Stop Using Slurs in Children Stories!
I bet that caught your attention. You might be thinking, what stories use the N-word, or the F-word, well...none that I found. However, there are two slur words that are often used in writing mainly in children's literature because I don’t think enough people know them to be slurs. Those words are cripple and savage.
Before I begin, I need to address a few things. First, I'll only use these words in full for educational purposes so nothing gets confusing. Secondly, I’m not hating on any of these authors. I genuinely think these people might not know cripple and savage are slurs. However, I still need examples of what I’m talking about to explain how common these words are used in writing as well as explaining why it’s a bad idea to use them, so I’m using these authors, not as targets but as examples based on the books I have.
Both of these words (cripple and savage) have a lot of history behind them, and while I strongly suggest, not using them, if for some reason, they have to be used, you need to hire a sensitivity reader who’s a part of the communities that has been affected by said words before you publish your story.
Cripple:
Before I begin, please understand I’ve consulted with a disabled person who’s well knowledgeable in this topic to help smooth out my points. I’m not apart of the physically disabled community. As I’ve been told there’s a big debate going on within the disabled community in regards to if mental disabled people are allowed to use the word cripple or not. This is beyond my understanding of the word, and the community so when I mention the word cripple, I’ll be referring it to the physical disabled community and not the mental one. Everything I’m about to say has already been said by the physically disabled community. I’m not adding anything new or talking over them. If you would like to know more about the language of disability, please read Cy-Cyborg’s article on the matter: https://writingwithcycyborg.blogspot.com/2024/02/LanguageOfDisability.html
Cripple is a world that’s defined one of three ways, to either describe someone who can’t function properly, to describe a situation that’s overwhelming, or to describe an object that isn’t working.
Example one: DragonFire: Sphere of Eternity (book 1)
Tumblr media
“I mean, this morning, no offence, you were crippled.” (Describing a person.)
Example two: “The economy was crippled.” (Describing a situation)
Example three: DragonFire: Age of Legend (book 3) (describing an object)
Tumblr media
The word cripple, even when it was used in a medical sense has always been a word to punch down and insult the physically disabled community. It was used to attack them and point out their disabilities. It became a common replacement for the word injured because it has a more of a punch. Instead of calling someone “severely injured” use cripple instead, it’s shorter and a lot punchier of a word. Over time it became part of normal vocabulary to use it while describing something as severe, despite it still being used as an insult at the same time. Let’s look at an example of how it’s being used to describe an injury in Robert Vane's A Dragons Chains: Book one of the Remembered War
Tumblr media
“I moved my three non-crippled legs…” In this example, the dragon has an injured leg. Why did the author use the word cripple instead of injured? I think it’s because of shock value. Is it cheap shock value? Yes, but shock value for the reader is still shock value. Tell me, what’s the difference would be if the author replaced the word cripple with injured? “I moved my three non-injured legs...” Does using the word cripple add to the sense of urgency? Add to the sense of how injured that character's leg is? Or was it merely just a place for shock value?
But how often is this word used? Let’s take a quick look at the DragonFire series. There are currently four books in this series at the time of writing, and the word crippled is used twelve times throughout four books. Knowing it’s a slur...that’s a lot.
Some of the examples in which it was used are in things such as DragonFire: Fallen Star (book 2) where it reads:
Tumblr media
Or
“...he yelled, his scythed tail coiling round, only for the far less crippled dragon to kick him off.” DragonFire: Order of Enishra (book 4)
It’s not just the DragonFire series which does this, other examples include, The Last Monster on Earth by LJ Davies
Tumblr media
Which uses it four times in one book with examples such as “Lock these two in the truck with the cripple…”
Warriors: Forest of Secrets (book 3) has this line. “As Fireheart said goodbye to Yellowfang and went back to hunting, he felt a new surge of determination to bring Tigerclaw’s guilt into the open. For the sake of Redtail, murdered; for Ravenpaw, driven from the Clan; for Cinderpaw, crippled...”
And even Wings of Fire, one of my favourite book series uses it.
Tumblr media
Here’s a question for you. Is it ok to use that word if the impact is meant to be insulting? In the Wings of Fire example, Queen Scarlet defeats Dune in combat, and is about to kidnap the main characters. Dune, still breathing can barley move upon which Scarlet killed him. Scarlet is one of those pure evil types of characters, this is something I could see her saying, but let’s take a step back and put your eyes in the eyes of a disabled child.
Here you are, a disabled child. You already know what the word cripple is, and it’s been used against you (don’t act like this doesn’t happen). You read Wings of Fire and you come across that sentence. What is the intent behind that sentence in the eyes of a disabled child? Are you supposed to be scared of Scarlet? Angry? Or are you upset, because even in a fantasy book with talking dragons, you can’t escape from real life or that word?
Some of you might say, “What if only the villains use that word?” While I can see Queen Scarlet calling Peril a stupid retarded motherfucker. It’s not something you want in a children's story, so why does cripple get a past?
I hope you’re getting the picture, it’s a very commonly used word, one which the disabled community has begged able-bodied people not to use. The word injured gets the same point across and it doesn’t have a history of it being a derogatory term. While replacing the word cripple with injured or severely injured isn’t a perfect fix, it’s at least getting rid of the other word which is a start at least.
Now before I continue with the other slur, I can hear some of you say you’re aware disabled people are using cripple to describe themselves. Why can’t able-bodied people use it? Here’s the thing. Not everyone in the disabled community is doing this, and it’s not a monolith. The word cripple has been used as an attack against the disabled community for decades. It targets them, puts them down, and it’s only used against them. You only use the term to refer to something as injured so there's no reason to use it on an able-bodied person. The community in which it was used against is taking that word and trying to empower it amongst themselves. You’re not gonna complain if someone who’s black uses the N-word, so why are you upset when disabled people use the word cripple to describe themselves but are saying you can’t? That word belongs to them and their community, not yours. Also, one more thing before I go, not everyone in the disabled community uses this word or wants to hear it. There have been plenty of disabled people who are fine using that word to describe themselves but won’t say it around others if other disabled people express they don’t want to hear it. So be mindful if you’re gonna use it and please hire a sensitivity reader.
Savage:
This word...I have a lot of history with it because it’s a word that’s used against my community, (indigenous) people. And yet, just like the word cripple, it’s used all the time and while it’s a very common occurrence where indigenous voices aren’t heard, we’ve been telling everyone to just drop this word. Unlike the word cripple, we aren’t trying to claim this word, we just want it gone.
The definition of this word is an easy one to understand. It’s to describe a person, object, or an action as barbaric, wild, aggressive, unintelligent, or barely even human.
Example one: “They’re savages, savages, barely even human” Disney, Pocahontas (1995). (Used against people)
Example two:DragonFire: Age of Legend (book 3) by LJ Davies
Tumblr media
“I opened my muzzled to respond, but another savage roar drew our attention…” (Used as an action)
Example three:
Tumblr media
(Used against a group of people)
Example four: “Savage weaponry” (Use to describe an object)
I’m gonna be using the series DragonFire a lot for my examples, because out of all the books I got, that series uses the word 19 times throughout books one, two, and three. It was used twelve times in book three and I guess someone told LJ Davies about this problem because it doesn’t appear in book four. But it DOES appear in the spin-off series “Tales of DragonFire: Rebellion” twice, and THIRTEEN TIMES in “The Last Monster on Earth”. Overall, that's THIRTY-FOUR TIMES in the course of five books, all meant for children.
LJ Davies isn’t my only example. Chester Young, used it nine times throughout books 1 and 2 of the Celestial Heir books Rowan Silver, used it once in Eyes of Silver: Dragons and Skylines (book 2) And Robert Vane, used it once in the Remembered War series in book 4
Let’s start by showing off some examples and the impact they have and please note, that this might be something you’re just not experienced with. So just like with the disabled child, try to imagine yourself as an indigenous child. You’re fully aware of the word savage, it’s been used against you, and your people. So when you read a text like “Trade with the savages...they wouldn’t understand the concept!”
Tumblr media
It feels awfully familiar to lines you read in your history books about your people. Keep in mind, that you wanted to read a story about dragons so you could get away from real life.
Tumblr media
(From the Last Monster on Earth by LJ Davies)
I know the United States called the Native Americans savage monsters while stealing their land, it was used as a way to justify their actions, make the natives appear barley even human or in most cases, not human at all, let’s not forget, for a good majority of the building of the United States, those founding fathers didn’t see anyone other than themselves as humans. Reading text, asking how people became savage monsters overnight should remind you how people labelled indigenous people in the past and still do today.
"To confirm the princess’s words, yes, there is an army out there whose numbers vastly exceed our own. Nevertheless, they are a crude mockery of the noble kind they once were, and they are now nothing but savages….There was a series of grunts and nods at that statement...” (DragonFire: Age of Legend, book 3)
I think, this text is a great example of what I’ve been trying to say. In this text, the character who is speaking and the grunts and nods are all dragons with human-like intelligence. They're a stand-in for us. The Elder (who spoke in said text) has been seen and viewed as one of the good guys. He calls his kind noble, and he’s working with a princess, (let’s not forget our history books on how the royal family treated indigenous people). He calls his attackers “nothing but savages”. In translation, their monsters, who are no longer noble or righteous. There’s an agreement with his statement, as if what he says is right and we should be agreeing with him.
In that sentence, understanding everyone is of human intelligence and is a stand-in for humans. We have an old white knight, calling the enemy savages while the royal family are the heroes who are trying to protect their land from those filthy, disgusting, savages. You can kind of see why I’m saying we really shouldn’t be using this word.
Tumblr media
“Yellowfang will be allowed to stay here until she has recovered her strength. We are warriors, not savages…” Warriors: Into the Wild (book 1)
Savages...indigenous people, they aren’t warriors, they would’ve killed Yellowfang, and left her to rot in the wilds, Thunderclan is better than those monsters. Am I making my point clear enough when it comes to the history of this word, who it’s targeted against and how it comes across when reading in children's media?
You might’ve noticed I’ve mainly been using examples when it refers to a group of people, not necessarily showing off how commonly it’s used as either an action or an object because honestly...those are just kind of dumb. A savage roar? What does that mean?
Tumblr media
Ah yes, because we really needed the use of the word “savagely” to get the point across that Misuk just destroyed a person's skull. The “turning his head into a bloody pulp” wasn’t enough on its own. Without the use of the word savagely how else could we get the aggression and power across? When savage is used as an action it’s mostly because said character loses control of their humanity. They become savage when they attack and the end result is a bloody mess because that’s the only way indigenous, I mean, monsters, I mean barbarians, I mean savage people know how to fight. You often see these kinds of moments when the good guy who’d never hurt a fly loses control and unleashes hell, they turn into something that’s not themselves, they turned into a savage and these moments are meant to be shown as shocking as the character forgets who they are for a couple of seconds.
Indigenous people were savages, with savage strength, and a savage kind of culture. They scalp people, beat them to a bloody pulp, and ate your children. Those monsters needed to be killed. Whenever you use the word savage, it circles back to a group of minorities who were just trying to survive. This word has been used so much, that I don’t think many people realise the history behind it, which is why I said I’m not hating anyone who uses it, but please try to get a sensitivity reader. Get disabled and indigenous sensitivity readers, even if there’s no indigenous or disabled representation in your books, the words you use, still affect us and it’s a good thing to be aware of the words of which you speak and write.
Please be aware of these words, especially if you’re writing stories meant for children because the more children see these words, the more normal they’ll think it is and the more often they’ll start repeating it. I think there’s a time and place for these words, but saying them as an excuse to make something more shocking, isn’t the time or place.

#obey me michael#obey me luke#some time im gonna go on a little rant about my aged up Luke AU and how big of a role he plays in my fic later on#but for now I'll just drop little crumbs of info.#like the fact that he babysat Muse's kids all the time#and how he works together with Uriel to stabilize the Celestial Realm after Michael fucks it all up#also he allows Simeon back in bc. obviously lol#no but really he missed Simeon quite a bit and feels like he has little to no direction without him :(#eventually he figures stuff out on his own but he tries to visit Simeon as often as possible and always asks for his advice#he even wanted him to come back to the CR permanently and tried to get him to do so by inviting Muse and Solomon to take up residence there#but Simeon is said no to that. as did Muse. Solomon actually thought about it but also wanted to respect Muse and Sim's decision#buuuut Rowan (Muse's youngest kid) actually ended up moving there instead to study CR topics and knowledge#Luke occasionally asks for his assistance with things like errands or deliveries and messages#however... Rowan sometimes gives him trouble. they often have disputes or conversations over his stubborn will and anger.#technically Rowan agreed to be Luke's assistant but when things start getting intense he just... dips.#whether to read or study books and materials or search for secrets.#and when Luke calls him out on it he gets defensive about it. hes kind of an ass#not really how an angel should behave... but then again... he IS part human#Luke is gracious with him but holy heavens does he push his buttons sometimes

@freedthedark asked: THE TIME I NEEDED YOU 👀
send ‘THE TIME I NEEDED YOU’ for a time my muse needed yours.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
THERE ARE FEW MOMENTS ASSIGNED TO HER MEMORY WHERE SHE COULD RECALL A MOMENT WHEN THE RAIJINSHU LEADER WAS NEEDED. It was far and few between where she could recall a situation that required the presence of the jutsu shiki mage-- at least for a life-threatening situation. But perhaps his expertise would have been needed in a situation applicable to her personal life. A ward that guarded the entrance of her apartment to bar her landlord from entering her home without her permission would surely have been helpful and appreciative.
She would have needed him to lend her an ear for advice, for companionship and comfort. He had certainly proved a fun drinking companion!
And perhaps his insight on matters involving the heart...and the knowledge of laws, and what loopholes one could exploit for her own purposes.

Should you hug this monster?
Aberrations: Aberrations don't know what hugs are, so naturally, you should show them. Teach them hugs and they can teach you about squibbleblappening! Being squibbleblappened isn't as great if you lack tentacles but to be fair hugging loses a lot without skin.
Beasts: Absolutely hug the beasts. All animals are cuddleable without exception. I, mod pencil, fully endorse this advice and take full legal responsibility for any consequences of people acting on it.
Celestials: A good way to distinguish if you're a good person is to hug a celestial. If you are a good person, you will get a literally heavenly hug. If you are a bad one, you will be instantly obliterated with divine fire and sent to hell. It's a refreshing burst of simplicity in an often complex world.
Constructs: All constructs will attempt to hug you if you ask them to but in 90% of cases this is not a survivable experience. Maybe try being made of a less crushable material if you want to hug a construct?
Dragons: I mean you're not really the one deciding on hugs here. You're the cute harmless little animal in this is scenario, so the dragon is going to hug you. It may also put you in a funny outfit and upload the photos on Instagram. Sorry about this.
Elemental: Roll a d4 for nothing, moist, inert or dead. So about normal for hugging someone.
Fey: Hug a fey but only on a harvest moon in a space between nature and civilization while wearing your socks inside out and making sure to say nothing that could be interpreted as a promise or a question and be sure to bow afterwards and dance widdershins back home.
Fiend: Neutral evil fiends are the best to hug. Like, they'll steal your wallet and organs, but compared to being eaten or bound to eternal servitude, it's a pretty nice hug.
Giants: Some slight mechanical difficulties here but beyond that, you should be good. Ask the giant to aim you at the shops afterwards and get your groceries done at the same time.
Humanoids: Hug a humanoid? Gross!
Monstrosity: Monstrosities are good to hug but they won't let you hug them because you called them a monstrosity. That's really rude :(
Ooze: Under no circumstannnnnnnn PutT ArMs In M Oose nOw pls Is GoOd anD TasTy
Plant: God if only there was a term for this
Undead: Really it's just like hugging a normal person if hugs killed you. If it helps, at least you have good reason to think death might a glow up?

Make a Wish! How to See the Geminid Meteor Shower
Every December, we have a chance to see one of our favorite meteor showers – the Geminids. To help you prepare, we’ve answered some of your most commonly asked questions. Happy viewing, stargazers!
Tumblr media
These radar images of near-Earth object 3200 Phaethon were generated by astronomers at the National Science Foundation's Arecibo Observatory on Dec. 17, 2017. Observations of Phaethon were conducted at Arecibo from Dec. 15 through 19, 2017. At time of closest approach on Dec. 16 at 3 p.m. PST (6 p.m. EST, 2300 UTC), the asteroid was about 6.4 million miles (10.3 million kilometers) away, or about 27 times the distance from Earth to the Moon. Credit: Arecibo Observatory/NASA/NSF
What are the Geminids?
The Geminids are caused by debris from a celestial object known as 3200 Phaethon striking Earth’s atmosphere. Phaethon’s origin is the subject of some debate. Some astronomers consider it to be an extinct comet, based on observations showing some small amount of material leaving its surface. Others argue that it has to be an asteroid because of its orbit and its similarity to the main-belt asteroid Pallas.
Tumblr media
All meteors appear to come from the same place in the sky, which is called the radiant. The Geminids appear to radiate from a point in the constellation Gemini, hence the name “Geminids.” The graphic shows the radiants of 388 meteors with speeds of 35 km/s observed by the NASA Fireball Network in December 2020. All the radiants are in Gemini, which means they belong to the Geminid shower. Credit: NASA
Why are they called the Geminids?
All meteors associated with a shower have similar orbits, and they all appear to come from the same place in the sky, which is called the radiant. The Geminids appear to radiate from a point in the constellation Gemini, hence the name “Geminids.”
Tumblr media

When is the best time to view them?
The Geminid meteor shower is active for much of December, but the peak will occur during the night of Dec. 13 into the morning of Dec. 14, 2023. Meteor rates in rural areas can be upwards of one per minute this year with minimal moonlight to interfere.
youtube
What do I need to see them?
As with all meteor showers, all you need is a clear sky, darkness, a bit of patience, and perhaps warm outerwear and blankets for this one. You don’t need to look in any particular direction, as meteors can generally be seen all over the sky. If you want to take photographs, check out these helpful tips.
Tumblr media

Do you have any advice to help me see the Geminids better?
Find the darkest place you can and give your eyes about 30 minutes to adapt to the dark. Avoid looking at your cell phone, as it will disrupt your night vision. Lie flat on your back and look straight up, taking in as much sky as possible.
Tumblr media

What will the meteors look like?
According to Bill Cooke, lead for the Meteoroid Environment Office at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, “Most meteors appear to be colorless or white, however the Geminids appear with a greenish hue. They’re pretty meteors!” Depending on the meteor’s chemical composition, the meteor will emit different colors when burned in the Earth’s atmosphere. Oxygen, magnesium, and nickel usually produce green.

something people don’t appreciate enough is the fact that different songs on midnights explore the same topics in numerous, sometimes contradictory ways. on snow on the beach, she’s scared that a new relationship might not work out; on labyrinth, she’s terrified that it might. snow on the beach also talks about the celestial forces that bring two people together; mastermind confesses that she was the force in question all along. bejeweled describes the confidence and freedom of bending the rules of a relationship; high infidelity is filled with guilt and terror for simply dancing with another guy. she takes the money on you’re on your own, kid, but she feels stifled by it on anti-hero. she ends you’re on your own, kid with inspiring words; on dear reader, she warns the audience not to listen to her advice. she burns in hell on anti-hero, but karma is her god on karma. she can face any struggle fame throws at her on you’re on your own, kid, but she’s too soft for all of it on sweet nothing. she’s a diamond and a monster on the hill at the same time. it’s almost like each story is told from multiple perspectives like the love triangle on folklore, but instead of several fictional characters, the narrators all exist in different corners of taylor’s mind.

This is Night Time, my rottmnt sona! He was made in early 2023 when rottmnt sonas were everywhere XD He's heavily based off of my celestial au turtles — Star!Leo, in particular, felt to me like he was more or less already my rottmnt sona. However, it felt strange to make an "au Leo" my sona, so I tweaked him some. Night is the embodiment of night sky and all of the celestial bodies, not just the stars. He also has his own and unique personality, and his own way of thinking (as opposed to Star!Leo, who's just regular Leo with a star theme). Night is generally pretty quiet and collected. He has the vibes of an older, formal man. He enjoys his solitude and he is not a fan of talking to other people — he enjoys being alone with his night sky. However, when he's in the presence of others... he's a bit more of a prick and an asshole XD. He's very much and introvert and has a low tolerance for bs.

The Brothers Reacting to You Messaging Your Ex
Nothing flirty/shady. Your ex is reaching out for advice (up to you on the type of advice).
(Also up to you if your ex is a demon, angel, or another human)
Lucifer:
Lucifer’s noticed you on your phone more often than usual. It’s nothing out of the blue for you to be texting, but this much?
He’s a little suspicious and more than that, he’s growing paranoid.
He knows you’d never do anything to hurt him or break his trust, but still, why are you on your phone so much and who are you texting?
Finally, when he can no longer stay silent, he corners you in his office and flat-out demands who you’re talking to.
You notice the anxious expression on his face and you feel your heart tighten in your chest. You explain that you’re in contact with an ex, and before he can panic, you quickly shut down the idea of anything scandalous going on. You explain that your ex simply needs advice for a life-changing event, and once you’re done helping them, you’d drop contact.
You can tell he isn’t delighted with the answer (can you blame him?) but he drops it, content that you’re being honest with him.
Still, expect to see sudden bouts of jealousy throughout contact with your ex until the matter is fully dead.
You might notice possessiveness from him as well, though I’m sure that’s nothing you can’t handle. ;)
Mammon:
With how glued to your side he is, you didn’t have to tell him who you were texting.
While he trusts you, that doesn’t mean he has to trust the intentions of your ex.
“Seriously, who do they think they even are? What advice is so urgent that they need the opinion of their ex?”
You try to soothe his anxiety, constantly reassuring Mammon that you’re only trying to help someone who once meant a lot to you. You even offer up your phone so he can read your messages, but he refuses, saying he trusts you.
He makes you promise dozens of times to tell him if your ex tries anything fishy though.
“Devildom, Celestial Releam, Human World- it doesn’t matter where they are. If they think they can hit on you and get away with it, they’ve got another thing comin’.”
Despite all his complaining, he’s secretly proud of you that you’d be willing to help someone that you’ve had such a complicated history with. If anything, it only solidifies his feelings for you even more. Not just anyone would be nice enough to help out an ex, but you? Well, he’s convinced you’d help anyone, even if they’ve wronged you.
Honestly, how are you so perfect?
Leviathan:
It does not go over well. At. All.
He doesn’t yell, scream, or ignore you. He just shuts down.
You told him as soon as your ex reached out for advice; you hadn’t even responded yet.
Leviathan means the world to you, and being the Avatar of Envy, you know how devastating something like this could be to his self-esteem if not gone about the right way.
You swear up and down to him until your face is blue that your ex is only asking for advice, and how you would never talk to them unless Leviathan was comfortable with the idea.
Clearly, he’s not.
Despite saying you wouldn’t respond to your ex unless Leviathan was comfortable, he mutters under his breath about how you can respond, and how he doesn’t own you or control what you do.
While he verbally agreed to it, you don’t like how he feels as though he has to.
You make a point of deleting your ex’s text, showing Leviathan in the process.
“I never want to do anything to make you uncomfortable. They can get advice from someone else if they need it that badly.”
The two of you spend the rest of the day cooped up in his bedroom, snuggled up while watching anime and playing games.
Satan:
Surprisingly, he handles it pretty well.
Satan can be level-headed when he wants to be, and when you come out and explain the situation, he doesn’t really see any need to worry.
Still, you can expect to find him at your side more than usual.
You’re also gravely mistaken if you think Satan hasn’t warned this ex of yours.
“If I find out you need anything more than advice, I will make sure you have nightmares about me for the rest of your life.”
He sends the threat from your D.D.D., deleting it afterward so that you don’t see it. He isn’t worried about your ex ratting him out however; most people tend to stay quiet after a threat from him.
If your ex had ill intentions from the start, you’ll never find out.
Unbeknownst to you, Satan has his eyes on your ex, knowing their location at all times.
Like I said, he handled it pretty well if you really think about it.
Asmodeus:
Asmodeus couldn’t really blame your ex for wanting to reach out to you. I mean, you’re such a beauty.
And to top that off, you’re dating him, and he’s also a major beauty.
Honestly, he wouldn’t be surprised if your ex was actually just trying to get close to him.
At least, that’s what he’s been telling himself to keep from panicking.
He knows he’s the most desirable demon in all the Devildom, but do you know that?
Your ex can’t actually think they can win you back, can they?
He’s been biting at his nails, that’s how stressed out he is.
You pick up the subtle signs of his distress, chipped nail polish, his hair missing its usual shine, and the slightest of bags under his eyes.
You sit him down one morning in the kitchen before the others wake, and carefully explain to Asmodeus that there’s nothing to worry about. Your ex only needs advice, and as soon as you’ve given it, you’ll end all contact.
You also promise to drop all contact if your ex makes any kind of flirtatious comment, and that seems to ease his stress a little.
“Ha, I don’t even know why I was worried in the first place. After all, how could you fall for anyone but me?”
What Asmodeus doesn’t say, is that he will hunt down your ex if they try anything. He’ll risk breaking a nail if he needs to.
Beelzebub:
Beelzebub is not one to get possessive. If anything, he’s one of the calmest out of the brothers as long as he’s eating.
He’s always trusted you, and you’ve always known him to have a level head.
So when you approach him regarding your ex, he’s surprised to find himself somewhat… bothered.
He can’t exactly word his thoughts, but he’s not happy. Far from it. He doesn’t know your ex, he has no reason to trust them, and they must be your ex for a reason.
What are their intentions? Do they really just want advice from you?
He’s startled to find himself thinking violent thoughts, wondering all the ways to cook up your ex if they try anything he doesn’t approve of.
He knows he wouldn’t really do it, but…
He sits you down before you can. He expresses his concerns and requests that you don’t communicate with your ex, even if it’s a selfish thing of him to ask.
You, just being happy that Beelzebub is for once comfortable with his feelings, oblige.
A happy Beel keeps everyone happy, after all.
Belphegor:
Belphegor shrugs it off. He really doesn’t care.
What? Did you expect him to get jealous?
Sure, he might get jealous over his brothers whenever they compete for your attention, but a total stranger? Yeah right. They’re beneath him; he has no reason to be concerned.
Belphegor is confident in his abilities to keep you happy and satisfied. He knows you don’t have a wandering eye.
This person, whoever they are, is your ex for a reason. Clearly, they must’ve fucked up somewhere down the road.
Why should he worry if they plan on stealing you back? It’s futile and he doesn’t mind watching them make a fool of themself. It’ll make for good entertainment for him to fall asleep to.
You’re a little surprised by his lack of a response, but then again, maybe you should be happy. You don’t necessarily want a homicidal Belphegor throwing a fit.
