Skye and Tumult from my JP/W raptor AU are all grown up now, and have chicks of their own, which naturally means an update to their toy figures on my shelf! Each figure is made a little differently, but they're a family, so here they are all together.
You can find WIP photos and posts about making the figures in this tag at my other blog. More information and photos about the finished figures below.

“Black people are reclaiming the outdoors!”
Black ancestors like Matt Reeves, black farmers, and southerners: Did you guys banned our people from the forest?
Confederates and white southerners: No, did we?
Seriously a running gag in the south that many of our elders grew up near forests and was told to go there for a few hours as kids but not too far for obvious racial reasons.
But what with this idea black people are reclaiming the outdoor
😳
Californian and northern urbanites….know that after the civil war and abolition of slavery…most free blacks stayed in the country and created communities there….and our urbanization is a very decent thing….
THERE A REASON WHY OUTKAST USED COUNTRY MUSIC AND WHY ANDRE 3000 WORE A CONFEDERATE BELT IN ONE MUSIC VIDEO!
Also the Louisiana Bayou? You know the outdoor area that is heavily associated with Louisiana black culture and Disney is changing splash mountain based off that?
Also outdoor activity like hiking been called “White people shit” by black people for decades
🙄
No acknowledgment on that activists?
Also yeah it me zoomer Huey….also queers are changing the camping scenes?
Oh yes because no one connected the dots that plenty of lgbt confessed their love or did you know what in the outdoors away from society
It not like Gay p/rn usually have a subset of “outdoors” videos
Oh…the Boy Scouts sex abuse scandals…and the jokes about experimenting at summer camp….
Just saying when the hell didn’t non whites or LBGT people weren’t allowed camping or be able to do outdoors activities? You guys were usually there but you guys made the urban life your definitive style to the masses
I'm on a dinosaur computer that I can type on faster than the letters show up so this is gonna be short because it's making me bonkers.
If you haven't seen this before it feels like it isn't too far off of the mark to me for most any place that will write a headline about how a transgender, black, pansexual, with autism is reclaiming the outdoors by queering it up.
youtube
Because honestly nobody is stopping anyone from enjoying the great outdoors except for maybe the government when it closes the campgrounds for some reason or another.
I think they write those for filler, concept is beyond idiotic
being a biracial bisexual will not stop you from riding a bicycle on mountain paths, nobody that matters cares go camping please.

@the-blue-fairie @princesssarisa @themousefromfantasyland @professorlehnsherr-almashy
So, I would like to share a little about my background as a fan of fantastic fiction trying to reconcile escapism with socio-political analysis:
I grew up with TV, and what I watched was generally a mix of telenovelas and animated movies from Disney and Pixar VHS, and DVDs from Dreamworks, comedy cartoons and live action TV Shows like Spongebob Squarepants, El Chavo del Ocho, The Simpsons and Dinosaurs, educational cartoons such as The Triplets, Madeline and Seven Little Monsters.
Tumblr media
My closest family, especially my mother, grandmother and uncle, were readers, and they tried to encourage me to read books, and also to think more deeply about what I watched, beyond simple entertainment.
This was influenced by the fact that they studied at a public university and were involved in discussions of social issues such as quotas and student movements.
Tumblr media
When I was growing up, learning to use the internet, I discovered pages and videos of people who delved into this intersection of pop culture and political and social issues, absorbing a lot of things they said, to the point that even my family said: "Take it easy, sometimes it's good to take a break and just enjoy."
Tumblr media
After a while, especially in college, I started to filter out what was a comment just to cause controversy, a repetitive joke and what was really an analysis made in good faith, and thus form my own opinions. I used to identify as a centrist and vote white until 2016, when the coup against Dilma and Trump's election took place.
Tumblr media
These were the situations in which I realized that being politically neutral was just acting cynical and apathetic while fascism resurfaced. And being a target as a woman, from the Northeast, from a black, poor family and a student at a public school and university, I could no longer afford to press the white button.
"Whoever stays too up the wall falls to the right" as once said the brazilian actor and director Antônio Abujamra.
Tumblr media
So I started to identify myself as someone on the left I know that there are problems such as antisemitism and lgtphobia internalized by parts of the left (the brazilian party PCO for example is a joke).
But I live in a different reality than other countries: In Brazil, simply wanting Agrarian Reform and teaching about LGBTs and other religions besides Christianity is considered "Extremist" by the Right.
Tumblr media
I can't live in Brazil, which suffered under Bolsonaro, and not be left-wing.

Also if it’s no trouble could if it alright with you spread the word about this show to others you know like either online or irl
Tumblr media
Hi! No problem!
I've only seen the first 3 episodes, I hadn't had the chance to watch the rest yet, I've seen clips on yt. But I LOVE the representation on Judaism, LGBT, Hispanic culture, and black people . I just adore the hair episode!!!
The animation is one of the best 2d animations I've ever seen
And I did watch it on Disney with cable but because of time zones I unfortunately cant really watch the rest when it airs, I'll try to catch the re runs though.
I will tell my friends irl, I have told some of them and one of them watched it, so I will tell the rest.
Thank you of the ask! I'll try to help however I can. Also Disney sucks fr.

New Rule: Along for the Pride | Real Time with Bill Maher
“Yes, part of the rise in LGBT numbers is from people feeling free enough to tell it to a pollster, and that's all to the good but some of it is it's trendy.
Penis equals man? Okay boomer.
Remember the prime directive of every teen is anything to shock and challenge the squares who brought you up. It's why nobody gets a nose ring at 56.
And if you haven't noticed that with kids, doing something for the likes is more important than their own genitals, you haven't been paying attention.
Dr. Erica Anderson is a prominent 71 year old clinical psychologist who is herself transgender, and who now says “I think it's gone too far.” The LA Times summarizes she's “come to believe that some children identifying as trans are falling under the influence of their peers and social media.”
Tumblr media
If you attend a small dinner party of typically very liberal upper income Angelinos, it is not uncommon to hear parents who each have a trans kid having a conversation about that. What are the odds of that happening in Youngstown, Ohio?
If this spike in trans children is all natural, why is it regional? Either Ohio is shaming them or California is creating them.
It's like that day we suddenly all needed bottled water all the time.
If we can't admit that in certain enclaves there is some level of trendiness to the idea of being anything other than straight, then this is not a serious science-based discussion. It's a blow being struck in the culture wars, using children as cannon fodder.
I don't understand parents who won't let their nine-year-old walk to the corner without a helmet, an epipen and a GPS tracker, and god forbid their lips touch dairy. But hormone blockers and genital surgery? Fine. Talk about a nut allergy.
I guess penises are gross now, but one might come in handy later on. And if you're a man who wants to experience life without a pair of balls you do not have to get surgery, you can get married.
And never forget, children are impressionable and very, very stupid. Kids don't know why mom drinks every day, or why dad has two cell phones.
Maybe the boy who thinks he's a girl is just gay, or whatever Frasier was.
Maybe the girl who hates girly stuff just needs to learn that being female doesn't mean you have to act like a Kardashian.
Tumblr media
Maybe childhood makes you sad sometimes and there are other solutions besides hand me the dick saw.
And look, i'm sure the vast majority of parents do not take this lightly. And that it is very hard to know when something is real or just a phase. And I understand being trans is different, it's innate.
But kids do also have phases. They're kids. It's all phases. The dinosaur phase, the Hello Kitty phase. One day they want to be an astronaut, the next day you can't get them to leave their room.
Gender fluid? Kids are fluid about everything. If kids knew what they wanted to be at age eight, the world would be filled with cowboys and princesses.
I wanted to be a pirate. Thank god nobody took me seriously and scheduled me for eye removal and peg leg surgery.”

Welp. (Now would be a good time to remind y’all that if you want to read well-written wizard fiction by an actual progressive, Diane Duane’s Young Wizards continues to be right here. J.K. Rowling waited until after her series was concluded to suggest her mentor character gay after her series concluded in 2007. Diane Duane had as wizard-mentors a loving gay couple in NINETEEN FUCKING EIGHTY TWO because she’s not a piece-of -shit radfem-supporting coward. Anyways, why read Harry Potter where you could read a series with gay wizards, POC wizards, neuroatypical wizards, headlining female wizards, trans wizards, ace wizards, cat wizards, dinosaur wizards, and the world’s best dog? READ ‘EM THEY’RE ON SPECIAL AGAIN)

Hello! I found your blog via you amazingly summarizing all that's going on with the spn drama. Due to my schedules, rl stuff, some of the arcs that didn't vibe with me, my availability to find a place to watch...the rollercoaster I was used to with this fandom was more me binging it in a weekend to going months to over a year without watching it. I still haven't watched the last season(but with a fandom this big it's pretty impossible not be spoiled so I more or less know what happened) BUT oh great one I ask of thee for more information if you have it...other than being busy and whatnot, I'm not really one to keep up with the actors as well. So could you also maybe do a summary of all the stans? I'im seeing terms I haven't seen before. Who is Kelios(sp?)? Hellions?? probably messed it up but like...I guess what are the name of each legion? Who do they have alliance towards? What was their desires? Que paso?!?!?!?
Hi there! 'Some of the arcs that didn't vibe with me' me emotionally quitting Supernatural in Season 7 after they killed Castiel 😂 Anyway I totally get it, I went through the same culture shock mid-last year when I got back into SPN and tried to find where fandom was at! There's really a LOT of lore and content after 15 years though so I'll just do the broad brushstrokes based on my impressions and personal stereotypes PLEASE remember this is oversimplifying groups and individuals to tendencies and I'm very biased! Also important that there are sub-factions within sub-factions - again, I'm simplifying here!
I've also linked to the 'Super-wiki' in terms of some definitions because the Super-wiki has pages for them where the Fandom-wiki does not. Great introduction actually - only in the Supernatural fandom. There are two Supernatural wikis. One, through curation and twitter activity, supports BiBro/Wincest factions and does not support Destiel users. One is more neutral or Destiel-friendly (I don't know that the Fandom wiki has a personality/social media presence per se). You cannot make this up. There is a factional war... within use of fandom wikis.
Destiel faction
People who primarily ship Dean/Cas, love Castiel and (often, although not always) Jack, and the 'found family' of Supernatural as well as the brothers, and like the post s3 seasons too. Hated 15.19 and 15.20 for killing Dean and ignoring the other characters/narrative arc of the show. Nicknamed 'Destihellers' by the Wincest faction as a derogatory term, 'reclaimed' and shortened as 'Hellers', a nickname they use affectionately to describe each other. See more info on nicknames here.
Sometimes also ship ‘Cockles’ (the ship between Misha Collins and Jensen Ackles) although generally speaking they're more respectful of the wives of the actors than J2 shippers, who are notoriously responsible for... a vast series of insane-fan misdemeanours. Historically most were also good at keeping RPF to themselves and not harassing celebrities with it directly, although recently, particularly with younger twitter fans, that has not been the case.
Sub-factions:
The ‘Desticule’ or ‘Destiel tumblr’ - general grouping of Destiel-shipping tumblr users around 20-30 years old, usually LGBT+, most who came back to the show post-15.18 after leaving it for various reasons including getting sick of the queerbaiting. Funniest bitches alive etc. and responsible for the best text posts you’ve ever seen. Can also start stupid discourse and in-group drama when they’re bored.
'POLOL' - People of Lots of Letters, a discord group (of tumblr and twitter users) that ran on the assumption Andrew Dabb was playing a hugely intricate game of 3D chess to do with gnostic symbolism among other things, and would make Destiel canon. Have since had their own factional sub-wars and fallen apart a bit. Some of their meta was and is good and interesting! Some of it was wildly off the mark. Now generally insist that Dabb/the writers were all pushing for Destiel canon and the network is entirely to blame.
Twitter fans (TikTok edition) - younger fans around 18 and younger who (FOR REASONS BEYOND ME) started watching the show around 2018-2020. Definition of 'stans'. Tend to be very loud and aggressive on twitter when Events Happen, which like. I do get, because they've grown up in a completely different media environment and this kind of Dinosaur Politicking around LGBT+ issues is beyond them. Fancam central. Anyway stream #CASTIEL for clear skin!
Twitter fans (AO3 edition) - older fans around 30+ who kept going with the show but either don't have a large tumblr presence or just prefer twitter. A lot of fic writers, GISH-ers, and BNFs in this group. Some of them are very cool and reasonable in their opinions, some of them act like the younger stans. Some of them too accepting of what happened wrt 15.19-20 in my opinion, because, in contrast to the younger twitter stans, they grew up expecting Destiel to NEVER be canon or respected. 'Can't believe we got this far' etc.
Multiship faction
Multishippers or shippers of things not as large as the two main behemoths . Sub-factions based on shipping, e.g. Megstiel and Sastiel. I don't think these groups are very large though, and seem to have very little influence in the Discourse.
Wincest faction
LARGE overlap with the 'BiBro' faction and their opinions, which I'll get to. Ship Sam and Dean romantically. Often pretend to be BiBros on places like twitter and reddit in order for outside groups to take their opinions more seriously. 'Wincesties' etc. are derogatory nicknames given by the Destiel faction.
Sub-factions:
Multiship fans - ship Sam and Dean but respect Castiel/the 'found family'. Politically overlap with the faction of multishippers, I think. I don't have a lot of insight on this group of people honestly, but I know they exist.
Bronlies - the typical BiBro and 'Wincest' shippers most people think of, twitter user 'Kelios' is one of the would-be ringleaders of this faction - typically tend to be older white midwestern women. Historically have been pretty nasty on twitter (leading to Robert Berens, writer who made Destiel canon, occasionally subtweeting Kelios). Also tend to ship 'J2' - and take it very seriously as a legitimate thing that is really real. This is called 'tinhatting'.
BiBro faction
People who think the show should JUST be about the brothers, love Supernatural s1-3 and everything after it should have been just like Supernatural s1-3. Hate Castiel, Jack, and the 'found family'. Largely loved 15.20. Go to literally any comments section on any Supernatural article and You Will Find Them complaining about how the show should just be about the Brothers. Tend to be older, straighter, and more conservative/Republican (and male) fans. (I am aware that the definition of 'BiBro' used to refer to people who just liked the brothers but there's no definitional difference now in the discourse.) The Wincest and BiBro faction are generally much more wealthy than the Destiel faction (they being younger and more diverse/queer/left-leaning in general) and would be the biggest revenue generators at conventions etc.
Sub-factions:
Reddit bros - literally anyone who visits r/supernatural. Well, that's not fair - there are people who post reasonable opinions on there, but it's pretty rare and they get downvoted a lot. Like to talk about 'toxic Destiel fans' 'ruining the show' and how Dean is a straight man who is straight and could never possibly be gay. Might even think the confession was platonic despite all evidence to the contrary. I'm Not Homophobic I Have Gay Friends, But No Gays on MY Show!
Old Guard - group of older fans who overlap strongly with the Wincest faction, but might not necessarily ship Wincest.
GA faction
'General Audience' - These are the group of audience members that aren't 'online' so to speak; most watch the show on TV as a Casual Viewing Experience (are therefore also sometimes referred to as 'casuals'. Mostly their opinions tend towards BiBros, but they have a vast range of baffling views thanks to being Not Online and usually Not caring about Supernatural that much or thinking that deeply about it.
Sub-factions:
People who simply watch Supernatural on TV and then don't think about it very much after that.
I said they weren't 'online' but that's not entirely true; I'd probably classify people on Supernatural Facebook Groups as GA, along with friends of friends who post statuses about how 15.20 was a neat finale that wrapped up the series.
Conclusion
Supernatural is famously the show that appeals to both Republicans and Democrats, literally All Orientations, so there's a WIDE range of factions. However, most warring online boils down to Destiel vs. Wincest/BiBro - the war that started in Season 4 and has simply never ended. In terms of the 'actors' and their stans, in general, Wincest/BiBro fans love Jared, like Jensen, and dislike Misha. Destiel fans love Misha, like Jensen, and dislike Jared. Of course as with everything, there are variations and this is just a generalisation. But that's the summary of it, from my perspective!
This didn't even get into Sam girls, Dean girls and Cas girls. God. Anyway.
Hope that answered your question, anon!

Terrence McNally (November 3, 1938 – March 24, 2020) was an American playwright, librettist, and screenwriter. [wikipedia]
I was thinking about McNally’s controversial play Corpus Christi after reading this argument for the reinstatement of blasphemy laws in the U.S.: https://iusetiustitium.com/originalist-blasphemy/  The author also has an article in Harvard Law Review: https://harvardlawreview.org/2021/12/blasphemy-and-the-original-meaning-of-the-first-amendment/
The author, a third year Harvard Law student, makes an originalist case for blasphemy laws: In essence, because X was believed to be true or right at some point in the past, this is sufficient reason for X to be the case in the future.
A key flaw in originalist jurisprudential reasoning is that if thinking, scholarship, science, values, knowledge and understanding have changed since an arbitrary point in history, that historical point in time from which the originalist derives source material for his preferred legal outcome, well, those more recent cultural developments can merely be either ignored entirely or minimized.
This is one of the reasons why the institution of blasphemy laws would likely be a non-starter in the US.
Which brings to McNally’s Corpus Christi: “an experimental play by Terrence McNally dramatizing the story of Jesus and the Apostles, ultimately depicting Jesus and the Apostles as gay men living in modern-day Texas.” [wikipedia]
In 1791, a fetishized year in this author’s analysis (incidentally a year in which people didn’t know what the sun was or where dinosaur bones came from and which is was generally believed that women were in most respects inferior to men), Corpus Christi would unquestionably have been considered blasphemous.  It’s entirely probable that this author would have been imprisoned or even killed by judicial decision or mob brutality, all in the name of Christian morality.
What about now? The play has generated controversy since its introduction, even violent opposition.
Tumblr media
(A promotional photo from the Oklahoma City Theatre Company (of all places) from 2015.) https://www.oklahoman.com/story/entertainment/arts/2015/03/21/oklahoma-city-theatre-company-stages-corpus-christi/60758697007/
But, it’s clear that Corpus Christi is not universally seen as blasphemous, with blasphemy defined in the anti-blasphemy author’s words as that which “maliciously revil[es] God or Christianity.”
For any number of Christians this play is not blasphemous and indeed might even be read as an affirmation of faith, correcting perceived historicized lacunae of the gospels.
I have no strong personal view of the matter, but there’s at least one Christian theologian who argues for Jesus being gay.  See The Man Jesus Loved: Homoerotic Narratives from the New Testament.
At a party several years ago a lead guitar player in a local progressive rock band who was also a Lutheran minister told me he wouldn’t have a problem giving a sermon depicting Jesus as a gay man.
In other words, we’re no longer living in the 1950s, the 1870s, or in 1791.
How we think about religion, about notions of the sacred, about the methods of biblical interpretation, about rights like speech, religion and conscience, about sexuality, about the role of the erotic in life, in religion - it’s all grown more complex and sophisticated.
And it fatally undermines the simplistic, black and white view of the world promulgated by this supporter of blasphemy laws.  There’s no going back to Puritan America, the Norman Rockwell Thanksgiving dinner, the wife in the kitchen, the LGBT in the closet.
Or, the public expression of an orthodox religious faith that can use the law to shield itself from academic investigation or criticism, scientific explanation, moral argument or public debate.
If the “acid” of secularism, modernism, naturalism and science can only be kept at bay through an arbitrary assertion of judicial force, then this should tell us a lot about the adequacy of the religious foundations on which this theocratic revanchism is built.

For the ask game... 20 and 21?
Damn it, Yoru — why you gotta hit me with the hard questions? 🤣
20. Your favorite book?
This honestly changed a lot over the years, but in recent times my favorite has to be His Majesty’s Dragon by Naomi Novik. I’ll always a enjoy a full on fantasy novel, but I am absolute glutton for historical fiction when it’s done right. In this case, the Napoleonic Wars, but with aviators who ride dragons? Hell fucking yeah, sign me up for that.
That aside, Laurence and Temeraire are right up there with Hiccup and Toothless as one of my absolute favorite dragon rider pairs, and their relationship in the book and throughout the series has definitely found its way into my own writing.
21. Your favorite show?
Ok, so I’m actually gonna have to list these out cause there’s a lot, so bear with me:
Dinosapien (2007) — The first time I watched this was back when I was 10 years old, but it’s simple premise—what if dinosaurs never went extinct—has secured a place in my imagination for years since. The last rerun was back in 2012, but a gracious uploaded the whole series to YouTube, so I’ve been rewatching the whole series for that childhood nostalgia.
The Future is Wild — Referring to both the documentary-style series that aired in 2003, and then the animated version that ran on Discovery Kids alongside Dinosapien in 2007. All three together sparked my love for speculative evolution, and while at this point they’re severely outdated, they continue to inspire me to this day. (Also, I recently discovered that TFIW got a manga as well??? 👀 Gonna have to dig for that)
Teen Titans (2003-2007) — Okay, so this series sparked a LOT of firsts with me. This was what got little baby Drek into the world of DC Comics to begin with, and where he found his first cartoon crush (#RavenSupremacy). Most importantly, however, it was what exposed me to fan culture at large, and led me to want to create my own works within that universe. As such, this series holds a VERY special place in my heart.
Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts (2020) — To be perfectly honest, I wasn’t exactly sure about this series at first, and wasn’t intending on watching it until my little brother roped me into it. When he did, though...holy shit, I fell hard. The soundtrack, the setting, the art style, the characters...everything about it was just so FRESH. AND SOMEHOW THEY GOT THREE SEASONS OUT IN ONE YEAR, YET IT’S STILL AMAZING??? If that’s not downright kick-ass inspiring, I don’t know what to tell you.
Gravity Falls (2012–2016) — Two words: Grunkle Stan. That’s it. Which then leads me into...
The Owl House (2020–) — Featuring Grunkle Stan’s soulmate, Eda the Owl Lady, as well as her witch apprentice and surrogate daughter Luz Noceda, who really just speaks to me on so many freaking levels. To be honest, everything about the show does—I am fully well aware that I’m a weirdo, and unfortunately I have also gotten some shit for it when I was younger. I was that kid who stayed by themselves most of the time, lost in their world, and while I was fine with that, I still wished I had people outside my immediately family that I could be weird around. But that was ten years ago—now I’ve finally found my people, and they are every bit the super nerdy weirdos that I am. We hyperfixate together, even if we have different tastes/fandoms, and we always have each other’s back no matter what. They helped me to embrace my weirdness, and I feel The Owl House definitely reflects that part of my life. (The LGBT representation is also a major plus—I adore Lumity with my heart and soul ;;V;;)
Hilda (2018–2021) — This show is like a warm fuzzy blanket, and it makes my inner Scandinavian/Norse mythology heart squeal in delight. (If you haven’t yet, PLEASE GO WATCH IT.)
