Creating a Thematic Bard
Tumblr media
Through Bardic Magical Secrets, any Bard can pick up any 6-8 spells of their choosing depending on their subclass. I thought I’d go through some thematic options for a Bard to choose from to cater to different themes and archetypes the Bard aspires to do. For each, I will offer the 8 spells I would recommend if you were to play as a Lore Bard, and if you pick a different subclass, just elimate two of the options.

And of course, you can always mix and match. Going for a Fire Dragon theme? Mix the Pyrodancer and A Dance of Dragons spell lists. As an example:
LOVE AMONG THE DRAGONS 6th Dragon’s Breath, Fireball 10th Flame Strike, Summon Draconic Spirit 14th Investiture of Flame, Draconic Transformation 18th Illusory Dragon, Meteor Swarm
These are all the bard themes I could think of, but if you can think of some more that I missed, or have better suggestions for some of my choices, let me know your own thematic magical secrets builds. Obviously, these were made with the Lore Bard in mind, since it gets the most magical secrets, but I’m sure some synergize better with other bard types, such as Song of War with the College of Valor. I just used Lore as the default. How well do these magical secrets builds work for you?

Welcome to level 13, Bad Kids!
The stress of escaping Baron and the nightmare briefcase Mordred Manor has boosted the Bad Kids up to level 13! Let's take a look at what's new. (And if you're curious about what they did for levels 11 and 12, I've got you covered!)
Adaine: Wizard 13. She learns two new spells, which can now be 1st-7th level, and gets a 7th-level spell slot (in addition to the new spells she got in her downtime). We know one of these spells is Plane Shift! She has a bunch of options, and some of them are nasty, so I'm very excited to see what's in store. She can also now prepare 18 spells a day (previously 17).
Fabian: Fighter 6/Bard 7 (was Fighter 6/Bard 6). He learns a new spell, which can now be 1st-4th level, and gets a 4th-level spell slot. Options for him include Freedom of Movement, Dimension Door, Greater Invisibility, and Polymorph, among others.
Fig: Bard 10/Paladin 2/Warlock 1 (was Bard 9/Paladin 2/Warlock 1). She learns a new bard cantrip, gets a 6th-level spell slot, gains expertise (double proficiency bonus) in two skills, her Bardic Inspiration goes from a d8 to a d10, and she gains Magical Secrets--she can learn two spells (1st-6th level) from any class list!
Gorgug: Barbarian 6/Artificer 7 (was Barbarian 6/Artificer 6). He gets a third 2nd-level spell slot, as well as Flash of Genius, which lets him use a reaction to add his intelligence modifier (+3) to any ability check or saving throw made by him or by a creature within 30 feet of him. He can do this 3 times a day (equal to his intelligence modifier). We already saw him offer to use it this episode!
Kristen: Cleric 13. She gets a 7th-level spell slot and access to 7th level spells! These include Plane Shift (which we've already seen both her and Adaine use), Fire Storm, Resurrection, and Conjure Celestial, plus a few more. She can also now prepare 18 spells a day (previously 17).
Riz: Rogue 13. His sneak attack damage increases from 6d6 to 7d6, he gets two 3rd-level spell slots, and he can learn a new 1st-3rd level Enchantment or Illusion wizard spell. He also gains Versatile Trickster, which allows him to use a bonus action to distract a creature with his Mage Hand cantrip and gain advantage on attacks against them until the end of his turn.
Everyone's HP goes up and they get another hit die, but biggest at level 13 (total class level, not individual, so our multiclass kids aren't left out) is an increase to their proficiency bonus! Everyone's proficient skills, attack rolls, saving throws, and save DCs go up by one. For those of you enjoying Reliable Talent, this means Riz's minimum stealth roll is now a 25. My god.
Hope you enjoyed, see you next time, and as always please let me know if I’ve missed anything!

This is petty but that's never stopped me.
Tumblr media
In the Vox Machina campaign, Scanlan Shorthalt's resounding success in matters of tactics [this post isn't about roleplaying] was partly due to Sam Riegel's skill, and mostly due to the fact that 5e Bards are just that good. However! The "gnome bard" combo was famously chosen by Liam, after Sam, who'd never played d&d before, asked what's the silliest, least powerful and least badass thing he could play. That was his character concept. And at the time, Liam was not wrong to answer "bard". In 3rd Edition/Pathfinder, Bards DID suck, at least out of the box. You could build a strong Bard in Pathfinder, but you had to optimise to high heavens with carefully selected feats and spells and items from various sources. It didn't just happen spontaneously, and it was still nowhere near the raw power and versatility of a Wizard or Druid. Bards played support.
So at lvl 9, they started streaming and switched from Pathfinder to D&D 5e. Scanlan got an ENORMOUS power boost at that point, but Sam was still harbouring under the impression that his chosen class is not powerful or badass at all. And as they kept playing and he kept killing it (he was brilliant at it, no doubt about that!), he presumed that he was killing it with one hand tied behind his back, because he was just a silly little gnome bard. And, he emphatically wasn't silly. He was a whole-ass full caster, top tier class right there.
Pathfinder Bards are half-casters. If they hadn't switched to 5e, Scanlan wouldn't have access to 7th and higher level spells: no Mordenkeinen's Magnificent Mansion (a signature spell), no Dominate Monster (this is how he made the goristro fight Vorugal), no Reverse Gravity (big moment in the first Ripley fight), and no Wish (kind of a big deal!). Other spells aren't in the Bard list, and there's no Magical Secrets in Pathfinder: he wouldn't have access to Bigby's Hand (another signature spell), Otiluke's Resilient Sphere (how he got rid of the efrit, and Ripley), Lightning Bolt and Stinking Cloud (his standard damage spells), Polymorph (that's several giant eagles including the "now smarter" Grog (this will never stop being funny), and of course the legendary triceratops), or Counterspell (kind of an enormous deal). And all the other spells would have come later: no Seeming at lvl 11 = no cows. (What a loss! No cows!)
And it's not just access to spells, it's also "likelihood of spells to work", which depends on the DC, which in Pathfinder depended on spell level. Lower level spells had a lower chance of doing anything, by virtue of being easier to resist. And half-casters got a slower spell progression, and ended up with significantly less power overall. Whereas in 5e spell level is irrelevant, spell DCs depend on your character level, and that's that. Even (Bardic) Inspiration got a boost from the switch. All in all, we're talking about a spectacular upgrade.
So a tragic misconception happened: Sam got it into his head that he's so good at d&d that he can gimp himself and still kick ass. Well, he can't.
When he played a Rogue (no big spells, huh? no cheat sheet!) he sucked at it and he hated it. And now that he plays a Cleric and actually, actively gimps himself (he said in a 4-Sided Dive that he deliberately avoids cleric spells that others have used before in CR, which by now is most of them, and certainly the best of them), he very predictably sucks at it too (I mean relatively speaking; it's still a full caster), and he doesn't love it. The one time he was BRILLIANT was when he had a top tier class to work with, and used it to its full potential. But he thought he was gimping himself, because he was thinking of a different game/edition than the one he was playing!
I wanna grab him by the shoulders and shake him up and say my good man, you gotta stop this "I gimp myself" -> "I fail to kick ass" -> *surprised pikachu face*. CHOOSE. Either gimp yourself and accept you won't be kicking any ass, but it's okay because you enjoy roleplaying someone like that more than you enjoy kicking ass, OR stop gimping yourself and kick ass, because you do enjoy kicking ass, don't you?
Both are great! I approve either way! But choose.
I also wanna grab Liam by the shoulders and tell him "Wizard or Sorcerer! For the love of all that's green and good in this world, next time Sam asks you what class to play in D&D, tell 'im Wizard or Sorcerer!". But then I remember that next time they'll probably play Daggerheart and not D&D unless WotC makes them an offer they can't refuse, so the whole thing is moot.

[Teen Sprig and Maddie knock on Ivy’s door before being pulled in by Ivy]
Sprig: Whoa! What’s the big deal? Why’d you call us over so suddenly?
Ivy: I think I’ve figured it out. The worst secret in all of Wartwood, no, all of Amphibia! It took months of investigation, undercover work, digging through my mom’s stuff, making underhanded deals in the Bizarre Bazaar, seeking Dark Magic and asking Chuck but I’ve come to the only conclusion…
[Ivy flips a chalkboard revealing a conspiracy board with all the string going to a picture of One-Eyed Wally]
Ivy: One-Eyed Wally is my dad!
Maddie: Oof…you have my sympathy, Ives.
Ivy: Thanks, Madds. I of course don’t want to believe it but all of the evidence points to it and I’m 99% sure.
Sprig: Have you asked your mom and possible dad?
Ivy: Wally doesn’t know and my Mom never talks about it. Probably too embarrassed about having a kid with that bardic hobo. But once I present all of my evidence, my mom will have to tell me the truth or she’ll have me live my life thinking Wally is my dad.
Sprig: Well at least your grandpa’s rich then.
Ivy & Maddie: ……………………what?……………

god i’m so obsessed w Delloso de la Rue and yeah, I’ll say it: they’re right about everything
I think discussions I’ve seen about Rue’s position of “privilege” often fail to contend with the fact that Rue experiences this world as a kidnapping victim. Rue is not an archfey. They were taken from the mortal world as a young child. From what we’ve seen about how Wanessa is treated like an oddity/fascination, we can guess that Rue was treated much the same. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Rue became a party planner—when you are brought to a world as entertainment, I suspect you grow up terrified of what might happen if you stop being entertaining.
Rue has existed on the outskirts of the Court of Wonder for years. Forced (whether literally or just by social pressure) to wear a glamor—scared of anyone even touching their HAND for fear of being found out. Do you think Rue has ever danced at the Blooms they’ve spent millennia planning, or was this year the first time?
Claiming Rue is oblivious to the plight of other, lesser fey ignores the fact that Rue is ultimately a worker—not a true aristocrat like the Lords of the Wing. They have a job—they plan the Bloom. Yes, they have political power, but not due to being high-born or playing the political game or all that; they have political power because they’re popular, because they dedicated themself to the happiness of others for millennia, connecting people of different courts together, bringing people love and joy. And I doubt they even realize just how powerful they are, because they spend most of their time away from their court, planning a fucking party.
Everyone calls them the “pride” of a court they barely see. They are assumed to speak for them, even when they are speaking their own mind. Of course they have no loyalty to the Court system. Of course they don’t see the point in anything except love—love they themself have been robbed of, were stolen away from. Rue’s bardic inspiration is a song they remember from the mortal plane. Isn’t it telling that even thousands of years later, their magic—magic, which Andhera and Binx both describe as stemming from love—comes from that faded memory of home?
Yes, it’s a bummer that Rue’s actions caused Hob’s victories to be undermined a bit, but honestly? Why should we really care about the political advancement of the Goblin Court’s aristocracy, who have shown they are exactly the same as the Court of Wonder in their treatment of their subordinates (Hob standing away from the campfire, just as Rue is kept in a tower for months out of the year)? Rue might have hurt Hob by hiding the truth, but that doesn’t mean they’re wrong when they urge him to take care of himself, to abandon his loyalty to a system that won’t reward him for it. That’s not Rue being naive or privileged—that’s Rue being exactly like Hob, a servant of their court who toiled tirelessly for years, sacrificing their own happiness, only to just now realize how pointless it all was.
And honestly, on the more political side, Rue probably saved everyone’s asses by breaking up the marriage between Grabalba and Apollo. Apollo would for sure have used the Goblins’ military might to accelerate his plans of stealing the magic. And then, once that was achieved, do you really think he would have honored his agreements with the Goblin Court? He’s the kind of dishonorable man who tried to murder Hob in secret. You’re telling me he wouldn’t have double crossed them once he got what he wanted? Why would he give a shit about a political marriage?
Like, for real: why would Apollo want to marry Grabalba? We know the Goblin Court’s status would be MASSIVELY elevated by this union, but what advantage does the Court of Wonder gain from marrying into the Goblin Court? It was all military—another power grab by Wonder. Rue broke it up and probably saved the fey realm in the process.
And now they could lose someone they really love over it.

OC Kiss Week - day 2
@knight-commander I decided Emery needs a little more bardic magic in his life 💜
“So you’re the one who’s been spoiling my horse,” Emery frowns.
The bard offers up the last of the apple and wipes horse spit on his absurd striped trousers. “Guilty as charged, Your Hellishness. I suppose I’ll have to give myself a paper cut and pour lemon juice on it now?”
Emery’s frown deepens. Reckoning jokes are wildly inappropriate.
Worse, as he approaches his mount, Mánath snorts and turns his head away, making it crystal clear where his loyalty now lies.
The bard is wearing that charming, infuriating smile.
Though half a head shorter and at present regrettably unbedecked in his imposing black armor, Knight-Commander Emery squares off with him. “Will you please stop undermining my—everything?”
To his surprise Siavash backs down. “I’m sorry. I’m not trying to undermine you, really. Just trying to cheer things up around here a little.”
Emery pushes the dark hair from his brow in frustration. “This is a Crusade against the Abyss. It behooves one to take certain things seriously.”
“Like oneself?”
Emery’s mouth opens and closes. “I beg your pardon?”
“You! You take yourself too seriously, Armiger.” Siavash isn’t smiling anymore.
“Are you telling me I’d look better if I smiled more often? Because so help me—”
“No. You look—you look stunning with a perpetual frown and tragic circles under your eyes.”
Emery stares in confusion. It doesn’t sound like he’s joking but there must be a punch line, because there always is with him. His heart suddenly feels even heavier as the secret hope that had been making it more buoyant these past weeks evaporates.
“I mean that,” Siavash says, even more confusingly.
Emery is paralyzed by the expectation of a flippant jab that never seems to arrive.
Siavash goes on, gently, “But I would like to see you smile more.”
“Well,” Emery breathes, unable to meet his gaze all of a sudden, “what’s your plan of action, soldier?”
“Everything I’ve tried so far has backfired, Knight-Commander.”
Though Emery’s eyes are steadfastly locked on his own boots he’s aware of Siavash’s proximity from the softness of his voice as he goes on: “I’m hoping for some tactical advice.”
Suddenly Emery finds his hand cupped between the bard’s. It is raised, and warm lips are pressed to it.
Emery smiles.

Mad Maddy Maddison
Tumblr media
“Eccentric Jester” © London Workman, accessed at their ArtStation here
[This is one of many iterations of my “goth clown” persona, tailored to a low level game and with more emphasis on the clown. I created her for a freeform game run by @abominationimperatrix, which we haven’t gone back to yet. I do hope to. The Harley Quinn influence is very much intentional.]
Mad Maddy Maddison CR 3 CG Humanoid (dark folk) Clad in mismatched and brightly colored jester’s motley, this tiny woman is thin, muscular and pretty. At first glance she might appear to be wearing stage makeup, but her gray skin and black lips are their natural color.
Mad Maddy Maddison has had a very complicated and strange life already in her nineteen years, and is excited to see what happens next. She was born to a clan of dark folk living in the Darklands beneath the Brazen Peaks, and the caligni callers selected for her to be a dancer, one of the dark folk who act as intermediaries between settlements. Unfortunately, that meant that her wanderlust started at a very early age, and she managed to get separated from her family. She was found and given a home, but unfortunately it was by Mater Cachinnarum, the Mother of Sneers. This wicked bogeywoman pops up in nightmares throughout eastern Garund, and tried to raise Maddy to do the same. Even though Maddy was raised by Cachinnarum for a solid decade, she held true to her overall sense of kindness and good humor, and escaped by the grace of Cayden Cailean, who has a soft spot for all orphans and runaways.
Maddy made it to the bustling city of Katapesh where she currently works at the Night Circus, an entertainment troupe in the Night Markets. At the Circus, she is a talented juggler, percussionist, clown and occasional pickpocket. Her favored instruments are the zills. Maddy has a fascination with death and the undead, having been surrounded by ghouls and skeletons in Mater Cachinnarum’s care, and she is learning how to affect them with her magical music. She’s also working on making friends, something she’s never had a lot of. Her closest friend is a flumph named Taktii, who has given dire warnings about monsters in space. Maddy currently finds this concept more intriguing than scary.
Maddy stands a whole two and a half feet tall and carries a club as long as she is tall. She has a caffeine addiction, and rarely goes a day without several cups of coffee.

The foe must succeed at a DC 12 Will saving throw to resist the effects. Creatures that fail the saving throw take a –2 penalty on all Dexterity and Charisma-based skill checks. This curse is permanent, but the victim of this curse can attempt a new saving throw each day. Death Throes (Su) When a dark dancer is slain, its body combusts in a flash of bright white light, leaving its gear in a heap on the ground. All creatures within a 10-foot burst must succeed at a DC 13 Fortitude save or be dazzled for 1d6 rounds. Other dark folk within 20 feet must succeed at a DC 13 Will save or be shaken for 1 round. The save DC is Constitution-based. Haunted Eyes (Ex) Maddy gains a +4 bonus on saves against fear, energy drain, death effects, and necromantic effects. Secrets of the Grave (Ex) Maddy gains a bonus equal to half her bard level on Knowledge (religion) checks made to identify undead creatures and their abilities. A dirge bard may use mind-affecting spells to affect undead as if they were living creatures, even if they are mindless (though spells that affect only humanoids do not affect them, even if they were humanoids in life). In addition, she may add one necromancy spell from the spell list of any arcane spellcasting class to her list of spells known at 2nd level and every four levels thereafter.

How would you imagine the Wild Kratts crew if they where witches from the Boiling Isle
I was really wanting to draw my answer to this question but that would take me a while so-
The Kratt brothers would absolutely be wild witches. No covens to hold them down, living free and in the Boiling Isles. While they have access to so many different kinds of magic, they mainly specialize in beast-keeping, befriending and caring for the beasts that roam. But they both have their own individual talents; Chris is quite powerful when it comes to plant magic, and Martin is just as skilled in bardic magic as he is in keeping magical creatures.
As for their palismans, Martin’s might resemble Zippy the draco lizard, or maybe an aquatic animal? Maybe a basilisk lizard. And Chris’s would be something reminiscent of Lost & Found the red panda.
Aviva, Koki, and Jimmy are another story, however.
While they are all friends, they used to butt heads like mountain goats when they first met, and not in a good way. They still do every now and again, because the brothers and their crew come from completely different world.
Starting with Jimmy, I’d say he’d be from the Potions coven, but the most he uses potions for is a secret ingredient in his baking or to help himself sleep when he can’t do so on his own. I kinda imagine him suffering from mild insomnia.
He’s not very involved in the hands-on part of adventuring with his wild witch buddies, but he tries. Sometimes, though, he ends up just hiding in the bushes and watching the brothers cuddle up to whatever beast they come across in that moment.
I’d say his palisman would be a rabbit-like creature, cuz he literally took a nap with baby bunnies in the Easter episode 🥺
Koki would either be from the Healing or Construction coven; maybe construction because she is a mechanic/engineer. Hardworking, loyal and the glue that keeps the team from ripping each other to shreds.
Her palisman might be something like a fox, maybe? Cunning and quick, like her.
And Aviva? Well…
Aviva would be one of two Coven Heads for the Emperor’s coven, an unknown to the people of the Isles. (Consider it being pre-Luz’s adventures/the finale lol). She’s mainly handle internal affairs and oversee the training for the recruits, under the guise of being just another scout. She’d be the Emperor’s eyes and ears around the city in the form of a normal everyday witch, with her coven seal hidden by long fingerless gloves.
Her palisman would be a jaguar-like creature, strong and sleek and clever.
I definitely wanna continue this idea now cuz I love this

Prestige Class Spotlight 13: Aspis Agent
Tumblr media
(art by LoranDeSore on DeviantArt)
Ah, the Aspis Consortium, an organization in the Lost Omens setting as insidious as they are greedy. With a mission statement that can be boiled down to “Make a Profit no Matter the Cost”, this organization is every bit of every bad thing about a worldview centered around money. Exploitation, theft, smuggling, slavery… If it can make them money, the Consortium will take advantage of it, all while maintaining the veil of goodwill through charitable works that are in the end infinitesimally tiny compared to the profit the organization makes exploiting the very people they’re supposedly caring for.
Remind you of anything in real life?
While the villainous and underhanded side of the Aspis Consortium can make them suitable antagonists for nearly any campaign, the most likely branch of the Consortium that members of the Pathfinder Society are likely to run into would be their agents. These explorers and plunderers seek out the same sort of ancient sites that the Society is interested in, but purely for the purpose of acquiring the relics within to either keep for personal power or sell to buyers without a thought or care about the impact they cause by doing so, be it disrupting sites held sacred by the locals or outright curses and magical traps on the relics they seek.
Which isn’t to say that the Aspis won’t have their field agents also participate in more domestic crimes as well, of course, but their training focuses on tomb robbing first and foremost.
Which is where this archetype comes into play. While primarily meant for villains, it can also be used for villainous protagonists in evil games, or even by former Aspis members who became (or are becoming), more heroic.
And outside the Lost Omens setting, this archetype could be quite useful for representing a character that is a professional temple delver, particularly one that often has to fight off other expeditions as well.
Delving into this training requires a whole suite of skills revolving around deceit and dungeon delving, as well as basic training with a whip and either keen senses honed around noticing traps or the ability to cast magic that reveals secret doors. The whip training in particular is due to the weapon being a signature combat style of the Aspis Consortium for it’s ability to cause nonlethal pain and control the battlefield.
True to their roguish talents, these agents learn the art of recognizing and avoiding traps if they don’t already have it, and improving upon their skills if they do.
Periodically as they grow in mastery, these agents pick up little tricks or improvements as they grow, drawing upon a short list.
Some stand fearlessly against larger beings and prove shockingly imposing against them, while others learn various advanced combat techniques ranging from setting up traps, using combat maneuvers, and even turning a whip into a deadly weapon. Others learn to ward their thoughts against intrusion so that foes only learn the thoughts they want them to know, while others with bardic training continue that to gain new and better performances. Some learn the art of concealing small objects and can even suppress their magic, which others still learn how to continue their bardic, inquisitor, or mesmerist training into spellcasting. Others learn techniques associated with rogues, while others learn enough magic to shrink an item down for easy carrying and concealment. Some who are also vigilantes can learn an additional technique for their social or vigilante identities.
They also learn how to conceal their aura so that magic that senses particular moralities fail to reveal anything. Later on, they can sense such attempts and even later provide a false aura in case their detection is sophisticated enough to sense all moral alignments.
Not content to merely bypass the traps they find, these tomb breakers learn how to rig both traps they’ve disabled or set up personally so that they can trigger them with a touch. After all, such ingenious mechanisms shouldn’t go to waste, whether they be used against rival delvers or particularly dull denizens. Later on, they can even trigger these traps from a distance with a deftly thrown rock or a nearly-invisible pullcord.
These agents also learn the art of striking for vulnerable points as a rogue would, or improving upon that skill.
Aspis agents know how to throw off the game of others, letting them demoralize or feint foes with clever words. Better yet, they can set such things up days in advance, calling back to a throwaway statement made days ago that sheds it in a new light and leaves a foe infuriated or reeling.
This prestige class certainly points the character in the direction of being the snarky rival archaeologist or treasure hunter, but the fact you can customize it to better suit several different base classes is a real boon. Not having true spellcasting increases is disappointing, forcing you to rely on the more roguish aspects of the class, and as such, your spellcasting choices will likely be built with that in mind, focusing more on buffs and utility than damage or debuffs. Still, this class can be a veritable bag of tricks, ranging from better casting to weaponizing and building portable traps, to performing all sorts of combat and utility tricks with a whip.
In the hands of an antagonist, this archetype can be quite effective for giving an adventure a villain or even recurring villain that isn’t inherent to the dungeon itself, which has the dual benefit of expanding the world and also give your villains and bosses somewhere to be that isn’t behind the final door. In the hands of a protagonist, however, it can a great way to have a morally dubious character in your game, or even a penitent one using their talents for good. Heck, aside from the lore there’s no reason this can’t be used with a swashbuckling hero that isn’t afraid to fight dirty to defeat evil.
Though most shabti, those beings created as surrogate souls to take the burden the souls of the wealthy after death, have a healthy respect for the dead and the world beyond due to how they are rescued form their fate by the psychopomps, not all feel this way. Some are bitter indeed for the cultures that invented the process of creating them to suffer in place of wicked rulers. Such is the case with Nayobi, who has become a professional tomb robber, not just for the riches  therein, but to rob the dead she blames for her creation and suffering of their dignity.
For a month, the party has been racing against their rivals from tomb and ruin site trying to find the clues to the temple of the Horizon Eye, and they’ve both finally made it. However, the fight that erupts threatens to activate the Eye itself, a complex and powerful portal mechanism, and it’s guardian, a Lhaksharut inevitable!
The greedy often say that everyone has a price, that anyone will do anything if the reward is great enough. However, the counterargument is that there are lines that some people will not cross. Such was the case when the relic hunter Miriam Albrax learned what her employers planned to do with a dark relic she had procured, going into hiding as a hermit in one of the oldest forests in the world, watching over the relic with trap and forest ally alike.

what dnd classes would the m6 be do you think
Excellent question. So, I think the game devs have answered this a couple different times, once here and then they posted some D&D character sheets on their gumroad. But I still have my own opinions of what I think they might be, so here we go!
Asra: Sorcerer
Sorcerer's draw from inherent magic either through a gift or lineage in their official description. Given that Asra comes from a family of magicians, I think this would be a fitting class for him.
High charisma, Asra is rather charming and eloquent, witty and confident. Quiet and enigmatic, sly and mischievous.
Nadia: Wizard (or Artificer)
Based off of classic dnd, I'd say Nadia would work well as a wizard. She is highly intelligent and scholarly. I could see her faring well with spells and learning new ones when she can.
But if we were to go based off of some of the later additions, Artificer would be a really cool class for her given her proficiency with inventing mechanical devices.
Julian: Bard
Julian would have a blast as a bard. He plays the vielle, he's got a quick wit. I would pay good money to see what sorts of quips he could come up with in a pinch. High charisma.
I could also see him faring well as a rogue, but his energy is just so bardic to me.
Portia: Rogue
Portia knows all the ins-and-outs of the Vesuvian palace. I think she'd do well as a rogue. Her mischievous nature would play nicely into the role.
She can keep a secret like no one else. I think she'd be a really fun and upbeat rogue.
Muriel: Druid/Fighter
I feel like for Muriel's story arc, he'd start out as an unwilling fighter and excel with his great strength.
But in his heart, I think Muriel is a druid. His love of animals and nature would work very well with the class. I think it would be neat if he could take animal form as well, perhaps as a bear.
Lucio: Fighter
Lucio grew up in the harshness of the South in a warrior tribe. I think he'd fair well as a fighter.
He'd be proficient in weaponry and fighting, high athletics, rather dexterous. Not much skill with magic, but able to use some minor cantrips.
Thank you for your question! My inbox is always open to questions and comments. I love getting them, so I truly appreciate you dropping in to ask this :) The BG3 and Arcana obsessions are real and chronically part of my personality now, so I was delighted to get this.

How to Play as Bugs Bunny in DnD 5e
Tumblr media
That’s right, today we’re building the epic icon of Bugs Bunny. As the star of Looney Tunes, I could think of nobody better to start with than Bugs Bunny. Now, Bugs has a lot of tricks up his sleeve. He’s a master of disguise, misdirection, manipulation, he can pull items out of the hammerspace behind his back, and defy the laws of physics. So, clearly Bugs is some kind of all-powerful trickster. But how do we build him?
Tumblr media
For his race, Bugs is a Harengon, a type of rabbitfolk from the feywild. We’ll give him +2 CHA, +1 DEX. As a Harengon, Bugs is a Fey type creature immune to the effects of spells like Charm Person and Hold Person that specify a humanoid target. He also gains proficiency with Perception, adds his proficiency bonus to his initiative rolls, add a d4 to a failed DEX saving throw, and jump five feet times his proficiency bonus.
For his background, Bugs is most famous for his ability to pull things over on unsuspecting maroons. We’ll label him as a Charlatan. Now, why is he not a Performer? Because Charlatans get automatic proficiency with the Disguise Kit. If there’s anything he’s known for, it’s his disguises.
In terms of Alignment, Bugs tap dances on the border between Chaotic Good and Chaotic Neutral.
Tumblr media
BARD COLLEGE OF CREATION
Bugs is undeniably a Bard. He has a long history as a Vaudeville type performer, even canonically being a famous performer in numerous cartoons. In one, his gags with Elmer Fudd even began as a comedy routine they performed on stage, and later evolved to make them a famous comedy duo. In others, he’s a famous celebrity famed for his career in show business. So, he’s definitely a Bard. But, what College? Well, that would be the college of creation. They can create musical notes that attack people, they can pull items out of nowhere, which by 14th level can be Huge items,  they can animate objects around them like some old black-and-white cartoon from the 20s or 30s, and by late game, he can make multiple items at once. As a Bard, we get any three skills, and we’ll take Performance, Persuasion, and Stealth.
Tumblr media
Name: Bugs Bunny Race: Harengon Background: Charlatan Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
STATS STR 8 DEX 20 CON 12 INT 12 WIS 14 CHA 20
SAVING THROWS STR -1 DEX +11 CON +1 INT +1 WIS +2 CHA +11
HP: 123 AC: 15 PB: +6 SDC: 19 SAB: +11 PP: 24 Initiative: +11 Bardic Inspiration: (5) 1d12
SKILLS Deception (+17) Perception (+14) Performance (+11) Persuasion (+17) Sleight of Hand (+17) Stealth (+11)
Tumblr media
SPELLS
C Friends, Mage Hand, Minor Illusion, Prestidigitation, Vicious Mockery 1 Charm Person, Command, Disguise Self, Silvery Barbs, Tasha’s Hideous Laughter 2 Mirror Image, Enthrall, Gift of Gab, Suggestion 3 Antagonize (UA), Dispel Magic 4 Charm Monster, Confusion, Polymorph 5 Dream, Geas, Mislead 6 Mass Suggestion, Otto’s Irresistible Dance 7 Teleport (how he often ends up in the wrong place) 8 Glibness 9 True Polymorph
BARDIC MAGICAL SECRETS 10th Counterspell, Fly 14th Fabricate, Creation 18th Contingency, Reverse Gravity
Tumblr media
WHY NOT ROGUE?
Some may wonder why I didn’t even consider the Rogue for Bugs Bunny. After all, Rogue does have some useful features. Uncanny Dodge and Evasion go a long way to make Bugs as slippery as he is, and that’s a good point. They also get another skill, giving him the chance to pick up Insight proficiency. Sneak Attack bonus also lets Bugs capitalize on his sneaky underhanded tactics. But, there’s a good reason why I chose Bard. Firstly, Arcane Trickster Rogues work off Intelligence, and Bugs is not book smart. He’s a wise guy and a charmer, but one of his common running gags is mispronouncing common sayings, like saying maroon instead of moron. Arcane Tricksters are also cut off at the 4th level, cutting Bugs off from great spells like Creation and Mislead, which go so well with his tactics. Any other type of rogue doesn’t get any spells, which deviates from where Bugs Bunny shines as a DnD Character.
Tumblr media
Bugs is a character I’ve wanted to build for a while. I was going to do him when the Harengon came out, and then I just kind of forgot and left him sitting on a backburner. But he can do everything I would hope for. He’s clever, charming, and most importantly of all, great at manipulating people without outright brainwashing them. Just exploiting their stupidity. And since the Bard of Creation can create just about anything out of thin air, it really lets the player let their imagination run wild. Let’s see how intimidating Strahd is after he’s had an anvil dropped on his head.

Glad I took a final look around, bc there's a whole chest of letters (loabeled "Chest of Grateful Words") and some Baldur's Mouth Gazettes pinned up on a board.
Various fun newspaper headlines first:
Tumblr media
"Fresh Stock: An Interview with the New Master of Ramazith's Tower"
"Thorm's Army Dispersed from Baldurian Borders"
"Report: Stone Lord Killed by Beloved Ranger"
"Harpers Out of Hiding: Secretive Sect Step Forward to Aid City"
"Almond Cakes of Avernus: Elturian Refugees - and Owners of City's Newest Cafe - Share Their Recipe"
"Site of Foundry Blast Still Sectioned Off, Says Fist"
"New Waveservant at Umberlee's Temple: No Leads on Desecration"
"Ravengard Returned to Full Strength"
"Gondians Disband: 'Gond's Time Has Come and Gone'" (A/N: Bongle will be pleased. 🙄)
"Duke Stelmane's Murderer Still at Large"
"Planar Pains: City Caught in Center of Githyanki War?"
"Volothamp Geddarm's Guide to Baldur's Gate: Bard Seeks Contributors to Newest Edition"
"Last Holdout Cultists Cleared from Temple of Bhaal"
"Iron Throne Wreckage Continues to Block Shipping Lanes, Complain Merchants"
"Settles Bound for Lands Upriver Amid Claims Curse is Lifted"
"Business Boom - Take Your Troubles to the House of Grief"
"Witnesses Encounter Vampire Spawn - And Live to Tell the Tale"
"Six Months Since the Assassination of Archduke Gortash"
"Small Sun: Tour New District Built by Elturian Refugees"
"New Bardic School, Tiefling Founder, Secures Upper City Funding" (A/N: AHHHHH Go Alfira Go! :D )
"Jannath House to Host Evening of Art and Culture, Celebrating Salvation of City"
"Monument Planned for Heroes of the High Hall"
I love all of this. :D
Also a quick side note because I need to shout out my favorite bit of the ambient dialogue in the camp - everyone has been making random comments the whole night, but every once in a while, Shadowheart comments: "Withers has a keen eye for a nice vintage. Why were we scrounging in barrels and crates for supplies when he could source these? Gods, I remember one evening we had to eat fourteen apples, some fish heads, and a stale loaf of bread just to get by."
lolololol <3
On to the letters!
"Official Guild Letter":
Tumblr media
Aw. :)
----
Tumblr media
Wehhhhhhh. <3 I'm glad we got you free of the curse, Art. Poor guy.
-----
Tumblr media
Hector still hates you, Valeria, and this isn't helping.
-----
Tumblr media
Atta boy, Mr. Duke.
-----
Tumblr media
I'm assuming Beard Man is Elminster. :D Excellent. I think Hector probably has Gale keep an ear to the ground on how she's doing; the whole group felt very protective of Arabella.
-----
Tumblr media
Oh, shut up.
-----
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[incredibly loud squinting from Hector] You are so FUCKING creepy, ma'am. And if you come anywhere near Astarion again, by the way, Hector will kill you (if Astarion doesn't do so first).
-----
Tumblr media
Aw. I'm glad they were able to find some kind of stability, even though there was no real good outcome to that situation. :(
-----
Tumblr media
Florriiiiiiiiiiick. <3 She's so cool. I wanna be Florrick when I grow up.
-----
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is kind of sweet actually. Growth for everyone.
-----
Tumblr media
EEEEEEEE :D I love this so much. She deserved such a good ending and she got it. (Though people KEEP putting Hector's names on things; I think he's giving up on fighting against notoriety. XD )
-----
Tumblr media
HI DAMMON! Hector definitely makes sure Karlach sends him a super nice letter bringing him up to date. He's a saint in their eyes, made it possible for them to be together at all.
-----
Tumblr media
Hee. Elminster turned out to be interestingly nuanced in terms of Gale's storyline; he didn't really seem to approve of how Mystra was treating Gale, but also wanted to toe the party line of the goddess of magic. Hector's a smidge skeptical of him as a result. But good to hear he and Gale are still on good terms.
-----
Tumblr media
<3 If Nocture eventually decides to leave the Sharrans, and Shadowheart goes to help her, Hector would absolutely be there to help as well.
-----
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Eyyyy, Voss. I love this because he greets Hector with the title "She'lak", which means 'benevolent burden' (a term for a do-gooder hero), which I already headcanoned was what Lae'zel calls Hector. So she's got Voss doing it too, which absolutely makes Hector smile.
-----
Tumblr media
Aw. Hope seems to be doing okay. <3 As okay as she can be under the circumstances at least.
@writer86 pointed out to me that the House of Hope would make perfect sense as a regular headquarters for Hector and Karlach and Wyll; I think they probably go there pretty regularly for time to rest and recuperate.
-----
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Aw, Mayrina gets a happy ending! This is great! She didn't end up naming her son after Hector after all though lol. Which he's fine with tbh.
-----
Tumblr media
Oh no. XD
-----
Tumblr media
I love the implication that Nine-Fingers might have just randomly showed up too and been the only non-companion here besides Tara. XD That line about getting Jaheira to sing intrigues me. Fodder for a one-shot perhaps...
-----
Tumblr media
Zevlor is such a great character, man. I think this is a good end for him, and hopefully he finds peace and happiness in it somehow, in the end.
-----
Tumblr media
Awwwwwww. Atta boy Geraldus!
It's incredibly unclear to me how easily Hector and co. can or cannot get out of the Hells. But if he has the freedom to do so, he would absolutely be there. (Though honestly, lbr. It should be Jaheira.)

In one of his walks, Malleus notices that although Yuu listens to them very attentively. But it's as if something distracts them from the inside. Consider it a hint from intuition and a little observation of body language. Their nervousness and in the form of clenching their fists from time to time, anxious fingering, rubbing the pads of the thumb and middle finger together, as if they could not calm down for a second. Although at the moment they were not in any danger. Yuu were definitely more tense than he could remember every time they met
-Is everything okay, Yuu?
-A. Yeah..I'm sorry, Tsunotaro.I thought for a minute.
I dare say that today you look more tense than usual. Is something bothering you?
An unspoken agreement was established between them. Yuu couldn't even remember when it happened. Be honest with each other no matter what happens.
-This is probably going to sound ridiculous…despite all your power, have you ever felt powerless?
Hearing the question, Draconia tilted his head slightly to the side, puzzled. What kind of thoughts were circling in this man's head?
-Hm…magic can do a lot.But she is not omnipotent, no matter how much we ourselves wish it.
His words seemed to strain Yuu's already strained nerves even more, but outwardly it was almost imperceptible. If it wasn't for Malleus' little curiosity, to watch their friend's every reaction. Others probably wouldn't have noticed it.
-Huh…yes…the director said something similar when I got here.
-I don't think my answer has dispelled your tension.
Blinking in surprise, Yuu quickly shifted their gaze from the ground to the interlocutor.
-Is it that noticeable?
-It's more a matter of habit. You are one of those people who keeps titanic calm for the whole world, but you cannot calm your storm inside for a moment that continues to torment you until now.
Grinning, Malleus leaned slightly over Yuu, enthusiastically examining the clear night sky reflected in their eyes. The reflection of the stars was definitely attractive and Draconia was ready to look at this view for a long time without giving himself up to boredom.
Smiling awkwardly, Yuu was slightly embarrassed.
-Maybe..
-Don't forget Yuu that you have a power that is beyond the control of anyone else in this world.
-Tsunotaro…There's not much I can do, the dust is more useful than me. Noticing a leaf on the bangs of her tall interlocutor, Yuu carefully untangled the strands of hair and removed the leaf. Malleus was absolutely not against these meek, shy, cautious and such neat and caring moments from Yuu. Although he definitely didn't like that Yuu didn't consider himself something valuable. Something meaningful. Poor child, what happened to you that you began to think of yourself like that?
-You're wrong.
-M?
After looking around the garden conspiratorially, as if intending to make sure that there was no one alive or dead nearby, Malleus leaned closer and very quietly whispered words for Yuu. As if it should be just their secret. t's a secret that the wind will not blow all over the neighborhood among the foliage and branches.
-You are the only person in the whole world whose such gentle and gentle touches, gestures and words make my knees weak.Forget how to take a breath and fill your lungs with oxygen. It's like you're bewitching me with the most powerful magic that will never be in my hands.
The way Yuu's face is flooded with a charming dark bardic color was definitely a good reward for this little "trick" Maybe Malleus will not ask Yuu about their storm inside. But he can distract a little from her. It was definitely worth it.
-Tsunotaro…what are you suddenly…No, wait….- whispering softly and confusedly, Yuu tried to cover their face with their hands so as not to drip their own grave for shame even more.
