Random HC:

The first years (+Ortho) playing DnD in Ramshackle Dorm

Yuu/MC is DMing of course

Player characters (I won't go too deep into their character details tho)

I feel like Ace'd be a Human Rogue, it kinda fits his personality imo. I personally don't see him as someone who uses brute force or blast magic, so Rogue it is. Specifically, I feel like he'd be an arcane trickster.

Deuce's character would be a Monk 100%. As for the race I can sorta see him being a Tiefling. Now you might be asking, "why a Monk and not a Barbarian?", While I do acknowledge his tendency to go apeshit at times, he actively tries to grow and change from his past habits. Perhaps his character could be an ex-barbarian who is training hard to be a Monk (multiclass)?

Jack's character'd be a Goliath Fighter, the only justification I have for this is that I feel like the competitive nature of a Goliath and their desire to push beyond new limits fits him like a glove, also the fighter class suits him just fine imo.

Given his background, I feel like Epel would be a Druid (they're basically magic farmers/gardeners). However, he'd give his character cantrips like Poison Spray, various spells but no healing spells (yea this party is pretty much fucked). You can fight me on this but post-character arc Epel would be a Halfling, he'd use his size as an advantage in combat.

As for Sebek, I can't see him being anything other than a Paladin. He'd most likely be an Aasimar... or maybe a half-elf? No? Too on the nose? Anyways, he'd give his character enchantment spells, and maybe some healing spells like Cure Wounds.

Ortho is the party's main support, with him being a tiny fairy bard (now you see why I had to bring Ortho in this otherwise the party won't even survive the winter). He's just a little lad who loves berries and cream :). He also provides bgm and sfx for the campaign.

I'm sorry but I have very little to no faith for this party. But I'm sure they'll somehow survive.

Together, the fate of the world somehow lies in the hands of these murder hobos.

Random shenanigans

Ace attempting to steal a treasure/sacred item from a monster's lair, only to miserably fail a stealth roll. Everyone had to haul ass out of there.

Deuce getting emotionally attached to an Npc with tragic backstories and/or noble goal, and then stubbornly tried to save that npc and getting upset at the DM for killing them.

something tragic happens and someone just says "this is so sad, Ortho play the acoustic rendition of Piece of My World"

Ace, to every barmaid bc he's broke: "hey (with rizz)" *rolls a Nat 1 Charisma*

With how hotheaded the NRC kids are it's only a matter of time until an npc taunted or look at them the wrong way and they'd be like "oh that's it, now you're gonna get it! I ROLL FOR INITIATIVE!" completely unprompted (like in the second half of the Halloween event bc I still find it insane how everyone immediately resorts to violence, even some of the more levelheaded students).

The one time Ortho and/or Sebek can't make it to a session, Jack gets knocked out by an enemy and the gang tried to heal him. Ace: "ok but can we try slapping him awake?" Deuce:"oh that's a good idea! Can we, Yuu/MC?" Yuu/MC:"...roll me a strength check" (they forgot that they have a healing potion)

The DM sitting there horrified while watching the party using the "power of friendship" on an NPC

I feel like half of them would brute force puzzles in a dungeon and it works like one out of three times or something.

"why do I hear boss music?"

Yuu, the DM, puts their hands together in front of them, a strange smile plastered on their face as they calmly said; "everyone, I want you to roll for initiative 🙂"

No worries!! I can give you a quick overview of what happened (to the best of my knowledge) and places you can look for remnants of the Tall Varian anon.

The Tall Varian anon started posting under NSFW fics on ao3 that featured bottom Varian. (It's important to note that the Tall Varian anon and the Top Varian anon are the same person btw!)

They hit up a few top Varian fics, praising them for having that and begging for more material. These are mostly under "Anon Guest" users, but I think DAVIDOFF and Sararar were the pseudonyms they transitioned into using.

I'm pretty sure if you search Varigo on ao3 and filter it out to Explicit fics, you'll find a comment under one of those two names about it, so I would start there. It's mostly smaller comments like "this is actually good" or "why won't people write Top Varian?" until beloved fandom author PornOnTheCob declared open season on them in their comment section on I THINK their valentine's day fic in 2022 (?). After that it migrated to Tumblr and became way more hostile.

There was an incident where they posted under EVERY SINGLE Varigo authors' works (including non tts/vat7k fics) about how Varigo was a cult (these might be deleted, but I still have screenshots somewhere).

It's harder to search on Tumblr bc the search system is stupid and broken, but there were a million incidents on my main (@whothefuckisknives), and I'm pretty sure other blogs got hit up too (I wouldn't know tho bc I only knew a couple of ppl in the fandom at the time and we were in a Discord groupchat, not really on Tumblr).

Currently, they do have a Tumblr blog, but they have most ppl in the fandom blocked which is awesome for us tbh. I think they interact with 3 ppl tops.

One note to add, you'll probably find a lot of Tall Varian/Top Varian comments under Cheerio, HOWEVER you'll also find nice comments too. That's bc Cheerio was actually someone else, but Tall Varian anon started impersonating them to cause drama (I know this btw bc I knew who the original Cheerio was and they ended up making an AO3 account). So if you see Cheerio in the comment section during the Porn0nTheCob fights, that's not Tall Varian anon.

There's a bunch of other pseudonymous they used too, like Anali, Dan, Duchess de L'ciel, Rioteer, gds, and Lady [something?? i don't remember it but I think it began with an "A"]. They've gone through a couple of Tumblr blogs too that got deleted or banned too. The only one's I can remember is @imapervertedtangledfan (deleted, but you might be able to find it via archieve/waybackmachine fuckery), @/aliciasinferno (this one is still a little bit active).

Actually here's a really funny call out post that THEY POSTED ABOUT THEMSELVES to try and throw ppl off their trail (didn't work):

It has the names of all the blogs and some of the AO3 names they've used which is. Really really funny.

Anyway, those are some places where you can start looking! Its a really weird deep dive fr one you get into it. They're also still active on their current Tumblr, but I'm not comfortable with naming them outside of DMS bc I don't want them up my ass again.

i wanna try to get into enstars bc i like pjsk (even tho i am so bad at it) and also am gay but i find it overwhelming and confusing can u give me some tips or something

Absolutely, I will do my best to help! It's very, very overwhelming and a lot so I don't blame you at all! I'll put everything under a cut because I'm autistic and very excited and have a Lot of links and things!

First, absolutely watch the Enstars anime. This will go over the main points / ideas of the Main Story of the first game (aka ! era). Strongly recommend watching in sub because the dub isn't very good.

Then, watch Element. This goes over the Element Arc of ! Era Main Story. They cover this in the main anime but not as good.

There's also a movie, which I have but I don't have a link for it. If you'd like the download + subtitle file for it, just shoot me an ask or dm me at @shinobukawajiri and I can help out! But it's not super lore important or anything so don't worry.

Alright! So you've seen the anime! Now you can get into the music. You could also listen to songs before the anime, really whatever you want! For this, I'd suggest going to the wiki and picking a Unit! Check out their discography, which you can view from their wiki page and give the songs a listen. You can find all of them on YT! I'd definitely listen to a couple songs from all units to get a feel because they all have very different sounds! If there's a music genre you like let me know, and I can recommend some songs / units! There's also some Temporary Units + Shuffle Units, which have music as well that you can listen to! If you'd like some recommendations, lmk!

Now, after viewing the anime, and listening to songs, pick a Unit or some characters you like and focus on stories for them! Since there's a lot of stories it's better to just pick some favorites and go from there. Crazy:B and Alkaloid were introduced in !! era / the second game, so you won't see them in the anime, if they're of interest to you. Here is a guide for important stories from the first game for the characters in that.

To access stories for the first game / ! Era, you'll have to use the wayback machine, or you can just look up (story name) tl / translation on Google, and you should usually be able to find what you need, since they were forced to take down any tls on the wiki.

Now, there's two games as I've established. The first game is completely in Japanese, and I'd rely on Story translations from the wayback machine wiki. As for the new game, you can play in English! It's accessible from the appstore, but remember, this takes place AFTER the other game! You absolutely do not have to know all the lore / read all the stories or anything to play! I'm just mega autistic so lmao. But the English version of Enstars Music doesn't have the best translations, but it is more accessible. Though, if you become super invested like me and my partner, you can absolutely download the Japanese version of the game!

There's lots of people on Twitter who translate and things for the stories + general game things and id be happy to direct to them if you find yourself super enjoying the Series!

Basically it is VERY difficult bc there's also drama cds, stageplays, manga, but finding things translated or just finding them can take work but ofc all that isn't required. In general just have fun!!! Don't be deterred and like I said I'm more than happy to help find things or whatever anyone needs! Since my partner has been more invested for longer than me, we both can do our best to help!!

I FORGOT FALLOUT EXISTS HELP okay i’m like. really There in fallout shelter but i don’t play anymore </3 fallout 4 and las vegas we have!! i’m scared to play 4!! but yes!! i also feel terrible for forgetting skyrim holy shit i mostly just watched my dad/sis play until i actually started playing myself. i’m a coward and i admit that but that game is my CHILDHOOD... cuphead is also rlly cool i have just played REALLY little myself but <33 animal crossing is rlly cute!! i love new horizons!! also assassins creed!! we have odyssey which i played a bit but it makes me scared to play too ngl!! devil may cry and metal gear rlly interest me but no games or experience playing :(( love the music and memes tho <3

LEGO GAMES WERE MY CHILDHOOD TOO... my only 100%. man. i fought so much w my twin over those games it’s absolutely hilarious. dragon age is cool i love inquisition soundtrack but i played a bit of origins and then stopped bcs i got stuck and it’s so ANNOYING... red dead redemption 2 i havent played but <333 resident evil is cool but horror. goodbye. GSHGBFBSD AND OH GOD I FORGOT I ONCE PLAYED A BIT OF GTA5. i stopped bcs it rlly was too much even for me who doesn’t mind swearing. i stole cars and did a bit of story and thn stopped i will never forget the man who opened my car door in the road and i drove off HABJGH ... i forgot what other games i’ve played or have or am interested in this is so much oh god . OH GOD WAIT I FORGOT KINGDOM HEARTS EXISTED HELP that series is so weird but means so much to me weirdly. i rmbr so clearly playing literally the first bit of the game. by first bit i mean literally probably just the first hour or less. and i never got past that bcs i never got to a save but then had to stop playing over and over again but wld always go back and play it AAA kh1!!! and thn kh3 i borrowed and man... <3 i love that game and somehow understood and enjoyed even if it’s literally the ending of a saga i think and i never played the rest HELP

BUT UHM YES if you do ever someday properly play ff and fe i’d be really happy but pls /nf !!! and i hope you do enjoy if ever!! <3 tbh i’m a bit >:( when it comes to some stuff abt specifically uhh 7 13 15 and 3h but generally i still love them lots <3 personally i’d def rec xiv even if you aren’t a fan of mmorpgs bcs it’s def an rpg first >< also imo the best final fantasy overall!! even best mmo and def one of the best stories i’ve ever seen ,, BJSDHBG but from the single players, it’s a bit depending on your taste but safe best for sure is 9! overall i’d say the best, from what i’ve heard :O below 7 is not 3d yet but i’m biased to 3 bcs of 14, for reasons, and 4 is <3! and 6 def has prolly the best story from what i’ve heard if not for 14!! 8 is heavily romance based ?? but i personally love the themes sm >< 7 is rlly famous and probably the biggest franchise in the ff franchise :O if you ignore ffxiv HJBHDG! i’d def rec it too <3 10 is my first and rlly special to me and i’d def rec it too for sure!! 12 is more political but personally i love it. havent playe dbut uhm yes. tactics i’ve heard is incredibly good ^^ i barely know it. barely being a bit of an understatement uhhh ik some of the story!! yes!! okay squints that’s all i can talk abt rn help it just turned 5 JBGDHJGB ALSO I’M INTERESTED IN OMORI I ALMOST FORGOT!! horror scares me but ik omori is rlly good <3 i’m just watching bcs i might waste money on not playing if i buy it myself <//3 ^^

I definitely agree that since reaching allport there’s definitely been a change in the sense of scope with riptide. and in some ways it makes sense! allport is the center of the world that opens them up to all the other oceans, while story wise it’s been expanding to follow more different plots at the same time.

I think another part is that it’s been focusing more on working in the character backstories, while early jrwi was much more focused on the location arc— so they need to work in things with the undersea and navy conflict, and Chip’s past, and Ava’s death, and so on.

For me, the feywild and space thing feels more… like a tidbit thrown in for fun, not something to be pursued? Like if anything they feel like foreshadowing of a future mini arc than a whole storyline of their own. Possible I’m wrong, but it’s more a frosting scenario in my mind than the actual core of the cake.

But, going back, yeah I’ve felt that same change in narrative weight and scope, but I trust them all (esp Grizzly as DM) to make it all work in the end tho! Im just kicking back and seeing how it goes, trying to get a bit better view of the Whole Picture before drawing any conclusions, yknow? :]

The thing about how the shift has been since allport really makes sense, especially thematically. I didn't think of it and I love it!

I disagree that the space arc is just icing on the cake though because in a just rolled Grizzly said he's been "planning this for months". Maybe the riptide pirates don't actually go to space themselves, but there's definitely a whole arc that he's been planning.

The feywild does seem like icing tho bc it was originally opened up as a way to find someone powerful enough to heal Chip's curse... and that's dealt with. They have no external reason to go there besides it just sounding cool. And it would make more sense to use their time to follow the map on Drey's back or one of the other more pressing quests. Space is also a less pressing quest as well, so it probably won't be pursued for months and months. But I still think it will be a big deal, just not a big deal for a lonnnnnng while

let me give yall a bit of a life update since i feel like i haven't been on here all that much.

(omg this is so long, there's a tldr at the bottom if you feel like just reading that instead of all of this lol)

so first off, sorry i haven't been responding that often to yall on here. here's why:

the store i work at is expanding and i went from working 2/3 days a week (i'm part time and only do freight) to 4 days a week. i had to negotiate with my manager bc she wanted me to start working full time suddenly but only for the length of the expansion. and i literally had to tell her no bc you're not about to do that to me with no notice and one top of that, yall don't pay me enough. pay me more and i'll gladly stay longer.

so we settled on four days a week lol bc god forbid our store hits our 5 mil sales goal, apparently none of us can get a raise…

my body is in so much pain from working longer and more often. i'm literally moving shelving units and climbing latters and just overall doing so much physical labor. i'm eating advils like they're tic-tacs lol

and then on top of all of this, my sleep schedule is atrocious. basically i stay up from midnight all the way my work hours, then i come home, maybe stay up for two hours after that, and then pass out until midnight all over again. it's the absolute worst for so many reasons, mostly bc i'm tired and want to sleep more but my body just… won't. i'm like a partial insomniac.

and then with work, we have more ppl coming in to help us build the store, and while they are good at their job… they're annoying. so the one girl that's been working with us is from another store and idk if she's a manager there or is planning to be one soon bc she kinda gives off the energy of someone that acts like they know everything but truly doesn't. like, i've been at my store for three years, i know everything. you, however, do not. so she was helping me in my section for the past couple days and it was fine to some extent, but i will say the one thing that she does is literally make things more complicated than it needs to be and it is frustrating beyond belief.

like the other days, the dm that's been in our store helping told her to take the two sections from around the corner and just move them over into this four part section. the other two empty sections were then gonna be filled by stuff i needed. okay? you get that? bc somehow… she didn't. or wanted to do her own thing or IDK BUT IT WAS DUMB. bc what ended up happening is instead of just copying what the two sections looked like and just replicating it onto this longer section, she decided to add new things in from this big gondala that we have full of beauty products (i work in beauty in case i never said that). and while she made it look nice, i just don't get it. bc what she was trying to do what copy how her store looked, so she was saying "oh this has to be hung up and this doesn't" and i'm like………. why are you making this more difficult than it needs to be???

she also had the planagram on her phone, basically what the layout of the store will look like when everything is done. i needed to see it so i could learn what was on my two sections next to her. i knew the one was kid's makeup, but i wanted to be sure that the next section was makeup containers, bc i thought that's what the dm said but i wasn't sure. she showed the planagram to me once but extremely briefly. then when i asked her again when i was about to do the section, bc she had only showed it to me so quickly that i forgot, she started acting as if she didn't know or that i should go ask the dm. and i'm just like…. show me your phone. you have the layout on there, let me see it. so she did, and i was like, oh okay it is makeup containers and she literally said "is it tho?" ?????????????? what the fuck do you mean is it tho???? like, can you not read?

(also i just remembered this while reading this back, we had to go to the back of the store where all of our products are bc the dm wanted us to pull stuff from back there too. went back there, all we have currently is shirts and socks, but we had one thing of makeup containers and i went to grab it and she LITERALLY TOLD ME NOT TO. even tho the dm had told her what goes in each section not even a minute prior. AND SHE HAD IT ON HER PHONE. so when i ended up doing the makeup containers i had to go to the back and get them even tho i have been back there already)

it's just… everything with her was like walking thru mud. everything was just so slow but for no reason. you wanna drag your feet at work, i don't care about that. but why are you making it more difficult for me than it has to be???? it was like she was a terrible communicator.

speaking of, the dm is exactly that. that man literally won't talk to me. even tho the beauty (and also clothing) section is mine, he was telling her all the info on what to do. and ONLY to her. i need to make it apparent that he would be talking to her on what to do next but only saying it loud enough for her to hear even tho i was right next to him. he would literally turn his back to me and talk to her. and then when she would try to relay the info back to me, it was like talking to a wall.

on top of that, he got on my last nerve the other week bc he wanted me to help out in another section, which i was fine with. but the manager that was supposed to be with me (aka the one that knew what the fuck to do in that section) was helping the dude delivering the palettes come in so i was just stuck walking around until he was done. eventually my general manager was just like "go put out this rack of stuff wherever you can". cool. i go to grab it, start walking out on the floor, and by this point the manager i need for the other section is done. i didn't know that tho. so all of the sudden the dm comes up to me and says "no, you're not doing that. i told you to help out this manager with that section" in a super disrespectful tone. and it took everything in me to not be a bitch to him.

first off, you ain't even my dm, so fuck off with that attitude. secondly, don't talk to me that way. you barely talk to me at all so like…. maybe consider picking a better tone next time. and thirdly, i was following MY general manager's direction. get mad at her, not me asshole.

i think my main issue with him is that everyone in our store likes him. they think this man is the fucking bees knees. and the only reason they think that is bc they're all managers and bc he was in earlier a month ago shoving shit out that we had in the back when the construction was about to start. all of my managers were like "oh he's amazing bc look at all the stuff he got out that we didn't think we had room to put out" and i'm just like…. i have to redo my whole section bc he made it look like shit bc he thinks he's good at what he does when in reality all he can do is shove product out that no one ends up buying bc it looks like ass.

and don't even get me started on the customers. actually, they haven't been too bad, just an usual amount of annoying lol

i think that's everything. sorry this was super long and not really necessary for you guys to read. i just wanted to vent bc i literally don't have friends besides my mom but she hears me everyday when i get home from work anyway. hopefully the expansion is done soon so i can get some rest before the holidays start up and i start doing overnights.

TLDR: i'm working a lot more at my store bc of an expansion and sleeping basically anytime i have off so that's why i'm not on here as often. also my dm and new coworker (for the time being bc they're not actually a part of my store) are fucking annoying and terrible communicators.

I don't know Leah but fully agree with your bestie!!! You should listen to her!!! From what you told me he seems interested too, so asking him out seems reasonable! I understand not wanting to mix the anxiety of asking someone out with the exam's anxiety (I used to have the worst fights with my ex just before exams and that was the worst, like things worked out in the end anyways but it would've been better if I wasn't that stressed lol) so it is understandable to not want to mix it! But if you do it will work out the same, you will get a good grade despite being anxious bc you've got this in you!

I also believe that what is yours will come back to you (I have a friend that just started dating a boy she met like 15 years ago, they meet again after so long and she is so happy- not saying it will take you 15 years tho lol, just take your time if you don't feel like if rn, if it is supposed to be it will work out at some point, don't put too much pressure on it), maybe you guys will see eachother after the exam, and you can ask him, maybe you will see him somewhere else, or when you get back from that semester abroad, but it think that if you feel like it, you shouldn't waste the opportunity to ask him out, life is too short for us to not do the things we want to, you can text him inviting him for a cup of coffee, like not a date date, and just hang out, depending on how that goes then actually ask him out

Also that trip thing!!!! I hope it works out, it seems like a great opportunity to get to know him better, it almost feels like you are telling me the plot of a movie!!! I will be here waiting to read all about it!

But now I'm 99.99% sure that he did go to Amsterdam so if my stupid self would've just asked him beforehand if he was gonna go to Amsterdam, I could've spent a day with him in Amsterdam, I've rarely ever had such big fomo 🥲
