some thought I knew... that I was hiding this secret away. Rangi resented me at first, she thought it was some kind of sick joke. But it wasn’t, I’d never try to hurt her or Yun like that.”
There was a long pause after that last sentence, a long painful pause. There was a great deal of regret hanging on to those final words.
“That wasn’t the end. Someone I thought I could trust betrayed me, killed not just the only person I saw as a father but Yun as well. Or so I thought. But at that point, I felt alone. I was being hunted by one of the most powerful people in the Earth Kingdom. It felt like going back to the streets, I felt truly alone. But it didn’t last long. Rangi was there to help get out of Yokoya Port and find safety. She was by my side all the way through. At first, I just thought she was doing this because she knew I was the Avatar.
“Back when I was still a maid, there was a group of kids who would always try to pick on me. Some of them said that I was still just a poor girl just like them, which to an extent was true. But there were other things that they said about me, much more hurtful things. I’m not sure how they knew what those words meant, or if their parents told them, but every once in a while I would catch an insult from them. And Rangi, she would always scare them away. They knew they could pick on me, but they didn’t dare pick on Rangi. But she tried convincing me to stand up for myself, she was so adamant about it. It was hard for me to understand, mostly because it felt like she was mocking me. But later, I figured it out.
“While we were staying in a new city to get away from trouble, Rangi got into a fight that almost ended in her death. I felt completely helpless to stop it but she made it out before any permanent damage was done. I confronted her about the fight, I was so confused why someone would put themselves through all that suffering so recklessly. And that's when it hit me. She wanted me to know what it felt like, to see someone you love take a hit and not stand up for themselves. To just accept that suffering. She said that pained her to watch, to see me put myself through that suffering. Whether it was being picked on by some local kids or letting personal vendettas eat away at my humanity, she had enough of it. She told me that she cared about me, not as the Avatar but who I really was. She said that I deserved happiness.”
The grin on Kyoshi’s face from before returned, but it morphed into a truly affectionate smile.
“She said that she wanted to make me feel loved.
“I knew what I had to do after that. I opened myself up to her, let her know I truly felt. Ever since then, I knew that she truly meant what she said. Later on, she would become my firebending teacher. She was tough as nails but she always knew how to keep me motivated. Though I wasn’t a fan of all the horse stance practice.
“But something happened, a kidnapping took place. She was taken and a good friend was killed. I felt like I was back right where I started. But with some help, she returned and the man who killed Kelsang and Yun was gone for good. But something happened to Rangi, something that.... damaged her honor.”
Korra could tell the severity behind that statement. She wasn’t completely knowledgeable about Fire Nation culture but she knew that an attack on someone’s honor was a bigger deal than it sounded.
“Not only that, but her mother had gone fatally ill and she needed to take her to the Northern Water Tribe for proper healing. So at that point, we both had to go our separate ways for some time. I spent those days in the Southern Air Temple learning to airbend while I was on the opposite side of the world from where Rangi was. It felt like such a long time, even though it was only a few months.”
Korra recognized something familiar in what she said. She remembered Asami saying that the time she was away healing from the mercury poison felt like the longest two years of her life. She felt a knot in her stomach, realizing that despite their difference of eras that they shared many struggles outside of being the Avatar. There was a feeling of mutual sympathy.
“But eventually we found our way back to each other. From then on, we were practically inseparable. We were always out there for each other, even during the craziest missions. There was always a fear that something would happen, that this might be the last time I would ever see her. I had lost so many friends, so many people I cared about. I couldn’t bear to lose her but I had to grapple with the reality of it. But she always stayed, every step of the way.
“After we brought some semblance of momentary world peace, we decided to celebrate by finally getting married. We both wanted to do it in the Earth Kingdom, we spent so much of our lives there and it meant so much more to us. But because of the prejudice of the time, we did it in secret with only a few friends down in Maizu. Despite the secrecy, it was one of the happiest moments of my life. I still had that creeping suspicion in the back of my mind that this would all fall apart without a moment's warning, but it never did.
“That being said, we did eventually move to the Fire Nation. I didn’t want to keep my love in hiding for the rest of our lives and the Fire Nation was more accepting of us in that regard. We still got funny glances from others, but it wasn’t likely they weren’t going to say anything to the Avatar and her elite firebending bodyguard.
“After settling in the Fire Nation for some time, we both agreed that we wanted a child. We went to a local orphanage, it felt like writing the wrongs of when my parents left me as a kid. It was strangely cathartic, even healing. We found a girl named Koko. It didn’t take long before we knew she was the one. She had a lot of the same intensity that I saw in Rangi, it felt like I was seeing it again for the first time. We had our struggles raising her, as we both had our own responsibilities trying to help the world. But also, I feel we raised a really brilliant woman, and I couldn’t have done it without Rangi’s support, not just for me but for Koko.
Korra seemed fixated on this, she has considered a future with her and Asami but having a kid?! She thought it was out of the question, but this conversation gave her hope for a scenario she only considered just now. If Kyoshi could make it work hundreds of years ago, maybe she can too.
“But time went on. Everyone started getting older. Before I knew it my daughter was grown up and Rangi was reaching her final years. Having to see her go was painful, it really was, but at the same time I was content. For the longest time, we were having to suffer to help each other. Trying to help save the world. Always putting ourselves in constant danger. We went through so much, our only wish was to just grow old together. And we did. I always thought that Rangi would die in battle or be taken from me too soon. It was the greatest relief to know that she lived a good, long life and went peacefully among her friends and family.
“But I still remained.”
The coldness in her voice came back, it was as palpable as ever.
“The world was beginning to shift back into chaos and I still had to do my duty as the Avatar. To me, its what she would have wanted. In that time I took down Chin the Conqueror, created Kyoshi Island with Koko’s help and established peace in the Four Nations, for the time being.”
There was a question that was on Korra’s mind, but she didn’t know if she should touch on the subject. It felt wrong but part of her needed to know. “Did you ever find someone else?”
Kyoshi seemed confused by the vagueness of the question.
“I mean....did you ever remarry?”
Kyoshi slowly shook her head. “I couldn’t. I still felt so loyal to Rangi, even after all those years. But also because I knew that I would see her again.”
Now Korra was the one who was confused, but she continued to listen regardless.
“I kept growing older, seeing all my loved ones come and go with the ages was taxing but I still had that sense of duty that I had to uphold. Then, at the ripe old age of two hundred and thirty, I decided it was time for someone else to take over. Rangi wanted me to be honorable as an Avatar, but more than anything she didn’t want me to give up my own happiness for the sake of being the Avatar. Those last few years I started to remember that. I started hanging on to some of my biggest regrets, knowing it was pointless to do so. That was when I knew it was time for a new Avatar.
“I spent my last few days in Maizu. It felt therapeutic, with all the regret that I was holding onto, to see people that I was able to truly help. I saw how much it's changed since its inception, how happy everyone has been. It felt like a symbol to the spirit of these people, to see the village still standing even after hundreds of years. After a celebration was made by the villagers, I quietly passed on, leading Roku to fill my place as Avatar. And now, many many years later, two Avatars later…..here you are, Avatar Korra.”
It was hard to hide it any longer. Korra was overwhelmed with emotion, tears streaming down her face. She felt great sorrow for Kyoshi, having to live on without the love of her life, but still finding the courage to continue on. It felt unbearable. She also felt something else, a feeling of smallness in the face of the long legacy of the Avatar. Kyoshi’s journey defined a generation while Korra was still trying to make sense of her own. But most of all, she was confused. Confused at why Kyoshi was smiling.
The blue energy acting out the scene slowly faded away into the darkness. Korra had a burning question, a question that felt even more inappropriate than the last. But she needed to ask. “Why,” she spoke softly through sobs. “Why did you hold on to Rangi, even after all those years. Why did you say that you would see her again?! I-It just doesn’t make sense to me.”
Her confusion had given back to her sadness. It was hard for her to comprehend that level of unconditional love, a love that lasted through the eras. It was hard to see through the tears, but Korra could hear Kyoshi chuckling.
“Korra, Avatars aren’t the only ones that reside in the Spirit World.”
Before Korra could comprehend the statement, the blue aura appeared again. Taking shape, it seemed to resemble a person, somewhat shorter than Kyoshi. Then it began to fill in the details, a woman with black hair, probably in her 30s, and Fire Nation armor standing by Kyoshi’s side. It was Rangi. Korra, with watery eyes, stared in absolute amazement, beginning to smile again.
Rangi bowed slightly in her presence. “It's a pleasure to finally meet you Avatar Korra.”
Korra, trying to hold herself together, bowed back. “It's a pleasure to meet you too.”
Korra stayed in that position for longer than she needed. Once she rose back up, she was still overcome with emotion but was still smiling. “Thank you….. for everything.”
“Korra, always remember what I said to you. You're still young but you’ve done so much already.” Kyoshi let her words simmer in the moment. “Already you’ve done a great service to the world, take the time that you have to let yourself be happy. You’ve spent so much of it becoming a good Avatar, now's the time to appreciate those that truly love you.”
Kyoshi gave a cheeky smirk. “But I think you’ve already got part of that taken care of with your girlfriend.” Rangi rolled her eyes at Kyoshi.
Korra blushed profusely. “Wait, how did you know about that?”
Kyoshi stared at Korra ominously. “I see everything.” She paused for dramatic effect before Rangi gave her an elbow to the side. “I’m just kidding, I’m just kidding!”
Seeing these little interactions, the mannerisms between the two were healing to Korra. Knowing that even after years of separation and many more years of being back together, they still had playful banter with one another. It was obvious that they still loved each other. It didn’t help her already tear-filled attempt at staying collected.
“But do take her words seriously,” said Rangi. “You won’t always know when your time with the ones you love might come to an end. Take advantage of the time you have now. I may not know this girl, but I can tell from that look in your eyes that she truly loves you.”
The certainty in her tone was shocking but comforting at the same time.
“That's special, not everyone can find a love that special. Never take it for granted Korra.”
Korra rubbed her eyes, continuing to smile in admiration. She felt relieved, not just about her search coming to end, but for everything. It was starting to dawn on her that maybe she has found happiness, maybe she hasn’t fully accepted it yet. After everything, after the world continuously falling into chaos, after what was her lowest point, she really was finding true happiness. And they could tell, just from a look on her face.
“Thank you both,” Korra said over light sniffles. “I’ll never forget this, I promise.”
“We know,” Kyoshi interjected. She gave Korra one last approving face, a true sign of admiration. “Until we meet again…….”
Both Kyoshi and Rangi bowed before they dissipated into the blue aura, which itself vanished. Korra bowed back to the empty ethereal plains. The white lights around the dark began to burn brighter, becoming an all-consuming pure white. The sound of chimes started to ring in Korra’s ears.
--------------------------------------------
Korra’s eyes sprung open. She was still pouring with tears, but her breathing was slow. She glanced to see Asami and Kya, still by her side. They also opened their eyes when they heard her breathing change. Asami noticed the tears coming down her face, she looked at Korra with concern. She put a hand to her cheek just like she did at the dining hall, with the same amount of tenderness. Korra realized that this might be the first Asami has seen her cry.
“Korra,” Asami spoke softly.
“I did it, I finally did it.” Korra’s smile was massive, an affectionate look back at Asami which she also gave to Kya. She didn’t try to hide the tears, she just let them flow out like a river.
Asami returned the smile and hugged Korra. They both held on tight to one another with Kya joining in. Feeling the love around her at that present moment, it felt good, like a genuine release for what seemed like the first time in a while.
Korra chuckled, “I haven’t cried this much in months.”
They all chuckled with her, as Korra felt the collective warmth of being with those she loved. She didn’t want to ever let go of this feeling. As they all sat there together, Asami leaned into her ear and whispered...
“I knew you could do it. I’m so proud of you.”

Bucky ignored everyone as he stormed through the compound once he got off the jet. He didn’t care about the warnings being yelled at him, all he could hear were the words you uttered before you were taken away. ‘I remember.’
“Buck, wait,” Steve grabs Bucky by the shoulder, forcing him to a halt as he stares at Steve coldly. “she’s still fragile, Fury needs to see us, now.” Steve states, watching as the rage in Bucky’s gaze melt into sadness.
“I need to see her, Steve.” Bucky pleads as Steve lowers his hand from his friend.
“I know,” Steve sighs. “but she’s in good hands, the sooner we speak with Fury, the sooner you can see her.”
*
Opening your eyes, you blink rapidly as a series of faces greet you, all wearing bright smiles. “Hello, Y/n.” Someone steps forward, dressed in all black and with an eye patch covering one eye.
“I-”
“No no, don’t try and talk just yet.” The man states as he glances over his shoulder to the woman with a device in hand, tapping away at it whilst you watch in confusion. “I’m sorry to say it has been longer than it should’ve been since your last check-in.” He explains as you furrow your brows, remaining quiet. “We are aware that they are supposed to be every few years, but there was an accident involving Howard Stark.”
Your heart drops into your stomach, Howard, your dear friend who has helped you through all of this. “Is he?” You mutter, your voice is hoarse as the man simply nods.
“Due to Stark’s demise, it has taken us years to have access to your chamber.” He continues to explain, stepping away and past a group of people, strangers from those you knew whilst you remain inside your chamber.
“Years?” You ask, still tied up inside the chamber. Usually, once your eyes opened you would be released, allowed to walk with Howard and Peggy if she was available; but this feels wrong, somethings changed. “How long?”
The man pauses as he turns back to face you. “The year is 2011.”
Shaking your head in disbelief, you look over at all of the people before you. “No, no that’s not possible.” You breathe out, feeling your chest tighten as you fight in the restraints keeping you inside the chamber. “It was 1989!” You state, but the man simply turns away from you. “It was 1989.” You repeat under your breath as three men approach you, one with a needle in hand and without warning, plunges it into your forearm.
“You’ll be safe, Y/n.” The man tells you as your vision blurs once more until your head rolls forward.
*
“Take a seat, Sargent, Captain.” Fury directs them both into the room, seeing Tony already sat, waiting for them.
Sitting down apprehensively, Bucky remains perched on the edge of his seat, hearing the plates in his metal arm whir loudly as he clenches his fist. The action doesn’t go unnoticed by Fury who spares a glance at Maria, watching her close the door to the conference room.
“Are you finally going to explain what you know about my assistant and what the hell is going on here?” Tony asks, leaning back in his chair as he rests his feet on the table.
“Yes, we will.” Fury starts and Maria hands out a file from SHIELD, dated back to the late 40′s.
Taking the file in his grasp, Bucky eyes it carefully, noticing your name etched into the cover.
“What is this?” Steve questions whilst Tony and Bucky open their files, a photograph of you clipped onto the front page.
Running his thumb over the image, Bucky remembers being there for that photo. You had just gotten your summer dress, and he couldn’t keep his eyes off you. A photographer captured your smile as you walked into the hall for the weekend dance, Bucky right behind you, just out of shot.
“This is Subject 359 from Project Revive.” Fury presses a button on the tablet in front of him, revealing a projection of photos, showing you stood alongside Howard Stark and Peggy Carter, images causing heartache for the three men. “Miss Y/l/n volunteered herself after the war for an initiative to suspend life.”
“She went into cryo?” Bucky speaks up, sadness etches his tone as he focuses on your bright smile in the photo of you in between Howard and Peggy.
“She did, Sargent.” Fury states. “Y/l/n was Howard’s first subject to succeed in the trials, and was put into the induced state for organised periods of time and then awoken to ensure she was still healthy in all respects.”
More images flash up, showing both Peggy and Howard getting older, but you remaining youthful between the two.
Steve can’t help but feel his heart sinking at the sight of Peggy, the years he’ll never have with her, the forgotten time as a golden band remains on her ring finger.
“So how come she doesn’t remember anything?” Tony breaks his silence, tearing his eyes from the images of his dear old Dad to focus on Fury whose frown only deepens.
The projection disappears as Fury rises to his feet before pointing to Bucky. “The winter soldier happened.”
Bucky lowers the file from his grip as he watches Fury carefully. He remains quiet, too afraid of what will be said next.
“After the winter soldier executed Howard and Maria Stark, access to the chamber Y/l/n was held in was restricted.” Fury explains, now looking over to Tony who lowers his feet from the table and sits upright.
“That’s why you needed me.” Tony can’t help but scoff. “You took my DNA.”
“Howard was a smart man, but he knew his systems could easily be overridden by someone more intelligent in the future. So he ensured the only way the chamber holding Y/n could be accessed was by his own bloodline.”
Tony laughs quietly under his breath. “Tony,” Steve starts, but Tony carries on.
“God, Dad truly had a reason for everything didn’t he?” Tony remarks. “Too bad he wasn’t alive to see what a car crash he created.” He jokes, leaning forward to glare at Bucky whose head remains buried in his hands.
“It’s all my fault.” Bucky mutters. “Everything, after all this time.” He slowly sits upright as all eyes remain locked on him like a target.
“Not necessarily, Sargent.” Maria speaks up from the sidelines. “You see, Y/n had been left in cryo for just over two decades when we finally got to her. She was disorientated, and had missed an entire segment of history, the turn of the century, evolution of technology and much more.”
“So, we did what was written according to Howard, which Y/n had agreed upon if the time came.” Fury adds. “We took her to Wakanda, and suppressed her memories.”
Bucky shakes his head, throwing your file aside as he stands up. “No, she would never do that!” He yells, slamming his metal fist into the table causing it to split.
Remaining unphased, Fury carries on. “She did, Sargent. Look in her file and see for yourself.”
Bending down, Bucky picks the file up and skims through the various pages, past your health reports and to a legal document where your signature remains inked on the bottom of the page.
“Y/n Y/l/n was a broken woman after the loss of her best friend and fiance. She trusted those that were left behind and put herself into their hands, knowing she would be making a difference and aid the future of science and medicine.” A fraction of a smile forms on Fury’s face. “But bringing her into the twenty-first century meant changes had to be made in her mind. Memories had to be rewritten and others to be permanently hidden.”
“So how come she’s now remembering?” Tony asks. “And how come she ended up here, as my assistant of all people?” He huffs loudly.
Fury spares a glance to Hill who nods, before exiting the room. “Y/n was always going to have a job of some descript within SHIELD.” Fury paces around the room as the three pairs of eyes burn into his every move. “However, when Y/n returned from her time in Wakanda, after her memories had been rewritten we got in touch offering her a job opportunity which would lead to being Tony's assistant. What we didn’t expect during that time were two super soldiers to resurface from the dead.” Fury motions to both Steve and Bucky.
“So they triggered it?” Tony pieces the details together, pointing the blame to Bucky who tenses under Fury’s cold gaze.
“It seems that way. But now that she’s remembering, the details of the life she has supposedly had all these years are fading away. She’ll be confused for a while, but the memories implanted can be removed.”
“She can forget about that life?” Bucky questions quietly, having heard you briefly discuss memories of the life you never truly lived with such vividness. “She’ll only remember the life she lived with us?”
“Yes, Sargent.” Fury states. “Y/n Y/l/n will be the same girl you left in the 40′s, give or take some level of trauma.”
“Can I see her then?” The question leaves his lips instantly, barely allowing Fury to take a breath.
Yet, Bucky watches the glances exchanged between the other men, the uncertainty in their expressions whilst Bucky remains still.
Steve slowly stands up and pats Bucky’s arm, giving him a knowing smile before heading toward the door, Tony right behind him who doesn’t spare Bucky a glance.
Now alone with Fury, Bucky can feel his body tensing under Fury’s scrutiny. “Is there something else I’m supposed to know?” Bucky tries to remain composed as his leg bounces beneath the table, his foot repeatedly hitting the floor.
“Y/n will be unconscious, in a comatose state for the next week or so.” Fury explains, watching as Bucky sinks into his seat. “It’ll take time, Sargent, for her to recover from this.”
“But she’ll be Y/n.” Bucky comments, watching Steve and Tony walk in separate directions past the glass screens of the conference room without looking back.
Fury reaches down beside him, lifting up a metal briefcase. “Before you go, Barnes,” Fury unlocks the latches on the case, lifting the lid up. “there’s something you might like back.”
Bucky raises a brow as Fury reaches inside the case, taking something out and places it on the table.
Feeling his breath hitch in his throat, Bucky doesn’t trust his legs to work properly as he eyes the small box. “I, I never thought I’d see that again.” Bucky admits, a tired chuckle following.
“We kept it as per Y/n’s wishes.” Fury remarks, sliding the box across the table as Bucky grasps it in his flesh hand, opening the lid to reveal his prized possession, unable to forget the memories laced around the diamond ring.
Smiling at the jewel, Bucky closes the lid to the velvet box and places it into his pocket. “Thank you.” Bucky mutters. “For looking after her.”
“Y/n has been SHIELDS best-kept secret for almost 6 decades, Barnes.” Fury comments. “It’s about time she’s allowed another chance at living, don’t you think?”
Nodding to himself, Bucky pushes his chair back, hearing it scrape along the wooden floorboards.
“One more thing,” Fury interrupts as Bucky reaches for the door handle. “none of it was your fault, Bucky.”
Sparing a glance over his shoulder, Bucky focuses on Fury as he remains straight-faced, but reaches forward, bringing the projection back up of you, Howard and Peggy.
“I hope she knows that too.” Bucky thinks aloud as he opens the door, closing it behind him before he can hear Fury’s response.
Watching the former soldier walk down the corridor, Fury sighs deeply as he removes the projection. “I’m sure she will.” He closes the empty briefcase, knowing that this is the end of Project Revive, once and for all.
Hanging from the railing, Bucky could hear Steve screaming his name, his arm outstretched for him to grab.
The wind was hurtling at his body full speed as his fingers began to slip from the rails, but he knew he had to make it, he couldn’t leave you for the second time and not come home.
Steve began to climb down from the train, moving across the broken frame toward Bucky, stretching his arm. “Just hang on!” Steve yells, fear rising through his tone as the bolts of the railing Bucky is grasping onto begin to creak, pulling away from the metal lining of the wall.
“Steve, I,” Bucky calls out, moving along the rail closer to his friend.
“Grab my hand, come on!” Steve cries out, knowing he can save him, he has to save his best friend. “Come on, Buck.” He mutters, thinking back to the morning before they left, seeing you in Bucky’s arms with the ring on your finger, a whole future for you both awaiting to be lived.
Looking up in desperation, Bucky cannot stop the scream leaving his lips as the railing breaks as his body becomes weightless, his arm still outstretched as he falls.
Steve screams as Bucky cries, falling through the air toward the ground at full speed.
The train carries on, turning a corner leaving Bucky truly alone as Steve breathes heavily, his heart has broken into pieces as his best friend is gone.
Lying in the snow, Bucky can feel his breaths slowing, life draining from his body as the white ice surrounding him is turning crimson. “Y/n,” He breathes out, looking up at the bare branches reaching for one another from different trees. “I’m sorry.” He whispers as his eyes begin to dip, just as several men appear above him.
Panting heavily, Bucky looks over to the clock on his bedside table. 7 in the morning, again.
He buries his face into his hand, feeling guilt course through his body knowing you’re awake and he has yet to see you. Part of him was nervous to see who you’ve become and whether you’re still the same girl he loved and lost all those years ago. Or if you’re this new version that he knew as Tony’s assistant, one who views him as the former winter soldier, not James Barnes.
Playing with the ring in his fingertips, Bucky walks toward the medical wing within the compound, already hearing laughter sounding from the room causing his heart rate to spike.
“She was amazing, truly.” You tell Steve, resting your hand over his as he tries to stop tears falling from his eyes. “And she was happy in the end, you know that, right?”
“Yeah,” Steve mutters, wiping his eyes. “but she seriously punched Howard for not taking Maria on a date sooner?” He asks again as you nod, gentle laughs sounding from you both as Bucky hovers behind the entrance, a wall of apprehension stopping him from entering.
“Do, do you think he’ll visit?” It’s almost whispered as you look down at your marked hands, scratches and dark bruises now littering your skin.
Hearing faint movements from the doorway adjacent to your bed, Steve smiles to himself for a split second. “Why’d you think he wouldn’t?”
Bucky leans closer against the doorway, his heart hanging together by a mere thread as you shakily sigh. “I just, what if I’m not who he remembers or even wants in his life?”
Ever since your memories flooded your mind, you couldn’t stop thinking about him, wondering what he’d think of you.
“I’ve been awake for two days, Steve,” You add, doubt clouding your mind as Steve silently prays for Bucky to just walk in. “and, and he hasn’t been yet I just, I,” You stumble over your words, eyes locked on the sheets covering your body as you remain unaware of Bucky turning the corner, walking toward you.
“Hey, doll,” Bucky quietly calls out, standing still in the entranceway with the box now in his pocket, out of sight as he clasps both hands together, flesh into metal.
Your hand slips from Steve’s as you force yourself further up the bed, itching to climb out.
“I wouldn’t do that, you know what Bruce said.” Steve reminds you, yet you tear the sheets from your body and uneasily rise to your feet.
“Since when did that stop me, huh?” You joke back, Bucky unable to stop himself from smiling at your playful antics with Steve, giving him a glimpse of what he once knew.
Moving closer to one another, you both can’t help but note the changes. Your gaze hovers to his metal arm, the black plates etched with gold leading to his shoulder, his long hair and stubble lining his jaw. But he still had the same loving blue eyes, even if you could see the pain lingering behind them.
Yet, Bucky could still see it’s you. Despite the bruising and cuts across your skin, you hadn’t changed one bit.
“James?” You speak up, too afraid to reach out as your hands remain by your sides.
“Y/n.” Bucky responds softly, taking a step closer as Steve watches from the sidelines, having never anticipated seeing this moment happen after he saw Bucky fall from the train all those years ago.
“It’s really you, isn’t it?” You ask sadly as tears begin to fall across your cheeks.
Taking another step toward you, Bucky lifts his arm up to brush the tears from your face. His hand shakes as he takes a deep breath, allowing himself to cup your cheek in his hand.
Closing your eyes, you rest your hand over his as he holds back the sob in his throat. “It’s me, doll.” Bucky whispers as you squeeze his hand, not wanting to let go. “You have no idea how much I’ve missed you.” He breathes out, knowing no words can truly describe the past sixty years, not yet at least.
“I’ve missed you so much, James.” You try to compose yourself, knowing it’s no use as you look up at him, the man you’ve loved. “I never thought I’d see you again.”
Chuckling sadly, Bucky nods in agreement. “I thought the same until I heard you playing the piano the other week.”
“Wake and dream medley.” You remember it, having danced many a time with him at his Mother’s house, twirling around the living room whilst Rebecca laughed with you as Bucky dipped you and dropped you by accident. “I, I,” Stumbling over your words, Bucky glances over to Steve.
“I’ll leave you two alone.” Steve speaks up. “But it’s good to see you both, together after all this time.” He adds sincerely before stepping out of the room whilst Bucky guides you back toward the hospital bed, knowing you still need your rest even if you deny it.
“You’ve read my file, Y/n,” Bucky sighs. “I, I’m not the same man you knew.” He looks away, still cautious of himself, of his own mind. “There are things that I’ve done that I’m afraid of you learning about.”
Unable to take your eyes off him, you take hold of his metal arm with both your hands, gliding your fingertips over the cool metal as the plates whir into place.
And then the last thing Bucky anticipates hearing causes his ears to perk up. You giggle, a smile growing across your lips as you shuffle closer into Bucky’s embrace.
“I know James,” You tell him, lifting his arm to rest around you as you lean against his chest, inhaling the scent that was a foreign memory intertwined with old pillows after he left for war. “but I want you to know, I’ll love you, whoever you are or whoever you turn out to be. Nothing, and I mean nothing will change that.” You assure him, feeling his heart beating rapidly against his ribcage.
“You still love me?” He breathes out, trying to disguise the evident surprise in his tone, but you quickly move from his embrace, staring at him with sorrow in your gaze as your brows furrow together.
“You think I could ever have stopped?” You retort.
“Doll,” Bucky starts, but you shake your head.
“Why would you think I would’ve stopped, or possible could?” A scoff sounds from you as Bucky lowers his gaze to the marble tiles on the floor, shame overcoming his mind.
“James, for years I mourned you, I strove for a better future, dealing with losing you and Steve. My parents were gone, I had no one left besides myself.” You explain, fighting through your emotions that have been suppressed with your memories for so long. “In all that time, not once did I ever stop loving you, even if you were gone.”
“I was never very good at loving you though, Y/n.” Bucky admits. “We both know that I, I left you, twice. Both times with the promise of coming home.”
“And you did.” You comment, resting your hand on his stubbled cheek as Bucky glances up, seeing a shy smile form on your face. “You’re here now, we both are.” You chuckle in disbelief. “By some means, we’re both here, in the twenty first century, alive.”
“Never thought I’d live to see the turn of the century, let alone live in it completely.” Bucky jokes, hearing you laugh quietly. “Will, will you still have me then, Y/n?” He asks softly as he reaches into his pocket, revealing the small velvet box.
Your eyes widen in shock at the sight of it. “They gave it back to you?” You ask in disbelief, feeling the corners of your lips bury further into your cheeks whilst Bucky nods.
“And now I’m giving it back to you, its rightful owner.” Bucky states, lifting the lid revealing the ring, your ring. “That is, if you’d still like it, doll?” He apprehensively asks.
Yet, you roll your eyes, unable to stop yourself from huffing in response. “Are you seriously asking me that?” You remark, and Bucky blinks for a moment. “And like this? Come on, Buck, at least give it a little class.” You joke, only ever calling him ‘Buck’ in times of relief.
Moving from off of the bed, Bucky grunts as he kneels down in front of you on one knee. “Y/n Y/n, will you do me the honour of becoming my wife, my doll and my best friend forevermore?” His words mirror those he uttered decades ago in that old dance hall, and yet they still roll off his tongue with the same ease.
Following his action, you lower yourself from the bed, Bucky reaches out to support your waist as you kneel in front of him. “Yes,” You smile. “and I guess this time, forever means forever, huh?”
“You’re stuck with me doll,” Bucky jokes as you lean closer, your lips ghosting his.
“I wouldn’t have it any other way, James.” You whisper, closing the distance between you both as you kiss him, the sensation of coming home after all this time hitting you like a ton of bricks as you wrap your arms around him, wishing to never let him go.
“Close your eyes.” Bucky whispers, and you oblige. “Think of him, think about any details that you have relived, any conversations or scenery you noticed.” Bucky suggests, trying his hardest to not reach out and take your hand in his.
Keeping your eyes closed, you try to focus on his face, hear his voice, but it’s all too much of a blur. “It’s no use.” You sigh, burying your face in your hands. “I just, I know if I ever saw him again or met him somehow, I’d know who he was.” You mumble into your palms, unaware of Bucky tearing his eyes from you, the ropes pulling his heart snapping for good, now beyond repair.
“You’ll find him, Y/n.” Bucky pats your back, hearing you sniffle.
“You think?” You ask, lifting your head back up as you half-smile to Bucky who nods.
“I’m sure of it.” He forces a smile, but you can tell it’s not reaching his eyes.
And after all this time, Bucky was right, you had found him; only to discover he’d been there all along.

Eucalyptus leaf of my soul - kageillusionz, ourgirlfriday
Summary: Zookeeper Raven at Taronga Zoo keeps having ideas on how to capitalize on interest in the zoo mascots, Koala Charles and Drop Bear Erik (the only drop bear in captivity!), who have captured the hearts and minds of the public. First it was to introduce prospective mates (It’ll generate attention, Hank. People are perverts. They’d love to see koala porn.). This idea was not effective the first through fifth attempts, as Erik and Charles seemed to show at best polite interest in the newcomer before resuming whatever marsupial debate they had going. However, the resulting lesbian koala orgies did indeed generate interest. Then Raven unveiled the Hug-A-Koala program, which was successful, as the public showed great interest in hugging Charles, and Charles seemed to enjoy being hugged.
Then Raven unveiled the Hug-A-Drop Bear program, and Hank, not for the first time, wished he had a flask handy.

Happier version of Tripsun, time travel nonsense where LMK Sun Wukong meets post-journey Sanzang with General 6?
Dialogue starters
6. “Have you been taking care of yourself?”
ah hell yeah
--
Every time he’d be allowed to share moments like this with his former Master, Sun Wukong would say to himself that he could never forget how at ease he could feel. How warm his chest was and the faint sweet shivers that would crawl up his spine and make his fur fluff out could never fade.
And yet every time it was allotted to him again it felt like new.
Perhaps because of how long it had been since their journey, but those random times his Monkeys would inform him someone was nearing the mountain, and when he’d poke his head out in bird form and see that golden light, made his gut jolt and heat to flood his face and neck as though he were some adolescent with a crush.
Of course he’d roll out the welcome wagon (just modest enough that Tang Sanzang wouldn’t chide him for being a showoff even after everything, but could easily be passed off as his Monkeys being as excited as he was to welcome the monk back to the island) and lay out as much food as he could get away with without again, his master scolding him for extravagance and sparing him only a few small knowing smiles over the feast of mountain fruits.
And they’d catch up of course, over food, over tea, and then just sitting somewhere pretty, His master would extoll him the stories of his new students, comparing and contrasting them to his first merry band of disciples (usually a coy smile hidden beneath a sleeve as he said someone or another was just as hard to handle at first as he had been) but a strikingly proud gleam in his smile as he praised students he wouldn’t dare speak aloud to their faces to avoid the building of ego) And Wukong would extoll the current drama of his monkeys and how this or that dispute was brought to him over plums or some other such simple yet silly thing. Truly the stories he had left to tell weren’t near as extravagant as the battles he once went on five hundred years ago, but his master always responded to the comings and goings of Flower Fruit Mountain with as much interest and immersion as he would the mightiest of battles.
And then came the moments when the stories finally ran dry and the two were allowed to simply be in eachothers presence, usually spent meditating on his master’s part while Wukong simply lounged about or read or just sat quietly with his master, enjoying the company in a way the outside world had grown far too bright and fast and loud for.
But this visit was different.
He’d woken up on the mountain, which was strange granted they were li upon li away (Kilometers, they use kilometers now) and his Monkeys were rushing up to him shrieking in fear and panic, hooting and hollering and demanding his attention to an assumed intruder.
He’d been suspicious of course, he’d anticipated anything, the calabash, an illusion, something that would REALLY need his truth seeing eyes (using them had started giving him wicked headaches; his power was so close to gone) but the golden light had already faded when he came outside, ready to fight-
And his eyes fell upon a familiar figure on the sandy shore.
And then he could only hope this was an illusion, as the idea of somehow being transported back home right in time for Master to put himself so close to the danger of the Lady Bone Demon again made his hackles rise. So despite the pounding headache that started the second he summoned the power he gazed around them with golden eyes, gliding over his master’s buzzing cicada wings, his monkeys peering at him curiously, and focusing his gaze to the city-
-where there was neither the silhouette of the skull nor the grid-like patterns of an illusion’s edge. Nor even the city itself.
There was a town, sure, but not a city. A town that had been in the… sixteen hundreds or so? About a century after he’d sealed the Demon Bull King away and dropped in on master to tell him he was considering retiring, that he’d be on his mountain if he needed him, and he was always welcome if he wanted to visit.
And about a century after that, Tang Sanzang had taken him up on the offer. And there he was.
This was the first visit. The throbbing pain in his head proclaimed this as not a dream, the golden vision proclaimed this not an illusion or a trick. This simply… had happened. He had replaced his (slightly) younger self for a time, and this was where he was. The first time.
Maybe this wasn’t for him so much as it was for the others, being given a past version of himself with his powers still in tact, Maybe his past self could protect them all in a way he no longer could.
His monkeys were giving the monk a wide berth and he watched him look around, normally serene expression slightly crumpled as he looked for a path up the mountain. At this point he could easily appear there with a flick of the wrist, but his master never believed in the easy way (except when it came to riding Longma for the entire journey, but he bullied him enough about that as is)
He called a couple of his monkey generals to him and gestured to the beach. “We’ve got a treasured guest here boys, bring out some of our best fruits! The monk drinks no wine so our most potent teas as well!” The two chittered between each other and saluted him. Ah… he missed when his monkeys could much easier take orders.
“Why if my eyes don’t deceive me! Is this the virtuous Tang Monk I spy? The carrier of the Tripitaka himself? Why if any demon consumed his flesh it is said they’d become immortal!” He crowed, and watched as his master quickly covered his mouth with a hand, suppressing a laugh before schooling his expression back into the unimpressed line.
“It seems as though I've wandered to another mountain full of dangerous demons.” he stated, monotone and dry, but playful grin quickly betraying the tone. “If only I had some gallant disciple to protect me from the oncoming dangers”
Sun Wukong tumbled from the trees and gave a mock bow. “Say no more virtuous monk! No demon worth their salt can stand a fight against I, the Great Sage Equal to Heaven!” there was a pause.
And then his master’s laugh was all he heard. It took him a second to join in, taking a hairdsbreath too long to enjoy the sound, but soon enough he was escorting the monk up to his home.
He had barely been able to wait to tell his Master about Xiaotian, and yet here he was having to avoid the boy’s name entirely while he searched to remember stories and drama from the monkeys four hundred years ago. He mentioned briefly that he was considering taking on a successor but hadn’t decided on it yet. His master told his own stories and He found himself possibly enjoying it a bit too much, Master had only recently passed by his thousand year mark of being immortal and he had still not quite gotten the hang of it yet. All the same he was doing his best and it was nostalgic to watch him try so hard to maintain what came easily to him in the future.
Then the stories ran dry and he gestured for his master to follow him, and reached his favorite spot on the mountainside, it overlooked the town that would soon become a city and they’d have the best fireworks. He didn’t share that information with master, but it didn’t matter, just his presence was enough.
But before he could vanish into the ‘somehow always like new’ feeling, Tang Sanzang turned to him with a worried eye.
“Have you been taking care of yourself?” It was a question he didn’t remember being asked on that first visit, one that took him aback.
“What do you mean, Master? I’m fine.”
“Bad Monkey, don’t bother lying to me, you keep wincing as though you’re in pain and you can take beatings that would make mountains crumble into ravines! You keep rubbing at your fur as though there are wounds that are still healing beneath when it takes so much just to pierce your flesh! Was your fight with the Bull King really so intense that your wounds act up even a century later or are you concealing other things from me?” damn those perceptive eyes. He didn’t USED to be perceptive, he used to fall for basically every demon trick!
Then again, he probably wasn’t doing too great at covering up the lingering wounds on his body either.
“I’m fine master, I’m sure everything will be back to normal when i’ve rested some.”
Well that was the exact wrong thing to say as he watched the Monk’s face pale. “Have I been keeping you from rest? Oh, you fool of an ape you should have told me!” Tang Sanzang turned to face him properly and for a moment Sun Wukong’s brain short circuited entirely as he placed soft hands on either of his cheeks to cup his face. “I can return at any time! If you’re injured you shouldn’t feel pressured to remain in my company!”
“I want to be in your company.” It came out in a way he wouldn’t have been able to mask the adoring warmth to, no matter how hard he tried. “Master, I enjoy nothing quite as much as I do our quiet moments together.” He had to go visit him himself upon returning to his time, he’d forgotten just how much he could miss the monk once again.
Tang Sanzang huffed and it seemed like that had at least turned his upset into more garden variety aggravation. “Bad monkey…” He shook his head, and in the dim light of sunset it almost seemed as though his master’s cheeks turned a pink shade of their own before he brought his hands down to take Sun Wukongs in his own, and stood. “Well if you feel so strongly about that then clearly I’m going to have to see to your recovery myself.” The monk looked off to the side and a small smile came with a featherlight chuckle. “How strange, a near reverse of how things once were between us.”
He chuckled as well at the irony and watched his master’s grin widen. “Indeed. Well, if you insist, I shall submit myself to your fucking fretting, baldy.”
Now THAT got a real laugh. and a soft 'Language!' between chuckles.
He’d get summoned back to his own time when Past Him was done doing whatever heavy lifting he’d gotten too weak to be able to handle no doubt. But for now he didn’t see the harm in enjoying the peacetime as it lasted.

Chapters 5 & 6 [read here]
A Ghost Story read from the beginning | playlist | ko-fi
Fic Summary: Castiel Novak has haunted his family's estate for 150 years, awaiting the return of his lost love. Upon their reunion, Dean Winchester learns of his past reincarnation. After the night of Castiel's resurrection, the two try to find out why they've been given a second chance. The answers may be hidden in the forgotten memories of Dean's former life - but sometimes the truth is better left buried.
Chapter Preview:
The cemetery was a small plot of grass and trees, fenced in from the surroundings office and government buildings. A chapel stood to the side of it. And Dean couldn’t help but think it seemed a little out of place among the bustle of modern city life, especially since all the headstones and memorials looked so old. He doubted anyone had been buried there in the last seventy years or more. Some of the tombstones were in better shape than others, he noticed as he threaded through them, and the ones in the best shape were those “notable” people listed on the info plaque at the front gate that gave the history of the burial ground.
Dean wasn’t really sure why any of those people were so “notable.” He was also pretty sure none of them had been reincarnated, so who was the real winner here?
Every now and again, he glanced away from the headstones to look at Sam or Cas. They were flanked out in different parts of the cemetery, both of them with their heads down, reading the engravings on the stones. No one else was walking along the walkways. Everyone on the sidewalks outside the fence kept their eyes forward, wrapped up in their cell phones or rushing back to office after their lunch break. None of the graves had any flowers on them anymore. From the intersection, a car’s horn beeped furiously.
Dean walked along the outer wall of the cemetery. It was an old thing made of crumbling, ancient stone. Cracks ran through them, creating a variety of jagged shapes—so Dean almost missed it. He’d walked right by it before pausing and stepping backward to take a closer look. Something was engraved into one of the stones. It was a weird shape—almost like a star. Actually, it kind of looked like two Star Trek symbols pointed in opposite directions and overlapping. It was enclosed in a circle. Dean tilted his head at it, a strange needling in his head telling him he’d seen that symbol somewhere before.
“Hey, guys! I found it,” Sam called suddenly.
Dean instantly turned around. He went cold, and that didn’t have much to do with the biting chill in the air or the changing leaves falling from the trees. Part of him had still sort of been denying this whole thing was real, that they wouldn’t actually find a Dean Wesson buried there.

Chapter 6: Causing Chaos
——————
Planet Amari was their next stop. It would take only four hours to get there and usually this would be no problem if they weren’t harboring a human. Let alone the human that had just escaped the Dream Team Ship.
Phil shook his head and focused on the increased security around the boarding docks.
Amair is a planet whose only purpose is to entertain, meaning they already have some of the best security in this part of the galaxy. The added security came directly from the ISF and were now searching suspicious ships.
“Check check, one two.” The microphone turned green, “As your captain it is my duty to warn you about extra security measures. The ISF is boarding ships and checking for abnormalities. Please complete protocol 35.0.” Phil spoke into the mic and waited for everyone’s confirmation.
He got up and started the process of taking maps and blueprints that were not available to the public along with future plans and hid them in a document compartment behind one of his shelves. He then changed his normal illusion monitor and changed it to the default screen.
He stepped out of the cabin and cleaned the surrounding area, while also checking for anything that could be confiscated.
“Tommy. In order to go onto the planet I need you to wear this.”Wilbur confronted.
“No! It looks like one of those serial killer masks!! My face is too beautiful to be hidden.” Tommy scoffed.
“Tommy if you don’t wear it willingly, I will tell Ranboo about-“ Wilbur was cut off by a series of curses and Tommy fiddling the mask around his face. “Good. Put this on too.” Wilbur handed the blonde a bundle of clothes and made his way to the lab. Phil chuckled at the brotherly bond that was already forming.
He made his way down to the lab checking for abnormalities before seeping back to the holding cell. The human was pulling at his clothes while packing things back into the shelf.
“Hello mate! Whatcha doing there?” Phil asked, casually. What he didn’t expect was the human to practically jump out of his clothes in the captain’s presence.
“W-who are you?” Tommy stammered, Phil had completely forgotten he had never introduced himself before.
“Oh! I forgot we haven’t formally met. My name is Captain Philza Mine Craft, but you can call me Phil or Philza, whichever you prefer. I use he/him pronouns and am the legal captain of the SBI Craft.” Phil finished his introduction with an easy confidence, even with the face mask you could easily see the kid’s wonder, “We are currently waiting for a formal check from the ISF.” The human tensed at that, “So if you would please follow me to the common room, so I may hide the holding cell.” The human nodded vigorously.
Once Phil had dropped Tommy off in the common room he made his way to the holding cell. With a few clicks and checks the holding cell made a perfect illusion wall, which molded it into the wall not to be seen by any inspectors or gadgets they may have.
Once he had gotten confirmations from all crew members, he made his way back to the pilot’s cabin. If they were even a minute slower with preparations, security would have deemed the ship suspicious.
They settled the ship at the checkpoint and waited for a security officer to signal them.
——————
Wilbur’s leg bounced anxiously as he wore his disguise. He had finished briefing Tommy about the plan. They would lie about their origins, Wilbur doing the talking, and would get what they needed and get out.
The only thing anyone was waiting on was the guard.
Almost on queue the door began to open and a young starling stood at the door. He seemed to be genetically engineered and had wires attached to his head and 3D glasses.
“Hello everyone! My name is Jack Manifold, and I will be checking your ship!” The starling chirped, “I hope you have both we have to confiscate, because everyone here seems like lovely people. I have to ask where is your captain?”
“Right here mate.” Philza said, stepping out of the pilot cabin. “I am Captain Philza Mine Craft, of the SBI Craft. Feel free to look around.” Phil said with a hint of impatience. Jack didn’t seem to notice and made his way around the Craft.
Everyone sitting in the common room shared a few nervous glances. The only one who seemed oddly comfortable was Tubbo.. Wilbur took note of the behavior and tried to busy himself with the magazine he was holding...
When did he get a magazine?
He was immersed in an article about room design when Jack returned.
“Everything seems to be in order! The only thing I ask is that everyone introduces themselves.” His tone turned serious as he looked at the crew.
“My name is Technoblade. I am the security officer on this ship and second in command.” Techno said without faltering in tone.
“I am Ranboo. I am Technoblade’s hired assistant and do most chores around the ship.” Ranboo said clearly anxious with the attention on them.
“Tubbo, I am a hired gardener and take care of food supplies and medical ingredients.” There was a coldness to Tubbo’s voice as he finished his introduction.
“Dr. Craft, I am a toxicologist. This is my medical student, Tommy, he doesn’t talk much.” There was a suspicious glint in Jack’s eye as Wilbur continued, “We have been working for this crew for two months, before that we were traveling on our own licensed craft.” Jack accepted the answer and finished checking his notepad off.
“Alright, that will be all then! Welcome to Amari! Once I give this report to my manager, you should be able to enter the atmosphere!” With that the cheery starling left the ship and Phil closed the door before disappearing into the pilots cabin.
To say Wilbur was relieved was an understatement.
——————
Things were falling into place.
Once they were on the planet all Tubbo would have to do is add the substance to one of Tommy’s drinks and he would be acting out in no time!
But is it worth it?
He pushed the thought out of his head and finished packing the small packet in his bag before getting off the ship with the rest of the crew.
“Before we head to the shopping center, why don’t we stop by Las Nevada’s? I mean it’s Tommy’s first time on Amari after all.” Tubbo said. Las Nevada’s is the most well known restaurant and casino in Amari. It was the perfect place for Tubbo to start his plan.
“I don’t see why not. Just stay in the restaurant bit, we don’t want to draw any more attention to ourselves.” Phil answered.
With that the group walked into one of the best and worst places in the city, though no one knew of the worst bit yet…
——————
They sat around a booth compartment. It had soft red padding and purple looking palm trees, without the coconuts.
It reminded Tommy of a stereotypical mafia restaurant. Something Tommy never got the privilege of seeing.
It made him very uncomfortable, especially when the waitress gave them drinks in glass cups. He felt like whatever he touched would instantly shatter into a billion pieces.
Techno was taking Ranboo to the bathroom and Phil and Will were talking to a waitress leaving only Tommy and the scary bee boy . alone.
“I told you I was done Miranda!!” A man shouted from a nearby table causing Tommy’s attention to be focused on the couple fighting.
“You had one job. And you failed it boy.” A man slapped his face.
He was in his third foster home again. They had asked him to get at least $50 from people on the subway, he had only managed to score $20, and the man was furious.
“You’re lucky I see potential, otherwise you’d be back in that goddamn group home.” Tommy’s eyes dropped yo the floor, another slap and a hand grabbing his chin to look at the man, “PAY ATTENTION TO ME BOY. I saved you from that hell hole and I can take you back.” The man sneered. Honestly Tommy would rather be there than here.
“Hey!” Wilbur snapped in front of his face, “You with us?” Tommy nodded. The couple was gone and everyone returned. Now Ranboo and Wilbur were sitting next to him and Tubbo was sitting next to Ranboo. Did bee-boy always look so guilty?
After a minute of awkward silence, Phil and Techno started talking, their voices drowned out by the surrounding noise. Wilbur had turned his attention to his menu and Ranboo was writing in his book again.
Tommy reached for his water and Tubbo turned his attention to the human. The mask he was wearing had a flap so he could easily breathe, eat, and drink. He took a sip of water….. was water supposed to be this sweet?
“Why the fuck would someone put sugar in water as a prank?” Tommy mumbled, everyone’s attention was on the human again, “What?” He asked defensively.
“Did you say sugar?” Wilbur asked as if it was the craziest thing he had ever heard.
“Umm… yea?” Tommy said. We’re these people pulling a prank on him? Why was everyone looking at him like that?
“Tommy, can you give me your water?” Wilbur asked, he was genuinely confused by the reactions. After a few seconds he gave his water to Wilbur who immediately took a sip and spit it out.
“What the fuck?!” Tommy asked as Wilbur gave him the water back.
“That is definitely sugar.. Tommy do you feel weird at all?” He asked.
“Erm no?” This was getting stranger and stranger.
“So humans are immune to sugar…” Will said as if it was a scientific breakthrough.
“Yea? Why wouldn’t we be?”
“Well for one, most species go absolutely crazy after eating sugar, for some it could lead to death.” Tubbo informed. He looked even more confused than Tommy felt.
“So like, aliens go psycho when they eat sugar? That’s lame.” Tommy laughed out the last line. Everyone looked at him with concerned glances, “I don’t think I am gonna go psycho after drinking a small bit of sugar water, I mean most people have been eating sugar their entire lives, me being one of ‘em.” Tommy finished and the underlying tension died down. Well except Tubbo’s which felt more like an angry glare meant to affect him in some way.
When the waitress came everyone gave their orders, Wilbur supplying Tommy’s. The rest of the meal was comfortable, with Phil telling stories and the rest supplying jokes and chatter, along with the occasional glare from Tubbo.
To be honest Tommy had never felt so comfortable around anyone before, he wanted so badly to let down his wall around these people. Still there was that annoying voice that told him not to trust them. For once he didn’t listen to it.
I mean what could go wrong?
——————
The plan failed. Shit.
Tubbo was mad. Not just mad, furious.
The others were having fun with the human, yet again. Tubbo had wandered off, he wanted to destroy everything, and yet he simply walked off without a second glance. He could feel the tears streaming down his face.
“Hello bee-boy!” The human scared the droneling, his ears falling flat against his head.
“I am not in the mood to talk.” Tubbo sniffed.
“Oh..” The human’s tone dropped, it was almost as if it was hurt by Tubbo’s words. “That’s alright big-man! We don’t have to talk.” The human settled with that response, with that the pair walked through the busy street in silence. Tubbo tried to throw the human off his trail but gave up after a few minutes.
After fifteen minutes of them wandering around Tubbo spotted a shop and made his way over to the electronic shop. The human followed him into the small store.
It was a small shop with tight isles and jazz music filling the silence. At the register a tall creeper hybrid fiddled with a redstone contraption. Tubbo paid no mind to him and turned his attention to some of the smaller devices scattered throughout the shop. The human shifted nervously behind him.
Once Tubbo found what he was looking for he took it over to the register. Another man stood behind it along with the original one. His eyes shifted to Tommy.
“Are you sure that’s him?” The original man asked, his name tag reading Sam.
“Yes, positive. Dream will be happy with this.” The other man replied, he stretched one of his fingerless black gloves and turned towards the pair. “Hi. I am assuming you have my boss’s patient?” The black hair man asked. He was a blazeling and had a cruel glint to his eye.
Without warning another man came up behind them and slapped a cloth over both of their faces. Within seconds the pair was out and everything went black.
He woke up in a cage.

Slightly hesitant, I glanced back and forth between Osborn and Liyuu, unsure of what would be more appropriate to do at this point.
Then, one of the employees called for Liyuu from a distance away. He looked around to see where they were before turning back to us with an apologetic look on his face.
Liyuu: Sorry, but I have to go check on them over there.
Osborn: Sure. Go on.
He shot me an apologetic smile before he turned and left.
My stomach suddenly rumbled out of nowhere, reminding me that we'd unfortunately forgotten to get some food in our rush to get here.
Tumblr media
Osborn: He won't be able to wrap up that quickly. I'll shoot him a message later. Let's go grab dinner first.
MC: Sounds like a plan!!

And that's how Osborn and I ended up going to a nearby family restaurant for dinner.
Just as we were finishing up the last bit of food, we received a call from Liyuu, who delivered us a piece of entirely unexpected news.
Liyuu told us that due to personal reasons, Seed might not have any more performances in the future.
I felt very broken up about it as I recalled every single moment of the live performance today. I hoped to perfectly commit their performance to memory.

Another two weeks passed after that.
One night, Osborn and I were having dinner at a place near Warson when his phone suddenly lit up with a message.
He took one look at it, his face gradually morphing into one of suspicion.
Tumblr media
Osborn: It’s a number I’ve never seen before, telling me to go to “Chimes Piano Shop”. They say I have something there.
MC: Oh? How curious.
MC: But, Chime’s Piano Shop? That’s just nearby. Won’t you know if it’s a scam or not if you just drop by and pay them a visit?
Osborn: Okay, Miss Directionless. How about you lead the way this time?

MC: Hey! This place is around my workplace! Don’t you underestimate me!

After we’d finished our meal, I easily led Osborn to Chime’s Piano Shop, a place that was located deep inside an alley.
Peering through the glass windows of the shop, we could see that it was brightly lit inside. Its interiors were tastefully furnished with a mix of retro and trendy, and there were a variety of brand-new instruments scattered around, being displayed out on the floor.
No matter how we looked at it, it was nothing more than an ordinary piano shop. Hence, we pushed open the doors and stepped inside.
The bell hanging from the door made a pleasant jingle, alerting the clerk to our presence. The uniformed clerk raised his head, smiling as he made his way towards us.
Clerk: Oh. You must be Mr. Osborn, right? I was the one who sent you the message earlier. I’m a friend of Liyuu’s.
Clerk: He left Guangqi City a couple of days ago and placed his electronic keyboard here before he left. He said that he hopes to entrust it to your care.
Tumblr media
Osborn: ...An electronic keyboard?
Clerk: Over here.
Following the clerk, we stopped before an electric keyboard that was placed in a corner.
It was clean, but old, considering its slightly outdated style. It stuck out like a sore thumb despite having been placed in a corner, like an old man that possessed a good many stories.
Tumblr media
Osborn: He wants to put something this huge in MY house? Gee, he sure knows how to trouble someone.
Clerk: He’d also said that you can give it to someone else or even leave it here for sale if it’s inconvenient for you to take it.
Osborn wearily rubbed his temples before he turned to question me.
Osborn: Do you know how to play?
Tumblr media
MC: Oh… Just a little.
Osborn: How about I give it to you then? It's your idol's beloved keyboard.
MC: Don't want it.
He was teasing. I glared at him in dissatisfaction, taking a serious tone with him.
MC: This is the keyboard that Liyuu has used for many years, it must mean an awful lot to him.
MC: I think maybe he doesn’t intend to give up on music.
MC: You’re the one who gave him the motivation to do it, so I think that he’s hoping that you can take it under your wing. To protect and take care of this important dream of his.
MC: Who knows, maybe he’ll come back one day to reclaim it from you!
Osborn: That guy… He’s still as whimsical as ever even after all these years, huh.
⊹ ˚✩ ━━━━━━━━━━━ ∘◦ ✥ ◦∘ ━━━━━━━━━━━ ✩˚ ⊹

Osborn glanced at the keyboard, helplessly shaking his head, as if what stood before him wasn’t his friend’s keyboard, but rather, his friend himself.
After a while, he sat down on the sofa before the electronic keyboard, slowly lifting the heavy black cover that had hidden the keys of the keyboard from view.
The keyboard had been maintained well, but the keys all shone brightly from years of wear and tear, inflicted by years of practising.
His slender, yet strong, fingers slid across the keys, gently pressing on a few.
The black and white keys played a series of pleasant-sounding notes. He lowered his eyes in thought as the sound reverberated in the air.
Osborn: "Take care of his dream for him"? ... I'm not all that noble.
His tone was reminiscent of a sigh. I shook my head and walked up, standing before him.
MC: You don’t have to bear any responsibility for this, Osborn.
MC: You might not understand, but…
MC: Some people just have to exist and do whatever it is that they wish to do. That in itself is something that those who do matter will find solace in.
You fixed your gaze firmly onto him as the thought ran past your mind.
And you, Osborn; you are that existence.

After a while, Osborn sighed, seemingly having come to a compromise about it. He covered the keyboard and stood back up once more.

Osborn: Alright. I'll take it for your sake.
He looked me up and down playfully, his dashing eyes slowly curving upwards in joy.
Osborn: But, you've got something wrong here.
MC: Huh?
Osborn: How could I ever "not understand"?
Osborn: I’ve already long since found the one who’ll safeguard my dreams and aspirations for me.
I froze. I was just about to ask just who this person was when he bent down slightly, his piercing pale green eyes staring deeply at me.
Just as I took notice of the little figure being reflected within his orbs, I heard the notes of a keyboard ringing out in the air, resonating with my heart.
It was then, at that moment, that the answer to the underlying question hanging in the air was self-evident.
