Chance Encounter - A Dream Oneshot
// written in second person pov
Rain gently falls from the sky, landing any and everywhere in sight.
You sit at a bus stop, holding out your hand to let the rain fall onto it. It's cold..always cold. But it feels nice, so you won't complain.
You grab the book you brought with you from your side, an old love story from decades ago which has recently become one of your favorites. You flip through the pages to where you left your bookmark, beginning to read.
The words describe what's happening beautifully, making clear imagery in your head. If only it were possible to find true love like in these stories..but something like that's highly unrealistic. Especially in this day and age.
You let out a quiet sigh, before hearing footsteps nearby. You look to your right and see a skeleton approaching you, holding up a bright yellow umbrella to shield himself from the rain.
He has on a pastel yellow sweater vest with a white button-up shirt beneath it, along with some dark brown pants for a nice contrast. You can see that he's wearing bright yellow rain boots, perfect for the weather. He has some sort of crown looking accessory on his skull. You don't think you've seen anything like it before..
"Excuse me, I'm sorry to interrupt your reading, but I was wondering when the next bus would get here." He has a very calm voice, it sounds warm to you. Pleasing to the ears to hear. His smile is warm too, inviting and friendly. His yellow eyelights glance over you.
"Oh, you're not interrupting at all, don't worry." You smile, gently closing it on your lap. "The next bus should be here in a few minutes."
"Oh, that's good. To both of those statements. Is it alright if I wait here as well?"
"Go right ahead, I don't mind at all."
"Thank you very much." He closes the umbrella and sits beside you at a comfortable distance, resting the umbrella beside himself.
You find yourself glancing over at him, observing him. He notices you and gives you a smile, and you quickly avert your eyes, cursing internally for staring.
"I'm Dream, it's nice to meet you."
You look back over, seeing that he's rested his hands in his lap.
"Oh, um, I'm.." You tell him your name, and he keeps it in mind. "Nice to meet you too, Dream."
There's a bit of a comfortable silence for a bit as the two of you continue to wait.
"What book are you reading? I can't help but be a bit curious."
"Oh, it's a classic from a long time ago. I've always loved romance stories, it's just something about the aesthetics of certain ones. This one's become one of my favorites with time, I find myself rereading it a lot."
"It must be pretty good then, hmm?"
"I like to think so."
He glances over the title. "Perhaps I'll check it out from the library and give it a read myself, I'm about to head there regardless."
"Oh, you're heading there too? I was just about to see if there's anything new."
"Oh, yes. I'm actually returning a book my brother borrowed. He doesn't like talking to people too much, so I offered to bring it back for him."
"That's kind of you. ..Well, since we're going to the same place, maybe I could recommend something for you and maybe him as well while we're there."
"Really?"
"Yeah, I wouldn't mind a bit. You seem to be nice company."
"I appreciate that. Thank you."
"No prob. Uhh..any specific genres you happen to like?"
"Well, I like fantasy stories myself. For my brother, he tends to like the horror genre, or something like murder mysteries. Can't put them down once he gets invested. Though I find those stories to be rather morbid most of the time..at least he enjoys them."
"I see, I gotcha. I'm sure once we get there we can find something with the right feel."
"I'm positive we will."
A comfortable silence returns as the bus finally arrives, the two of you standing up.
"Okay, let's make a run for it- don't want to end up being drenched."
"Yeeeah, let's hurry-"
The two of you quickly run and enter the bus, paying the small fee to ride and sit down beside each other again, Dream simply smiling and allowing you to ramble about your book as you wait to arrive at the library together.

(this playlist is what inspired me to write this oneshot, although instead of waiting for a bus it's waiting for a train. highly recommended to add to the experience!)

Hello✨
Hope u r having a lovely time
Could i maybe request for some soft head cannons on Lust sans and maybe the star sanses if allowed
Where they have like some sort of nightmare or just have trouble sleeping this one night so they go to their SO who just kinda sleepily raises their arms to give them some space to come and cuddle with them??
I've been craving sleepy cuddles for so long lol
Pls and thanku 💖💖💖
Hey! I’m doing great and I hope you are as well! And aw I like this idea. Sleepy cuddles is the best 🥰.
And I can do them all! I just can’t do my mini story time. It would get too repetitive since it’s the same scenario. Usually do it with two separate ones at most (minus poly relationships of course. Those are an exception). I hope that’s all right!
Soft Sleepy cuddles with their S/o
Lust:
* I imagine this guy is a major flirt and tease but is an absolute sucker for domestic stuff. Like one time you just decided to, I don’t know, make him lunch one day! This boy was a MESS. He’d tease that he’d rather eat you for lunch but his soul is beating so fast. You made him feel special and truly cared for even if it was something as small as that.
* So when you had that nightmare and you had your arms out for him to cuddle with you, he fucking MELTED. My god what are you DOING to this guy? No one should be this cute!!! He couldn’t hold in his flustered state at that moment. He’s probably not used to cuddles so you might be his first!
* And if you’re ever having trouble sleeping, he’s quick to catch on. He’ll have you in his arms at bed time. No like it don’t matter WHAT you’re doing. Project? Homework? Nope. He’s dragging dat ass to bed. You need sleep!
* His cuddles are so….intimate. He makes you feel so special once in his arms. Playing with your hair, playfully teasing you but also complimenting every little detail about you, his dopey face as he gazes down at you. He’s favorite cuddle positions is the face-to-embrace and especially the sweetheart cuddle. All the more reason to leave kisses all over your face.
* This guy may be a flirt but his soft, romantic side really shines through during these moments. (Though if you want to fluster him more, definitely tease him during these moments. Definitely worth it.)
Dream:
* He’s usually busy but makes sure to spend as much time as he can with you when the opportunity rises. Though sometimes he neglects his own health (stubborn boi-). Multiple times you have to force his non-existent ass to bed yourself. But you always appreciate how much he cares for you!
* Whenever a nightmare appears, he’s quick to enter your dreamworld and protect you. Upon waking up you put your arms out for him and his face was just pure adoration. He pulls you to his chest and comforts you, singing a soft tune and lulling you back to sleep.
* Now if you’re the one being the stubborn one with sleeping (or just generally having issues sleeping) he’ll be worried for your health. He’ll help with some tea, blankets, and of course cuddles! He can use his magic too if you’re really struggling and you’re really exhausted. He’d hate to see you look so tired….but only if it’s ok with you!
* He loves to hold you close to him. So the cold fusion is perfect. But sweetheart cradle is also super good. He wants you to hear how his soul beats for you. Your warmth also makes him feel so cozy, like he’s always at home with you.
* You make this positive bean glow in positivity and in return he wants you to feel just as amazing as you make him feel. (GIVE. HIM. SMOOCHES. Many. He’ll get all giggly and blushy and it’s so fucking adorable-)
Blue:
* This is such an energetic guy. Can’t sit still but that doesn’t mean he’s not a hint of a lazy boi. He IS a Sans and when you date him, he’ll be more comfortable in showing you. Like I would laze about too if I’m always running around in armor, training, and making puzzles all day! Feel lucky! Because not many people see this side of him. (That means he REALLY trusts you).
* This guy is so sweet. He usually wakes up before you but seeing you shake and whimper in your sleep made him so worried. He woke you up and quickly scooped you up in his arms without hesitation. He recognized it as you having a nightmare due to his experience taking care of his brother. He wouldn’t let go until he knows you’re alright before apologizing for waking you up suddenly.
* Whenever you have trouble sleeping, he’ll ask Undyne and his brother what to do. Undyne freaks him out when she tried explaining some possible symptoms of why you’re having trouble sleeping (he thought you was dying for a minute-) but luckily his bro simply tells him some ideas he could try. Thus he put you through a workout, a nice warm bath, and to end it with cuddles!
* His cuddles are just like him: fun and sweet. Sometimes you both just are on your sides of the bed, staring at each other while holding hands, giggling or telling stories. Or if you both want to be closer, you’ll both probably just scoot on over and drape your arms around each other. Kinda like a big hug.
* He cares a lot about the people close to him. As his S/o, you are definitely one of those people. Seeing your smile makes his day and your cuddles really charge his battery so he can face the next day! He has you to thank for that!
Ink:
* Another busy boi. Also very forgetful. You would have to be very patient with this guy….but he always makes up for it. Sometimes he feels really guilty about forgetting to visit you but you understand his job as a guardian and he does have memory problems. He admits that he also feels bad that without a soul, he can’t show you his “real” feelings properly. He needs reassurance in those moments.
* When you had a nightmare, he was really confused on what had happened to you but he recognized your facial expression: fear. He wraps his arms around you, gently cradling you and rubbing the small of your back. He won’t really say much because he’s unsure of what to say. Still he managed to calm you down.
* When you’re walking around like a zombie, he had to ask around about what was up with you. Luckily he found someone who knew the problem and gladly explained it to him. He took the person’s advice and confronted you about it. Well….he picked you up and put you in bed. Looks like you’re not going anywhere until you get some rest….
* His cuddles are pretty laid back. Usually sticks with the half spoon. Buuuuuut low key he likes spooning too. (He won’t admit it but he loves being the little spoon). He’s a lil shit with teasing and being all flirty but that little bastard is mad smooth with his words. Getting all poetic while caressing your face, he knows how to make you blush. (Unless he’s the little spoon. Then you can get back at him. Might piss him off but he’ll be too flustered as well. REVENGE MOTHERFUCKER-)
* At the end of the day, Ink is just a goofy little artist who just needs a little guidance once in awhile. He may be soulless but he truly loves you and hopes you’ll be able to tolerate his shenanigans.
SURPRISE-
You thought I was done?! If this is for an art trade, I’m gonna go an extra step! So remember I don’t usually do separate mini stories for so many characters.
BUT.
Poly relationships are an exception. Enjoy~!
(✨~Special~✨) Mini Story Time!!!
You were an absolute mess. You had a nightmare and you decided to work on something to keep your mind off it. But now you couldn’t go back to sleep! You glanced at the time. 2:00am….a small groan left your mouth. Now what? Coincidentally, Lust and Dream were just coming to visit via teleportation (thanks to Dream) and they saw you with your head down on the table.
“Sweetheart? Why are you up,” Lust asked catching your attention. You were so zoned out you didn’t even notice them.
“My goodness! It’s so late as well….,” Dream exclaimed before feeling your head, “You’re not sick are you?”
You giggle feeling his gloved hand graze over your cheeks, “No I’m fine. I just had a bad dream and uh….kinda can’t fall asleep now.”
Lust tsked at you, “Naughty~. I bet instead of trying to go back to sleep, you stayed up all this time to finish that project of yours.” The guilty expression you had made them chuckle.
Ink suddenly popped up in, “You REALLY need to stop doing that, mon amour. You shouldn’t be up this late….”
“Hello to you too. And please don’t tell me you left Blue in that ink puddle again….,” You said. Sure enough, Blue walks in completely covered in ink.
“You ALWAYS do this,” Blue said looking very annoyed. Ink apologized profusely and managed to remove the ink with his magic. “Now….we should be getting you to bed!”
You gulped as all four of them gave you a smile and a mischievous look. They all picked you up, making you shriek with giggles. They sat you down on the bed as they got into position before placing you in the middle. You were surrounded by your bone-friends as they cuddled close to you. Lust played with your hair, Ink and Blue held your hands while Dream quietly sang a melody. Eventually everyone grew tired and even you who originally had trouble sleeping, was already dozing off.
You smile at your bone-friends, “I love you guys so much~”
They all gave you a warm smile, their eye lights all shaped as hearts. It doesn’t take long for all of you to finally fall sound asleep.

- gojo satoru x reader

note: people have been asking for this so this is up next! i'm writing this while listening to bigbang's bang bang bang and fantastic baby so if gojo is a bit unhinged... you know why

No way. There is just no way.
Satoru felt his eyes itch and twitch uncomfortably. Despite the opaque black tint of his sunglasses, he could still distinctly see you happily giggling.
“Geto-san, that’s so funny!”
With Suguru. His ride or die. Your massive crush.
Your crisp laughter rang in his ears, scorching his ego and igniting it in flames—that was precisely the reaction he had hoped to receive from you too!
"Aren't they just cute?" Yaga was suddenly beside him with a wistful smile, looking at you and his other student a few feet away. "What do the television say again... a perfect match? In this case, a perfect match made in jujutsu school, then."
And responding to your bubbly self, creating the very picture of perfect match made in jujutsu school indeed, Suguru was every bit as enthusiastic. “Nah, wait until you see this—”
"Perfect match my ass," Satoru grumbled outwardly, rolling his eyes, but he immediately dashed away before his teacher could bonk him in the head for cussing.
It was harmless conversation, or jokes, or whatever. Because Suguru couldn't possibly reciprocate your feelings. His type is women of gravure magazines—Satoru had deemed it as such.
…Right?
At this point, he wasn't in enough denial to say that he didn't like you, because he had made it so clear that he was, in fact, obsessed. He wasn’t shying away from the things he did, which included annoying you constantly, asking you out after school, helping you in missions, and sending you few pick up lines here and there.
And he thought he was certain he could whisk you off your feet. After all, who else could measure up to him and win?
Heh, no one.
(or basically that's just him ignoring the intrusive little voice in his mind that whispered, “Suguru!”)
“So what's with the nice act, huh?” Satoru blew his bangs in a huff as he questioned his best friend with a twinge of dissatisfaction. “Do you like her or something?”
Suguru quirked his eyebrow at him. “What?”
“Don’t play dumb. I have noticed how you two have been joined at the hip lately,” and with deliberate intention to spite his best friend, he made the sourest face as he mockingly recited, “Wait till you see this~”
Instantly realizing what he meant, Suguru burst into a loud snicker. “Come on, Satoru, really? Surely you aren't that petty. We were just chatting—”
“Not that. I know. What I'm asking now is that do you like her or not?”
It wasn't a rare sight to see Satoru with a pout and a frown, and usually he'd humor him. But this time, even Suguru could see that there was something different in the way he asked this. And should he say something that irked him then—
“Heh, so what if I am?”
That's the wrong answer.
Satoru halted abruptly, whipping his head around in sheer shock. "What the heck?"
“She’s a nice junior, kind, easy on the eyes,” Suguru shrugged, flashing him a dauntless smile. “Only a fool would let the chance pass up. Satoru, if you keep dawdling, one of these days, I just might—”
“Wha—hey!? That’s totally foul—!”
“Nah, they do say all is fair in love and war now, isn’t it?”
By a mind-boggling twist of events, apparently his best friend was also a guy after his dream girl. Satoru was irked, challenged, and he would never admit it, but a tiny part of him recoiled because Suguru clearly had an early start and a boost—you favored him first.
This was unexpected, and now he was conjuring up various scenarios of what he should do. He must act fast or else...
Little did he know that Suguru was thoroughly relishing his restlessness.
Tumblr media
Everyone around you said that your relationship with Gojo Satoru... is intriguing to say the least. And especially ever since that one botched mission you two went, you also felt there was a shift in your dynamics.
And if by intriguing they mean him constantly blocking your way and invading your space, then yes, it definitely is.
"Okay, okay, but wait, just hear me out!"
You halted your steps and faced him with an annoyed frown. You really had no time for this. You were about to be sent on a mission. "Gojo, really, can't you just—"
"Okay, I know he's dashing, or whatever," he huffed, the last word he said with a hint of disdain. "But hear me out, and I'm sure you'll reconsider."
"Who are you talki—"
"Who else!? Suguru, of course!"
You couldn't possibly arch your eyebrow even higher, and before you could say anything, he somehow took it as his cue to keep going.
“First, he eats curses. Cursed spirits! He eats them like rice balls! Can you imagine just how foul the taste is?”
"Gojo, I don't have the time—"
"Then! Going from that, just imagine kissing him," he stressed, eyeing you intensely as your own eyes felt like popping out by the sheer suggestion. "What if you taste the cursed spirits rice ball?"
"You're unbeliev—"
"Wait! Can you even kiss him? What if his cursed spirits suddenly pop out of him? Are you willing to kiss his little friends—"
"He's your best friend!" you finally interjected, obviously and utterly in shock by his unhinged rambling. "How could you say all of that?"
"No, you're getting me wrong." Satoru's clicked his tongue. "I'm just listing facts why it's better for you not to end up with him."
You barked a dry laugh. "And? Better with you, you mean? That's awfully biased."
"Why yes of course! Self-promo is never bad," he blatantly retorted. "Let me just tell you aallll you need to know about me!"
He audibly cracked his knuckles and puffed out his chest. "You know already, I'm strong. I can protect you well. My cursed technique doesn't involve eating curses, so you don't have to worry about tasting the said curses on my lips."
How could he blurt all of this with that perpetually playful expression? A chuckle escaped you unwittingly and that only spurred him to go on.
"And I'm handsome!" he boldly claimed, pointing at his face with pride. "And obviously I don't need to say this, but I'm filthy rich—"
At that, you burst into hearty laughter, unable to hold it in any longer.
Satoru's eyes sparkled, lit as if someone had just made his day. "All in all, you know what I mean. Everything with me, all of it is going to be fantastic!"
Even you couldn't deny that all of this exchange had been so amusing. Hilariously so. "You're down bad, huh?" you tried to taunt, although it seemed like a burst of snicker. Yet, you were caught off-guard when he said:
"For you?" his little smirk made your insides suddenly all jumbled up. "Yes."
Huh? What is this? Your bravado faltered a bit as your heart did a somersault inside.
It wasn't supposed to thump this hard. You weren't supposed to feel this overwhelming urge to squeal too. And your face wasn't supposed to grow this hot...
Seeing that, Satoru celebrated his little win, a wicked smile on his glistening lips—that somehow looked rather attractive to you now. "How? Thinking twice now, are we?"
But he couldn't believe that after all this, you would still cunningly retort with, "Ha! You wish, Gojo Satoru."
His stunned face was so comical that you chuckled once again. You wanted to rebuff him more, but before you could, Haibara's voice called you from a distance. "Heeey! Let's go! Or we're gonna be late!"
"I suppose that's my cue," you lightly shrugged, and before you left him in a dust, you could've sworn you saw a flicker of brewing tantrum behind those glasses, which brought a smirk on your face. "See ya, try harder, and I might look at your way."
Satoru was at his wit's end as he saw you sauntering away. What more that he could do so that you could be his? To keep your eyes on him and him only?
And yet, little did he know, in that beginning of summer in 2006, even before you realized it yourself, you had already did.
Tumblr media
Epilogue
In another corner of the school, eagerly spying on you were...
"Wait! Can you even kiss him? What if his cursed spirits suddenly pop out of him? Are you willing to kiss his little friends—"
"Did he just..." Suguru gaped, utterly in disbelief at what his own best friend said of him. "Did he just say that?"
Shoko let out a satisfied guffaw. "Oh, he definitely did."
"I can't believe he's tarnishing my name over a girl."
"Well, you know very well he could do way worse than that just to get what he wants," she threw him a thin smile, while exhaling a puff of smoke. "And hey, you lose. You gotta pay me."
Suguru turned to her in surprise. "Huh? Oh—oh, darn it. Shoko, can't you be less stingy?"
"Well, whose bright idea was it to pull that stunt on him and bet on whether Gojo would approach her in less than a day?"

Sooo I was wandering if you could make headcanons or maybe a oneshot of Tomioka x male reader, where reader is a demon slayer too but like he loves animals, like he is not really all that good with people, in fact he doesn´t seem to like people at all, except for Giyuu and reader tries to make Giyuu like animals as their relashionship went from friends to something more, expecially dogs since they are readers favorite animal and he just feels it will be weird if Giyuu doesn´t like them since he es almost always surrounded of animals, maybe reader even gets along better with the hashira´s pets than his actual commrades?
— A MAN CAN DREAM

giyu tomioka x male reader
— (name) loves animals more than humans, but giyu is an exception, tomioka is his best friend after all. (name) is so oblivious to tomioka crushing on him.

“tomioka-san!~ you look very handsome in the sunlight~”, (name) purred near giyu’s ear, making his face flushed as he turned away quickly, not showing what (name) had done to him but (name) always knew the outcome of his teasing. (name) smiled before releasing a chuckle.
the two hashiras were both in the forest near (name’s) estate. they were seated on the green grass, their backs pressed against a huge tree as they were both chatting as good friends. well, it was more like (name) was teasing, and giyu was just listening, or suffering, his face couldn’t turn even redder. (name) sighed softly as he stared at his lap, there was an adorable soft brown bunny, napping on his lap.
(name’s) mouth curved into a smile as his hand reached towards the bunny, gently stroking the asleep creature. giyu’s reddened cheeks faded away as he was finally composed. he stared at (name) with his usual stoic face but with a hint of blush. he was staring at a literal angel. (name’s) gentle smile, the way he cares for all animals, his teasing but kind attitude towards him and only him, and so much more that giyu couldn’t explain it all.
all of those features of (name) would make his skin tingle, turn his face all red, and make his heart pound like crazy. he was indeed hopelessly in love with his best friend. he doesn’t know how it happened, it just sorta clicked, you know? they both didn’t get along with people well, giyu was a loner, and (name)..let’s just say he would prefer to talk and socialize with animals instead of with his comrades or people.
but (name) isn’t a total jerk, he still attends hashiras meetings, fulfills his duties that his gracious master has given to him, and sometimes chats with his workmates. he wonders how (name) could befriend a nobody like him. “tomioka-san? tomioka?..tomioka!”, (name) snapped with a frown. he’s been trying to get giyu’s attention, but the quiet man doesn’t seem to listen.
giyu snapped out of his daydreaming, his cheeks turned pink as his eyes widened, and he realized that (name’s) had been calling his name for attention. as he was dozing off, he’d been staring at the male beside him the entire time, he probably looked like an idiot. how embarrassing. “forgive me (name’s last name), i was lost in thought.”, giyu apologized. he wanted to disappear and hide. (name) most likely thought he looked like a fool.
(name) sighed with his eyes closed as his eyebrows were lowered, “i’ve told you many times, to address me on first name basis tomioka-san.”, (name) repeated many times as he shook his side to side. “r-right.”, giyu stuttered, how even more embarrassing. (name’s) frown quickly disappeared to a warm-hearted smile, it was terrifying how (name) mood could change so quickly.
“now that i’ve gotten your full attention, i wanted to ask you if you’d like to accompany me to iguro’s estate! i have finally persuaded him to let me look after his animal companion, kaburamaru! it was a funny sight to see!”, (name) laughed as he stared ahead with his eyes closed. (name) was more than excited, he was overjoyed to finally be able to babysit the adorable snake.
it took a lot of convincing to the serpent hashira, he’d even pretended to be nice to him! but obanai wasn’t foolish, he knew the act of (name’s) fake mood. it doesn’t matter anymore, (name’s) hard work finally paid off! giyu winced. he and the serpent hashira did not exactly have the best chemistry. obanai hates him for unclear reasons, so he prefers to stay out of the man’s way.
yet, if it means that he’ll spend even more time with his dear crush, he will gladly join him. giyu stared ahead as well with his usual expressionless face, “sure, why not..”, giyu answered. “wonderful’”, (name) replied happily, smiling warmly.
✩°𓏲⋆💙. ⋆⸜ 🫐✮˚
giyu waited outside of obanai’s estate while (name) was inside, chatting. it wouldn’t take too long, since the animal lover male only came for the snake, obanai knew that. giyu’s back was faced towards a tree with his arms crossed against his chest while his eyes were softly closed, lost in his thoughts while waiting for his crush (name).
he did not want to be near the serpent hashira, and the serpent hashira perhaps felt the same way. he was deep in his thoughts, most likely thinking of (name) when he heard the front door of the estate slide open. his eyes flutter open as he stares at the source. it was (name) stepping out of obanai’s estate with his mouth curved into a smile as kaburamaru was rested on his shoulders.
(name) gently slide the door shut before talking to kaburamaru as if he were a person, kaburamaru even seemed like he understood (name). giyu watched the two interact before walking up to them. (name) seemed to notice the footsteps walking towards him, knowing it belonged to giyu. he stopped his chitchat with the snake as he focused on giyu, smiling in his direction.
“sorry for the delay tomioka-san, iguro was a bit hesitant! wasn’t he kaburamaru?~”, (name) teased in the end while his finger scratched under the snake’s chin. kaburamaru nods, his eyes were shut as his tongue was lolled out, hissing in response. he appeared to like his chin scratch. “now then, what fun activities!-”.
(name) was interrupted by a black crow’s loud caw was heard above them. the two hashiras and kaburamaru stared into the sky to see (name’s) crow hovering above them, squawking. “giyu! (name!) run! run now! head northeast! demons are attacking a village late at night! follow me!”, (name’s) crow alerted the two hashiras, as it soared in the air, showing them the way to the village.
(name) frowned, “it must be urgent if they requested two hashiras..”, he whispered, giyu nodded. (name’s) frown quickly faded away again, and was replaced with a smile, but something was off about that smile. (name) glanced at kaburamaru, “i am positive that iguru wouldn’t mind if you tagged along with us, right kaburamaru-san?~”, (name) giggled, he was going to bring along the snake anyway if obanai didn’t allow it.
(name) took kaburamaru’s staring as an answer. quickly, (name) grabbed giyu’s hand with his own. giyu eyes widened in surprise but he didn’t have time to process it because (name) had started running in the crow’s direction. he almost tripped but quickly regained his balance, and ran along with him. “come on now tomioka-san! we have a mission to do! let’s not keep (crow’s name) waiting!”, (name) chimed with determination, and a broad smile.
giyu stared at the hand that (name) held onto too. oh my lord, (name) was holding his hand, even if they weren’t a couple. he never had romantic feelings toward anyone before therefore he had no clue what affection felt like. his cheeks turned pink when he felt (name’s) clench his hand a bit tighter, (name’s) hand felt warm, soft, and somewhat comforting, and it fit perfectly with his..
✩°𓏲⋆💙. ⋆⸜ 🫐✮˚
after a long time, and a lot of sprinting, they later on arrived at the village when the sun was barely setting. they wasted no time questioning the locals for insight into the demons appearing. they received valuable information from the kind people, and they were now collecting information from a man who’s presume was the leader of the village.
giyu stood next to (name) with his arms crossed against his chest as (name) was standing in from the man with kaburamaru sleeping around his neck, speaking to him. giyu was just standing there, hearing the two communicating until he heard a whine. it startled him a bit, causing him to lose focus from the duo, and look at the source. beside him, not too far away was an adorable white pomeranian, sitting there and looking up with its black doe eyes.
he quickly glanced away from the animal to not attract attention with his eyes slightly widened. giyu sweat dropped as he could feel the dog’s gaze on him, but he dared not to gaze at the dog. giyu doesn’t seem to get along with animals because of his strong and intimidating presence so why should he bother, this one is..different. it doesn’t appear that the dog feels alarmed by giyu’s presence, or even lets out a small growl.
he continued to look away from the dog while the animal continued to stare at him. after a bit of time, (name) bowed his head to the man to thank him for sharing all the information he could, he was truly grateful. the man walked away from the duo as (name) bid him farewell with a wave, and decided to thank him again one last time. “i suppose we should stand by until it’s midnight…awww! a doggy!~”.
(name) forgot what he said as he gushed happily at the cute dog with his hands clasped together and his cheeks flushed pink. he wasted no time sprinting towards the dog dropping down to his knees, and smothering the dog with praises and strokes. giyu once again sweat dropped from seeing (name) act like this from just spotting a dog. the dog doesn’t seem to mind though, it appears to be that the dog enjoys it more as his eyes are closed and panting lightly.
he took a couple of steps to stand behind (name) with his arms crossed against his chest once more as he stared at the two engaging, his gaze softened from the view. to tell you the truth, it was a cute sight to see that it made his cheeks turned pink slightly. it was times like this that made him appreciative and thankful to have (name) as a friend and beside him while no one would. he would do anything just to make these moments like this longer.
heh, i guess giyu was too busy in his fantasy again to notice (name) grabbing his wrist and pulling him down with him, making his eyes widen at the sudden movement. (name’s) a hand trailed down slowly toward the top of giyu’s hand, making giyu skin tingle at the soft sensation. (name) slowly guides giyu’s hand towards the top of the dog’s head..giyu knew what he was doing. giyu was once told (name) of the weird relationship that he had with animals, and (name) didn’t seem to tease him at that time. he genuinely understood him, and he even felt so sorry for him that he apologized. giyu never forgot about that.
“(name)-”, “trust me tomioka-san.”, (name) reassured giyu as he continued to guide his hand toward the dog. giyu was hesitant to pull his hand away, afraid that the dog would surely bite him. he doubted that this would work, why would the animal's perspective on him suddenly change today? however, (name) was his close friend, and he had always trusted him no matter what, it was because it was either that he was his friend or (name) was his crush.
with a quiet sigh, giyu hesitated to nod as his hand was now on top of the dog's head, his hand intertwined with the animal’s fur. his mouth slowly, and slightly agape, he expected the dog to pull away from his embrace quickly, but the dog did the exact opposite, the dog smiled as he nuzzled against his palm. (name) seem to notice, making him release a chuckle from seeing giyu’s stunned face.
“didn’t i tell you to trust me?~”, (name) teased as he side glanced at giyu but giyu was too stunned to reply. (name) realized that this was new to giyu, he maybe hadn’t petted a dog before since animals were intimidated by him which made them turn away from him. (name) sighed from relief as he continued to guide giyu’s hand with his hand back and forth on the dog’s fur, making it seem like giyu was petting the dog.
the duo continued this for a bit of time, enjoying each other’s embrace and their time together. giyu and (name) were close together, enough that their bodies were touching each other’s. unexpectedly, (name) planted his head onto giyu’s shoulder, making giyu halt his movements and his breathing. (name’s) eyes were shut, and he was smiling affectionately, nuzzling his head side to side on his shoulder, breathing in his scent. gosh, giyu felt like he was about to faint.
“(name?”
“yes, tomioka-san?”
“i..i love you..very much..”
“i know tomioka-san, me too..”

There was nothing he could feel, he held the cold and lifeless corpse of his lover; just as he did to his dear friend a few days ago. Cold pulse, it was the only thing he could find; coldness, just as who he was before he met them. How hard he tried to find the love they once held in their eyes. He didn't mind his bleeding hand, he could only focus on holding them. His bloodied hand was mostly theirs and a small mix of his. The tears that dripped to his scarred hand made it sting; just like a wound topped with salt. He tried to make their heart beat once again but it was hopeless, they only held him dearly—as if they were fine and smiled before their eyes completely shut; never to open again. He screamed their name at the top of his lungs before he slowly laid their body on the floor, just like they were resting. He walked away, numb tears escaping his hazel eyes. The room was illuminated by the warm sun they once loved, and the crimson blood was oozing out of the three bullet holes on their chest. He tightly clenched his hand, not minding how much it hurt from the wound. The rain started to pour while the bright and orange sunset was covered with dark, thundering storms. He walked away, turning his back on everything, the Port Mafia, Chūya, his crimes, Oda and you.
"Dazai-san? Are you there? Kunikida-san called me and told me to go to work with you." Atsushi knocked on a small apartment room owned by the Agency.
Dazai sat up and looks at his hand again. It was clean, no blood was leaving his body through a wound that once was. A mark was left there, a memoir that the day he got that wound was the one where he failed to save you.
"That dream again.."
A few tears escapes his eyes and landed itself on his hand, just as that day. He wiped them away after hearing Atsushi knock on the door again.
"Yeah I'm here Atsushi-kun!" He said through the door, trying to sound as cheerful as possible though his voice came out dry and hoarse.
"Are you okay Dazai-san? Are you sick?!" Atsushi asks, his tone full of worry and franty.
"Nop! I just woke up so please wait for me in a few minutes Atsushi-kun!" He said in his usual cheery tone making Atsushi sigh in relief. Dazai's words soon registered in his mind, and he began to panic.
"But Kunikida-san will scold both of us for being late!"
"It's fineee! Its just going to be the same old Kunikida!" He tried explaining while ramaging through his drawer, trying to find his bandages.
"But—"
"I'm gonna be quick Atsushi-kun, I'm just going to dress! You don't want me to go to the agency shirtless do you?" He said in a spiteful voice, wrapping his arms, hands, neck and torso with leftover bandages.
"eww no!"
"exactly" Dazai replied before wearing his shirt and vest. He glances at the scar again before opening the door and throwing in his overcoat.
"Let's go Atsushi-kun!"
He skipped to the agency with Atsushi behind him. They got scolded by Kunikida but it the end he was the one that took his hour long lecture and Dazai got punished by him.
The day passed again, and the moon showed in the midnight sky. Dazai was laying in his futon, staring at the dark ceiling, bottles of sake throws across the floor. He turned his head beside and saw them, a worried look was plastered on their face as they looked at him. He knew that his mind was playing games with him, despite that he came to caress their cheek to feel their warmth; but they disappeared, and his hand only met the cold and empty sheets beside. He clenched his fists tight before standing up and grabbing his overcoat and leaving his messy apartment. Walking in the dark streets lighted by the faint moonlight, was something both of them used to do. He gently smiled at the small memory before continuing to walk, he arrived at a small greeny fields in the outskirts of the city.
"Darling! Osamu! Wait up!" They said before panting.
"You really need to run faster my love!" He turned around and saw them with furrowed eyebrows. He chuckled before going to them.
"You're so unfair! I'm on my slippers because you called me and told me it was an emergency!" They pouted, taking his assistance and grabbing his hand for support.
"It is an emergency! I was bored and I missed you!" He pointed out.
"Haii.. whatever.. Don't you dare try to lie to me" They sighed shooting him a worried look before caressing his bruised cheek, and he leaned on her hand.
"What do you mean love?" He sent them a cheeky smile, trying to feign innocence and ignorance.
"Osamu." They said his name in a serious tone, and he only laid his head down.
"I-its nothing" He quietly muttered, getting closer to them, trying to feel their warmth.
"Shh, it's okay. I'm here" The hand cupping his cheeks snaked it's way to the back of his head, as he leaned his head into their shoulder.
Their hand slowly and gently patted the back of his head while he hugged them. The silent crickets are the only thing that was heard. He felt scared, he didn't want them to know his line of job in fear that they would leave him. They were a civilian and he was a mafioso—no an executive of the Port Mafia, the rulers of the night. He needed comfort, he wanted to tell them how his friend betrayed them and now the other was dead; but he couldn't, he was afraid of them abandoning him too. Nobody spoke a word, they didn't bother to ask him more, they just waited for him to open up. They gently hummed a tune as they waited for him, their voice was like a lullaby that comforted a scared and crying child.
The event plays on his mind, seeing illusions of that day in the fields, he could not remember what happened afterwards. He put his hands on the pockets of his overcoat as his fingertips got colder and colder. Walking to a small cliff near the ocean, a name was carved in a rock just near the edge, beside it, was a fresh bouquet of roses. He leaned against the grave as he closed his eyes, reminiscing the old memories.
"Hello love... I missed you" He gently smiled, feeling the cold breeze pass.
A faint voice whispered comfort in his ear.
"I missed you too.. tell me.. is that little girl, the one you told me about—Kyoka, I think—is she okay?"
He felt his hair ruffle, as if someone was playing it just like they did. He wanted to open his eyes to know who it was, but he knew that they would disappear just as he looks behind. He knew that he was just thinking how they would respond but he didn't mind it.
"Mhm.. the conflict was over and the Moby Dick returned to the ocean... Kyoka's now home with the agency" He whispered, trying to feel their warm.
"That's good.. How is the agency treating you.?"
"hmm.. Atsushi-kun is as usually kind.—" he faintly smiled.
"—oh, Kunikida tied me to a chair earlier and beat me up because I was late, it hurt a lot. Ouch" He dramatically whispered and they faintly laughed in return. Silence once again came, the howling winds and the clashing waves are the only things that can be hear besides his lone heartbeat.
"Come back to me please.." His voice cracked. He heard no response, he opened his eyes and looked behind to see nothing but a view of the night sky and the dancing leaves. A part of the cloudy sky was clear, showing the moon perfectly, as if it made way for someone to go high above.
"I'll go to you soon love.. and if the heavens forbid it... I'll fight against God myself just to return to your embrace" He sat up and glanced at the grave once again before finally returning to his apartment.
He closed his door and muttered a small "I'm home" hoping for someone to respond. Taking off his shoes and overcoat, he took a blade from his bathroom drawer, and then made himself comfortable in the bathtub. He rolled up his sleeves and sat up, positioning the blade just perfectly on the veins in his wrist. With one quick and deep slash, blood started gushing out of his left wrist. He winced in pain, taking the blade once again, he slashed his right wrist; it was less deep than the cut in his other wrist but nonetheless, it was deep. Blood started to drip to his garments and bathtub, his vision started to blur and he leaned completely to the wall, closing his eyes. At the last moments of his life, he remembered what happened after that day.
"Hey... If you don't want to tell me it's okay, but don't ever try to hide your emotions from me.." They smiled at him, their fingers playing with his hair.
"What do you mean? I don't hide them—" He left their embrace and tried to put on a facade.
"Osamu. You don't need to hide them" They said, walking upfront, their voice was full of calmness, just like a lullaby. Their arms was behind them, their right hand holding their left arm
"Fine... But let me ask you this then." He looked at their back with a serious tone.
"Why did you come in the middle of the night to a cliff just because I told you to do so?" He asked, his gaze following them as they walked forward to the edge, admiring the moon. They continued to hum before they responded to his question.
"Because I love you" They turned around and smiled at him. They put a strand of hair behind their ear, as the wind passed by.
"mmm.." He opened his eyes to see their illusion planting a kiss on his forehead.
"I..finally..found..you...." His voice slowly faded into nothing but air.
It was as if time stopped for a mere second. The pain that engulfed him whole was now only faint. Their warmness returned to him and his vision completely faded to black, submitting to the sleepiness he held after hearing them hum his favorite tune...

Found You
Tumblr media
Muichiro Tokito x reader
Warning: Angst but have a proper ending
Note: I notice that my most favored post is Muichiro's oneshot. So I made another one, I hope you enjoyed it
And all along, I believed I would find you. Time has brought your heart to me.
I have loved you
__________________
"Muichiro" I heard Kyojuro-san call for me as I was standing at the engawa of the Ubuyashiki's household.
The other pillars were celebrating inside as I decided to be alone for a while until the Flame Hashira looked for me when he noticed my presence is not with them.
Both of us were silent as I didn't even bother glancing at him.
My heart always feels heavy so talking to anyone wouldn't make it better if they can't grant it.
"It's been 7 years kiddo. You need to move on" I heard him as he sat on the edge of the Engawa that made me stare at him.
He tapped the place beside him as he looked back at me.
I silently sat down on that place and he already had his arms resting on my shoulder.
"Your mind and heart should not always be on her. You have yourself too"
"I can't" I muttered as I felt my eyes started to sting a little as my memories with her keep flashing in my mind.
"She was..." I trailed off as I saw my imagination on her sitting down on the grass as the moon gracefully highlighted her existence.
For my vision, she was the angel that God sent to me.
So why did we end up that way?
Her fading silhouette disappeared in front of me as I swallowed the lump on my throat.
"She was the only one I have"
"And she left, kid. There are really times in our life that the heavens above would send to teach us a lesson and that lesson you learned can be found on someone else" he advised me as he pat my back.
I look down and I can't help but fisted my hands on his words.
"What if I want her to be my everything?"
"Then that's dangerous" he exclaimed before he stared at me.
I felt the tears in my eyes slowly build up as a small smile lifted from my lips on his words.
"You told me.." I breathlessly whisper as I started to have a hard time speaking knowing my next words would make me break down sobbing.
"You told me to set my heart ablaze. Go beyond my limits. Follow my dreams"
Tears started to slide down from my cheeks as I looked up as his facade softened when he saw my state.
"I did what you told me and in exchange..." I started to heave breaths as he ran his hand on my back in an attempt to comfort me.
"In exchange, she left me" I breathlessly let out as he brought my head to his shoulder to help me silence my cries.
I miss her...
I miss her so badly.
"Why is it so painful when I set her free. She was the only one I had when I lost my twin. Why didn't she stay with me" I continue crying as he let me rant the painful words I didn't manage to say to her.
"Why did she deprive me of the explanation I needed. She knew I only have her, she clearly knew that"
My body trembled in anger that would die down the moment I remember my moments with her.
But for now, I can't take it anymore.
"Kid, listen to me" he pulled away before he tapped my arms in a way to get my attention.
"Some people are meant to stay for a while even if we want them to stay forever"
My heart broke more on his words as I can't prevent my sobs from being drowned down.
"You followed your dreams. You love and that's not wrong. But for me kiddo, you need someone better. Someone who would support your dream of protecting the world. Someone who would stick beside you no matter how cruel the destiny you will face. True love is about staying even if there are reasons to leave"
I wiped my tears using my trembling hands as I looked up to him.
"But I always wanted her"
~•°•~
"Chiro" I heard her voice behind me that made me look up and saw her bring food for me and my brother.
She is one of the girls in the village who started to look after me and my brother after my parents died.
She didn't say her reasons but her happiness with us was unexplainable.
Even my brother can't help but soften up with her.
She is the one who put an ointment with the scratches on my arms and always tried her best to get along with my brother.
I overcame my parents death because of her.
She put colors back in my dull world. She helped me manage my brother's anger.
She made the world more bearable.
Until everything fell apart when my brother died due to the injuries the demon inflicted on him.
I almost died too if she didn't immediately call for help.
She helped me survive because of her gut feeling. It broke me when I barely even remembered her the moment I woke up but she didn't hold any hatred against it.
She still stayed as I trained myself to become stronger, to become a better defender.
Because I won't make it if I lose her too.
I train myself to protect her from the cruel challenges that the world will give to her.
But I didn't know she was slowly drifting farther away from me.
That one day, she suddenly burst her real feelings to the new me.
The new me who became a hashira, to help me ease the deep hatred I had for the demons even if I forgot my reason is to avenge my brother.
"I don't want you to become a slayer!" She shouted that loud and clear. That I could hear the fear and disappointment in her tone that broke my heart further.
"I did this to protect you"
"No!" She snapped back as tears filled her own eyes. "You can't risk your life in a battle"
"Y/n" I softly called out for her as I took a hold of her cheek but she didn't want to look me in the eyes at all.
"I'm doing this, so I can protect the people I love" I muttered as she slapped my hands away from her.
"How about yourself? Did you ever think of your life at least? Why do you always need to look for others!" She shouted as anger filled her eyes that made me step back.
It finally dawned to me that she has the same mindset as my brother.
I wanted to become a sword man because I want to protect the people. My brother thought I was useless for it, and she...
She think I would let myself die on the battlefield.
With my heart burning with hatred, I would not let myself die as long as the demons are not annihilated from this world.
"Y/n" I pulled her to an embrace as she tried to remove herself from my grasp.
"I need this to protect you"
"You don't. If you really think I would like this then let me tell you. I really don't!" She shouted as I could feel her hitting my chest but I refused to let her go.
"Why do you need to end up in this fate"
I felt my world stop the moment she weakly uttered those words.
"I ask for help from the wrong people" I pulled away from her as my own eyes reflect my disbelief on her words.
"Y/n"
It sounded like she regretted everything. Just because I chose to become a fighter?
"I hate you!"
Those dreadful words were the last thing I heard as she turned her back from me and walked away.
My feet were frozen and I couldn't even run to catch her.
No
I can, but I don't have the right words to make her stay.
What was I supposed to do?
Who am I supposed to be just to make her stay in my life.
That day...
I felt like I was really alone in this world.
~•°•~
It's been seven years ever since my family moved to the countryside for a more peaceful life where the village is in harmony and has not been attacked by demons at all.
A place where demons never existed.
Most of the time I thought of that sentence, it only reminds me of the person I decided to leave.
Cruel or not but I did it for myself.
I just can't handle the path he chose for his self.
My thoughts were snap when I remember what I was doing.
I was praying for his own safety.
I looked up and saw the kamidana as I put down my offering before clasping my hands together.
"I pray for his safety"
Even if I left him, even if he thinks I hated him, in the end, I would want him to continue living even if I was not there.
I couldn't accept his dream so I left hoping that he could reach it without me.
Because I know I can't support him knowing he is putting his life at risk.
I don't want to lose someone important to me again.
So cruel or not, I left early so it won't be that painful anymore.
I kowtow in front of the Kamidana before I looked outside the window and the moon started to rise.
How can the night be this peaceful and beautiful but dangerous.
I didn't think of anything anymore as I started to head my way back to my room.
I felt the cold breeze in my room as I noticed that the windows were open. I went outside so I can think better about the choices I made in my life.
One of them was the choice of leaving him.
There are no days I didn't berate myself for it.
It was selfish, because I wanted to lessen the pain and just left him hanging after he lost his family.
But at the same time, isn't it better?
He could follow his dream and at the same time, meet a better woman.
In his story, I am just a side character he shouldn't protect.
Because in the end, I would keep choosing myself.
I sigh as I embrace the coldness of the night as I gaze at the stars above.
I was just a stepping stone for him to be stronger. His reason, but should never be his first choice.
I want him to put himself first before others, before me.
"Yuichiro, I hope you're guiding him" I whispered as I felt my chest tighten.
Seven years, and I still remember both of them no matter how our destiny lined up.
I am still trying to unbind the tangled paths in front of me. The path of my life that I wanted to live peacefully.
I wanted a chosen destiny where I can be happy.
A Fate that wouldn't revolve around him.
My blood turm cold when I hear my mother scream outside my room. Without thinking further, I ran towards her direction and saw blood across the kitchen floor.
My father was holding a sword as the demon had his hand on my mother's neck.
I felt my hands shook in fear as I saw the terror in my parents'eyes.
I put a finger on my lips when my father was about to call my name.
Without a second thought, I took a knife and cut myself on the wrist and finally heard my father calling my name.
"You blood lust monster! I have the blood you wanted" I felt my voice lowered as I said those words.
No matter what, I won't let myself die in this situation.
The demon turned his head on my way and saw his face that almost looked like a zombie.
My body was trembling but I know, I need to stay calm.
"Leave... My mother... Alone" I stated those words with a cold tone as I keep my eye contact with him.
When he let my mother down the floor, I started to step back.
"Dad, I know what I need to do. Just stay with mom" I uttered those words as I keep my eyes on the demon who took a step forward as I step back.
On the side, I saw my father's silhouette embrace my mom's before I opened the door and made a run outside.
I can hear the quick footsteps of the demon beside me as I see the village. There are bodies on the ground as I realized there are more than one demon here.
"I have marechi blood!" I shouted like a lunatic in hopes to get the attention of the demons that attacked the village.
And I did
Knowing the selfish nature of these creatures, they would fight with each other for my blood.
I took the sword of one of the bodies and realized they were from the demon slayer corps.
These people were his peers.
I removed that from my mind when they started to run towards me while others fought with each other.
I slashed the neck of the other demons with all the strength I've got but it was not enough.
One demon manages to take a hold of the edge of the sword before pulling it away from me by force and knowing one of the wrists has a wound.
It started to sting in pain. I hissed as I fell forward to the ground.
My fears were gone the moment the pain settled into my system as I took a hold of my bleeding wrist to stop the blood from flowing.
They just growl when I do that.
Well as long as they are far away from the village, I can make it.
As long as I find a way.
But not even a minute passed by, a demon pounced on me with its fangs shown.
I thought I was going to die at that moment.
If it weren't for a sudden figure who showed up behind me and kicked the demon away from me.
He took his sword out and I immediately recognized the words written on his sword.
'Destroyer of Demons'
I felt my heartbeat quicken when It finally dawned on me the pale turquoise color at the end of their long hair as they easily killed the demons that surround us.
With their back facing me, I can only hear the wind and the sound of insects across the forest.
The figure in front of me finally turned in my direction and I knew...
I knew my destiny is tangled with his again.
His blank gaze slowly softened when his eyes laid on me. A look of relief crossed on his ways as he took strides towards me.
"Y/n" I heard his voice tremble when he called my name as tears built up on my eyes.
"I finally found you"
The happiness and relief on his tone was recognizable as he pulled me into an embrace, hiding his displayed emotions on my shoulders.
I felt my clothes started to get wet and I realized he was crying.
"Mui" His arms grip around me as I feel my chest tighten. The pain...
It was clear to both of us.
It was really clear that no one wanted to be away from each other. All those years because of selfishness, we went through the feeling of longing and heartbreak.
The Selfish I chose for myself. A choice that should be a fuel to his hatred for me.
So he can forget about me...
Yet the emotion I expected him to give me the moment we meet again, was nowhere to be found.
It was simply happiness when he found me.
It made me realize the precious someone I have abandoned that made me have the urge to embrace him like he did.
In the end,
I can't completely remove the feelings that have slowly built up within me
The truth is...
I just don't want him to die on me...

To keep warm
Tumblr media
Valentine’s Day event, day 6.
Pairing: Tanjiro x reader/Zenitsu x reader/Inosuke x reader
Category: fluff
Warning(s)/note(s): fem! reader
+ This was supposed to be posted on the 14th, but i accidentally deleted Tanjiro’s and Tengen’s oneshot :( i hadn’t included this one in the event, but i had to write something for the last day since i’m cutting the event short by one day. Happy belated Valentine’s Day<3
@brokeniced , @crimsonkenjii-writes , @holywaterforevery3ne
Tumblr media
“Tanjiroooo! I can’t walk anymore- my feet will fall off!”
Exhaling loudly through your nose, you listened to Tanjiro assuring Zenitsu that the walk was almost over, when in truth, you had no idea when it’d end.
“Can’t we find one of those stupid Wisteria House or whatever?” Inosuke huffed, but even his voice was weary. The fight with a poison spewing demon had been long and dreary and all four of you were positively incandescent with fatigue. You cast a wishful glance at Nezuko’s box, wishing it were you sleeping inside. It was dark and cold, with no sign of human civilisation anywhere. You didn’t know when of if you’d find an Inn nearby.
“It’s very late,” Tanjiro announced nervously, nostrils flaring as though trying to sniff the air. “I suggest making a stop..”
“HUH?” Zenitsu yelped. “W-where will we sleep? I don’t want to turn into Inosuke!”
“WHAT DID YOU SAY?”
You trotted towards a big tree trunk that had fallen on the ground and plopped down on it. “Let’s set up camp. We don’t have a choice, Zenitsu.”
Very reluctantly, Zenitsu relented and when there came the question of who would go search for kindlings, he immediately vetoed himself out.
“I’m staying with [Name]-chan!” He hastily wrapped his arms around you. “I can’t leave a girl alone at night!”
“I’m a Demon Slayer.”
Laughing, you made no attempt at pushing him away even as Tanjiro scolds him and Inosuke clicks his tongue.
Somewhere along listening to Zenitsu whine about his hard life while spontaneously switching to wanting to get married and waiting for Tanjiro and Inosuke to get back, you nodded off. Not for long apparently.
« Get off her! »
Tanjiro’s familiar voice echoed in your ears. Your body felt warm and heavy.
« But it’s cold! » Zenitsu whined in reply.
You were still half-asleep and didn’t know if you were dreaming or not. But the way your body was being shaken indicated that you were very much awake.
« Oi! Get off and gimme your place! »
« NO YOU GO AND FIND ANOTHER GIRL TO CUDDLE YOU BOAR HEAD! »
« Stop screaming! [Name]-san’s asleep! »
« You’re shouting too! »
You groaned and pulled yourself to sit up at once. Zenitsu yelped.
« Ah, [Name]-san! » Tanjiro fretted. « We’re so sorry we woke you up! » he wasted no time in executing a full bow numerous times. You shifted and felt something crinkle on you. Looking down you realized you’d been draped in Zenitsu’s orange haori like a blanket.
Inosuke merely huffed, walked over to you and promptly yanked a whining Zenitsu off you. “Make way.”
He settled down next to you and copied Zenitsu’s earlier actions, except he got underneath the haori too.
“Inosuke, what the h-“ you protested.
“Monitsu said you’re warm and i’m freezing!”
“That’s not what he meant!” Tanjiro’s face was now nearly scarlet and he waved his hands in front of him frantically. “That’s inappropriate, Inosuke! Let go of-“
“Why does he get to coddle a cute girl?” Zenitsu whined. “You guys are always stealing her attention- that’s not fair!”
You blinked owlishly at Zenitsu, then at a very red Tanjiro, trying not to pay too much attention too Inosuke hugging your arm.
“It’s true!” Continued Zenitsu without any qualms. “The other day she was tending to your injuries and you were-“
“[Name]-san was just being nice!” Tanjiro’s tone matched Zenitsu’s shrill one for the first time since you’d met him.
“What’s there to fight about? I’m obviously her favorite fighter!” Inosuke roared.
“Zenitsu!” you groaned, too tired to listen to them fight. “I was just helping out. If you feel like i’m not paying enough attention to you then here,” you nodded your chin towards your left flank. Zenitsu wasted no time in making a beeline for you, hugging you so abruptly he nearly slammed you into Inosuke (who then slapped him on the head.)
You threw a sly glance at Tanjiro. You couldn’t tell if it was the sleepiness making you think so boldly, but it happened for you to ask: “Do you want to join?”
“I-“ he choked. “I’m alright, th-thank you!”
You stared at him through half-lidded eyes before you gave an eloquent shrug. Inosuke was already snoring and Zenitsu quickly slid down the log to rest his head on your lap, giggling drunkenly. It took a long time, but eventually the three of you had fallen asleep with Tanjiro stating he’d keep watch. When he saw your breathing deepen, he quickly pressed a hand to his chest, feeling his erratic heartbeat. A pang of guilt shot through him when he felt envious of his two friends snuggling up to you. It wasn’t right, but maybe next time he’d accept your proposition.

Hello!
How are you doing?
Once again, thank you for writing my previous request.
But I just got this idea of either one or all of the star Sanses carving pumpkins with the reader and it turns out that the reader LOVES carving pumpkins and makes really scary yet cool designs on them. (The reader might also take out some frustration on the pumpkin lol)
Thank you and have a good day!
- 🐨
Anytime and I’m doing alright. I hope you’re having a lovely day too! I’m happy to see more of the Halloween spirit! Damn I’ll be honest I was like hesitant on writing but I said, yo ain’t no way I’m NOT writing ALL the Star Sanses on this-
And oh I mean quite literally.
(Can be seen as platonic or as them crushing on reader. Up to you!)
The Star Sanses carving out pumpkins with Reader for Halloween!!!
* They SWORE they saw stars in YOUR eyes when Blue brought out the materials and pumpkins to start carving. You told them you just LOVED carving pumpkins for the spooky season! The four of you instantly went to work on each of your pumpkins.
* Dream had trouble at first. He mentions he used to do this with his brother in the past when the villagers didn’t invite him to trick or treat. Just comfort and help guide him. Reassure that poor boy that you can just as much fun as he did back then! Your positivity will motivate him and he’ll make a cute and surprisingly elegant design on his pumpkin.
* Blue’s was….more of a sculpture. Y’know how Original Papyrus made that cool snow sculpture of himself? Same context here. Though gotta admit it was pretty fricking cool. He deserves a thumbs up (he’ll get slightly embarrassed by the compliment, happy you like it).
* Aaaaaand the moment is ruined when paint suddenly splashes on everyone’s pumpkins, including yours. Ink looks guilty as hell when Blue and Dream glare him down for messing up their pumpkins. You however just stare at yours. EVERYONE just froze up when you started stabbing and carving the LIFE out of that pumpkin.
* Ok they knew THEY were upset but you were REALLY showing your frustration through that poor pumpkin. But you suddenly said “Ta-da!” And you had them in awe!!! Yes you were upset but Ink’s paint inspired you to cut out the paint to make a unique yet scary design! You explain to them how you carve pumpkins every year and have been getting better each passing year. It really shows and they were all pretty impressed!
* Though they were still a bit spooked. You jokingly warn Ink to be careful next time and he gulped HARD. Everyone just laughs in the end and enjoy some treats!
Mini story time!!!
“Noooooo!!!” Blue shouted as paint splattered all over his pumpkin sculpture.
Dream picked up his paint covered-pumpkin and glared at Ink, “Seriously? How did you manage to spray this much paint around?”
Ink, who slowly removed his foot off the paint tube he accidentally stepped on, rubbed the back of his skull, “Whoops! How did THAT get there…?” The two were practically radiating in a dark aura while glaring at the artistic skeleton.
“We’re trying to have some quality time with (Y/n),” Dream exclaimed, “You should have been more careful to where you put all your art supplies!”
Ink shrugged and gave a weak smile, “I…forgot?”
“You always do,” The two other skeletons said at once making Ink chuckle nervously. But before they could say anything. They all flinch when you suddenly stabbed your pumpkin. They were stunned as they watched you as you practically sprung to life and speedily (and kinda violently) went to work on your pumpkin.
“There!” You suddenly said putting the carving tool down making them flinch again. You noticed and turned your pumpkin around, “Ta-da~! What do you think?”
Their eye sockets widen to see such incredible details both scary yet so wonderful! All their eyes turned to stars.
“Wow (Y/n)….This is amazing,” Blue exclaimed.
Dream ran his fingers along the carving, “I know you told us you liked carving but this is something else!”
You giggle, “I do this every year! And every year I get better at it! I just got excited that I’ll be showing it to you guys too….so I went all out!” They all smile at this. You put your hand on Ink’s shoulder, suddenly showing the same intensity as you did with the pumpkin, “Be more careful and watch were you step next time. Ok?”
Ink gulped HARD, “O-ok….” He’s definitely not forgetting that. Blue and Dream laugh heartily making you and Ink laugh as well. You all decided to just take a little break and snack on some Halloween cookies!

Into the Boards
Navigation   Oneshots
Trevor Zegras x reader
Warnings: arguing (if you could call it that)
Word count: 1.1k
You wait for Trevor at the end hall, not liking the hustle and bustle by the locker room. Too many people going in and out, along with families waiting for their dad, son, brother, uncle, boyfriend, or husband.
Being down here also lets you rerun the game in your head. However with this game there was only one play running through your mind and it was Trevor being checked into the boards.
From what you heard, read, and seen he was quite the shit talker on the ice and the other teams had it out for him. The more games he plays the more hits, slashes, and checks he takes.
It’s only a matter of time before he ends up in an actual fight and it will probably be with one of the bigger guys.
An arm slinging itself around your shoulders breaks you away from your thoughts.
“Hey, are you ready to go home?” Trevor asks placing a kiss on your forehead.
You nod.
“Did you enjoy the game?”
“Yeah, if you guys keep playing like that you might just make it to playoffs.”
He laughs, “A man can dream.”
The two of you make your way to the car. You wonder if you should bring up the hard hit, you know he’s fine, he texted you when the period was over.
It’s just the fact that it’s been happening a lot more recently. Yeah it comes with the job but you still worry.
When you get to the car you make the decision that you’ll ask when you get home, knowing that if anything was wrong its best to be handled at home.
~
A freshly showered Trevor joins you on the bed. Pulling you over to him, he places his head on your chest.
You gently run your hands through his hair, “How’s your head?”
“It doesn’t hurt as bad as it did.” He says lifting his head up to look at you, “But I’ll be fine.”
You nod but sit up, making him do the same, “Are you fine?”
“I just told I was fine baby, there’s no need to worry.”
“That’s not what I’m talking about.”
“What are you talking about?” He asks
You think for a moment wondering if you are ready to bring it up.
You sigh, “Why you’re so hotheaded on the ice? It’s like you’re looking for a fight every game.”
He gives you a confused look, “What are talking about? He came after me.”
You sit up straight, “Trevor, I’m not talking about just tonight, you will chirp anyone on the ice big or small. You probably spend the same amount of time on the ice as you do in the box.”
He sighs clearly not liking this conversation, “It’s part of the game. It’s what we do.”
“You picked a fight with Vince Dunn, he’s a fighter. He would’ve had you on your ass before you even got your gloves off.” You tell him, “And when you played Boston you had Brad Marchand going after you more than once. Then the unneeded cross checking when you played the San Jose. All you do is pick fights.”
“Vince said slashed me first so I returned it, and I would not have been on my ass.” He scoffs
You roll your eyes, “You cried when I accidentally hit you too hard when we were play fighting, you definitely would’ve been on your ass.”
“I was just messing around, you didn’t really hurt me.” He claims
He gets up off the bed, “And why does this matter now? What’s the point of this conversation?”
“It matters because I care about you and every time you step foot on that ice I worry about you.” You stress getting out of the bed, “And the point is that your team won’t always be there to protect you the next time you decide to pick a fight. I can see that it’s taking a toll on you, mentally and physically.”
You stand in front him, “So why do you keep doing it?”
“I don’t know.” He shrugs, “Maybe to seem cool. To make people take me more seriously. I don’t know.”
“You think people don’t take you seriously?”
He runs a hand through his hair, “Everyone thinks I’m a bust, that I’m no good. I just want to prove that I’m enough, that I’m good enough to be here.”
He sits on the bed, “I want people to see me the way they see Jack or Cole and if they don’t see me that way then I want to be a person they’re scared of. The person they don’t want to mess with on the ice.”
You place your hands on his face, “The only person you should be comparing yourself to is your old self and how far you’ve come. You, Jack, and Cole are different players. You all have a different perspectives and ways of playing.”
You place a short but sweet kiss on his lips, “And you’re not a bust, Z. You’re one hell of hockey player and you deserve to be here. You are enough.”
He smiles softly, “We’re dating, you’re supposed to say that.”
“I would tell you that even if we weren’t.” You say, “But do you know how many people would say the same thing? Or how many people look up to you?”
He takes your hands from his face and holds them, “I just feel like I could do better, be better.”
“And you can.” You tell him, “But to be better you have to be yourself, not what you think others want you to be. You have so much potential, Z. And it hurts to watch you waste it on stupid fights and time in the box.”
You straddle him and push back the hair in his face, “You deserve everything that this world has to offer.”
He smiles and gives you a peck on the lips.
“Even when you’re a jackass.” You mumble
He laughs, “Look, I’ll try my best to stop but I don’t know about the guys who have it out for me.”
“Well you better or else.” You threaten
“Or else what?”
You pat his cheek, “Keep being stupid and you’ll find out.”
He lays back taking you with him, “Am I a jackass or am I stupid?”
You smile, “You’re both.”
“You can only pick one.”
“Well you’re a jackass on the ice and stupid all the time. So really, you’re just stupid for being a jackass.” You reply
He gently pushes you off of him, “If you’re going to be rude I’ll go sleep in the couch.”
He sits up but you pull him back down, “You’d be back after an hour.”
“I would not.” he argues
“Oh, but you would. You’re a big baby, who just wants to be loved.”
You pepper his face with kisses, but make sure to leave a lingering kiss on his lips.
You grab his face, “I love you, you know? That’s why I worry.”
“I know.” He answers, “I love you too, baby. And I’m sorry for making you worry.”

A/N: Part 2 Small Town Dreaming can be found right here.
Many people would say living in a small town was too confining. But you would highly disagree. Nothing beats biking through town, saying hello to all of the locals. Knowing everyone and always looking out for each other, it was your place to be. Besides, you got enough excitement from your grandmother’s bed and breakfast, where you worked. There were enough out-of-towners to keep you satisfied with what was outside of your small town.
Propping your bike outside of the B&B, the bell above the door jingled as you entered. The smell of home and summer hit you and you let out a contented sigh. This was exactly where you belonged. And you couldn’t be happier.
“Good morning, Grandma.” You called out, knowing she would hear you from wherever she was in the building.
“Morning dear! Did you get everything from the store?” She answered from somewhere else.
You nodded, even though she couldn’t see you. “Yes, I’ve got the groceries and toiletries to spare. Anything else you need from me?”
“Oh, thank you, dear. Can you double check the guest book and the ledger? I want to make sure we’re not overbooked this summer. It is the busy season, you know.”
“Of course.”
Pulling out the thick guest book, as your grandmother refused to digitize anything, you started scanning who made a reservation and how long they would be staying. You double-checked everything against the receipts you made sure to receive and the large calendar on the front desk. A smile stretched across your face when everything checked out. You loved when things fell into place like this.
Despite everything being perfect according to the guest book, calendar, and receipts, one name caught your eye.
“Grandma, this Choi San who will be staying with us for a couple weeks, he’s not related to Ms. Choi, is he?” You asked.
Your grandmother, appearing by your side, glanced at the name and the receipt. She nodded, “Yes, she’s his great aunt. Apparently he’s looking to open a taekwondo studio here in town. If you ask me, I think it’s exactly what this town needs.”
You nodded absent-mindedly. “Yes, of course.”
“Oh, dear, before I forget, can you help me clean up room fourteen? The Sol family is going to be checking in late this afternoon.”
This knocked you out of your stupor and you smiled. “Yes, absolutely. We wouldn’t want to leave our customers waiting now, would we?”
She chuckled, pinching your cheek. “That’s why you’re my favorite employee and grandchild.”
The rest of the day went on like normal. You helped check the Sol family into their room, kept the rooms clean, directed guests to points of interest in town, and picked up dinner for you to share with your grandmother. However your mind was elsewhere. You couldn’t help but keep thinking about San who was coming tomorrow.
Ms. Choi was a dear friend of your grandmother and she spoke highly of her great nephew. She said he was a hard worker with a kind heart, friendly disposition, and a handsome face. You’d be lying if you said you weren’t interested in meeting him. But you wouldn’t tell your grandmother that. She was a notorious gossip and matchmaker. She’d try to set you up with him and be planning your wedding before you even had your first date.
You shook your head, banishing the thought from your head. You were being ridiculous. There was no way you were going to fall in love with him. Maybe you could be friends, but definitely not lovers. It sounded way too cliché, like a bad Hallmark movie.
“Did you hear me, dear?”
Glancing at your grandmother, who was giving you a cheeky smile, you sighed and shook your head. “I’m sorry, grandma.”
She waved her hand with a teasing scoff. “Don’t be. Your mind has been elsewhere all day. And don’t deny it! I know you well enough to know when you’re not thinking of work. If I didn’t know any better, I would think you were thinking of San all day.”
You practically choked on your food and she let out a bark of laughter. “Ha! I knew it! Oh I will have to tell Ms. Choi about this tomorrow when I meet her for tea and quilting along with the rest of the quilting society, which is what I was trying to tell you earlier. Oh, you’re free to join as well, dear. I’m sure the ladies would love to see you again!”
Trying to recover from almost suffocating, you said, “Shouldn’t someone stay here to look after the B&B? Besides, we have a couple coming to check in late tomorrow, don’t we?”
“You’re right, but still. At least make an appearance.” She encouraged you with a stern nod. “You spend too much time here, dear. I worry about your social health.”
“Believe me, grandma, my social health is just fine.”
“Sure it is.” She rolled her eyes and you groaned.
“Just, finish your dinner, please!”
“Whatever you say, darling grandchild of mine.”
You were tossing and turning all night, trying not to get too hung about tomorrow. San was just another customer. He was just a family member of a friend. He wasn’t special. You just needed to treat him like a normal customer, that’s all.
And so as you anxiously wait at the front desk, you repeat it over and over again. He was just a normal customer. He was just a normal customer. He was just a normal-
A perfectly normal and devilishly handsome customer.
Seriously, it was unfair how handsome he is.
“San?”
He smiled and you swear you were about to smack that frustratingly adorable smile off his face. “You must be Y/n. My great aunt told me about you and your grandma. She wasn’t kidding when she said that you take this bed and breakfast seriously.”
“Should I be flattered or offended?”
His smile fell, replaced with a look of dread. “No! No, no, no! I didn’t mean to offend you! I’m so sorry if I did!”
You laughed at his flustered state. “I’m just teasing. Are you ready to check in?”
He nodded, relief causing his shoulders to sag. “Yes, please.”
As he signed the guest book, which you noticed he had excellent handwriting, you commented, “So what are you doing staying in the bed and breakfast, instead of with your great aunt?”
“Well, her place is really small and she only has one guest bedroom that is so full of quilting materials, it’s basically a wall now. Besides, I was the one who suggested coming here, so that it forces me to find my own place faster and I stay out of her hair. Of course, she insisted that she pay for my stay.” He explained, handing back the pen.
You nodded and put the guest book away. “I completely understand. That’s why we don’t have anyone staying in room twelve. It’s full of my grandma’s quilting and scrapbooking materials.”
San laughed. “Looks like we both have overzealous and crafty relatives.”
A giggle escaped you. “Seems like.”
You handed him the key for room eight and showed him where he would be staying. San commented on how spacious, clean, and bright the room was before thanking you for your help. You listed off the amenities that came with a stay at the B&B, which included free breakfast every day and coupons to local eateries and shops. You also informed him of events going on in the town which made him chuckle, much to your confusion.
Noticing your slight concern, he said, “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t laugh, but I couldn’t help it. You sound just like a tour guide. You must really love this town.”
Nodding sheepishly, you admitted, “I do. It’s where I grew up. I have so many fond memories and couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. I love how tight-knit everyone is. It’s like we’re all each other’s family. Some people would find this town boring because it’s small, but I find it charming.”
He shook his head. “I don’t find it boring at all. I agree that this place is charming.”
“Is that why you moved here.”
San shrugged. “It’s part of the reason. The other reason is I just needed to get out of the city. It’s too loud and chaotic. I needed something more stable, if that makes sense?”
“Absolutely.”
There was a brief pause before San said, “Actually, I was about to go see my great aunt to let her know I arrived. You wouldn’t happen to know where I can find her? I tried calling her home phone, which went to voicemail, and her cell phone is always off. I just thought I’d ask since you know everything about this town.”
You gave a sheepish smile. “I know where she’d be. She’s with the quilting society, with my grandma. I can show you there since she spends most of her time there.”
“Yes please.”
So the two of you walked through town, you pointing out places of interest and San telling you how the town differed from the city. Conversation came easy with him and you found that every time he placed a hand on your arm to direct you from people walking in the opposite direction, you felt your heart skip a beat. Could it be that your meddling grandmother was starting to get to you? Were you really falling for Choi San? You begged internally to keep him securely in the friend zone, but you knew deep down inside that wasn’t going to happen. Not if your grandmother and his great aunt had anything to say about it.
When you arrived at the quilting society, you opened the door for him, to which he gave you a skeptical look. “You know, it’s customary for the gentleman to hold the door.”
“I’m sure it is but I reached the door first.” You teased back.
“Next time.” He shot you a wink that made you freeze for only a split second.
“Is that my Sannie?” A shout from the back of the building distracted you.
He chuckled before calling back, “Yes Auntie.”
Instantly, the two of you were swarmed by quilting society members. Of course they commented on how much the two of you’ve grown and how it was so good to see you. They bombarded San with questions about his life from infancy to now. You hung back which eventually caught your grandmother’s attention and she joined you.
“So, are you showing San around?”
You nodded. “I just thought since I know so much about this place, he’d like an unofficial-official tour guide.”
She chuckled and patted your cheek. “Such a good kid. And he’s very handsome isn’t he?”
You tried to force your blush away from your cheeks. “He’s not unattractive, if that’s what you’re trying to say.”
“Well I think you two make a cute couple.”
“Grandma-”
Before you could scold her, San and his great aunt came up to the two of you, his aunt with a big smile on her face. “Sannie was telling me how helpful you’ve been, showing him around and telling him all about our little town. We were wondering if you would like to join us for dinner tonight?”
“That sounds wonderful!” Your grandmother answered before you could. “That way we can start planning the wedding!”
“Grandma no!”

Hello! How are you?
Could I please request a oneshot
Sans x female reader (angst or fluff or a mix of both 😅 or whichever you like)
Sans is sick with a cold / flu and the female reader takes care of him?
If you can't or don't want to, then no problem, it's okay! Thank you!
Have a great time! 😁
Hiya! I’m doing well, hbu?
AHHHH MY FIRST REQUEST I'M SO EXCITED!! ALR ALR I WANNA GET STRAIGHT INTO IT!
Warnings : Sans puns
You groggily wake up in the Snowdin inn (Or as Sans calls it, the Snowdinn) to a phone call. You rubbed your eyes and answered.
“Papyrus, can’t you get Sans to read you a bedtime story? It’s like 2 in the morning…”
Papyrus sighed on the other line.
“It’s not that human! Sans is sick! He seems to have the flu. While I, the Great Papyrus, could easily take care of him, he requested you, and you specifically!”
You pinch yourself. You're not dreaming. Who knew monsters could get sick? But your stomach soon filled with dread.
“Is it bad?”
The sound of metal falling on the ground startled you.
“Nyeh! Cursed bowl full of inconspicuous water! Sorry human, a bowl full of inconspicuous water fell off the stove! I was going to make some spaghetti for Sans. I was going to use that water! But Sans obviously knew he was going to get sick, and so in a brilliant move, he went through space and time to give me a bowl of hot water! And I’ve soiled it!”
Well, you weren’t too worried. If it was bad, Papyrus would have been panicking. Probably.
“Mhm. Tell Sans I’ll be there in a bit Paps. See you.”
“Farewell Human!”
“And tell him I’ll check his temperature.”
You really don’t know if that would work but oh well. Better safe than sorry.
You got your faded ribbon and muscle glove and headed out to Sans and Papyrus’s house. How do you take care of a sick skeleton exactly? You didn’t even know monsters, much less skeletons, could get sick. Do you just treat them like a sick human?
You enter their home and head up to Sans’s room before noticing he was just on the couch, covered in ketchup and not wearing his jacket.
“Hey Sans. You doin’ ok?”
Sans looked over and shrugged.
“Good as I’ll ever be. Wanna do some Netflix and chills?”
You roll your eyes, smiling, as Sans laughs at his own joke. He’s used that pun before and it caught you so off guard and you got so red he asked if your SOUL moved up to your face. He just wanted to see you do that again! But, you manage to not blush.
“Aww don’t give me that look.”
You sit down next to him and offer a hug. He accepts it and puts his head down on your chest. Maybe it was just because you lived in Snowdin and it was somehow perpetually cold, but Sans did seem very warm. He swore his favorite place to lay was your chest to hear your heart, and maybe that was true. But it was also just comfy laying on your breasts.
“Ah! Welcome human! You came just in time to taste test the spaghetti!”
You gave a polite smile and you and Papyrus talked while Sans fell asleep. As much as you liked Papyrus, the fact that not even Sans could get past the fact that his brother's cooking wasn’t very good is a testament. But you and Undyne also agree that Papyrus is improving, Sans even more so.
“Hey Paps, can you get some napkins so I can clean some of this ketchup off?”
Papyrus got some napkins and handed them to you. He went back to the kitchen to continue cooking the spaghetti. You wiped the ketchup off of the places you could and sighed. Silly Sans.
You remember when you first met. You had just left the ruins, and Sans was messing with you. Stepping on branches behind you and appearing and disappearing in the distance. Then he tapped your shoulder, so you whipped around and hit him with your Toy Knife. You were so surprised and scared. Blood was dripping everywhere. But then Sans just took a sliced bottle of Heinz ketchup out of his jacket and simply said ‘Damn. In Heinz sight, that wasn’t a good idea.’
You grabbed a blanket and put Sans’s head on your shoulder and covered him up. But to your surprise, a thermometer fell out of his pocket. You grab it and notice it’s covered in warm water.
“Sans.”
You could tell Sans was doing that little gremlin smile that he does whenever he gets you with a whoopie cushion.
“You're not sick, are you?”
Sans got up and shrugged, putting his jacket on.
“Alright alright I admit. I feel fine. I guess you could just say I was feeling… bonely.”
Man. You should have known that bowl of inconspicuous water was, in fact, very conspicuous.
GAHH I’m sorry it was so short :( BUT! Since sans simps are well and alive (I presume at least) more Sans content probably on the way.

Jung Wooyoung had been your first love. You two had dated for only about five months before things turned sour, but the impact those few months had on you was long-lasting. Of course, you had been in love with him long before you actually got together. And it didn't help that you were the only one who seemed to find it so hard to move on while he appeared perfectly happy.
It happened back when you were both in high school, so naturally you were both a bit immature and made mistakes. But the difference was that at the end of the day, you were always willing to learn from them and do better, because you loved him and really wanted it to work. He, on the other hand, never cared enough to try, and it made you feel like you weren't worth the effort.
It didn't seem to faze him at all when you finally ended things, which left you wondering if he ever even loved you in the first place. Because if he cared even half as much as you did, it shouldn't have been so easy for him to walk away, right? Then you would think back to the start of your relationship - the good times you had, the sweet things he did for you - and you would start questioning where it went wrong. Surely, he didn't just wake up one day and fall out of love? Something must have triggered it. You had been so sure you were destined to be together; you fit like two puzzle pieces. How exactly did you mess up? Then you would have to remind yourself that the onus wasn't just on you; it takes two to make any relationship work. You would remind yourself of all the things that had been wrong with the relationship, that you were better off without him. But love tends to blind you to those faults, doesn't it? And when a jarring alarm plunged you back into reality, it hurt all over again. But you couldn't help it, he had been your dream for so long that you had forgotten how to let go.
* * *
Choi San is your best friend. You shared a class on the first day of college where he made some snide comment about the racist professor, and you found it so funny that the sip of water you had just taken came spewing out of your nose. Needless to say, you two had been inseparable since then. Almost a whole year into your friendship, he confessed he had developed feelings for you. He knew that you didn't feel the same, and assured you he didn't expect anything of you. He just wanted to be honest about what he felt. You braced yourself for the end of your friendship - but surprisingly, it persevered. And so things went back to normal. Well, almost - you stopped talking to him about your lingering feelings for Wooyoung.
* * *
You don't know when exactly those feelings faded.
Graduation is in a few months and you can hardly believe it. You're at the park near your university where you've spent countless afternoons. A dozen more afternoons to go and you won't be able to do this anymore. You look over at San lying on the grass next to you, his eyes closed, his mouth turned upwards in a content smile. The sun on his cheeks. The soft breeze ruffling his hair. You find yourself smiling, too.
You don't know when these new feelings started making themselves known, either. Or what set them off, for that matter.
Maybe it was that time you called him in the middle of the night when the power was out. You hadn't expected him to answer even if he was somehow awake, because you had just had an argument that day and hadn't talked since. You didn't argue often but when you did, you both needed a bit of space for a day or two to sulk, before eventually talking it out and making up. So it hadn't even been a whole day since the fight, and if it weren't for the dark, and the thunderstorm roaring outside, and the nightmare you had just woken up crying from, you wouldn't even have called him but you did. Because he was the only person that came to mind. And he answered, like he always did. And that was the first time he sang to you. His voice felt like being kissed on the forehead as you drifted off to sleep.
Or maybe the time you showed him your plushie collection and he got so excited you couldn't handle how cute he was.
Or the time you got so worried when he missed class one day and he wouldn't answer any of your calls or texts and it turned out it was because he had to take a wounded kitten to the vet.
Or the time you cooked him his favourite meal for his birthday and he wouldn't stop boasting about it to everyone.
“What are you staring at?” the sound of his voice pulls you back to the present, and you realise your eyes have been glued to his face for who knows how long.
He arches an eyebrow at you, his soft smile stretching out into a teasing grin, and you could swear you feel butterflies in your stomach. Butterflies that you thought had long died, back in highschool.
“Nothing,”
He shakes his head, resuming his sun bath. You resume admiring his features.
This wasn't pity or gratitude, you were sure. You didn't know what this was yet but you knew it wasn't that. And you knew that whatever this was, it felt as warm and golden as the sunlight on your faces.
You lay down next to him, scooting a little closer than you usually would. If he notices this, he doesn't say anything. You try to think of the last time you thought about Wooyoung and find that surprisingly, you can't remember. And nor does it bother you. He is no longer the face that frequents your dreams, or the name that makes your heart do summersaults.
Your fingers softly graze San's. He doesn't respond at first, and you think he's fallen asleep. Then they twitch, just a little - hesitant, confused. Your fingertips caress the side of his hand every so lightly, and you link your little finger with his. There's a brief pause. Then he takes your hand in his, and you give it a tight squeeze. He squeezes back. All this, while the rest of your bodies lay motionless and your hearts race like the wings of a hummingbird. All this, while your eyes are closed and your giddy smiles light up your faces like the sun.
A passerby might not have noticed this little interaction. Even if they did, they wouldn't think much of it - just two friends fiddling around, or maybe a couple enjoying their date. But only the two of you would know the gravity of this moment. Only the two of you feel the silent shift in your relationship, of new dreams taking shape. A small step in the eyes of everyone else, a giant leap for the both of you.

An Imprisoned Nightingale
Tumblr media
Author: bvidzsoo
Warnings: violence, a lot of manhandling, cursing, and mentions of human trafficking
Pairing: Choi San x female reader
Word count: 15,4k
Summary: Choi San was everything you needed him to be. A hunter? He’d hunt down anything for you. An assassin? You wanted someone dead, he’d do it. An inside man? That information you needed; he’d bring it to you. He was a mercenary. Ruthless, fearless, uncaring, unfeeling. All he dreamed of was money and power. Everyone who heard his name feared him, people stepped aside on a busy road for him, women never approached him out of fear of being captured and then sold by him. You loved singing, despite working as a waitress, you dreamed of performing on a stage one day. Your whole life you've worked hard, knowing that one day you'll be discovered and your life would change; you'd become a performer for the wealthy. And your life did change, but instead, you became a prisoner, soon to be sold off by nobody else than Choi San. (Reader is called Im Ara in the following oneshots.)
A/N: My God, writing this was a whole ass ride, I want to punch San personally lol. It's never explicitly said that it's human trafficking, but it's quite obvious that it's that. :// I don't go into much detail about it, so yeah...the third part of the series is up and I hope you'll enjoy it. Hongjoong's part will be up in around two to three weeks because I'm going on vacation. If you want to be added to the taglist, just comment on the post. And don't forget to let me know what you think about this part, enjoy now!

The sun shone down on the little cottage sitting by the end of the cobblestone street, stationed somewhere on the outskirts of the bustling city. The neighborhood was quiet, most families living in the neighboring cottages being of working class, with three to four children. I liked this part of the city, because everyone was nice and it was clean. The further you ventured inside the city, the dirtier and louder it got. It was an industrial city and the markets reeked of fish and pigs; the smells combined disgusting. If I could, I stayed away from that side of the city, content with the serenity the outskirts offered. And perhaps living here felt like I was closer to achieving my dreams. If I walked down the path leading towards the forest and hiked for an hour, I would arrive to a huge clearing adorned by a house smaller than a castle, yet bigger than a mansion. The Royal Family loved coming here during the summer, it was their little hideout. Wealthy businessmen and gorgeous rich ladies would walk the streets, all headed towards the Royal Family’s place, invited for an afternoon tea or perhaps a midnight ball. I always peaked out the window when I heard horses pulling carriages by the house, knowing very well that all I could do for now was admire from afar. I was working towards to achieving my dream, but I was still a long way from it. The false sense of richness and wealth this little cottage offered was nothing but fake. I could barely afford it, sometimes not having money for weeks lead me to cultivating my own garden, which turned out to be a lot harder to do than I had initially expected it to be. The elderly family living next door wasn’t very keen of the idea, saying it lured foxes and other kinds of animals from the forest, threatening their chickens and other pets they kept around, acting as if their animals weren’t the ones drawing in the wild life from the forest. I learned to ignore the couple’s nagging, but continued keeping an eye on them, making sure they wouldn’t attempt sabotaging my little garden.
I had opened the windows, the warm breeze carrying inside as I dusted everything off with a wet cloth. It’s been a week since I’ve had a full day to myself, and so I took advantage of it, and cleaned up my house. It was quite easy and fast as it had only three chambers and a small bathroom, however, my thoughts stole me away from reality quickly and so, this simple task turned into an unnecessarily longer one. The modest pink dress I was wearing seemed to turn into a carefully designed, soft fabric, night gown, making me look like a princess. My short hair always seemed to be pulled into intricate braids, quite impossible in real life as I could barely tie it up into a low ponytail. And the wet cloth I was holding in my hands suddenly turned into a white tissue, or sometimes a small purse, occupying my hands, saving me from feeling too awkward. My humble living room turned into a huge ballroom decorated by expensive marble and low hanging golden chandeliers, paintings from other Kingdoms brought in, captivating everyone’s attention. The living room which only I was occupying was suddenly filled with hundreds of wealthy people, laughing and conversing, enjoying each other’s company. I stood to the sidelines, observing everyone, finding myself smiling at a little girl dancing by herself. She seemed to be lost in her own world, oblivious to everyone around her as she went closer to the band of musicians, the violin catching her attention. My legs started moving and I found myself walking over, approaching her.
“Pretty instrument, isn’t it?” I asked softly, making her look at me with big eyes.
“It sounds lovely.” She said shyly, looking away when I glanced at her. I nodded my head and clasped my hands behind myself, having to agree with the little girl.
“You’re quite lovely as well, little one.” I said with a smile and the girl chuckled, twirling around, showing off her pale blue dress. It complimented her similar colored eyes well, her tan skin glowing underneath the candle lights.
“I like the shade of pink your dress has.” She complimented me back, showing how well raised she was. I thanked her quietly and a woman rushed towards us, panting lightly.
“Here you were,” She muttered as she took her daughter’s hand into hers, slightly relaxing, “Stop walking away from me, Y/N, it’s not safe for a little girl like you to be alone.”
How peculiar, her name was the same as mine. The woman finally seemed to notice me and when she looked up, and made eye contact with me, she seemed to be in awe. She smiled brightly and extended her hand.
“It’s an honor meeting you, Miss Im,” She spoke up as I shook her hand, “My name is Im Nara.”
“Lovely meeting you, Mrs. Im.” I said pleasantly, listening to the woman’s rant about her wishing to meet me sooner but she wasn’t capable of attending balls due to her daughter being too young, and her wish was to bring her child to these exquisite gatherings with herself. I felt accomplished as I listened to the woman, her praises warming my heart, allowing me to take pride in myself. I have worked hard to get on this level, to be recognized and appreciated by men and women alike, even children. Anyone who had a mildly nice voice could become a recognized singer in their little town, but I stayed persistent, hard-working, and never allowed anyone to push me down, and that’s how I became so well known in the four seas and four kingdoms. Queens and Kings requested me to sing at their balls, weddings, and sometimes even invited me over for a quiet afternoon tea, making sure I had everything I needed. I was living the lavished life I always wanted and for once in my life, I felt accomplished.
I excused myself from the woman and her child as the lovely musicians stopped playing and announced that a special performer would entertain the guests for an hour now. I smiled and after taking a sip of water, soaking my throat for a little, I walked up to the middle of the stage and bowed my head, “Welcome, everyone, I hope your evening has been lovely so far. Allow me to entertain you for the following hour, I have been Im Y/N.”
And so I allowed my voice to grab everyone’s attention as I started singing a soft tune everyone knew. The song was about a pair in love whom had to go through hardships in life before they found each other and settled for a simple life. The man was a fisherman and the woman a princess, but she gave up everything for him. Her parents were strict and never allowed her to love someone freely, so she ran away from home and accidentally bumped into the love of her life on a pirate ship. Not many lived to tell the tale of such an encounter as pirates were known to be ruthless and scary, yet somehow, the princess seemed to charm the sailor. Everyone clapped when I finished the song and I cleared my throat, continuing with the next one, my powerful voice resounding in the expanse of the vast room, bouncing back off the walls. Once my little act of entertainment was over, everyone clapped loudly and I bowed deeply, thanking them for their attention and appreciation before I walked off the stage, headed to the little bar to ask for some water to freshen up my vocal chords.
A few minutes have barely passed since I had gotten off the stage and I was already surrounded by various people, each trying to grab my attention. I chatted with the lovely ladies, complimenting their outfits or jewelry, getting invited to their get togethers in return as a performer. The single wealthy men seemed to watch me from afar before reluctantly approaching me, remaining delicate as if they were scared I would run away. Some tried to win me over with tales of their doings, or by bragging about their money, something I wasn’t interested in. The one and only question they had to answer was that if we ever fell in love and married one day, would they want me to be a pretty trophy staying at home all day long and doing nothing or would they let me to continue my singing career. If the answer was that they’d prefer I stayed at home, I would excuse myself and find company from someone else, however if they said I was allowed to continue singing, I would entertain the conversation, wondering if we were a match made in Heaven. However, nobody ever seemed to be good enough. Their personalities just pushed me away as I didn’t feel appreciated enough, and I found peace in my solace, content with being able to fend for myself and live a happy life.
The King’s second cousin seemed to find me in the crowd of people and he invited me over to their table, asking me to sit with them. It was an honor, so I couldn’t refuse. I greeted everyone politely and the women were quick to ask where my gown was from and if they sent an invite to sing at their birthday parties, if I would come. I chuckled and told them that if I was free I would gladly do so, making them squeal in excitement before they whispered to each other excitedly. I accepted the glass of champaign from the King’s second cousin and he made a silly toast, the table erupting in laughter. As I took a sip from the champaign, I felt eyes watching me. I attempted to look around the room, but the culprit was sitting right across from me. He was a very handsome man. His jet-black hair was gelled back, a few stray strands falling into his sharp, slit like eyes, their color a deep brown. His lips were plump and glistened from having licked them after taking a sip of his own champaign, the bridge of his nose tall, complimenting his manly face well. His aura was rather intimidating, yet no malice radiated off of him. Catching myself staring at him, I blushed, and quickly looked away, making the man smile. His whole demeanor seemed to change once a charming smile was on his lips, he looked rather endearing. He was wearing a General’s uniform, making it quite clear that he was part of the Royal Guard. I have never seen such good-looking man, and I found myself wishing to talk to him, bewitched. He seemed to be quiet as he observed the people around the table, only speaking when spoken to and rarely laughing or smiling. My heartrate picked up when we made eye contact again, becoming shy as he flashed me a small smile, his adorable dimples showing. The King’s second cousin tapped my hand to gain my attention and I looked at him with a smile, trying to focus on the conversation at hand rather than at the handsome General.
“Tell us, Miss Im,” The King’s cousin started, with a cheeky smile, “Still haven’t found your other half?”
I chuckled, a little embarrassed that my love life was brought up in front of the General, but played it off, “I haven’t, Sir, it seems as though the perfect match for a hopeless romantic like myself doesn’t exist.”
The people at the table laughed at my words, apparently funnier than I thought they were as I was being honest, but it seemed to gain the General’s attention. He sat up straighter in his seat and raised his glass when he caught me peaking at him, lightly tilting it in my direction. I grabbed my own glass of champagne and nodded, the two of us drinking from our glasses at the same time, “Well, dear Miss Im, I feel it became my personal mission to find you an educated and well-mannered man.”
I truly wished the King’s second cousin stopped talking, but he was tipsy and his filters disappeared, “Everyone at this table, however, is already married—”
“I am not.” All eyes fell on the General, who’s voice demanded respect, not too deep yet not high pitched either. I couldn’t help but blush and avert my eyes when his gaze became too much, and the King’s second cousin let out a satisfied sound.
“How silly of me!” He exclaimed, and stood, taking my hand in his, “Let’s introduce you to General Choi.”
Despite wanting to act coy, I couldn’t help but feel excited as the King’s cousin walked us around the table, towards the General, who stood up. I couldn’t help but find myself mesmerized by his presence, his eyes drawing me in. Who was this man? Have I finally found my other half? And as the General extended a white glowed hand to shake, loud knocking caught my attention. I glanced around to see if anyone else heard it, but nobody moved, nobody reacted. I smiled, a little tense, and went to shake the General’s hand, when the knocking turned into banging. I jumped, frightened, watching as the image around me became washed out, fading away. I panicked and tried to hold onto the General’s hand, desperately wishing for him to be real, but instead, I found myself crashing against the front door.
“Im Y/N! Open the door!” The scratchy voice of the landlady made me groan, head resting against the door as my perfect fantasy faded away. I wasn’t the famous singer anymore attending balls of the wealthy, getting invited to get togethers and birthday parties, meeting the love of my life. I was just a poor girl living in a cottage I could barely afford, working at an Inn which didn’t pay well, and also, I have barely cleaned anything in the house.
I sighed, and opened the front door, “Were you trying to ignore me, cheeky girl?!”
“No, Mrs. Yoon, I was just—”
“Disturbing everyone with your loud screeching.” The woman interrupted me rudely, making my jaw clench. The one screeching here was her and not me.
“Where’s my money, anyway?” My eyebrows furrowed and I quickly glanced behind me, eyes falling on the calendar I designed myself placed on the wall. The end of the month would be in two weeks, why was she asking for rent right now?
“You’re a bit early on rent, Mrs. Yoon—”
“I’m not early, you’re the one late.” I sucked in a deep breath, telling myself that it was alright if she interrupted me, “You didn’t pay last month, and haven’t paid this month either.”
“Because it’s not the end of the month, yet.” I tried to reason with the old woman, but she just scoffed and gave me a glare.
“You have until the end of the week to pay me last month’s and this month’s rent, young lady.” My stomach churned at her words, realizing I didn’t have enough money for that. And I wouldn’t have by the end of the week either, “And stop screaming.”
That was the last straw as my patience evaporated and I snapped at the old hag, eyes narrowed at her, “I’m singing, not screaming!”
The old woman just scoffed and turned on her heels, stalking off as she kept throwing glares at my way, making me grimace at her before I slammed the door shut, doom seemingly looming over my head. I can’t lose the cottage, what am I supposed to do now?!
My free day passed by quickly and I found myself almost oversleeping my shift, having to get ready in a frenzy. Usually the afternoon naps I took to be able to work all night long were short, however, after working all day in the garden beforehand left me tired and I didn’t wake up in time. I was lucky I had prepared my dress before going to sleep and all I had to do was put it on before running out the door, wishing I owned a horse as I would get to the Inn faster. It was a good twenty minutes’ walk away, on top of a hill to make my life even more torturing than it already was. The petite sandals I wore to match the dress weren’t made for running and my feet kept tangling together every second step, making me lose my cool quite quickly. I could usually control my temper, but sometimes the smallest things got to me. However, I managed to be on time and the Inn’s owner gave me a glance and a nod of approval before she told me to put on my apron and start waitering the tables. Thankfully, I managed to convince the owner to allow me to sing in the weekends, entertain the guests a little without her having to pay me for it, the tips of the people would do. At the beginning it was awkward as the people seemed to find it weird, but after getting used to it, more and more people started coming to the Inn, intrigued by the new form of fun. Sometimes drunk sailors who were passing through the city would ask me to sing them old tales, something I didn’t know even existed until now, making me become an expert at them in about just a month. Sometimes people wished for lullabies, some sad ones, and I would do as they asked despite the Inn not being a place for feeling nostalgic. My favorite ones were the catchy ones, to which everyone sang along and sometimes even danced if the atmosphere was right.
Tonight it seemed to be a busy night as all tables were occupied, somebody entering the Inn every fifteen minutes. My act of entertainment lasted less as I had to help out the other girls, but I promised to sing to the people more when I had a little free time, making them cheer loudly. Unfortunately, my singing career hasn’t taken off in the real world like in my fantasy world, I was not invited to wealthy outings. I hoped and prayed every night that it would happen sooner than later, trusting in it and allowing the Heaven’s to guide me. I couldn’t let my dream go to waste; I wouldn’t accept living a normal, regular life. Not when I was talented, not when I loved singing. I knew my worth, I knew I deserved more than working in a run-down Inn, the payment not even enough to live in a nice, small cottage.
“Hey, Y/N, bring us another jug!” I heard a regular calling out drunkenly and I sighed, running up to the bar and filling five jugs with beer. I placed them on my tray and walked up to their table, placing the jugs of beer on the table and taking the empty ones. As I was walking back to the bar to wash the used jugs, I felt someone tugging on my skirt, halting my steps. I turned around, eyebrows furrowed at who was grabbing me.
“Can you bring us more beer too?” It was a man, teeth crocked and clothes dirty, quite foul smelling. I tried to keep a straight face, having not recognized him as he wasn’t a local. I nodded wordlessly and yanked the skirt of my dress out of his grip, sighing to myself. The other girls were working hard, everyone busy with their own tables and I watched one as I filled three more jugs with beer. She was the youngest and quite pretty, but she allowed men to touch her too much. They were all over her, groping her, saying disgusting things to her. And she remained silent, she just took it, and even flirted back, making me feel sick to my stomach. No man has ever touched me, not here and not anywhere else. I wouldn’t allow a lowlife to taint me, when I knew there were good man out there too, the ones who were on my level, the ones who would treat me right. I walked with the jugs of beer back to the table of the unknown man, placing them down on the table. They looked at me and snickered at each other, but I ignored it. I was usually very nice to everyone, always smiling and soft-spoken, but I did not like their approach towards me, therefore I tried to convey the very obvious message without having to say something. However, they seemed to not catch onto it, as the same man who grabbed me before, suddenly held onto my skirt again.
“Listen, pretty lady,” He slurred, making me glare down at him, “We’re just passing through the city and decided to stop here tonight, heard there was a really good singer. And you weren’t just good, look at how beautiful you are too!”
“Thank you.” I managed to say and tried to pull my skirt out of his grip, but he was holding it rather firmly.
“Do you get paid enough?” I didn’t answer his intruding question, just tugged on the skirt again, “Well, there’s always more ways to make money, beautiful, and I could give you not just that, but a memorable night too—”
“Let go of my skirt, right now.” I snapped, my voice raising. The man looked taken aback by my demeanor, all softness and kindness having disappeared.
“That’s not how a lady should talk like—”
“I said, let go of my skirt.” I yanked rather harshly on it, finally getting it free from his grip. The man didn’t seem too happy and when I went to walk away, he grabbed my wrist, looking at me with a sneer.
“You should respect men more—” I chuckled, gripping his wrist back with my other hand, glaring at him as I cut his words off.
“A lowlife like you should respect women more—” Then I squeezed his wrist hard, making him hiss as he released my hand suddenly, “And don’t touch me.”
Well, I have angered the man now, and he stood up, trying to get all up in my face, but I pushed him hard enough to have him sit back down. He was being loud and a few people started glancing our way, “How dare a bitch like you talk to me like that?! As if you don’t sell your body—”
The slap which cut his words off resounded in the whole room, making people look at us wide eyed. The man was speechless for a few seconds, before his hands turned into fists and he jumped up, about to punch me, but a man stood in front of me, gripping the foreigner’s collar, “We don’t appreciate men who hurt women here, buddy.”
It was the regular who asked for beers before these hooligans, “My advice is you either settle down or get lost.”
The regular was a big man and despite his friendly aura and happy demeanor, he was scary whenever he got angry. You rarely saw him angry, so that’s why it was even scarier when he truly was. He was quite gentle with all the girls here and on busy nights we found him lingering around, looking out for us without a reason. Later we found out he was the owner’s nephew and felt like we were exposed to men like this foreigner, who did not know how to behave, quite frequently, so when he had nothing else to do he’d keep an eye out for us.
The owner of the Inn assessed the situation as she came out from the backroom, and quickly approached us, asking her nephew to release the foreigner, “Sir, please calm down and don’t cause a scene—”
“That bitch can’t behave!” The drunk sailor pointed at me as he screamed, making the owner’s nephew take a threatening step towards him. The sailor cowered a little bit and sat down as his comrades started telling him to stop it, realizing the man looking out for me could knock them out in a fight anytime. He was twice their sizes. The owner motioned for me to follow her and I turned at her nephew for a second, thanking him quietly, before walking towards the backroom.
“What happened out there?” She asked as she sat down in her chair, eyebrows furrowed. I sat opposite her, crossing my arms in front of my chest.
“He started touching me and implying disgusting things, so I asked him to stop and he didn’t listen…” I trailed off, looking away as the owner narrowed her eyes at me.
“Did you slap the man?” She knew me too well; I couldn’t even lie. This wouldn’t be the first incident; she has already warned me to behave. I could only hope she wouldn’t fire me; I really didn’t know what I would do next then.
“I did—”
“You should head home,” My eyes widened at the owner’s words, confused as to why, “Your shift would end in an hour either way, so it doesn’t matter much. I don’t have the money, so come back tomorrow for the payment.”
I nodded and got up from the chair, untying the apron from my waist and placing it on her desk, “I’ll see you tomorrow then, good night.” I bowed my head and she stopped me as I got to the door.
“Be careful on your way home, I heard Ateez docked down in the city a few days ago.” When I continued to look confused at my boss, her eyebrows furrowed, “Women have been disappearing, Y/N, I’m telling you to look out.”
“Oh,” I chuckled and brushed off her words, my route not taking me towards the center of the city, “Thank you for your concern, but don’t worry, I’ll be fine.”
“I’ll see you tomorrow then.” My boss muttered and I bowed my head before going outside, leaving through the back of the Inn, not wanting to see that foul foreigner again. I couldn’t guarantee that I wouldn’t have slapped him again if I did see him. Men like him disgusted me. I hated these types of so-called men. They held no value in my eyes, they worth nothing.
I checked my surroundings, my boss’ words getting a little bit to me, but I knew there was nothing to be afraid of. The crime rate in this city was low and since I lived towards the outskirts of it, it was safer than walking towards the center, where the markets were. At night it was littered with drunk men, looking for one-night stands. Perhaps if I lived there, I would have been scared walking alone at night, but here it was fine. I was humming to myself, skipping from one cobalt stone to the other, imagining that I was walking towards my carriage to head back to my little mansion. I would take a bath there, have a ravishing dinner and perhaps gaze at the stars in my rose garden before going to sleep. My butler would be already asleep, and I’d try to remain quiet as to not wake him up, but he’d still wake up, and so I’d ask him to join me in the garden, point out the constellations I was unable to see. He loved astronomy and would talk about it a lot, passing his interest onto me as well. Footsteps behind me made me snap out of my daydream and I looked behind, but nobody was there. I rolled my eyes and continued walking, figuring it was a stray animal or something. But a few minutes later I heard it again, now faster and harder, and before I could panic and take off running, I felt a body collide against mine. I would’ve screamed if it weren’t for the cloth pressed harshly against my mouth and nose, smelling foul, the smell making my throat itch as I inhaled it. I wanted to push this person away, but my muscles went numb fast and my vision started blurring, until it became blacker than the night sky.
Tumblr media
My stomach was violently ill when I finally came to it, the stench of fish unbearable as it made me gag. I moved the back of my hand against my nose, trying to repress the smell, but it wasn’t doing much. My ears seemed to be ringing and I was thrown forward, as if something crushed into us. I didn’t understand the predicament I woke up to at first, confusedly looking around, until my eyes fell on the iron bars holding me captive in a small dice shaped cage. The weight around my wrists finally caught my attention and I looked at them flabbergasted, tugging on the chain, to no avail. I was chained against the wall, having little freedom to move around in the cage. My eyebrows furrowed as I tried to remember how and when I got here, but my last memory was of walking home after my boss sent me off. And then it clicked, the foul-smelling cloth pressed against my nose and mouth, I was drugged. I was drugged and brought onto this…ship? A lump formed in my throat as I frantically looked around, assessing the situation, trying to think of something. However, my heart beat faltered when I saw the other girls around me. There were three more cages besides the one I was in and two scared looking girls in each one of them. A quiet whimper caught my attention and I looked to my right, eyes falling on a younger looking girl, who was curled up in a ball, eyes teary. Her wide eyes looked at me, fright bouncing off of her. My heart started beating faster as things started sinking in, and I found it harder to breathe. My throat was closing in on me, restricting any air from getting to my lungs. I tried to divert my attention to anything else, even find comfort in one of my fantasy scenarios, but nothing seemed to work as I felt my face going red, starting to gasp for air.
“Hey, you!” I heard someone slightly raising their voice, making my head snap in their direction. Across from us, in the cage to the right, a middle-aged woman was looking my way, eyebrows furrowed, “What’s your name?”
I licked my lips and tried to suck in a deep breath, but it wasn’t working and I felt like I was about to choke, “No-no, keep breathing, copy me.”
The middle-aged woman started taking deep breaths, counting for me, and I tried to copy her, but nothing happening for a few minutes. Then suddenly, I could feel my throat loosening up and air finally flowing into my lungs, filling them to the brim. I started coughing as I desperately breathed in more air, looking at the woman with gratefulness written all over my face, “My name is Y/N.”
“I’m Hyolin.” She introduced herself and I bowed my head slightly, noticing that she was the only one not crying besides me. Her eyes were red and she kept sniffing, but no tears left her eyes, “We’re on a pirate ship, if you’ve been wondering.”
My heart started beating faster again as I looked around, pulling on the chains of my handcuffs, but they were too strong to break. The chamber was huge and it looked like some sort of basement, filled with supplies, barrels, and a big variety of guns and other weapons. I could see a fishnet filled with a bunch of dead fish and it made my stomach sicker, forcing me to gag as I averted my eyes, falling on my cellmate. She was crying quietly and I fought my own tears from rolling down my cheeks, trying to stop my brain from processing that I was a hostage on a pirate ship.
“For how long was I out?” I whispered to the young girl and she jumped, slowly looking at me. Her body was shaking and she looked at the floor before whispering back that I was out for a whole day. It felt like a punch to my gut and I looked away biting my lower lip, realizing that if I was out for a whole day, we have sailed out onto the sea already, taking me far away from my home. My head started thumping suddenly, all of my dreams slipping right through my fingers. I would never become a famous singer, I would never live a lavished life, I will never be remembered. Instead, I would be either sold off or killed, forever lost on the sea or in some creepy man’s basement. The first tear trickled down my cheek and I quickly wiped it off, the commotion behind the heavy wooden door making my body tremble. There were multiple male voices behind the door before it slowly opened, strong light flooding inside as they walked down the stairs, stalking towards our cages. All of us tried to make ourselves look smaller as the three pirates stopped in front of our cages, looking left and right before opening the cage across from ours.
“Stand up, all of you.” The man inside the respective cage demanded, his voice harsh and frightening, so we did as told. I could only see his backside, but he had jet-black hair and his shoulders were wide and concealed by a black leather jacket. The man seemed to be inspecting all of us, murmuring to himself about our looks. Normally, I wouldn’t have allowed him to make such comments, but right now I was not in a favorable position and my body was shaking from fear. I had no idea why he was doing this and I was scared that one wrong move would get me killed. On this ship I couldn’t do much but try and survive, however, once on land, I could try and run away, asking for help and making sure these monsters were behind bars, in a real prison. The tallest of the three seemed to notice my piercing gaze and I quickly looked down when he raised his eyebrows, lips pulling into an amused smile. There was nothing amusing about this situation.
“So, what do you think?” The other guy, who was the shortest out of them all and had a white cloth wrapped around his right forearm, signaling that he was the Captain, asked in a quite bored tone.
“They aren’t the brightest so far.” The man inspecting us dared to say with a sneer, checking the other girls. My blood boiled at his words, but I bit my lip and continued glaring at the floor.
“We can’t afford making a shitty deal, San.” The Captain snapped, arms crossed in front of his chest, “Not after Yuri almost destroyed our ship and Jongho released our Siren.”
The tallest scratched his nape, pouting, “Well, it wasn’t entirely Jongho’s fault, Captain…we should probably thank the Siren he’s still alive, to be honest—”
“Whatever, Mingi,” The Captain snapped, shooting him a glare, “If we don’t get high payment on these girls I’m afraid we’ll have to return to our old ways of survival for a while.”
San, the one checking all girls, opened our cage as he snickered, “I don’t mind at all. It’s been too long since I had bloodied my sword.”
My body shivered and my cellmate started crying loudly as San touched her hair, moving it out of her face, forcing her to look him in the eyes. I wished I could’ve punched the man and held the crying girl, but I was rooted to my place, just as frightened as her. I refused to show my true feelings, however, having no intention of showing weakness to these monsters. I tensed up once I saw a pair of glistening black shoes stop in front of me, the man’s presence powerful. I lowered my head even more, for once wishing I had longer hair so that it would cover my face, restrict the men from seeing it. San tsked as he harshly grabbed my chin and raised my head by it, our eyes finding each other. Perhaps in a different scenario I would’ve been easily charmed by the man standing in front of me, his beauty unmatched. His jet-black hair fell messily on his forehead, he had clearly run his fingers through it numerous times. His sharp, slit like eyes, their color a deep brown were intense, keeping you pinned to your place, and I found myself scared to even breathe as we stared each other down. His lips were plump and glistened from having licked them just seconds ago, the bridge of his nose tall, complimenting his manly face well. He was intimidating and I fought against my will of wanting to cover away from him, refusing to show him any fear despite the very obvious tears gathered up in my eyes. Suddenly, he chuckled and smirked, eyes running all over my face, then down my body before stopping on my hair again.
“I knew you’d bring us a lot of money when I spotted you last night,” My jaw clenched as his words made the Captain and the other man, called Mingi, look my way, “You’re drop dead gorgeous, angel, pity your hair isn’t longer, you would’ve made us even more money.”
My jaw clenched and I ripped my head out of his hold, looking off to the side, head turned away from him. I couldn’t believe such malice could hide behind such a beautiful face. I hated him as he chuckled, looking me over one more time before he walked out of our cage, locking the iron door behind him, smirking at the Captain.
“We’ll be filthy rich, Hongjoong.” San said with the evilest laughter I’ve ever heard and the other two men chuckled as the three of them took off, headed for the stairs. The silence was deafening as we waited for them to be gone, and I felt the tears finally streaming down my cheeks once they were out the door, locking it behind them. My knees gave out and I fell down, holding my head in my hands as I started sobbing loudly. I felt the pitiful gazes of the other girls and it made me cry even harder. I wished I was so ugly they would just feed me to the sharks, at least I could try and swim away then, have a chance at saving myself. I couldn’t lose my perfect life like this, I just couldn’t.
We couldn’t tell whether it was day or night due to being locked down here, but when Mingi walked in with a few more lanterns and muttered that he’d bring us dinner soon, we realized it was probably around the evening. Everyone seemingly had calmed down a little bit since San examined us, the girls constantly giving me pitiful glances. I hated it, wanted to ask them to stop, but remained quiet. If they thought they were safe because San called just me beautiful, I wouldn’t want to destroy their small sense of security, because I knew how much it meant. I tried to distract myself multiple times, the rocking of the boat making me sleepy but I refused to sleep, scared that the pirates would do something to me. No matter how hard I tried to imagine that I was in a different place, finding a fitting scenario for my current reality, it never lasted for too long. The image became blurry until it disappeared altogether, making me sit on the floor with my back against the wall defeated, wondering where they were taking us. I was from the South Kingdom, living on the furthest island from the mainland. It would take around four to five days to travel between the two on a big ship, but I didn’t know how big and fast these pirates ship was, so I couldn’t judge how much it would take us to arrive. I assumed they were taking us to the Capital, but I wasn’t even sure why I was captured in the first place. Hyolin, who turned out to be the oldest amongst us girls, seemed to be the only one fully understanding the situation, but she refused to tell us. She asked us if we’ve heard about Ateez and Choi San, and remained silent after hearing our answers. I did know Ateez was a pirate crew, but I didn’t know who Choi San was…until today. I assumed he was some sort of trader, but his physique said otherwise. His muscular and well-defined body begged to differ, and the big sword secured around his hips also proved my theory to be true. He was probably something like a soldier, not a trader. I had no idea what ranks pirates had on their ships, but I imagined San to be at the front leading, fighting the enemy.
Not knowing what to do with myself anymore, I found myself quietly humming as three girls had fallen asleep, curled up on the cold floor into themselves, hugging their torsos. The young girl sharing the cage with me had calmed down hours ago, but she wouldn’t stop sniffing and rocking back and forth. She also wasn’t talking to us, so I figured I could try and distract her with a sailor song I knew. I found myself quietly singing, staring off into the distance, looking at nothing in particular as I lost myself in the story of the song. It was about a young woman who lived by the beach by herself and wished to meet her lover who got lost on the sea years ago. They would have been married already, but the mates of her lover said he got shoved into the sea by a big wave, forever lost to the water. The young woman never believed her lover was dead, her gut telling her that he’d return home to her and they’d live a happy life together. And she seemed to be right as one night someone knocked on her door, making her almost faint. It was her lover and he looked better than ever. She flung herself in his arms and they cried for hours, the man telling her everything that’s happened to him after he fell in the sea. Apparently, some mermaids saved him but kept him hostage, scared that he’d lead other sailors to their lair. After years of teaching them about humans and helping them whenever one of them was sick, they finally released the man, trusting him enough to keep the secret about their existence. The woman couldn’t care less about mermaids and finding them, her biggest treasure was sitting right in front of her, all she needed was him.
“Your voice is so beautiful.” The young girl spoke up for the first time willingly since we’ve been here, her voice high pitched and shaky. I looked at her surprised, and smiled at her softly.
“Thank you, dear.” I whispered, resting my chin on my knees, which were pulled up to my chest.
“Where did you learn to sing like that?” She asked, finally willing to converse with us. She had nothing to lose by doing so at this point.
“Nowhere,” I sighed, playing with the skirt of my dress, “My grandparents once took me to their good friends when I was little and they asked if I played any instrument. When I told them I didn’t they told me I could always try and sing, use my own voice as an instrument.”
The young girl listened closely, looking a little curious, “You’ve been singing for a long time, then. Are you famous?”
I chuckled and shook my head, “No, not even a little bit.”
A gloomy feeling seemed to loom over our heads as I sighed loudly, closing my eyes, “It was my dream…to become famous. To sing for the wealthy. To be invited to gatherings and the Royal family’s balls as a performer, but—now I’m a prisoner on a pirate ship. I’ll never become a well-known singer. All of my hard-work was in vain, I just—I wish I was rather dead, than on this ship.”
An amused deep chuckle made all the girls still awake tense. The young girl beside me hid her face again, turning into the wall, her whole body shaking again. I opened my eyes and looked up, startled to find San standing right outside my cage. When did he get here? And how did we not hear him or even notice him until now? His lips were pulled into a twisted smile, looking very amused as he unlocked the door. I watched as he took a step inside, placing a tray of food down on the floor, never breaking eye contact with me. The young girl started whimpering, irritating me to no end, but I didn’t show my feelings. I tried to remain neutral as San stared me down, challenging me with his gaze to look away, to succumb to him. But I would never do that, I refused to cover in front of a lowlife like him.
“You’re not just beautiful, you have a beautiful voice too.” He said sounding almost amazed, an excited glint in his eyes, “You’ll be worth more than I thought initially.”
His words made me gulp and my palms turn into fists, but I refrained myself from saying anything, refusing to feed his energy with mine by being weak. San smirked and slightly leaned down, tilting his head to the side as I glared at him, “And forget about dying, beautiful, because nothing harmful will happen to you as long as you’re under my watch.”
But he was the reason I was even placed in a harmful situation. It was his fault that once we’re on the mainland something horrible will happen to me, to the other women in these cages. It was his fault that I would never achieve my dreams, it being the very few reason I found living worth. I acted without thinking, without considering that the tray of food was both for myself and my cellmate, without considering how hungry she must’ve been, forgetting how hungry I was myself. I kicked the tray with my leg, food getting on the floor, glaring at San with full hatred as his eyes slightly widened, his smug expression slipping for a second. He was far away from me, but it felt like he was breathing down my neck as he stood up straight, wide shoulders pulled back, jaw clenching. His gaze made me shiver involuntarily and he was out of the cage, slamming the door shut before locking it. The young girl jumped and I remained staring at San until he was out of the room, Mingi being the one to bring the other women their dinners. I wanted nothing more but to escape this hell.

One or two days have passed since we’ve been taken prisoners on the pirate ship, but I couldn’t really pin point how much time has passed since I was kidnapped. It was continuously dark down here, where they kept us, and if it weren’t for Mingi always announcing what type of meal he was bringing for us, I wouldn’t have even known what time of the day it was. The atmosphere was quite somber as everyone was scared for their own lives, covering away whenever San entered the room. He kept coming down, sometimes laughing at us and teasing us with vile words, words I tuned out once I realized how foul of a person he was. He did this for his own enjoyment, because he liked seeing us scared and helpless. If I wasn’t on a ship, behind bars, I would’ve stood up for myself, making sure he never disrespected a woman ever again. But I couldn’t do that here, not when my scared cellmate started crying as San told us to change our clothes in front of him. She was begging him to turn around, embarrassed and humiliated when he slapped her hard, shouting at her to shut up. My body was shaking from anger and I clenched my hands into fists, trying to keep my breathing even, not wanting him to see how easily he could get a reaction from me. He smirked the whole time, entertained by the whole ordeal as the girls sniffled and whimpered while changing, covering underneath his intense gaze.
I didn’t feel better than them, I felt violated as his gaze ran over my body hungrily once I was out of my second-hand dress, the silk nightgown I was wearing the only thing concealing my private parts from unwanted eyes. I felt humiliated when he muttered that my freckle covered body was exotic and men would kill each other to get their hands on me, but I didn’t let any emotion show on my face as I held eye contact with him, chin high, as I pulled on the simple white dress he brought for us, staring him down spitefully. San seemed to be enjoying it, eyebrows raising when I threw my dress in front of his feet, making him bend down and pick it up himself, unlike the other girls who handed him their own dresses themselves. I could play innocent and fragile, and I would do just that, but not when my privacy and decency were being violated. Not when I wasn’t treated like a human being, not when I wasn’t respected. San’s lips pulled up in a wide grin, dimples forming on his cheeks, but he didn’t seem happy as he eyed the dress in front of him, shaking his head as he sucked on his cheeks. He probably didn’t expect any type of disrespect or challenge from any of us, thinking we were too scared to stand up for ourselves. But what could happen to me other than dying, while I was on this ship? Nothing, nothing that could scare me into subordination. Despite thinking that San would throw a fit and make me grab my dress and hand it to him, he didn’t, he just leaned down and picked it up, feeling the fabric of it.
“For someone who regards themselves so highly, you look rather cheap, Y/N.” I chuckled, his words triggering me enough to finally show just how irritated I was, but I remained silent. His gaze pinned me to my spot, challenging me as he waited for a retort, but nothing happened. I didn’t speak, didn’t move. He didn’t speak, he didn’t move. It was so quiet in the chamber, that I thought the other girls stopped breathing. A ruckus upstairs seemed to get San’s attention, and finally someone called out to him, telling him to go help them. Our stare down finally came to an end and San walked away with a smirk, dangling the keys to our cages in his hands mockingly. If I could, I would’ve punched him unconscious right then and there, but the chains and iron bars were in my way, so I had to settle with the power of my imagination, where San wasn’t even breathing anymore.
Dinner time had approached once again, and us, the girls, had somewhat calmed down from the whole fiasco from earlier. It took a lot of coercing and encouragement from us for my cellmate to finally stop crying and I sung her whatever songs she wanted to hear, finally lightening her mood. Somehow I got her to smile as Hyolin and I told her funny happenings from our jobs, Hyolin being a baker. The young girl, who’s name we finally found out, was Eunchae. She was barely seventeen and it broke my heart that she was here with us, her whole youth stolen from her. It’s not like I was much older than her, but at least I got to live my life a little bit up until now. She told us her mother had only her and relied on her, so Eunchae was scared what would happen to her mother now that she’s disappeared from her life. We tried reassuring her that her mother would probably figure something out, but it only made Eunchae cry again. I felt bad, so bad for her. And promised myself, that if I could somehow save myself from this nightmare, I’d take her with me. Hyolin was a strong woman, I knew I didn’t have to worry much for her and the other women with us seemed to like her more than Eunchae or I, which was probably good. If Hyolin tried to break free as well, they’d follow her no doubt.
When the heavy door opened, everyone tensed and we watched as Mingi and San walked down with trays of food, each one of them handing them out to two cages. Of course, it came as no surprise, as San chose Eunchae and I’s cage, his eyes amused as I avoided his stare, preoccupied with my nails which had gotten a bit dirty. I didn’t want to see him after what he did earlier, anger cursing through my veins just at the memory of it. But I had to be smart. I was smart despite what everyone thought about me. I survived this long after my grandparents deaths thanks to it. I could be soft and persuasive, fragile looking, in the eyes of men. I knew I played my cards a little bit wrong until now in front of San, but damage control was still doable. I could still act dainty, and blame my previous behavior on the stress I was feeling, if he asked. Once he placed the tray of food on the floor for us, he didn’t leave the cage, just looked around, before leaning against the bars with a smug look, crossing his arms in front of his chest. Today he was wearing a casual fit, a white shirt which was barely buttoned, tucked inside his leather pants. He had two swords on each side of his hips and a long, dark blue, coat kept him warm from the harsh wind up on the deck. My body ached for some sunlight and a breeze, but I knew it wasn’t possible until I was on this ship.
“Well, I come bearing good news,” My heart shouldn’t have skipped a beat at his words, knowing not to hope for anything good since it was coming from this lowlife pirate, “we’re docking down tomorrow on the mainland, isn’t that exciting?”
Nobody answered his question, my body tense as my eyebrows furrowed. What would that mean? What would happen to us?
“Isn’t that exciting?” He repeated himself, his voice hard and it made Eunchae whimper as she quickly nodded her head, afraid he’d slap her again. My blood boiled, but I ignored it, having to play coy for once again.
“One small advice,” San dragged his words out, eyes falling on me, burning a hole in the side of my head, “When you’ll be no longer with me, behave, and your lives will be easier. Men don’t like stubborn and rude women, they like them weak and respectful, especially the men I do business with.”
I wanted to tell him to go jump off the ship, become the sharks dinner, but I bit my lower lip and gulped, still refusing to look at him, knowing very well he was directing his words mainly at me. But I still didn’t fully understand why I was here, and I wanted to know. Hyolin seemed to have accepted her fate long ago, but didn’t care to share it with us, seeing that we were quite literally in the same boat.
“What—” I stuttered, hoping it would look authentic as my voice was small, “What will happen to us once—once we’ll get to the mainland?”
I stared at the floor, playing my role, hopefully, well, “A couple of things, beautiful, but the most important one is that you’ll bring me tons of money.”
I gulped, “How?”
San chuckled as if my question was the funniest ever, crouching down, lowering his head as he was trying to make eye contact with me, but I didn’t look his way, “How, you ask? By selling your body for me.”
My blood ran cold when I heard his words, and my heart started beating like crazy, ears suddenly turning red. My hands started shaking and I clenched them into fists, hoping he wouldn’t notice as San stared at me with a crazed look in his eyes. No, this couldn’t be happening. I was pure, I was untouched, I couldn’t let men just…ruin my life like that. I had full autonomy over my body, nobody could take that away from me. Not San. Not anyone else. I let out a quiet breath, trying to think of a way of saving myself, of charming San into letting me off. I would be betraying the other women here with me, but I had to try. And if I succeeded, perhaps I could help them too later on.
“You—you said I have a beautiful voice—” I wasn’t faking my stutter anymore, my thoughts were so jumbled together that I didn’t know what I wanted to say first, “I can sing for you, entertain your men for you. My body—my body is not worth more than my voice, I—I can make you richer with my talent, I—”
“Angel,” San cut me off, slightly coming closer, voice almost softening, “If I wanted to make you a famous singer, you wouldn’t be here right now. And your voice isn’t worth more than your body.”
I gulped, feeling dread settling in my stomach. This really was the worst that could have ever happened to me. I shook my head slowly, feeling the tears in my eyes, but I didn’t let them fall. I couldn’t humiliate myself even more, not in front of this monster. San seemed to have lost interest in me as he stood up straight, smoothing out his coat, looking down at me with an amused expression.
“Did you think I kidnapped you to make you a princess, Y/N? This is the real world, not some sort of fantasy land. We all have to make money in some way—”
“But you’re selling women, to make money.” My voice was harsh as I snapped, raising my head, finally looking at him. I knew my face was red from anger, my cheeks burning as I pushed myself up, standing tall, yet shorter than San, “You’re using humans to make money, to live a lavished life, while you make others miserable. While you steal our lives away, you get to live a free life—”
“Not everything is fair in life, angel.” San said with a nonchalant shrug, seemingly amused by my outburst, only fueling my anger.
“Something not being fair in life means getting fired from your job, it means losing a loved one, it means working-hard yet never quite achieving your dreams not—not getting kidnapped off the streets by someone who’s playing God!” I couldn’t help it as I screamed at him by the end of my sentence, breathing hard and wishing my glare could kill him. San didn’t seem so amused anymore, his eyes narrowing at me, “A lowlife like you shouldn’t even look in our direction, San."
San tsked, letting out a loud laugh, startling the other women as they watched me with fearful eyes, Eunchae shaking her head, begging me to stop with her eyes, “Is that how you see me? What you think of me? A lowlife?”
“Have you never been insulted by a woman before?” I raised my eyebrows mockingly, watching San stalk towards me slowly, “Did you think just because you view us as some objects we wouldn’t have a brain to think with and to feel with? Can you even sell me off if I will not behave like a doll?”
“Yes,” San nodded, chuckling, stopping right in front of me, eyes piercing mine, “I can still sell you, because there’s some men who love it when their objects have a big mouth and more than two thoughts in their skulls, makes it more exciting, you know? More satisfying to see them succumb to them. More enticing when they fight back, only to be disciplined in mere minutes—”
It took me a great deal of self-control to not step back as San invaded my personal space, stopping just inches away from me as his voice dropped to a low whisper, “It makes it so fucking hot when you finally get to fuck them dumb into the mattress, making them a mess of cries and pleas, asking you to stop but they are never in charge, even if you let them think so for a moment.”
My lips parted in shock and I couldn’t help but gasp at his vulgar words, taking a step back, but San reacted fast as his hand was in my hair, yanking my head back, making me yelp. I had no time to react as something sharp and cold was pressed against my neck, making me freeze as I was afraid to even breathe, “I know the type of woman you are, angel. You act fragile and sweet as long as things are going your way, but once you realize you’re at disadvantage your true self starts showing. You can’t manipulate me and you can’t make me feel bad for you, because I don’t give a shit about you, angel. All I see is a bunch of coins in return for you body when I look at you, and that’s all I need. What happens to you after you’re free from my hands, I don’t give two shits about. You can go jump off a cliff or you can live the miserable life you were going to live either way in that small, foul and good for nothing city, Y/N. I made it worse, perhaps, or I made it better. I’ll never find out.”
“You have no idea what life I was living,” I breathed out, voice shaky as the knife pressed against my Adam’s apple, “But I can promise you that I will ruin you.”
San’s gaze melted into mine, his face lowering, our noses almost touching. My heartbeat faltered for a second and I shrunk back a little bit, his dominating aura finally getting to me. I hated him, so much, and I hoped he could see it in my eyes, in my expression. He should just kill me right now, making his own life easier. I always kept my promises, and this was my promise to him. I would make sure he’d be ruined once I was sold off. Suddenly, San started laughing loudly and he pushed me away, making me fall into the iron bars as I was thrown off balance, making the others stare at the ground as his wild eyes looked around, challenging the other women to say anything. Nobody seemed to be able to do so and he left us alone, not even bothering to lock my cell door, showing just how much power he held over us. How little good my outburst did.
Our night was sleepless after my little fiasco and the other women were beyond frightened, whispering amongst each other, sometimes throwing glares my way. I couldn’t care less, I didn’t do anything wrong, I did no harm to them, I just ruined my chances of ever getting out of here unscratched. It was hilarious how my plan backfired on me, but it only showed how unlucky I have been lately. Nothing was going my way and nothing would ever go my way from now on. When the heavy door finally opened again, everyone knew it was the morning. Everyone knew we got to the mainland. Everyone knew our doom was closer than ever. It was Mingi again, with San walking after him. Mingi was holding a bunch of clothes, their color an ugly orange, and he opened all the cages, handing us the dresses as we stood ready. He was respectful enough to walk away once we had the dresses in our hands, knowing that we’d have to change now. San, just like last time, remained, watching us with a very pleased expression on his face.
“Well, ladies,” He said in a cheery voice, walking down between the cages, “We have finally arrived, I hope you enjoyed sailing with Ateez.”
I sneered at his words, but undressed myself, staring at the dress in my hands with disgust. It was heavy in my hands, and thick, the design tasteless the longer I looked at it. I couldn’t believe I was forced to dress into something so atrocious, but I just swallowed and pulled it on, instantly regretting it. It stuck to my skin and warmed me up, making my skin itchier. I haven’t washed up in days and it was only making me feel dirtier than I already was. San just smiled at me, not sincere nor happy, just mocking as his eyes ran over my body.
“What a fall from grace, angel, I suppose a dress like that wasn’t on your wish list, was it?” I scoffed and look at him as I have finished tying the front of the dress together.
“Orange is not my color, so thank you, for making me look uglier.” I bowed my head mockingly at him, his lean frame leaning against the doorway of the cage.
“I don’t mean to sadden you, but the men won’t be looking at your dress at all, angel, just at your pretty face.” Something wasn’t right about the dress though, it was sitting weirdly against my collarbones, I could feel it. I pulled on the sleeves of it, but it didn’t do much to fix the feeling, and San rolled his eyes before he walked up to me. I stepped back slightly, trying to maintain a normal distance between our bodies, but he just kept walking towards me until my back hit the wall, leaving no space for me to escape. My heart started thumping fast and I couldn’t help the sudden heat on my cheeks, so I just looked away, trying to conceal my face from him. He chuckled, but paid no mind as he raised his hand, about to touch the collar of my dress, right above my breast, but I slapped his hand away, whipping my head around to face him. San raised an eyebrow but tried to touch me again, and I just slapped his hand away again, but before I could lower my hand, he caught my wrist in his hand, holding me firmly.
“Don’t you think if I wanted to do anything to you I would’ve done it already?” He asked quietly, both eyebrows raised as he studied my face. I gulped but didn’t look away, just ripped my wrist out of his hand. He huffed and touched the collar of my dress again, not gentle at all, as he yanked on the fabric, making me gasp. Suddenly, a white collar, which I haven’t noticed was there before, came up from underneath my dress, going from my breasts up to my shoulders. I tensed when San’s finger lightly grazed against my skin, too close to my breast, but when I looked at him, he was already looking at me. I hissed and held his wrist the same way he held mine.
“You fixed the dress already,” I snapped, “No need to keep touching me.”
“I was just checking to make sure I did it right.” San answered smugly and I released his wrist, pushing him slightly back, hoping he’d get the message to disappear and leave me alone. He chuckled and batted his eye lashes at me mockingly before he turned around to walk away. I glared at the back of his head, wishing he would just disappear, never to be seen or heard of. I figured he wouldn’t be easy to take down in a fight due to his physique and sheer force he always seemed to use, but what if his attacker had the element of surprise? What if he didn’t see nor hear his attacker? What if he never even thought that person would attack him?
Without a second thought, my body flung into motion, acting on its own. I strained the chains of the handcuffs connected together and charged towards San as he was still close enough to attack from behind. I got on my tip toes and threw the chain around his neck, pulling it harshly towards me. The other girls exclaimed loudly as San gasped, his hands holding onto the chain barely, trying to pull it away from his throat, but I used all my force and power to choke him. Eunchae started crying loudly as San tried gasping for air, his body falling into mine almost as I applied even more force, panting as San was fighting back. My arms were straining and my wrists started aching from the handcuffs, but I didn’t stop pulling on the chain, determined to get the others and myself out of here before it was too late. But my initial thoughts about San turned out to be true, he was a lot stronger than he looked like, and with one harsh tug, I face planted into his wide and firm back, knowing that I messed up really bad now. The other girls suddenly went quiet and all was heard was San’s ragged breathing, his back moving up and down quickly. I shuddered and prepared myself for the repercussion of my actions, which came straight away. San turned around and his dark eyes fell on mine as he grabbed me by the hair harshly, a new glint in his eyes as he watched me enraged. My cuffed hands were behind his back now and I tried to break free, raise the chain over his head and push him away, but San didn’t allow me to do so. His flexed palm came flying towards my face and I tried to cover away, but to my surprise, he hit my Adam’s apple with such force that all air left my lungs instantly, making me fall forward, into him. Despite trying to breathe, my throat closed up and I could do nothing as I started choking in San’s arms, his hand still holding my hair harshly, looking down at me. As dark spots appeared in my vision I could swear San’s eyes softened just a bit, a sinister smirk appearing on his lips. And then everything went black.

After getting knocked unconscious I woke up to being carried by San, the hot sun beaming down on my face. I gasped as I looked around, noticing that we were off the ship, even far away from the shore. Eunchae seemed to be walked by Mingi meanwhile another woman by a man I didn’t know, leading the group. I wasn’t chained up anymore and as I looked around, assessing the situation, San gave me one warning glare and muttered that if I tried running away or creating a scene he’d slit my throat before I could scream. That scared me enough to behave as we were led towards a run-down looking house, somewhere in the town. San placed me down minutes ago and I was able to walk on my own, his firm grip around my forearm keeping me close to his body. I took in our surroundings, trying to find a way of escape once San wasn’t by my side anymore, but we were quickly shoved inside the house, walked to a backroom, loud manly voices coming through the only other door in the room. My heart was in my throat, and I found myself sweating profoundly as San finally released me, giving me a glance before he disappeared through the door. I tried to take a peak while the door was open, and my heart sank when I saw tons of men in the other room. Was this really how our life would be from now on? Sold again and again, corrupted and used? I bit my lower lip and looked around the room, trying to find an exit, but there were no windows and the only door leading outside was blocked by Mingi, who seemed very focused in guarding the door. His eyebrows were furrowed and he looked straight ahead, his hands clasped together in front of his body. He probably felt my gaze on him as he spared a glance my way, but when the other door opened, he quickly looked away. San stepped inside and dragged Hyolin away, slamming the door shut behind him. Eunchae started whimpering again as the other women gathered together, holding each other tightly. I found myself looking between the door and Mingi, begging with my eyes for him to let us go, but he wouldn’t look at me again. As Eunchae started crying, I found myself hugging her tightly, patting her head, telling her that everything would be alright. But nothing would be. She’ll be tainted, and I’ll be tainted too for life. I thought the Heavens wouldn’t do such thing to a human, but I realized my prayers were futile right now. No divine God would save me anymore. The door opened again and San took away another woman. Then another. And another. Two more went and when the door opened again, his eyes fell on Eunchae and I. I knew he’d come our way, so I pushed Eunchae behind myself and stood tall and fearless, staring him down. A smirk appeared on his lips as he stopped a few steps away from me, going to grab my cheek. I flinched and closed my eyes, but suddenly Eunchae’s wail snapped me back to reality, my eyes widening as San started pulling her after him.
“No—no—San—” But his glare instantly silenced me as he reached the door, eyes ablaze. Eunchae tried to wipe her tears away out of fear and tried to look somewhat composed, but one warning look from San made them fall again. I went to run up to them, but the other woman remaining in the room with me grabbed my wrist as San and Eunchae disappeared through the door, the young girl never to be seen again. My heart clenched and I wanted to cry out. I wanted to trash the room we were in. I wanted to rip the dress of myself and I wanted someone to punch me until my face was all bruised up, never to be called beautiful again. I hated everything about this. The tug on my wrist was harsh and I sniffed as I came face to face with the other woman, whose name was Dahyun.
“Pull it together,” She snapped, her own eyes teary, “You were the bravest out of all of us, if anyone can escape this, it’s you.”
I sniffed, a few tears falling from my eyes, “But he took Eunchae, I can’t run off like that—all of you will suffer, I can’t—”
“Stop thinking about us.” Dahyun’s voice raised but she glanced at Mingi and continued in a whisper, “We’re a lost cause, we don’t matter anymore. Save yourself while you can, Y/N, San seems to have taken a slight liking to you, use that to your advantage. You can charm anyone you want to.”
Her words gave me a little courage and I wiped my tears away, muttering a quiet ‘alright’ as the door opened and San looked inside. How did Eunchae get sold so fast? All of the other girls took around five to ten minutes, it’s been barely three. My heart clenched as I tried looking through the open door, the younger girl nowhere in sight. Dahyun seemed to have understood San as she sighed and released me, placing on a poker face as she walked towards him, brushing his hand off her forearm as she walked through the door by herself. San’s eyes met mine and his face was unreadable as he closed the door. I was next. I was the last one. After this, San would walk back to the pirate ship rich and I would walk away with a destroyed life. I had to stop this. I couldn’t just stand here and wait for my awful fate to happen.
“Do you enjoy this?” I found myself turning around, glaring at Mingi, “Watching women get sold off to some disgusting pigs?!”
Mingi didn’t react as he stared at the wall blankly, “Does it bring satisfaction to you seeing us in pain and despair? Are we really just some objects in your eyes?”
I was trying to make him feel any sort of emotion, but Mingi just sighed and slightly glanced at me.
“Please, I don’t deserve this—”
“I know, but it’s none of my business what happens here.” Mingi finally has had enough, his eyebrows furrowed as he looked at me with pity, “Everyone on the ship makes money in their own ways and I won’t sabotage San’s way of working.”
I gulped, trying to convince him somehow to let me go, “This is not about San, Mingi. This is about you. Your morals and what you believe in. Your dignity and respect for others—for women.”
“Shut up, please,” The tall man looked at me defeated, his hands clenched into fists, “once San decides to do something, nobody can stop him. If you think me stepping aside and letting you run away will help, will save you, trust me…it won’t. You could hide anywhere in the four seas and four kingdoms, and San would still find you. And once he does, he won’t be nice to you, he won’t try and sell you off again, Y/N. He’ll torture you until you’re barely breathing and then he’ll kill you in the slowest way possible, making you regret that you dared run away. He’s scarier than you think and he’s certainly more dangerous than you could ever imagine.”
I opened my mouth to say something, but the door opened behind me again. Mingi tensed and quickly averted his eyes back onto the wall, San raising an eyebrow at him as he walked up to me, grabbing my forearm and whirling me around. My jaw clenched and I looked to the side, ignoring San’s burning gaze on my face. I knew he wanted me to look at him, but I wouldn’t. I had enough of his disgusting face. Not wasting any more seconds, he started walking, dragging me after him as my legs refused to move on their own. I really didn’t want to go through the door and when San’s hand gripped the knob, I panicked.
“Please,” I gasped out, hands flying up and holding his cheeks, San’s eyes going wide, “Please, don’t do this to me. I can make you rich in other ways. I can—I can work for you for the rest of my life, please, don’t sell me off. I’ve—I’ve never been touched—by a man before—”
It felt humiliating admitting this to him, but this was my last chance, I had to do my best. San’s dark colored eyes stared deeply into mine, seemingly lost in them as I cupped his cheeks firmly, standing on my tip toes to try and make this more intimate. All I could do was whisper, too scared that my voice would shake if I spoke any louder, “I can sing, I have a beautiful voice. I’m sure you have connections, if you place me amongst wealthy people I can perform for them and all the money will go to you. All you have to do is give me pretty dresses and I’ll handle the rest myself, please, San.”
I really thought my words got through to him as he relaxed in my hold, one hand gently holding my hand against his cheek. He sucked in a deep breath and then his eyes hardened, making me shake my head in a plea. San slowly peeled my hands off his cheeks, tugging me closer as our noses were just inches away from each other.
“Behave.” Was all he said before the door was opened and I was walked outside, the breath knocked from my lungs as I took in the sight before me. At least fifteen men were in the room, sitting helter-skelter and watching me with curious eyes, which slowly turned lustful. I felt my body shake as San still held onto me harshly, making sure I wouldn’t run away. My legs felt numb, even if I tried to, I wouldn’t have been able to move. All of my nightmares sat right in front of me and I bit my lower as San cleared his throat.
“Im Y/N.” His voice held authority as he looked down on everyone, eyes slits, “Quite the beauty, as you can see. She’s a little bit temperamental, but she’s got a rather calm and sweet nature. And I can assure you her voice is just as beautiful as her face and body.”
My jaw clenched and I side glanced San, feeling his grip tighten around me in warning. Everyone was quiet as they watched me and when San nudged me, I understood. He wanted me to sing. But I didn’t want to sing. I felt like a bird held in a cage, only used when needed, never to be free again. Like an imprisoned nightingale. I gulped once and closed my eyes, sighing loudly. If he wanted me to sing, I would sing. The first few octaves were quiet and frail as my voice wavered, but I quickly corrected my pitch and started singing the song about a poor girl taken hostage in a fire exchange between bandits and the constables, only to die an unfortunate death when her kidnapper accidentally killed her after promising to release her once the constables stopped chasing them. The song was short and sad, it usually made people cry, even I felt like crying right now, understanding the poor girl from the song very well. Claps erupted throughout the room, but I didn’t open my eyes, I didn’t want to see who would be my buyer. San had to say nothing as the men started shouting ridiculous sums of money, each one of them trying to be the highest bidding. The room went silent when a deep voice shouted that they were offering five gold bars and a sack full of coins. I heard San gasping quietly beside me and my eyes flew open, falling on a man in his mid-thirties, a black mustache on his face. His eyes were kind and his face friendly as he smiled at me, dressed better than anyone else in the room. Why did he want me? To make me his own captive bird? Despite being the most well dressed in the room, and the kindest and purest looking, there was something in his eyes which sent chills down my body and I knew that my life wouldn’t be long next to that man.
“Sold to the man with the white hat!” San suddenly exclaimed, beaming at the man and bowing his head as he started dragging me back to the room I was held in until now. I looked at him confused, but when he opened the door, Mingi already had a white dress in his hands, waiting for me. San said nothing as he pushed me inside and then slammed the door shut behind me, leaving me with Mingi. My heart was beating like crazy when Mingi walked up to me, carefully extending his arms for me to take the dress, but my legs gave out and I fell forward. Mingi went stiff as I held onto him, suddenly crying into his chest, too short to reach any higher. It took him a few seconds before he reacted, but he started patting my back awkwardly, trying to calm me down. I was bawling by now and I realized how vulnerable Mingi was being right now, perhaps the Heaven’s offered me one last chance. A chance I instantly took. I gripped his arms firmly and kneeled him in the crotch abruptly, making him cry out. I pushed him away and raced towards the door, finding it unlocked. I flung it open and cried out in happiness, not looking back as I took off sprinting, trying to find the center of the town we were in, needing to find the constable this instant. My dress was too long and too thick, but I didn’t care as I raised them above my knees and ran around like a mad woman, getting strange looks from the people walking down the streets, my cheeks still wet from my tears. I was panting by the time I made it to the busier part of the town and I allowed myself to stop for a minute to try and catch my breath. People walked around, all busy with their own things, merchants shouting whatever they had to offer at their stalls. The sun beamed down on me and I couldn’t have felt even more blessed as I allowed myself to chuckle in pure happiness. I was free.
I looked around again, and to utmost luck, my eyes fell on a man wearing a uniform, signaling he was from the night watch. It didn’t matter what his function was as long as he was a figure of authority, someone whom I could ask for help from. The officer was looking around too, watching the people, and when his eyes stopped on me, he slightly smiled. My heart somersaulted and I took off towards him, mouth already forming to cry out for him to help me, when an all too familiar hand around my waist gripped me and turned me around. I bumped into the body, starting to struggle against him, when suddenly a sharp knife was pressed against my liver. It cut through the dress I was wearing and my breath stuttered as I looked up in San’s angry eyes. He found me. I wanted to scream. I wanted to rip myself away from him. I wanted to punch and kick him until he wasn’t breathing anymore.
“If you scream, angel, I swear on the Heavens I will kill you right here.” I whimpered when I felt the knife pressing against my skin harder, gripping San’s biceps as if that would’ve stopped him from doing anything to me. San’s eyes darted to the side and I followed his sight, a lump forming in my throat as the officer was walking towards us, eyebrows furrowed. San looked back down at me, eyebrows slightly furrowing before he leaned down and pressed his lips against mine. I started protesting, gripping his biceps even harder, hoping he’d release me from the pain, but he just pressed his lips harder against mine. I glanced at the officer with desperation written all over my face and San swiftly pulled back just enough to stare in my eyes threateningly, his lips touching mine as he hissed at me.
“If you don’t make it look like we’re a couple, I will torture you until you beg me to kill you.” I really, really wanted to cry, but as San’s lips pressed against mine again, I kissed him back. I made no effort to follow his lead or put any power in the kiss, just smacked my lips against his a few times, hoping it would be enough as I started feeling light headed from the heath and the terror San put me through. His lips were finally away from mine.
“You shouldn’t run away every time we have an argument, angel.” San spoke loudly enough for the officer to hear us as he was close enough, the knife from San’s hand magically having disappeared, “I’m always worried sick about you.”
I just stared into San’s eyes blankly, seeing the officer from the corner of my eyes walk off with a smile, shaking his head. No. I was back in the arms of my kidnapper. Why did I try so hard if it was in vain in the end? San let out a long breath, his forehead wrinkling as he scrunched up his nose, sweat glistening on his temples. He hung his head low, sucking his cheeks in as he held onto my waist with his other hand too, flushing me against his body.
“If I wouldn’t have sold you off already, I would really kill you right now, Y/N.” My jaw clenched at his words and I slightly pushed his biceps, making him look at me.
“I told you I could get you more money if you just allowed me to sing to the wealthy, San.” I tried to coerce him into finally giving in to me, “You get this large sum just once, it will go away eventually. But if you keep me around—if you let me sing—I can bring you weekly the same amount.” I was reaching, but it was worth the try. San didn’t seem to believe me either, and I could feel the resilience radiating off him, so I tried my last method. The method I hated the most, but if it would soften him enough to give in, I had to do it. I cupped his cheeks again and watched his eyes slightly widen as I closed mine, pressing my lips against his. San went stiff as our warm lips molded together, and despite me trying to move mine, his didn’t move. He wasn’t reciprocating it. He refused to fall for my last trick. And it truly was my last trick as I started pulling back defeated, eyes filling with tears, when San cupped my cheeks harshly and crashed his lips against mine. He wasn’t gentle at all, not that I expected him to be, as his lips moved hungrily against mine, devouring me. It was hard to keep up with him as I have never kissed anyone before, but I found my heart thumping loudly in my eardrums as our teeth clashed together, San dominating the kiss. His grip was crushing my cheeks and my lungs were screaming for air as my hands had fallen to his hips, gripping him, reminding myself that I couldn’t fall for his trick. My body was reacting weirdly to his actions, yearning for his lips as he pulled back, taking my lower lip in between his teeth, sucking on it. I felt my cheeks heat up at the action and I was embarrassed, slightly disgusted for making out with him, but fired up. San panted against my lips and he chuckled smugly as I refused to open my eyes, ashamed.
“This took an interesting turn of events, angel, don’t you think?” I didn’t answer him, afraid of what my voice would sound like, but when he nudged my nose with his, I wordlessly nodded, “What did you say? That you can bring me more money weekly than what that crazy rich man just offered me?”
My eyes flew open and the glint of mischief in San’s eyes brought a sense of hope into my system, truly so emotionally tired, that I believed he was genuine this time, “Yes, I can.”
San’s chuckle was high pitched and a crazy look appeared on his face as he bumped his nose against mine again, pushing my head back as he released my cheeks, “Very well, angel, very well.”
I didn’t fully understand what was happening, but I released his hips too as San’s arm went around my shoulders, pulling me into his side as he started walking, “Don’t think you’ll ever be free again, Y/N, because from today on…you’re mine.”
From getting sold off to getting owned by a pirate, neither sounded good nor like a pleasant life. I really didn’t want to cry anymore, but I still wasn’t free. No, I was just owned for life by a deranged and dangerous pirate, who would find me no matter where I went.
I was afraid not even my fantasy worlds were able to save me from the nightmare I found myself tangled up in.
