Design 2 of the Riz Gukgak Detective set! This design is available here if you want to take it home :) think this one turned out very cool and arcane which was the goal to balance out the cyber detective vibes of the last design.
I love how gaudy and gold and flashy this one is as compared to the bright, phone screen reminiscent black and white tone I did previously. Hope you all like it as well! One more Riz design might be cooking before I move on to the next character/poll :P

My theory is that Alastor was a total fraud, that he didn’t kill all those overlords, but instead took credit for someone else’s secret killing of them, to raise his rep, and then slowly acquire some actual power through soul collecting. And that this was the reason he would make a deal with *someone*, for some real power in case he ever found himself in an actual fight, either with the real killer, or someone else entirely. To say most of the time he was smiling it was to cover genuine nervousness, an everlasting fear that someone, anyone would recognise him for the fraud he is. To say the real reason he didn’t join the Vees was that he knew they would figure him out. Like if you look at ‘Stayed Gone’, you know how Vox glitches out during the song and it seems Alastor does it from afar? The previous part of the song has Vox skip down the hallway to the other Vees while singing, and on his first step, ONE OF ALASTOR’S SYMBOLS GLOWS ON THE FLOOR BEFORE VANISHING. This barely lasts a few frames, but it is real, it is there, to say Alastor’s power is based on the illusion of it: he is a powerful demon now, sure, but not all-powerful. Hence why his duets were always about getting under the other’s skin: because they are more powerful than him, but do not know it. Lucifer being the first he would go up against to actually know himself more powerful, hence Alastor’s annoyance, not wanting weakness to give way to further weakness. Maybe in the present after his deal he thought he had that power, hence why he looked so confused when Adam beat him: he really thought the power he was given was enough to stand against him and win. Given the Vees will apparently be main characters next season, and we’ve gotten to know some of the current overlords, I would not be surprised if the big mystery next season is overlords going missing again, only this time Alastor will be unable to take responsibility for the disappearance, and we the audience will learn the truth of what he is, or rather what he’s not.
I wanna agree in part to this, because I also believe Alastor is playing up his skill for more than it is.
He's the radio demon, that MEDIA. And the strongest parts of media is rephrasing data to the masses as to mislead them. This, in turn, would also be Vox's strength, and thus those two are locked into an eternal battle of (mis)information.
That's also why alastor probably engaged in the stayed gone rap duel in the first place. He position is already precarious what with the 7 year absence, but if vox now starts gaining foothold in their little war? Alastor would be fucked long term.
Alastor is also clearly BETTER at what he does than Vox. Because vox is less of a show host demon and more of a CEO/Producer demon. I collect strong allies to put in front of the camera, he himself isn't really a face for TV (haha see what I did there?)
I do believe though that Alastor has some inherent strength. He is adept in the arcane more so than your average demon, his voodoo capabilities are presumably what give him a leg up in hell.
Also. Alastor was a MURDERER. A serial killer at that!!! Presumably that's actually not what most people did before hell. For example: angel dust got into hell for his drug addictions, husk for his gambling addiction. Valentino probably landed his ass down there for exploitation (though he shows a carelessness for the lives of those he considers property), velvette I assume will be revealed to either b cyber bullying of sabotaging competition and Vox seems to be in hell for crimes of capitalism. (These are mainly head canons but My point is more that these people aren't in hell for murder explicitly.)
Alastor is powerful, but he DEFINITELY is lying and obfuscatinga bout how powerful exactly. It works to his benefit. Unlike Vox who has the urge to PROVE his strength at every turn.
And this is actually something they're polar opposites on. Vox is honest to a fault. Literally, to a fault. He NEEDS hell to know that the demon is back. He NEEDS them to realize that he doesn't want them to even give him their time of day. He needs velvette and Valentino to witness his whole manic episode about it.
Meanwhile Alastor couldn't be honest if his life depended on it, literally. He must have known that he can't beat Adam. Deep down he must have realized how FUCKED he would be. But he either a) deluded himself that he stands a chance or b) lied to the other in order to safe face.
Also a big part of alastor are his deals. He literally bluffed himself into a position of power, by misleading others into deals that would benefit him much more than them.
Husk retained his power, but how does it matter if Alastor wields it?
Charlie has to do one favor that 'harms no one' but what if it ends up being something that benefits people that are purely evil?
His deals suck ASS and people fall for it anyways because he either gives them no other option or make them feel like they're having the upper hand for once.
But at the end of the day he is just a sinner. If Lucifer wanted to he could obliterate his Twink ass in a second. Adam too, could've absolutely finish alastor, but he delighted in the radio demon running away from him. Probably because Adam understand what kind of blow to the go that must've been to the guy.

Batman: Black and Blue is an upcoming adult animated TV show inspired by its predecessors Batman: The Animated Series and The Batman (2004) - catered to an older audience, it takes visual cues from not only the Dark Knight's long history of printed comics, but also more recent 3D animated works like Arcane and Into The Spiderverse. Built on the crime-stricken streets of a busy, towering cyber-noir Gotham, armed to the nines with fresh interpretations of classic characters and a pervading eldritch flair in the lines of the city, Black and Blue aims to take the viewer deep into a spiraling, unexpected view of the caped crusader's world that we've never quite seen the likes of before...
...is what i would say if this were a real show. but i can dream 😔

Urban Magic in Video Games: Merging Grit with Wonder
In an era where hyper-realistic graphics and in-depth storytelling captivate the gaming audience, developers have concocted the perfect blend of two seemingly opposing worlds: the gritty urban landscapes and the ethereal touch of magic. From neon-soaked alleys to clandestine spells cast beneath city skyscrapers, this blend promises gamers a one-of-a-kind experience. Dive into the world of urban magic with these iconic video games.
Deus Ex Series Despite being fundamentally a cyberpunk saga, the Deus Ex series has always maintained an underlying tone of mysticism. The world of augmented humans, shady governments, and dark alleys is also a place where ancient cults and arcane rituals dictate the flow of power. The game is a testament to how tech and magic can blend seamlessly.
The Wolf Among Us Telltale's episodic interactive fantasy mystery is an adaption of Bill Willingham's Fables comic book series. It showcases characters from folktales and fairy tales living incognito in the heart of New York City. Protagonist Bigby Wolf, the erstwhile Big Bad Wolf, navigates the city's grime and glamour, ensuring that the magical community's secrets stay hidden from human eyes.
Shadowrun Series Set in a future where cyber enhancements and ancient magic coexist, Shadowrun offers a distinctive blend of tech and mysticism. As you navigate through the game's cyberpunk version of Seattle, magic is as commonplace as hacking, and mythical creatures like dragons play a pivotal role in corporate politics.
Shenmue Series The vast majority of Shenmue is rooted in realism, with its meticulously detailed environments and life simulation mechanics. However, as players near the climax, especially in the latter part of Shenmue III, they are met with a startling twist of mysticism. The final sequence pulls away from the game's realistic confines, introducing a world where magic becomes a reality. It's a startling departure from the game's overarching tone, emphasizing the unpredictability and wonder of urban magic.
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines Los Angeles might seem like an odd place to find vampires, but this RPG plunges players deep into its underworld, where blood-sucking creatures lurk in the shadows of the City of Angels. With powerful disciplines (vampiric powers) at your disposal, the game is a stellar example of urban fantasy where supernatural entities navigate the complexities of modern city life.
Dishonored Series The steampunk city of Dunwall is plagued by corruption and plague. Amidst its grimy streets and dark waters, the protagonist, Corvo, is armed with otherworldly powers granted by a mysterious figure known as the Outsider. From teleportation to summoning swarms of rats, the blend of magic and industrial-age tech makes Dishonored a noteworthy mention in the realm of urban magical games.
The appeal of these games lies in their ability to juxtapose the roughness of city life with the enchantment of magical elements. It's a testament to the boundless realms of creativity, where developers envision worlds that, despite their stark contrasts, blend together in harmony, creating adventures that remain etched in players' memories.

Trigger should totally do a faithful Gunnm/Battle Angel anime. Ppl pretty much check out anything they put out so it’d bring the series a lot of attention.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
With Edgerunners and Gurren Laggan specifically, they’ve already displayed their balance of brutal chaotic action with cyber dystopian themes and touching emotional beats.
Tumblr media
A lot of their designs mesh well with yukito kishiro’s characters and style.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Unless someone else puts in a fat budget for some experimental groundbreaking 3D like in Arcane or Spiderverse and the like, Trigger’s style is always first choice.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The manga is just so good, it’s be cool to see the full long form story retold in their beautiful animation and bring in a ton of new fans (and perhaps sequels to the movie pls it’s also very cool). Plus I wouldn’t hate some updates that cherry pick the better story elements from the existing iterations

A while ago, I found an old sketch of a Fakemon I made, and I figured I'd try to redesign and reinterpret it to fit in with other monster-taming games! Some of the iterations have different names either to fit in with the game's naming scheme or because the design changed significantly. Redesigns and their respective games are listed below!
Tumblr media
Pokémon:
I'm mostly happy with how this came out. That said, I probably didn't need a second set of highlights for most of the drawing, and I'd like to find a brush that looks more pencil-like for the line art. When I originally drew this guy, I wanted to put a twist on the more typical mimic-mon design by having it striking from boxes and crates instead of the now-expected Pokéballs.
Tumblr media
Temtem:
This is probably one of the furthest abstractions from the original I've drawn so far. There don't seem to be any creatures in Temtem that are especially inorganic looking (even the Cyber types are cyborg-like), so I figured I'd model it after a garden eel since they basically behave like an organic jack-in-the-box.
Tumblr media
Nexomon:
This was the first time I decided to change the name. To fit in with Nexomon's type system, I based the design off of the French name for Jack-in-the-boxes, "Diable en Boîte" (Devil in a Box". By the time this design was finished, I figured it didn't fit the name Jabbox anymore, so I changed it to "Seeldevil" (from "Sealed Evil" and "Devil").
Tumblr media
Cassette Beasts:
This one was the most like the original in design and behavior. The real gimmick to this iteration is that it'd be the only naturally occurring Glitter type in the game, being partly based off of glitter bombs. I also wanted to change the fist-head to an abstracted peace sign to fit the game's overall vibe, and it calls back to the slapstick trope of poking someone's eyes out ala The Three Stooges. I may also make a sprite from this drawing complete with bootleg recolors!
Tumblr media
Siralim:
This was the first sprite-based design I made. I leaned a little into the monster-clown motif here so it could fit in with Siralim's more brutal takes on monsters. Moreover, this will likely be only one of two or three designs to not have a portmanteau as a name. In lore, these creatures would be crafted from the severed arm of a lesser demon and a few arcane machine components, now doomed to serving as both a babysitter and as a living toy. Variants of this design will have to come at a much later date cause making one pixel art hand was bad enough, making 5-6 extra would've broken me.
Tumblr media
Monster Crown:
Speaking of drawing more pixel art hands! I wanted to lean harder into the monster-clown flavor since the denizens of Monster Crown are much more violent in their behavior. Making this sprite was a fun challenge since I was limited to a 4-color palette, and I intend to make the five other variant forms at a later date to go along with the game's cross-breeding system.
Tumblr media
Coromon:
This is the last design I've made for now. I was initially intimidated by the prospect of imitating Coromon's art style as it's not only detailed but also smoothly animated. After axing the idea of replicating the animation style, I felt more comfortable working on this sprite. The overall design is derived from a theory that the original jack-in-the-box was based on a folktale about a demon getting sealed in a boot. I also threw in a few Muppet-esque elements so it'd better fit its Normal typing. The head is shaped like a "Devil Horns" sign, with the actual horns serving as the fingers and the single paw in place of the thumb. Making the Potent and Perfect recolors should be a much easier process and will likely be the soonest of the variant sets to come out.
Other planned designs:
Digimon, Dragon Quest Monsters, Ni No Kuni, Yo-Kai Watch
Lemme know if there are any other monster tamers/creature collectors with unique styles I should tackle!

I wanna hear more abt Cam's backstory!!! U mentioned she was a super soldier - who created her? For what purpose? How does she feel abt her origin? Is it a secret?
yessss shes fun and this will be long so under the cut it goes
in thanes story there is an evil princess who goes by "persephone" who has a 2nd in command thats this girl who lived a couple hundred years ago and entered a pact with the princess, but was tricked into eternal service. i think her name is cora
Tumblr media
shes been kept "alive" in this deal because her family had a blessing from the gods that made them unaffected by arcane magic (like wizard magic wont land but cleric or druid are fine) and persephone and her friends wanted to figure out how to use this for their evil plans etc. and also just for persephones weird games and novelty. she does not want to be in this deal or work with this woman or her freak friends. its supposed to be real fucked up. with the help of the protagonists like thane and his friends she eventually is able to break out of it and takes persephone and herself out. yay!
Tumblr media
NOW. before that part of the story happened, persephones freak friends had been working with her to try and replicate the gods blessing and eventually turned to cloning cora until it worked. the first successful attempt was cam. she was grown in a magic test tube and when she matured she was immediately trained to be an assassin that could be sent to hunt down wizards who couldnt fight back. she was used in secret, so i dont think cora knew she existed, but cam knew she was a clone. she developed a complex about not being her own person, got more and more uncontrollable as she gained more of a sense of her own autonomy.
she breaks out and runs, they try to recapture her but she ends up killing more agents than theyre willing to give up so they just let her be. they can always make more clones with cora. enter cora blowing herself and the princess up.
the cyber limbs she has were given to help her kill weak mages, but she actually really likes them. she wants to find a way to alter her appearence even more, because looking at herself and just seeing the original girl freaks her out. theres a cool post in her tag that reminds me of the themes there. the limbs arent unbreakable, so she seeks out engineers who can keep them in working condition.
she is also obsessed when she meets ditto because their form can change and theyre so freaky. she wishes she had that power and shes a little invasive about it but they grow closer and they let her climb inside their chest cavity so love wins ♥️

Enjoying the city generator? There's more where that came from.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Head to my profile on Itch to look at the Magic & Everyday Items Generator (including weird coins for your weird city), the Quest Generator (everyone could do with a weird quest), or the Cyberpunk Corporation Generator (which could flesh out your weird city's industries, since it also does cyber fantasy), and more (including the BitD Arcane Implements generator, which absolutely could give you a pair of tweezers made of bread.)
All weirdness certified 100% organic, artisanal, and non-AI.

~OC Character Themes~
Updated: 3/15
So this is something that I’ve been wanting to do for a while now. I’ll have to come back and update it later, since I’m still blank on several characters, but I wanted to compile a list of the themes that represent my Sonic OCs and the Starpoint AU.
Some of them haven’t been introduced yet, but they will be. Soon enough ;)
Also—yes half of these are RWBY songs. XD Although I don’t watch the show, they make some banger tracks that just fit really well with moments and scenes. 🤘
Starpoint Arc: RWBY - Touch The Sky, RWBY - Indomitable / RWBY - Guide My Way / RWBY - Trapdoor
If the Starpoint Act had a theme song, it would be Touch the Sky. It encapsulates the quirky and goofy vibes of the whole arc. Dynamics and interactions between characters, clashing personalities yet also times of joy and having fun. The good times between the Starpoint Squad.
Indomitable encapsulates the first half of the AU as well, though sung from Rivet’s perspective in a sort of reminiscing kind of way. The soft moments, she remembers, the relationships and connections that form between Starline and the group, the triumphs they face together, and the moment that ends up being the cruel turning point for everything.
Guide My Way and Trapdoor play during the final event of this act. The themes for a giant, spanning battle to save Aethos.
Downfall Arc: RWBY - Fear , RWBY - For Every Life
Fear encapsulates the Downfall Arc, which spills into IDW canon, where everything falls apart and friendships lie fractured. Starline’s dreams are reached and battles are fought between former friends. Betrayal, regret, pain, and despair run deep. Can any of it be salvaged?
For Every Life would be the theme song for this arc.
Restoration Arc: Porter Robinson - Look At The Sky / Porter Robinson - Wind Tempos
Look At The Sky and Wind Tempos encapsulate the Restoration Arc as a whole, and Starline’s journey through recovering, learning to accept forgiveness, and rebuilding the things and relationships that got destroyed. The soft moments with him and Rivet, and the confrontations and reconciliations he has with the Starpoint Squad. A new start. Moving forward into the future.
OC Songs
Rivet: Sonic Frontiers Cyber Space 1-2 - Flowing / Arcane - Goodbye / Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars
Rivet was first and foremost a Rider from the start of her creation as a character. Flowing encapsulates her free flowing spirit and joy of flight. It’s also a nod to her roots, as the world she’s originally from was more technologically advanced.
Goodbye is her regarding... everything she’s lost. A song of regret and sorrow.
Chasing Cars is her and Starline’s theme. Their soft moments, the unsurity between them, their battles, and their eventual reunion at the end of it all. The highs and lows, the good and the bad. All wrapped in one lovely song.
Charge: NF - The Search / RWBY - Quiet / Rooster Teeth - Death Battle: All-Consuming
The Search reflects the side Charge doesn’t talk about as often to anyone. It signifies his inner thoughts and captures the epitome of his stress and fear over his nightmares.
The other two enter major spoiler territory that I’m not ready to share about yet. So for now, I’ll let you imagine what they represent. ;3
Hex: Shadrow - This Hell / Shadrow - Shapes / Sonic Frontiers Remix - The Finding of Your Flame
The first two represent Hex’s neverending struggle with being ignored. Of being teased and pushed down by people who don’t take him seriously because of how young he is, and those who refuse to even give him a chance because they’re jealous of his skills. (Also, he’s a big video game kid, so the chiptune fits well.)
The Finding of Your Flame is his victory theme. Where he finally does break through all of that and proves himself to be just as capable as the rest. 🔥
Cello: Hatsune Miku - LeftBehindCity (Torinoko City)
Torinoko City reflects Cello’s isolation and strained relationship with her father. The contention she feels that he doesn’t support her dreams, and her wish that he would just be proud of her.
Lug: Ghost Trick - The Imprisoned
While I’m still struggling to find a true song that fits him, I feel this one captures his overzealousness to help, to encourage, and to support Hex. It also has the vibes of him being a big dumb brute. (We love him for it 💖)
Professor Yew: I Expect You to Die 3 - Cog in the Machine
Yew is an environmentalist who dreams of a better world for everyone. Although it starts out as an innocent dream, through the course of certain events, she slowly decends into villainy. This song is a love letter to the people who kicked her out for her borderline insane ideas, and highlights who she is and what she believes in. It showcases how she now sees everyone around her as a means to an end, all in the name of betterment. They’re all a ‘cog in her machine’ to victory, if you will. ;p
Zeroth: Yuki Hyashi - Let’s Dance with Me, Here in Hell / The Promised Neverland - Existence of an Insider / Dawko - Behind the Mask
An ancient creature of darkness. He may seem like no threat when he first opens his mouth, but whatever he utters will bring about nothing but destruction.
