oh youre gonna think im so lame. it's essay writing. ahdjsjdkaksk. i think i told you before but i write book reviews for every book i read and my writing feels so Natural then because it's like. every line has a purpose to prove my point about the book. whenever im feeling rusty with narrative writing i find myself telling myself 'okay pretend this is an essay and this whole story is trying to prove your thesis about the characters' ahdjsj

bren 🥹 ily. my hanahaki wip is really fun and i feel like has a lot of good writing because it really demands a lot of descriptiveness. i have this section when adrien sees gabriel for the first time in a while that i kept scrolling up and rereading
He knows, logically, that this is his father. You can't forget a face like that, the face you searched for in vain at every fencing tournament, piano recital, fashion gala that you knew full well he hadn’t attended but you were tired and wanted an adult to hold your hand and guide you around the crowds.
It is that face. But a mimicry of it, like a portrait with the wrong proportions.
He’s gaunt — it’s the first word that comes to mind. His eyes sit deep in their sockets beneath his glasses, jaw a sharp trapezoid attached to his cheeks. It’s not just a matter of losing weight over the months — which, even if it was, would be a surprising deviation from the seventy-five kilos he had not shifted a decimal of a gram from in thirty years. It’s everything else, the biology hidden behind the layers of perfectly-tailored clothing, and well-combed hair, and skin, although pristine, textured like paper over the canvas of his skull.
🍎What's something you learned while researching for a fic?
did i ever tell you about how when i went to paris last year i literally knew where everything was by arrondissements because ive searched them up so many times for ml fics. i think it was even specifically rue lepic that i remember the most because i once wrote about ladynoir patrolling around there and it turned out to be the road right next to my hotel (yes, we got a hotel in pigalle, my paris knowledge did not supply me with what exactly pigalle is known for,)
⏳If you could go back in time and tell your younger writer self something, what would it be?
literally not to lose that unwarranted confidence i had. at age eleven i was pounding out 50k+ word multichapter fics for my first fandom and like. the plots are so questionable. but when i reread them now im genuinely impressed at the quality of writing i had at that age. i think as i hit 13/14 i went through that phase where i was like ohhh my god i was sooo embarrassing when i was a kid and that insecurity really hindered my writing progress! i think creativity needs you to be unapologetic and cringe. that's when the best stuff is made because it's Real

100 days of productivity⏳🎧
i kind of want to try this out since i struggle a lot of the time staying on track. i’m going to try to keep it consecutive but if i miss a few days i’m not going to beat myself up.
here are my goals:
school
going to bed and waking up earlier— i’m always yawning and tired in class, so i want to have more attention
getting homework done— i procrastinate a lot and i’m not using all the time i can in between classes to get my work done
speaking up— there are a lot of things i complain about for my school, so i want to start actually doing something about them (i’ll probably do this through clubs)
i think the biggest thing is my studying habits. i’m used to not having to study in advance, so i need to start making time for it before it’s too late and i have to cram.
volunteering
this is also a part of school, but i want to kind of treat it separately because it’s important to me. i need to get my hours and i want to help whoever i can in ways that actually matter to me, not just whatever’s available.
spending my free time
i’ve been making time for my hobbies and i want to keep it up.
i’m already crocheting and reading a lot
i want to embroider again and i have a redbubble account that i want to build up
i want to try clay crafts (maybe candle making too??), to learn another language, and to learn the piano
family & friends
i realized how little i actually go out with my friends and i want to change that. i also want to spend more time going out or doing things as a family too.
health/hygiene
shorter showers
less screen time
remembering to change my sheets & towels
laundryyy— no more piles
i kind of forgot about my retainers (i might need an appointment)
my nails need help
take my vitamins and allergy medicine

Sometimes, you're not sure how you never saw it before.
You see it now -- how immortality lives in him. You see it in the way his mysterious smile hides more secrets than could possibly be collected in a single lifetime. You can hear it in how deftly his tongue moves across words in spells that should have long since been lost to time. It is in his hands when they linger just a fraction of a second longer on old names in your books, and hidden deep in his unreadable eyes when his gaze holds yours.
It's the things that are there in a moment and gone in the next -- the distant ache you sense for a fraction of a second at a time before the usual cheerful mischief returns to his countenance. He's so good at hiding it, at brushing it away like he brushes your hair from your face before his lips meet yours. He gently sweeps past it, like the wind on your face as you smile at the sun together, and when he does, oh how badly you want to let him. You want to just be swept into the warmth of the moment and the wonderful feeling of simply being beside each other, where you can lie back and almost forget about it.
But you can't forget, not really. Not anymore.
You can hear it now, and now you hear it in everything. It's in the skillful way he dodges admitting anything about himself, be it future plans or distant past. In the way he says "I love you" but never "forever" or "always." In his sigh of relief as he says, "It's really good to see your face. It just...puts me at ease," and in the odd breath of fear hiding in his voice as he tells you, "It just makes me feel better to feel your hand in mine. To know you're here with me."
And in your mind, you can hear it, you can't help it, it's there, the silent rest of the sentence --
"For now."
He blinks at you, stunned, not quite sure what you mean by the words you've blurted out. You didn't mean to, honestly. But you can't help it anymore, you hear it even if he doesn't say it, and you can't stand leaving it unsaid anymore. So you let the pent up fears start to slip from your eyes, and you continue.
"I'm here with you, for now, you mean. For this one little moment in your impossibly long life, I'm here. That's what you're thinking, isn't it? Always thinking about how this is temporary...here with you now, but always looking out to a time when I won't be."
He opens his mouth to protest, but for once, the ever smooth sorcerer is left speechless. He can't exactly deny it, and yet you're wrong. You don't understand, and how could you? And how can he explain it so that you do?
"No, MC, no, I'm -- not looking to a time when you'll be gone." He grips your hand tighter, pulls you in close so that he can wrap you tightly against his chest. He can't look you in the eyes this way, but you feel his heartbeat against you as he tries to find the words to reassure you. "I'm -- it's not another time I'm looking out to. I'm holding on to this time."
You can feel the sincerity in his words but can't help still trembling slightly in his embrace. Of course you know that he's not looking forward to when you'll be gone. Of course he wants to hold on to this time, but... "Solomon, I'm right here. How can you hold on to this time if you aren't in it with me? Solomon, please, just...be here with me. Live this time with me."
"I am. I am, my love. You're -- I'm so sorry. I am here with you, really. There's nowhere, no time, I'd rather be but with you. You, here with me now, it means everything to me. This time together, this moment, is the most precious thing I've ever had, the most precious time of my life -- finally meeting my beloved, after an eternity."
The warm drop of tears falls against your back, as his composure begins to crack as well, and you turn to him, placing your hand against his cheek to make him face you again. "Then why, Solomon? Why are you always thinking of how this isn't going to last?"
"I -- you're right, MC. It's true, I do think of the day when you'll be gone -- I think of it, and it terrifies me. I want this time between us to last forever, even if I know it won't." His eyes are pleading to you, begging you to understand what he means. He takes your hand from his cheek, pressing your fingers tenderly to his lips instead.
"But even if it won't, even if you're only here for this time, for this moment of my life...you are the moment I belong to. I love you. I love you now, and I will love you when you're gone. That will always be true. So even if these moments with you are all I can have, you will have all of mine. Forever. I promise."
This stupid man. This stupid, stupid, beautiful man, but it settles you now. This stupid man, with his beautiful words and beautiful heart, and brilliant mind always stupidly unspoken --
Your lips find his, and in that moment, it's as though time is frozen and rushing past you two at once. You are drinking in the intensity of his passion as you share yours in return.
When at last you pull apart again, your eyes lock with his, and your voice is solid again, insistent.
"Then take all my moments too, Solomon. Because I'll love you too, even when I'm gone. Always."

when scared, do they go into "flight" or "fight"?
it really depends on the situation. if there was someone he had to protect, he'd fight. otherwise, he'd run. usually, though, its neither; he'd freeze.
do they still have any objects from their childhood? what significance does it have to them? what would their reaction be if they lost it?
he used to keep collections of all of the poems he wrote growing up. that collection is long gone now, though. it used to be a symbol of growth to himself, showing how far he's come. it was bittersweet at first, but now he doesn't think about it.
what is your oc's greatest wish? how far are they willing to go for it?
If anyone asked him, he'd say his greatest wish would be to protect his friends and the one he loves, giving them eternal peace and joy.
While this is one of his wishes, and he would give his life for it, it is his second greatest wish.
His first wish would be for Alice to return home, safe and sound. If he had to burn the stars, he would.

honestly, i picture him having two voice claims, based on his shadow form and his human form!
shadow form -> snatcher from a hat in time. that's it. its literally him. he can switch from being loud to having a low tone in an instant.

simon is an AMAZING cook, mostly because he had to learn how to cook well due to alice. he's self conscious about it but he makes some of the BEST DISHES. EVER

most likely to walk into a wall, and most likely to kill

what is their family like? what is your ocs relationship to them? does your oc have any siblings?
zombie -> he has none :)
zachariah -> his parents are divorced, and he doesn't really keep much contact with them. nothing bad happened, he's just.. not very close with them. he is an only child
do they prefer hot or cold drinks? what is their favourite drink?
zombie -> he prefers coffee with a good amount of cream and sugar mixed in
zachariah -> coffee. nothing added to make it sweeter. he loves the bitter taste
what is their biggest fear? do they have any irrational / mundane fears?
zombie -> he's scared of becoming a hypocrite, hurting someone else over some trivial fight, just like the rest of the circus. he's also afraid of forgetting everything. he's also scared of snakes
zachariah -> he's afraid of the consequences of his actions, and will go to any lengths to avoid them. in the end, he couldn't, though, could he? he's not exactly scared of cemeteries, but they make him anxious. he doesn't know why
what will always lure them into certain danger? a loved one in danger? a promise of something they are always searching for?
zombie -> seeing anyone, especially a loved one in danger. or, a promise of safety and order.
zachariah -> a sense of security, control, and power.
do they trust people easily? how easily will they turn their back to someone? have they been backstabbed before? will they betray someone if given an ultimatum?
zombie -> as long as they seem like they aren't prone to violence, he'll trust them. so, yes, he does trust people easily. the main thing that'll get him to turn his back on someone is acts of violence/murder. the only exception to that is if they had no other choice. he hasn't really been backstabbed before. he wouldn't betray someone, no matter what you offer him.
zachariah -> no, not at all. it's very easy for him to turn his back on someone, considering his lack of close relationships. he's definitely been backstabbed before. if he has something to gain, he'll betray someone in a heartbeat.

zombie -> most likely to obey the "don't step on the grass" sign
zachariah -> most likely to take your pen and not return it/lose it immediately

he has way too much confidence, and can get angry over trivial things. he also has a god complex

he'd probably be a bad liar, usually stuttering and being unable to make eye contact.

she falls asleep easily, although she loves to stay up at night during the weekends. music helps her sleep

kind of? she really doesn't like waking up in the mornings yet she doesnt try to sleep in. she gets ready for the day and tells simon good morning

she's average at sports, although she LOVES playing dodgeball. when playing a team sport, she's probably best at being some kind of support. she's good at throwing things and being fast
