My stepmom vented to my brother how her life is over, that no one is gonna want her once my dad is “gone” and that she’s gonna stay single forever, like he’s already dead and cold.
She’s emotionally detached and bitter about having to care for him despite being the one who manipulated him into not seeing a doctor or taking medication to at least slow down the symptoms, when there was still a chance to treat it. She had him drink chlorine and do meditation sessions instead, because she doesn’t believe in allopathy.
I worry about him a lot, he told me that everyone at home (her brother lives with them and her sister + husband visit a lot) pretty much ignores him. Isolating a person with Alzheimer’s and leaving them alone all day is the worst thing you can do to a person that’s supposed to train their mind, memory and conversational skills.
He’s in an assisted living facility 3 times per week during the day so at least he’s getting some stimulation but I feel so bad for him. Being unwanted and despised by everyone in your household, especially your wife, after years of loving her, cooking for her, writing her poetry - bending your entire being for her - is so cruel and sad.
When she was diagnosed with breast cancer he was there for her, during the good and bad times, the least she could do is give him a few dignified last years, because despite him being a lot younger than the usual person with dementia, Alzheimer’s does have an expiration date, when their bodies simply give up due to weakened immune system. 10 years of which he already passed 6.
He’s not the person we all knew, I’m his daughter, I’m painfully aware of that - but he’s alive and healthy and still there but now she hates him because he’s clingy and dependent and confused and it’s just not fair.

When Larry is a pervert, bad friend and seen as the butt of every joke.
When Klavier is depicted as a pervert and pushy in his romantic endeavors.
When Phoenix hates Klavier and avoids him.
When people don’t acknowledge that Pearls is as much of a daughter to Phoenix as Trucy.
When people don’t add Sebastian into the Miles family and only see Kay as Miles’ adopted daughter.
When people don’t add Kay to the Phoenix, Miles and Trucy family.
When people don’t add Sebastian or Apollo to the Trucy, Kay, Miles and Phoenix family.
When Franziska and Phoenix hate each other and only tolerate each other for the sake of Miles and Trucy.
When Klavier and Ema aren’t see as worsties.
When Miles is seen as not seeing Ema as a daughter either.
When people think that Phoenix doesn’t care as much about Ema as he does to all of his adopted weird girl assistants.

because geralt and his company, they saddled up, left beauclair, travelled through mountains and frozen blizzards and downpours and muddy sod for two to three months. you need to pack outfits for that. you need to plan your gear.
what was the rest of the company wearing? what did they pack for this long journey? they packed practically, dressed warmly for the frozen journey of january, february, march. geralt wore a wolf-skin cloak, a scarf, a shawl… milva wore a fox-fur kalpak, angoulême wore a hat with a pompom and a sheepskin coat. cahir’s dress isn’t mentioned, but he must have been dressed similarly, because he rubs his hands briskly together and were he not dressed warmly he otherwise would have frozen to death. regis’ dress isn’t mentioned, but it is mentioned that he’s immune to the freezing temperature. so, i mean, it doesn’t matter what he’s wearing in this scene, maybe a regular outfit.
but at stygga. dressed elegantly.
so you’re telling me that. regis packed his things in preparation for their flight from beauclair, went to his quarters after geralt explained to him the satisfactory reasons they were leaving, and went,
“alright, time to prepare for this long and dangerous journey that will conclude in a great clash between our forces and the kidnappers of ciri. the end of our quest. the final journey. and a dangerous road awaits us, with snow still blocking the passes, frost and white all around. a grand fight and conflict awaits us. what gear should i prepare, what should i wear for this expedition, what kinds of clothing should i pack.”
and then he went:
“you know, i want to look fucking good ✨ when we get there 💅🏻🦇”
imagine the final preparation before they approach castle stygga. geralt sees the castle hewn out of the cliffside, effortlessly noticing every detail from far away, seeing like an eagle with his mutated eyes. and like an eagle, compelled to swoop down and snatch vilgefortz like a fish. ordering the company forward, declaring they’ve made it. this is the moment they have all been waiting for. everyone has been waiting such a long time for this. they prepared everything.
they wait until midnight. angoulême eagerly unsheathes and whets her long sabre, swings her axe around with predatory glee. cahir fits the plate armor and winged officer’s helmet he scavenged from a small nilfgaardian dispatch that they ran into extorting caravista for tax. milva tightens the same worn, polished leather bracer that she’s always had on her left arm, and mutters as she fixes her spiralled arrow fletchings over boiling water. geralt, with nothing left to do, paces and breathes, wondering where the hell regis has gone.
just then, regis walks out from behind an outcropping of rock, eyes glinting with cat-like light, in his “elegant” outfit, absolutely slaying that shit, and all his friends look at him absently like. “what the hell are you wearing. where the fuck did you get that. you packed that? you planned your outfit for the final battle, you planned this outfit in advance three months ago?” to which he counters, “well, three months isn’t very long at all,” and they’re like, “this is the preparation you made? we thought you left to do some secret vampire rituals or whatever. or to reckon with yourself for the severe violence we’re about to inflict.” and he’s like “no, i just wanted to make sure i was dressed nicely for the occasion”

One of my pet peeves lately has been people forgetting that eccentric rich people have always existed and always do stupid shit with their money that never actually takes off.
No, a tech startup that would "let people keep working via lucid dreaming" is not a sign of something something oncoming capitalist hellscape. You've legitimately lost the plot if you think the average person would think that's a good idea worth pursuing. Just because some rich idiot made it doesn't mean that's a sign of things to come.
I do partially blame the sensationalist clickbait articles about these startups. Like people should know better anyway, but now these ideas are reported on as serious innovations. It used to be news articles about the exploits of eccentric rich people were basically a "Get A Load Of This Guy Cam."

Random TGCF AU of the day:
Space-time shenanigans result in main canon He Xuan wandering into an AU where the fate swap didn’t happen.
He ascends as a civil god, and is doing quite well for himself, only his presence has unexpected ramifications for a few people
SWD can no longer save his brother via fate swap. He is not giving up obviously and will find another way no matter who he has to screw over (though HX would really really like it if he didn’t screw someone else over thank you very much), but in the meantime he is very much devoted to keeping his little brother safe and under control.
A necessity probably given that this little brother is an anxious mess afraid of his own shadow, with only shades of the bright determined Shi Qingxuan of the main timeline. He’s got all the comfort and wealth he could ever need and zero sense of confidence or independence.
Also different is the new civil god Ling Wen. She’s closed off and unpopular and may or may not be responsible for some sabotage He Xuan keeps encountering. Oh well it’s nothing to worry about. With dwindling followers she’s well on her way out anyway…
